Youtube daily can Aug 29 2018

now in the foods in the yogic culture we classify foods into three categories

these are called cetera tunnels and Rajas this can be put it this way pranic

food positive chronic food negative chronic food and zero pranic food

positive prana means it adds a certain pranic energy to the system when you

consume negative prana takes away energy from the system zero neither adds nor

takes away it's eaten for taste and lethargy have people like lethargy you

don't know yes a whole lot of people are telling me we enjoy sleep

nobody can enjoy sleep if you are enjoying sleep you're not sleeping you

may enjoy restfulness you may enjoy the aftereffect of good sleep that's

different you enjoy restfulness you cannot enjoy sleep you fix this in your

head yes or no restfulness must must for a human being because the rest is the

basis of all activity if there is no restfulness in you you are not capable

of dynamic activity yes or no if you're not rested can you be active no rest is

the basis of all activity rest is one thing sleep is another thing you must

differentiate between the two sleep is a certain inertia the

difference between life and death is just this life is a dynamic process of

the energy death is an inertia state of the energy sleep is playing between the

two the more you practice that unknowingly you are inviting death if

you slept for eight hours a day you are inviting death 20 years earlier or 30

years earlier than what it should have come yes or no so if you eat positive

chronic food energy will reverberate in a dynamic way if you eat negative

chronic food it takes away energy and causes certain deviations in energy if

you eat zero pranic it brings lethargy and maybe you can eat it for case to

some extent but look at this classification what are the foods which

fall under this there's no need to look at the positive because a whole lot of

them are positive I can't produce a list we look at the negative chronic list

it's a much shorter list list but unfortunately it may be a list of all

your favorite things too and top of the negative chronic list is garlic

garlic is a very powerful medicine but it's one thing to consume something as a

medicine and it's an entirely different thing to consume it as a daily food

substance it has many many medicinal qualities in Ayurveda and Siddha we use

garlic in a very powerful way for specific ailments but now your logic is

everyday if I pop whatever medicine I can I will be healthy in I rather we say

like this every root every leaf found on this planet has some medicinal quality

it's just that only a few we have learned how to use others we are yet to

learn how to use otherwise every one of them has some medicinal quality if we

are willing to pay attention and learn how to use them so now if you want to be

healthy what you do is anyway it's fall time there's a lot of leaf just go on

eat as much leaf as possible and also take up a few roots and eat it you will

be very healthy that's not how it works something specific for a specific

problem is different just generally consuming medicinal substances is a

different game isn't it garlic is a very powerful medicine if

properly used daily consumption no no because it plays on your nervous system

big time it is a very strong nervous stimulant if you use garlic your nervous

nervous system gets stimulated in a big way anything that stimulates now a

system holds you up for some time and then dumps you daily usage of nervous

stimulants in any form will slowly get you to a place that you become

insensitive to life that you cannot experience now you're holding dog is the

ideal because he's more sensitive than you his nervous system is far more

sensitive than you because he can feel things and know things that you cannot

know this is a higher design than the dog isn't it so shall I continue the

list or just I don't want to become unpopular here

garlic onion has supported a green chillies Oh as a food either maybe you

are not used to it it is something very commonly used in Indian cooking it's a

very strong stimulant should I continue

coffee tea

no tea means the caffeine tea is the tea other things are just placebos okay

they're not tea you can boil any flour any leave any root and call it t that's

not tea tea means the tea leaf which is caffeine all these are nervous

stimulants once in a way if you drink they have some benefits but if it

becomes a daily thing slowly it dulls your nervous system your ability to

experience life is gone we are looking at this dimension of the food mainly in

terms of your sensitive sensitivity to life largely people are ego sensitive

they are not life sensitive they can't feel life for them only their thought

and emotion is life because they can't feel life if you walk out into the

forest you can't feel the tree that's why you call it a wood you can't feel

the creatures around you simply because the sensitivity is gone in so many ways

one thing is just the modern life this television this traffic this constant

reverberations one thing I find when I come here is one thing that makes me get

out of buildings in this country is always something is buzzing you know

something is going it has a very bad effect in the human system see we are

also a kind of reverberation there must be space to allow our reverberations to

grow and spread now these machines have such powerful reverberation constantly

boom something is going on and on top of it what we cannot hear all these wi-fi's

