My name is Luisray.

This is my Sign-name.

I'm from Arizona

I just recently moved to Portland

I'm involved with Echo Theater

We've been rehearsing for one month to put on a show.

I really enjoy the show. It's fun!

The process is new for me.

The ropes, pulley's and harnesses so performers can jump and fly in the air.

It's a new experience I've never tried before.

It's different from stage theater.

This is more physical theater immersion.

Myles [founder of CymaSpace] has come to help with the lights

to integrate both Deaf and hearing

by creating a more visual theater show.

The goal is purely visual.

So i'm performing but there is no Sign language or talking

It's purely movement with lights and music added.

Really, the whole show is great!

What I enjoy is that this is something anyone can become involved with.

Whether Deaf or hearing or different abilities, all can be involved in this show.

Everyone good? Yes thank you.

The interpreters are really good.

We have two that show up. One interpreter will be for Myles and one for me.

They explain things and what we are doing which provides access.

They explain the director's feedback, what the team wants, convey discussions, it's a lot!

We really must have the interpreters, because without them communication would fail.

So we have wonderful and really skilled interpreters, who can sign very clearly every specific thing.

It's been wonderful, I couldn't ask for more!

Thank you so much.

Help! Google is not using the correct title tags or meta descriptions - Duration: 2:56.

Hello, this is John Locke, and today we're answering a viewer question from Reddit.

The question goes like this, "We've written our title tags and our meta descriptions for

all the pages on our site, but one thing that we're noticing is that Google seems to not

be showing our default title tags or meta descriptions.

They are showing completely different title tags.

These are not the title tags we've written.

They were fine a couple of weeks ago, they were exactly what we wrote, but now we're

seeing different titles and descriptions when we look at the search engine results pages.

What's going on?"

Okay so, what's going on is Google is rewriting your titles and descriptions.

Google started dong this probably about a year ago.

But they do this quite often to fit different search queries.

So if somebody searches for a particular search and they are not seeing the exact thing in

your title tag (that fits the query), they can take stuff from somewhere else in the

page if they think that it's going to fit the search query better.

So in other words, if they see a segment of text in your page that fits the searcher's

search query better, then that will sometimes become the meta description.

Or if Google thinks that it can rewrite your title tag in way that it fits THAT particular

search phrase better, then they will do that.

So I think that's part of their machine learning, what they call RankBrain internally.

The algorithm is trying to test things and see what the titles and descriptions are for

the end users, the people who are searching.

So this is quite common.

I actually see this happen with one of the most popular pages on my own website, it happens

quite a lot.

Where depending on how you search for this thing, it will show different meta descriptions

or title tags.

So it's quite common, you're not losing your mind.

This happens.

Now, when it comes to writing titles and descriptions, follow best practices.

Try and write the best title tag that you can, and the best meta description you can.

But if you're seeing Google use something else, it's no big deal.

My name is John Locke.

My business is Lockedown Design & SEO.

We help industrial and manufacturing companies with SEO, so they get more RFQs.

We're publishing new content every week, os if you want to subscribe, go ahead.

We'll be here.

Until next time, peace.

Kumbh Mela or Kumbha Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith I Kumbh Mela 2019 - Duration: 3:04.

The origin of Kumbh Mela was transcribed by the 8th-century philosopher Shankara

The founding myth of the Kumbh Mela points out to the Puranas (compilation of ancient legends).

It recounts how Gods and demons fought over the sacred pitcher (Kumbh) of Amrit (nectar of immortality) called the Ratna of Samudra Manthan.

It is widely believed that Lord Vishnu (disguised as the enchantress 'Mohini') whisked the Kumbh out of the grasp of the covetous demons who had tried to claim it.

As he took it heavenwards, a few drops of the precious nectar fell on the four sacred site we know as Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik and Prayag.

The flight and the following pursuit is said to have lasted twelve divine days which is equivalent to twelve human years

and therefore, the Mela is celebrated every twelve years, staggered at each of the four sacred sites in this cycle.

The corresponding rivers are believed to have turned into Amrit at the cosmic moment,

giving pilgrims the chance to bathe in the essence of purity, auspiciousness, and immortality.

Kumbh is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus

It became a matter of research amongst scholars when the legend of Kumbh began attracting millions of pilgrims from across the world.

However, it is an established fact that Prayag has been the center stage of Kumbh

and an event of such grand scale does not culminate in one day but gradually develops over a period of time.

The term 'Kumbh' comes from the root 'kumbhak' (the sacred pitcher of elixir of immortality).

There is a mention of 'Kumbh' and the bathing ritual associated with it in the Rig Veda (verse 10.89.7).

It speaks of the benefits of bathing at sangam during this period, elimination of negative influences and rejuvenation of mind and soul.

Prayers for the 'Kumbh' are also expressed in Atharva Veda and Yajur Veda.

Historic evidence points towards the rule of King Harshvardhana (c.590-647 AD), as the time when Kumbh Mela got widespread recognition across geographies.

Famous traveler Hsuan Tsang has prominently mentioned the grandeur of Kumbh Mela in his travelogue.

The traveler's account also summarizes King Harsh's charities at the confluence of holy rivers where he gave gifts and donations to the scholars and sanyasis.

King Harsh used to hold a great quinquennial assembly on the sands of the holy confluence at Prayag and would distribute all his possessions.

Moreover, the historical texts also point towards evidence that Adi Shankaracharya established 10 Akharas, Ardha Kumbh and Kumbh Mela.

The Kumbh Mela at Prayag is widely considered as the most significant among all the Kumbh festivals held at other locations.

It is considered as the source of light and knowledge.

It is believed that Prajapati Bramha performed Ashvamedha Yajna at Dashashvamedha Ghat situated at the confluence of the .

Ganga and Yamuna and created the universe due to which it is the most famous and significant among all other Kumbh festivals

Kumbh is a symbol of peace and harmony amongst all human beings.

The Kumbh Mela has been inscribed on the list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO in 2017.

This reflects the significance of Kumbh worldwide. Kumbh at Prayagraj encapsulates the science of astronomy, astrology, spirituality,

ritualistic traditions, social and cultural customs and practices making it extremely rich in knowledge.

Kumbh also signifies the coming together of people from various cultures from all across the world

and participating in the spectacle that is the largest peaceful congregation of humanity.

Participating in the ritual of the holy bath at the Ghats is an honor and a privilege.

The story of Samudra Manthan, one of the best-known episodes in the Hindu mythology,

narrated in the Bhagvad Purana states that the sacred alignments of celestial bodies directly relate to the Kumbh festival.

