Where Can I Get The Cheapest Diabetes Travel Insurance? - Duration: 4:52.Hello, I am Ty Mason of thediabetescouncil.com, researcher, writer and I have type 2 diabetes.
Today I want to talk about where you can find the cheapest diabetes travel insurance.
After you watch the video today, I invite you check out the description box for my new
ebook.
This is one of the most comprehensive diabetes meal planning book you can find.
It contains diabetes friendly meals/recipes, recipes for different goals such as 800-1800
calories per day meal plan, diabetes meal planning tips and tricks.
There are also tons of diabetes friendly recipes for everyone!
Travel insurance for people with diabetes is often loaded with higher premiums due to
people with diabetes having a higher risk.
No traveller can avoid the odd surprise, but being prepared for your travels can help avoid
unnecessary stress.
Whether a weekend break or a month abroad, travelling is supposed to be relaxing, eye
opening and special.
Planning ahead is the key to a perfect trip, and despite your own private insurance, travel
insurance is a travel essential.
Why buy travel insurance?
Travel insurance covers scenarios that are faced daily by thousands of travelers worldwide.
What's more, for people with diabetes, travel insurance can help cover the cost of medicines
such as insulin should there be an unexpected emergency.
I visited several sites that offer travel insurance for those with diabetes and I am
now giving you my findings.
The quotes I received were based on my situation, a Type 2, with health insurance (the travel
will be a secondary insurance) and a $50,000 policy.
The trip was a 7 day trip to the UK from
the US.
Here are the Cheapest with their prices.
Seven Corners was the cheapest at $16.72 with a $250 deductible.
They were also the second cheapest at $18.64 with a $250 deductible.
The difference is this policy pays $25,000 on pre-existing illness while the other pays
$20,000.
Third in line was HCC Atlas International.
The cost is $21.68 with a $250 deductible.
Trawick came in 4th with a cost of $22.48.
Again a $250 dedutible.
In 5th was GeoBlue at a price of $22.56 with the same deductible.
And 6th was Global Alert at $23.00.
All of the first 6 had $250 deductibles and were secondary insurances.
It wasn't until I got to the 10th cheapest carrier that I found a primary insurer and
that was April.
This program also had no deductible.
The cost was only $28.
When looking at the customer ratings all the top 6 were in the 4.4 to 4.6 star rating out
of 5.
And surprisingly, most of them are underwritten by Lloyd's of London, a very prestigious
British insurance company.
So, the range for secondary insurance is $16-23 for $50,000 worth of medical insurance while
traveling outside the US.
It is important to note, that if something happens to you while in the US, many of these
policies do not cover you.
If you really want the coverage, say $1 million, you can get
that for $242.88 USA Assist.

Liverpool Transfer News: Late Lemar bid claim, no Coutinho deal, Juventus wait on Can - Duration: 2:21.Liverpool Transfer News: Late Lemar bid claim, no Coutinho deal, Juventus wait on Can
Liverpool reportedly upped their offer for Monaco star Thomas Lemar to £82m as the transfer window drew to a close. The France international emerged as a late target for the Reds with Philippe Coutinho's future uncertain amid strong interest from Barcelona.
And L'Equipe claim Liverpool pushed until deadline day to try and get a deal for Lemar to head to Anfield sorted.
The French outlet say Jurgen Klopp had lodged a bid of an initial £74m, with £8m to follow in add-ons, earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Liverpool have managed to keep hold of Coutinho.
The Brazilian playmaker was pursued by Barcelona following the departure of compatriot Neymar to Paris St-Germain. And the Spanish giants made three unsuccessful offers for him - coming in at £72m, £90m and £118m respectively.
A fourth bid - and therefore a move - for Coutinho did not materialise before the La Liga transfer window closed at midnight though.
Finally, Juventus are reportedly ready to pounce for Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can. The Germany international has entered the final 12 months of his current deal.
And Transfer Market Web claim he does not intent to put pen to paper on a fresh agreement. Juventus are apparently waiting for him to become available, with a free transfer switch a possibility next summer.

"I Can't Afford It" 3 Steps to Avoid This - Duration: 4:02.- I can't afford it, it's just too expensive,
we just don't have the budget.
If you've been in sales long enough
you've heard these devastating phrases
in your sales before.
People ask me, what do I do
with a prospect that says that?
And that's the wrong question.
What we want to ask is,
how do I avoid hearing these phrases in the first place.
