Pursuant to the decision of the US administration and Pentagon,
heavy arms will be sent to the People's Protection Units (YPG).
The Spokesperson for the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) said they have contacts with the US administration
regarding receiving the arms,
and they highly appreciate the US decision of arming their forces
hoping this cooperation does not stop.
We consider this decision a historical step.
We highly appreciate it.
We do believe it will have a greater effect in the near future.
This decision came after three-years of cooperation and fighting against the Islamic State (IS).
It came after our forces proved to be the best on the ground in the fight against IS.
Our forces proved to be one of the best to fight against terrorism.
The Defence Authority of Jazira Canton in Rojava said this move was appreciated, though it came late.
They added this move came after about four-years of fighting against IS
and the cooperation between the YPG and the US-led coalition.
Head of the Defence Authority stated they hope this cooperation does not stop
because IS is still controlling large areas and have heavy weapons and thousands of fighters.
The US decision to arm the YPG and YPJ is a significant step for the people
of northern Syria in general, and the Kurds in particular.
Most importantly, for fighting against IS.
This is a historical decision,
although it came late.
The US decision of arming the Kurdish fighters in Syria drew immediate protests from senior Turkish officials.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the YPG as "parasites" after the US decision.
Especially since the decision came before Erdogan's visit to the US.
Redur Xelil, the YPG's former spokesperson, said earlier this step will help speed up the eradication of IS.

Research in the US Public Health Service Hospitals (U.S. Public Health Service, 1961) - Duration: 21:52.
[Dr. Terry:] There are more than 140,000 patient admissions to the hospitals
of the Public Health Service every year.
Our patients include American seamen like ship's carpenter Danny Callahan,
who received care at the Boston Hospital,
officers and enlisted men of the US Coast Guard, Coast and Geodetic Survey, other uniformed services
and their dependents, American Indians, Alaskan natives, federal prisoners,
and other groups designated by the Congress.
We also provide medical education for interns, residents, medical students,
and many others in our hospitals.
The first responsibility of our hospitals is the health of our patients.
The second responsibility is medical education.
Medical research is one of the most important factors in providing the best patient care,
and the best medical education.
Today, several of our hospitals are conducting research in association with medical schools
and other institutions.
For example, the Public Health Service hospital in New Orleans has developed a comprehensive
research and training program in cooperation with the medical school at Tulane University.
One of the people who recently played a major role in this program is Dr. John L. Wilson,
former medical officer-in-charge at New Orleans and who is now retired from the service.
Through the enterprise of Dr. Wilson, this building on the hospital grounds
was converted into a research facility, the Seamen's Memorial Laboratory.
The director of research at New Orleans is Dr. John J. Walsh,
who received his research training at Tulane.
I've asked Dr. Walsh and his colleagues to give us a brief report on their program.
[Dr. Walsh:] We could define the research activities in the Public Health Service hospitals
as directed towards one objective, that of better patient care,
with the inevitable accompaniment of better professional training and better professional status.
It has been our philosophy to have a diversified program not dependent upon one man,
nor upon one discipline.
Currently, we have approximately 4000 square feet of laboratory space and 31 fulltime people
working in our research laboratory.
It has been our feeling that these fulltime academicians and fulltime investigators
should be available to the hospital for teaching and consultative purposes,
and also to help to create the atmosphere of intellectual stimulation and curiosity
so necessary if we would make a hospital
a teaching institution and not a trade school in which merely techniques are learned.
Briefly, our overall program is as follows.
There is a tropical medical section, which is an integral component
of the Department of Tropical Medicine and Public Health at Tulane.
Work in this area is primarily concerned with natural and acquired resistance
to parasitic infections.
In the second of our three major sections, research endeavors
are oriented towards the surgical field.
This project is concerned currently with the application of regional perfusion
to the treatment of malignancies.
The third major area of investigation which concerns our laboratory is that concerned
with cardiovascular diseases and specifically with studies of the dilated heart.
[Dr. Terry:] The research on the dilated heart at New Orleans is under the personal direction
of Dr. Walsh and Dr. George E. Burch, professor and chairmen of the Department of Medicine
at Tulane.
Dr. Burch is known around the world for his research in heart disease.
[Dr. George E. Burch:] As we know, one of the great problems in cardiology is the problem
of a large heart,
Most patients who die of heart disease either die because of congestive heart failure,
which is as a rule associated with a large dilated heart, or from coronary disease
with myocardial ischemia.
Our main interest is to try to first define as well as we can what a large heart is.
We're attempting to approach this both from the anatomical point of view,
not necessarily just gross anatomy, but from the point of view of detailed microscopic studies.
as well as from the point of view of electron microscopy.
In addition, a chemical definition will be attempted of trying to define the inorganic chemical state
of the dilated heart as well as certain aspects of organic chemical changes.
In addition to that, an effort is being made to treat the dilated heart,
particularly in patients who have so-called intractable failure,
where efforts have been made to use usual conventional
therapeutic procedures and still the patient seems to go downhill.
One of the ideas that has been proving to be of considerable success
is the idea of long bed rest.
Patients have been placed in bed for periods varying from six months to a year or even more,
and so far this has been proving to be of considerable value to these patients
who would have been dead if it were not for this period of rest.
Unfortunately, this does take a great deal of time in order to see through enough patients
to have an idea as to what the statistical significance of all this is, but even with
a few number of patients,
we know so far that this has a great deal to offer at the moment.
[Dr. Terry:] Research at the New Orleans hospital includes several disciplines.
One of these is biochemistry.
Here is Dr. Joseph Arcos, associate professor of biochemistry at Tulane,
to explain the work being done in this field.
[Dr. Joseph Arcos:] The program of the biochemistry section centers on the study
of alterations in endoplasmic cellular membranes.
The same techniques are applied to investigate these alterations during the process
of heart dilatation and during chemical carcinogenesis in the liver.
At the present time, we are studying the mitochondrial membrane by following
changes in the swelling ability and shape of this cell particle.
The first slide shows a phase of the procedure for isolation of mitochondria.
All these operations involving living tissues are carried out at near zero degrees centigrade
in the cold room.
Incidentally, the young man pictured here is a second year medical student at Tulane University
School of Medicine who is receiving research orientation while conducting
a [?] research project at the U.S. Public Health Hospital Research Laboratory.
The second slide shows members of our group injecting into the guinea pig deoxycorticosterone
which produces heart dilatation following [?] administration.
The third slide shows the measuring by photometry of the pattern of mitochondria swelling.
The investigator pictured here is a science student from Formosa
taking part in the research training program of Tulane University Medical School.
The fourth slide illustrates an extension of this approach; that is, to study changes
in the shape of the mitochondria such as elongation, shortening, or curling.
Such alterations are determined by following the particulate dissymmetry
by light scattering at various wavelengths.
Finally, the last slide shows a phase of another research orientation of our program.
Here, a change is produced by various chemical agents in the macromolecular fine structure
of proteins are studied by following in a polarimeter, the optical rotation of the solutions.
In this way, we hope to obtain information on the mechanism of drug action
at the basic macromolecular level.
[Dr. Terry:] Although prolonged bed rest is a basic therapy in the treatment of the patients
participating in the dilated heart studies at New Orleans, drug therapy is also important.
The pharmacology studies are under the direction of Dr. Thomas D. Darby,
Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Tulane.
