In Lukaku and Morata, United and Chelsea found that a miss can lead to a hit

IT'S funny how the misery of a miss can lead to such a sensational hit — but that's been the case for both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

If Jose had got his first-choice striking target in the summer, Alvaro Morata would be leading the Manchester United attack.

Romelu Lukaku almost ended up back at Chelsea before his United scoring spree.

Alvaro Morata has hit the ground running at Chelsea.

If Conte had landed his, then Romelu Lukaku would be back at Stamford Bridge and filling Diego Costa's boots.

I doubt either manager will ever be so delighted at having to switch their sights, given how both forwards have hit the ground running.

And the reasons for that — as well as being top players, obviously — are clear to me.

Both know they are loved, know they are the main man, and know they are in the right place at last.

Morata came from Real Madrid having never really had a chance to establish himself at the Bernabeu.

To be fair, with the likes of Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale, it was always going to be a pretty thankless task.

Alvaro Morata is enjoying being the main man after a spell on the sidelines at Real Madrid.

  Chelsea's Alvaro Morata is our player of the weekend after his first hat-trick in the Premier League at Stoke.

Yet even with those three  and others  ahead of him, he was clearly frustrated at being a back-up, so the move to England was a godsend.

Lukaku also made no secret of his frustration, even though he was the star at Everton.

He didn't feel the club's ambitions matched his own.

Lukaku was desperate for Champions League football and despite everyone thinking it would be Chelsea who provided it, United and Jose are the ideal fit.

It's ironic to think now that, when both signed for such huge fees, they arrived with a hefty dose of scepticism.

There were plenty who were not convinced they could cut it at the top level.

Yes, they'd done so at times, but could they do it on a regular basis? Well I think we've been given a fairly resounding answer already.

Many felt Chelsea would struggle without Costa and that Morata lacked that bit of dog about him to turn a game.

     .

Romelu Lukaku proved he has the quality to succeed at a big club.

It's true that even when Costa wasn't playing well he'd still be likely to pull something out by giving defenders such an unpleasant time.

But while Chelsea  lost that, Morata gives them something else — the ability to create a goal from nothing, as he did with the second of his hat-trick at Stoke.

His movement is superb, his pace frightening, and on Saturday he was as close to unplayable as you'll get and could have scored at least five.

Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte will both be delighted with their signings.

Yet if I had to take just one of the pair it would be Lukaku — simply because he has such a massive improvement still to come.

As well as these two, we've Sergio Aguero banging them in for fun at Manchester City and Harry Kane as deadly as ever at Spurs.

That race for the Golden Boot will be as exciting as the one for the title itself.

Either (A) your mind is melting.

Or (B) you're looking at a peripheral drift illusion.

Ok.

The answer is (B)….

But, your mind is also melting.

Here's how:

Look around the image.

Each circular snake like shape seems to be rotating, right?

But, this is a still image—not a gif, not a movie…

It's actually your brain that's creating the motion.

Let's try an experiment.

Stare down one circle.

Go ahead, really focus on it…

Keep staring...keep staring.

Notice how everything stops.

Now while still looking at the image,

move your gaze ever so slightly

from the point of focus.

The snakes.

Are.

moving.

But...why?

The image here was made by Akiyoshi Kitaoka, a psychologist at Ritsumeikan University

in Kyoto, Japan.

Neuroscientists think the shapes within the image mess with the way our brain adapts

to disparities in color contrast.

The black and whites have a stark difference, which causes a specific set of neurons

in your brain to fire all at once.

The paler blues and yellows trigger a slower, longer-lasting response.

This difference in timing sets off motion-detecting neurons in the visual cortex,

making the image appear animated even though it is perfectly still.

And humans aren't the only species that can see this.

In 2014, the journal Psychology published a paper called "Cats and Illusory Motion."

It presents evidence that non-human animals can also see optical illusions,

or at least this one.

Wait a second, why do the snakes stop when you stare directly at them?

The center of your eye contains the densest group of cones, a type of photoreceptor.

This cluster allows us to see fine details easily, which prevents our motion detecting neurons

from jumping into action when they shouldn't.

But once you start to look away, the image becomes slightly muddier, and your brain

is deceived into "seeing" the snakes move.

DOLE WHIP CHALLENGE: Can You Top This Recipe? - Duration: 3:11.

Hey everybody it's Julia and Ben from Konkin Can Do.

If you saw our previous video on Dole Whip, you know that we have scoured the internet

just to find a recipe that comes close to the Disneyland Dole Whip.

Fail!

We came across some pretty good ones, but nothing really was even close.

