Explaining the news to our kids How to make sense of the nonsensical - Duration: 6:26.

Explaining the news to our kids How to make sense of the nonsensical

Shootings, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, end-of-the-world predictions even political

coverage of current events can be upsetting news for adults, not to mention kids.

In our 24/7 news world, its become nearly impossible to shield kids from distressing

current events.

According to Common Sense Medias report, News and Americas Kids: How Young People

Perceive and Are Impacted by the News, kids get their news from family, friends, teachers,

and of course the internet.

Kids like to check their social media for shareable videos, posts, blogs, feeds, and

alerts.

But the news can stress them out.

Since much of this content comes from sites that are designed for adult audiences, what

your kids see, hear, or read might not always be age-appropriate.

Making things even more challenging is the fact that many kids are getting this information

directly on their phones and laptops.

Often parents arent around to immediately help their kids make sense of horrendous situations.

The bottom line is that young kids simply dont have the ability to understand news

events in context, much less know whether or not a source of information is credible.

And though older teens are better able to understand current events, even they face

challenges when it comes to sifting fact from opinion or misinformation.

No matter how old your kids are, threatening or upsetting news can affect them emotionally.

Many can feel worried, frightened, angry, or even guilty.

And these anxious feelings can last long after the news event is over.

So what can you do as a parent to help your kids deal with all this information?

TIPS FOR ALL KIDS Consider your own reactions.

Your kids will look to the way you handle the news to determine their own approach.

If you stay calm and rational, they will, too.

Take action.

Depending on the issue and kids ages, families can find ways to help those affected by the

news.

Kids can write postcards to politicians expressing their opinions; families can attend meetings

or protests; kids can help assemble care packages or donate a portion of their allowance to

a rescue/humanitarian effort.

Check out websites that help kids do good.

TIPS FOR KIDS UNDER 7 Keep the news away.

Turn off the TV and radio news at the top of the hour and half hour.

Read the newspaper out of range of young eyes that can be frightened by the pictures (kids

may respond strongly to pictures of other kids in jeopardy).

Preschool kids dont need to see or hear about something that will only scare them

silly, especially because they can easily confuse facts with fantasies or fears.

Stress that your family is safe.

At this age, kids are most concerned with your safety and separation from you.

Try not to minimize or discount their concerns and fears, but reassure them by explaining

all the protective measures that exist to keep them safe.

If the news event happened far away, you can use the distance to reassure kids.

For kids who live in areas where crime and violence is a very real threat, any news account

of violence may trigger extra fear.

If that happens, share a few age-appropriate tips for staying and feeling safe (being with

an adult, keeping away from any police activity).

Be together.

Though its important to listen and not belittle their fears, distraction and physical

comfort can go a long way.

Snuggling up and watching something cheery or doing something fun together may be more

effective than logical explanations about probabilities.

TIPS FOR KIDS 812 Carefully consider your childs maturity

and temperament.

Many kids can handle a discussion of threatening events, but if your kids tend toward the sensitive

side, be sure to keep them away from the TV news; repetitive images and stories can make

dangers appear greater, more prevalent, and closer to home.

Be available for questions and conversation.

At this age, many kids will see the morality of events in stark black-and-white terms and

are in the process of developing their moral beliefs.

You may have to explain the basics of prejudice, bias, and civil and religious strife.

But be careful about making generalizations, since kids will take what you say to the bank.

This is a good time to ask them what they know, since theyll probably have gotten

their information from friends, and you may have to correct facts.

Talk about and filter news coverage.

You might explain that even news programs compete for viewers, which sometimes affects

content decisions.

If you let your kids use the Internet, go online with them.

Some of the pictures posted are simply grisly.

Monitor where your kids are going, and set your URLs to open to non-news-based portals.

TIPS FOR TEENS

Check in.

Since, in many instances, teens will have absorbed the news independently of you, talking

with them can offer great insights into their developing politics and their senses of justice

and morality.

It will also help you get a sense of what they already know or have learned about the

situation from their own social networks.

It will also give you the opportunity to throw your own insights into the mix (just dont

dismiss theirs, since that will shut down the conversation immediately).

Let teens express themselves.

Many teens will feel passionately about events and may even personalize them if someone they

know has been directly affected.

Theyll also probably be aware that their own lives could be affected by violence.

Try to address their concerns without dismissing or minimizing them.

If you disagree with media portrayals, explain why so your teens can separate the mediums

through which they absorb news from the messages conveyed.