[Dr. Thomas D. Darby:] Investigations with intact hearts and with hearts in situ are
are now in progress in our laboratories.
In this slide, an isolated heart is demonstrated.
An Anderson isolated heart perfusion apparatus is used in combination with a bubble-type oxygenator
and Sigma motor pump system.
In these studies, the coronary arteries are perfused with oxygenated blood
obtained from donor animals.
The purpose of these experiments is to determine the direct effects of a drug or a combination
of drugs on the force of contraction of heart muscle.
In the next slide, an experiment is being carried out with a heart in situ.
In this study, direct measurements of the drugs on the force of contraction of the heart
are being compared with hemodynamic parameters.
In this study, a total body perfusion is carried out.
Blood is removed from the right atrium of the dog and returned to the left atrium of the dog.
In this way the right ventricle and lungs are bypassed.
The blood is oxygenated in a bubble-type oxygenator and pumped back to a reservoir
which returns the blood to the left atrium.
Measurements of isometric contractility, isotonic contractility, and all-force velocity curves
can be obtained from the non-working ventricle.
These measurements are compared with isometric tension in the working ventricle.
In addition to the biochemical, physiological, and pharmacological studies,
clinical studies of drug effects are also in progress.
One of the medical residents is largely engaged in the clinical studies
and takes part in the laboratory experiments.
The residents are an important part of our applied research program.
They are daily in contact with therapeutic problems and are willing to work to obtain the answers.
The training in our laboratories is also multidiscipline.
In addition to the Public Health Service personnel, there are two graduate students in pharmacology
from Tulane University, and two medical students from LSU receiving training here.
[Dr. Terry:] A total of 30 patients have taken part in the dilated heart studies at New Orleans
and 20 of these have now been discharged.
Here is the x-ray taken of the heart of Mrs. Erma Francis when she was admitted to the hospital
as a special study patient for this research program.
Here is her heart as it is today, and here are the two x-rays side by side.
Dr. Walsh visited Mrs. Francis and interviewed her where she is now employed.
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] Erma I think our listeners might like to know where you're working.
Would you mind telling us please?
[Erma Francis:] I work at Chalmette Laundry, one of the largest laundries in the city of New Orleans.
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] Erma, what kind of symptoms were you having before you went into the
New Orleans Public Health Service Hospital?
[Erma Francis:] I was having severe pain in the chest, between the bust you know,
and the stomach down here, and I was very swollen and full of fluids and my feet and legs
and everything were swollen and I had vomiting spells.
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] And you had had heart trouble for some time before that,
hadn't you, Erma?
[Erma Francis:] Yes I had.
I found that I had an enlarged heart since 1937, and from 1958 I had trouble, trouble on and off,
in and out of the hospital until November, around November 1958, I was sent to Charity,
and then from Charity I went to Public Health Hospital, and for about six months to nine months
I didn't do anything but rest.
Then after that I began to go down, go to the bathroom and walk around,
until I was discharged in August 1959.
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] Now since you've gotten out of the hospital Erma,
have you had any trouble with your heart?
[Erma Francis:] I haven't had any trouble, I've been feeling fine and I work every day,
you see the kind of work that I am doing, okay?
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] And how hot is it in here right now?
[Erma Francis:] It's really hot right now, but it doesn't bother me.
[Dr. John J. Walsh:] I understand it's 109 right now.
[Erma Francis:] Yeah.
[Dr. Terry:] Here's another photo of Ms. Francis taken recently at the New Orleans hospital.
She still takes a great deal of interest in the heart project and returns nearly every week
to help with the care of patients.
One of the resident physicians now working on the cancer project is Dr. James N. Winblad,
a resident in surgery.
Dr. Winblad began his research in cancer perfusion.
[Dr. James N. Winblad:] If you had asked me if I would want to go down to Tulane
and spend a year in relative isolation working on a basic research program that perhaps had no direct
clinical bearing or no direct clinical relationship, I would have been relatively uninterested.
But what happened was that we were able to work on a relatively basic problem, that is
the development of techniques for isolation perfusion of extremities and other regions of the body
and then apply this to the treatment of human cancer in a relatively short time,
that is, in a span of relatively few months.
We developed the technique in dogs for extracorporeal circulation and regional perfusion,
and then applied it in the treatment of human patients with cancer.
[Dr. Terry:] The present medical officer-in-charge at New Orleans is Dr. John A. Trautman,
who has served at several Public Health Service hospitals
and was formerly director of the Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
[Dr. John A. Trautman:] I considered that research over the years in our hospitals as one of the
best recruiting devices that we could possibly have, and I believe that if the service
is to go forward
and to attract proper personnel, career people to carry on the work of the service, that the service
will have to develop its research facilities in our hospitals to the utmost.
We are leaders in the field of medicine not only in the United States, but in the world.
It behooves is us in the service to have the best possible research facilities,
the best hospitals, to accomplish the aims which every good clinical facility should have.
[Dr. Terry:] When we began organizing this present research program at our New Orleans hospital,
we were fortunate to have the fullest possible cooperation and encouragement
from one of the nation's leaders in medical education, Dr. Maxwell Lapham,
dean of Tulane Medical School.
[Dr. Maxwell Lapham:] The close affiliation of the U.S. Public Service Hospital
with the school of medicine at Tulane University has many important facets.
In the first place it unifies two institutions which are dedicated to medical training and medical care.
It allows for the interchange of staff and facilities,
specifically the facilities of the Public Health Service hospital
are of tremendous help to the school of medicine here, because our students and faculty
can work with the different kinds of patients from far-flung areas and also learn more about
the objectives and responsibilities of the Public Health Service hospitals.
Moreover, the hospital staff members who have medical school appointments have assisted greatly
in our teaching programs.
On the side of the hospital staff, there is opportunity to work with men who are dedicated
not only to medical training and medical service but to pursuing basic and clinical research.
Many of the hospital staff members find a deep satisfaction in pursuing a more or less
academic career within the framework of their Public Health Service responsibilities.
This should be of assistance in recruiting people into careers in the health service
throughout the country.
They will have the satisfaction of knowing that in addition to rendering superior medical care,
they are contributing to medical knowledge through research within both institutions.
[Dr. Terry:] The Public Health Service is indebted to Dean Lapham, to Dr. George Burch, and to other
members of the Tulane Medical School for their generous cooperation, their enthusiasm and
encouragement in helping us to carry forward the research program at New Orleans.
In addition to New Orleans, we're conducting research in other Public Health Service hospitals,
in the Indian Health Program, and in the hospitals in the federal prisons.
One of the most important types of research we're now conducting is the inter-hospital project
where several Public Health Service hospitals join together on a common problem
with a single protocol.
Here is the Public Health Service hospital at Staten Island,
which serves as administrative center for the first inter-hospital project.
Seven hospitals are now conducting investigations in the clinical pharmacology of various drugs
designed for the treatment of essential hypertension.
These inter-hospital investigations will help to speed up the testing of new drugs.
Our Baltimore hospital pioneered heart research in the service in cooperation
with the National Heart Institute and also has an important program in cancer chemotherapy
in cooperation with the National Cancer Institute.
Our Seattle hospital and the medical school of the University of Washington
are setting up a cooperative research program.
Our San Francisco hospital is working out details for research and association
with a major medical center and with the medical school.
Research in the Indian hospitals has developed around the clinical health problems of the Indians.