Once you've heard one of these phrases
you're already in trouble.
In fact, I'd argue that there's very little
that you can do to save the sale at this point.
This is because your prospect is basically
telling you that you haven't shown me
enough value to justify my making this investment.
It is your job to do that, not their job.
In this video I'm going to show you
three steps every sales person must take
to avoid I can't afford it.
Check it out.
One, disqualification mindset.
There are some prospects who simply
don't see value or don't have money.
It is your job in the beginning of the sales process
to identify these people as soon as possible.
That means asking questions to really understand
how critical those challenges are
to understand are they they type of person
who will really invest in these types of challenges.
The second that you determine that
they're not going to make an investment
it's your job to immediately disqualify those prospects.
And disqualification mindset means that
you think like a doctor.
You're not going to look for a sale,
you're looking for a prospect who has
some serious challenges and a willingness
and a commitment to solve them.
Anyone who falls outside of that, disqualified.
Number two, help them calculate the upside.
Once you understand the challenges
it doesn't just stop there.
Every prospect knows that they have challenges.
But often they haven't done the math,
the real calculations on what those challenges
are really costing them
and what it would mean to the organization
in additional revenue or profit
or cost savings to actually solve those challenges.
The math is where you actually build value
in the sales process.
So by asking a question like,
if you were able to solve these challenges
what would it mean in additional profit
or cost saved or additional revenue?
You are now creating value in the sales process
by asking a question like that.
Number three, discuss money before you present.
So often sales people think
it's easier to just present the solution
before talking about money.
Let's face it, talking about money is uncomfortable.
But the problem is, once you present your solution
and share your prices you suddenly have
far less use to the prospect.
You've given away the goods.
Establish a budget before you present your solution.
Make sure that you're on the same page with money
before you show them the goods.
By doing that you're going to keep the sale on track
and make sure that what you're presenting
would be better received by the prospect.
So there are three steps every sales person
must take to avoid I can't afford it.
I want to hear from you.
Which of these ideas did you find most useful.

Gwen Stefani Can't Keep Her Eyes Off Blake Shelton As She Watches His Concert Backstage - Duration: 2:06.Gwen Stefani Can't Keep Her Eyes Off Blake Shelton As She Watches His Concert Backstage
They're going strong!
Following recent breakup rumors, Gwen Stefani proved her relationship with Blake Shelton
is SO on by attending his Kentucky concert on Sept. 3 — and she looked so infatuated
while watching him perform!
Blake Shelton, 40, performed in Kentucky on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend…and Gwen
Stefani, 47, looked like such a proud girlfriend while watching him from backstage.
A fan in the crowd snapped a photo of the country superstar onstage, and Gwen is in
the background looking on.
It's like she can't take her eyes off of him!
The 47-year-old didn't share any of her own photos or videos on social media, but
it's such a relief to see that this relationship is going strong after breakup rumors surfaced
in OK! magazine last week.
As HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY reported before Labor Day Weekend, Blake was hoping
that Gwen would come to Kentucky with him, as he wanted it to be the ultimate date night.
"They've hardly had any alone time lately because they've been so insanely busy,"
our source explained.
"He just wants her to be there with him."
Looks like he got his wish!
As for the split rumors?
Another insider told us EXCLUSIVELY that Blake thinks they're "ridiculous" and that
the two are happier than ever and still totally in love.
It's been just about two years since Blake and Gwen started dating following their respective
divorces, and fans are anxiously waiting for them to take the next step in their relationship.
However, Entertainment Tonight recently reported that, while the two discuss being "together
forever," they haven't actually talked about getting married at any point.
Things are just going so well the way they are right now…why change anything, right?!

MU and Chelsea eye Liverpool midfielder Emre Can with German out of contract next summer - Duration: 3:04.MU and Chelsea eye Liverpool midfielder Emre Can with German out of contract next summer
MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea are eyeing up moves for unsettled Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, according to reports. The German international has less than a year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks.
Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up moves for Liverpools Emre Can.
Emre Can is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season. But Italian paper Tuttosport are now reporting that two of the Reds biggest Premier League rivals are readying moves for Can.
Bayern Munich are also reportedly admirers of Can, 23, who will be able to speak to foreign clubs in January over a possible move.
Liverpool are unlikely to want to see one of their stars move to their arch rivals United and would prefer him move abroad.
The Reds are still hopeful they can convince the former Bayer Leverkusen man to commit his future to the Anfield club.