Trial and Error - How to Constantly Keep Getting Better (My Cold Email Journey) - Duration: 3:04.

Hey, in today's video, I wanna talk about

trial and error and how you constantly keep getting better.

And apologies in advance for our normal

Wednesday video not being up.

My computer got completely destroyed.

It's at the Apple Store right now getting fixed,

so next week, regular Cold Email Teardown.

This week, similar to a Monday video, so stay tuned.

When I first started Cold Email, it was to

promote the very, very first startup

I did called Startup Find It, and it was a matchmaking tool

where people could go onto this website

and find a list of the best SaaS apps,

and to help validate it, I was running

Ash Maurya's techniques from the book Running Lean

which I actually had him on the podcast,

so that should be a really good interview coming up.

And that technique is you come up with a business idea

and then get people on the phone using cold email

to get feedback on that idea.

So I sent those cold emails out initially,

and I was getting a lot of negative responses on the emails.

And so I did what I think a lot of you do,

which is I looked up cold email scripts,

actually copy and pasted some scripts,

which is something I don't recommend doing right now,

but those scripts actually ended up working,

and through those scripts, I met with the CEO of Udemy,

I met with the CEO of Vungle and then a bunch of these

other funded startups that were coming up in like 2013.

And that initial trial was the test

that proved that cold email worked,

at least for me, at least for testing

this initial startup idea.

I wasn't as disciplined back then as I am now,

so I didn't stick with that idea, right,

kept pivoting, did restaurant sales,

moved to New York, did startup sales and all that

before becoming CEO, but that initial trial is all it took.

So I know in past videos I've talked about how it's bad

to steal other people's email scripts,

and the main reason it's bad is because the email scripts

sometimes don't work, but if that's all you can do

to test whether cold emails are gonna work for you,

if the easiest test you can pull is to find somebody

in a different niche than you, copy paste the email,

customize it so it's fitting your niche,

then that's the test you have to do

to prove that cold emails work.

And then you use trial and error to get better.

I've been sending cold emails now

for four years, five years.

It's still the most effective channel that I've found,

at least for the way that I sell,

but all the frameworks, all the templates,

everything that I know works and doesn't work

just comes from experience.

It comes from sending literally over a million cold emails.

I used to have a talk called What We Learned

Sending a Million Cold Emails

when I was a CMO at InspireBeats.

So here's a little Wednesday morning

motivation for you then.

Keep at it, your emails are eventually gonna get opened.

Cold email is the most effective channel.

I know some people hype Facebook ads, all that stuff.

I never got any of that stuff to work nearly as effective

as cold email, so stick with it.

And if you have any questions about cold selling

or how to get your emails opened,

how to get responses, how to close deals,

anything like that, leave them down in the comments.

Thanks for watching, if you like this type of video,

please subscribe for B2B sales training,

like to encourage this type of content,

and if you need marketing support for your digital agency,

Thanks.

How to Generate More Leads With Your Case Studies | Convert with Case Studies - Duration: 5:04.

After a prospect finishes your case study,

what do they do next?

If you don't tell them what to do, you're missing out

on an opportunity to generate another lead,

or another demo, or another sales call.

In this video, I'm going to show you

what four companies are doing to generate more leads

with their case studies through calls to action.

I'm Mike Russell from convertwithcasestudies.com.

The place where marketers go to build trust and boost sales

with their customers' success stories.

(upbeat music)

Our first stop is AlienVault, and you can see here,

just below the description on the client,

they have a Start Your Free Trial button.

And then, farther down in the case study,

about the second page, in fact,

they have another Start Your Free Trial button.

And so, the idea here is that, at whatever point

the prospect thinks, "Yeah, this is something

"that I want to learn more about," you capture

that attention, and you get them to transition

to sign up for a free trial.

In this case, when you click that button,

you go to a sign up page, like this, and it's very simple.

So, you catch the reader's interest in the moment,

and you make it as easy as possible for them to convert.

Our next stop is Yubico.

This is a case study about their helping Facebook.

Now, just at the bottom of the About Facebook section,

they have a little description saying

please watch the 30 minute presentation,

or read the summary of the presentation,

which is the case study.

And I don't know about you, but I would much prefer

to read a three minute summary before deciding

if I wanted to watch the thirty minute presentation.

So it's good to include that call to action

in case someone wants to consume that extra content,

but not force them to do so.

