Youtube daily an Aug 2 2017

Hi everyone my name is Jessica and welcome to my youtube channel.

I've actually wanted to have a youtube channel since YouTube was

a thing, I just never had the confidence to do it

Jessica is not actually my birth name. I've made recent decision to change my

name to Jessica. For now I'm going is Jessica online. October is my favorite

month not only because it's my birthday month but because I just love fall I

love horror stuff and I love dressing up I think everything about it is awesome. I

have a huge sweet tooth anything chocolate like ice cream is so good like

just sweet stuff love it. I will listen to pretty much any music except country

I just don't like it I really don't. One of my biggest dreams is to live in

New York City. I go there once a twice here with my family and I love it so

much. Although I've never been officially diagnosed I do consider myself to have

OCD and along with that dermatillomania. I am super bisexual and super proud. My

favorite color is black. I know some people don't consider that a color but I

do so if you disagree with me you're wrong. Some of my biggest fandomes are

the Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, and the video game Outlast. I could go on and

on about all three of those I just love them so much. I am a huge fan of villains

from any book video game TV show movie if it's a villain I probably like them a

lot. I have a very odd fear I don't know if it's a fear but I just really do

not like sauce and popsicles like I will do dishes but it has sauce on it

especially like spaghetti sauce I can't get grosses me out so bad, when I look

at popsicles I get the chills I just imagine when you bite into it

I haven't had a popsicle in years because of that like I had them when I was little

but that's it. I do consider myself a witch. Do with that information what you will. I

have never had a drop of alcohol in my life and I am extremely proud of that

but if you've had alcohol I won't judge. I don't judge on that so. I am proud of the

fact that I never had any alcohol. I have met my soulmate. Here she is she's

the love of my life, yeah she's not very happy to be held. I love her so much.

Her name is Jasmin. I have extremely severe allergy to tree nuts. I have to avoid

anything that has any kinda tree nut in it. I can have peanuts that's it

but no tree nuts or I will die. I absolutely love art even though a lot of

the times I don't have motivation to do it. I do consider myself an artist.

It may sound narcissistic but I am absolutely obsessed with my own hair I

just love it it's so big and curly and my favorite thing about myself

and I I know it's narcissistic but I just love it so much. So I hope you

enjoyed learning some facts about me for my introduction video. Things you can

expect on this channel is probably a lot of chats. I have a lot of things talk

about a lot of opinions even though some people might not agree with those

opinions but I just really I love hearing people's thoughts and I love

talking about my thoughts and discussing things. Probably some fashion videos

because I do love fashion a lot I just a bit awkward filming that kind of stuff. I

will definitely if you know someone asks or maybe I just want to I will do

something with my fandoms that I'm part of especially Outlast I would love to do

videos talking about the outlast characters that'd be super fun and also

I have a package coming in a few days so I could probably do an unboxing video or

something. School's coming back in so I mean I can always do a ton of school

videos I really hope you guys enjoyed that um if you dislike it

dislike it. Hit the dislike button, if you liked it hit the like button. Please

leave comments telling me feedback. Obviously I'm filming with an iPhone

it's not the best quality let me know if there's anything do you think I should

do to make it better. Hopefully I get more comfortable talking on camera just

give me feedback I take negative and positive it's just all constructive

criticism so thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed it

Grow Into An Estate & Trust Litigator | Hackard Law - Duration: 2:22.

The State Bar of California reports that as of July 31, 2017, we have almost 190,000 licensed

attorneys in the state.

The average age of a bar member is 49 years old.

The average age of a recent law school graduate is around 27.

In layman's terms – we sure have a lot of lawyers.

How do law firms recruit?

Many of us seek out law schools' career centers.

This can be a fertile field.

The advantage – bright, capable students often seeking their first legal job.

The disadvantage – its quite a task to take a recent grad and train him or her into a

position that requires a good deal of judgment and commitment.

So Hackard Law is seeking an attorney with some litigation experience to join our team

of estate, trust, probate and elder financial abuse litigators.

We are passionate about what we do in representing disinherited heirs, wronged beneficiaries

and families of elder financial abuse victims in California probate and civil court.

Our geographic practice area includes most of Northern and Southern California urban

counties so occasional overnight travel is required.

Why is our practice growing?

Start with the fact that 10,000 baby boomers are turning 65 each day.

Baby boomers are the biggest and wealthiest generation in our nation's history.

While many estate wealth transfers to or from boomers are uneventful, there is both anecdotal

and statistical evidence that many of the transfers require the expertise of litigators

to move disputes to resolution.

In Los Angeles County alone, there are over 14,000 probate and mental health trials per

year.

It doesn't take too many court appearances in the probate courts of Sacramento, Placer,

Alameda, or Los Angeles Counties to see that there is an immense amount of work in probate

litigation.

If you are a licensed California attorney and would like to learn more about this position,

then email to resume to Brian Geremia at bgeremia@hackardlaw.com.

Thank you.

Make India an enemy and you will lose your lifeline, Chinese experts caution Beijing over Doklam - Duration: 4:39.

Apart from raising tensions between India and China, the Doklam standoff could potentially

threaten Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Chinese scholars and experts have warned

for the first time.