and stuff they are doing their own thing yes in all this there is no room for you

to become life sensitive to sit here and be able to experience the whole universe

takes a certain level of sensitivity I am talking about nervous stimulants in

that context you are lowering the possibility of experiencing life see for

example if you just touch this not everybody will feel just to touch the

same way do you know this it depends on how sensitive your system

is if you feel this you can know many things if you're willing so I'm not a

coffee hater alright but what I am saying is a cup of coffee should not

determine the quality of your life by choice you drink today tomorrow you walk

away it's fine if it's a compulsion if I don't drink my coffee my day is ruined

then you have to do something about it yes I'm only talking about this the only

parameter is are you moving towards freedom or are you getting in slaved in

some way with a cup of liquid you shouldn't get enslaved yes we just about

anything you getting tangled up I am saying do everything by choice then

there's no problem if you do it by choice you know when to

start when to stop isn't it if you do it by compulsion what you start you cannot

stop this is the whole problem it's not like you you become a fanatic I don't

need this I don't need that I eat this I don't need that don't become a food

fanatic it's just that eat by choice every meal

must be by choice not that you've decided this is what you will eat and

this is what you will not eat don't make food into religion it is not it is a

choice and the choice should be according to the needs of the body not

according to social needs not according to cultural needs according to the needs

of this body isn't it

so among the positive planning foods there are a few foods which are very

very positive

you

on top of the list is what is called as an ash guard I think here they call it a

winter melon it is not of the same potency as we find in India the Indian

ash gourd is like phenomenal Asgard is very positive black pepper is very

positive honey is one substance on the planet whose

chemical composition is very close to that of human blood daily consumption of

honey can do wonderful things to you and honey is an extremely good thing to eat

especially if you have children at home make honey culture part of your thing

psychological stability physical well-being vitality all these things can

be greatly enhanced simply consuming daily honey if you have excess fat in

your body if you drink honey with warm water it breaks down the fat in the

system if you drink it with cold water it will give you weight

when we say tamas rajas and does sattva what it means is those kind of food

substances which create lethargy in the system

dullness increases sleep sleep means that you are dead for eight hours a day

or 10 hours a day whatever or one third of your life your enemy dead regice

means you are active in the world activity without the necessary awareness

after some time you will get frustrated with activity because suddenly one day

when you stop and look you don't know why you're doing what you're doing

Thomas means you're conscious it bring consciousness it's not just in food this

is in us we are also recognizing foods which support this that's all it is not

that food will cause these qualities in you you have this quality some should

support that some foods don't support that that's about it

food is not a deciding factor you can eat garbage and still be a Buddha but

why it's something which doesn't support you and go against it so it is like you

bought a diesel car and you put kerosene in it you buy a petrol car and you put

diesel in it it will still go but it will not function at its optimal so we

should see what kind of food are we designed for if you look at this

fundamentally there are various aspects which will tell you certain stories

about what you should eat now it is not only about human beings it is about the

individual human being right now what is the nature of your quality accordingly

you should eat if you leave it your senses your senses know what to eat how

much to eat how much of what to eat but because too much education sense is gone

everything is by information what to eat they will google and see if you you need

