GOOGLE PERMANENTLY BANS 200 FAKE NEWS SITES.
by The Daily Sheeple.
The crackdown has begun.
In a blog post by Scott Spencer, director of product management for sustainable ads,
posted on Wednesday, Google said it has banned 200 publishers from accessing its Adsense
advertising service for posting fake news stories.
Google said it had cracked down on sites which contained 1) Ads for illegal products; 2)
Misleading ads; 3) Bad ads on mobile; 4) Ads trying to game the system and, 5) Promoting
and profiting from bad sites.
But the emphasis was on the so-called fake news category which has dominated media
buzz for the past two months.
This is how Spencer explained his action: In 2016, we saw the rise of tabloid cloakers,
a new type of scammer that tries to game our system by pretending to be news.
Cloakers often take advantage of timely topicsa government election, a trending news story
or a popular celebrityand their ads can look like headlines on a news website.
But when people click on that story about Ellen DeGeneres and aliens, they go to a site
selling weight-loss products, not a news story.
* * * Weve had long-standing policies prohibiting
AdSense publishers from running ads on sites that help people deceive others, like a site
where you buy fake diplomas or plagiarized term papers.
In November, we expanded on these policies, introducing a new AdSense misrepresentative
content policy, that helps us to take action against website owners misrepresenting who
they are and that deceive people with their content.
Google has faced criticism over its handling of fake news stories, including allowing a
fake news website to rise to the top of its results displaying an incorrect story claiming
that President Trump had won the popular vote.
In his post explaining how Google attempted to crack down on bad ads, sites and scammers,
Spencer explained that Google had expanded its policies against misleading websites in
November, leading to the crackdown.
From November to December 2016, we reviewed 550 sites that were suspected of misrepresenting
content to users, including impersonating news organizations.
We took action against 340 of them for violating our policies, both misrepresentation and other
offenses, and nearly 200 publishers were kicked out of our network permanently.
In total, Google took down 1.7 billion ads that they found in violation of their policies
in 2016, more than double the 780 million they removed in 2015.
It wasnt just fake news: Google provided the following examples of common policy violations
among bad sites in 2016: We took action on 47,000 sites for promoting
content and products related to weight-loss scams.
We took action on more than 15,000 sites for unwanted software and disabled 900,000 ads
for containing malware.
And we suspended around 6,000 sites and 6,000 accounts for attempting to advertise counterfeit
goods, like imitation designer watches.
Some of the more conventional bans were the result of Google adding a policy mid-year
prohibiting ads for payday loans, considered predatory.
Roughly five million payday loan ads were disabled over the latter six months of 2016.
Also among those the removed ads were what Google calls tabloid cloakers. These
advertisers run what look like links to news headlines, but when the user clicks, an ad
for a product such as a weight loss supplement pops up.
Google suspended 1,300 accounts engaged in tabloid cloaking in 2016.
Spencer concludes: In addition to all the above, we support industry
efforts like the Coalition for Better Ads to protect people from bad experiences across
the web.
While we took down more bad ads in 2016 than ever before, the battle doesnt end here.
As we invest in better detection, the scammers invest in more elaborate attempts to trick
our systems.
Continuing to find and fight them is essential to protecting people online and ensuring you
get the very best from the open web.
Google has not disclosed the list of 200 sites it had permanently banned.

#NeuroDivergentTales: Why You Should Google Your Mental Disability - Duration: 8:07.
Got a new sign.
Whatdya think?
I think it fits me pretty well.
What up everybody!
It's Vita here.
So excited to welcome you to this first episode of #NeuroDivergentTales.
#NeuroDivergentTales is a project I'm starting, with the hope that it would spread visibility
and awareness to the experiences that NeuroDivergent People go through.
To clarify what NeuroDivergent is, for those of you who may not know:
Someone who is NeuroDivergent is somebody who deals with mental disabilities.
I myself have Borderline Personality Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Insomnia, and
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I might be missing one.
To be honest, it's really hard to keep track nowadays.