Macau-based military expert Antony Wong Dong has cautioned that Beijing's hardball politics

are pushing New Delhi further away and could end up making it an enemy.

"China is playing psychological warfare... but it should realise that even if it defeated

India in a war on land, it would be impossible for the PLA navy to break India's maritime

containment," Wong told Hong Kong-based English daily South China Morning Post (SCMP),

pointing to the importance of the Indian Ocean as a commercial lifeline.

China is largely reliant on imported fuel and, according to figures published by Chinese

state media, more than 80% of its oil imports sail through the Indian Ocean or Strait of

Malacca.

"Unlike Southeast Asian countries, India has never succumbed to China's 'carrot

and stick' strategies," Wong said.

"India is strategically located at the heart of China's energy lifeline and the 'Belt

and Road Initiative', and offending India will only push it into the rival camp, which

[Beijing believes] is scheming to contain China by blocking the Malacca Strait and the

Indian Ocean."

Make India an enemy and you will lose your lifeline, Chinese experts caution Beijing

over Doklam

Sun Shihai, an adviser to the Chinese Association for South Asian Studies, expressed similar

sentiments.

He told SCMP that he was concerned that the worst military stand-off in more than three

decades would fuel anti-Chinese sentiment in India, as mistrust and hostility between

the two countries run deep.

"If not properly handled, the border row could have a long-term impact on China's

efforts to expand its diplomatic and economic influence beyond the Asia-Pacific region with

its "Belt and Road Initiative", he said, adding, "India is one of the most important

strategic partners for China's 'Belt and Road Initiative' because of its geographic

location."

"Beijing has been trying to lure India to join 'Belt and Road' projects because

both countries stand to benefit from them strategically and economically.

[But] The latest tensions have soured bilateral ties and the growing mistrust will only make

New Delhi more reluctant to make a decision," Sun claimed.

It may be recalled that Delhi boycotted the BRI Summit in Beijing in May on the grounds

that China-Pak-Eco-Corridor under BRI violates India's sovereignty and that the initiative

lacks transparency.

Referring to India's position on BRI at the maiden Indo-US Forum here on Monday night,

Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said, "…We have also outlined the principles that should

be adhered to in undertaking connectivity initiatives, including ensuring respect for

sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Zhou Chenming (a military expert with Knowfar Institute for Strategic and Defence Studies,

a non-government think tank in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province, China) told SCMP that China was

well aware of the futility of an all-out war for a desolate border area that is "frozen

for up to eight months of the year.

Besides the [human] casualties, the logistical cost of a border conflict between China and

India would be inestimable."

India's interest in enhancing its naval capabilities, especially its fleet of submarines,

is believed to have been prompted by China's military modernisation and its increased activity

in the Indian Ocean and the narrow Malacca Strait, which connects it to the waters of

East Asia, according to SCMP.

India's growing focus on submarine warfare was underscored after it was included as part

of the joint naval drills in Malabar.

(Of an absolution)

(And every night, I lay awake)

(And I find no conclusion)

(And every night, it just stays the same)

(In my dream of an absolution)

In the nightlight, do you see what you dream?

All your troubles, are they all what they seem?

Look around you, then you may realize

All the preachers, all with their lies.

And I might know of our future

But then you still control the past

Only you know if you'll be together

Only you know if we shall last

In the night light, do you still feel your pain?

For the valor you waited, it never came.

If you were able, would you go change the past,

To mend a faux pas with one last chance?

And I might know of our future

But then you still control the past

Only you know if you'll be together tonight

'Cause every night I will save your life

And every night I will be with you

Cause every night I still lay awake

And I dream of an absolution

'Cause every night I will make it right

And every night I will come to you

But every night it just stays the same

In my dream of an absolution

In the nightlight, do you see what you dream?

All your triumph, and all you'll ever be

Look around you, then you may realize

Happiness lies trapped in misery

And who knows what of our future

We can all try to change the past

Only you know if you'll be together tonight

'Cause every night I will save your life

And every night I will be with you

'Cause every night I still lay awake

And I dream of an absolution

'Cause every night I will make it right

The Crisis of Marxism: An interview with Louis Althusser | English Subtitles - Duration: 25:44.

LOUIS ALTHUSSER THE CRISIS OF MARXISM

I am very pleased to be here in Rome. You should know that, for us French people, the city of Rome, as well as all Italy, are places where one comes across almost miraculous characters.

[NO TRANSLATION]

ROME, APRIL 1980

*How has Althusser become Althusser?*

But this is not of any interest….

*Can you explain your journey?*

My journey is very simple. I was born in Algeria.

My mother was the daughter of a little poor peasant from Movo, central France, who had decided to go to Algeria to work as a forest guard.

My father was the son of an Alsacian, who chose to come to France in 1971, but the Government of France deported them to Algeria. And this is how my mother and father met each other.

I lived in Algeria until 1980 [*1930]. I then lived in Marseille for six years, and later in Lyon for three years. I joined the army for one year, then got imprisoned and sent to Germany for five years.

I returned to France where I finished my studies in Philosophy in 1948. I stayed at the École Normale Supérieure as a professor.

