Hi there! My name is Larissa Aradj I'm a
French immersion teacher at the Toronto
District School Board here in Toronto
ontario Canada. We are one of the largest
school boards in all of North America
and the largest in all of Canada. I also
recently was certified as a Google for
Education Innovator in TOR 16. Along with being a
teacher I'm also a Digital Lead Learner
with the TDSB. In that role I teach, train
and lead professional development for
teachers and staff in my area of the
district. I have also presented at
several EdTech conferences, summits and
district organized learning events. In my
PD sessions I strive to be practical,
engaging and hands-on. One of my mottos
is "Keep Educating Yourself" I try to keep
up with EdTech updates in order to
always provide the best and most
relevant professional development
possible.
Here's a brand-new amazing feature of
Google Forms. I created this yearbook
photo submission form so teachers can
upload pictures to our yearbook
committee. In the past, you weren't able
to upload files or photos directly
through a form. Now you can with this
handy dandy feature called "file upload".
The logo is a cloud with an arrow
pointing up and it's in the question
types on the right side here. Just on a
side note that this feature is only
accessible right now within a Google for
Education domain. You won't be able to
use it to have parents upload something,
for example or someone from another
district, so keep that in mind.
Over here you can change the question
title to whatever it is you want your
respondents to upload. You can choose the
maximum number of files that people can
upload so 1, 5 or 10.
You can even choose the maximum file
size 1 megabyte all the way up to 10
gigs. Here in blue,
you can choose what type of files you'd
like them to be able to upload. For my
purpose I just chose "image". Let's have a
look at some responses in the summary
view you can see that the photos that
have been uploaded have the uploaders
name attached. Now let's check out
exactly what it looks like in the
response sheet. You've got all the form
information in there and then the file
upload comes in as a hyperlink. Here's a
pro tip: if you've got a file that's been
uploaded it comes in the spreadsheet as
a hyperlink. If you choose two or more
they come in as URLs with commas in
between them. So, if you really want
hyperlinks make sure to choose the
maximum one file upload when building
your form. Or you can just do several
questions with the maximum of one file
Lastly, I want to show you what it looks
like from your Google Drive. You have
your standard Form folder then inside
that each question that you've built for
file upload will have its own folder, too.
You can see all of the photos that
have been uploaded right here!
There you have it, a brand new feature of
Google Forms. Happy file uploading! HIGH FIVE!