It took 12 divine days to carry the Amrit to the heavens. As one divine day of Gods is equivalent to one year of the humans,

the journey to the heavens symbolizes 12 years in human terms.

That is why every twelfth year when Jupiter enters the Aries constellation on the day of the new moon in the month of Magh,

the Kumbh festival is organized. Mythological studies suggest that the Kumbh festival and the Ganga are related to each other.

The Ganga flows in Prayagraj but Godavari of Nasik is also called the Ganga or the Gomti Ganga.

Similarly, the Shipra (in Ujjain) is recognized as the north branch, the Ganga of Kashi.

From that place onwards, Shipra becomes the east branch where it assimilates with the Ganga.

talk about the Libra ascendant let's talk about what is Libra sign Libra is a

sign ruled by penis so it has all the Venetian qualities the sign of Libra is

an air element science so it is intelligent and it likes to be social

the Libra sign is a cardinal sign which is the gain the houses in a natural

horoscope it also holds the energy of the seventh house in the natural

horoscope so it has all the seventh house qualities of diplomacy business

Commerce dealing with other people these are the very profound features are very

profound characteristics of Libra these people will rally the support if they

find the cause worth if they believe in something they will use their social

contacts social abilities to rally the support for that cause they are very

very cautious about the social issues these guys cannot tolerate injustice its

balance okay so this is Libra sign and what is happening in ascendant what is

ascended ascendant is the sign arising on the eastern horizon we have 24 hours

we have 12 rushes so each Rashi rules the eastern horizon or is at the eastern

horizon for two hours every day so we have all the ascendance every day

is just a matter of your own Karma's which time you pick to get your sin-debt

now you have chosen to get libras in it now what we are going to do we are going

to put this 7th sign and put this into your first house houses are fixed now we

are giving them the environment now we are giving them the environment to

manifest we all we all know about the first house qualities like it is your

body personality health and so many other things it is also your first house

that durometer corn house now we have the Libra sign into the first house okay

we have discussed this for all the six rushes now we are discussing the seventh

Rashi the liberal sign the first thing which comes to my mind when I think of

Libra ascendant is a balance these people are extremely balanced let's talk

about the first house when you have the sign of Libra in the first house we have

discussed already about what Libra is all about but the sign of Libra in your

ascendant makes you attractive makes you very sweet-natured will make you very

attractive did I say attractive okay so these

people aren't very diplomatic as well what is a Libra sign Libra sign is all

about dealing with others so it is all about the diplomacy business so when you

have this rush in the first house you become very diplomatic

you become very attractive you become very business minded you bring balance

into every sphere of your life why because if you observe all the houses it

will have the energy of the house seven places away from each like first house

will have the energy of the seventh house second will have eight third will

have nine and so on and so forth till the 12th house having an energy of Virgo

or the sixth house and the sixth house has the energy of the

to us even if it is not making sense at the end of this video you will learn

what we are talking about okay so in the first house we have the energy of Libra

sign in the second house we have the energy of the Scorpio what is called B

we all know Scorpio holds the energy of the eighth house eighth house is all

about ups and downs and the things hidden things buried underground all

these can be seen from the eighth house now we have the energy of the eighth

Rashi into the second house what is second how second house is the house of

your speech how you speak is about your immediate relationships now you're born

in the first house love you're moving to your close environment your family your

childhood friends your immediate environment from the ascendant okay so

you your childhood early childhood can also be seen from the second house

second house is also about the finance and the accumulated wealth the second

house has the energy of Scorpio Scorpio is an intense energies so these people

are very proud of their family of origin they have a very intense belonging to

their family origin okay this can also be seen from the second house having the

Scorpio energy in the third house we have the energy of Sagittarius

Sagittarius is a sign the ruled by Jupiter which is all about the

spirituality religion is about the higher beliefs and all about the ninth

house significations about travel and all that stuff now we are bringing in

the energy of the nine thousand a Sagittarius into the third house what is

third house third house is the house of your courage third house is the house of

your siblings is about your hobbies about yet about the things which you

love to do and now you have the energy of Sagittarius into the third house so

these people will always talk about the inspiring things when it comes to their

siblings communication with the siblings is very positive and is mostly around

the religion and spirituality in the fourth house we have the energy of

Capricorn Saturn what is a Capricorn Capricorn is a

stubborn workaholic an unstoppable sign but fourth house is a very private and a

very nurturing house so what it shows is sometimes fourth house is also about

your mother and your initial education which mother

gives you so these people might have a very disciplined and a strict mother we

can also see that this is a sign of Saturn and earth into the fourth house

the darkest house the nether house the house below our feet and now you have

the Capricorn and regime two this into the fourth house so these guys have a

very discipline and sometimes a very strict mother they feel it in the

childhood but it is all for their good because the fifth house is also ruled by

Saturn fifth house is also ruled by Saturn and fifth house has the energy of

Aquarius what is an Aquarius sign Aquarius is a very scientific sight

Aquarius is all about the eleventh house things about larger organizations we

always talk about the Age of Aquarius which is what the age of information so

eleventh house or Aquarius is all about the information so they are very

scientific because as signed ruled by Saturn into the air

element so it is very very scientific and now it comes into the fifth house

what is fifth our fifth house is about your creative abilities performing arts

cinema it is a bhavat bhavam for the third

house that is third from the told so it becomes like a house for your hobbies

and things which you love to do and now you have the eleventh house friendly

energy into the fifth house so what it shows is these people are very friendly

with their lovers as well as their children

Aquarius also holds the significations of the 11th house so these guys are

benefited from the Performing Arts and creative fields their lagna is also

ruled by Venus which is all about the beauty and the fifth house has a

friendly air element sign ruled by Saturn so this is very good combination

for artists in the sixth house these guys have the energy of Pisces sixth

house is the house of eight disease and enemies but more so sixth house is also

the house of your daily routine is also about the your job if you are into the

repetitive job like nine-to-five job the sixth house is also more about job and

when you have the energy of Jupiter into the sixth house the twelfth house that

is the emotional water element sign into the sixth house what it shows is why

because the first house we have the energy of Libra and one of the

significant of Libra is diplomacy dealing with others so these people are

very tactful in dealing with others more so these people have the third house

which is the house of courage is ruled by a fiery Sagittarius sign okay so

these people have very less enemies okay let us move on to the seventh house

seventh house has the energy of the first house first house has the energy

of the seventh house seventh house has the energy of the first house seventh

house is all about the business marriage relationships dealing with others

diplomacy sexual relations long term sexual relations marriage all these can

be seen from the seventh house and now we have the energy of the Aries the

Marshall thing Mars what is Mars Mars is like a soldier and

what what is the what is the strength of the soldier soldier is very dedicated

soldier is very disciplined soldier sometimes is aggressive and fierce but

on a negative side on a positive side soldier always obeys the order soldier

is very dedicated to its motherland soldier is disciplined so these guys

they not only have the order into their first house they have balance into the

seventh house as well so these people have the Aries energy into the seventh

house so these people get a partner who are disciplined and dedicated only the

giving side it is the sign of Mars so it can be sometimes harsh and can be the in