For example, at the present time pilot studies are being planned or conducted on diabetes, anemia,
cervical cancer, nutrition, trachoma, otitis media, and diseases of the gallbladder.
Since 1930, the Public Health Service has had responsibility for directing the medical program
of the Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Justice, which maintains 22 hospitals.
For several years, we have conducted research projects in many fields of investigation
with the aid of volunteer prisoner patients.
It is the aim of the Public Health Service to develop these research activities in our hospitals
in order to provide our patients with the best possible medical care and to enhance
the quality of the medical education.
Research also provides the opportunity for physicians and others in the service to extend
the range of their skills and to add greater depth to their professional judgment.
It is essential that we make these opportunities available because our ultimate success
in fulfilling our responsibilities for the health of the nation depends directly upon the skill,
the wisdom, and the dedication of the men and women in the Public Health Service.

U.S. successfully intercepts simulated ICBM for the first time in missile shield test - Duration: 1:41.
North Korea might want to take note of our next story.
The U.S. military says it has successfully shot down a mock ICBM for the first time,
in the latest test of its missile defense shield... taking a direct aim at the reclusive
regime.
Yu Joonhee has more.
An anti-missile interceptor raced to the sky towards its target, after being fired from
an underground silo in Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Tuesday afternoon local
time.
Over the Pacific Ocean, the missile intercepted and destroyed a target vehicle designed to
mimic the characteristics of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
This marks the first time the "Ground-based Midcourse Defense" System, as it is called,
has shot down a simulated ICBM.
The system, which has cost more than 40 billion dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds so far, had
not undergone a live-fire test in nearly three years prior to Tuesday.
The missile defense shield also has a spotty record, achieving only ten successful intercepts
in 18 tries, after accounting for the latest test.
However, the program has taken on renewed significance in recent months, in the midst
of North Korea's rapidly evolving nuclear and ballistic missile threats.
Pyongyang has already conducted nine missile tests so far in 2017, including three since
President Moon Jae-in came into office in mid-May.
The North has made no secret of its intent, to develop a nuclear-tipped ICBM capable of
reaching the U.S. mainland.
The Pentagon however, in the aftermath of Tuesday's successful intercept, says the U.S.
now has a credible and capable means of defending itself from North Korea's missile threat.
The U.S. military current has 36 ground-based interceptors based in California and Alaska,
but plans to deploy an additional eight for a total of 44, by the end of this year.

Morning Views: U.S. war against Philippines—Americans totally oblivious - Duration: 39:47.
Morning everybody, it is May the 31st 2017
I'm Cindy Kay Currier and it's an early morning here in New York City; a
little bit foggy a little bit humid. I want to say if you're in a really
sensitive mood you may not want to watch this video right now. If you're one of
those people who's sensitive to the energies and don't yet know how to
direct your own thoughts and focus on what you want to focus on rather than
whatever thoughts are attacking you, don't watch this right now because
because I'm going to be direct. Part of where this was coming from is I've had
to make a choice. I've chosen to stop listening to some of my favorite news
people, people who I deemed, prior to now, fact checkers, people who were least
making an effort to to be balanced and factual and not just being dragged
around by the nose. I've realized that most media people, you know, I can't listen to
them anymore. I just can't listen to ya'll anymore.
I've heard two or three of you call the President of the Philippines an evil
dictator. I've heard several of you characterize him, and I'm talking about
alt-right people. You know we know people on the left are going to say that. You've
been saying that; but alt-right people are now calling President Duterte a
dictator and I want to tell you what I think of that but before I do I want to
call your attention to one of the Statements of Clarification in the
section on Law and Policy Enforcement, its statement number 17 one who is
deemed by their community to be a persistent threat to humanity expresses
no regret shows no desire for correction and demonstrates no potential
rehabilitation is put to death. And then there's another statement you know that
says the only time killing another human is appropriate is to spare human life.
Now there was a time in American history where we accepted that we understood
that that if your life is in danger whoever's threatening your life you take
their life period. No question about that. That's called
survival and that's, that's been an American value for a very long time but
something has happened. Something has happened and we have turned in...some of...I'm
not going to say "we" because it's not me... y'all have turned into a bunch of wimpy
ass babies who will not stand up for the children who will not stand up for the
country and will not stand up for yourselves and you view someone like
President Duterte as an evil dictator. You are about as mind wiped and then
had someone else's values reinstalled in your in your thought process and are no
longer what I consider an American. If you have that if you have that attitude
that, 'oh, we just can't take another life' when you're dealing with baby killers,
and you are, you're not an American. You're an enemy, you're an enemy of this
country and I want to challenge you to change that now I'm not, like, blindly
following President Duterte I don't agree with everything he says. But I do...
...I've heard from people in the Philippines about what's going on there
I have family from there.
So I'm not not completely blind to what's going on there and yes you know
historically people have taken their government protectors and then, you
know, put them on a pedestal and trusted them too much I know that's happened in
history. We don't want that; but if you look at the orders that I've issued in
the last couple days, those orders are to address that, so that people, so that good
Presidents like Duterte don't get caught in a situation where the people are
handing their power over to a president. That's a dangerous situation. The people
need to retain their power. That's why we have the law of the land now and I want
to invite all the people of the Philippines to take a look at that; I
want to invite President Duterte to take a look at that because if y'all...if all
of us...begin acting in concert and begin protecting ourselves in our communities
and develop a way to have protection services in our local neighborhoods so
that we can lawfully do away with these bastards who are trafficking babies out
of Philippines and that's what we're talking about. See, he's been polite; he's
been polite in public company. I want to play an interview for you where he talks
about the problem, the problem that so many of us have been just brainwashed by
this human rights thing to think that if someone's coming in and killing your
babies that you can't kill them when you try to arrest them and they turn on you
and try to kill you, which is what's happening in the Philippines. You know I
read an article the other day that said that President Duterte was effecting
extrajudicial killings, extrajudicial executions. That's a fancy way to make it
sound like defending yourself as a bad thing. No, if some
one attacking me lethally am I going to implement that you did am i going to
call on the judiciary? You've got to be insane! Don't be so stupid,
America! Don't be so stupid! You media people, who used to think highly of who are
now just getting dragged around by a nose ring
don't be so utterly insanely stupid. I want to play well first of all I want to
present another report on what's an update on the situation in the
Philippines and then I want to play an interview that Duterte gave just a
few days ago and we'll end with that. So grab a cup of coffee sit back...if you're
lucky enough to be in your home by the way and not held hostage by a bunch of
ISIS people that American taxpayers are funding. We are at war! The United States
is at war; have waged war on innocent people and if that's you—you're an
accomplice. If you paid taxes your money is supporting the people who are right
now holding a whole bunch of people hostage—innocent people, Christians.
