Hi there smart driver.s Rick with Smart Drive Test talking to you today about
passing your road test first time this is smart Sunday number three and we are
answering questions for any of you taking a road test this week and have
questions about your upcoming road test and I have an interesting piece of
information for you I was talking to one of the driving instructors down at ICBC
which is our local testing authority here in British Columbia ICBC stands for
the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia which it's somewhat interesting
why an insurance company is responsible for testing for licenses here in the
province of British Columbia however the one of the things that I
said was talking about students who were saying to me that they failed the road
test because of one one thing that they did wrong on the road test which simply
is not true and unfortunately he was a bit more callous than I try to be when
I'm talking to students who have been unsuccessful on a road test I said to
him that you know I tell them that it's not just one thing that's the reason
that they passed the road test and he said yeah they have a limited amount of
time that they are able to talk to students about the problems and
challenges that they're having with with their driving so they don't get to cover
a whole lot of stuff and he did say that they somewhat sugarcoat what they're
telling you in terms of the feedback that they're giving you so essentially
what they're saying is that there's a lot more wrong with your driving than
just what they're telling you so when you come on and tell me one thing that
you did wrong on your road test there's probably more than that that's going on
and you probably need to go back and practice some of the fundamentals again
so Brent Stover is trying to get 500 subs on his YouTube channel because he
challenged his brother now Brett let me tell you something
sub4sub does not work okay it annoys people on YouTube and it doesn't work
you need to make valid comments on people's YouTube channel and then people
will come and to you and subscribe to your channel and
you have to put up good content if you don't put up decent content people are
gonna subscribe to your YouTube channel and if you go sub4sub and you ask people
to do that you're just going to annoy them so know that on YouTube that's kind
of a no-no in terms of going on people's YouTube channel and doing that it's
considered spam so be careful with that bread alright

how long did I Drive rigs for I was in and around I
I drove full-time for five years and then I drove sort of part-time for
another five years and then I drove coaches in Australia for three years
four years yeah I drove coaches for Greyhound and then I drove for v-line
part-time while I was going to university our Lancer was wondering if
you do a video on what to do if you get into an accident and how to handle a
situation with another dryer hopefully nobody gets an accident yeah there is a
video our clans are there about what to do in the event of a crash now one of
the other videos that I was watching here on YouTube that was really good the
piece of information that I got out of it and I'd have to look up the YouTube
channel because I don't remember who it is but I do know that he this person
publishes a lot of stuff but I have to look it up is after the crash happens in
the immediate aftermath of the crash take a minute make sure you secure the
vehicle before you get out of the vehicle because you don't want to step
out of the vehicle and the vehicle rolls away and causes another crash so that's
one thing that I didn't say in my video but do do that make sure that you secure
the vehicle before you get out of the vehicle to talk to the other driver
mister uncle I keep getting yelled at for making wide turns for right turns
yes mr. uncle Tings have a look at the video
down in the description there for the other videos and look for fundamentals
of driving that will help you with exercises that you can do in a parking
lot will to help you with your wide turns so that you can learn space in
place of the vehicle and learn how to control the primary controls and get
better at that then I would suggest that you do the two
by four exercise that's in that as well essentially all you do is you go out and
get an 8-foot chunk of 2x4 put it down in the pavement and try and drive over
with both the drivers Tigers and the passenger side tires in both forward and
reverse all right ninya Britain I take my driver's test next week regular
license awesome oh you're from North Carolina perfect excellent that's great
so that's the other question I asked at the beginning in the comments was where
where are people from and what class of license are you taking are you just
taking a regular passenger vehicle license are you taking a straight truck
airbrakes school bus and or tractor trailer could you please do a video on
how to alley dock on a rig now when you say alley doc are you talking about a
dock that's inside an alley are you talking about a dock that's inside a
building okay just answer that question Elk Grove and I'm working to get a Class
C license awesome so Class C darcy ax just remind me Garcia where is where is
Elk Grove is that here in British Columbia or is that somewhere in the
States you're working on a Class C so Class C is a bus license like for
driving a transit buses am I correct on that ninya Britton ninya the road test
in the United States sorry mean the road test in the United States tends to be
shorter than it is here in Canada tends to be 10 to 20 minutes it's not very
long at all and how you can maintain your road speed look at the video I
don't know whether it's in the description but on speed control it
might be the video might be there in the description down in the bottom just have
a look at that and that will help you with that and essentially what it is
