Pantera - Slaughtered (Bass Tutorial) [ITA SUB ENG] - Duration: 6:16.

Hi and welcome to this new tutorial video

Today we're gonna learn how to play Slaughtered, by Pantera

Pantera, if you don't know what we're talking about

is a band that was active from the late 80s to the early 2000s

Genre: southern /groove metal

So, why Slaughtered?

Slaughtered was a song I always liked

Maybe one of pantera most underrated song

From what I've seen there are no master tracks available online

neither good covers

nor good tutorials, so I'm trying to fill in this gap

Slaughtered is not a song about slaughters or anything like that

but it's a song that reflects the distorted picture of organized religions

that Phil Anselmo had at the time

It's taken from Far Beyond Driven

published in 1994

their seventh studio album

Rex Brown has been the only bass player for Pantera

and after they disbanded he had other projects like Down

Kill Devil Hill

and some others

We're gonna see how to play the intro, then the verse

The chorus

The fill

The break

Then the outro

We're gonna see the intro very quickly

it is actually a verse followed by a slightly modified chorus

but nothing special

if you need to, take a look at the tab that you can find on my Facebook page (link in the description)

The verse is made up of two parts

the first one goes like this

Pay attention to the slide between the third and the fourth fret on the A string

The second part of the verse is similar

Put your finger on the fourth fret

and again pay attention to the slide between the sixth and the seventh fret

Maybe the only thing you have to pay attention to here is

the pattern of the slides and of the picking

you don't have to pick every single note of the chourus

you have to pick only certain notes, as shown here

The fill is this part that goes before the break, and on the outro

Actually, hearing the bass note after the low E

is kinda hard

It could be C# or, if you don't like it, G

The break is made up of two parts, the first one, let's say in E and the second one let's say in F

In the first part, on the second repetition, pay attention to

the slides between G and A on the third and fifth fret

In the second part, as I said, changes to F

I saw very different versions of this particular chunk

from different bassists, guitarist, and so on

I go by what I saw Rex doing live

and from what i could see

he holds a F pedal in the beginning

then doubles the notes of the guitar

Ok, the outro is very easy, we already saw it

Actually it's a chorus followed by a slightly different chorus

the only thing that changes is the pattern of the slides and of the picking

as you can see here

And we end with a fill

as we saw it already
