Virgil van Dijk to Arsenal: Southampton will ask Gunners for Theo Walcott swap deal

Arsenal have been handed a boost in the hunt for Virgil van Dijk. The Gunners fancy a swoop for Southampton central defender Van Dijk and Theo Walcott could be crucial to Arsene Wenger landing his man.

The Saints are reluctant to let the Holland international leave St Mary's, despite freezing him out of the first team.

But, according to Tribal Football, they will sanction a deal with Arsenal for Van Dijk if forward Walcott is thrown into the mix. Walcott started his career at Southampton before joining Arsenal at the age of 16 in 2006.

The 28-year-old, who has hit 104 goals in 386 appearances for the Gunners, is on the fringes of Wenger's squad.

He has managed just 50 minutes of action this term, and spent the entirety of Sunday's 4-0 drubbing at Liverpool on the bench. Liverpool are also interested in snapping up Van Dijk before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Anfield chiefs are plotting a club-record £75m bid. If Arsenal are successful in signing Van Dijk then Shkodran Mustafi will be allowed to join Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Mustafi moved to the Emirates Stadium last summer for £35m but Wenger needs to trim his squad.  Meanwhile, Van Dijk is reportedly optimistic about sealing a move to Liverpool.

China has hailed a decision by the Indian military to withdraw from a disputed border

region in the Himalayas, ending a months-long stand-off between the two Asian powers.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular news briefing on Monday that

Indian troops, this morning, pulled out of Doklam.

She said Chinese personnel on the ground had confirmed that Indian forces and equipment

had been moved out from the area, and that Chinese troops had resumed patrols on their

side of the disputed border.

"I am pleased to confirm that trespassing Indian personnel have all pulled back to the

Indian side ... [and] Chinese troops continue to patrol on the Chinese side of the border,"

she said.

Doklam is a disputed plateau located between China and Bhutan.

India, which is a close ally of Bhutan, has a military base nearby the disputed area.

India's Foreign Ministry had earlier announced that New Delhi reached an understanding with

Beijing on the row, adding there would be an "expeditious disengagement" in Doklam.

The Monday's announcement comes ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming

visit to China for a BRICS summit, which also include Brazil, Russia and South Africa.

Hua further said China has "friendly relations with India" and hopes its neighbor can "earnestly

abide by historical relations and norms governing international law."

"We will, based on mutual respect for sovereignty, uphold peace and tranquility in border areas

with India," she said.

In her statement there is a clear message to India that China will continue the military

patrol on the controversial Doklam border.

So, they will not withdraw their troops from here.

blood sugar reading.

In most cases you are written a prescription for a machine called a glucometer (some call

a glucose meter).

Sometimes your healthcare provider will have one to give you.

Generally you can get a glucometer kit for free, with enough supplies to get started.

You will then pay for the test strips and lancets each month or however often you will

need them.

Before we get into how to use the glucometer, I think it is important for us to explore

some other areas concerning the task of taking blood sugar readings.

WHY DO I NEED TO MONITOR MY BLOOD GLUCOSE?

Monitoring your glucose daily is simply a vital part of managing diabetes.

It also is important because it empowers you to be in charge of your disease.

No matter what your treatment plan consists of, blood sugar monitoring gives you immediate

feedback into how well your plan is doing.

Is it working?

"Checking your blood glucose gives you the freedom to make choices without worry, the

confidence to learn from your actions, and the motivation to keep striving to do better,"

says Linda Dale, Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Outpatient Diabetes Education Program

at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Diabetes Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

"Monitoring tells you that what you're doing either is working or isn't, and it

serves as motivation to keep up actions that are working or to make changes."

WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?

Knowing what the numbers mean is very important in regards to taking blood glucose readings.

If you know everything about getting the numbers, but don't know what they mean, you are wasting

time and effort.

Knowing if your blood sugar is too high or too low or just right is vital in treating

diabetes.

You were diagnosed with diabetes because of these numbers.