And then, if we scroll down to the bottom of the case study,

we can see another mention of that presentation here,

along with another article that was written

about Yubico helping Facebook.

That's a really smart piece of social proof

to include at the bottom.

But then, below that is a small call to action.

Find out more about YubiKey for Businesses.

Now, here, there's no design element

calling the reader's attention.

No text box, no larger font size,

and so, I would guess that a lot of people

would jump right over that,

from the bottom of the case study,

to the footer, or just move away,

because they don't see the case study.

So I suspect Yubico would benefit from having

a colored text box, or some other kind of design element,

like we just saw with AlienVault.

Our next stop is Tenable.

And, in this case study, they have,

they mention their product only four times,

but then they include the call to action

with the product name.

So we're scrolling down,

only see the product mentioned a couple of times,

which is good practice anyway,

and then down here at the bottom they include

the product name in when the call to action.

So you can get a demo about the very product

that you've just been reading in this case study.

That's a really smart transition from reading a case study

to taking the next step of action,

and making that transition as smooth as possible.

Now, let's go to Mimecast.

Here in their case study, they've got a fixed footer

at the bottom of the page that scrolls with you,

and calls you to chat with sales,

schedule a demo, or get a quote.

They really want you to get in touch,

and they're very clear about how they want you to do that.

The only thing I would add here,

is adding the product name to the calls to action.

So, if Mimecast has a particular product

that they're mentioning in the case study,

include that product name in the call to action,

to just make more of a natural progression for the reader.

And then, if we look at Mimecast's PDF version

of their case study, they've got the same three

calls to action at the very bottom here.

Schedule a meeting, chat with sales, and get a quote.

And those are clickable links right in the PDF.

So they're making it very easy for readers

who are even a little bit interested

to take the next step in the sales process.

Alright, let's summarize.

So, of course, the first thing I want you to do

is to include a call to action in your case study,

and I want you to make it visually distinct.

You want to draw the reader's eye to that point,

even if they just skim the headline and the subheaders.

And then, in that call to action,

include the product's name.

You want to make the transition from reading the case study

to taking the next step in the sales process

as smooth and logical as possible.

And why limit yourself to one call to action?

You could ask them to schedule a demo,

or start a free trial, or have a call with your sales team.

If you found this video helpful,

please share it with others.

The more people it helps, the better.

And then head over to convertwithcasestudies.com,

where you'll find my free email course,

The Internet's Best Case Study Hacks.

I've distilled hundreds of articles about case studies

to the very essence, and I've made it

all available to you for free.

I'm Mike Russell from convertwithcasestudies.com.

Thanks for watching.

(upbeat music)

(blows raspberry)

...and the best...

You can see here, no, you can't see it there.

I'm not sure what to do here.

Alright, I guess I have to reboot this.

How to add beads to a crochet shawl - crochet quick tip - Duration: 3:31.

so in this video I'm showing you one way

...as to...how you can add beads to your

project. I'm using acrylic beads for this

one - I'm going to add these beads to the

edging of a lace shawl project that I'm

making ....and you're also go to need a small

crochet hook that will fit through the

hole of your beads.... this one is a zero

point six millimeter crochet hook.... and

then you'll need your regular regular

crochet hook that you're using for the

project. And the reason why I'm using

this method for this project is that I'm

using this type of cotton/acrylic yarn

that has not been spun, but consists of

four threads just lying besides each other

so if I were to just take my beads and

slide them all on the string of yarn at

once ...the yarn would Pucker and the beads

will get caught so first you'll just

start by using your regular hook to

work up the stitch pattern that you're

making and I'm just going to work until

the middle of this next motive

so I'm going to chain five stitches here

and I'm going to pull up this loop and

I'm going to remove this working hook

and then I'm going to take my smaller

hook and I'm going to take one of these

beads and then I'll place the yarn on

the hook like this and pull down the

yarn to create a tension.... then I'll

use my right thumb to slide the bead

over the yarn ...down to the end of the

loop like this, and take your working

hook and pull down tight and now chain 1

to secure the bead ...and now you have

placed your bead and you can just

continue on with your pattern.... like so

so as you can see, you can place your

feet in the middle of a chain row that's

what you want.... it will look like this.... thanks

Stalling a Manual Car :: How to Never Stall a Manual Car | Manual Transmission Smart - Duration: 8:37.

