Best Things About Working Abroad | Teaching in Japan - Duration: 7:59.

Why hello there!

Today I want to talk about three of my favourite things about teaching English in Japan, and

I suspect these probably apply to teaching English abroad in other places as well.

I'm doing this because, well, it's always nice to spread some positivity, and I think

that if you're looking to teach English abroad, this might help you decide if it's right for

you.

So, let's get started!

The first one is pretty obvious, and that is cultural experience.

The cultural experience, I think, is the reason that most people choose to study or work abroad,

and it's just incomparable to anything else.

Of course you can come on holidays to other countries and experience other cultures like

that, but there's something completely different about living and working or studying every

day of your life in a new culture.

On top of that you can also learn a new language, if you're looking to do that, because it's

a full immersion experience.

It's just worlds apart from visiting a place on holiday.

I think if you're looking for a change, moving to a new country with a culture that's different

from your own is an amazing way to do that.

And I think it also helps you to understand other cultures better as well - not just the

culture that you moved to, but also potential differences in cultures outside of your own

and the country that you're in, because you just get a better understanding of how different

daily life can be for different people in different countries.

I think...yeah, there's nothing that I could possibly compare the experience of living

in a new culture to - it's really amazing and really eye opening, and there's nothing

else that can give you that experience other than living your daily life in a new culture.

So yeah, I think the main reason that everyone chooses to study or work abroad is to have

a cultural experience, and you will definitely have that.

Whether you enjoy it or not, you'll definitely get that experience.

So I think if that's what you're looking for, absolutely try applying for jobs abroad, because

it's just...

I don't even know how to describe it, it's just a really really amazing experience, and

if you're someone who enjoys a bit of adventure, and a little bit of a mix up in your life,

and you're open-minded and ready to learn new things and take on new things, then absolutely

this is the right thing for you to do.

So yeah, cultural experience - can't really go past it for number one!

This next one might sound like a negative, but I definitely view it as a positive, and

that is that it's a challenge.

So moving to a new country and culture and living there is going to be challenging in

almost every way I can imagine, and it's an experience that you can't really replicate

in any way.

You're going to face challenges, and things that you never even imagined that you'd have

to face, and you're going to either overcome them or you're not.

And the thing is that both of those things are positive.

So if you don't overcome a challenge, at least you know that you tried your best, and you've

also learned something that is maybe a weakness of yours that you can either avoid in the

future, or that you can work on strengthening.

So even that is a valuable experience - even if you fail, it's important to remember that,

like, you can be proud of yourself for trying your best, and you can also remember that

experience in the future and remember that you're maybe not super good at that one thing.

And then of course, if you succeed in overcoming a challenge that you never anticipated and

didn't prepare for, you've learned about yourself, you've learned a strength that you have, and

you can be really proud of yourself because you were put in a situation that you didn't

expect and didn't anticipate and you did really well.

So I think both of those ways are really valuable learning experiences about yourself, and...I

can't really imagine any other situation that is challenging in the same ways, so I think

it's just a really invaluable experience if you're looking to test yourself, maybe learn

about yourself a little.

I know I've learned more about myself in my three years living here than I learned for

a long time before I moved here.

And it's because when you're put in new situations you see new sides of yourself, you see new

parts of who you are that you maybe hadn't seen before, and that's something that I wouldn't

change for anything, like I'm so so grateful to have had that experience, and if you're

looking to learn about yourself, learn about the world, I definitely recommend living and

working abroad if you can.

So yeah, challenging - but good!

This last one I had difficulty putting into words, and I eventually decided on: the people.

So this sounds a bit weird, but what I mean by that is that when you first arrive in a

new country with a new culture and a new language, you will be basically a baby to start with.

You will need help with a lot of different things.

So you're going from being this completely independent person who could deal with their

own life and make their own decisions, to needing a lot of help with things, and that

can be a really humbling experience.

But the most important part of that to me has been learning that people are really good.

Like, this sounds so naive and, I don't know, corny, but people...a lot of people are genuinely

good, and there are so so many people who will be willing to help you, even when you

have really nothing to offer them right then in return, because you're just this helpless

little English speaking baby who help doing even the most simple of things.

But there are so many people who will be kind to you and who will help you, and I hand't

experienced that in my home country for a long time, because I was a capable independent

person and I didn't need to rely on other people, so it was really eye opening and...just

really nice to remember that people are so so kind when you need them to be.

