Richard Sennett - As nuances entre o sim e o não - Duration: 2:22.
Collective intelligence is different from crowdsourcing.
Crowdsourcing is when you have an enormous number of people,
particularly on the internet,
contributing an opinion, and you take an average of that.
The most, say, 2 million people think X,
and 1 million people think Y.
Once you think you could have…
that there's no reason about intelligence in that.
It's just a popularity contest.
The 1 million people who think Y might be correct.
And, again, this is a kind of abuse of technology.
We don't, for instance, look at…
it's just yes or no. Do you think this, or this?
But people never just think this, or this, they think everything.
So, we have the technology to have more complex responses,
and to make a picture of them. We know how to do that.
But, again, the technology's not used that way.
It's why I hate popularity polls for politics.
That's not collective intelligence. That's just you simplify a question,
and then you say yes or no.
In Britain, we're about to vote whether to leave the European Union.
A very complex question.
But, it is being simplified to this or this,
not all the difficulties of each position.
And that's the fault, not of the public,
it's the fault of the way issues are presented to them.
As I say, the technology now exists
to give a much more complex portrait,
a much more intelligent portrait
of collective belief. But we don't use it.

How do you describe this?(10) (Vocabulary Building) [ ForB English Lesson ] - Duration: 1:51.
Hi everyone and welcome back to ForB's English channel.
I'm Gabriella and in this lesson, you're going to guess what's happening in the video.
So can you tell us what the man is doing in the video?
Let's take a look.
So can you tell us what's happening?
Well, he's giving them a fist bump.
Now, this is a friendly gesture in western culture.
Usually, guys do it to each other.
It's usually men that do it more than women.
Some women do it too but I think in general it's more of a sports kind of boxing, maybe, gesture.
So, giving someone a fist bump.
We could also say "he's fist-bumping them" and again it's used in informal situations.
You wouldn't use it in the office probably, but it's among friends usually.
So let's practice this phrase together.
Please repeat after me.
He's giving them a fist bump.
OK, great.
Let's try it one more time.
Please repeat again.
He's giving them a fist bump.
Great job!
Thank you very much for watching.

Do My Own Gardening - Raised Garden Bed Soil Mix - Ep2 - Duration: 7:22.
Much needed!
Now there is no mistaking who this box belongs to!
Now that the garden bed is built, let's get some soil down.
But before we do that let's go over some other things you should consider before putting
down your soil.
If you built your raised garden bed and you're going to be putting it in a grassy area, put
the garden bed down where you're thinking of placing it, and dig out all of the grass.
You want to make sure to get all the way down to the dirt level to get all that grass up
and out of the place that you're going to be putting the bed.
Because our bed where the picnic table use to be and there's already pine straw, there's
not a whole lot of weeds or grass that we have to contend with.
So let's go ahead and take a look at our bed and see what we're dealing with.
So there's not a whole lot of weeds that we have to deal with, we've got a little bit
here and some back there but it's mainly all pine straw.
So there's not grass or weeds that we have to go in and pull out which is a good thing.
But again if you do have any grass or weeds, make sure to go in, dig it all out, clear
out the area as much as possible, and then we'll move on to the next step.
Now that we know the area is cleared out, what we're going to do next is put down a
weed barrier, which is a mesh type of material that prevents weeds from growing into the
bed, or at least helps prevent them.
In our case, what we're going to do, is we're going to take our bed, flip it over, roll
out our mesh, and staple it to the bottom of it, and then flip the bed back over.
On to step number two!
Now that we've got that stapled to the bottom, you call in one of your co-workers to help
you flip it back over!
Now let's talk about our soil!
There's tons of options when it comes to selecting a soil to put inside of a raised garden bed
like this.
There are different reciepes out there that you look up and mix up your own type of soil.
That will depend on the type of region and the climate that you live in, which recipe
you go with.
But there's also pre made garden mixs that you can buy and simply dump into a bed.
We're going to go with an organic pre made gardening mix.