just going out to parking lot and playing with throttle and then one of
the other ways that can help with your controlling the throttle is a good
scanning pattern so looking far down the road looking at the instrument panel
looking just in front of the vehicle looking at your instrument panel
checking your mirrors looking far down the road so you want to get a scanning
pattern and once you get that scanning pattern in place that'll help you with
me the control of the throttle glow gang
I'm eighteen never took a driver's and what do they do at DMV to get your
license well glow gang most of what you need is here on the channel look at the
playlist pass your road test smart and all the information that you need and
now some of the key things for passing road test drive the posted speed limit
or the flow of traffic whichever is less do not speed for very long this week
school goes back so all the school signs are going to be applicable
do not drive over painted islands stop so that when you stop in traffic stop so
that you can see the tires of the vehicle in front of you making clear
contact with the payment don't block intersections don't have any dangerous
actions and shoulder check twice for every turn and every time you move the
vehicle laterally so anytime you make a lane change or you move sideways you
need to shoulder check twice once before you move and then again immediately
before you move and you're gonna signal approx half a block before the turn now
just for everybody here there's four basic components of any road test it
doesn't matter class of license size the vehicle where
you are in the world all road tests of this force basic forcing basic
components and those are speed management space management observation
and communication so space management don't get near anything else any road
users make sure that you have at least three or four feet between you and other
cars and fixed objects and whatnot so stay away from other vehicles and cars
and road users and fixed objects Speight speed management make sure you
do the posted speed limit or the flow of traffic whichever is last observation so
make sure that you're scanning all the time to shoulder checks for every turn
and every time you move the vehicle laterally and then finally communication
and communication is all kinds of different things in terms of your road
test so it's the use of your lights which is your headlights your trap your
turning signals and your brake lights and whatnot on the rear of the vehicle
right so lights hand gestures appropriate hand gestures make sure that
if you're waving somebody on all five fingers don't tell them they're number
one at a road test because you won't be successful all right most important for
communication to other traffic is the position of your vehicle on the roadway
if you're in the left hand it's most likely for the purposes of the
road test you're gonna turn left so know that the position of your vehicle is on
the roadway is imperative for communicating to other traffic your
intention all right Tony is it's true sometimes driver instructors on a road
test ignore minor mistakes as long as they do your driving is very safe that
is very true Tony I one of the things that I will just remind you about on a
road test is you do not have to be perfect on a road test okay you are
allowed a certain amount of demerits here in British Columbia it's 45 demerit
points if you go above 45 demerit points you're not going to be successful that
number of points may vary a little bit but the test doesn't have to be perfect
and as long as your basics are in place and you can handle the vehicle safely
and the driving examiner no point gets the pucker factors which I call it when
they go through and they're terrified then you're probably going to be
successful on your road test and as I tell students all you have to do is take
away the examiners right to fail you that's that's it nothing more nothing
less okay so know that hello I'm Joseph I'll
be doing my G road test in Toronto on Friday good luck on that
Seth Joseph yes okay i buy i bypassed the g2 road
test because of experience certificate from my country any advice on taking
road tests in Toronto just those four basic components Joseph space management
speed management communication and observation and obviously it'll be it'll
depend a little bit where you're taking your road test in Toronto they may take
you out on one of the highways to the Don Valley Parkway the Gardiner
Expressway or the 401 depending on where you are there so just have just know
where you're gonna take your road test which driving centre which MTO centre
you're gonna be taking your driving test and then just be sure to practice in
that area before Friday so you got a good sense of what you're doing in those
types of things and again just remind you and I'm going to talk a little bit
about this more in the presentation I've got here for you that school goes back
in this week and because school goes back in this week you need to keep an
eye out for speed zone signs and school signs and those types of things and know
and I'll talk more about that in the presentation okay Nate hey Rick a week
ago I pulled in front of a motorcycle who I thought I had more room to pull
out in front of I thought you'd but he pulled beside me and told me not to do
that yeah how do I judge gap better that's a really good question Nate
because one of the things about judging gap is that the smaller the vehicles
such as motorcycles pedestrians bicycles and those types of things it's harder to
judge the space between you and them and it's also harder to judge how fast those
smaller vehicles are going so that's going to take a little bit more
experience for you to be able to judge that so do just know that that for the