And that was...I think that's possibly the best thing I've got out of this experience,

is remembering the kindness in people and learning to repay that as well.

Because I've been helped by so so many people - from my coworkers, to my friends here, to

complete strangers in train stations who've seen me looking lost - and now that I don't

need that help anymore, I like to try and help other people, and I hope that for the

rest of my life I'll remember how I needed the kindness of other people in this time

and I hope that I'll be able to pass that on for the rest of my life.

Because people are good.

A lot of people are good, and sometimes it's easy to forget that because we see so many

bad people in the news, and we tend to remember the bad people in our lives more than the

good, but there are so so many good people, and you will come across so many of them when

you need help when you can't do things by yourself.

It's just...it's really..

I guess, yeah, humbling is the right word, because I was dependent on people when I first

arrived here.

I couldn't have opened a bank account or done all these things because it was just all so

new to me, and I needed help and I got that help, and the fact that people wanted to do

that for me, even though they didn't know me was so amazing, and I'll never ever forget

it, and I think if you feel maybe a bit jaded or cynical about the world - I definitely

did before I arrived!

- I hope that if you do live and work abroad you will have a similar experience to me,

where you just remember that sometimes people can be really amazing.

So yeah, as corny and cheesy as that sounds, that's my number three: the people.

Okay, corniness end!

Okay, so those are three of my favourite things about living and working in Japan - of course

there are about a billion other things that I love about living and working here, but

I didn't want to make this video ten hours long.

Um, I hope that if you're looking to live and work abroad, that this video was helpful

to you, and of course if you have any more specific questions, please comment down below

and I'll do my best to answer them.

Apart from that, have a great day, and I will talk to you later.

Bye!

Important Advice About Advice - Duration: 3:10.

Here's some important advice on giving and receiving advice.

I know.

It's so meta.

I know how to do it.

You know nothing Jon Snow.

Most the time when we are going through something we just want to be heard.

We don't want to feel like we're alone.

We want somebody to listen to us and just to express how we feel.

We are not necessarily looking for solutions or answers or more things to do.

We're just kind of getting it out.

I know we've all been there where you're just feeling sad and you want to talk about it

and you have the friend that's like, "Oh!

Here's all the reasons why you shouldn't be sad and this is what you should do next and

on and on".

And you're just like, No,

I don't want that right now. I just want to be listened to.

So first things first

don't offer up your advice or perspective unless asked for it

or unless you're in a friendship where you know that's kind of what you do

otherwise be there to listen, assess the situation and really feel out how

the other person's feeling because if you do that

offering up advice and things to do, you might be robbing them of their experience

too, right?

Their experience of figuring out for themselves what they need to do and then they might not

do as well next time because they'll just be dependent on you then like, "oh they'll

tell me what to do.

I don't have to think for myself".

So you're not really helping them by helping them.

You see?

Can you help me?

You don't need to be helped any longer.

You've always had the power to go back to Kansas.

I have?

Then why didn't you tell her before?

Because she wouldn't have believed me.

She had to learn it for herself.

When asked for advice, or when receiving advice, it's important to remember or even set a disclaimer

of this is just my perspective

because we are all operating on our own highly highly unique perspectives so it's important

to keep that in mind and consider your source and their motivation, their intention.

The way that you take it in might not necessarily be the way they are giving it to you.

There is this quote that says, "I know what I have given you.

I do not know what you have received."

Most important thing is to come back to you, get quiet, and ask yourself what the next

best move is and you will get an answer.

Just giving yourself the time and space to go inside and find out.

What do I do next?

What do I do now?

What is the best next move for me?

You'll get your answer

if you just get quiet long enough

and take the time to actually ask.

Let's all work on being better listeners which includes listening to yourself.

Thanks for watching.

Let's talk about mental health today - Duration: 0:54.

Today, millions of Canadians are talking about mental health.

This is not just a message for people who live with mental illness.

It's also a message for their friends,

their families, their coworkers and their neighbours.

And the message is this:

Mental health challenges affects all of us,

in ways we often can't see.

And every time we talk about our mental health,

we get stronger.

We make those around us, who may also be suffering in

silence, feel stronger.

I was proud to be Canada's Minister of Health.

And I've met many Canadians who suffered from

depression and other mental health challenges.

But I also know that I met many people

who keep those struggles to themselves.

So I hope seeing millions of Canadians

taking part in Bell's Let's Talk Day

today will encourage those who might be nervous about their

experiences to talk to a friend,

whenever they feel they need to.