I'll leave a link the description box below so that you can click over to our website
and read more, but basically it's a organic mix of earthworm castings, perlite, peat moss,
and mycorrhizal fungi.
TO figure out how many bags we're going to need, we need to first figure out how much
cubic feet that we're dealing with inside of a four by eight box.
To do that, we'll measure in inches, we'll measure the lenght, then will multiply that
by the width, and then will multiply that by the height.
We'll take whatever that number is, and then divide that by seventeen twenty eight.
One thousand seven hundred and twenty eight.
And that will convert it over into cubic feet for us.
After doing the math, we've got about twenty seven cubic feet that we're going to be dealing
with.
So, we've figured out we need about seven to eight bags of pre mixed gardening mix to
put inside of our raised bed.
Now don't worry if the soil doesn't come all the way up to the top of your raised bed.
Meaning it doesn't come level with the sides.
You want to leave about an inch or two to put a top layer of mulch.
And we'll talk about that in a second.
But for now, let's go ahead and get the soil inside of this bed.
It's the next morning after putting in all of that soil.
It took a lot more out of me than I expected yesterday afternoon.
So I took a break and decided to finish up this morning.
The thing about the soil that we used is it comes compressed in these bags.
Once you open them up, they kind of uncompressed and they fill up a lot more space than you
would think.
Having said that, we want to water it down so that all can settle and compact in there
a little bit more to see if we need to add more soil, so we're going to do that now!
After soaking the soil down, we've got about three inches between the top of the soil and
the top of the bed, so I think we can afford to put one additional bag of soil on top of
what we already have.
So that's what we'll do now.
That's not even one full additional bag.
It's about half.
We're going to go ahead and soak that down and let it settle and see if we can add the
rest in.
So this is the second soaking.
I did all the soil yesterday, soaked that down, put a layer on top of that, soaked it
down, and this is what we've got.
We've got about an inch and a half, almost two inches, between the top of the soil and
the top of the bed, so I'm going to call this good.
I'm not going to put anymore.
We've got probably about a half a bag left in the wheel barrell.
So this is good!
We're going to leave it right here.
There we go!
We've got our weed barrier down, we've got all of our soil in there, it's nice and settled,
we're ready to start planting.
And that's what the next video is going to bed.
We're going to talk about the plants we've chosen to put in this garden bed, why we choose
those.
We're going to talk about how we're going to arrange the garden bed.
All of that good stuff is coming in the next video.
Hope that was helpful!

These words separate us
These are my compulsions
In this darkness
I'm not done with my old wounds
My path is erased
Maybe I'm lost
So destroy me
If that's what you want
Burn me in your hate
Put me back together
If that's what you want
Make me your desire
In the shadow of these tears
I am scattered
Besides, in my path
I have come to a standstill
My path is erased
Maybe I'm lost
So destroy me
If that's what you want
Burn me in your hate
Put me back together
If that's what you want

Fighting the Resistance? Just Do The Work! - Duration: 7:29.