I guess Christians were the target here this time, Catholic Christians. They
attacked a church, a priest, holding a whole bunch of innocent people hostage
right this minute while your tax dollars... you know it's been all over the news...you
know very full and well but your government, your corporate government...
they're not my government...your corporate government is paying, funding
the activities that are going on in the Philippines right this minute and it's a
little bit indirectly so it requires a little bit of research in order to know
that; but guess what...the controllers know that you're in America
and you're not going to do that research. You're going to sit around and read a
transcript from President Trump that reads as though he's supporting Duterte and
despite the fact that President Trump has flip-flopped on everything he's ever
said you believe him. I got news for ya: you look stupid. You look stupid because
you're acting stupid. You're in a war America, you're in several wars across
the world. You are warring on innocent people. You are helping helping the
trafficking; you are facilitating the trafficking of babies by setting back
watching the news... click, click, click 'oh, I hope Hanady hangs in there.' Who gives
a flip about Seth Rich when you're funding.... I'm sorry for Seth Rich, I'm sorry he died
and i'm sorry for his family—my condolences to all who who knew and
loved Seth Rich—but he's got nothing to do with your life right this second. You
have the power to flip this script. Join with your community and do it watch all
the videos in my playlist "Our New America" if you want to know what the new
law is if you want to hear it read out loud for you otherwise go to AmericanLawoftheLand.com, find out what the law is...that's the law of the land. You
don't have to go by the law to sea, you're not stuck in a slavery system
anymore but you're acting like you are so i want to invite you get a clue
stop this warring. Do the orders. There's another section I'm gonna do another
playlist probably today it's going to be entitled president's orders or
presidential public orders or something like that where you can you know if you
if you can't grasp the orders that I've given so
far at the "Universal Marshall Law" playlist then maybe you'll grasp these.
These are going to be written..they're being delivered from a little more
down-to-earth perspective. Grasp it, apply it, flip the script
folks, do the right thing. Do the right thing. Okay, I want to present a report to
you now and then you'll get to hear, uh, President Duterte and we'll end
with that. see you next time. independent dot ie
world looms Wednesday May 31st 2017 Philippines vows to save hostages as
fighting rages on in siege city
authorities and the Philippines have reached out to parties who may be able
to talk with Muslim militants in a bid to secure the freedom of hostages in a
southern city where a week of fighting has killed 129 people officials said
troops have cleared almost 90% of murali where the gunmen linked to the Islamic
state terror group have been fending off government troops since a botched raid
to capture a veteran rebel leader triggered a militant siege said military
spokesman Brigadier General restitute oppa Delia he said militant leader is
now on a Balaam is believed to still be in the city reader general padilha said
960 civilians have been rescued but an estimated 1000 residents remain trapped
in the city the dead include 89 militants 19 civilians and 21 government
forces he said a video of a Catholic priest taken hostage is being assessed
by experts he added he said the video seems authentic but the Reverend tera
Seto sugan all appeared to be speaking under duress and militants are
apparently using the video for propaganda in the video River
Reverend tsuga knob said he's being held alongside 200 other captives
including children and what appeared to be a battle-scarred part of Malawi we
want to live another day we want to live another month he said standing in front
of debris and partially burned buildings directing his remarks to Philippine
president Rodrigo Duterte he said we want to live a few years and in your
generosity mr. president in your heart we know you can make something happen
are we Bishop Edwin della Pina confirmed it was Reverend Suva nom in the video
Brigadier General Padilla said they've been efforts to reach out to parties who
may conduct a back-channel talks to help free the hostages he assured the
captain's families but the military doing its best to keep them safe he did
now elaborate he said the video indicates the extremists are fighting
for survival they're trapped they're contained he said they're in areas that
they will never come out of alive unless they surrender
mr. Duterte who declared martial law and Mindanao has approved the creation of a
peace corridor to hasten the rescue of civilians and delivery of humanitarian
aid for displaced persons said presidential spokesman Ernesto Vega he
said the quarter will be implemented by the government and the main separatist
group the Moro Islamic Liberation Front which has signed a peace agreement in
exchange for Muslim autonomy in Mindanao the southern third of the Philippines
where a Muslim rebellion has raged for decades Hepple on the militant leader
wanted by the US for his alleged involvement in kidnappings and bomb
attacks which also targeted Americans in the Philippines is still believed to be
in Marawi we believe he is still there and we believe that is why they're
putting up a very stiff resistance in the area but they are still being held
up and being cleared forgive your general padilla told reporters in Manila
the capital AP Press Association
mr. president it's an order to have you here thank you so much thank you for the
time it has been almost two years since your inauguration have you faced
anything that you were not expecting when you took office I've been a
politician for almost 40 years excluding the term now they would say
that on the National Front I was kept informed all the time by the news and of
course by sources in government expected but I never realized the magnitude of
the contamination of the Filipinos insofar as the drugs are concerned they
were less four million people it used to be just a problem that
problem I thought that it was just like like the well I may have one case now
than probably two but it was a very constant happening every time when I
became president and everything was available to me for information
I was almost appalled to know that we have reached the millions of
contaminated so when I was mayor register they said do not destroy a city
and do not destroy the young people of terrible city because they are our
assets we are not rich most of us are poor and we depend on our sons and
daughters to feed us when we get out we do not have we are not the rich people
we do not have any housing here poor few in between and we need our children to
buy a new medicines pay the hospital pay our boolean
and do not corrupt them with with dogs do not destroy their mind and I said
because I will kill you and even very clearly not do not destroy my country do
not destroy your young people because if you do that they will kill you there are
so many criminals smoking wrong it stop it when I said I am NOT a full shade by
the data of human rights I am NOT the police I just give orders but I build
the country but anything that would destroy my country is totally
unacceptable to me my orders are very clear go out and hunt for them the drug
lords arrest them if itself possible but if they are confronted with the violence
that would place your life the policeman or the Security Bureau in danger should
kill them because I NT past that was what really prevented policemen and the
military from doing it why because of they were so afraid of the human rights
thing which is a new phenomenon it's actually the human rights in the guise
of human rights countries like EU and America are interfering into the affairs
of other nations in the guise of human right the Victor irony is that while
trying to protect civilians to protect the youth you sometimes and you admitted
that in one of your interviews as innocent civilians could have become
victims do you think it is a fair price to pay
just like in the marathon's when they drop the bomb death so much so powerful
that it also kills orderable but you are not America you are able to use a coping
of human the ability so it doesn't say that because they're
Americans are exempted and British because I am just a small-time
government official I am NOT exempted with so what's the furnace there now
when we drop bombs they kill so many villages 'im there's not even a whimper
America invaded Europe what was the excuse that there were weapons of mass
destruction and yes when they invaded erupted so many people were killed so
what is justice now I think it's really hard to avoid it we need to say justice
has to be equal it cannot be a justice for one and justice for another set of
Sun dirt water it has to be equal is that the reason why you turn away from
America yes because they refuse to understand my predicament when they knew
that they were also in the same predicament on a larger scale I never in
America remember Panama ok the invaded Panama is sovereign state
ok in Central America so what was the purpose death the one inside seized the
country arrested the president brought him outside the country's placed him in
a detention cell in New York he faces trial Fidel of God and is convicted what
happened to the invasion and what was the reason
drugs you're invaded countries we am just
fighting the criminals in my country I never invaded a country this you have to
look at it this way there is so much integrity in the principles that are
being followed by Nations the powerful ones they can invent this weapon of mass
destruction oh we can invade your country may I never touch anybody I do
not even go to the United States and then the criticize me for the criminals
that I helped in your relations with the previous US administration were far from
perfect will you give trans administration a
chance I think that Trump is is very good this a regular guy is pragmatic
very practical the previous administration was a source of
irritation and source of so many conflicts not really in terms of war but
in terms of relationships the other administration destroyed all of this the
goodwill and even relationship with Russia and relationships with the