Together, we can end the stigma

around mental illness.

Shia LaBeouf ARRESTED on Livestream: "He Will Not Divide Us" Donald Trump Protest, ATTACK - Duration: 2:03.

Actor and performance artist Shia LaBeouf was arrested and charged with misdemeanor

assault and harassment after an altercation at an anti-Trump protest in Queens.

Video from the live stream shows the alleged assault and LaBeouf's subsequent arrest.

His "He Will Not Divide Us" protest has been live streaming since last Friday.

Around 12:35am, LaBeouf got into an altercation with an unidentified 25 year old man.

The disagreement, according to police, wasn't about Trump.

LaBeouf pulled the man by his scarf on lifestream and scratched his face.

Video from the livestream shows the 30 year old being led away by NYPD officers outside

of the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.

Authorities said the man didn't get medical attention after the encounter.

Did you think Shia LaBeouf should have been arrested for his anti-Trump "He Will Not

Why Blue is the Warmest Colour's Adéle Exarchopolous was worried about her latest love scene - Duration: 3:12.

Do you feel like you're always being compared to that performance?

I will, always. I mean, that's the movie people have in mind because

it's a movie where the camera is so close and at the same time the story is so

emotionally and inside and you can feel my skin and I have no make up

so people have this feeling that they know me, so yeah I will always

be compared to this one.

On the movie with Lèa, we didn't know if this movie was going to have success or not

and I didn't know anything because I was really young in cinema but we knew that

something was special and, since this movie, my life is special.

I mean, all the time I'm like, "Where would I be if I hadn't made this movie?"

But what was really funny in Orpheline was that I was like,

"I'm going to play love with another girl other than Lèa and how are people going to get that?

Aren't they going to think about it when they watch the movie?" But at the end it was

really natural because I met Gemma and, I mean, she's as beautiful as Lea

so that was nice too and she's really talented.

What do you feel the movie is ultimately saying about the experience of being a woman

in this day in age, in this moment in time?

It's hard to keep your freedom because you're always feeling a judgement from somewhere.

We're not supposed to have the same freedom in sexuality...

I mean, even just in cinema. For example, actors don't have to sell their bodies,

we are not prostitutes, but they don't have to sell their image like we have to do.

There's a lot of producers who tell me, "You know what, you should lose like 2 kg, you will be perfect."

And when you are a guy, you don't give a fuck. I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro,

all those guys have their own and when you're a woman, there's something where the actress is conditioned.

Do you have a long term view of your life as an actress?

Yeah, I think I have a lot to learn about. Of course I have dreams like everyone, like there are directors

I dream to be working with but I'm not focusing on America, for example. If it comes, it's cool

but I love America Latina cinema, spanish one, people who just single on women

in a special way. It's subjective, but in a way that I love. What I'm going to become if it stops

I need to find something and I don't know.

I don't think you're going to have to worry about that. Your performance in this movie

and everything you've done has been absolutely brilliant and I honestly wish you the best

it was so lovely to talk to you this morning.

Thank you, you too. Pleasure.

What Are Essential Oils? - Dr. Eric Zielinski - Duration: 1:38.

Ty Bollinger: What are essential oils?

Let's go back to the basics.

Dr. Eric Zielinksi: An essential oil is a volatile organic compound and what I think what people

need to recognize when it comes to an essential

oil, there is no nutrition in it.

There is no vitamin or mineral.

It is a chemical that essentially God gave to the plant to protect the

plant from outside threats, whether it's bacteria, viruses, fungus or even vectors

like flies, bees, whatever that might attack the

plant.

What it includes are organic compounds – not organic as we think meaning organic,

having a carbon chain included in it – organic compounds like terpenes, alcohols,

ketones, esters and you name it – is basically chemicals.

Ty Bollinger: From the plant. Dr. Eric Zielinksi: From the plant.

Natural chemicals from the plant.

And with that there are antioxidant properties-- and we can talk a lot about that as time permits.

Ty Bollinger: So basically what the theory behind essential oils is then is you take this natural

protection for the plant and you are somehow able to move it over to yourself.

Dr. Eric Zielinksi: Basically. Ty Bollinger: With essential oils.

Dr. Eric Zielinksi: Well, you know you have to think of it

God inspired the writers of the Bible long ago when he said "the leaves

of the trees are for the healing of the nations."

