Still watering.
Still growing.
Still looking good!
I probably should mow back here because it's kind of getting a little out of control with
the weeds, but I still want to hold off and try and wait for those new seedlings to get
about three to three and a half inches tall.
So, I'll just continue to watch the grass grow.
But what I want to talk about today doesn't have to do with my back yard.
It doesn't have to do with my front yard.
It doesn't have to do with my own personal yard at all!
What am I talking about?
Well let's take a little drive.
Every single day that I come to work and walk past our grass, it makes me cringe.
Let me show you what I'm talking about.
Now it doesn't look like it right now because it was freshly cut this morning but this section
right here, that section right there, and that section back there, full of weeds.
Matter of fact, it reminds me of my yard when I first started my rehab program, just chalked
full of weeds.
Just...doesn't look good.
So we want to fix that.
Now what kind of weeds are we dealing with?
Well, let's talk to one of the experts.
So we've got a bunch of different weeds out here.
Dove weed.
Crabgrass.
Nut sedge.
Spotted Spurge.
Chamber Bitter.
And Virginia button weed.
Actually if you want to get a good picture of Dove Weed, do that one!
That whole thing is nothing but Dove Weed.
So this whole thing right in here.
This whole thing!
Look at this!
That's all Dove Weed.
So what's the plan?
Hit it with some Herbicides and see what happens.
We've got Bermuda mixed into out Fescue, but I'm not sure if we're going to do anything
with our Bermuda.
Where's the actual grass though?
That's...
It is right here.
We've got one little tiny section right there.
Right here.
Got our work cut out for us.
We've got a job ahead of us, yes.
What's kind of of funny about all this, is we actually pay a lawn service to come out
here and spray for these weeds.
I wish we could say that we've let it get this bad on purpose but that's not that truth.
That's just our lawn care service for you.
And as you can see they've done an OK job, but we think we can do better.
So really we've got a whole lot of stuff in each one of these little sections, so here's
what we're going to do.
We're going to test three different products, in these three different areas, see how they
stack up against each other, and we're just going to see what we can do this late in the
game.
See what kind of control we can get.
And yeah, just see what happens.
So, yeah.
That was the plan, but...unforeseen things happened and we just, we just missed our window
of opportunity.
Mother nature happened.
Mother nature happened.
That's right.
So the first opening shots of this video, that was shot about a week ago and we had
planned on putting down our herbicide application the very next day.
But mother nature had other plans and it just dumped rain on us.
And for about a week.
Seven days.
Yeah, seven days.
So like Paul said, we had a very small window.
We were trying to do weed control prior to an aeration and overseeding that's scheduled
for the middle of September.
We knew that we had about 30 days and 30 days was it.
Well now that we've had rain for a week straight, that's pushed our window back to 21 days.
Yeah, just screwed up the whole schedule.
The schedule has been blown up.
Yup!
So, we are no longer able to spray the herbicides because we don't want to interfere with the
aeration and overseeding and the germination from the seed that they're putting down.
Say that again!
I'm glad to see that you got a hat and glasses now that Gods let the sun come back out.
You just got to always be prepared man.
Another a reason we didn't do the application, we were worried about our chances of success.
And the reason for that is...
The maturity of the weeds.
Maturity of the weeds.
Alright explain that to us.
So, with crabgrass in particular, and that's one of the ones we wanted to try out and see
if we could get results on, it grows through tiller stages.
And that's how you have to look at it.
Usually most herbicides will effect it any where from the third to the fifth or seventh
tiller stage.
Anything beyond that, you will not get very good results from it.
OK, so try to explain to us, because when we were talking about this, this is the first
time that I've ever heard tiller stage.
And I didn't know what that was, so explain that.
So, tiller stage, is the individual branches coming off of the grass itself.
So each one of these branches is considered a tiller stage.
So as you can see, this one is probably about the 30th tiller stage!
Very mature crab grass.