Philippines and it's not an easy job to be just when there's a new guy in town
you just say everything is forgotten they have literally Congress that is not
a in full accord with the US president and they are just opposite if they said
fighting right now threatening even to impeach President Trump America is hard
up to follow you sometimes you're in good terms
for example Duffy says that agree he agrees with me and I think that I'm
doing it the right way and even he but two weeks ago and now just going to get
tough against the drug drug lords and everybody within put drugs
you could almost find the similar words between my mouth and from small but you
know those things that we ordered and those things that that we expect to be
delivered is being hampered because it is equally the powers of the president
is subject also to the checks and balances of Congress and sometimes is
paralyzed he himself now even find censured maybe not really big trouble
but in trouble I have nothing against America but perfectly alright
clamp is my friend but my foreign policy has shifted from both of that
pro-western I now have this working alliance with China and I hoped
establish a good working relations with Russia
why because Western world you and everything they have this double-talk do
you think your society will support this idea because there are intensive times
within the society with America historically do you think you will have
supports of the people there is anything to gripe for it is me
grabbing for what did you invade my country 50 years ago sat on this land
and give up with the fat of the land when you expect me to be happy you are
so angry I can feel like if you treat me as if I am your codon is still what you
must be kidding why would they allow equator they allow you to treat me as if
I am your representative here as a colonial governor we are independent
country we will survive we will endure we can go hungry but this time I want my
country treated with dignity so you once said that you don't want
America in your country so you were serious yes
I said no I said American troops that one day during my term I'm if I survive
the CIA no no we might survive the CIA I have said you talked a lot about
assassination do you really expect that to happen they do it does it surprise
you and you worrying but they call you a paintable life they can even lock the
president out of this country and fish for simple face trial in another country
what should happen so that it improved well yeah I waited are you waiting for
an apology no the court not that's not a I don't what the thing to happen so what
my message is enough that I respect Ram he is a friend and he is welcome to
Colombia on November but we've been talking about arms I'm talking about
boat well defense regarding Isis I'd rather
in my preliminary talks with the resident 15 I got a favorable response I
hope we can convert into something substantial because it is only Russia
and China who can be relied with the words America is double toe
the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing because I said the
arms are suspended and the Senate has not really agreed or they're still
debating on it whether to give us the arms or not my country is fighting
terrorism how long can I wait until such time that we are on bended knees it
might be too late but after all if I do not act now and so with the drug problem
if my country collapses who will bring it back the United States Russia sells
arms it does not impose this she does not did impose any condition when Russia
serves the Armistice systems you need it I will give Utley that's a known fact
you do not attach conditions a straight negotiation if you are ready
to hell with you oh okay we'll help we'll give you this and can you do that
with America no because the president says he will give you and the State
Department said no and then as Congress we said Nora he's a human rights
violators or we keep the distance and then if that is the case so be it I will
not hanker for it on bended knees I will not ask for mercy for that alone you
just came back from China yes your relations with China are a little bit
warmer than compared to your predecessor and actually warmer than it was expected
yes we didn't see you riding to the islands in the China South Sea with
Filipino flag to put it there as was promised
is that just tactic or you change the strategy yeah when it is so ridiculous
it must be a joke a bunch of using joke here that I
brought that practice also nationwide that's why I would ride on a jet ski why
would I write on a jet ski I would write only both of the baby if I thought the
Buddha what imagine riding with the gonna do he built in the under your
armpit and you write the motor order but you didn't go there on about either you
instead you went to China I was about to go there but Serena said can you please
avoid this at this time because it might get the wrong it might give the wrong
impression and every head of state was claiming that the vast cedar as Sedaris
would also go there and out of respect of my friendship with Chinese it okay so
but that's taking about forget that gonna ok raise it from your mind it's
all job I said if I go there as president I will write on and maybe I
just and of course it was a joke but it showed what kind of policy you are going
to conduct towards China and people expected some pass policy do you expect
me to 510 and what do I have the cruise missiles forget them do I have the
missiles to run from the abomination so what will happen is going to be a
massacre never mind about the insistence of the arbitrage at the end of the day
it is this it is say you say it is yours and I say it is mine and ok and any word
the other guy of the bargaining table with you ok
it is yours and so what now
though I look stupid we can talked about it later on but not now because
everybody's grabbing a piece of the property maybe on the time comes and
everything is quiet and it's conducive to talks and they said the dimension
about joint venture and but not now no hard no hard sell now I realized that
and because sometimes would be high-handedness of America and treating
its its friends as if we are not friends so I decided that I will craft an
independent foreign policy that would allow me to interact with China and the
rest of the world and in Europe to reach out for new markets problem now is
events just like any other places especially in the Middle East the
radicalism the extremism has overtaken us just like the middle is it used to be
a problem of Europe and the United States whether to declare war for no
reason at all except the weapons of mass destruction we were there then undermine
Libya and have this problem now so and be useful entities of talking about
peace has been overtaken by the extremism now prevailing in the world
same thing here the ISIS established a base in my country and down south and we
are fighting terrorism just like any country you know and we need the arms
and suddenly those senators of us can be said that they will not proceed with the
exportation of selling beef our answer and I said no problem
as I know let's go to China to Russia to plead my case and I said you would
understand because they are also suffering from terrorism we are talking
is a worldwide problem why can't rap just be open and just to
tell this counterpart resident hotel but you guys have the same problem so
what's your strategy death how could it affect your national security by the way
tell me so what about Isis do you think Isis militants here in the Philippines
their homegrown or they were kind of imported there are so many Caucasians
looking we have captured or killed about six already and they are from the Middle
East Muslim okay and how are you going to fight
terrorism this task that so many countries actually fail to deal with
well not really filled but put it under control it's a it's a state of the mind
with up and a big arrays easily in every generation there is always a serious
problem to solve and so you have to be serious about it and sometimes not go
beyond but in excess of what is really good for because you want an assurance
that your country is safe if we have to kill an extra guy to make it more
thicker then do it might God do it and if they put 100 more killed and 100 more
safer if you are leader and you don't know how to serve it you must be you do
not deserve I should not be serving maybe what I can really say is that I do
not need the presidency at this time of my life I'm 72 years old as president I
have to preserve and defend the Filipino nation and I will exactly
do it but ever bdprice whatever be because it's my solemn duty to see to it
that my country is really what it should be a peaceful and comfortable place to
live you can ask your personal question yes
two years ago you shocked the media really relieved it revealing that you
had been molested by a priest when you were 14 or 15 years old and then later
you even identified that priest it was an American yes national not really I
devote plus two generations up until dinner and on all of us you were 70
years old at that time why would you make that profession like more than 50
years later the abuses of the priests being filmed everywhere there was an
Italian underground Willman I am so useful that of this running naked over
and under and the enemy totally bothered to this today there is no condemnation
nothing the shoulder of the press and the religious people doing the shit
niggas well it is as if it's just a part of the show of the night it is it
liberality this is because you do not want to condemn your own continent
origins because of the victims were just natives never mind about them we were
considered victims so sometimes pictured as Apes was that
important thing that he was an American oh I don't know I were I I dropped it
for the first time yeah it was actually all the bishops stupid and they are
really stupid you know that because there is a book here which also it
exposes their synagogues and there it's called all
of secrets and way I have a copy I'll give you one it was wrote by n rate or
of a the Bishops Conference and
all our sacred give it to you read it and you will understand how it how it
how the thanking Catholic Church's corrupted this country oh by the way I
believe in that I really believe in that I put my destiny in the hands of God the
priests
you

US Sidelined As Europe Rebuffs Donald Trump | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC - Duration: 8:34.
