TOP 10 VIDEO GAMES YOU CAN'T BEAT

I'm your host Kelly Paoli and today, we're counting down the top 10 video games you can't
beat.
But this ain't a regular video, oh no.
It's collab week, meaning you guys are gonna be seeing a lot of familiar faces from our
other channels.
Today, my very special guest is from inform overload-
Alright, so let's talk video games you can't beat.
Think of this more as games that are next to impossible to beat.
Because never say never.
So with that being said, let's take a look at games that are the toughest of the tough,
the hardest of battles to endure - the video games you just can't beat.
10.
The Robocop game from 1988 Based off of the film, this Robocop game for
the Commodore 64 was exceptionally difficult.
But there is literally no way to beat it.
The game had several bug issues, including one that would completely mash up the fourth
level and was impossible to actually play.
But don't worry, instead of fixing the bug developers came up with another solution.
They put a completely unrealistic timer on the third level, so you'd never be able
to beat it and advance to the fourth and it's bug.
Sneaky.
9 Spelunky Spelunky is a 2D side scrolling game that,
while it's incredibly fun, is also SUPER HARD.
Each level is procedurally generated, meaning the game collects data algorithmically in
order to randomly generate new levels each time you die.
Which, yes, makes the game unique, but doesn't help when you die - if you lose all your hearts
or stumble into an instant kill trap, you have to start all the way back at the beginning.
No leniency here.
8 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles This 1989 NES game is another side scroller
on our list, and it's infamously difficult.
Mainly because of the regenerating enemies and the next to impossible tasks that it throws
at you.
While it's been praised for being really fun to play, certain levels of the game left
many feeling as if it was designed unfairly, from excessive traps to unrealistic time limits
in certain points of the game.
7 Smash TV Released in 1990, Smash TV was a midway arcade
game that contained an ending that apparently let's the user enter The Pleasuredome.
But no one ever entered the pleasure dome - because the developers never included it.
They believed that the game was so hard that no one would ever be able to beat it.
Of course, a few players out there did, forcing developers to include an ending where you
would win hundreds of beautiful women.
Classy.
6 MegaMan The first MegaMan game is considered to be
one of the most difficult of the franchise.
While some people feel that it's a game that's too hard to be any fun, so much so
that IGN actually ranked it as the second hardest game of all time.
Why?
It's one of the most difficult platform games, with levels that have platforms that
react faster than you can.
It has no save option.
Spikes instantly kill you.
And you have to face a room full of difficult enemies right before every boss, leaving you
pretty vulnerable and weak.
5 Gradius Here we have the reason why the konami code
was created by Kazuhisa Hashimoto.
So Gradius was initially an arcade game released in 1985.
When the home port of the game was being developed, Hashimoto realized how difficult it was, which
led to the creation of the code.
Except he forgot to take the code out before it was released, and players eventually found
out about it via word of mouth.
While many today may not see the game as overly challenging, it's difficulty at the time
was important for setting the stage for other games to come, including out next number.
4 Contra While Gradius may have been the reason the
Konami code was created, Contra is the game that gave it it's popularity, especially
in North America.
A run and gun action game for the NES that was released in 1987, Contra mixes side scrolling
and 3D views throughout it's seven stages.
All while unleashing incredibly difficult enemies at you, from hovercrafts to armoured
trucks, and even a boss that's a giant alien head with larvae spawning from it's mouth.
Which would be fine, except there's a time limit.
And you lose a life if an enemy or a bullet touches you.
And you can only continue up to three times before it's entirely game over.
Some strongly feel that developers put the Konami Code in the game with the intention
of actually giving players a means to defeat it, since it's next to impossible to do
without the code activated.
3 Ninja Gaiden There's a few titles in the Ninja Gaiden
franchise that are quite difficult, but many feel like this one takes the cake.
The 1988 NES game is a side scrolling action platform that has been praised for not only
it's story telling but it's cinematic cutscenes, which were pretty advanced at the
time.
But it's also known for it's difficulty, especially in later levels of the game, with
enemies that constantly respawn to the point that it makes it difficult to advance a few
steps forward, and a plethora of hard-to-beat bosses.
2 Battle Toads Despite being a bit of a rip off of Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles, this game is notorious for being one of the hardest games in all
history.
First released in 1991, the game lets you play as three anthropomorphic toads that have
the most pleasant names ever - rash zits and pimple.
Many think that this game also copied the kinds of difficult levels the Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles NES game threw at them, along with giving players a disadvantage in two
player mode.
You could easily kill your teammate if they accidentally got in the way of one of your
attacks.
Which happened.
A lot.
1 Zelda 2 the adventures of link This game threw a lot of people who had played
it's predecessor.
The gameplay they had become accustomed to from the first Legend of Zelda had changed
- now we had a side scrolling game rather than the overheard perspective, that had some
levels that felt next to impossible to defeat - looking at you, death mountain.
From viciously strong enemies to straight up dead ends, it's definitely a challenge,
and also an interesting part of the Zelda franchise's history.