initially you said if a farmer can be told about methodological predictions if

fishermen can be told about metallurgical productions how things

will happen I want you to understand even now the best fishermen in the world

never look at the methodological production predictions I have been on

fishing boats with some people off the African coast and Mediterranean coast

they put the nose up in the air and it says in two hours there will be a strong

storm we need to go back ok he never looks at the thing because every other

creature knows that is going to burst Tom if you observe the fish they are all

behaving you know when tsunami happened in southern India we were the first

people to be there in less than 24 hours we were there with medical vans and I

was personally there what I noticed was there were lots of dead bodies human

dead bodies cattle which were tied down they had died none of the loose cattle

had died even the donkeys did not die even the fish not a single dead fish on

the beach all of them knew it's coming only human beings did not know it's

coming not only that in under months we have a Air Force Station they have the

best metal logically stuff they did not know it's coming and the entire Air

Force Base got really washed up why I am telling this to you is because when we

say we are the most evolved life on this planet what it means is

we have the most complex and sophisticated neurological system if we

have the most complex and sophisticated neurological system we must be able to

sense more things than anybody can sense isn't it no no don't clap we are not

sensing anything but now because of a little cerebral activity our thought and

emotion has overtaken us in such a way what you think and feel has become

paramount your psychological drama has bigger has become bigger than the cosmic

drama yes what you are thinking today isn't it more important than what's

happening in the entire cosmos so because of this fallacy because of this

misunderstanding because you're too engrossed in your own psychological

drama you can't sense it otherwise I must tell you this

I was living in a farm in a remote place outside of Mysore

many years ago I hired one guy who's hearing was very bad because his hearing

is bad he looks like a fool because he doesn't understand what people say so in

the village everybody makes fun of him they call him names and things and you

know treat him badly so I said you come and live on my farm so he lived on he

will simply sit like this because he can't have conversations if I have to

have conversation with him I have to shout at him he will understand half the

sentence so he simply sits suddenly one day you gets up and starts preparing the

plow and the bullocks I said what are you doing he says no tomorrow we will

plow I said Who there is the rain says no it's going to rain tonight

look at the sky it's all empty sky how is it going to rain today no Swami it

will rain today and it will for sure rain today and tomorrow morning is

truth-loving at 5:30 in the morning and I thought oh this dumb idiot he knows

something that I don't know so I went there and had just liked him

squatting where he used to sit same place and I put my hand out like this

like this trying to feel the moisture temperature smell of the earth this this

this I took eighteen months every day I sat

because I was insulted this dumb idiot know something that I don't know

I can't take it so i sat there felt it watch the leaves watch the insect watch

the birds then today I will tell you if I say there's going to be rain ninety

percent there is going to be arraigned this is not some magic this is not some

yoga this is just observation that's all see if is a question of survival eat

garbage and you survive what's the problem if it's about survive I think

largely view past that situation of how to survive now it's a question of choice

we've brought life to everything to a choice almost every human being can

choose and eat this still is a segment of unfortunate population which cannot

choose they have to eat what comes but that's not so in this country definitely

one can choose and eat so once choice comes what to eat there's

a whole dimension of how to know what we eat and what not to eat if I go into

this this an elaborate affair but every human being can generate the necessary

awareness that if food appears you know what to eat and what not to eat above

all what kind of food is your system designed for that is the kind of food

you eat don't make food into your philosophy or

a religion food is about the body it must go through the system with minimum

amount of resistance for example because the question is about vegetarian or

non-vegetarian how we look at the food is if you eat any food what is happening

is the food has to become a part of your system it has to be integrated to be

come you if the food that you consume has a very complex sense of memory and

information then our body's ability to break it and make it a part of our cells

is reduced if you eat a simple memory code or the genetic code in a particular

creature let's say you eat and vegetable it is very simple or in other words in

the evolutionary scale whatever is farthest away from you that's what you

must consume or in other words you'll never consume a mammal because it is too

close to you and it's memory is too complex and you will never be able to

break it down 100% if you consume this partly you break the break down the

genetic code another part of it remains or in other words gradually the animal

qualities will enter your system and unknowingly these things will find

expression people are going through anger stress just simply rage everywhere

this is simply because of the one main reason is the food that they're

consuming so whatever is the simplest memory cold that is what you must

consume so that easily you can break it down and make it a part of yourself or

whatever is farthest away from you in the evolutionary scale that's the best

thing so in that context if you must eat non-vegetarian food the fish is the best