If you've ever had it, you know it.

It is tart, it is sweet, it is delicious.

It is magical.

After we tried all the recipes, we went to the lab.

I say, this laboratory of yours is a wonder of engineering.

And came up with our own recipe which is definitely closer in our humble opinion to the real deal.

The first ingredient, and the most important,

is the frozen pineapple.

Second ingredient we're using it powdered sugar or icing sugar and last is canned coconut

milk.

We're using light coconut milk, but thats totally up to you.

Alright Ben, let's whip it up.

It's pretty darn good and it doesn't have dairy in it just like the stuff at the parks.

So, that is the closest we could get to the real Disney Dole Whip.

It's definitely not the same as Disneyland.

You can't replicate the magic like Disneyland.

Or can you?

WHAT BINGE WATCHING CAN PHYSICALLY DO TO YOUR BODY

I�m sure that you hesitated before choosing to read this article, as most of us have been

sucked into a binge watching marathon on more than one occasion (myself included).

While it may seem like we�re buckling down to give ourselves a break, we may actually

be hurting ourselves far more than we realize.

Sitting for prolonged periods of time has proven to be harmful to our bodies, especially

for adults over 50, and when you match lounging with television, you create a deadly combo.

In an Australian study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, researchers

examined more than 8,900 adults and found that each additional hour of TV viewing was

associated with a 12% increased risk of inflammatory-related death, and those who spent more than four

hours a day watching TV were at an even higher risk.

In general, watching television has proven to negatively impact mental health; it alters

your brain, lowers your attention span, and has the potential to make you more aggressive.

You don�t need to experience the �trance-like� state television can put us in, but I�m

sure you�ve witnessed it before.

This trance occurs roughly 30 seconds after you start watching TV.

Your brain begins by producing alpha waves, leading to a light hypnotic state that makies

the viewer less aware of their environment and more open to subtle messages � aka programming.

In the 1990s.

Dr. Teresa Belton, a visiting fellow at the University of East Anglia, studied the effects

that television has on the imagination of 10-12 year old children, ultimately concluding

that television negatively impacts their development: �The ubiquity and ease of access to television

and videos perhaps robs today�s children of the need to pursue their own thoughts and

devise their own occupations, distracting them from inner processes and constantly demanding

responses to external agendas, and suggests that this may have implications for the development

of imaginative capacity.�

And these physical affects are becoming increasingly apparent.

Not only does it eventually lead to immobility as you age, but with the risk of creating

inflammation in the body, you are susceptible to a host of diseases including kidney disease,

diabetes, asthma, Alzheimer�s, and even depression.

Dr. Megan Grace is the lead investigator at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in

Melbourne.

Between 1999 and 2000, her team quizzed adult participants about their viewing habits via

a questionnaire.

Again, this was before we had access to popular streaming websites like Netflix.

The participants were separated into three groups based on their TV viewing habits: less

than two hours per day, greater than two hours but less than four hours, and more than four

hours.

�TV time was associated with increased risk of inflammatory-related mortality.

This is consistent with the hypothesis that high TV viewing may be associated with a chronic

inflammatory state,� the authors wrote.

They followed up with their participants 12 years later and found, of 909 deaths, 130

were inflammatory-related.

Of the inflammatory-related deaths, 21 were from diseases of the respiratory system and

18 of the nervous system, and those who watched between two to four hours of TV a day showed

a 54% higher risk of inflammatory-related death.

Additionally, people who watched more than four hours of TV a day doubled their risk

of dying from an inflammatory disease compared to those who watched two hours.

In addition to cutting down the amount of time you spend sitting in front of the TV

and sitting or lying down, you can help combat inflammation with a number of foods like avocados,

berries, sweet potato, onions, and watermelon, and herbs like, cloves, ginger, rosemary,

and turmeric.

A TWEET FROM EDWARD SNOWDEN BEGS THE QUESTION

As most of you know, Edward Snowden is the former intelligence contractor who leaked

the NSA�s mass surveillance program and discovered some of the most solid evidence

for the existence of clandestine black budget operations.

But did we really need the leak in order to believe this?

Prior to his leaks, the issue was still considered a conspiracy theory by many, despite the fact

that there was still good evidence for these programs prior to Snowden�s revelations.

The United States has a history of government agencies existing in secret for years.

The NSA (National Security Agency) was founded in 1952, but its existence was hidden until

the mid 1960s.

Even more secretive is the National Reconnaissance Office, which was founded in 1960 but remained

completely secret for 30 years.