But if Can decides to move on, he will be able to do so for free next summer and Liverpool would be powerless to stop him joining United.
Chelsea are also said to be interested as Antonio Conte is reportedly still not happy with the additions to his squad made in the last transfer window.
Emre Can has been linked with a move to Juventus who have confirmed their interest.
Emre Can has become one of Jurgen Klopps best players at Liverpool. Juventus still looks like the most likely destination for Can who could tie him down to a pre-contract in January.
They even had a £23million bid rejected by the Merseyside club on deadline day last Thursday but are willing to go back in for him.
The Serie A giants could also make a £9m bid in January to secure his services and beat off any competition from United, Chelsea and Bayern.
Can joined Liverpool in 2014 from Bayer Levekusen and is one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's team-sheet. He scored twice against Hoffenheim last month to help the Anfield club secure Champions League football.
Liverpool's Emre Can scores outrageous goal of the season contender.

Republicans Return From Vacation To Problems They Can't Possibly Handle - Duration: 3:55.Most Americans today are probably feeling a little sluggish getting back to work after
a three-day weekend but just imagine how it would feel getting back to work after a month-long
weekend because that is what's happening right now with the House of Representatives and
the U.S. Senate.
Today is their first day back at work following their month-long August recess where some
of them just completely disappeared from the limelight altogether.
Some of them held Town Halls.
Some of them went and helped with Hurricane Harvey but everybody's back at work today
and they have a hell of an agenda that there is no possible way they can actually tackle.
Here's a few of the things that the Republican-led House of Representatives and the Senate have
to deal with now that they are back in washington, D.C.
first and foremost one of the most important things is they have to get Hurricane Harvey
relief packages passed and while you're at it, you may as well go ahead and throw in
some relief packages for Hurricane Irma which is right around the corner headed towards
Florida at the moment.
Furthermore, you've got to get some kind of budget passed so that we avoid a government
shutdown.
A government shutdown at this point, which unfortunately is looming because there doesn't
seem to be any kind of clear reconciliation in the budget in the House of Representatives,
could cost the U.S. economy hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars depending on how
long such shutdown actually lasts.
So we're looking at catastrophic economic impacts if these Republicans can't get their
act together and pass a budget.
Trump himself has said he will not sign a budget if it does not include funding for
the border wall.
So, so far, the Republican's plan has been to cut money from agencies like FEMA who's
currently working overtime in Texas and will be doing the same thing probably in Florida
or wherever else Hurricane Irma hits.
They want to cut half a billion dollars from that and give it to Donald Trump for his wall.
Congress can't do this, especially not at this point, and furthermore the Republicans
have proven time and time again so far this year, that they can't even work with one another
to get anything passed.
Want an example?
How about the health care bill that had to go through constant revisions because different
factions within the Republican party were fighting with one another over who could make
the bill more cruel.
The bottom line is this.
The Republicans in D.C. right now have a hell of a lot of work to do just to keep this country
going, not even trying to enact their Republican agenda but just to keep things functioning.
I do not trust them.
Polls show the public does not trust them enough to actually get their jobs done.
Because beyond all the partisan fighting in this country, there are some times when Congress
has really non-partisan, normal everyday keep-the-government functioning work that they have to do.
So far the Republicans have been so poor at leadership that they can't even accomplish
that.
We're headed towards a government shutdown.
It does not look like the Republicans are going to do anything to prevent that because
they can't work with one another and they can't work with their sociopathic president.
But that's where we're at today, folks.
I hope the Republicans got a lot of rest on their August recess because they're going
to have to put in a lot long hours if they want to keep this country moving long enough
so that we can continue functioning as a society, as an economy and as a democracy.

Why Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool players can't be compared to their Premier League counterparts - Duration: 7:31.Why Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool players can't be compared to their Premier League counterparts
Richard Jolly explains why it's often unfair to assess Jurgen Klopp's players vs. their respective counterparts at other clubs, such is the manager's unique style and ethos. Jurgen Klopp has a way of irritating journalists.
Questions designed to elicit praise about a particular player can bring an ode to someone else altogether, probably one who has not taken the field in the game in question, or, more often, a reply about the team as a whole.
In a way, it is fitting: it reflects Klopp's collectivist ethos. Rewind a few years and Liverpool seemed disproportionately dependent on individual inspiration, whether from Steven Gerrard or Luis Suarez.