So when we're talking about tiller stages, we're talking about the individual branches
off of the crab grass plant.
So, each one of these branches is considered a tiller.
And then off of each tiller, you'll have leaves that come off.
So when we're talking about the 7th tiller stage, we're literally talking about seven
stems off of one crab grass plant.
It does not take very long for crab grass to mature like this.
This has probably been growing for a few weeks and only a few weeks to get to this stage.
So, we wanted to try it, see if we could get any results, mother nature didn't help us
out, and so we're not going to do it.
So, to get good results from any product that you're going to use for crab grass, you do
have to hit it early, and early in the tiller stages.
So the younger the crab grass, the better results you're going to have from any of the
weed control that you apply to it.
It is very difficult to get control after the 7th tiller stage.
You may get some decline or some suppression, but maybe not total eradication of the weed.
So we're not abandoning this project, we are going to get out here and try some control
methods, stake up a couple of different products to see how they do against each other.
We're going to come back out here we're just not going to be able to do it..
This year.
This year.
Next year.
To be continued!
Yes!
You had a good idea.
What was your idea?
My idea was to let the viewers kind of decide on what products to use in the different zones
that we have out here.
We have about three different spots that we could use three different products.
So maybe put a list of five or six products that's specific for fescue, and let y'all
decide on what y'all want to see results from.
Now we know of product that we are for certain we're going to use but we're going to keep
that under our hat, we're going to keep that as a surprise, but yeah...list what you want
to see us use in these different areas for fescue.
Yup, and hopefully broad leaf and grassy weed control.
Yeah, good idea!
Boom.
SO there you go.
There's a little peak behind the curtain if you will into some of our future plans for
the series and the content that we want to put out there for you.
Seriously cannot wait to sink our teeth into controlling that area, this area and that
one back there.
But we've got to wait.
Patience.
Patience.
We're going to get back to my yard.
I've still got the back yard where we're trying to get the tall fescue to grow.
Still got some things we've got to do there.
Talk about fall tips.
There's still more content to come.

SafeTTC: What do you think of the mobile app? (3) - Duration: 1:01.
I've had many, multiple friends encountering situations, like harassment, or someone verbally
harassing them and no one else would, like, step up for them.
So I feel like the app is, like, one step closer to helping people in such situations.
If you want to say something about it, you're just a click away from just, you know, helping
it.
As for the Wi-Fi—and there's going to be Wi-Fi in the stations, so it's going
to be, like, super helpful to help that person, or yourself even.
Sometimes you have drunk people, intoxicated people, and everyone kind of ignores that.
I would have used it for that, because I don't want to cause an alarm, I don't
want to stop the train.
I'm trying to get somewhere in time and it just causes a lot of unnecessary delays.
It will give the TTC additional resources to follow up on any incidents—that's pretty
useful and I think it will be very beneficial for the riders.

SafeTTC: What do you think of the mobile app? (1) - Duration: 1:14.
It's a nice way to just, like, discreetly, kind of put a call out for help.
It just makes you feel safer because you know that something, there is something, you
can do if you do see something.
I think if the TTC was able to, I guess, collect data on what is happening or where it's
happening, and if it's happening all the time and they are able to put officers out
there to make sure that it doesn't happen, or they're able to catch it or like control
it, it just makes everybody safer and, I guess, makes me feel safer that something is happening,
that the problem that I had reported or whether people are reporting, that the TTC is actually
taking action.
Who knows if anything gets done with it, right?
Or if it ever gets logged?
So yeah, it's a pretty good thing to have.
It's always good to know, like, if I did put something in — you know if someone harassed
me or something — that it is getting looked after and get some feedback, it's great.
Yeah, I think, as a student, I'll be much, I'll feel much more safer.
Most people are, like, most of the times they're like a bit frightened to report stuff,
because they don't want to be involved.
I would be interested in downloading it, yeah.
And I would definitely use it.

What to do When You Get a New Puppy | Rover.com - Duration: 2:37.