you but it also has the positive side of the loyalty dedication and discipline we

should not ignore that in the 8th house we have the energy of the Taurus Taurus

is ruled by Venus what ascendant is also ruling the Venus now the first house and

the eighth house are ruled by Venus what is eighth house eighth house is all

about the ups and downs unstability the transformation death and rebirth and

transformation but now we have the fixed or element sign in two

the eight house it kind of stabilizes the ups and downs in their life see how

the things are bringing me balance for the Libra ascendant once you have the

seventh rush in the first house you have balance in all other houses that is the

power of the ascendant into the ninth house they have the energy of Gemini

Gemini is an air element sign ruled by mercury Mercury's all about looking for

information mercury is information and the Gemini

mercury it is not the work of mercury what virgo is a different kind of energy

and mercury is a very very young energetic and very enthusiastic energy

which is always looking for hundred of hundred things to understand ok and now

it is into a night house ninth house is all about the spirituality is all about

the religion it is also about the religious things and now you have this

young mercury into the ninth house so these people will always look for the

information regarding their spiritual practices regarding their religion and

once they are convinced that they will move on these are not the virgo energies

if it would happen Virgo they will go deep into one of the one of their

beliefs and they will bring out some organized information out of it but

these guys are just interested into the information and more so sharing that

information with the rest of the world in the tenth house these guys have the

energy of cancer cancer is a rule by mood and what is the first quality of

booth it always changes throughout the mood throughout the picture it

it's on changing from the day one from the new mode to full moon to Full Moon

to New Moon it keeps on changing so change is constant for moon and now

you have this fluctuating energy into your 10th house I won't say unstable

Korea but their timing of work can be very flexible like these guys can be

working in a night shift or these guys can be freelancer who work at their own

pace or who they are or the freelancer who work at their own pace and time they

have a veer timing for work in the 11th house these guys have the energy of Leo

Leo is a sign ruled by son Leo is a fixed sign so these guys get very loyal

friends these guys have a very loyal networking connections they have very

loyal and royal it can be royal because it is the sign of son so they have royal

and loyal networking connections and friendships in the 12th house they have

the energy of the virgo sign in the second house second house is the house

immediate to the first house 12th house is also the house next to the first

house but for 12th house the ascendant has to travel all the way along the 12

house so the 12th house is the farthest from the ascendant so 12th house is all

about the foreign things 12th house is also about long-distance journeys 3rd

house is also journeys like a short distance ninth house is also journeys

long-distance and 12th house are the longest journey

did I say longest it can be the journey the astral journey the journey beyond

this life and so on so the 12th house is the house of

dissolution and now you have the virgo sign as an environment into the 12th

house for libras in it so these guys have the Mercurian energy into the 12th

house so these guys always analyze and they always organize the things related

to spirituality they will always have some organized information about the

spirituality or religion or whatever their beliefs are okay twelve house is

also the house of bad pleasures and now they have the energy of a critical Virgo

into the into the twelfth house yes this was Libra ascended as much as I could

hold grasp and share with you guys if you are new to my channel please

consider subscribing share this video with your friends and family hit that

How to Remove, Restore or Pick a Password to a Microsoft Office Document 📝🔑🖥️ - Duration: 8:18.

Hello everybody!

In this video I'll show you what to do if you set a password for an office document

and forgot it.

You will see several free applications to help you remember

the password.

Protecting an important document with a password is certainly a good idea - but only as long

as you remember it.

How can you open it when you can't remember the password?

In this situation, you don't seem to have many choices except hacking.

There are many programs that can pick the password - both free and commercial.

The choice depends largely on the complexity of the password and the version of Microsoft

Office being used.

Encryption in different versions of MS Office Microsoft Office 2007 makes use of 128-bit

AES encryption and hacking this kind of key is quite a challenge.

Provided that the password is reliable enough, it can be very difficult to crack.

In such cases, a commercial utility or a password recovery service could be the best choice.

Talking of other versions: Beginning with MS Office 95 and to Microsoft

Office 2000 the key length varies from 16 to 40 bit, and instant decryption is available

for such documents.

In Office XP and Office 2003 the key length is still 40-bit, but Microsoft adds a special

algorithm to enable quick decryption depending on the algorithm applied by the user.

On the other hand, Office 2007 has AES with the hash function SHA-1, so password recovery

will be more difficult.

Office 2013 still uses AES-128, but the hash algorithm has been upgraded to SHA-2, and

it employs SHA-512 by default - which makes password recovery very troublesome.

Using a long password in Microsoft Office 95 is hardly effective because its encryption

algorithm is too vulnerable.

On the contrary, Office 2013 offers more protection for files with weak passwords by using more

powerful hashing and encryption algorithms.

Let's have a look at several programs that might help you in picking a password to a

document.

If you are dealing with a document created in an older version of Microsoft Office, you

have very good chances of success, but if you are trying to hack the password for files

generated in newer versions of the Office package, that's "mission impossible."

1.

Free Word and Excel Password Recovery Wizard

This program tries to unlock files using either a dictionary or a brute-force attack (just

as the majority of tools on this list).

If you try to use it with a newer Microsoft Office file, you are going to see an error.

It supports Office versions from 95 to 2003.

You can configure settings for both types of attacks.

The dictionary attack involves varied size approach with an option to use user-defined

wordlist, while the brute-force attack uses variable password length approach and options

with adjustable sets of symbols.

For working with newer Office documents, it's recommended to use commercial products.

Password-Find - an online service for removing and recovering passwords for documents created

in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

It is guaranteed to remove password protection from any documents saved in an older format

of MS Office 97-2003.

It is very effective in working with documents saved in a new format.

Upload the document and choose between removing a password or finding it - the first option

is recommended.

When the process is over, you'll be suggested to download the document, view it online or

delete it, but you need to buy a license key if you want to download the full version of

the document.

2.

Crackit!

This is a very old password breaker originally developed for Windows 95.

Nevertheless, it works fine on Windows 10 without installation.

It uses a basic approach for hacking, that includes only brute-force attack with limited

dictionaries.