smaller the vehicle on the roadway the harder it is to judge gap and space and
so if you're not sure just hang back and wait and let them go past and then
proceed yes Seth told me I look like Ed Harris which is which is a nice
compliment because I think that Ed Harris is a good-looking person so thank
you for that okay reach it I applied for Class B and I
took the test air brake in general and the school bus and now I want to add
combinations for future in case I want to change the Class A I could do that or
now I think what you're asking me is the air brakes the air brakes doesn't differ
Rachel tell me where you are in the in the world because that'll make a
difference to my answer for your question you may have to upgrade or may
not if you're on Ontario and you're gonna have to upgrade if you're
somewhere else you probably won't have to star ski I've got a driver's test
coming up this Wednesday and what are some tips for the road test okay we
already went over some of the tips don't drive over painted islands make sure
your shoulder checked twice for every turn every time you move the vehicle
laterally make sure that you observe and scan well make sure you stop in traffic
so you can see the tires in front of you make a clear contact with the pavement
posted speed limit or the flow of traffic whichever is less so those are
some of the major ones so you're in New York okay
in terms of air brakes you won't have to upgrade your air brakes because in New
York you have to take the trailer component with it
anyway so once you get to a Class A or tractor-trailer rather then use it's
just a simply a matter of upgrading your license and taking the test for
tractor-trailer and when you do your tractor-trailer all you have to do is
you will have to know the air brake component for the practical portion of
that test so just know that as part of upgrading to a tractor-trailer not a
problem Nate and thank you so much for that compliment that was really nice
thanks Rick I recently just got my license thanks to you and your videos
and yeah and the other thing I'm going to show you Starsky what are some of the
things that can make you fail automatically some of the things you can
make you fail automatically or dangerous actions for example if you make a
left-hand turn in the gap it's not sufficient for oncoming traffic
yeah that's an automatic fail if you bang over the curb in a parallel park
and when I mean bang I don't mean kind of nudge or bump the curb I mean back
the trade the wheel into the curb so the body rocks on the chassis that's going
to be an automatic fail if you speed for an extended period of time that's an
automatic fail if you speed in a school zone that is definitely an automatic
fail on a road test if you drive over the curb that's an automatic fail if you
crowd a pedestrian automatic fail so just know that that those are some of
your automatic fails and what but what I encourage students is make sure that you
just take your time speed space management observation communication if
you have all those pieces in place then you're gonna be fine on your road test
thank you Harris yes that's dude tonight on Ed Harris it must have been you know
I was doing my hair earlier and maybe that's why I'm looking like Ed Harris
so ok Nate also when making a left-hand turn you say have your front tires over
the crosswalk but what if there is a pedestrian okay you're when I say put
the front steer tires on the front crosswalk line in preparation for a
left-hand turn there aren't going to be any pedestrians because the through
traffic is going forward so the pedestrian traffic is not crossing over
the crosswalk Nate okay so you're gonna be okay there in terms of doing that
not to worry Starsky all good hopefully you're gonna be successful on your road
test and just see if anybody else has questions I missed okay
darcy a' needs some tips on how to park again look at the fundamentals of
driving down in the description box there on that video going rent some of
those 36 inch one meter tall pylons and go to a parking lot and do that and that
will help you with your parking and make you better give you better control of
the primary controls when you're learning how to drive so that's the best
way to do it okay Kinsey Kinsey happy what if you have a
slow acceleration car but you need to merge into the highway okay
Kinsey when you're on the acceleration lane put the pedal to the metal just a
hammer right down on the throttle put it right down as hard as it'll go and get
her going because I have a little car to that as a 4-cylinder and it doesn't go
too far but when you put it down right to the floor it should get up to a
decent speed for you to be able to merge merge over onto onto the highway and as
well if you signal early other traffic is going to help you out and they will
try to move over or slow down to let you merge onto the highway so that's the
other key to that Raquel from upstate New York is it okay to turn right on a
red light on a road test could they fail you know Raquel the only place in New
York City that our New York State that you cannot turn right on a red light is
New York City itself okay so if you're not in New York City proper then you're
okay to turn right on a red light it's in the DMV manual we I had a comment
from a user a smart driver last week and they asked me that question and we
looked it up in the manual and in fact you cannot turn right on a red light in
this the state or the city of New York proper okay
dawn could you explain a shoulder check in detail what when to dude do I do it
before I signal or before the turn okay dawn you have to shoulder check twice
for every turn and the direction that you're going to turn whether it's left
or right you simply turn your head 90 degrees in the direction that you want
to look you don't have to look any farther than that just 90 degrees a