Hi there smart drivers. Rick with Smart Drive Test talking to you today about

stalling a manual transmission vehicle. Yes eventually it's going to happen. Now

before we get started here if you're working towards license or restarting

your career as a truck or bus driver be sure to hit that subscribe button get

all the great videos that will ensure that you pass your license test now

stalling a manual transmission vehicle ID the last video we did Lesson four I

actually stalled the vehicle and actually I was going to edit that bit

out but after in post-production there I thought that I should leave it in so I

did and I got a comment from Todd learned diaper yes that's that's the

username and he said that he didn't feel so bad about himself after I actually

left that in and so what I thought I would do was give you more explanation

about how to actually get the vehicle going it's just a matter of pushing the

clutch into the floor turning the key to the off position turn it back on and

restart the vehicle and just get going again really what is important is

knowing that it's not a matter of if it's going to happen it's a matter when

it's going to happen and just to practice you know a couple of times in

the parking lot dump the clutch push the clutch in turn the key off turn it back

on start the vehicle and get it going again

but don't panic don't get pressured by other vehicles on the roadway because we

all know the pressures of social driving so just take a breath

push the clutch in turn it off turn it back on and get going again as quickly

and expediently as possible so that's what we're going to do today install the

vehicle and get it going again and show you how to get going after you make the

mistake of doing that so stick around we'll be right back with that

information

my driver's welcome back Rick with smart drive test talking to you today about

what you do if you stall the vehicle either by dumping the clutch or having

it in the wrong here when you're driving it's not a huge deal at most people to

push the punch back in turn it start it again or push the button and it will

start on a huge deal now I'm going to take a moment because you're going to

you know it's going to take five to ten seconds and when you're sitting in an

intersection and people are behind you and I stalled it there you go

just start it back up check to make sure we're in first gear always check to make