thing to eat because it is the first form of life on this planet as it gets

more complex as you come towards mammals is becoming very complex and that's not

suitable for human consumption we can show various parameters in the body the

length of the elementary can all how things happen in the system if you look

at all this clearly the body is stating what it wants when it comes to food you

should not ask your doctor a guru or a nutritionist now you must ask your body

you eat something and see how quickly the food moves out of your stomach back

into the intestine if it's happening very quickly within 2 and 1/2 hours if

everything is gone that's good food to eat if it's lingering on between 4 to 6

hours that not good thing to eat

you

COOL, SHORT BOOKS YOU CAN READ IN A DAY! - Duration: 9:54.

Hi friends! My name is Gaby and thank you for watching this video

I'm so happy to be back today

with a new video

I feel like aI haven't filmed a video in a million years!

I'm being very dramatic clearly

The truth is my channel's transition from English to Spanish (Turn on notifications)

hasn't been the easiest

I lost motivation

But I love making videos, so I'm back

The important thing is not how many views you get

rather that you enjoy creating content

Today's video is about cool, short books

that you can read in just a day

Trust me when I say you can read these in a day

If I can, then you definitely can

I am a very slow reader

All the books I will talk about today are no longer than 300 pages

so it's easy to read them in one day

Let's begin with this list of short books

I will begin by talking about one of my favorite authors

Her name is Gillian Flynn

I have two of her books on this list

The first one is called The Grownup

It hasn't been translated yet

This story is part of an anthology that was edited by George R.R. Martin

I don't recall the name of the anthology but I'll insert a picture here (Rogues)

In case you're interested in that

This is the shortest book I'll be talking about today

It's only 64 pages long

I was able to read this story in an hour/hour and a half

I was pleasantly surprised with this one

It's not as creepy as I'd heard

But it does have a heavy suspenseful atmosphere

It's about a fortune teller

She's clearly a phony, but that's how she makes a living

One day she comes across a woman

that seeks her out for help with her house, which the woman thinks is haunted

The fortune teller gets hired to cleanse this house of spirits

Apparently, she also offered those type of services

That's when some scary things start to happen

A lot of weird stuff goes down

It does hook you

The next book is also by Gillian Flynn

It's called Sharp Objects

It is 254 pages long

The main character is named Camille, she's a reporter

She run away from her small town when she was younger

A typical literary rural small town where everyone knows everyone's business

She gets assigned to a story that is happening in her small, hometown called Wind Gap

She has to go back

Recently, a girl was murdered there

When Camille gets there, another body of a girl is discovered

The story also explores the relationship Camille has with her estranged family

They are an important and known family in the town

Camille does not get along with her mother

I don't want to go into further detail, but it is so good

and I recommend it if you like thrillers

The next one is a modern classic and it is The Great Gatsby

by F. Scott Fitzgerald

This is 184 pages long

I had to read this in a day

It was assigned reading for one of my literature classes in college

I procrastinated and I had to read it prior to going to class that same day

I was able to finish it on time

This is one of those classics where opinion is very mixed

There's people like me that love it

But there's a lot of people that think this shouldn't even be considered a modern classic

And just in case you don't know what this is about

The main character is the young Jay Gatsby

He's a new millionaire

Daisy Buchanan is the girl that he'd been in love with when he was younger

He was in the army at the time I believe, but he had to leave her

because he was not the adequate marriage candidate for Daisy

Later, Daisy marries to a man that comes from a family with money

While this is happening, Jay Gatsby comes into money

The book begins when Gatsby has already made his fortune

and he throws lavish parties

in the hopes of Daisy showing up to one

so he can see her again

The story is narrated by Nick Carraway

who is a man that is renting the small house next to Gatsby's mansion

This is essentially a love story

They way Gatsby strives to be a man worth of Daisy's love

The question is whether Daisy is worth his efforts or not

The next books I'll be talking about are all in the YA genre

and they're also super quick reads

The first one is called If I Stay

by Gayle Forman and it is 201 pages long

It's about a girl that's in a car accident when the book begins

She was with her family

Everyone in the family dies except for her

The main character named Mia

is left in a coma

The book is about Mia recalling important moments in her life while she's in the coma