Hi, I'm Nicole Ellis. I'm a certified professional dog trainer and today we're
gonna talk about what to do when you get a new puppy.
Getting a new puppy can be thrilling exciting but also a bit daunting.
There's so much going on, from potty training, puppy playtime, socialization,
and making sure he's not eating your computer charger.
Here's my quick go-to list for the first things to do when you bring home your new family member.
Step 1: I'm a big fan of crate training. When trained properly dogs love their crates.
Not only will a crate help you with potty training, but it'll give your pup somewhere safe to nap and call their own.
Dogs will instinctually find a small hiding place for themselves such as under the bed.
This goes back to wolves and their dens, and crate provides that same feeling.
Step 2: Look into having pet insurance. I'm personally a big fan of it.
You'll want to do your research on the pet insurance companies.
Some are better for certain breeds than others, and sadly, our pets can get hurt and sick at young ages.
It's best to be prepared. You don't want to have to make decisions
based on costs, but instead based on their quality of life and comfort.
Owning a pet is a big rewarding responsibility, and having insurance takes some of that pressure off.
Step 3: Make sure your home is puppy proofed.
Puppies love to chew on things they need to satisfy that urge while teething,
which is why you'll want to give them something they should be chewing on such as a chew toy.
Pick everything off your floor that you don't want chewed.
This includes your favorite shoes and socks,
but also things that could be dangerous for them such as laptop chargers and loose power cords.
If you can't watch your pup, it's a great time for that crate or a playpen where they can stay out of trouble.
While puppies are young, do as much as you can to socialize your new dog to their surroundings,
new people, and objects with of course lots of praise and treats.
Step 4: It's never too early to start training.
Seriously, no your four-month old dog won't be doing handstands, but it's a great time to work on the basics.
Games in the house are fun for the whole family and allow you to keep working on some important behaviors like stay leave it and sit.
When doing training don't allow things that you wouldn't want a full-grown dog doing.
While it may be cute when a ten pound dog jumps up on you to lick your face,
It won't be as cute when he's 75 pounds and trying to do it to your grandparents or grandkids.
Lastly, take lots of photos. They grow up so fast.

5 Annoying Things English Teachers Do | And How to Find a Good Teacher - Duration: 7:16.
After learning 2 different languages over a period of 5 years, I've taken literally
hundreds of different language classes.
I've done it all: group classes at both University and language schools, private classes
both in person and online. Intensive immersion.
And pretty much all these classes had 1 thing in common: they were boring.
And it wasn't until I became an English teacher that I realized why I didn't like
any of my language classes.
I'm Jennifer, a certified English teacher and in today's video, I'm going to share 5
annoying things that English teachers do.
I signed up for a French conversational class through a language school.
I was really excited because until this point I had only studied grammar and never really
spoke French.
I couldn't wait to use these new skills that I was learning and start talking!
First class goes by, I say 1-2 sentences in French, 2nd class goes by, same thing.
By the 4th class I'm just bored and don't even want to go.
The majority of the class we just listened to the teacher talk or explain something that
we already knew, and then the only time we got to talk was answering short and scripted
questions.
I learned a lot about the teacher's life though.
Only problem is, I was paying a lot of money and spending a lot of time to find this out,
and that's not what I wanted in my french conversational class.
Some time goes by and I sign up for another conversational class in french, but this time it was private, just me and the teacher.
So I figured, I'm going to be speaking the whole time.
I was telling my teacher a story about a vacation I just took and he literally interrupted me
every sentence to correct me.
It's really hard to continue a story when you're constantly being interrupted.
Plus my confidence speaking French was pretty low already, and after that it was
even lower.
I definitely wanted the teacher to correct my mistakes, but he could have waited until
I was done talking.
I mean, it would have only been 30 seconds!
As I student I felt really bad after that experience, and as I teacher I now understand
that there's a correct and incorrect way to address student's mistakes.