It only works with old Microsoft Word and Excel files (before the 2003 version).

3.

Word Password Recovery Master Word Password Recovery Master — another

useful free tool to help you hack or recover a password.

It supports a wide range of Microsoft Office versions.

However, during the test it failed to recover or remove basic passwords created with Office

2010.

The program also warns you that it doesn't support any user-type encryption, and only

works with standard Microsoft Office options up to Office 2007 though the developer claims

support for 2013 version too.

http://www.rixler.com/ru/word_password_recovery.htm

4.

Elcomsoft Advanced Office Password Recovery - commercial

Elcomsoft Advanced Office Password Recovery is a powerful professional tool, but a commercial

one, unfortunately.

The program has a wide range of functions and can work with user dictionaries, user-defined

sets of symbols and optional length for variable passwords.

It supports all versions of Microsoft Office.

https://www.elcomsoft.ru/aopr.html

All programs like that are based on the exhaustive method of guessing the symbols, so if you

remember the password length and at least the first or the last symbol or letter, it

will make hacking the password much easier; on the contrary, if you used a long password

with varying symbols, hacking such password will take a lot of time, and success is not

at all guaranteed.

5.

iSumsoft Office Password Refixer Still, you can try recovering a simple password

with a tool that supports all versions of Microsoft Word.

iSumsoft Office Password Refixer

This program can recover a password consisting of three symbols for free, and if the password

is longer, you'll have to pay for the full version.

To begin with, let's set a simple password, for example, "doc", and then try recovering

it with this tool.

The interface is available in English only, but it's pretty easy to understand even

without translation.

Select recovery type, and configure search settings here.

Look at the options: what letters - small or capital - were used in the password, are

there any digits, special symbols, spaces etc - and check the boxes if your answer is

positive.

In the other tabs you can select the number of symbols in the password, the use of dictionaries,

when to save the process, determine its priority, decide if you want to hide the program window

to the system tray and so on.

In the line "mask" type the symbols in the password which you know, and then press

"Start" to begin picking the password.

As you can see, we managed to recover a simple password within a few minutes.

Conclusions To hack a file created in one of the older

versions of MS Office, even a free utility will do, with decryption almost guaranteed.

Unfortunately, documents encrypted in newer versions can't be hacked even with commercial

tools - unless the password was very simple.

So the final choice of which utility to use is always up to you.

That is all for now.

Thank you for watching.

Good luck.

Suarez hints that Arsenal still need Carrasco or Nkunku - Duration: 3:27.

Arsenal's deadline day signing Denis Suarez has named his best position to highlight why Unai Emery still wants to see an out-and-out winger join the Gunners

Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco have both been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Paris Saint-Germain youngster Christopher Nkunku also named as a target

While the 21-year-old can play out wide he is apparently seen as a long-term successor to Aaron Ramsey who will leave north London in the summer

The Frenchman is similar to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in that respect.  However both Carrasco and Perisic specialise in taking on opponents down the flanks, and can stretch the play or run inside when the opportunity presents itself

In his first interview after moving to Arsenal, Suarez explained how he saw himself as more of a midfielder than a winger, with the Gunners having previously hoped to complete two loan signings before the close of the January transfer window

"The person I look up to most in the world of football is Andres Iniesta," said the 25-year-old

"He has always been my idol ever since I was young.  "As well as the fact he plays in a similar position to me

"  Suarez is a very good crosser of the ball, and should add a new threat to the Arsenal attack with his deliveries into the box, but he is more of a playmaker that drifts out wide than a proper winger like Carrasco and Perisic

Emery already has options in a similar mould to his new signing in Alex Iwobi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil

All three are midfielders who can play on the winger, along with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock

Even Aaron Ramsey has been deployed in this role before.  None of them are quite as comfortable running the ball down the byline, nor is Suarez that kind of player

He prefers to cross from deeper positions, which is why the club have been in discussions with Carrasco and Perisic

Nkunku is capable of playing through the middle or taking players on out wide. It remains to be seen whether a deal can be done in January

The issue may be kicked down the road until the summer unless Raul Sanllehi and the recruitment team can find a breakthrough in the final hours of deadline day

Will a More Powerful Supreme Court Help or Hurt America? - Duration: 28:02.

President Donald Trump will likely nominate a third Supreme Court justice.

How will Democrats react to the total loss of liberal dominance on the Supreme Court?

I think that it behooves the liberals and the Democrats to renew their ties to the American

people

The nation is deeply divided.

How did the man whose case set the precedent for Second Amendment rights face school shooting

victims' families?

I'd won this case and a couple of years later you have the Sandy Hook massacre.

And I had to go have a talk with the man in the mirror and say was this your fault?

For most of American history the Supreme Court was an afterthought.

How did the Supreme Court become supreme and come to dominate the American political system?

And the problem is over the decades, power in Washington, federal power, has grown.

And that's why the importance of the Supreme Court has grown.

Welcome to "Zooming In," I am Simone Gao.

In this edition we look at the Supreme Court.

All Americans are affected by decisions made by the Supreme Court.

Since the end of World War II, these rulings have changed how state legislatures draw congressional

districts, stripped legal protections from unborn children, and stopped school children

from praying before classes begin.

The Founding Fathers created each of the three branches of the federal government in the

first three articles of the Constitution.

Because the legislative branch was created in Article One, legal scholars agree that

Congress is to have primacy in the government.

Article Two is the executive branch, and Article Three is the judicial branch, which includes

the Supreme Court.

In this edition of "Zooming In," we examine how this third branch of government became

so powerful and what it means to national politics when a liberal Court transitions

into a conservative Court.

We go behind-the-scenes with participants who share their experiences in Supreme Court

cases.

The Second Amendment states that Congress shall not infringe on the right to keep and

bear arms.

But for Dick Heller and millions of Americans who wanted to own a gun, it was a different

story.

Mr. Heller was a special police officer guarding the Supreme Court back in the '90s.

Every day at the end of his shift, he would turn in his pistol at the armory and ride

his bike home through increasingly dangerous neighborhoods--unarmed.

It did not go unnoticed by the justices that one of the people guarding them with a government-issued

firearm was the litigant.

And when I thought about it, a light bulb came on one day.

And it occurred to me they give me a gun, but I can't have a gun.

I can protect them, but I cannot protect myself.

Heller applied for a one-year license for a handgun he wished to keep at home, but his

application was denied.

He then sued the District of Columbia for violating the Second Amendment.

During the next 20 years, he took his case all the way up to the Supreme Court.

On June 26, 2008, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Heller's individual right to bear

arms.

Justice Antonin Scalia delivered the opinion for the 5-4 majority.