Your fasting blood glucose level was greater than 126 mg/dl on 2 separate readings.

This is the amount of glucose that was present in your blood after a time of not eating.

Normal blood glucose levels are less than 100.

Blood glucose readings of 100-125 are considered pre-diabetes.

You are shooting for a fasting blood glucose level of 80-130 before each meal which is

called pre-prandial.

A post-prandial reading (which is 1-2 hours after eating) should be less than 180.

A reading of less than 80 is considered hypoglycemic.

This means your blood glucose level is getting too low.

In this case you will need to get some carbs in your system.

The recommended amount of carbs is 15 grams and then check your blood sugar levels again.

If your readings are extremely high, especially before eating, say in the 180 range, you may

need to take a fast acting insulin to help bring it down.

This should be discussed with your doctor and is one of the reasons taking blood sugar

readings are so important.

"Regular monitoring is especially helpful for showing the positive effects of exercise,"

says Dale.

"Say your readings have regularly been around 140 mg/dl, but you start taking a walk every

day and you start getting more readings around 120 mg/dl.

That will definitely boost your motivation."

HOW DO I CHECK MY BLOOD GLUCOSE?

The chart on the screen will give you a visualization of what to do.

1.

Wash your hands.

This is very important.

You are going to be invading your finger with a lancet, it is necessary that your hands

be clean.

I personally keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my glucometer kit.

I also buy a very large bottle and refill the smaller one when empty to save money.

2.

You will prepare your supplies.

Get out the glucometer, the test strip and the lancet device.

3.

For most glucometers, you will place a test strip into the glucometer and wait for it

to tell you to place blood on the strip.

4.

You will choose a finger to draw blood from.

The lancet device is spring loaded, most devices require you to set the spring by pulling back

on the back of the device.

You should use a fresh lancet every time.

Look for instructions on how to change your lancet.

You will put the lancet device firmly on your finger and then depress the button that will

allow the lancet to make a very small hole in the finger.

Squeeze around the hole and get a drop of blood to come to the surface of the skin.

Then place that drop of blood on the test strip that is in your glucometer.

Actually, the true purpose of this work

He said He would come again in the last days as the Son of man incarnate,

uttering words to fulfill His important work of judgment.

When we use the term "Son of man,"

we're referring to the incarnation of God, God in the flesh.

When we refer to God's Spirit,

this is not the same as the Son of man.

But Christ is certainly the incarnation of God, the Son of man,

and this is indisputable.

The Son of man?

The second coming of the Lord Jesus is the Son of man

who speaks the words to do the work of judgment in the last days.

you have told us that the Lord Jesus has returned

and He's been incarnated to do His work.

But I just don't understand.

We all know that the Lord Jesus was the incarnation of God.

Once His work was finished,

He was crucified and resurrected, appearing to His disciples,

and then ascended into heaven in His spiritual body.

And so, this has all been confirmed in the biblical scripture.

When the Lord comes again,

it will be through His resurrected spiritual body that He appears to us.

Why would God choose to be in the fleshly form of the Son of man in the last days

So what is the difference between these two forms,

the spiritual body of the Lord Jesus and the Son of man in the flesh?

I'm only saying that I'm still quite confused, if you could explain it to us.

that God in the last days has come in the flesh for His judgment.

Most followers of the Lord Jesus do believe

that the Lord will reveal Himself in His spiritual body,

the spiritual body the Lord appeared in for forty days after His resurrection.

We believers are clear about this.

This spiritual body of the Lord Jesus, after He was resurrected,

has the very same image He had when He became flesh,

but the spiritual body is not constrained by the material world, time, or space.

It has the ability to appear and disappear at will

to mankind's shock and amazement.

Accounts of these times are in Scripture. (Right! That's true!)

Before it was time for the Lord Jesus to be crucified,

He had been speaking and working within the normal humanity of the flesh.

Whether He was expressing the truth,

interacting with men, or performing miracles,

everyone thought He was normal.

And what people actually saw was His flesh truly doing His important work

while suffering torment and paying the price.