>>> THIS IS FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS EARLIER TODAY.
THE PRESIDENT SAYS THE ALLEGATIONS OF RUSSIAN MEDDLING
IN THE U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ARE, QUOTE, FICTION,
INVENTED BY THE DEMOCRATS IN ORDER TO EXPLAIN THEIR LOSS.
WOULD IT SURPRISE YOU TO NOTE THE PRESIDENT WHO SAID THAT WAS
NOT DONALD TRUMP. IT'S NOT.
THAT'S ACTUALLY WHAT RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN SAID IN
AN INTERVIEW RELEASED EARLIER TODAY.
PRESIDENT PUTIN MUST BE HAVING A BIT OF A MIND MELD WITH OUR
PRESIDENT. DONALD TRUMP SAID NEARLY THE
EXACT SAME THING THIS MORNING TWEETING, QUOTE, RUSSIAN
OFFICIALS MUST BE LAUGHING AT THE U.S. AND HOW LAME EXCUSE FOR
WHY THE DEMS LOST THE ELECTION HAS TAKEN OVER THE FAKE NEWS.
AND WHILE THE KREMLIN AND THE WHITE HOUSE SEEM TO BE WORK OFF
THE SAME TALKING POINTS, THAT'S NOT THE CASE WHEN IT COMES TO
OUR LONGSTANDING ALLIES. FOLLOWING LAST WEEK'S NATO AND
G7 SUMMITS, GERMAN CHANCELLOR ANGELA MERKEL SAID HER COUNTRY
CAN NO LONGER RELY ON ALLIES LIKE THE UNITED STATES.
THE TIMES IN WHICH WE COULD COMPLETELY DEPEND ON OTHERS IS
OVER. CHANCELLOR MERKEL'S OPPONENT
ALSO BLASTED DONALD TRUMP FOR HIS BEHAVIOR DURING THE NATO
SUMMIT. DESPITE BEING IN THE THICK OF A
HEATED ELECTION, THE CHANCELLOR REPRESENTS ALL OF US AT SUMMITS
LIKE THIS. AND I REJECT WITH OUTRAGE THE
WAY THIS MAN TAKES IT UPON HIMSS TO TREAT THE HEAD OF OUR
COUNTRY'S GOVERNMENT. THE LEVEL OF TRUST BETWEEN THE
TWO COUNTRIES HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT GERMANY DOES NOT WANT THE
U.S. INTELLIGENCE HELP WHEN IT COMES TO MONITORING THEIR
ELECTION. A SENIOR U.S. INTELLIGENCE
OFFICIAL TOLD NBC NEWS THAT THERE ISN'T MUCH TRUST IN THE
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO ELECTIONS.
IF YOU'RE HOPING THAT OUR COUNTRY'S RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR
OTHER EUROPEAN PARTNERS MIGHT PROVE MORE FRUITFUL, WELL, THINK
AGAIN. THE SENIOR EU OFFICIAL HAD THIS
TO SAY ABOUT THE CURRENT AMERICAN PRESIDENT'S RAPPORT
WITH OTHER EUROPEAN LEADERS CALLING DONALD TRUMP, QUOTE, A
NEW STRANGE KID IN THE CLASS NOBODY LIKES.
AND AS FOR THAT VERY TENSE HANDSHAKE BETWEEN DONALD TRUMP
AND THE NEW FRENCH PRESIDENT, EMMANUEL MACRON, LAST WEEK, THE
ONE DESCRIBE AS A WHITE KNUCKLED CLENCHED JAWED BATTLE OF WILLS.
THAT WAS NO ACCIDENT. PRESIDENT MACRON TOLD A FRENCH
NEWSPAPER THAT, ONE MUST SHOW THAT WE WON'T MAKE LITTLE
CONCESSIONS, EVEN SYMBOLIC ONES. PRESIDENT MACRON WENT ON TO
COMPARE TRUMP TO THE LIKES OF STRONG MEN LIKE VLADIMIR PUTIN
AND THAYYIP ERDOGAN. DONALD TRUMP, THE PRESIDENT OF
TURKEY OR THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA ARE A MIND-SET OF POWER
RELATIONS WHICH DOESN'T BOTHER ME.
I DON'T LET ANYTHING GO. THAT'S HOW I MAKE ONE
SELF-RESPECTED. TALK ABOUT A NEW WORLD ORDER.
>>> JOINING US IS A FORMER U.S. AMBASSADOR TO NATO WHO IS NOW
PRESIDENT OF THE CHICAGO COUNCIL ON GLOBAL AFFAIRS.
AMBASSADOR, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.
AND FIRST OF ALL, LET'S START WITH THE RELATIONSHIP WITH
GERMANY. HOW MUCH SHOULD THE AMERICAN
PEOPLE BE CONCERNED AT WHAT APPEARS TO BE GERMANY'S
WILLINGNESS TO BREAK ESSENTIALLY FROM THE UNITED STATES?
>> WELL, IT IS CONCERNING THAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE
UNITED STATES AND WHAT REALLY IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT EUROPEAN
ALLY, GERMANY, THE STRONGEST ECONOMY, THE LEADER OF THE
EUROPEAN UNION, AND A MAJOR PLAYER WHEN IT COMES TO OUR
RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA THAT THAT RELATIONSHIP IS NOT AS STRONG AS
IT SHOULD BE. I DON'T THINK IT'S BREAKING.
I THINK CHANCELLOR MERKEL WAS MAKING A POINT THAT SHE HAD
ANOTHER, NOT SUCH A GREAT MEET WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP.
HER FIRST MEETING IN MARCH WASN'T VERY GOOD.
MEETING IN BOTH NATO AND IN ITALY AT THE G7 SUMMIT WAS A
PROBLEM. AND SHE'S MAKING IT CLEAR THAT
IF IT COMES TO THE FUTURE OF HOW WE ARE GOING TO MAKE DECISIONS,
DON'T AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME THAT GERMANY WILL BE FOLLOWING
AMERICA'S LEAD. >> THERE ARE A LOT OF
REPUBLICANS WHO SAID EUROPEAN NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME TO STAND
UP FOR ITSELF, TO DO MORE FOR ITSELF, SPEND MORE ON ITS OWN
DEFENSE AND NOT RELY SO MUCH ON THE UNITED STATES.
IT'S PART OF WHAT DONALD TRUMP RAN ON.
IS THAT SOMETHING THAT AMERICANS SHOULD WELCOME IF EUROPE SAYS,
OKAY, FINE, WE'LL TAKE YOU OUP THAT.
GERMANY AND FRANCE WILL LEAD AND WE'LL PUT AMERICA TO THE SIDE
FOR NOW. >> YES, A STRONGER EUROPE IS IN
EVERYBODY'S INTEREST. IT'S IN OUR INTEREST.