Justice Scalia: Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society

where our standing army is the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces provide

personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem.

That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this

Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct.

A large portion of the American public had waited decades for this moment.

Heller told me his most memorable moment before the high court hearing.

the story that I really like to tell is "the people" story because the night before the

hearing, it was very cold in March, and I went to—I only lived a block away, so I

pulled up on my bicycle and said, "Hey, y'all, what's happening here?

Why is everybody sleeping on the sidewalk?"

An aw-shucks kind of thing.

And nobody knew.

Nobody recognized me.

And it was cold, so I talked to a lot of people, and there was over 50 people sleeping on the

sidewalk, so I said, "It's getting cold, the sun's going down."

I went to the drug store and bought two big 200-piece cough drop bags.

So I had 400 cough drops.

And then I went back and started at the head of the line, the sun had gone down by now,

and gave everybody a handful of cough drops.

And I said, "Here, you're going to need these."

And everybody was saying, man, that dude's nice.

Who was that?

You know, nobody.

So the next morning I'm in a coat and tie, and I go down the line and shake everybody's

hands and they suddenly recognize me.

Oh, no.

Oh, no, you didn't.

Oh, yes, I did.

And they got a kick out of that because I was out there meeting the people because we

were all kind of going in together to hear this case.

I was just a normal people.

Right.

They're not allowed in the Supreme Court, right?

They're outside waiting?

They had to wait outside because so many people wanted to get in that they were sleeping on

the sidewalk to be the first to enter the Court.

The Court takes about 125, I think.

How many of them were there?

Hundreds.

And they were swapping them in after the courtroom packed, then they would swap standing-room

only 20 at a time for about 10 minutes.

A year after he won his case, Dick Heller realized he had started a tidal wave.

And it was Second Amendment Foundation, Alan Gottlieb, I think, made the statement.

It should've been him.

He said since Dick Heller case was heard and decided, he said there have been over 75 additional

gun cases one year later that have hit the courts challenging the local restrictions.

I'm sitting on the front row, and my mouth falls open because it was just—all I knew

was me and my little bubble, right, in a case here and a case there and then 75.

And then a couple of years later, it was announced that there were over 300.

I'm going, to myself, "Oh my gosh, we have started a tidal wave."

So what you can see is the power of the Supreme Court to properly interpret the Constitution

has created significant challenges to the number of circuit courts and cities and states

that just absolutely detest our Constitution and the Second Amendment most of all.

So that's the power they have because we live by laws.

Four years later, Heller got hit by another story.

On December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children

between six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members.

Before driving to the school, he shot and killed his mother at their Newtown home.

As first responders arrived at the school, Lanza committed suicide by shooting himself.

Don't get me crying now.

This really touches my heart.

But in the case of Sandy Hook, I mean, I'd won this case and a couple of years later

you have the Sandy Hook massacre.

And I had to go have a talk with the man in the mirror and say was this your fault?

And I finally figured out, no, it wasn't my fault.

What we did, and the Scalia decision, was give everyone the option to protect themselves.

And the parents and the school board in Sandy Hook had no reason to believe that they would

ever need security or armed people on their elementary school campus.

So they made a financial decision by making no decision, not knowing about it.

Had they ever thought through the previous school shootings, they might have said, gee,

maybe we ought to protect our school.

And after the Heller decision, they had the right, the specific enumerated, articulated

right to do that.

And they chose not to.

So safety is a choice.

After the school shooting, many victims' family members supported tighter gun control

restrictions over Second Amendment rights.

They saw it as a solution to prevent this tragedy from happening again.

What would you say to them?

Interesting in that President Obama said when they bring a knife, we bring a gun.

Well, when someone brings a gun and you are in high school and you have a knife or a baseball

bat or nothing, you have a right to be stupid.

Sandy Hook, San Bernardino, the Parkland high school, and the Orlando nightclub shootings,

in all those cases, they were, of course, all gun-free zones.

And why would a criminal, a killer, want to have a bad day at the office and face gunfire?

So they're going to pick gun-free zones.

The Orlando nightclub case, if there was anyone that was concealed carry, they were outside

in the parking lot because they were not allowed inside under Florida law because you cannot

conceal carry in Florida in an alcohol-serving establishment.

So wherever--if you look at the FBI statistics, they have a table in their crime statistics

annually called Table 8, and what you can do is you can see, as gun ownership goes up,

crime goes down on a macro level, a national level, or a municipality county-city level,

that's just the dynamics of humans.

Are you against background checks?

All it does is slow people down and puts a burden on the law-abiding citizens.

We submit to background checks because we're law-abiding.

What criminal wants a background check?

They don't go into a gun store to buy a gun.

Do they have guns?

Yes.

Where do they come from?

My, my.

All over the place.

So a background check just doesn't do much.

All it does is slows people down a little bit.

Now, what you really should have is, when they go for the background check in the gun

store and they fail, then a net should drop down and hold them until the police come.

Now that's a pretty good system maybe.

As a police officer, do you think the general public's owning guns makes your job easier

or harder or perhaps more dangerous?

A well-armed citizenry is a very polite and safe society because no one knows who is armed

if somebody gets out of line.

Coming up: Has the Supreme Court grown beyond what the framers had intended?

The federal government is often described as a complex system of checks and balances

among three co-equal branches of government.

Another way of looking at it is to see the federal government as four deliberative bodies

stacked as a pyramid.

At the bottom is the House of Representatives.

It is the most powerful body with 435 members.

It is the most diffuse body, but its power is that in matters of impeachment, war, taxes

and spending, the House has the initiative.

The second body is the Senate with 100 members.

Its sole power is the ability to say no to bills and motions passed by the House and

to approve presidential appointments and treaties.

There is no fixed number of justices, but by tradition there have been nine justices

on the Court.

The framers gave the Court no initiative authority.

It can only act if someone petitions it to act.

However, the Court has the power to say no to any action taken by the president, the

Congress, and the states.

At the top of the pyramid is the president, who has both the initiative and the power

to say no to Congress through his veto.

This model became broken when judges took it upon themselves to create new laws on their

own.

This seizure of initiative is the innovation that disrupted the constitutional system created

by the framers because there is virtually no check for a power the framers never anticipated.

Ilya Shapiro is the director of the Robert A. Levy Center for Constitutional Studies

at the Cato Institute.

I spoke with him about the changing role of the Supreme Court.

Mr. Shapiro, what was the original purpose of the Supreme Court and has its role today

grown beyond what the framers intended?

Well, the Supreme Court or the judiciary in general is supposed to check the other branches.