So this type of project is going to be for that; true facts, true information, and honest,
open experiences, straight from the horse's mouth, or at least one horse.
Probably not gonna be tryin' to diagnose anyone.
I'm always welcome to give advice about people's experiences, and how they affect them, but
this is not coming from any credentials I have as a medical practitioner, at all.
So I wanna give that caveat (heads up).
That being said, I'm really excited, uh, it's gonna be really cool.
So let's get into the first episode: Reasons you should google your mental disability.
Been thinking a lot about this, in regards to have we have conversations with our friends,
our families, our loved ones, about how our mental disabilities work.
These people really expect us to have all the answers (sometimes), and to know exactly
how our mental disabilities work.
Some of us don't even really understand the medications we're taking.
We're just hoping that they can make us feel better, and less in pain, and less isolated,
or whatever.
Just to see what that experience was like I Googled all of my own mental disabilities.
The links for those search results will be in the description below this- mmm?
Hello!
It's kinda weird to like, Google your own brain.
"I'm gonna try to think about how I think!"
Seems like a biiiit much, doesn't it?
And even if it doesn't, there's still a bit of a strangeness to it, at least for me personally.
But it did prompt these results.
So, here we go.
Reason number 1 you should Google you mental disability.
The first, and the most obvious reason is simply having information you need about yourself,
and about your own mental disability.
In a lot of ways, that allows you to know what to expect.
That gives you that opportunity to kind of be in front of any trickiness that happens,
when your mental disability gets out of control.
It gives you an opportunity to build resources for yourself to go back to, if you ever wanna
learn more, but you don't necessarily have the time, or necessarily have the energy.
This stuff is hard to have in front of you.
It's even harder to comb through, because most of it isn't necessarily meant for us
to understand.
It's just a whole bunch of doctors and therapists, putting a whole bunch of jargon on our mental
disabilities, and then handing us pamphlets that say, "read this, take two of these, come
back next week."
Gathering that information on your own gives you the opportunity to really sift through
it, and digest, and I think that's really important.
The next reason that popped up for me, is the need to create a resource for other people
that may interact with you.
People with mental disabilities are on the margins in a lot of ways.
We spend a lot of time having to feel like a science experiment for people to actually
validate our who we are.
So with that, comes this opportunity, to bring this information to other people you associate
with.
Having this information readily available, so you can just pop a link over to somebody,
really quickly, means that you don't have to do the explaining all the time.
Because people have written about this, not just people who study mental disability, but
also people who go through these mental disabilities.
There are articles that you could read literally for days.
So that gives not just yourself, but other people a chance to truly understand what is
going on, and to know how to support you.
Yeah!
That's number 2.
Number 3 is that it's really easy to get this information right now.
It took me about 30 minutes to find relevant articles about my mental disability that I
felt were really powerful, and weren't so confusing that I wouldn't be able to read
them.
So that's good.
The caveat here is that, when we're dealing with the intersection of class, and the discussion
of access, a lot of it has to do with whether or not someone has the ability to get to a
computer.
And it's a really good thing to think about, as we move forward to a world, where information
is literally being erased from the internet.
Don't believe me?
Check out the whitehouse.gov website.
It's a scene!
So now's a really good time to call on your folks.
Be like, "hey.
I wanna learn as much about my mental disability as I can, before the potential of that information
disappearing occurs.
Can you help me?"
And if you're somebody who has that resource, it's even just having access to a computer,
having access to printing something out.
If you have that access, go for it.
Share it with people.
OH!
OH!
OK!
So, I was strugglin' for a minute to remember this last one, but I think I finally got it.
The last reason I want to leave ya'll with, for why you should Google your mental disability,
is not just a why, but kind of a how as well.
Part of why it could be a good idea to Google your mental disability, is understanding how
society interacts with your mental disability.
Part of what I did in those searches, was I added my intersections to that search.
Not only did I type depression, but I also typed depression, Black people, depression,
Trans and Queer people, depression, poor people, and then just of course, like, depression
in general.