In the end, it was this flesh that was brutally crucified on the cross

as the sin offering for mankind,

thereby completing God's redemptive work.

This is widely acknowledged as fact.

Think about this for a moment:

If His spiritual body had done the work,

could the Lord Jesus have held normal conversations with men?

Could He have truly suffered the torment and paid the price for our sins?

Could a spiritual body have been nailed to the cross?

He couldn't have done these things.

If it were His spiritual body doing the work,

could we humans interact with Him?

Would we reveal our corruption?

Would we form notions about Him?

Would we dare to rebel and cast judgments on God?

No! Absolutely not!

That would be impossible!

All men are imbued with normal humanity,

they are all subject to the constraints of the world, time, and space.

And all men have a normal thought process.

If man witnessed the work of the spiritual body,

then they would be overwhelmed with fright and sent into a great panic.

Their very thoughts would become crazed and maniacal.

If God were faced with this situation,

then salvation would be impossible.

So working in the spiritual body

is far less effective than working within the confines of a normal humanity.

Yes! That's right!

Throughout the ages,

God's chosen people have never experienced the work of God's spiritual body.

It certainly wouldn't be suitable for God's spiritual body

to express the truth, directly communicate with man,

or shepherd the churches.

This truly is helping us understand things.

Brothers and sisters, God's judgment work which comes in the last days

uses the expression of God's word to purify, save, and perfect mankind,

but also its goal is to expose and eliminate human beings,

dividing man according to their kinds, rewarding good and punishing evil.

If God were to appear in His spiritual body,

and all men good or evil were to bow down before Him,

God must take on a human form as the Son of man with normal humanity.

This way, He can work and live in the human world

and He can express truth to judge and purify mankind all in a practical manner,

so that man may be freed from Satan's influence,

receive salvation from God and become of God.

Yes, of course.

The incarnate Lord Jesus worked within His normal humanity

in order to achieve mankind's redemption.

The Lord Jesus' spiritual body only appeared to mankind

just to prove that the Lord Jesus was the incarnation of God.

This was done so that man's faith would be strengthened.

You see, His spiritual body was for appearing to man and not for doing the work.

Now I see!

God incarnate has to have normal humanity to be able to work amongst man

and to achieve the redemption and salvation of mankind.

Right!

So then if God wants to thoroughly save man

through His judgment in the last days,

He must become flesh and work in normal humanity to do it effectively.

He certainly can't appear in the spiritual body of the Lord Jesus

to do His judgment in the last days.

This is something that all believers of the Lord have to become clear on.

Only by being incarnated to do His work can God purify and save man!

Yes, God really loves man!

What you said has helped me understand.

You're saying the Lord's spiritual body

between God's work performed in His spiritual body and as God incarnate.

Despite the fact that the Lord Jesus' spiritual body

can appear to man and come face to face with them,

that same spiritual body still seems unapproachable and mysterious,

it stirs fear in man's hearts to keep them at bay.

Because the Lord's spiritual body cannot interact with man normally,

and cannot perform His work while living normally amongst men,

He thus is incapable of saving all of mankind.

However, God incarnate is different.

He can interact with mankind in a practical way

and He can water and supply man,

just as the Lord Jesus could deliver the truth anytime and anywhere

while He was still living among men.

His disciples would always take the time to sit with Him,

listen to His teachings and communicate with Him.

They directly received His watering and shepherding.

Whatever obstacles they faced,

the Lord Jesus would help them find the right solution.

They were blessed with the rich supply of life.

They found God to be both pleasant and lovely.

And thus they could truly love and obey God.

It's only when God chooses to become flesh among men

that we have a chance to engage with, experience, and know God.

Only at that point can we see God's wonder, witness His wisdom

and His practical salvation with our own eyes. (Amen!)

You see, this shows the importance and value of the work of God incarnate.

And the spiritual body simply cannot achieve this effect.

It's great that God has become flesh for His work!

This fellowship is important to understand,

and has made one thing very clear to us.