sure you're in the right gear because a lot of times you might have stalled it

because you were in the wrong gear because you didn't switch back to first

gear you left it in third or whatnot so you just need to

check that you're in the correct year when you stall it because that number

that's the leading cause of those in dumping the budget yeah the other reason

that you may - all the vehicle is because you're going to do vehicle

you're not used to it or you're moved from a diesel engine to

petrol engine and petrol engines are far less forgiving because you got to bring

it up to the friction point give it a bit of throttle and if you don't give it

a bit of throttle you're going to stall it on a small pet - especially the

smaller petrol lane maybe a bit more forgiving if you've got to be create or

whatnot but the most part if you move from a diesel engine that

has a lots and lots of torque to small petrol engines that you can have some

challenges but for the most part it's not a huge deal if you're doing Hill

starts you might be more prone to stall it on hill start I have had students

stall large 500 horsepower diesel engines on a hill which you know takes a

bit of skill to be able to do that but so we're just waiting right here and

then we'll go around here nobody behind us now there's a beautiful coming up

kind of waiting for the gap here

if that move up here a little bit put the front tires on the front cross lock

line right there now we're ready to go into the gap or we can meet the gap

looks like there's a gap coming here so we could meet the gap here and then we

can turn left yep meaning the gap here we go in the second

gear turning the corner

turning a corner and turning the corner

and usually the only time that you're going to stall the vehicle is if you're

starting from a dead stop it's unlikely if the vehicles rolling that you're

going to install it you might have it in there in too high of a gear like if you

put it in fifth gear for example it'll just like you're just like it's going to

rattle and pull and you're like oh wait a minute something's wrong and then you

pick the right gear and it'll take off so I put it in fifth gear and you can

hear it rattling and chunking along there you're like if it's not sort of

running smoothly you know there's something wrong you've got too high of a

gear whatnot so that's another thing if you do stall it make sure that you check

to make sure that you're in the right gear okay so we'll just left it in

second here see and I stalled it so that's pretty common you start back up

make sure you're in first gear and then take off again so so the first thing the

next thing you do when you stall it is make sure that you're in the correct

gear because a lot of times you won't so we're here so we're uphill give it

throttle check the tracks and we continue and again can't shift on

railway crossings if you're driving a manual transmission regardless of flats

lightness so always go all the way over the track with the entire vehicle before

your shift for years on a hill skirt thank so that gives you

some idea some of the reasons why you might stall the vehicle and if you do

stall the vehicle it's not a huge deal just push the clutch in check to make

sure you're in first gear and restart the vehicle quick review of stalling the

vehicle when you're learning to drive a manual transmission or if you're moving

into a different vehicle or you're just not paying attention it will happen as I

said in the introduction it's not a matter of if it's going to happen it's a

matter of when it's going to happen because even veteran drivers like myself

will install a manual transmission at intersections of those types of things

the important part is to take a breath try not to panic just turn the key to

the off position push the clutch in restart the motor and get it going as

quickly as possible and if you are at an intersection make sure you scan the

intersection to look for your gap and get a good space to pull out into if you

did miss your gap because sometimes that three or four seconds it takes you to

get the vehicle going again it's going to cause you to lose your gap and if

other vehicles behind you honk and that type of thing just take a breath try to

relax and don't get too panicked about it because you just want to try and get

the vehicle going again as expediently as possible question for my smart

drivers what is your experience stalling a manual transmission leave a comment

down in the comment section there all of that helps of the new drivers learning

how to drive a manual transmission if you like what you see here share

subscribe leave comment down in the comment section as well hit that thumbs

How To Get Into Harvard | Spoken Word Poetry - Duration: 7:19.

Hi everyone, my name is Sahil Handa, and I'm a student from London who got into Harvard

and Stanford. I'm making this video because lots of people have been asking me for some

tips on how to get in. How to game the admissions process and give themselves the best chance

to win. So I figured I'd do it in a slightly unusual way, instead of using that cookie-cuttered

approach in most videos and guidebooks today. So sit back, relax, go to the fridge, grab

some cheese, and listen to my weird application hypotheses. There'll be six sections; academics, extracurriculars,

essays and athletics. Followed by a few closing words and a little

musing on being authentic. So where to start? SATs, yes, academics and exams. The part

of the process that everyone seems to equate with tuition programs and heart spasms. So

my ACT score was 32, and my SAT subject scores, not that great, but I realised that I had

to just prove to them that I was competent; whether that was through my test scores or

my grades. Picture yourself as an admissions officer, running through long student profiles

hour after hour, and the little test score is just so small that it's difficult for

even the most trained eye to scour. Now that doesn't mean academics don't matter at

all, and in fact I'd aim for a test score around the fifty percent median of admitted

students across the board. But it is to say that there's loads of kids with perfect standardised

scores who go and sit the same exams weekend after weekend after weekend only to find out

that they're not going to be admitted to Harvard in the fall. In terms of school exams, yes,

a consistent positive track record is optimal, but if you've not always been the perfect

student then talk to them about how you've overcome those obstacles. That you've recognized

the importance of education and found what you're interested in. That you've gone out of your

way and beyond the school syllabus to find out more about this crazy world we're living

in. You've read the extra books, challenged your beliefs and clued yourself up. Not just

because you want to get into college, but because you want to take responsibility for

your mind and man up

Okay, extracurriculars up next, where more of your personality begins to come into play.

But where I also get loads of people asking me what activities or roles will have the

most sway. The trick is not to think of this section as a product to design or a checklist, but

to find where your talents and interests align, and then follow those things like they're

opportunities you'd be crazy to miss. Persisting with the learning and resisting any difficulties;

if you're a dancer, trying teaching, and if you're a coder, building a website, and,

if you're a scientist, maybe even trying to find a new perspective on a disease. It's

the trying that counts, they want to see your determination and tenacity; that you're someone who's

willing to go above and beyond to make the most out of your potential and capacity.

So stretch yourself, get out of your comfort zone, and just pursue what you care about.

Allow failure to push you further and acquire a work ethic that will allow you to power

through insecurities and self-doubts. Show commitment; don't just sign up to as many

clubs as possible, but find a position that suits your skills and then pursue it with

so much vigour that saying no to you is impossible. Make the most of your lucky position on this

earth and really think about how you can contribute; Harvard and Stanford love to see confident

people who have that kindness to boot

Essays now, right, I'm trying to get through these as fast as possible, so bear with me

and I'll try and make this section a little more methodical. Focus on putting across a

story, being a real human being; not necessarily the next ruler of the earth but someone with

real emotion and feeling. Don't let your one chance to communicate with the admissions

officers be the botched up sum of that time you won that internship, got that gold star

and were told you were special by your mum. Have some fun! You know, tell them

about a meaningful experience, perhaps an obstacle you've had to overcome or a funny obsession

that tells them something interesting about your inner appearance. Don't allow an embellished

CV to make an interference, but use this as a way to throw the barriers of "University