That's exactly what this is.

Ty Bollinger: That's essential oils.

Dr. Eric Zielinksi: Exactly.

10 Interesting Facts About GREEDO - Duration: 8:12.

Greedo was our first proper introduction to an alien in the Star Wars universe, and his

cantina shootout scene with Han Solo is legendary.

The infamous question 'Who shot first?' has been debated for decades.

Though Rodians may seem pretty basic, there's a lot you may not know about these amphibian-like

beings.

So let's begin…

1.

He was originally going to be a four-armed "Martian"

Early concept artwork for Greedo featured him as having fur and a tail.

But the costume designers took a slightly different approach to creating the characters

design.

Aptly called "the Martian" by costume designer John Mollo, the gigantic dark eyes,

dual antennae, and suction-cupped fingertips were reminiscent of the movie aliens of the

1950's.

But the green jumpsuits almost needed some extra armholes.

The head of the Rodian originally fit the body of a four-armed creature known as the

"Morseerians" .You may remember this alien hanging out at the bar of Mos Eisley wearing

a gas mask…

2.

Greedo was played by a woman…and she almost died

Paul Blake played Greedo in the shots that feature both Greedo and Han Solo in the same

frame.

For Greedo's close-ups, a new articulated head was built for pickups at the end of the

shoot, and Maria De Aragon was enlisted to play the Rodian.

As you can imagine, wearing these thick latex costumes got the actors more than a little

sweaty inside…

Maria claims that George Lucas practically saved her life when he saw her making odd

gestures to signal she couldn't breathe in her mask.

And to make things even more difficult, the mechanism to move Greedo's mouth broke just

before the shoot.

The actress was then asked to put a clothespin between her teeth to move the character's

lips, which was no doubt uncomfortable…but the results looked pretty good…

3.

He stank "Heir to the Jedi" provides a fun piece

of information about Rodians — they smell pretty rank to humans.

When Luke Skywalker visits Rodia's coast of Betu, he remarks on the smell being similar

to a putrid combination of "bad cheese and fungal feet."

The Rodians seem to be aware of this however.

In another scene, Luke comments that a certain Rodian cantina was sprayed with flowered perfume

to make it a more pleasant environment for humans.

I'm pretty sure the Hutts smell worse….

4.

His language originally started with an "oink."

As is Star Wars custom, Lucas never intended to use the original actors voice, so he enlisted

the legendary sound man Benn Burtt to engineer the vocals…

Linguist Larry Ward provided the voice over, and it was up to Burtt to make it sound interesting

enough for the Rodian bounty hunter.

Initially, the single word "oink" was going to be manipulated with "the right

rhythm and electrical equipment" to make a bizarre-sounding language, but they couldn't

seem to get the results they wanted.

Burtt, with the help of a UC Berkeley grad student, went through several languages including

Quechua, a language spoken in the Central Andes of South America.

They merged several of these languages together, and with some clever sound editing, finally

ended up with what you hear today…

5.

He can inhale Clouzon-36 gas Clouzon-36 was a type of blue-green gas inhaled

by purrgil.

Purrgil are basically whales that live in space, and the gas powered their natural ability

to jump into hyperspace.

Rodians can breathe the Clouzon-36 gas naturally without needing some sort of breathing apparatus

like humans and other species require.

In the Star Wars Rebels episode "The Call" we see several Rodians manning Boss Yushyn's

gas refinery.

They're donning some pretty interesting looking helmets, and we see them breathing

in this gas completely uninhibited.

Whether Rodians can naturally jump into hyperspace like the purrgil is another question…

6.

Polite Rodians will salute you I guess Greedo was raised lacking in manners,

because we never see him salute Han Solo.

But in the Clone Wars TV series, the Rodians in the "Senate Murders" arc all show respect

to others with a special salute.

An open-palmed hand across the chest, either using one or two arms.

It's worth noting that Onaconda Farr's aide, Lolo Purs, gave him the salute the morning

before killing him…I guess the Rodians are a fan of the Japanese "respect your enemy"

mindset…

7.

Greedo isn't the only Rodian working for Jabba

Say what you want about Jabba, but one thing you can't deny is that he's all about

equal opportunities, when it comes to his workforce.

Take a look around his palace and you'll see aliens from all over the galaxy.

Twi'lek, Kowakian Monkey-Lizard, Rodian, Nikto, Rodian, Ortolan, Jawa, Rodian…

OK.