Only through returning as the Son of man and working within normal humanity

will God be able to practically judge, conquer, and purify man.

If the spiritual body of Lord Jesus came to work,

He could not achieve nearly the same result. (Right!)

At first, when God becomes the Son of man

to begin His judgment and purification of mankind,

we humans will treat God as though He was an ordinary human,

and that's because we don't know the incarnate God.

We will form notions about God's word and work;

we'll treat Christ without respect and disobey Him;

we'll speak in falsehoods, pass judgments on His work,

and go so far as to condemn Him.

The arrogance, rebelliousness, and resistance of us humans

will make itself fully visible in the presence of Christ.

It's just as Almighty God says,

Let's end our reading here.

God judges, exposes, and deals with mankind

according to the actual fact of their resistance.

God's work is practical and reveals man's true nature.

When faced with this evidence,

those who can accept the truth will be thoroughly convinced enough

to admit their own resistance and that they are rebellious against God.

Also, they will come to know God's holy, righteous,

and unoffendable disposition,

and they will all be able to accept God's judgment by word submissively,

so that they may be conquered and saved by God's practical work.

Just as Almighty God says,

So mankind will only have themselves thoroughly purified and achieve salvation,

if the incarnation of God comes to implement His judgment in the last days.

Yes, it is true! That is true!

.. a new law to restrict mergers and acquisitions. I heard this fantastic story of how Chinese companies

.. are exiting money from the economy even though there are currency controls.

It came about from a conversation with a lawyer. This lawyer had been asked by

.. a Chinese company to participate in an arbitration hearing. They said, "We want to do

.. this arbitration hearing. Would you be interested in participating and representing us?"

[The lawyer] said, "Yes, okay. Who is the other party?" "Well, the other party doesn't exist

.. yet. We would like you to create the other party, represent both us and the other party,

and then we would like to lose an arbitration award of about $5 million to the other party,

which you will set up in another country." [Laughter] When the need is great, it becomes

.. the mother of innovation. Legal innovation, corruption innovation, et ceterea.

They have much bigger problems. Now, you will see bans in some countries.

In the countries where they can arbitrarily effect a ban, they can't actually affect that ban,

in practice, on the ground. Because where the rule of law is weak enough that a single

.. individual - without any recourse, due process, or opposition - can simply ban a form of money,

their ability to actually enforce that is probably pretty weak too. Because everybody below them

.. is going to be taking bribes. Just imagine, for example, the ruling comes down that says,

"You can't do mining in China!" That goes down to the districts, from the districts to

.. the smaller districts, to the cities, to the towns. Eventually, some official sends a fax

.. to the local village where they're running a mining farm off [hydro-electricity] that represents

.. 40-50% of the municipal income of the entire area. And they say, "You must close your mine."

What does the local official say? "... We have no mines here!" [Laughter]

Or, "[whispers] Guys, close it down for 24 hours." "[yells] We have eradicated mining in China!"

"Long live China and our great leader!" "[whispers] Turn it back on." Right?

The ability to actually affect change on the ground is mediated by layers and layers of

.. bureaucracy, which are more and more corrupt. The bigger the crisis, the easier they are to corrupt.

You've got to realise that these mines are quite decentralised within China, and in many cases

.. they provide a stream of "corrupt money" throughout every official in the area:

the police works for them, the mayor works for them, the electricity company works for them...

Now the electricity companies are the ones who are mining. Good luck shutting that down!

Again, it's not as easy to do. The higher the need, the more corruption & invention you're going to have.

[QUESTIONER:] What happens in the future when Bitcoin becomes mainstream,

governments or inter-governmental organisations realise this, like the U.N., IMF,

U.S., or E.U.? [What if they] decide to implement their own cryptocurrencies, say "UScoin" or "IMFcoin"?

.. is this? Let's go through the words: Democracy? Eh, no. Republic democracy?