Despite Philippe Coutinho's class, Roberto Firmino's ubiquity and Sadio Mane's goals, Klopp's Liverpool are designed to stand or fall less because of the fortunes of one player.
That is the aim. No one is bigger than the club and, while Klopp may not plan it that way, the manager often feels the star.
But Liverpool's tactical and philosophical approach can make it harder to assess individuals than it is at many another club. It is about the group.
When Liverpool play well, there is a fluency and a harmony and a pace. When they don't, those qualities can be lacking.
Look at more rigid, formulaic sides and it is easier to diagnose a personnel problem when a team underperforms. The striker missed chances? Pick a different one.
The left winger didn't have a good game? Replace him with another. The full-back cost the team a goal? Drop him.
It isn't quite that simple with Liverpool, not least because the left winger does not really occupy the left wing. Nor are the full-backs really full-backs.
The supposed striker is not really a striker. The temptation, of course, is to compare them with counterparts elsewhere or predecessors in more orthodox set-ups.
They are unlikely to happen when he is in such a rich vein of form but Roberto Firmino is most susceptible to negative judgments.
There is a straightforward, if not always entirely accurate, way of measuring a centre-forward's contribution: goals. And, over the course of the season, the Brazilian may well score fewer than his equivalents at the other top-six clubs.
But nor, because of his positioning, is he likely to get as many tap-ins. Last season, because of James Milner's presence, he did not even get the penalties that inflate others' tallies.
Divock Origi is another case in point. Some of the Belgian's outings have come on the left of the front three where he is neither winger nor striker but a hybrid.
And what should such a player manage? Mane and Mohamed Salah are so productive that it is easy to applaud their efforts but there is no clear measure of where expectations ought to be calibrated.
Then there is the question of how to appraise the full-backs.
There are times when Alberto Moreno seems a kamikaze figure, charging forward recklessly; when, for instance, he attempts to close down the Hoffenheim goalkeeper, leaves a gap behind him and Liverpool concede a penalty seconds later and 100 yards downfield.
That seemed an instance of positional indiscipline but how many of the times when a full-back appears to be caught in the wrong station is he actually following instructions?.
The different duties of the wide men at Anfield are apparent in the statistic showing the player with most touches in the Premier League last season: Milner.
Apart from the man in sixth place, his colleague Nathaniel Clyne, no one usually deployed at full-back figured in the top 13 and only one other, Nacho Monreal, in the top 26.
Virtually everyone else who was as involved was used in midfield. Should they, therefore, be judged as midfielders when the natural inclination is to look for defensive deficiencies when goals go in?.
The other complication is that there is not the division of responsibilities that can be found elsewhere. Watch some sides and the roles are clear: top scorer, target man, playmaker, midfield ball-winner, creator in chief.
Klopp, whose players have nearly all occupied multiple roles at different periods in their career and who, in some cases, has reinvented them, likes all-rounders.
All of which presents difficulties in evaluating them. He can score goals, but probably does not qualify as a goalscoring midfielder.
He can make them, but may not be deemed a flair player. He can be the most attack-minded of the trio in the centre of the park, or the second most.
When he and Liverpool excel, he slots in seamlessly. When he or they are below par, remedying the problem can be difficult with a footballer who does a bit of everything without specialising in anything.
It highlights the way Liverpool, challenging British preconceptions about players, possess the principles of Total Football.
A focus on individuals can be reductive when, apart from specific cases like goalkeepers and centre-backs or games where there is patently one weak link, they rely not just on Cruyffian logic, but chemistry and defining chemistry is not always easy.
It is merely evident when it is there and when it is missing. How to get it, and who provides it, are trickier issues altogether.
Klopp does not always play the game by talking up players for headlines, perhaps because he realises that describing them in isolation can be deceptive and distilling complex roles into soundbites is not always easy or helpful.

With packed agenda, can Congress pass immigration reform? - Duration: 4:07.JUDY WOODRUFF: So, DACA now become an issue for Congress to decide, adding yet another
item in a growing to-do list for lawmakers as they return from their August recess.
John Yang is back with more.
JOHN YANG: Thanks, Judy.
Congress is back, and they're facing a list of high-stakes tasks, funding the government,
raising the debt ceiling, passing Hurricane Harvey aid, and a lot of other things.
To talk about all of this, we're joined from the Capitol by Erica Werner, congressional
correspondent for the Associated Press.
Erica, thanks for joining us.
The president added to this list today.