And it poses the question whether Mia should stay

Keep living, even though her mom, dad and little bother are no longer alive

Or whether she should go with them

The next one is called Speak

The author is Laurie Halse Anderson

It has 192 pages

This story moves at a slower pace than some of the other books I've mentioned today

But it is worth the read. It is one of my favorites in the YA genre

The themes in this book are strong

It's about a girl that is raped at a party when the book begins

She calls the cops after this happens

When the new school year starts

because this happened at the end of the previous school year

no one at school will talk to her

Everyone knows that she is the girl that called the cops

a lot of the kids at the party got in trouble due to this call

But no one knows why she did that

because she never told anyone what happened to her at that party

She's kept it a secret for months

She no longer speaks literally

She has no voice because she can't use it

to tell the truth

The next book is called Flipped

and the author is Wendilin Van Draanen

This one is 212 pages long

I couldn't find a Spanish translation for this book

This is a book that I read a long time ago

I remember I liked it a lot

It's a very cute romantic story about a boy and girl

Her name is Julie and his name is Bryce

They meet when they are 6 years old

when Bryce's family moves into Julie's neighborhood

Julie develops a huge crush on Bryce

But as they grow up, Julie begins to realize

that Bryce is not the boy she dreamed of

She starts to see him for who he really is

In the meantime, Bryce realizes

that he could be interested in Julie

When they were younger, Bryce avoided Julie at all costs

Julie's attention was unwanted by Bryce, and he saw her as a nuisance

As time passes, Bryce develops a crush on Julie

and he slowly stars falling hard for her

At the same time, Julie is falling out of love with Bryce

So we see them as kids when Julie is in deep for Bryce

then the characters grow older and now it's Bryce that covets Julie's affection

but Julie is no longer interested

It's a very cute story, super quirky

I read the next one recently

I have talked about this book before on my channel

I will leave a link to the video where I discuss the next book in the description box

The book is called We Are Okay by Nina LaCour

This book is 272 pages long

I read this one so fast

It's one of those books that is not heavy on plot

It focuses more on the characters

and how they change throughout the story

It does move at a slow pace

But it is a great read

It is a sad one; it will make you cry

Next one's called Dash and Lily's Book of Dares

It's by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

It has 260 pages

The main characters are Dash and Lily

I think the story begins when Lily writes in a notebook

that she leaves in a library or bookstore. I think it's a library

Like I was saying, Lily writes a question in a notebook

that she leaves in a library for someone to find and archive in another section of the library

She leaves the red notebook on a random shelf

Dash finds Lily's notebook and he answers by leaving his own set of clues

They begin this game where the notebook is being shelved all around the library

Lily answers with her own dare and then Dash

It's like a scavenger hunt

They start to get to know one another based on what they're writing in the notebook

The last book I'm going to recommend is called Finding Audrey

by Sophie Kinsella and it's 282 pages long

I really like her writing

She usually writes adult fiction

I guess what you could call "Chick-Lit"

But this falls into the YA genre

The main character is Audrey

She's a 14 year old with anxiety

Her anxiety prevents her from leaving the house

The anxiety was caused by an incident that happened when she was in middle school

Since then, she hasn't been able to go back to school

She's seeing a therapist

Later she meets a boy

She starts to like him, and he likes her back

They begin a romance

A lot of people criticize this book due to the romance and Audrey getting better

It didn't read like that to me. I think Sophie Kinsella did an amazing job with this book

She wrote a very real character with anxiety

She didn't write a character that falls in love and never has to deal with anxiety again

And that's all the short books that I'll be recommending today

I hope this video is not too long

I always think my video will be about 6 or 7 minutes long

But when I'm editing it turns into a 20 minute video

Hopefully, it is not super long

so that you guys can go read some these quick reads

that I think you will really enjoy

If you've already read some of these books

please let me know your thoughts in the comments

As always, sending you loads of positive vibes

And I'll see you in the next one

Rajyavardhan Rathore Asks Sadhguru - How Can Youth Beat Stress & Be Happy? - Duration: 6:25.