Application" into clearance. Tell them who you are, what you love and who you want to

be. Tell them a tale about what led you to your goal or your favourite hobby. It really

is that horrible, annoying, face-palming cliche; that if I picked up your unnamed essay on

the floor I should just know immediately from the tone that it came from your way. Okay,

so, I hope you've seen that this whole thing takes some self-inspection; really looking

at yourself in the mirror and realising that there's value in the reflection. If rejection

comes on decisions day and you didn't happen to fit what Harvard, Stanford or anyone else

desire, don't let the feelings of rejection and the lacking self-affection allow you to

forget that you're responsible for living a life you admire. That may sound cheesy,

contrived or slightly pretentious but I promise you it's true. Treating one admissions

officer's opinion of you as gospel is nothing but completely and utterly senseless. If

you do get in, awesome, use the resources wisely from the second you start as a freshman

and if you're acquiring debt, learn what that means and make sure you really utilise

this investment. Harvard and Stanford are fantastic and if you take these tips you've

got a much better chance of attending. Listening to incredible speakers, learning fascinating

theories and making lifelong friends in the library while essay deadlines are pending.

But if you don't get in, their loss, use the experience to learn about who you are.

College isn't an end destination so pick yourself up and take pride in your scar. Wave

goodbye, choose another path, and wish them nothing but the very best. Understand that

you're not dependent on any one thing for your success. Because the more we allow our

worth to be defined by colleges, lovers, universities and other questionable personalities, the

more we begin to forget that the way that someone else sees our identity does not determine

the limits of our capacities. It's up to us to challenge ourselves, sort ourselves

out and learn what our lives are about. To be critical of ourselves whilst realising

we can all find a calling worth telling our grandchildren about.

So challenge your own opinions, because that's intellectual curiosity, and follow what you

love at the highest velocity. Be human, don't try to be perfect, that would be a monstrosity,

and always remember to attack your free time with ferocity. But most of all, be you, with

all your quirks, intricacies and weirdness. Just be you. Do the things you love, find

what you're passionate about; follow through, work hard, and be the person you want to be.

Because that way, not only will you have a better chance of getting in, but if you focus

on being the best version of yourself then, whether you get in or not, you'll never

have to stop and think and question whether things just might've been different if you

hadn't held up that filter over yourself.

Green Tree Frog Care, Diet, and Tank Set Up, How To Care For The American Green Tree Frog - Duration: 7:21.

hey y'all maybe from my hectic life here today we're going to get to know a

little bit about the American green tree frog so the American green tree frog

comes from southern United States so they are used to a warmer humid climate

the green tree frog does not require very large tank when we need a

10 gallon tank will suffice now the green tree frog are arboreal

creatures so they do need height rather than width so I have the exoterra 12 by 12

by 18 for my green tree frogs but zoo med also makes one or you can even take

a ten gallon long and turn it on its side I like being able to have the option of

the front opening door so it's all just kind of a matter of personal preference

there so for substrate I'm using eco earth you want to have something that will

hold high you really want to use a substrate that will hold high humidity

these guys usually like it between 50 to 80 percent humidity remember anything

over 80 percent and you're probably going to start seeing mold grow very

quickly in your tank so again they are arboreal

I mean it's in the name tree frog so they do like to climb normally so I have

some corks flats and some vines hanging in my tank so that we have something to

climb around on and foliage to hide behind green tree frogs are nocturnal so

they don't necessarily need any external lighting some people will use UVB light

but you want to use a really really low wattage if you're going use uvb lights and

you only want to leave it on a few hours a day now the ideal temperature range

for the green tree frog is going to be between 68 and 77 degrees but you

can go as high as eighty degrees but you don't want your tank to get any higher

than eighty degrees you will want to get a hygrometer and a thermometer for your

tank so that way you know what your temperature or your tank is at at all

times and where your humidity at so you know when you need to mist the tank

again now back on substrate I do use the Eco Earth it does hold a lot of moisture

you can use other things but do also keep in mind that anything you use you

want to make sure it's not something that's a problem they might accidentally ingest