He said he wants Congress to act to protect the dreamers.
He says he wants Congress to help them and do it properly.
Now, one of the reasons we're in this situation is because Congress failed -- has failed the
pass the DREAM Act.
ERICA WERNER, Associated Press: Right.
JOHN YANG: What are the chances that they're going to be able to do it now?
ERICA WERNER: Well, that is such a telling observation that you just made, John -- and
thank you for having me -- is the reason that we're in this position is because of Congress'
failure over many months and really years in 2013 under the Obama presidency to come
up with a comprehensive solution on immigration.
There was a bill that passed the Senate, and it just could never go anywhere in the House
and kind of died a slow death.
So, the idea that immigration, this issue that is really quite toxic politically at
this point, is being thrown on to Congress' agenda, which is already so stacked, is really
very surprising.
And whether Congress will be able to get anything done in the next six months, the deadline
the administration has set, will remain to be seen, but I think there's not a huge level
of optimism at this point.
JOHN YANG: Well, let's go through some of the other issues.
Tomorrow, the House is going the take up aid for Harvey relief.
What are the prospects for that overall, and are they going to be able to pass it without
conservatives pushing for offsets?
ERICA WERNER: Right.
Well, I would say -- and this is one of the reasons that immigration action becomes so
unlikely, is there is not room for another issue on the front burner.
But to your question on the Harvey aid, there's the $8 billion, which will pass the House
tomorrow, and this is going to be the first kind of tranche, or first down payment of
aid to that region, which is going to be many, many billions of dollars more.
There aren't even ballpark figures floating around the Hill at this point as to what that
ultimate package will look like.
But the vote tomorrow in the House is likely to be overwhelming to send that to the Senate.
At this point, there are not a lot of people pushing for offsets.
It should pass easily.
Then what happens in the Senate will be another question, because, as you know, there's a
desire among leadership there and the administration to use that Harvey relief package as the vehicle
to raise the debt ceiling, something that they need to do by month's end.
And that's a very unpalatable vote for a lot of members, so adding it to the Harvey bill
could sweeten the pot for some members.
But conservatives are already raising a lot of complaints about that prospect.
JOHN YANG: And in the less than a minute we have left, what's the game plan for funding
the government after the current fiscal year ends at the end of the month?
ERICA WERNER: That's right.
So, the Congress needs to act to fund the government by September 30, or the lights
go out and national parks close, et cetera.
So, given all of the other issues they have to deal with, the plan for that one is to
kick the can down the road into December, pass a stopgap, what's known as a continuing
resolution that continues funding levels at their existing levels through just at some
point in early to mid-December, at which point they revisit the issue and have a fight over
the border wall, potentially, at that juncture.
JOHN YANG: Erica Werner on the busy month ahead for her and everything -- everybody
else on Capitol Hill, thanks for joining us.
ERICA WERNER: Thanks so much.
Thank you.

Dean Unglert Will Not Be the Next Bachelor But Can They Just Make the Announcement Already - Duration: 2:39.Dean Unglert Will Not Be the Next Bachelor (But Can They Just Make the Announcement Already
Another day, another story about who will be the next Bachelor.
As Bachelor in Paradise comes to a dramatic end, fans are still asking one question: Will
Daniel Maguire and Lacey Mark get engaged?!
LOL, just kidding.
Everyone wants to know who will be the next Bachelor, and franchise creator Mike Fleiss
is just LOVING the endless speculation, using his Twitter account to fan the flames and
tease fans about the impending announcement.
And on Tuesday, Fleiss took one major contender out of the running: The Bachelorette fan-favorite
Dean Unglert, whose had less of a beloved turn on Bachelor in Paradise this season.
(Anyone else have whiplash from how fast that tide turned?)
"Dean will not be #TheBachelor this year, at least...," Fleiss wrote.
(Everyone watching BIP this season: No s--t.)
Given his romantic situation (or s--tshow, whichever term you prefer on Paradise, with
Dean unable to decide between Kristina Schulman and Danielle Lombard, it's not too surprising
the 26-year-old from Rachel Lindsay's season won't be handing out the roses in season 22.
Also, Dean told E! News he didn't feel ready to be the Bachelor.
"I just don't think I'm ready for it," Dean admitted to us.
"I just think that from an emotional standpoint I need to figure out a lot more about myself
before I dive in and be the lead of anything.
I think I have a ways to go before I'm ready for something like that."