I started out today on a very sour note
I was getting ready to pack for a shoot
tomorrow I was going to do a little bit
of 8 by 10 work and I couldn't find my
lens now it's not a very small lens it's
it's not like you know it's not like in
a drawer somewhere or maybe under those
sheets of paper over there it's it's
pretty good-sized lens it's like as big
as my head and I mean I was thinking
what the hell am I going to do I mean
this this whole thing to go out tomorrow
and shoot this camera it's been planned
it's part of the deal it's what I want
to do you know you get in a funk and you
want to move on and do something all of
a sudden you can't find your lens I
found it right where I never looked all
morning I would go into the little shoot
area there in the staring and it's not
in that box I know it's not in that box
I looking this over here it's not a net
box it was in that box so I had my lens
and I'm gonna put it on my eight by ten
camera with my brand-new 25 year old
glass on the back and go and make some
pictures tomorrow so I'll get some video
on that that'll be fun but you know been
feeling a little compressed lately do
you ever get that way where you think
you know I want to do you know and fill
in the blank there I want to do this and
you think I want to plant it then it
comes to the time you're going to do it
and you think oh man I don't want to get
up early or I don't know if I want to go
here I don't think I want to go there
you know it's all I think ah this trip
tomorrow
it's out of you know I have to drive out
of town and I'm thinking I hate that
Drive you know all this negative shit
just comes bursting in does that does
that happen to you because it happens to
me I get this sort of vast influx of oh
crap I don't want to drive all the way
from here to Wickenburg from
Wickenburg on cool but from here to
Wickenburg I want to do it and there's a
there's a great remedy for the
it's absolutely great remedy it's called
JUST DO IT - just get in a car get on the
bike and go and do it I find that all
that negativity melts away in the first
45 minutes or an hour and you realize
it's resistance its resistance building
up a little block to keep you from doing
it but once you get over the top of that
little hump there you just get some
downhill momentum and you go on we we
live in a in a world of instant
gratification we live in a world where
what you what you do and how you do it
is scrutinized all the time you know I'm
doing these videos now and trying to
keep up with that everybody you know
kind of gets into your business in a way
and you think how do you stay creative
during that and how do you keep pushing
while all those things are happening I
think the only thing you do is just you
just keep on and I know that that
momentum is a big part of it we think if
we can get over this hump or we can we
can move just a little bit from where we
are we can get a little momentum going
down the backside we do get stuck with
push back resistance all those little
things that hold us back from getting in
the car with the camera and going out
they hold us back from getting on the
phone and doing cold calls they hold us
back from doing the emails that we have
to do to send out the clients but the
only thing I can say to fix it is to
just do it there's no magic I'm not
talking about like long term creative
slumps I mean there's all kinds of I
mean go on the internet and scour the
internet all kinds of like well try a
different camera or you know take a road
trip I'm not talking about that I'm
talking the morning of the road trip
when you go out to the car and you think
man I'd rather stay home and yep I've
got all this work to do I've got
articles to write I've got to do this
I've got to do that yeah you do
you really do
but you got to do this trip because you
planned it some of you may know that my
my motorcycle trip to Alaska was was
aborted last year because I wrecked my
back seriously the first two days out
and then I only made it five days and
thank God we called it quits because I
spent another eight and a half weeks in
in physical therapy to fix it so that I
could actually walk and you know I made
that commitment to ride my motorcycle
ride a motorcycle to Alaska and you know
some people been surprised here that I'm
still going to do it I'm still going to
do it I'm going to do it I'm going to
write the book and all the whole bit
because I said it would I have to do
what I say I'm going to do or what's the
point in saying you're gonna do anything
nobody gives a damn what I say they're
only interested in what I do same with
you talk talk talk do do do what lasts
longer so anyway uh wouldn't it when the
creative mood doesn't hit when the
musn't show up shoot anyway do it anyway
design anyway right anyway every Sunday
morning I get up I have to write an
article for the newsletter some Sunday
mornings I get up and I think there's
nothing I want to do less than write an
article right now for the newsletter but
what I do is I come down come in I sit
down I open up Evernote I look at the
stuff that I've saved ideas for content
and I click on one and I go that sounds
pretty good i summarize it in one
paragraph and then i write the article i
have to do it if you don't do it you let
resistance win and when resistance wins
one time it's easier for it to win the
second time and the third and the fourth
and before you know it resistance owns
you instead of you owning resistance so
you know take it from me I've been doing
this for a long time not every day you
get up do you think oh man I'm going to
hit it out of the park today some day
you get up and think I want to do this
but if you're a commercial photographer
you got to and you've got to bring your
a-game every time and I think that
breeds a special kind of passion and a
special kind of commitment and that's
what I love to see I'm seeing it at the
project 52 site with all the students
there some of these these students I
mean I've got students who will spend
all day doing an assignment shoot all
day I mean hours three three evenings to
set it up and get it built and it's just
incredible to watch that kind of
commitment that's the kind of commitment
it takes and they just tell resistance
to shut up I want to hear from you it's
time for me to make something as a
matter of fact time for me to make
something right now I'll see you
tomorrow