quick turn to the head because we have two kinds of vision we have central
vision and we have peripheral vision so our central vision is about a quarter
like the coin in the quarter twenty five cent piece at arm's length that is their
central vision that is basically all that we can see our peripheral vision is
the rest 177 degrees and our peripheral vision is attracted to light and
movement so what happens is when we turn our head ninety degrees and we look out
to the left for example if we're gonna make a left-hand turn we're gonna move
the vehicle laterally left it's going to be attracted by light movement so if
there's something over there in that blind area then that will pull our
central vision in to be able to investigate and see whatever is over
there and we can get a better bead on that so that's what you're doing is
simply turning your shoulder check and now for turns in any time you move the
vehicle laterally you have to shoulder check twice there's a couple of videos
here on shoulder checking there might be down in the description there have a
look at those and those will help you better with the parallel parking
Zeta thank you so much great information Tyree how do I get out of a parking
space Tyree are you backing out of a parking space or are you driving out of
a parking space just let me know that and I'll be able to give you better
information about that jacques on a one-lane road you were approaching red
lights if for instance you'd like to turn right can you squeeze through to
turn right many people do this here so I was wondering if that was okay can you
squeeze through on the right-hand side if there is enough room yes you can if
there is a bicycle lane no you cannot if there's a line over there and it's a
solid white line you can't cross over a solid white line for the purposes of a
road test so if there's a solid white line over there such as a bicycle lane
no you cannot squeeze over there but again make sure you have ample room if
you're gonna squeeze in on the right make sure that you've got two or three
feet between you and the curve you got two or three feet between you
and the vehicle that you're squeezing in beside if you don't have that kind of
space then don't do it simply wait for the light to turn the vehicle to proceed
and then proceed with your right-hand turn okay like I say on road tests if
you're in the least bit doubt stop wait and wait for the traffic situation to
change or clear out and then go okay Anthony is trucking a job or a lifestyle
Anthony it really depends on what kind of job you get whether you're running a
long haul whether you're running regional regional means you're gone for
an overnight maybe a couple of days and then back or if you're running a local
which is you're gonna be running in a day cap if you're are you doing the
vocational work here in Vernon British Columbia there's a lot of occasional
works and what I say it mean by vocation work is there's a lot of chip trucks
here a lot of logging trucks those types of things so if you're running over the
road and you're running 25 to 2,800 miles a week which is a pretty average
number of miles that over the rotors are getting paid then then it is then it's
definitely a lifestyle it's it's definitely something that guys are doing
so yeah it's a lifestyle if you're running regional or local or you're
doing vocational work not so much it tends you can be more of a job you can
kind of shut it off at the end of the day and go home and see your family and
those types of things but if you're doing over the road when I did over the
road for five years it was very much a lifestyle so okay Tyree so you're
backing out of a parking space okay so what you need to do Tyree now just the
other I'm going to talk to things about road tests for purposes of a road test
leave your seatbelt on simply put your left hand over the back
of the driver seat if you're driving on the right side of the road and then turn
your body around so you can see out the back window and you're gonna back out
and you're gonna go out very slowly so there's a couple of videos here you can
look at you can look at the one that I just put up on how to park a vehicle in
a garage and the other video is reversed all parking so those are two videos that
you should look at and both those will help you to get out of the parking space
now just a couple of tips on Tyree to back up out of the parking space know
that the mirrors are the widest part of your vehicle so be very careful when
you're turning and as well when you're backing
if you're gonna back around to the right for example no the front end is going to
go to the left so just as you're backing up keep an eye on that front corner as
you're backing up and you're looking at the back so you want to go slow
because when you go slower the sharp the slower you go the sharper the vehicle
turns any vehicle turns sharper the slower it travels because the tires the
steer tires get more traction go slow as well you are observing and you have lots
of time to observe and you're better more time to control the primary
controls in the vehicle so those are some tips that you can use to back up
and the other thing I would suggest again is to go and get some of those 36
inch one meter tall pylons and just work on some of that in the parking lot you
know a big parking lot that doesn't have any cars and that type of thing around
and then when you get into these tight spaces reversed all parking those types
of things it's going to be easier for you so those are some tips for that ok
mr. goose Dave how much should I slow at an unprotected intersection you
shouldn't slow at all unless there's some sort of traffic situation that
warrants you know that you could potentially materialize into some sort
of dangerous situation then you simply want to cover the brake and there's a