Still, he said he would consider it in the future, something Fleiss seems to think is
a possibility as well.
(We're SO down for Dean as Bachelor in a year or two.)
ther clues offered up by Fleiss on social media?
The next leading man will not be from JoJo Fletcher's season (Smell ya later, current
Bachelor in Paradise bartender/fan-fave Wells Adams!), nor will it be reigning Bach Nick
Viall, who recently ended his engagement to Vanessa Grimaldi.
Oh, and "rest easy," Fleiss tweeted, as Whaboom is not in the running.
Phew.
So who is going to be the next Bach?
Sources tell E! News it's just a matter of time before Peter Kraus, Rachel's runner-up,
is announced (Despite Fleiss' cryptic tweets alluding to Peter's hesitance to propose being
a major issue).

Can Humans Fly With Wings? - Duration: 4:57.Humans have wing envy.
For thousands of years, we've been dreaming up hare-brained schemes to fly like birds.
The ancient Greeks conjured up Icarus and Daedalus, who made wings from bird feathers,
strings and wax.
Leonardo da Vinci put a little more thought into it, drafting plans for a mechanical winged
contraption known as the ornithopter.
While 20th-century humans are perfectly capable of taking to the skies, there's something
intrinsically unsatisfying about doing so in an aluminum behemoth.
We still want to fly like birds, taking off under our own power and gliding effortlessly
once we're airborne.
After at least two millennia of thoughtful engineering, why are humans still trying to
figure out individual flight?
Why can't we strap on a set of wings and take off?
To understand why, consider the physics of liftoff.
In order to leave the ground, the forces driving a body upward must overcome the downward force
of the body's weight.
You can see this in action during a jump.
When you push your feet down into the ground, Earth provides an equal and opposite reaction,
forcing the body upward.
You can't rely on the ground when trying to achieve sustained flight, since the whole
point is to uncouple yourself from Earth.
So flying creatures and machines have to push air down into the ground, instead of pushing
on the ground itself.
There are two ways to manage the problem of pushing down enough air to achieve liftoff.
You can accelerate a small amount of air downward very quickly, as a hummingbird does.
That takes incredible power, and none of the muscles in the human body muscles can even
come close to accelerating air that quickly.
Alternatively, you can accelerate a large amount of air more slowly, which is the more
efficient technique, especially for heavier fliers.
(That's why a pelican's wings don't flap as fast as that of a sparrow or hummingbird.)
You might think, then, that we could just build really, really large wings and flap
them quite slowly.
But there's a problem here, too.
Bigger wings, and the muscle required to move them, add weight to the equation.
The amount of power required to take off increases by the square of the additional weight.
So a doubling of weight requires a fourfold increase in power output.
Unfortunately, our arm and back muscles just aren't that strong.
Our more powerful quadriceps and gluteal muscles, stretching from our thighs up, however, can
almost do the job.
For a human to take flight on flapping wings, your body would have to be made almost entirely
of muscle.
In other words, humans make terrible hummingbirds.
With flapping and spinning apparently non-starters, a couple of options remain.
Some birds, including albatrosses, take to the air by riding thermal updrafts.
They coast between the rising and falling air currents to manage their trajectory and
execute a landing.
It's a phenomenon similar to hang-gliding.
But the whole process is totally dependent on the right wind conditions, and many scientists
think albatrosses can't fly on a still day, and therefore consider the birds technically
flightless.
We could attempt fixed, airfoil-shaped wings, as we use in airplanes.
When a plane gets going fast enough, the air moving over the top of the wing is at a slightly
lower pressure than the air underneath, creating the phenomenon known as lift.
The problem is that you have to get going far faster than your legs can carry you.
The frustrating physical reality seems to be that, unless we can lose a lot of weight
without losing any strength, humans simply aren't destined to fly any significant distances
under their own power.
But there is a happy ending, of sorts, to this story.
The jet pack, probably the closest thing a human will ever get to flying like a hummingbird,
is right around the corner.
A New Zealand-based company has developed the Martin Jetpack, essentially a helicopter
backpack.
Working with the same basic problem that faces human-powered flight, power requirements increase
at the square of added weight, Martin developed a rotary wing system with the lightest engine
capable of turning the rotors.
What he ended up with was an automobile-style piston engine.
It's lightweight, and it forces far more air through the rotors than it uses to combust
the gasoline that powers the engine.
While it's not exactly soaring like a majestic bird, it'll save you the hard work of flapping
your way up there.
