hello everybody so I'm looking a little rough today. I'm coming at you from the
floor of my living room. look, a couch! it's very brown, but comfortable. so I had
dedicated time today on my day off to record this video and I was excited
about it but I actually slammed my head, specifically my brand-new piercing on
the dryer door while doing laundry and I'm feeling rough. I almost passed out on
the floor of the laundry room. it was very dramatic and my battery is flashing, I'm
gonna change that real quick, please hold. okay I think we're more or less in the
same position. anyway, feeling a little rough, looking rough cause I was like mid
getting ready when it happened and I just lost all will to do so. that being
said, today we're gonna do the thing. the thing is actually I'm
grabbing my tea. the thing is... I'm gonna show you my record collection. to be
honest, this is not all of my records. I wasn't able to bring all my records when I
like flew to New York because I was worried that they get damaged so I could only
bring a few that I knew would be like safe and protected. but this is a good
chunk of them this is all of my favorites. I do want to bring back more,
maybe I'll show them off on Instagram or something if you want to follow me on
Instagram when I go home. I'm going home with the beginning of May for my
friend's wedding so if you all show them on there to like fill in the gap where
this final collection is lacking, but I do have my favorite albums here and I
have a couple new ones that I'm very very excited for, so let's talk about
records. I briefly want to say I'm not actually the biggest music person. I have
more recently gotten more into music and like actively buying merchandise for
like artists I like. I've never just like been an active music person. I was always
a bigger reader or bigger... I watch a lot of television and those were kind of
what I would do. whenever I was listening to music, I was like, I could be listening
to an audiobook so I just didn't listen to a ton of music. I like my three
favorite bands and I still do say that like I have my like two favorite artists
which are Stars and Kesha and they're pretty much the base of what I listen to.
anything more than that is like a stretch, but anyway let's just go into
this. so I guess, speaking of Kesha, we have
rainbow this is one probably one of my favorite records of all time.
I love this album. I love these songs. they're so so good. I don't know how to
review albums. I guess also I should say I used to have my own record player. it
was one of those like not great briefcase kind of ones that I'm like blanking on the
name right now. I moved in with my friend Michael and Michael has a really nice
record player, so that's why I've been listening to more records. it is an
audio technica AP LT 60. No, it's AT-LP60. I can read, not well. so it's really nice
and then he has some speakers and it just sounds really good. it sounds way
better than the record sounded on them on my little like travel Crosley thing.
but anyway, I don't know that this album is specifically made better on this
format but it's just like I like the process of putting the record down.
though I will say this is two records and each like side only has three or four
songs, which I find very irritating because like by the time you're sitting
down, getting into it and listened to three songs you know it's over and you have to
stand up again so that's frustrating. but yes, one of my favourite albums of all
time. the next thing is probably like one of the most exciting things ever. my
brother got me this for my birthday and he actually like didn't get me a
birthday present and said like oh it'll be coming and then I kind of forgot
about it because almost two months passed but I got this last week and it is the
Lord of the Rings-- Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Complete Recordings.
like Howard Shore's complete recordings so it has stuff that I don't believe was
on the CDs that were released back like, years ago. if you don't know, the Lord of
the Rings films are some...they're in my top three favorite films of all time. I
count them all as one in my head for this purpose. I fucking love the music.
this music is like the soundtrack to my adolescence, I know like every moment of
the music by heart pretty much and this is incredible. it's this beautiful box.
it's a beautiful picture of Elijah Wood, like a booklet explaining the different
of themes and scores and such. we have a piece of the Middle-earth map. I assume
the rest of the map comes with like the later
special edition recordings which is like real cheap. like you couldn't even give
me a full map picture? I'm gonna buy the future albums anyway. and then it has the
records themselves. they each have about five songs on each side, which is, you
know, better than the Kesha one. and they're longer songs for the most part.
yeah it has five records one two three four five yes five records, so much music. I
absolutely love this I haven't actually listened to the whole thing yeah I'm
gonna need to make it like an experience where I'm just like crying on the floor.