video here on the channel on covering the brake have a look at that as well
and that will help you but for the most part if you're just traveling down a
main road and there's other roads that intersect with that road you don't have
to slow down you simply have to take caution scan well and cover the brake if
there if you're think something and it's going to materialize into a hazard
that's going to cause you to stop Tony is the speed limit in a school zone
automatically below 30 kilometres an hour of being practicing and I know some
school zones have signs but not start stating the speed limit okay so what
we're gonna do Tony we're gonna go over to the PowerPoint presentation here in
one second have a look at the video that I just put up yesterday on school signs
and that will help you with that okay left and right hand turn santosh have a
look at the playlist for turning left and right and that will give you all of
the information you need for turning left and right okay dawn is in Hawaii
awesome I was told to parallel park between two cars is just
mmm excuse me Don that's not normal parallel parking before between two cars
often they don't make you do that usually they just make you parallel park
behind another vehicle or they have a closed area where they make you park off
pylons or something like that so no that's not usual ok Tyriq an I fail for
using my hand when not when you say using your hand are you talking about
putting your hand on the back of the seat and using one hand on the steering
wheel because that's normal you have to that's the way you do it for the
purposes of a road test you have to look out the back window you cannot use a
backup camera for the purposes of the road test Jacque yes if you're driving
in the rain turn your headlights on it's just a safety feature it really just
makes you so much more visible and keeps you safe in terms of raining and there's
also a video on here turning your headlights on I was driving in the rain
and somebody didn't have their lights on I was having a go at them about that so
no you can we cross the solid yellow single line and double line you cannot
cross the dahle double line but you can cross the single line as long as it's
safe to do so so just know that neat what's the fastest you've ever gone in a
car 260k that's faster about a car yes tyree yes so that's what we're talking
about so when you're reversing put your hand on the back of the seat the other
hand on the steering wheel look straight up the back window and that's the way
you backup for the purposes of a road test ok so what we're gonna do here is
I'm just going to go over to the presentation I'm going to go through
that real quick and give you some information on that so we'll get going
here on the presentation and
turn that off here we go okay so passion test first time and some
house cleaning yes this week the buggy broke down I think it's a timing issue
so I have to take the buggy into the shop and get it repaired so
unfortunately the car broke down and we got left on the side of the road and
just an interesting point on that that I wanted to talk about in terms of your
vehicle breaking down if you can get roadside assistance and those types of
things but quite honestly I haven't been left on the side of the road by a
vehicle for almost 20 years and actually didn't you know it wasn't a huge deal
because it broke down on the way home we went to the beach we had a great time
and we were only there for about 20 minutes before one of my friends came
and picked us up when we drove home and everything worked out well so the buggy
broke down this weekend my daughter got pulled over by the police on her bicycle
yesterday we were down at the local their school their elementary school and
my daughter was about a half a block away from me I was going up the steps at
the front of the school and she went rolled around the fence to come back up
and what had happened was as I looked over in the police horn went off and the
sirens are on and he's in the parking lot and he went over to talk to my
daughter and I was like well okay he's gonna come up and give me grief because
I'm so far away from my daughter which I was about a half a block away and my
daughter rides up to me and says oh I got to Tim Horton's to coffee shop cards
and turns out that the police here in Vernon are promoting safety and because
both my kids at helmets on when they were riding their bicycles they got a $2
Tim Hortons carton so they got a free doughnut this morning which they were
pretty happy about smart Sundays as I'm answering questions for students who are
taking road tests for the week coming up and on holiday weekend such as this
weekend which is Labor Day I'm gonna have the smart Sunday on the Monday
because I've done them on the Sunday before the long weekends and not too
many people show up so what we're gonna do is do them on the Mondays this week's
videos are going to be video on autonomous vehicles we're going to do
highways and we're going to do it navigation I've had requests for those
so we're gonna get that stuff done in terms of the videos this week okay

Brent passed his road test in the big 1500 Dodge Ram with some straight pipes
on it he was asking me whether he should take that truck or not for the purposes
of a road test I did I did counsel him maybe think about getting a smaller
sedan but he did and he passed and he was very happy about that so this week I
had a question here about school starts this week so be aware of that and the
different signs the school signs are all pentagon and shape it means that they
look like a gabled roof they have five sides as you can see here in Canada
they're neon green in the United States they might be yellow and thirty
kilometers an hour the thirty kilometer hour zone is between eight and five
there might be some variation in different states and places I did notice