Maybe Jabba has a bias towards Rodians.

So much so that he has employed at least 4 of these species so far.

Beedo, one of Greedo's relatives, can be seen in Jabba's throne room in Return of

the Jedi, then there's the unnamed Rodian seen in Docking Bay 94, and Greeata, the female

Rodian rocking the orange mohawk who dances for the Max Rebo Band, and lastly of course,

Greedo himself.

8.

Rodians hunt bounty…and ghests.

We now know that Rodians seem to have a natural propensity to becoming bounty hunters for

slimy crime lords.

But scoundrels like Han Solo aren't the only thing they hunt down…On their home

planet of Rodia, long, slithering green creatures known as ghests live in the swampy waters.

Sometimes they leap out onto the shoreline, preying on innocent Rodians with their razor-sharp

teeth and powerful clawed appendages.

Prior to the Galactic Civil War, it was common for a group of Rodians to get together and

hunt these creatures, and sometimes there were casualties.

In Kevin Hearne's "Heir to the Jedi" novel, Luke Skywalker himself defeats a ghest

while visiting the mausoleum of the Rodian Jedi Huulik.

9.

Baby Greedo Most Star Wars fans believe that Greedo only

appeared in A New hope, but he also made an appearance in the prequel trilogy.

At a time when George Lucas was making a kid version of every character, such as mini Vader,

mini Boba Fett, and we even almost had a mini Han Solo…mini Greedo was almost added to

the mix You can see him featuring in a deleted scene

where he gets into a fight with the young Anakin Skywalker…

After Qui-Gon breaks up the scuffle, Wald, who's Played by Warwick Davis, imparts his

wisdom on a seething Greedo, and tells him "Be careful who you mess with Greedo.

You'll come to regret it."

"Oh ho ho.

It funny because he really get shot, and he regret it…Oh-oo"

10.

Han Solo murdered him Ever since George Lucas made an attempt to

improve on perfection by creating Special Editions of the original Star Wars trilogy,

he made more enemies than friends.

Among all of the new visual effects that he added, there was a single lone blaster bolt,

that set off fans throughout the world.

Suddenly, Han Solo had shot Greedo in self-defence.

Since then, the question of who shot first has been hotly debated.

Now, we appear to have the definitive answer.

Chewbacca knows who shot first, and he's got the script to prove it.

Peter Mayhew posted the pages that deal with the infamous scene.

For the record, there is zero mention of Greedo firing a shot.

Not only does Han Solo shoot Greedo down, he does so in the middle of a quip.

While the script does include a longer exchange between Greedo, simply called "Alien", and

Han, it seems fairly clear that the only shot fired comes from Solo.

If it makes you feel better Greedo, Kylo Ren has avenged you…

"Raaaaar"

"Yeah!"

So that's it.

Those are ten facts about Greedo.

I DO OR I DON'T | Life is HARD with Katie Hartman - Duration: 6:13.

[Dave] Babe? Will you marry me?

[Katie] WOWIE ZOWIE that is sooo nice and MAYBE?

But it's not you it's just maybe the concept of marriage is forever and that's weird but also

the government doesn't need to be in our romance???

I don't know but we could be together until we die???

I love the idea of a soulmate, and being with somebody, together, forever.

Like swans, just never leaving each other's side.

Happy poetry and romcoms tell me that it's possible, REALITY and sad poetry tell me it's never gonna happen.

Life is HARD.

Should I get married?

[Adrienne] Hi, my name's Adrienne, and I don't ever want to get married.

[Dylan] My name is Dylan, and I have been married for a little over a year.

[Katie] I'm gonna get married today, or I will never get married, and to make sure that I stick to this,

I have my boyfriend, Dave, sitting right over there with a judge, and a marriage certificate.

And we might just do that!

OR!!!

I have a man who's gonna cut off my ring finger.

I love my man, I trust my man, we're good.

So why like, put outward pressure on that relationship if we don't need it?

[Dylan] Well, marriage should only, I think, be a decision that a couple makes.

If that's the right thing for them.

It is funny to me that when we get married, we're like, "Let's involve the government."

[laughs]

I didn't grow up particularly religious, my husband did.

It was a very, very small ceremony, and I was like,

in that moment, I was like,

"I get it! This is why people get married! Just stating their intention in front of other people."

[Katie] Did you always wanna get married?

[Dylan] I didn't.

I didn't--

[Katie] How did he lock you down!?