Namaskar Sadhguru The period of youth is defined by challenges goals achievements

and ambitions many chase success as defined by others in this

hyper-connected information saturated era there is the added stress of

information overload and work-related burnout such stress takes away the

happiness of AI youngsters we see more and more cases of depression amongst

youth how can the youth in such challenging times continent be happy I

want to know the truth about youth and happiness namaskaram Raj and in every

generation there is a set of people who are always complaining about something

and of course there are people who are making use of the situation's of their

times as a generation today we have more conveniences comforts and we are able to

know whatever we wish to know people who are complaining about information

overload they must visualize and see that a thousand years ago you wouldn't

know what's happening hundred kilometers away if even there was a great calamity

or something fantastic happen 100 kilometers away it would take a month or

two months for you to get the information today anywhere in the world

whatever is happening comes to you quickly and are you complaining about it

please do not complain about it because this is one of the greatest privileges

that we have as a generation that technologically we are empowered like

never before never before another humanity had the capabilities that we

have simply because of technological empowerment it is just that you have not

prepared yourself for the life that you need to handle in the sense

right now you're complaining about technology which has made your life easy

and comfortable I want you to just imagine a thousand years ago if you

lived here ah in the morning when you wake up you need

water for your use you will have to walk down to the river and carry two buckets

full of water believe me most of the youth today are not even fit enough to

carry two buckets of water for a mile physically they're just not capable of

doing it so if you are here at thousand years ago without technology would you

carry these bucket rules of water without complaint no you would complain

because you are physically not capable similarly if you have not made yourself

mentally capable of handling various realities of today then you complain so

what the youth needs to understand is the early part of their life the most

important thing is not your ambitions not your desires to be fulfilled not the

lifestyles that you aspire for the only thing that you should be concerned about

is how to enhance this life to a higher level of possibility if you do invest

enough time in the inner development of who you are handling the present

situations will be effortless and above all you will not be complaining about

the greatest gifts that have been offered to you in this generation never

before you could fly from India to United States in 14 hours time never

before you could pick up your phone and talk to somebody in any part of the

world never before you could see a million things happening all over the

world and even in the outer space you can see what's happening please do not

complain about these great gifts that you have you have to equip yourself

equipping yourself means there are technologies for inner well-being what

we are transmitting as inner engineering is just this that you engineer yourself

in such a way that you fit for life instead of making yourself fit for life

you're asking life around you to change for your love

unfitness please don't do this right now the world is not moving any faster then

what it was a few thousand years ago the world is still spinning at the same time

it is just that we feel that the distances have been reduced simply

because of technological progress that we have this is the most fantastic thing

that's happened to human being sees we are so technologically empowered we can

see beyond our normal vision you can hear beyond your normal sense of hearing

you can experience things beyond your normal sense of experience it's just

that you have to upgrade yourself the technology around you is phenomenally

upgrading itself every few months or years it's time you upgrade yourself

upgradation of this technology up gradation of who you are enhancement of

this life needs to happen this is what in engineering or yoga means that you

focus on enhancing this life without enhancing this life if you enhance your

activity of course you suffer the activity it is like taking an old junky

car on a f1 track it will fall apart that's all that's happening to people

it's time that instead of just educating our children just to make a living just

to find a job just to get into this one or that one we have to educate our

children to first of all enhance themselves tools for self transformation

of the most important requirement of this age because external situations are

going to be largely handled by machines it's very important you are little

smarter than the machines that you handle

you

You Can Now Apply To Be Verified In Instagram | Tech News Global - Duration: 2:57.

Instagram is letting more people apply for verification starting today, and it's also

rolling out general security improvements.