That sounds like totalitarianism. I never signed up for that. Great. If your government

.. starts doing crazy things... The question is: can governments do crazy things that violate the

.. rights of billions of people? Sure they can! They do it every day. We have to resist and make

.. choices, not only about which governments we elect, but also sometimes make choices about

.. using other systems. People in Venezuela are making that choice today, by breaking the law.

Because the choice is between feeding their family and not feeding their family!

At that point, whether you've broken the law is a small issue, right? Again, I don't expect to see that.

The reason I don't expect to see that is because most governments in the world, when they see the idea

.. of people being able to use a free, electronic commerce system that is efficient, creates

.. growth, opportunities, and jobs... An innovation that gives access to the world of commerce across

.. borders - What's not to like? That's something you should encourage. If your government

.. does not encourage that, and does not believe in those ideals (that people should be free

.. to associate, free to express, free to make choices), then your government is not free.

Which is a much bigger problem than Bitcoin, at that point. I would be less worried about their

.. power over cryptocurrencies than by the fact that they have all the guns.

Residents of Houston's industrial communities already reporting unbearable chemical-like

smells coming from the many plants nearby.

Yesterday, we interviewed Bryan Parras with the group t.e.j.a.s., the environmental justice

group, who said, "Fenceline communities can't leave or evacuate, so they are literally getting

gassed by these chemicals."

This is an issue you have dealt with for a long time, from New Orleans to Baton Rouge

to Houston, Professor Bullard.

The communities closest to these petrochemical sites in Houston, disproportionately low income

and minority.

You have Saturday, as we reported in the lead, a massive fuel storage at Kinder Morgan's

Pasadena terminal, spilling after being toppled in the storm.

The tank held 6.3 million gallons of gasoline, but unclear how much gas leaked.

Can you talk about the significance of where people live and the disproportionate impact

of climate change on communities of color and poorer communities?

DR.

ROBERT BULLARD: Well, the best predictor of health and well-being in our society, and

including Houston, is ZIP Code.

You tell me your ZIP Code, I can tell you how healthy you are.

And one of the best predictors of environmental vulnerability is ZIP Code and race.

And all communities are not created equal.

Houston's people of color communities historically have borne the burden for environmental pollution,

and also the impact of flooding and other kinds of natural and man-made disasters.

When we talk about the impact of sea level rise and we talk about the impacts of climate

change, you're talking about a disproportionate impact on communities of color, on poor people,

on people who don't have health insurance, communities that don't have access to food

and grocery stores.

So you talk about mapping vulnerability and mapping this disaster and the impact, not

just the loss of housing and loss of jobs, but also the impact of having pollution and

these spills, and the oil and chemicals going into the water, and who is living closest

to these hazards?

Historically, even before Harvey, before this storm, before this flood, people of color

in Houston bore a disproportionate burden of having to live next to, surrounded by,

these very dangerous chemicals.

And so you talk about these chemical hotspots, these sacrifice zones.

Those are the communities that are people of color.

Houston is the fourth-largest city, but it's the only city that does not have zoning.

And what it has is—communities of color and poor communities have been unofficially

zoned as compatible with pollution.

And we say that is—we have a name for it.

We call that environmental injustice and environmental racism.

It is that plain and it's just that simple.

And so this flood in Houston is exacerbating existing disparities, so that is why I say

we have to talk about—when we talk about moving past the flooding part, and moving

to cleanup and recovery and rebuilding, we have to build in environmental and economic

justice into that formula.

Otherwise, we will be rebuilding on inequity.

We say that's unacceptable.

AMY GOODMAN: Dr. Bullock, we only have 30 seconds.

But your own situation now, you are being forced to move?

DR.

ROBERT BULLARD: I am being forced to move because of the rising Brazos River.

It is supposed to crest at 59 feet.

And so I live in an area where we have been told we have to evacuate.

And so I am packing up right now and getting ready to leave out of here.

And so, it doesn't—there is nobody in this town that this flood has not touched.

And so, that is the nature of and the horrific—how this has touched so many people.

And we have to do the right thing.