IT'S IN EUROPE'S INTEREST. AND TO THE EXTENT THAT
CHANCELLOR MERKEL IS GOING TO STRENGTHEN HER RELATIONSHIP WITH
FRANCE AND THE OTHER EU COUNTRIES AND BOLSTER THEIR
DEFENSES, ALL OF THAT IS GOOD, BUT ONLY IF IT TAKES PLACE
WITHIN A LARGER CONTEXT OF A STRONG TRANS-ATLANTIC
RELATIONSHIP. IT'S NOT EUROPE OR THE
TRANS-ATLANTIC ALLIANCE. S IT -- IT HAS TO BE EUROPE AND
THE TRANS-ATLANTIC ALLIANCE. WE'VE ENCOURAGED THEM TO DO MORE
AND BE MORE CAPABLE BUT WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF OUR COMMITMENT TO
NATO. >> ARE YOU AMONG THOSE WHO
THOUGHT IT WAS CATASTROPHIC AND A HUGE ERROR FOR DONALD TRUMP
NOT TO EXPLICITLY ENDORSE ARTICLE 5 WHEN HE WAS AT THE
MEMORIAL? >> I DO, BOTH BECAUSE OF THE
SITUATION WHERE HE FOUND HIMSELF NEXT TO THE 9/11 MEMORIAL WHICH,
AFTER ALL, WAS THE 9/11 ATTACKS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME THAT
NATO INVOKED ARTICLE FIVE, THE COLLECTIVE DEFENSE PROVISION OF
THE TREATY. ALSO DURING THE CAMPAIGN, HE HAD
SAYS THINGS ABOUT NATO, HE CALLED IT OBSOLETE AND NOT
NECESSARY. THERE WAS AN EXPECTATION ON THE
PART OF HIS AIDES AND EVERYBODY ELSE THAT HE'D COME TO NATO
HEADQUARTERS, EMBRACE THE ALLIANCE, RECOMMIT AMERICA TO
ARTICLE FIVE AS EVERY ONE OF HIS PREDECESSORS SINCE HARRY TRUMAN
HAS DONE AND MOVE ON FROM THERE. THAT'S NOT WHAT HE DID, AND IT
WAS DEEPLY DISAPPOINTING. >> ALL THESE HEADLINES THAT TALK
ABOUT DONALD TRUMP AS THE KID IN CLASS NO ONE LIKES.
THE BULLY IN SCHOOL NO ONE LIKES TO TALK TO THAT YOU HAVE TO BE
NICE TO IN FRONT OF THE TEACHER. THE WHOLE GOLF CART RIDE WHILE
EVERYONE ELSE WAS WALKING. IT FEELS LIKE THE UNITED STATES
PRESIDENT IS MUCH MORE ISOLATED FROM OUR FORMER ALLIES AND THEN
THIS INTERESTING STORY. AN ARTICLE THAT CAME OUT WHILE
WE WERE ON THE AIR FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS BEEN HANDING OUT HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER TO
WORLD LEADERS AND URGING THEM TO CALL HIM DIRECTOR.
AN UNUSUAL INVITATION THAT BREAKS DIPLOMATIC PROETS COLAND
IS RAISING CONCERNS ABOUT THE SECURITY AND SECRECY OF THE U.S.
COMMANDER IN CHIEF. JUSTIN TRUDEAU HAS ALREADY TAKEN
ADVANTAGE OF THE OFFER. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS REPORT?
>> I THINK IN SOME SENSE IT CONVEYS THE IDEA THAT THE
PRESIDENT DOES WANT TO HAVE A STRONG PERSONAL RAPPORT WITH
OTHER LEADERS AND BY EXCHANGING CELL PHONE NUMBERS, HE'S TRYING
TO SAY, I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WHERE WE CAN
TALK TO EACH OTHER WHENEVER YOU WANT TO.
AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. THE BAD THING, OF COURSE, IS OUR
CELL PHONE COMMUNICATIONS ARE HARDLY SECURE.
ANYBODY IN THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY WILL BE ABLE TO LISTEN
IN, AND EQUALLY IMPORTANTLY, THE REASON WE HAVE NOT ONLY SECURE
COMMUNICATIONS BUT MORE REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS, IS SO THAT
PEOPLE CAN TAKE NOTES AND WE KNOW WHAT PROMISES THE PRESIDENT
WILL HAVE MADE TO ACT UPON IT. IF NO ONE IS LISTENING IN, IF
IT'S JUST A CALL BETWEEN TWO GUYS OR A GUY AND A GAL AND NO
ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT'S BEING SAID, THEN
DIPLOMACY WILL BECOME MORE DIFFICULT TO PURSUE, AND
AGREEMENTS, WHATEVER IS REACHOD THE TELEPHONE, MAY NOT BE ACTED
UPON. SO SECURE COMMUNICATION, VERY
IMPORTANT. MAKING SURE THAT EVERYBODY KNOWS
WHAT THE PRESIDENT SAYS, AND ACTS UPON IT EQUALLY IMPORTANT.
>> AND ONE WONDERS WHETHER YOU CAN CREATE BETTER RELATIONSHIPS
ON THE PHONE THAT YOU WEREN'T ABLE TO DO IN PERSON WHEN YOU
HAD THE OPPORTUNITY. SO THAT IS AN INTERESTING TACK.
>> THAT'S CERTAINLY TRUE. >> THANK YOU, SIR.
REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR TIME. >> MY PLEASURE.
>>> UP NEXT, A BIZARRE STORY INVOLVING IVANKA TRUMP'S
BUSINESS INTERESTS. ONE YOU'RE GOING TO WANT TO
STICK A PIN IN. >>> PLUS, THE ROLL BACK OF CIVIL
RIGHTS EFFORTS UNDER PRESIDENT TRUMP.

TRUMPS SURPRISING SPEECH IN SAUDI ARABIA & SIGNING OF THE LARGEST U.S. ARMS DEAL TO
DATE
BY KALEE BROWNMAY
A lot of change occurred within the global political landscape this week (or so it seems).
We saw President Donald Trump deliver a powerful keynote speech at the Arab Islamic American
Summit in Saudi Arabia, where he signed the largest arms deal in U.S. history.
Instead of being a speech about radical Islam, which many believe to be a creation
of the western military alliance, his speech in Saudi Arabia was one that discussed a future
of peace and unity.
Though it still contained a bit of fear mongering, it came as a surprise to many.
Trump even announced that the U.S. was going to stop financing terrorist groups, a move
that presumably would upset the elite and those who profit off war and terror.
The fact that he has called out the US government multiple times for funding terrorism, is quite
remarkable.
Its something that prior presidents never even talked about.
During his visit, Trump also signed the United States single largest arms deal to date,
valuing at a whopping $350 billion with Saudi Arabia.
However, when it comes to politics, things are rarely as they seem.
Why is the Trump administration rewarding Saudi Arabias war crimes with more weaponry,
and how will his promises affect global politics?
Details from Trumps Speech in Saudi Arabia
Before I begin to analyze Trumps address, its important to note that he didnt
actually write his speech himself.
The speech was drafted by Stephen Miller, Senior Adviser for Policy and Speechwriter,
who is well-known for his Islamophobic rhetorics, and the same individual who actually wrote
Trumps controversial travel ban.
This is another clear example of why we cannot trust what politicians say.
This speech wasnt even produced by the President himself, it was drafted by an advisor,
so who knows what his actual views are.
Secondly, Trump made some fairly racist remarks during his campaign, and now he is all of
a sudden a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion.
If anything, this is another example that proves how politicians will do and say anything
in order to gain support from the public (or in many cases, the elite).