Pretty much every class I took, from beginner to advanced, we did the same boring fill in
the blank exercises.
I remember I was taking private online classes and my teacher found a website with fill
in the blanks, printed it out, and we just went through them together.
The whole time I thought to myself: I could do this on my own, why am I paying someone to
do this!
Needless to say, I didn't take those classes for very long.
I had a really good French teacher towards the end of my studies.
He was very kind, and most of the class I was talking and he was listening.
He helped guide me when I needed it, but didn't interrupt me and take over the conversation.
Plus, he helped me improve my pronunciation.
I had this teacher after taking 5 years of other French classes, and he pointed out that I was mispronouncing
the most basic and common French words.
I couldn't believe it.
And 5 years of countless classes and different teachers and not 1 person corrected my
pronunciation.
And now, after 5 years of pronouncing these simple words incorrectly, I had to change
them.
Do you know how hard it is to all of a sudden pronounce a word differently after saying
it one way for 5 years.
Of course you do, you're students!
For whatever reason, teachers don't focus on pronunciation.
It's very much a gap in language training.
After 3 years of studying French I went to order a meal at a French cafe.
I remember learning the polite way to order something in my very first French class, so
I was confident I knew how to say it.
The only problem is, the very polite expression that I learned from a textbook, isn't the
expression that French speakers use in every day conversations.
And as you know my pronunciation wasn't very good (although I didn't know this) so the
person couldn't understand me.
But I ordered my meal anyways, and then he asked me a follow up questions.
And I didn't understand anything!
Not a word.
He was talking so fast (for me), and I was expecting the standard reply I learned from a textbook.
But that's not the reply he gave me.
The problem is
It didn't prepare me to have a conversation with anyone except my French teacher and my fellow
classmates.
But that's not what I wanted.
I wanted to speak French with native French speakers, not just my French teacher.
I'm sharing this with you because I don't want you to make the same mistakes I made when
I learned French.
If I was to learn it again, I know I could learn the same amount in half the time.
And I wouldn't be terrified to order a cup of coffee in French after 5 years of learning the language!
I believe that I'm a great teacher now because I was a student for so long.
So I teach students the way I wish I was taught.
What about you?
Do you have an additional annoying habit that your teacher does that you want to share.
Let me know in the comments.
I would love to hear them, because as a teacher I want to make sure I avoid doing
these things!

How Do Blu-ray (and Other Optical Discs) Work - LaserDisc, CD, DVD, Blu-ray Explained - Duration: 2:24.
How do blu-ray (and other optical discs) work?
Blu-ray is the descendent of LaserDisc, and part of a group of storage media collectively
known as optical discs.
CDs, DVDs and later Blu-Ray discs, are some of the best known examples of these media.
These discs use the same form factor, and the devices that read them use lasers.
Optical discs have a layer where pits and flat area contain the disc's data in simple binary.
A pit represents zero, whereas a flat area represents one.
A laser is pointed at the disc as it spins,…
When the laser light hits a flat area, it reflects towards a photoelectric cell,
which then detects the light.
When the laser light strikes a pit, it doesn't get reflected towards the photoelectric cell.
This way the photoelectric cell can interpret the laser's light as binary data: ...
Reflected light equals one.
No light equals zero.
This binary is then processed by a computer, as data, a movie or music, for instance.
How much an optical disc can store, depends on how small the pits can be made on the physical disc, ...
and the type of laser being used to read the disc.
For instance, Blu-Ray uses blue lasers, which have a smaller wavelength than the red DVD
lasers, or the infrared lasers used with CDs.
Because this smaller wavelength makes the Blu-ray beam more precise, more data can be
stored on the same surface area, approximately five times more than on its predecessor, the DVD.
Added to that, Blu-Ray is a so-called third-generation optical disc, at the time of writing, fourth-generation
optical discs are still in development, … …with Ultra HD Blu-ray poised to supersede
regular Blu-ray, in the near future.
