or a reporter rather than a weather anchor.

You wanted to work in this industry.

I started as a weather anchor in Japan.

With some experience, I came back to Korea.

And that's when a position opened up.

So I took the exam and got in.

One among 500.

I'm still thankful for that time.

Those exams give off anxiety.

I didn't tell my parents thinking they'd worry.

But I told Eunsil.

She came with me to all three

of my exams and interviews.

She was with me when I got the call saying I passed.

I still remember.

In the middle of Yeouido...

That was my first time preparing to be an anchor.

I even considered working for free if I got chosen.

That's what you thought.

I seriously considered working for free.

But that doesn't last long.

After a month, I realized I needed to get paid.

Of course.

I went to work super early and got off late.

I had to get paid for my labor.

The weather is always live.

It's not easy to do that for 7 years.

7 years were long.

You can make mistakes without realizing on live TV.

I was terrible during my first year.

You know the news that's aired

from 7 to 9 in the morning?

I was in a live segment where I appear 6 times.

I can look into the camera now

but I'd avoid looking into the camera then.

That's not good for TV broadcasts.

I was worried since it was a live broadcast.

There wasn't even a prompter.

You had to memorize everything.

- Right, I memorized everything. / - Is that possible?

I came up with a plan. I placed

the script by my feet.

So I could look down if I didn't remember.

So then the weather segment started

and my mind went blank.

I was frozen for 3 seconds. I looked down

but the font was too small to read.

You couldn't see the words.

You can't see on set.

I should've used a 20-point font

but I printed it with a 15-point font.

I thought I'd be able to see it, but I couldn't.

So I picked it up and read off of it.

- During the live broadcast? / - Yes!

So they went nuts upstairs.

They just cut off the feed.

They cut you off?

We couldn't air that.

I made mistakes like that all the time.

The GM would yell at me all the time.

Just quit if you're going to work like this!

How dare you tarnish the name of MBC?"

He threw a bunch of documents

and some papers hit my head.

And it really hurt.

Of course.

It hurts in real life.

- Did you get hit a lot? / - A bunch of times.

I often cried in the bathroom while flushing.

So I tried very hard to make a comeback.

I heard later on after I became successful.

I was told that there was someone who never missed

my segment since it was so funny

watching me make mistakes all the time.

Things like that can become hot topics.

Those become video clips.

I was all over the message boards.

What's with this girl?

Does she have family connections?

"I wonder if she's still there and not fired."

After some thoughts, I knew that was about me.

That was probably me.

Was the show that year? That's right.

I said, "That was me." I got a surprised reaction,

I was so bad at my job back then

but the person was happy to see how I progressed.

So people have said nice things to me.

There's a legendary story about Eunji.

When she'd do the weather

the viewer ratings would spike up.

I did the 9 p.m. news for 5 years.

During that time the female anchor changed 3 times.

Yet I kept my position for 5 years.

I'm not trying to brag but when I did the weather...

The weather comes last so the ratings plummet.

Yet for my segment, the viewer ratings went up.

That's amazing.

For 1 minute 30 seconds.

Eunji, I heard you told your sister

not to apply to be a weather anchor.

I had already been doing it for 3 to 4 years by then.

And I was popular as a weather anchor.

I thought it would be synergetic

if we had started at the same time.

But I felt like if she started then

she'd be under my shadow.

She wouldn't be recognized as a rookie

and she'd always be seen as my little sister.

She has a strong pride so I worried she'd get hurt.

I told her to be a reporter or a journalist.

But she passed the exam on her first try.

She's watched me do my job since she was young,

so it must've been familiar to her.

That's so cute. They all did what their big sister did.

Eunji has been doing this since we were young.

And it seemed really nice.

But it's not like I could take her job,

so I thought of trying it out too.

Eunji constantly tried to put a stop to it.

I took the exam behind her back.

I told her after I had passed and got my job.

She got all sulky.

And while she was sulking

she posted something on social media?

She didn't speak to me for a month.

I guess she felt bad for my intense training.

That's when mini homepages were the trend.

"My loving little sister Eunsil made it."

She didn't even speak to you for a month.

She wrote this long post.

Hey guys, it's Katie Betzing.

And today, I am here with Microsoft Surface.

And I'm going to be answering a couple of questions that you

guys asked me,

from my previous video which was up on my YouTube channel.

And it was my YouTube story, how I got over mean girls and

bullies.

And I'm basically just gonna be answering some of the questions

you guys had, for advice.

So let's dive right on into it.

Let's go.