I mean, right there, we're talking about, anywhere from 15-20 resources, that tell me
what is going on, with each part of my representation as somebody who identifies as a working class,
non-binary, Trans Black femme, and how all of those things play a role in what society
decides to do with somebody like me.
There's gonna be a lot of changes that involve the way that mentally disabled people are
treated.
That is going to be something we're gonna want to be in front of.
Cause there's nothing saying what the future is gonna be.
Fuck if anybody knows, right?
These are kind of like, arbitrary reasons, that I just like, think about, because I'm
a nerd, and so I wanted to share those with you.
The human brain just *explodes* all the time.
I think it's really really cool for us to start being more aware of how our bodies operate,
and how our brains operate.
It may even help us in the future figure out, understanding how to counter a trigger, maybe,
and how to remove a trigger from a person's life.
Um, it can be used in healing tactics, this knowledge.
There's there's all sorts of really really cool, really really powerful things, that
can happen with the knowledge that we have about our NeuroDivergence.
So that's kind of like, a last little one.
Kind of like a bonus, ya know, just gotta throw it in there.
*laughs* um...
Thank you so much for checking out this video.
I am so grateful that there are people who are still checkin out this channel.
It's almost two years old, now, and uh, I couldn't be more excited, for there to be
more videos on this channel.
let's make it happen!
This is the year, I think, more than ever, we're gonna need our spirits, and our energies
out there tor truly affect some things.
If you liked this video, please "Like" this video!
Thumbs up thing, it's right down there.
Under the video, you can check that out, you can hit the button.
If you think that more people should check this video out, "Share" this video.
I don't-I don't know what that looks like, but you can copy paste!
And if you're new to TWOC Poetry, welcome, please, go ahead and hit that subscribe button.
I think it's a rectangle, of some kind.
Um, hit the subscribe button.
Please stay tuned, please stay involved.
That being said, I witness you, I love you, and I lift you.
This is Vita E. with #NeuroDivergentTales.
PEACE!
*beatboxing*
Um, why did I just like- I pinched my own nipple in that clip.
Hahaha!
There it is, there's me, there's me doing my thing again.
BLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLAAAAAH.
That was cute.
*laughs*

Nouvel An lunaire 2017 Google Doodles| Fête du Nouvel An Lunaire 2017 | Nouvel an chinois 2017 - Duration: 5:19.
du Printemps, les trains de voyageurs, les bus et les bateaux fluviaux regorgent de vacanciers;
Les magasins font une rumeur d'affaires vendant des cadeaux, de nouveaux vêtements et des
aliments de fête; Les cuisines sont animées de préparations pour des fêtes élaborées;
Et les rues sont remplies avec les sons des pétards et des salutations saisonnières.

Google Forms Demo - Duration: 8:51.
A wonderful tool in Google Apps is the
Google Forms tool. It's a really good
tool if you wanted to create a survey, if
you want to create an exit ticket, if you
just want to get general information, if
you want to create a quiz, you can also
use this for that. And the easiest way to
get through it is if you click on 9
square and Drive. Once it is loaded, then
you would go into New and Google Forms.
This opens a generic Google Form,
and the best place to start with that is
to go into Settings.
This will give you a few different
options. The general ones are if you want
to collect everybody's email address, if you
want to click off for Response Receipts,
then that allows the person who
submitted the answers to
the questions could get their answers if
they request it, or if they always, you
know, they can always get it no matter
what. You can restrict it just to East
Rockaway School District,
although if you are sending out a survey
to parents or outside of the school
building, probably best to check that off
so that people can access it. You can
make it so that it limits only to one
response so that people cannot go back
into this and change their answers. Or
you can make it that they can edit it
after they submitted it. I do that with
certain forms that I want students to
continue to get into week after week in
my class. And you can also set it so that
the respondents can see a summary chart
of pretty much any of the answers and
all the responses.