So if Congress passes a law that goes beyond its Constitutional authority, the Supreme

Court or lower federal courts are supposed to strike it down.

If the president or an executive agency does something that's beyond their statutory

authority, the courts are supposed to step in.

And the problem is over the decades, power in Washington, federal power, has grown.

And that's why the importance of the Supreme Court has grown.

And so now we have sort of gotten used to the idea that every June at the end of term,

the Supreme Court rules on three or four or half a dozen of the most important political

issues in the country.

And you think about it in the last decade, everything from health care, immigration,

racial preferences, abortion, political gerrymandering, campaign finance, voting rights, you name

it, a big political controversy, the Supreme Court is involved.

And it's not because the Supreme Court is trying to get involved and trying to earn

a higher profile or gain more power.

It's just a function of a system that has concentrated power in Washington.

And in a large and diverse country, you're going to have differences in opinion that

ultimately end up resolved by the Supreme Court.

I think, ultimately, the way to reduce political polarization, or the tension, the toxicity

that we're living the last decade, is to push power back down to the states and the

localities.

If the Supreme Court doesn't have to decide these major issues of federal power or executive

authority or what have you, then it won't be as talked about.

I think that would be a good thing.

But it's not just the Supreme Court.

It's also Congress.

It's also executive agencies.

As power has centralized in Washington, all of these institutions start playing a larger

role.

You just mentioned that these branches of government shouldn't have so much power.

But how can their powers be cut back?

Well, just like it's taken decades to get to where we are, it will take decades to get

back.

I think the Supreme Court, starting in the '30s, started approving uses of federal

power that go beyond Constitutional authority without amending the Constitution.

And that's really the genesis of the growth of power here in Washington.

But it's not just that.

It's also Congress abdicating its authority or delegating its power to the executive branch.

That way congressmen can say, I voted for this great law and I'll just have the bureaucrats

sort out the details.

And if people don't like the details, they can blame the agency.

They shouldn't blame me, I passed this great law.

But it's the bureaucrats, it's the civil servants, it's the agencies that are doing

the bad things.

And, of course, people can't lobby the agencies or the bureaucrats.

They can only sue them.

And that's why all of these major disputes over clashes of policy views or values end

up in the courts rather than being decided in the halls of Congress.

There's something unusual and unhealthy about protests going on outside the Supreme

Court rather than outside of Congress because all of these major clashes of policy positions

or values should be decided by our elected representatives, not pushed to the executive

agencies and ultimate resolved in court.

I also asked the Democratic side the same questions.

Thomas B. Reston has spent a lifetime in politics, working in eight presidential campaigns at

the national level and in countless local and statewide efforts.

He was twice elected Secretary of the Democratic Party of Virginia.

Reston was a political appointee in the Foreign Service under President Jimmy Carter, serving

as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs.

He is a civil rights advocate and author of "Soul of a Democrat."

Here is my discussion with him.

Do you think the role of the Supreme Court has gone beyond what the framers had intended?

Thomas Reston: No, I don't think so.

In fact, I think, as a practical matter, the role of the Supreme Court is returning more

or less to what the framers wanted, or certainly Mr. Chief Justice John Marshall, who was the

great conservative who established the principle of judicial review, over the actions of Congress

so that the Supreme Court could knock out legislation that had been written and passed

by the Congress if the Supreme Court found the legislation to be unconstitutional.

So I think really the Supreme Court is returning to its earliest days as this staunch, as the

staunch wall against an unbridled Congress.

I think that it has always functioned as the great conservative part of the American government.

And I think with the new conservative majority on the court, which has now been established,

I think that court will return to its essential role.

We will have more with Thomas Reston in our next segment.

Coming up, it is possible that president Trump could appoint another justice during his presidency.

If that happens, how will Democrats react?

After Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, it is possible for President Donald Trump to

nominate a third Supreme Court justice during his presidency.

The 85-year-old Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is currently recovering from lung

cancer surgery.

She was absent from oral argument on January 7th for the first time in her 25-year career

on the court.

She participated in deciding the two cases being argued by reading legal briefs and transcripts

of the oral arguments.

Ginsburg is the leader of the court's liberal faction.

She spent a considerable part of her legal career as an advocate for the advancement

of gender equality and women's rights, winning multiple victories arguing before the Supreme

Court.

She advocated as a volunteer lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union and was a member

of its board of directors and one of its general counsels in the 1970s.

During Barack Obama's presidency, some progressive lawyers and activists called for Ginsburg

to retire so that Obama would be able to appoint a like-minded successor, particularly while

the Democratic Party held control of the U.S. Senate.

Ginsburg rejected these pleas.

If President Trump will be able to appoint another conservative Supreme Court justice,

how will that affect national politics?

Here is the rest of my discussion with Thomas Reston.

Ever since the 1950s, the Supreme Court has had a liberal majority.

Now with the confirmation of Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh, that situation is changing.

Now with the possible replacement of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Democratic Party

will lose a reliable left-leaning Supreme Court.

How will they react?

Thomas Reston: I don't regard the Supreme Court now as a left-wing Supreme Court.

But I think that you are correct that for a period during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s,

there was a majority on the Supreme Court which was very sympathetic to the forces of

reform in American society and exercised the power of the court in a very robust way to

assist the forces of reform in America.

And I think that liberals in this country sort of got used to thinking in their own

minds that the court was a reliable ally and that sometimes liberals might be able to get—that

they thought they might be able to get their way even if the people didn't agree with

them or the representatives of the people in Congress didn't agree with them if they

could simply go to the courts and win legal cases in the court which would get them the

same result.

I think now that the Supreme Court is getting much more conservative, and I think the Supreme

Court has been reliably conservative for some time, but now it will become extremely conservative,

and there won't be much ambiguity about who has the power on the court now.

I think that it behooves the liberals and the Democrats to renew their ties to the American

people and to use the elective power of the people as a way to advance the reform agenda.

So you think this is actually an opportunity for the Democratic Party to search for its

soul, if you will, and be connected with the American people again?

Thomas Reston: I do indeed.

I do indeed.

It's not that I am opposed to using the courts for advancing or certainly using the

law to help people in this society.

I have been the chairman of the board of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund, MALDEF,

a couple of times.

And they stand up for the rights of Latinos here in the United States.

It's headquartered in Los Angeles.

So I am proud that the work that civil rights leaders do in our courts.

But I do think, as a political matter, the Democratic Party needs--this is an opportunity

for the Democratic Party to renew its very close ties deep into the American people.

And that is part of what I mean in my book when I'm talking about regaining the soul,

as the Democratic Party regaining its own soul.