that when I was doing some research that some of the signs were 7:30 to 4:30 in
the state so the times may vary a little bit and there are four school signs
there are two people on the sign and I the way
remember that is when two vowels go walking one does the talking so there's
two people on the school sign which designates a crosswalk in those types of
things so this is the school crosswalk sign it's a regulatory sign this would
be the square one here this one here with the two people on it that's a
crosswalk and then I'll just know here we go okay just move over here
transition there we go and this one here thirty kilometers an hour or twenty
miles an hour when students present along the highway so if there aren't any
students on the highway you don't have to do 30 kilometers an hour 20 miles an
hour if you're in the States so just know that as well

okay alright so everybody's good so we'll just carry on here with the
information so getting your license the first thing
you have to do is get a learner's most places in the world now are going to be
a GLP a graduated licensing program - the first step of getting your graduated
licensing program is to get a learner's and you and to get your learner's you
have to take a knowledge test now just for taking the knowledge test I'm going
to say this that do not read the driver's manual from cover to cover if
you read it from cover to cover oh my god it's boring so what you need to do
is go to the practice driving test questions which are on my website and
there's a few other places on you can just google them in and have a look for
those take the test identify the gaps in your knowledge and then go to the
drivers manual and read those sections that you're having trouble with okay so
some of the stuff that you're going to be tested on assign signals and road
markings you're going to be tested on terminology painted islands right away
and those types of things you're going to be tested on the right away you're
going to be tested on the driving tasks the driving tasks the six components of
the driving task are the driver the vehicle the road traffic light and
weather so those that's the driving tasks those are the six components of
the driving task as I mentioned earlier in the presentation the four components
of a road test are speed and space management observation and communication
doesn't matter what road test it is where you're taking in in the world what
vehicle or what class of license it is all road tests have the four basic
components speed and space management observation and communications so you
have to maintain the posted speed limit or the flow of traffic or the capability
of the vehicle whichever is less space management don't get near other objects
don't get near fixed objects don't get near other road users and you'll be fine
observation make sure you're standing all the time shoulder checks to shoulder
checks for any time you turn the vehicle or move the vehicle laterally and then
communication you have to communicate with other traffic by your lights your
horns your signals appropriate hand gestures as I said all five fingers if
you're waving to other drivers and finally the position of your vehicle
on the roadway all of that is communication requirements of a road
test these are the things that you have to do for the purposes of a road test
slow speed maneuvers so the basic slow speed maneuvers three-point term
verse stall park so essentially you have to back into a parking space three-point
turn two-point reverse turn stall parking and u-turns and all of this
stuff step by step instructions for each one of these slow speed maneuvers is on
the website are on the YouTube channel so have a look at that alright
requirements of a road test holding the vehicle in the lane so of being able to
Center the vehicle in the lane observing and shoulder checking responding to
changing situations so you're looking at the traffic you're reading the traffic
patterns and you're responding accordingly to direct dynamic changing
patterns and your remaining predictable on the roadway and as I said again and
again when in doubt stop if the situation just gets out of hand and you
can't control it simply stop okay emergency vehicles are the kind of the
proverbial fly in the ointment on a road test know that if there is an emergency
vehicle that you have to bring your vehicle to a stop so know that for the
purposes of Road test okay abilities that you have to demonstrate abilities
and techniques that you have to demonstrate for the purposes of a road
test you have to have two hands in the steering wheel at all times you have to
stop in traffic so that you can see the tires of the vehicle in front making
clear contact with the pavement you have to stop at the correct position at stop
sign the intersections there's three stopping positions at the stop line
before the crosswalk and if there isn't a stop line or a crosswalk line then
stop where the two roads meet alright and have a look at the video here on the
YouTube channel as well amber lights they're gonna be a bit of you know do I
go do I stop now just know that no vehicle will stop in its own length so
if you're farther back than one vehicle length and you're gonna have to bring
the vehicle to a stop and the bigger the vehicle that may be an aggressive stop
so just know that you're gonna have to know who has the right-of-way it
controlled and uncontrolled intersections and you're gonna have to
know right-of-way okay so you can take driving lessons if you do not take
driving lessons and just rely on the information that I've provided here on
the YouTube channel I do strongly encourage you 7 to 10 days before you
road test to hire a local driving school and get them to do a mock road test so
do do a mock road test if you're not doing
driving lessons with a local driving school and then practice practice