Okay, so I have my questions on the Microsoft Surface, and

I'm just going to be answering them now.

The first question is from Isamary or Esmary.

And she said, when you started your YouTube channel,

did you have an idea of what type of channel you wanted?

And the answer to that is I did have an idea of what I wanted.

I wanted to do a beauty channel.

But the thing is,

I really wasn't that into beauty products or makeup and hair.

I was good at hair, but I was terrible at makeup.

Like my second video I ever filmed was me doing a makeup

tutorial with a Q-tip, instead of a makeup brush.

A Q-tip, it was that bad.

So I really wasn't good at it and it wasn't my passion.

And I feel like once I started doing more comedy videos and

relatable videos, my channel started taking off.

Because that's what I like to do.

So if you're thinking about doing a YouTube channel,

make sure it's something you really like.

The second question is from Ella Ericson, and she said Katie,

did you go to college?

The answer to that is yes, I did go to college.

I went to community college for a year and a half.

I took some online classes and

then I went into college as well.

I liked college a lot and

I actually might go back, I'm not sure.

I have a couple more classes to get my associate's degree.

And I think I might just do that for the heck of it.

Because college to me,

was actually easier than high school.

The next question is from Emma Upton, and she said, hey Katie,

I'm going to be a freshman and this video helped me so

much, aw.

A question I have for you about going into high school was,

how the transition for you, were you more excited or nervous?

Okay, for high school, I was not nervous at all.

And guys, I really don't think you should be nervous if

you're a freshman.

I get so many comments of people being so

scared to go into high school.

But the reality is, it's so easy.

The first couple of days might be nerve-wrecking, but

it's literally so easy.

Everyone's nervous, too.

You gotta remember that all freshmen are nervous.

So it's not just you.

But don't be nervous about it,

because it's literally the same thing as middle school.

There's just more people now, and there's more chances

to make more friends, and there's more things going on.

I feel like you get more respect from teachers, and

you're just treated like an older kid, I guess.

Do you have any advice for

someone starting college this fall?

Yes, my advice would be to take as many credits as you can, but

don't overbook yourself.

I took a lot of credits.

I think I took 18 credits and a full-time student is 12 credits.

But that's because I thought my classes were pretty easy.

So I just took as many as I could to get out of the way.

And I don't know, my advice would be to, I don't know,

cuz I didn't go into a university.

But I would say just to take as many credits as you can,

and really work hard on getting good grades.

What's the biggest challenge you've faced in life?

The biggest challenge I faced in life,

it was probably my freshman year in college.

I just wasn't sure if I should give up YouTube, or

if I should keep going, or I don't know.

Cuz I really didn't know what I wanted to do.

I was gonna do singing and advertising, but

I just was kinda unsure.

But I think my biggest challenge would be YouTube and

not knowing whether to give up or not.

And I feel like I am going through a challenge right now.

Not to get too personal, but right now with my YouTube

channel, my views aren't where I want them to be.

So I'm kinda struggling, no is my career dying?

Or it's just like YouTube struggles, I guess, but

it's all good.

The last question is still from Emma, and she goes,

what do you see yourself doing in the future?

Hopefully still doing YouTube, and I really, really,

really wanna do a clothing line with my sister.

Me and my sister have always been into clothes and fashion.

And Biz is really good at drawing up fashion designs.

And I feel like I'm really good with the whole business

side of it.

And I just think it'd be so cool,

if we had our own clothing line.

And that is something I really wanna do, because I know if me

and my sister did it, it would be really good.

I just feel like it would be really successful, and

I think that's something we're probably gonna do,

so look forward to that in the future.

But that is all the questions I have for

Only Look At Me is a track from Taeyangs first solo album Hot and became a hot topic after sweeping music charts upon its release in 2008. Soompi. Display. News. English. 300x250. Mobile. English. 300x250. ATF.

In the episode, songwriter Kim Ina said, One of the lyrics [from Only Look At Me] goes, Even if I cheat, only look at me, and the tone of these lyrics doesnt really match Taeyangs image.

In response, Taeyang said, This song was written by YG composer Teddy and was actually originally meant for another artist. But I heard the song by chance and fell in love with it immediately.

So I went to Teddy right away and begged him [for the song], which is how it became one of my solo tracks..

Meanwhile, Taeyang made his long-awaited solo comeback with Darling and Wake Me Up earlier this month. Plus, Taeyang recently talked about the reactions his jokes get from his fellow BIGBANG members as well as his girlfriend, actress Min Hyo Rin.