[laughs]

I wanna hear the cheese.

[Dylan] The cheese, here's the cheese:

I fell in love with someone at a time when I was like, really happily gonna be single for the rest of my life.

And then I met my husband-to-be, and I was like,

"F*ck...

This is--"

[Katie] --New plan!

[Dylan] Yeah, new plan, alright!

[Katie] For me, it's like, it's not about the wedding, it's about like, the- It's like--

About stating your intentions, it's about, "Do we need this moment, standing in front of our friends and family,

and being like, 'This is the one! Forever and ever n ever n ever n ever n ever n ever n ever...'"

[Adrienne] Yeah.

[Katie] And ever.

[Adrienne] I know-

[Katie] And ever, by the way.

[Katie] And ever and ever... [Adrienne] I totally get the like, ritual,

and the public announcement of celebrating that we're gonna be together.

I think that's quite sweet and I can relate to that.

But it's something about this... Like I'm not religious, the state bugs me, it bugs me that I know

why I'll get treated differently if I'm like, "My husband's getting the car."

It's like- And that bugs me.

[Dylan & Katie] Mhm...

[Adrienne] I've been with the same person... I can't- I don't know exactly how long.

[Katie] Good!

[Adrienne] Which must mean a super long time, unless it's like, 4 days or 5.

[laughs]

It's more than 15 years, so it's long.

[Katie] Yeah, and you guys made that choice.

[Adrienne] I made the choice.

[Dylan] I think we're on the same side of subversion, because YOU are taking this

expectation of you, as a cis woman, to be like, "YOU should be aspiring to marriage," and you're like,

"F*ck that!"

And I'M taking the expectation of like, "Oh, you're a queer guy, what can your relationship do?"

And I'm like, "F*ck that, gimme the white picket fence," ya know?

So... Here we are.

[Katie] If I never get married, and it's by choice...

Do I then have to wear a shirt that says, "IT WAS MY CHOICE!" for the rest of my life?

Just so people don't judge me about it?

[Adrienne] I think it depends on if you care if you get judged.

[Katie] Oooooohhhh...

[Adrienne] Even in the last 5 years, I don't think it's as big a deal for women to not be married.

I don't know any of the women that are super concerned about it.

[Katie] Should I get married just to then get divorced and reap the benefits?

[Dylan laughs]

[Katie] Mkay.

[Dylan] My question really is "Till Death Do You Part."

And I am down with changing the idea of marriage to more be like,

"We're committing to each other to the forever that we can understand right now."

[Katie] But then why get married?

[Dylan] You should never feel trapped in marriage.

Ya know, like that's what I mean--

[Katie] But that's what sitcoms tell me that I'm supposed to do.

[laughs]

If I'm married to Kevin James, I'm like, "You're never f*cking leaving, are you?"

[Katie] Do you feel more grown up that you're married?

[Dylan] Um... No.

[Katie] Do you feel less adult?

[Adrienne] I do feel like I am sometimes received as less adult.

[Katie] If I don't get married, how are people gonna know I look great in a $3,000 dress?

[laughs]

[Adrienne] That's a thing- You CAN just wear that whenevs.

[Dylan] You can wear a $3,000 dress to work.

Nobody is stopping you from wearing a wedding dress to work every day.

[Katie] Just my bank account.

[laughs]

[Katie] You guys are making this incredibly and beautifully hard,

but I gotta make a god damn CHOICE.

Okay.

Enter: The Decision Cube.

[gasps]

[Dylan] Whoaaaaa...

[Adrienne] What's she gonna do?!

[Katie grunts] I-- Don't-- Know--

WHAT LOVE IS--

I'm gonna get married.

BABY!

[laughs]

GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!

[Both] I DO!!!

[laughs]

[Katie] Did I make the wrong choice?!?

Tell me in the comments below!

And like and subscribe! Like and subscribe, babe.

[Dave] Yes, babe.

[Katie] Babe, like and subscribe. [Dave] Okay babe. Okay babe.

[Judge] I also do annulments...

[Katie] Eat my dick.

The Real Reason We Never Hear About Brad Pitt's Brother - Duration: 4:39.

In this media saturated age, everyone in the world seems to know every tiny detail about

Brad Pitt's personal life.

Which makes it even more amazing that his brother, Doug Pitt, has managed to keep such

a low profile.

Well, we're about to change that.

Here's why we never hear from Brad Pitt's brother.