Do you think the establishment of the Democratic Party will do that?

Thomas Reston: Well, I think they're going to need to because the numbers don't add

up for the Democrats anymore.

The reality is that the country is sort of evenly divided politically.

And the last election, while the Democrats registered major gains, it was not the sort

of "hand of God" type of election that just swept the conservatives out all across

the board.

I think the election revealed that the American people are still deeply divided.

And what the Democratic Party needs to do, instead of just trying to mobilize more of

its current supporters, it needs to look for ways to move beyond its current base and back

into the middle and back, in fact, into the Republican—into large groups of the American

people who are now voting Republican who at one time were reliable Democratic voters.

The white working class in this country, after all, is the heart of Franklin Roosevelt's

New Deal coalition.

The Supreme Court has outgrown the plan set forth by the Founding Fathers, but like every

other institution, it is not the blueprint that does the building; it is the people.

The imposing edifice of the Supreme Court is a magnificent reminder of the court's

power, but it is still the people behind the edifice--the justices, the clients, and the

attorneys, as well as the American people--who decide the Court's future.

Should I Start a Blog or a YouTube channel in 2019? | Small Business Advice - Duration: 3:36.

Is it better to be creating videos or blogs for your business?

Stick around I'll give the ins and outs of that decision for you right here. This is Jacob

of Jacob le video production please subscribe and hit the bell I'm going to be creating

a ton of useful helpful content going forward.

So anyway, blog or YouTube video or online video, which is going to have a better benefit

for your business.

Now one thing you want to think about first is you know with my website does it have a

whole lot of authority a whole lot of people who are coming there a whole lot of backlinks

which is other sites who are linking to your page.

If that's true, definitely a first step is blog because you have a lot of authority,

which means you can rank better for keywords already.

Now, the thing is, though, it doesn't really have to be an either or

I think it's been better to create both.

And honestly, it doesn't take that much extra time.

For example, how I do it, I create a little blog post.

And then I take my camera and I turn that into a video and then I'll embed the video

on my blog.

So people who prefer watching can just use that method.

And you know, people who prefer reading can just scroll down and read through the entire

blog.

And then with Pinterest, I can create a rich pin which links directly to the blog.

And using this method.

I'm now on three different search platforms.

YouTube is a video search platform.

Pinterest is a visual search platform.

And then Google is text base search platform.

And sometimes YouTube videos or Pinterest videos can rank in Google as well.

Now videos just really create that personal touch.

It lets people know who you are creates a lot more connection.

And 72% of people prefer watching videos to reading text.

So that is another option to look into.

Personally I prefer doing a combination of both a lot of businesses you know they're

competing with potentially scam me websites with people build up really quickly and having

a lot of blog posts and video content and helpful information sets you apart.

And the spammy websites definitely are not going to use their face and communicate directly

with their audience.

So they're both important for building trust blogs are really great in terms of ranking

for Google, you can click the card to see my video on the ideal blog post length but

videos are great at creating that connection.

And if you're starting from ground zero creating a YouTube channel and learning a lot about

ranking can really you know, incorporate that personal touch to it.

And also the great thing with with YouTube videos is for your email list.

You can be including this as helpful information that people can click to and watch.

So they each have their strengths and I think for so many people having a combination of

the two will be an efficient use of time and will also allow them to be on multiple search

platforms and also cater to people who prefer watching or prefer reading.

So I hope this has been helpful please ask me any questions please subscribe.

I will see you in the next video.

💭3: Full Plan Or The Next Step - What Do You Prefer? #TheNORoutine 30 ★ #TheDay1Journey Ep. 100★ - Duration: 13:39.

hey I have a question for you what do you prefer

do you prefer having the full plan or

just the next step what's more effective

what is more helpful for you more about that

just after the amazing intro welcome to the day one

journey episode 100 yes episode 100

this is the first 3 digit episode WOW amazing or not amazing

well I'm not sure about you but I'm pretty excited

either way let's dive right into this episode

so what do you prefer do you prefer having the full plan

all laid down or just the next step in today's episode

we'll dive into what's more effective and helpful for you

also for you and also for explaining other people

do you remember last episode last episode

last few episodes yes last few episodes

we mentioned and we talked about the times when people

come to us and ask questions two episodes ago we said

that many times they don't really ask for the real answer

they might want to start a conversation

they want to hear what they want to hear

and not necessarily want a real answer

then last episode we said we mentioned that if

they do want a real answer sometimes the the

most effective and most helpful thing we can

do for them is to answer with a question

yes answer with the question not just to make them

annoyed but to understand them a little bit better

get our level of our curiosity about them a little bit higher

understand where they are where do you want to go

so we can be more helpful for them

opening a thread in our mind opening a though in our mind

no just what they ask not just literally what they ask

but what they are after where they are and

where they after so we can give them

the right ideas or even advice for them so this was

las episodes now today's episode

this is the situation they are there

either our colleagues or friends they asks us some questions

and we are sort of the experts so we ask them

questions like we said last episode we ask them questions

to understand where they are where they wanna go

so after we understood that the question for me in today's

episode what's the best thing provide them the full plan

or just the next step I'll tell you little bit for my own

experience for years for years I would have just

laid out the full plan many people would ask me

many people would ask me what's my nutrition plan

what's my training plan usually after they complimented

me about my physics so I would tell them

what is my plan and and even when I realized

that they want something I will describe a very good plan

for them whether it was nutrition or usually training routine

and I did that for years I thought that's the best thing is

for me my mind everything was very organized

and very well articulated I know what to do

so I just put it all forward in their mind

thinking wrongfully thinking that they

could take digest everything at the same time

it took me a while probably few years to understand

that's not necessarily the most effective thing

because people get overwhelmed and on top of that

I lose some precious energy of mine you see when people

ask for advice and then I ask them some questions

to understand where they are they want the full plan

sometimes they want their sense of completeness

knowing that's the plan I'm gonna do it

etc etc so I will give them this plan but many times I understood

most people it's it's pretty hard to

follow a plan so it's just much

more effective to give it to just the next baby step

just the next baby step yeah and then send them

to do it for one week then if they are serious

you tell them to come back and ask for more

yeah that's the thing that's the magic of this episode

you see for so many years I would spend so much energy

describing telling explaining all these plans for people

and they would not follow up with the plan

so I said to myself I'm wasting my energy

so how can we be more effective I asked myself

how can I be more effective more effective in the way

I'm spending my energy but also more effective in the

way I help people it goes both ways

so I just started giving them just the next step

not to overwhelm them something that I would make sure

with them it's easy for them for example if someone was

a little bit overweight and he asked me how I train

what I eat and then saying for example he has

pretty lousy nutrition habits you know

so I can give him a full nutrition plan full training

plan but that's it doesn't make it effective

it might be accurate but it doesn't make it effective

so I would break it down in my mind not with their mind

in my mind and I would break it down

and try to realize what's the best next step

for them so for example it can be just cut the crap

for example or not eat after certain hour or

many small things that they can do and

I would make sure with them that it's it is manageable for them

so they can follow through so I might say something

one small thing about nutrition for me it might be small

for them it might be bigger and then maybe

something small about the training not even getting a gym

gym membership maybe just...