Here are some of the notable quotes from the speech:
After highlighting some of the more beautiful aspects of the Middle East, Trump explained,
But this untapped potential, this tremendous cause for optimism, is held at bay by bloodshed
and terror.
There can be no coexistence with this violence.
There can be no tolerating it, no accepting it, no excusing it, and no ignoring it.
He then went on to address the sacredness of the land and why we shouldnt be encouraging
so much death and destructing, not just in the Middle East but everywhere, stating, Terrorism
has spread across the world.
But the path to peace begins right here, on this ancient soil, in this sacred land.
Trump announced that the U.S. would act as a friend of Saudi Arabias, noting, America
is prepared to stand with youin pursuit of shared interests and common security.
Heres where the speech truly gets interesting.
Up until this point, Trump has simply said some kind words on peace and a hopeful tomorrow,
but now he proceeds to discuss how this newfound peace will come into fruition.
Our partnerships will advance security through stability, not through radical disruption.
We will make decisions based on real-world outcomes not inflexible ideology.
We will be guided by the lessons of experience, not the confines of rigid thinking.
And, wherever possible, we will seek gradual reforms not sudden intervention.
Keep in mind that this is a very different stance than the U.S. government usually takes
anywhere.
Sudden intervention into conflicts in other countries has been the strategy of choice
for many years now, and even the Trump administration demonstrated this when they chose to launch
50 missiles at Syria in response to the chemical attack, which the Syrian and Russian President
claimed was a false-flag attack orchestrated by the United States.
Definitely, 100% for us, its fabrication Our impression is that the West, mainly the
United States, is hand-in-glove with the terrorists.
They fabricated the whole story in order to have a pretext for the attack, President
Assad said.
You can read more about that in our CE article here.
Nevertheless, perhaps Trumps words are sincere, or maybe the U.S. government only
wants to extend their kindness to Saudi Arabia for an ulterior motive.
At this point, its unclear.
However, if they do put a halt to sudden interventions, this will not be a welcomed approach by many
corporations and the elite who profit off war and chaos.
Trump continued:
I am proud to announce that the nations here today will be signing an agreement to prevent
the financing of terrorism, called the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center co-chaired
by the United States and Saudi Arabia, and joined by every member of the Gulf Cooperation
Council.
It is another historic step in a day that will be long remembered.
This is perhaps the most noteworthy statement Trump made during his speech.
The U.S. has funded terrorist groups for at least the past 20 years, which has been proven
by various government documents and has been openly discussed by numerous members of the
government.
Halting the funding to terrorist groups would be a huge financial loss to the U.S. government.
U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard addressed U.S. arms sales to ISIS and other terrorist
groups in a speech, offering a compelling call to action in the process:
I return to Washington, DC with even greater resolve to end our illegal war to overthrow
the Syrian government.
I call upon Congress and the new Administration to answer the pleas of the Syrian people immediately
and support the Stop Arming Terrorists Act.
We must stop directly and indirectly supporting terroristsdirectly by providing weapons,
training and logistical support to rebel groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIS; and indirectly
through Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, and Turkey, who, in turn, support these terrorist
groups.
We must end our war to overthrow the Syrian government and focus our attention on defeating
al-Qaeda and ISIS.
You can read our CE article about it here.
The Treasury described the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) as a collaborative
approach to confronting new and evolving threats arising from terrorist financing. The TFTCs
primary goals include identifying, tracking and sharing information on terrorist financing,
with a focus on disrupting the flow of finances and weaponry while also providing support
to the region in order to deprive radical groups such as Islamic State and al Qaeda.
To be clear, these are the very groups that the U.S. funds, so this would be a significant
change in regime for the U.S. government.
Congresswoman Gabbard actually already commented on the TFTC, referring to it as a farce,
which isnt much of a surprise given many of the countries history in funding terrorists
and their extreme interpretation of Islam.
So, how does the new U.S. arms deal with Saudi Arabia relate to all of this?
Trump Rewards Saudi War Crimes With $350 Billion Worth of Weapons
In October 2016, the Saudi Arabia-led coalition bombed an entire funeral hall in Yemens
capital, Sanaa, injuring and killing hundreds of civilians.
Almost immediately after, the Obama administration suspended the sale of approximately $400 million
worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia.
The United Nations statement on Yemen states, Nearly 2.2 million children in Yemen are
acutely malnourished and require urgent care.
At least 462,000 children suffer from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), a drastic increase
of almost 200 per cent since 2014. Whats worse is that the U.S. is in part to blame
for this, as Human Rights Watch found remnants of U.S. laser-guided or satellite-guided munitions
at three strike locations, two of which resulted in civilian casualties.
The worsening state of Yemen is also a direct result of the war fuelled by the Saudis, who
purchase arms from the U.S..
In December 2016, the U.S. announced that they would stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia
due to the extreme violence and increasing number of deaths in Yemen.
However, this was likely a PR stunt, as the U.S. was still planning to continue to support
Morocco, Qatar, and the U.A.E. at the time, which all play significant roles in the Saudi-led
coalition.
Even Congresswoman Gabbard was quoted as saying that the CIA has also been funnelling weapons
and money through Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and others who provide direct and indirect
support to groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda.
And now, we have Trump, who literally just expressed his sentiments to all countries
experiencing war and terror and pledged to help create a more peaceful future for all,
signing a $350 billion deal to sell weapons to a country that fuels war and terror.
It makes you question why he gave that speech in the first place: Was it all just a massive
PR stunt to make the public think that the U.S. is fighting war and terror, when in reality
theyre funding it?
Though the $350 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia will be over the span of 10 years,
approximately $110 billion will be taken into effect immediately.
The U.S. Department of State said in a statement on Saturday:
This package of defense equipment and services supports the long-term security of Saudi Arabia
and the Gulf region in the face of malign Iranian influence and Iranian related threats.
Additionally, it bolsters the Kingdoms ability to provide for its own security and
continue contributing to counterterrorism operations across the region, reducing the
burden on US military forces.
Final Thoughts
To me, this sounds as if Trump wants Saudi Arabia to do the U.S. governments dirty
work.
This begs the question: How long will Saudi Arabia agree to do so?
By holding active deals with Saudi Arabia, the U.S. government isnt just putting their
reputation at risk, theyre putting all Americans in the cross fire, so to speak.
If the U.S. continues to sell arms to a country that has violated the laws of war numerous
times, its exposing U.S. officials to legal liability for aiding and abetting coalition
war crimes.
Lets keep in mind that Trump isnt really the one whos in charge here, he could just
be the political puppet of choice.
We know he didnt write the speech, and realistically hes probably not making these
decisions either.
Ask yourself: What groups of people profit from chaos and violence the most?
When it comes to alleged terrorist attacks, wars, and any type of violence or chaos, the
sad truth is that the government, the shadow government, or the elite are often involved.
Regardless, the U.S. government is ultimately controlled by the cabal, but both of them
have two common interests: profit and control.
So, is Trump really looking to inspire peace, or is he somehow profiting from the chaos?
Perhaps the answer to that question is both, but after looking at this new Saudi Arabia
arms deal, its clear that there is truth in the latter.
On a final note, this information isnt meant to scare readers.
We believe that through education and raising consciousness, we can create positive change.
The more we think for ourselves and search for the truth, the greater the potential for
change!
