Travelling Makes Us Far Happier Than Any Material Wealth Ever Does - Duration: 4:18.

They say that money doesn't buy happiness, but everyone at work seems to be in far better

moods every time payday rolls around.

That being said, once most of the disposable income is spent over the course of the coming

days, people often feel worse than they did before getting paid.

So, perhaps a more accurate saying would be that money doesn't buy lasting happiness.

Psychologists say that human adaptation often stifles our happiness.

When we buy something new, its appeal tends to wear off for the most part once the item

is no longer "new."

So if we want to experience the same feeling of "new happiness," we must keep purchasing

new things on a very regular basis.

Of course, most of us have a limited amount of finances, so acquiring and maintaining

happiness in this fashion is destined to fail.

Fortunately, researchers at Cornell University have discovered another way for humans to

enjoy life.

Professor Thomas Gilovich argues that when human beings travel, they experience the same

degree of happiness as they do when purchasing goods.

What's more, the happiness we gain from travelling tends to stick with us long after

a trip has ended—as long as we retain the happy memories of travelling, they will continue

to make us happy (unlike the memories of what an expensive shirt used to look like when

it was new).

In short, experiences result in happiness which is more meaningful, so if we devote

more of our time and money to doing things rather than purchasing things, we will be

happier individuals for longer periods of time.

Although playing sports or going on nature walks would be worthwhile experiences, going

on exciting trips is number one according to Professor Gilovich—checkout the fifteen

quotes below which agree with his findings 100%

U.S. not withdrawing from FTA with S. Korea for time being: Inside U.S. Trade - Duration: 2:14.

The United States is NOT planning to withdraw from its free trade agreement with South Korea...

at least for the time being.

But it's still pushing for amendments to the 2007 deal.

Park Ji-won has more.

Trade policy news source "Inside U.S. Trade" reported Wednesday that the White House has

informed key lawmakers, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, that it will put aside its plan

to withdraw from the free trade deal between South Korea and the U.S.,... quoting unnamed

sources.

The paper also reported that since the possibility of withdrawing from the free trade agreement

with South Korea was brought up,... several U.S. business groups, lawmakers and national

security experts have defended the South Korea-U.S. deal, pointing out its geopolitical and economic

benefits to the U.S.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce,... as well as a group of bipartisan congressional leaders,...

announced Tuesday that it opposes, in the strongest terms, a U.S. withdrawal from the

deal, saying the FTA has boosted U.S. exports in aerospace, agriculture and other industries.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer also told reporters Tuesday,... on the sidelines

of NAFTA meetings with his Mexican and Canadian counterparts... that Washington is anticipating

amendments to the KORUS FTA between the South Korea-U.S. ... to address issues the U.S.

has brought up since the deal began.

Regarding such pressure from Washington to make changes to the FTA,... Seoul's trade

minister Paik Un-gyu said earlier this week that the FTA has benefited both sides,...

calling for further research and analysis to assess the impact of the agreement on both

countries.

South Korea and the United States signed the free trade deal on June 2007,... and the agreement

entered into force on March, 2012.