someone is getting some gas here the gas station...

so maybe maybe the advice it's not the advice

maybe the tip was something small with the nutrition

maybe cutting some crap and with the training maybe

use the stairs no the elevator not even making

a gym membership you want to make it easy

easy for them enough to start and not too hard for them

not even to start at all that's the thing here

that's... a little bit raining still that's the main message of

this episode for me to you this is two things people

ask for your advice you can lay out all the plan

or you can ask some more questions

understand where they are and just give them

just the next step just the next step and

remember of course this is still the NO routine series

what do we do here it's about savouring and saving

our energy for the most important stuff

what do I mean by that the NO routine is about the

stuff that we don't do to get energy get the

extra energy of not doing this stuff that not so important stuff

to get this energy this attention this space and room

to put in the stuff that we really want

so what's the connection to this episode

we want to help our friends right but we don't want to

waste this energy so what do we do

we just give them the next step

we give them the next step and we tell them do that

do this in this week come to me after that

if you did it I give you the next step

we make them accountable we make them own

what they do I tell you something

some people back then would tell me

I remember one specific person he came to me and he told me

ask me to be to take him as a project

I have myself it's enough projects for me

so when you give them something so they can

come back to you you make sure that they

earn in it they deserve your energy you make sure that these

people deserve your help so crucial my message to you

don't just spread your energy just like that just waste it

give it to people who deserve it give it to

people who deserve your precious energy

so just give them the next step

yeah just give them the next step and after a week

tell them to come back and get the next step

if they don't come at least you didn't

spend precious energy and if they do come back

you know that they deserve it so give some more energy

and let them succeed let them do their business

so we are really really really out of time

so back to you you probably think you

you probably know what's the back to you of today

well back to you next time next time

you are tempted to give someone's the full idea the full plan

maybe someone is asking you about a book

and you know all the book you know all the advices

you know all these things can be so much helpful for them

instead of trying to shove all this information down their throat

as I tried to do for many years have empathy for them

understand that they cannot digest everything at once

with one bite so go deeper into them

understand what their biggest struggles and give us just the next step

maybe give them the book push them a little bit to

read just the first chapter maybe share with them just

1 or 2 best ideas in the book for them get them a little bit

motivated a little bit curious about the book and then

let them come back to you make it comfortable for them

to come back to you but at the same time

remember make them deserve your energy your help

because you have other things to do

maybe even other people to help to so this is my assignment

for you for the day do this today and of course

of course till tomorrow till tomorrow's episode

which will be the second three-digit episode

101 episode till tomorrow of course

have an amazing amazing day one

BCAAs or Protein? [Which Should YOU Take?] - Duration: 4:46.

Hey guys, Paul from Ultimate fat Burner.com here.

Today we're asking "bcaas or protein powder" Which should you take?

Is one better than the other?

Should you take them both?

I'll get into the details in just a few seconds, stick around... please don't

go anywhere.

Hey, welcome back and thanks so much for sticking around.

So let's get into the discussion on bcaas or protein powder and start with a little

background information.

BCAAs stands for branched chain amino acids, of which there are 3; leucine, isoleucine

and valine.

We care about branched chain aminos because they have a pronounced effect

on things related to muscle - especially Leucine, since its effects on muscle protein synthesis

is well documented.

Branched amino acids are also essential amino acids, which means they are aminos your body

can't make naturally - and have to be obtained from your diet.

Now Protein powders, of course, are a little different - they're not a source of just a

handful of aminmo acids, but of a much more robust blend of them.

The exact amino acid profile of the protein will depend

on its source - whether it's whey, egg, soy, caseine, rice, buckwheat or pea protein.

Whey protein is the most popular protein powder on the market, so I'm going to use it as my

example.

A good quality whey protein contains about 26 grams of BCAAs for every 100 grams of protein

and is a good source of all 9 essential amino acids.

It's amino acid profile is comprised of about 13% leucine.

If you remember, Leucine is that amino acid that plays such a critical role in muscle

protein synthesis.

So to put that into context, if you're taking 2 scoops of a high quality whey protein powder

daily, you're already consuming roughly 13 grams of BCAAs.

That's 2.5 times as many BCAAs as you'll receive from a single scoop of a standard BCAA product.

Now obviously some contain more and some contain less, but the

standard dose is about 5 grams.

Even better, whey protein delivers close to the ideal ratio of branched chain amino acids

- and that's 2:1:1.

In other words, typical BCAA product contains one part valine, one part isoleucine and 2

parts of leucine.

A 5 gram serving will look like this...

2,500 mg leucine / serving 1,250 mg isoleucine / serving

1,250 mg valine / serving.

Now Whey protein is a little low on the valine, but it's in the ball park.

Ok, by now I'm sure you see where I'm going here.

If you're already taking a couple of scoops of a high quality protein powder per day,

you're already taking plenty of BCAAS, and the benefits you can expect by taking

a BCAA supplement as well is going to diminish significantly.

A recent study for example - and I'll include a link to it below - showed that while BCAAs

helped athletes recover faster, it is likely that benefit is

negligible if you're already consuming adequate protein daily.

Ok, But what if you're not consuming adequate protein daily and you have to pick one.

Which should you choose - protein powder or BCAAs?

To me the answer is pretty clear; you should take a protein powder, and preferrably a whey

protein powder.

Not only will a single serving give you most of the aminos you'll get in a standard commercial

BCAA product, but you'll get all the other essential amino acids,

the non essential amino acids, and all the benefits associated with whey protein supplementation.

Now, don't me wrong; I'm not suggesting BCAAs don't offer value, they do.

And in my opinion, they do even if you ARE taking a quality protein supplement.

For example, I always have whey protein and BCAAs

in my cupboard.

Sometimes I throw a scoop of BCAAs into my water bottle so I can take them throughout

my workout.

I wouldn't do that with a whey protein.

So yes, I do like BCAAs.

But the questions was, BCAAs or Protein Powder.

And if it has to be one or the other, it should be protein powder.