Today, there are still a number of issues that hold the stigma of �conspiracy theory,�

despite the fact that we have some very credible sources that have revealed some intriguing

facts, and one of these issues falls into the realm of parapsychology, the study of

phenomena ranging from mental telepathy, clairvoyance, to psychokinesis, remote viewing, and much

more.

Just imagine how useful those things would be to �spy� on people?

No doubt a great asset to the surveillance state if they are indeed real, which in my

opinion, a lot of evidence suggests they are.

A classic example comes from the U.S. government�s �Stargate� program, which lasted more

than 20 years.

The program was actually declassified about a decade ago and the results were published

in the journal Scientific Exploration.

The program studied various uses for parapsychology and extended human capacities, like telepathy,

but was terminated despite the fact that it was very successful with little to know explanation.

The program was run by intelligence agencies, like the CIA and NSA, in conjunction with

the Stanford Research Institute (SRI).

So, as you can see, this is not strange territory for intelligence agencies.

In fact, in 1976, before this program commenced, a presentation was given at the Institute

of Electrical & Electronics (IEEE) on a paper published by the institute on behalf of Doctors

Hal Puthoff and Russell Targ, two of the main scientists involved with project Stargate.

Even in 1975, the funding clients had agreed that this subtle perception channel existed

in both experienced and inexperienced individuals.

program).

The paper was titled �A Perceptual Channel For Information Transfer Over Kilometer Distances:

Historical Perspectives and Recent Research.� It presented scientific evidence for the existence

of a perceptual capacity channel whereby certain individuals are able to perceive and describe

remote data not perceivable to any known sense.

A CIA document titled �Chronology of Recent Interest in Exceptional Functions of The Human

Body in the People�s Republic of China� is also another great example of their interest.

In the document, it outlines the Chinese government�s interest in parapsychology (remote viewing,

Here is another one titled �Research into Paranormal Ability To Break Through Spatial

Barriers� that touches upon the same thing.

This is elaborated on later in the article.

This particular document, which was declassified through a Freedom of Information Act request

(FOIA), outlines specific people with very special abilities and how they�ve been studied

by thousands of scientists and governments around the world for a very long time.

The document is on the CIA website, but only seems to be accessible from the Internet Archives,

a San Francisco�based nonprofit digital library with the stated mission of �universal

access to all knowledge.�

These facts were also outlined in a declassified U.S. Air Force report on teleportation, which

was made available through the Federation of American Scientists.

So, Where Does Snowden Come In?

On October 31st 2016, Edward Snowden retweeted a tweet from NYT Minus Context that said,

�Remember that people don�t have access to your secret thoughts and feelings.� His

tweet was a response to massive global surveillance, and the fact that nobody really has any privacy

anymore.

NWY Minus Context was trying to remind people that not everything can be under the watchful

eye of the NSA.

The thing that�s confusing is the fact that along with Snowden�s retweet, he responded

with, �Well, most people.� See below:

Now, Snowden could have simply been implying that the NSA is capable of collecting so much

data on so many people that they can determine your thoughts, your next move, how you think,

and what you feel.

They probably have systems and algorithms in place to make predictions about this based

on your online activity and more.

On the other hand, he could have also been implying that yes, these people do actually

have the ability to, if need be, read your mind.

When I saw this tweet, I was taken back to a lecture given by Ingo Swann, one of the

multiple main participants within the CIA�s Stargate program.

Swann was able to successfully describe and view a ring around Jupiter before scientists

had any idea that it existed.

This took place before the first ever flyby of Jupiter by NASA�s Pioneer 10 spacecraft,

which confirmed that the ring did actually exist.

The results were also published and declassified in advance of the ring�s discovery (source).

In the lecture, Swann describes some of the remote viewing exercises that went on during

the program, and, along with remote viewing (the ability of individuals to describe a

remote geographical location up to several hundred thousand kilometres away from their

physical location) came the concepts of precognition and the ability to perceive what another individual

at a remote location, is thinking.

He stated that, when those concepts came into play, the �men in suits� came in and shut

the program down.

These concepts would indeed be the biggest threats to government secrecy that the world

has ever known.

Paul Smith, a Ph.D. in philosophy and an Army Special Forces intelligence officer who was

also part of the program additionally details specific examples of precognition within the

remote viewing program, and that it worked multiple times.

He does so in his book, The Essential Guide To Remote Viewing: The Secret Military Perception

Skill Anyone Can Learn.

Interesting to think about, and interesting to ponder if Snowden is at all aware of these

programs.

The intelligence community is so compartmentalized that he most likely doesn�t have much information

on anything except for what he was working on.