The quiet life

Doug, who is a couple years younger than Brad, still lives in the state of Missouri, where

he was born.

He resides there with his wife, Lisa, and their three children: son Landon and daughters

Sydney and Reagan.

A friend told the media that Doug is "not a real outgoing guy" who might be "seen as

distant, disinterested, stand-offish" to those who don't know him, but who has a really strong

moral compass and will take action when duty calls.

Busy with charity

Doug ran his own technology company for more than two decades before selling it to pursue

his philanthropic interests, such as working as the first Goodwill Ambassador to the United

Republic of Tanzania, an appointment he was given in 2010 by President Jakaya Kikwete

after years of working with the nation to provide local citizens clean water access.

And that's just the start.

In 2008, Doug founded the organization Care to Learn to help Missouri's students in need

receive tools and supplies to help them thrive, while in 2012, Doug was featured on TEDx Talks

to discuss his decades of relief work in Africa through World Serve International and Africa

6000 International.

"In the charitable nonprofit space, we've got to know the people we're serving.

Culturally, what works, what doesn't work."

One reason Doug is so hands on with his charity work is that he's seen first hand the impact

it can have.

"I know the difference a well makes the second you dig it.

Overnight, families are transformed."

He tried acting once

In 2012, Doug was hired by Virgin Mobile Australia to star in a cheeky commercial series as the

"second most famous Pitt in his family."

"What do I like about this car?

Look at it.

It's sporty, it's stylish, it's me."

Before doing the ads, Doug sought Brad's blessing, and the work also gave him new respect for

the work his brother does.

"I was like props, man, this thing's hard, you know?

It's the truth, you know.

They say action and all of a sudden everyone's staring at you, it's like, 'Uhhh, I don't

do this.'

You gotta remember your lines, and oh yeah: be funny."

Doesn't talk about his big bro

Whereas a lot of celebrity siblings might be tempted to spill some juicy tidbits about

their famous family member for the sake of money or their own shot at 15 minutes of fame,

Doug is not a fan of talking with the media, or the people he encounters every day, about

his famous brother's personal life.

"Your eyes kinda glaze over, you know it's coming.

I appreciate the interest.

I understand why people want to ask about him, but they...you know, I've answered

the same question for 25 years."

"Oh I bet you have."

"You know and so you do go a little bit on autopilot, and you're happy to...you

know, again, I appreciate the interest."

That goes double for the constant barrage of questions Doug was bombarded with following

Brad's split with Angelina Jolie in 2016.

Doug told the Springfield News-Leader, "I've been hanging up on reporters all morning…I'm

sorry.

I'm just not feeling this.

I don't know if it's even still relevant tomorrow, but let me sleep on it.

Right now, I'm going to hang out on the sidelines."

Staying local

While Doug may not be a national celebrity, he's well known locally in Missouri, regularly

speaking with his hometown media about his various charitable efforts.

But he doesn't often seek out a national audience, for obvious reasons.

Case in point: when he spoke to Entertainment Tonight in 2012 about his humanitarian efforts

abroad, the focus shifted quickly to the seemingly more important matter of the then-impending

Brangelina wedding.

Paparazzi stalked his family

One reason Doug tries to stay out of the spotlight is to protect his family, especially after

an incident where he received a phone call from his daughter that a strange man was going

through their mail.

Doug rushed home to find a photographer stalking his family, and responded by punching the

guy in the face.

He told News Leader, "At that time I had nothing on my brain but my daughter.

There are some things in the heat of the moment when you don't think things through as best

you can … What the paparazzi have to realize is that Brad has to play by the rules, but

I don't.

I am not worried about bad press or good press.

I am worried about protecting my family."

These days he has a different method for dealing with paparazzi, telling St. Louis Magazine,

"I was 'no comment' for years [but] now, when I get calls from the paparazzi, I make up

my own stories just to see if they'll get into print, and I've started taking photographs

of them, and they don't like it.

I just started that recently.

Doing things more on my terms."

No sibling rivalry

Although people know Brad Pitt's name across the globe, and he makes millions of dollars

for what he does, Doug Pitt told News Leader that he's not in a competition with his brother.

"It's just that Brad makes a living as an actor.

That's all it is.

Brad casts a very big shadow.

I made some decisions early on to just do what I do on my terms.

I'm not sure you can even compete with where he is at.

I am thrilled that I have had success in the business realm, the family realm and the humanitarian

realm."