practice and the more practice you can get the better you're going to be on
your road tests because you need to practice as much as possible practice in
different driving environments and practice in different vehicles okay but
once you get near your road test once you get two or three weeks out from your
road test just stay in the same vehicle don't move around between vehicles once
you get to your road test okay parallel parking I've had several students say
you know I failed a road test because I hit the curb with one a parallel park if
you nudge or bump the curb and you know that you did and you just pull ahead and
adjust you're not gonna fail your road test however you hit that curb hard
enough that the body of the vehicle rocks on the chassis then yes you're
going to fail or if you drop push the wheel up over the over the curb yes
you're gonna fail your road test all right the good the bad and the ugly
sometimes bad drivers pass and sometimes good drivers fail sometimes everything
just goes all right or sometimes things can just go all wrong and just know that
that you may not be successful on a road test because of that and know that
driving examiner's are human as well okay the fundamentals learn the basics
of driving get as much practice as you can and again luck favors the prepared
so know that the more you practice the better you're going to be master the
basic skills that prepare for the opportunity and as I said again and
again all you have to do is take away the driver examiners right to fail you
on road testing get a good night's sleep bring your documentation bring glasses
and bring your money and yes I know there's a few lucky ones out there that
the road test doesn't cost some cost money because there's an organization
that you're involved with that's paying for that but for the most part you have
to bring money and there need to pay for the road tests make sure when you go
into the road test center if there's designated parking for license or
examinees people who are taking a road test make sure you back into the parking
stall that way you're not going to be nervous and trying back out of the
parking space into a busy parking lot when you start your road test so make
sure that you back into the parking space and for the purposes of your road
test keep going until they tell you to stop do not
stop and get all flustered by a mistake simply move on and get on with the road
test and simply all you have to do is take away the jammers right to fail you
nothing more nothing less alright and finally good luck on your
road test so we'll just head back here the comments have a look ok here we go

ok Nathaniel is it legal in Massachusetts to take a left turn when
you're in an intersection after inching out while the light was Green so even if
it turns red it's legal okay Nathaniel if you're in the
intersection you get caught in the intersection on the left-hand turn you
own that intersection you have to wait until it is clear and safe to go and
then you can proceed know that you have to you have to wait until the traffic
clears you can make sure that they're stopped before you inch out there and
start commit to your left-hand turn and know that you own the intersection do
not go until it is absolutely safe because if there's a passenger in that
vehicle and they get t-boned unfortunately they're probably not going
to survive that impact so know that that t-bone crashes are probably one of the
most dangerous crashes now in terms of traffic safety and those types of things
okay so just know that okay Isabella the great on a green light turning right is
it safer to pause or can you just go you have to scan as you're coming up to the
intersection Isabella and if it is green and the way is clear you can go but just
remember green does not necessarily just mean go green means you can go if the
way is clear okay you don't necessarily have the right-of-way
remember the right-of-way is given it's not taken so unless somebody gives you
the right-of-way you don't have the right-of-way so just keep that in mind
when your turn okay all right okay
I'm sweet 15 I'm in New York it happened fast okay let's see I'm started in the

now for those of you haven't been here before Sam is with Ruki auto driving
school in the Bronx in New York so for anybody in New York City who's taking

need to have your left hand on the back of the seat in there in Massachusetts
you need to be looking out the back window and you need to be looking out
the back window the entire time that you're backing up the vehicle okay
Raquel for parallel parking is it better to make a complete turn or just one full
turn some bids say just one full turn okay
Raquel you need to turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or the
left
all right so you need to turn this room all the right and then parallel park
okay
and I don't know where you can do u-turns in Alberta as part of Canada it
is not is not part of the driving culture to do u-turns okay so which
situation would you use your I being jock anytime you're on a dark road at
night you're gonna use your eye beams that there under the vehicles if you're
tired I don't recommend using high beams at night because often times you forget
to turn them down when you're driving at night so don't do that okay so I think
unless anybody has more questions we're gonna leave it there my kids are getting
out of unruly as you probably noticed them walking around in the background
there so we'll leave it there if you have any comments or questions I'll hang

comments as I said it's back to school week so know that all the school zones
pay attention to those pay attention to school zone signs that are going to be
in for most of the day okay and if you do speed on a road test in a school zone
that's an automatic fail so don't do that all right okay Andrew you are most