The next thing that you would be able to
set is the Presentation of it. You can
have it to that on the bottom there's a
progress bar, you can shuffle the question
order. This would be something to do if
you were giving a quiz and so, whatever
is number one on one person's screen, the
number one would be different on someone
else's. Again, if you want them to be able
to submit another
response, you would click off to
allow the link so that they can go back
in and continue editing the form. And
this is the canned message that comes up
when somebody has submitted it. You can
make it whatever you want, like "way to go,
thanks" And the new option is quizzes.
This is really terrific because this
allows you to set up a quiz and assign
point values so that students would be
able to take the quiz and it would
be graded for you, and you don't have to
have a different add-on. We used to have
something called Flubaroo that you
would have to go in and take the test,
set it as the default, then have that
grade for you. This actually does it
right within the document. You can set it
to immediately release the grades to the
students as soon as they submit, or you
can set it to Later after you have
reviewed all the scores, and you can set
what it is that the students would see,
any missed questions, all the correct
answers, what the point values were for
those things. Of course, a fun thing you
can do is you can change color palette.
So you can go in, you can make the form
look different. If you have a picture
that is the correct specs, you can also
go through and upload a photo. You can
change the background to one of their
selections that they have, and that basically
just change what's on the top. And you
are also able to preview your document
as you go forward so that you know what
it looks like when it is pushed out. Some
wonderful things that you do: you can ask
questions, you can decide how you want
them to answer it, do you want it to be a short
answer, a paragraph, multiple-choice,
checkboxes, a drop-down, a linear scale, or
multiple choice grid. So that's helpful
depending on the type of questions
you're asking. You can then, of course,
do your answers, and if you wanted to add
a picture to go along with it, or if
that's what you wanted your answer to be,
maybe that would be great for the
younger kids who are not able to read yet,
but you can set pictures to go along
with it. You can add another option.
Another great thing that you do here is
you can set it so that the question is
required, that the students would not be
able to submit it unless they answered that
question, all the questions, and then
there is also the little three
dots there that gives you the option,
depending on what the student answers,
they can go to a certain section based
on the answer. So, if they, if this was the
correct answer, they can continue to the
next section. If they chose option 2 and
that was the incorrect answer, they
can go to another section, continue to go
to section, whichever one you want them
to, so that they can do some review. This
is also great if you want to do a
make your own choose-your-own-adventure
kind of story where the students, based
on what they choose, would jump to
another section. You can duplicate the
question if you want to keep the same
kind of format with the multiple choice
and the same answers. Say you have the
same answers for everything, and the
students have to choose which one. This allows you
to add another question.
This lets you add a title. So, a lot of
times if I am doing something, and I want
to have them reference a question and
then answer things about the question,
you can put the main question up top and
then add questions underneath that
section so that you can have the
students do questions based on that. Of
course you can add an image, so that the
students can take a look at what it
is that you want them to focus on. You can
add a YouTube video or you can even add,
if you, if you want to search for it, or if you
have the URL.
And then you can add a section. So once
you are done with one section, you can add
another section, and that would then move
down to a part two. And again, this would
really be helpful if you were doing the
Choose Your Own Adventure, or if you have
a review section that you want students
to jump to if they answer the wrong
questions. For the quiz portion, let me show that
to you, click off on Make this a Quiz, and
then once you do that, when you click on
your questions, you then have the option
to do the answer key. You can choose the
point value, you can choose which one is
the correct answer, and you can even have
answer feedback. So for the incorrect
answers, you can have it say, "Aww,
try again", or for the correct answers you
can have it go,
"great job!", and then you can save those. So
that's some things you can do here.
Once students have submitted their
responses, you then can opt to have a
spreadsheet created right within the
document. So you can create a new
spreadsheet. If you want this to go into
an existing spreadsheet, you can do that
as well. And from here it would open up
into Sheets, and then you would be able
to manipulate that information a bunch
of different ways. You can select, you
know, any students who scored below a
certain amount so that you can highlight,
you know, any issues that you need to go
over. You can create charts and graphs, so
this really gives you a lot of great
feedback and a lot of analytics that you
can use in your instruction. So that is
some interesting things about Google
Forms.