I listened to the first the full first album and it was beautiful and I just
loved it and it sounds so cool on like, as a record. what a beautiful thing to
own. I like, don't know how to display it but like it's got this beautiful spine, oh
my goodness. next is one of my favorite artists from especially in high school I
was super into Iron and Wine and this is Our Endless Numbered Days. which is just
probably my favorite record by him. it's also beautiful colors and like cover
here. this is so good on vinyl. like, it's so relaxing and it's such a beautiful
tone to it and I love it. if you want some nice chill music to
like take a nap to or read to. I used to write essays to Iron and Wine, so all in
all, a great album. I have one of my other favorite albums of all time. probably my
favorite artists of all time that is Stars' In Our Bedroom After the
War is probably my favorite album. I don't know it's-- I'm saying everything
... is my favorite right now, but this is just such a good album.
it's got so many bops but also so many like soft moments and I love it so much.
I'm seeing stars this weekend on the 21st,
yeah, the 21st in Tarrytown. next one's pretty cool, this actually is
my new Expectations by Hayley kiyoko and I ordered it through her website which
is cool because it's pearl. I think Kesha might be pearl as well, I
think but it's like a pearlized vinyl and it is gorgeous and also it came
with an extra sleeve that is signed. I don't know I like it came with two sleeves.
could have just given me the signed one. I don't need two, but you know, that's cool. I
could like frame one in my room or something maybe. just have like a nice
big butt in my room. not off-brand at all. oh look at this, so gorgeous. she's
so cool I love Hayley kiyoko. I've talked about
Hayley kiyoko fairly recently here so I won't like bore you, but she's great.
next I have two Christmas albums. I have a ton of Christmas albums that I have
like thrifted over the years back home and I only have two here I think which
is kind of sad but they are Julie Andrews children's mistletoe or
mistletoe Children's Chorus. to be honest I only like the Julie Andrews' songs and
then there's a bunch of songs sung by kids and I do not like that but sounds
really beautiful on vinyl and also it's just beautiful and it's Julie Andrews
and I love Christmas. the other one is Johnny Mathis Christmas.
Johnny Mathis, a classic, I just love Christmas. for Christmas this year my mom
got me this vintage Rogers and Hammerstein's because she knows that I
spend a lot of my time at a musical theater piano bar.
you got some Mary Poppins, you got some South Pacific, some carousel, some Oklahoma.
another Stars album because I'm typical. this is their most recent album There is
No Love in Fluorescent Light. a great album to listen to on vinyl because it's
gorgeous and again I've talked about this album. I think in a favorites video
last year at the end of last year. I loved it. it's one of my favorite albums
ever. I listen to it all of the time and it's great to cook too. I listen to it
when I'm cooking sometimes. I swear I had a Mumford & Sons vinyl here but maybe
not I do own a Mumford & Sons vinyl. I think it's just back home. we have Eartha
Kitt which is another one I got for Christmas from my mom and she like
went to a like vintage record store and picked me up some. first of all this
freakin sleeve is gorgeous, so much like color and I
love Eartha Kitt and it maybe my love for Eartha Kitt started with the Emperor's New
Groove but it has blossomed and I just love her. I love her voice, it's so
beautiful. it sounds so good on a record player when it like scratches ooh so
pretty so good. and the final one I have to show you, I swear I have more I feel
like I'm losing it, but the final one I have to show you is
of course Tegan and Sarah. and it's Love You to Death. this is their most
recent album. I have this poster hanging in my room and also a poster version of
it hanging on the wall behind that happy birthday banner that's been up for some
months. I love it. it's a great album. a lot of
people didn't like this album but I really did. I was really into Tegan and Sara
in high school and that I kind of didn't fall out of love I just didn't listen to
them as much for a while and then I got back into them fairly recently. so I
picked this up because I'd been listening to it a lot um online or on my
computer, in my phone and thought it'd be cool. and with that, I think this is all.