Accounts that have large audiences can now directly ask for verification through a form,

instead of hoping that Instagram will one day grant them the status, or by paying on

the black market.

To apply, just go to your profile, head into Settings, and tap Request Verification.

Then you'll need to give Instagram your account name, full name, and legal or business

ID.

After an unspecified time, Instagram will notify you whether your request has been approved

or rejected.

The Facebook-owned company is also looking into improving security for users.

Now third-party authenticator apps like Google Authenticator and DUO Mobile work with Instagram.

So you can modify your two-factor authentication in Settings to receive codes through third-party

apps, instead of over text message, for a more secure alternative.

To give users more information on accounts with a lot of clout, Instagram is adding an

About This Account feature.

Instagram accounts with large followings are going to display when they joined the platform,

the country they're located in, any username changes in the past year, and any ads the

account runs.

In a blog post, Instagram writes, "Our community has told us that it's important to them

to have a deeper understanding of accounts that reach many people on Instagram."

The information feature comes after Facebook announced additional security measures meant

to catch misleading accounts, like checking what country the account is based in.

In particular, these measures address the role that Russian fake accounts played during

the 2016 election and the Russian and Iranian influence campaigns that have continued to

publish political content on social media networks.

Users with large accounts will be able to review the information in private on their

accounts in September and then the feature will open up for public viewing in following

months.

Support for third-party authentication apps will become available to everyone in the next

few weeks.

Instagram intends the new update to improve overall security and help people figure out

which accounts are authentic.

The moves all feel like the Facebook-owned company is attempting to grow up.

Even so, Instagram "know[s] we have more work to do to keep bad actors off Instagram,"

writes co-founder and CTO Mike Krieger.

Can Irish Potatoes Be Grown in the Fall? - Duration: 5:50.