while they're eating such as gravel such as gravel or moss some people will use

things like astroturf I don't really recommend it because it can be a little

bit rough for the Frog and could potentially damage their skin you can

use like carpet and can use reptile carpet but it's not gonna hold as much

moisture so it just kind of depends on how often you want to be misting down

your tank so more things that you have in your tank that will hold moisture in

and keep the humidity levels up a little less often that you're going to have to

mist your tank in your 10 gallon tank you can keep 2 green tree frogs in there

together but I wondered necessarily go higher than two frogs if you're going to

get more than two frogs and I would probably get a larger tank right now

these guys are not very good swimmer so you're going to want a shallow water

bowl in the tank they do like this so like many frogs do but they are not the

best swimmers so be sure that it is a shallow bowl and nothing

super deep that they can't get out of now if you do live in a cooler climate

and you are going to need an ear usually under the tank mats are going to be

most ideal too much like these guys are nocturnal frogs and you could damage the

skin or accidentally burn the Frog if you already use a heat source under the

tank mass or grate or a ceramic heat lamp or a very very low low wattage bulb

and probably do the trick my house is summer now so it's 100

degrees outside so I don't really need any external heating right now for any

of my animals so for feeding your green tree frogs the

primary thing that most people seed is going to be crickets of course you don't

want anything that is too big for your frost you don't want to feed your frog

anything that won't fit between their eyes this will help prevent any problems

or worries without choking and will help keep your frogs safe

now for a young green tree frogs you're going to want to feed your frog every

single day and then for the older larger frogs you can usually get away with

it feeding every other day just make sure you watch your frogs because they

can over indulge and can gain weight if you notice that your frog is starting to

get a little fat then you might want to cut back on a crickets a little bit now

these guys can eat a wide variety of insects

crickets are usually their staple diet along with dubia roaches wax worms and

things like that can be a little on the fatty side so you really want to watch

out and limit those in your frog diet now as with any reptile or amphibian you

want to provide a calcium vitamin d3 supplement and you want to gut load your

crickets or dubia roaches for information on how

to gut load crickets I will put a link in the description below for my

video on gut loading crickets and for the vitamin d3 supplement you'll want to

supplement at least every other feeding through your frogs if you want

information about why we want to supplement with vitamin d3 and calcium i

will also put a link below in the description about metabolic bone disease

in reptiles amphibians so when you're misting down your tank or when you're

adding water to the lower bowl you'll want to make sure that you are using the

dechlorinated water all you have to do is use a simple tap water conditioner and

that will help remove any chlorine it for means that might harm your frog the

frogs do absorb anything through their skin that touches them so you want to

make sure that they're not getting any harmful chemicals

okay so that's all for today's video and some of this information useful please

give it any thumbs up and subscribe to my channel where I post videos almost

every day thanks for watching guys bye

How to Tie a Dragonfly Armbinder - Duration: 4:31.

This is Monk with TwistedMonk.com and it is my absolutely supreme pleasure

to present this instructional video to you

with the true star of our original series of videos,

my long-suffering wife, Tam.

Now, before we begin, one of the constant questions people have is

why did she never talk in all of those original videos?

The truth is we could only afford one microphone back in those days.

—Prove that you're not a mute! —Hello, everyone! Hi!

For this video we're going to do one of the most requested ties.

It's called the Dragonfly Armbinder,

often referred to as a "ladder tie" as well.

For this I'm going to be using a 30' piece of 6mm hemp.

What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take my partner,

I'm gonna turn them around, I'm gonna take their arms

and have them pointed wrist to wrist.

Is that comfortable? Not everybody has all this much range of motion.

We're going to start with this, with a comfortable position.

One of the fun parts about the Dragonfly is that it's infinitely adjustable.

I'm going to take the bight of my rope.

I'm just going to make a small overhand knot.

Just a big enough loop on the end to reach through

and make a loop like that.

I'm going to take my loops and I'm going to pass them

over the limbs and through,

so that they come over their shoulders

and this sits right in the center of the back.

I'm checking in, that good on there, that good on your shoulder? Great.

From here it's a series of overhand knots,

pull the loop through till you make another little set of wings.

Pass over the limb.

Notice also, it works really well for legs.

I make it larger, so it's comfortable for my partner.

And I pull this tight.

Adjusting to where they're comfortable.

You can make as many, or as few of these loops

as you wish, depending on how intricate

or how long a piece of rope you're working with.

And I pull my ends to make it tight.

As with all bondage, there's going to be little adjustments,

and little check-ins, to make sure…

—How's that, is that too tight?

I've got a little bit left over so I'm gonna do one last…

Oh, it's gonna be kinda tight.

Can I do that? There you go, thank you.

Little squeeze, little squeeze. Oh.

Adjust the Dragonfly, keep that one last…

a little tightening, and there you have it.

As always, when playing with rope,

remember to keep it safe, sane, consensual,

and above all else, what, my dear?

—And have fun! —Thank you.