well folks you know what they say there's a first time for everything

and this year planting fall potatoes is definitely a first for us no I'd never

heard of anybody in the South growing potatoes in the fall but in talking to

our tater man over at Irish eyes he highly recommended it and said we should

easily be able to get a good crop potatoes off in the fall now I'm still a

little warm here the highs during the day around 90 or so

but it should start getting cooler pretty soon which is what these potatoes

will prefer now the variety we're growing this fall is a Yukon Gold and

we've tried these before and had good success with them so we're hoping for

good results this fall now the problem is the seed potato producers don't

usually have any potatoes available this time of year towards the end of August

so what we had to do is we had to buy these a couple months ago and just put

them in the fridge and let them sit there until we got ready to plant them

because when we received these potatoes a lot of them had buds on them already a

half inch or inch long so we didn't want those to keep growing so we put them in

the fridge just kind of stunt their growth we can pull them out and cut them

up plant them when we're ready now I've seen some people will plant the whole

potato but we've always cut up our potatoes and the main reason behind that

is we didn't just make them go further we can get more out of a bag of taters

if we cut them up and the second reason we cut our potatoes is to grow bigger

potatoes now if you look on your seed potatoes you'll see the eyes or buds

there where that potatoes starting to sprout and the more of those that you

plant in a specific spot the more potatoes you're going to get but if you

have too many eyes in that spot you're going to end up with a lot of small

potatoes now the fewer eyes you plant in that

spot you're going to get fewer potatoes but you're going to get bigger potatoes

and with these Yukon Golds we're aiming to get bigger potatoes so for us it's

the easy decision to get more rows of potatoes and to grow bigger potatoes by

cutting these guys and reducing the number of eyes we have

in a specific spot now let's talk about actually planting the potatoes so I

played around with some potato row spacing in the past and I've tried to

plant potato rows as close as two foot together what happens when you get the

potato rows to close is there's not enough available dirt between the rows

that throw up on the potatoes and hill them as they grow so from my experience

just three foot is about as narrow as you want to go and your distance between

your potato rows now you can certainly go wider than that and plant them four

or five foot or even more apart if you've got the space but I'm a little

tight on space this fall and so these right here we're planted on three-foot

rows the first thing we want to do to plant our potatoes is we want to mark

off our rows and then we want to make a furrow to plant those potatoes in now I

used to use a string to lay off my rows to get them absolutely perfectly

straight but the older I get the less I care if my rows are a little bit crooked

so I just put a stick at the end each row and just drive to it and get as

straight as I can that way so I use my double wheel hoe when my plow set on

there in the furrow in position to run along there and make my trenches or my

furrows that I'm gonna plant my potatoes in then I took my pieces of seed potato

and I place them along that furrow about every eight inches now we don't have to

be really exact with this just kind of ballpark it but about on average eight

inches apart and after I've laid those potatoes in the fir then all we got to

do is come behind there and cover them up make a little hill on top of those

potatoes sitting in that furrow so for that I use my higher arch wheel hoe and

I had the plow set put in the healing position so I can run along there

straddle those potatoes and cover them up as I run along the road now you can

certainly use the double wheel hoe for the furrow wing portion and the

healing portion of planning the potatoes or you could use the higher arch for

both the furrowing and healing portions this is just what I had set up currently

so it was easier just to grab the double wheel hoe it was already set up in the

furling position and then after that grabbed the high arch which was already

set up in the healing position now if you've seen some of our

other videos you know that we like to plant almost everything in our garden on

the drip tape but potatoes are one of those things that I don't plan on drip

tape anymore I've experimented with this both ways and the years where I use drip

tape I feel like the dirt just got a little too wet I didn't get as good of

production and I had a little bit of a rotting issue with some of the potatoes

because the soil was too wet so the last few times I've grown potatoes I hat and

put drip on them and I've kept that soil down they're a little more dry and I've

gotten better results so if your climate allows definitely give fall potatoes to

trial we're really excited to try it this year and we think it's going to

turn out really good for us if you're interested in any other products shown

in this video we'll have a link in the description there where you can take a

look at those thanks for watching

Can this plant be saved? - Duration: 9:23.

My name is Jeb and I grew some bok choy in buckets recently.

Day 41

The buckets were too small so I

Ran into some problems

So I went out and I built some bigger buckets

Good thing I got the

New Air EC111w evaporative cooler to help me out

One of the great things is it's got a remote

And that good because I'm lazy

Plus it has a place to store the remote

Which is good because I'm forgetful

I like this spinny fan thing

It allows you to add turbulence without needing to oscillate back and forth

It's great for tight spaces

Here you can see after just a couple minutes

It's cooling down the plants and adding humidity

I'm going to show you how I built these buckets

To start out I'm going to see how much water goes in here

I just want a couple inches deep

This is the 5 gallon (19 liter) mark

Looks good to me

I'm trying to figure out where the net cup is going to dip down to

These holes are for a support rod

This is my Counter-Strike (video game) version of

Proper sanitation

Let's clean this bleach up properly

Something's missing

It's so

Shiny

Got to hold the light up somehow

Don't forget to clean up the mess

I'm going to send some plastic bits to the landfill

I'm so sorry

Footage from winter garden

I haven't been mixing my dry ingredients into the water very thoroughly

This time I'm going to dump it right under the plant

It's probably a bad idea

Oops!

I'm using the same lights as I did in the last grow

I'll put a link to that video in the description too

Day 4

The seeds are up already

And the plants are looking great

Day 7

The glare off this (aluminum) foil is

Really uncomfortable

I can't decide which one these to pull out yet

Day 15 - It looks like my shenanigans with dumping fertilizer right under the plants

Has angered nature

I'm going to try just reaching in and swooshing the water around

See if that helps

I'm going to raise the lights a little too

It should help reduce transpiration and

Give these plants some relief from the fertilizer burn

Day 21

The damaged leaves will never recover but

The new growth looks better

Kinda

This evaporative cooler is working great though

Check out the description for details on it

Day 29

I'd really like to see these plants recover now but

Day 36

They've had a hard start

Might have to let them go

Leave me a comment about what you would do

Would you try to let them grow or

Start over from scratch?