*What about your intellectual and cultural journey?*

I encountered two men. The first one was Jean Guitton, who was a catholic philosopher, a friend of Pope Saint John XXIII and a close friend of Pope Paul VI.

He helped me complete my dissertation.

The other was a professor of history, whose name was Joseph Hours. He was a wonderful man. During the years 1936–1939, he talked to us about all that had happened:

the war, the defeats, the miracle of Petain's defeat. He explained how Petain had to come to power; he explained everything that has passed… wonderful.

So I thought in these lines, considering that at the same time I was a Catholic, I had established a catholic circle [association] in the Lycée where I was studying; I was profoundly Catholic, and had two points of view.

On the one hand, there was the church which called for considering and studying social problems with great respect And on the other, there was this history professor [Hours], a Catholic but Galatian-Jacobin;

he would tell us about everything he was working on, an incredible world for its specificity. This is how I was shaped.

*In which moment did you become communist?*

I became communist because I was Catholic. I did not change religion, but I remained profoundly Catholic. I don't go to church but this doesn't matter; you don't ask people to go to church.

I remained a Catholic, that is, an internationalist universalist. I thought that inside the Communist Party there were more adequate means to realize universal fraternity.

And then, there was the influence of my wife who had fought in the terrible resistance and who had taught me a lot, a lot.

Everything has come to me through women, and this is the reason why I attribute a very important role, a predominant role, to the women's movement. Women don't know their capacity, the possibilities, their capability to do politics.

What role does Catholic culture have today?

Oh… it has a giant role. In my view, today social revolution or a profound social change depends on the alliance between Catholics (I am not saying the church, though the church can also be part of it), the Catholics of the world, all religions of the world, and communists.

*Regarding science and humanism: you have criticized the thought of young Marx saying that he could not do philosophy without establishing the basis of science. Now you are in the footsteps of Marx's Capital, establishing a Marxist philosophy. Is there a Marxist philosophy?*

Marxist philosophy does not exist, and it cannot exist. I mentioned this a long time ago, two months after I wrote a brief introduction for the Italian edition of Capital.

After the publication of the book, I understood that almost everything was wrong. Finally one had to talk about the Marxist position within philosophy, but not of Marxist philosophy.

Now, I am sure — and I am speaking with the experience of 15 years — that a Marxist philosophy is impossible to exist, just impossible.

*Can dialectical materialism not exist either?* They are the same thing, even worse…

COMMUNISM

*The word "auto-determination" refers to the word "communism"?*

Well, not for me...

*What is the difference?*

Because the word "auto-determination" does not have until now any substance/content. On the other hand, communism exists. Auto-determination does not exist, but communism does. For example, it exists among us here on this rooftop of Rome.

*In what sense?*

Communism is a mode of production where there are no economic relationships of exploitation nor any political relationships of domination.

Neither are there ideological relationships of intimidation or pressure, nor of ideological enslavement. And here among us these relationships do not exist.

*Among us here, in this very moment?*

Yes, in this moment. There are islands of communism everywhere across the world, for example: the church, certain trade unions, also in certain cells/units of the Communist Party.

At my Communist Party we have a cell/unit which is communist; it means that communism has been realized… Look at how football is played, what happens…

It is not about market relationships, it is not about political domination, it is not about ideological intimidation.

There are people from [different] teams that oppose each other, they respect the rules, that is, they respect each other. Communism is the respect for humankind.

*What is the difference between respect and love?*

There is a great difference. Look at the church. When Christ said that you have to love your neighbour, love turns into an order; an order according to which, by including the other, you have to love the neighbour as yourself. But I don't want any order.

Whereas respecting the other is something that belongs to you. If you say that you have to love others, the other becomes involved in your love, he cannot escape. And if he doesn't care about (for) your love, what can he do.

What do you do if you insist: "I have to love you, I have to love you because Christ asked me to"? You run away. But if you have respect for the other, then he will leave you to do whatever you want.

If he wants you to love him, then it's fine. But if he doesn't, it's also fine. If you love him, you try to explain to the other that you love him, but if you don't love him do whatever you like.

*Lenin said that between anarchists and Marxists there were nine-tenths of identity and only one-tenth of difference; that communists wanted the extinction of the state and anarchists wanted its immediate abolishment. Do you agree?*

Yes, I agree. I am an anarchist, a social anarchist. I am not a communist, because social anarchism is beyond communism.

*Why has it broken down, this cultural unification between anarchism and communism?*

This is very dramatic history. You know that in the relationship of Marx and Bakunin there was the story of the prepotent traits of Marx's personality. It is a terrible story, just terrible.

I want to say that Marx has treated anarchists in an impossible way, unjustly. This has resulted to a resentment of the masses that you cannot absorb as such from one day to another.

These are things that last, just like when you have been badly treated by the other, you would need to be Christ in order to speak to him again; you cannot forgive, nor can you forgive for others.

How can you violate people like this and have no respect for them, like Marx did to Bakunin? Bakunin was a little crazy, but this doesn't mean anything. We have many crazy people everywhere; I am also crazy.

REVOLUTION

*Let's speak for the revolution in the West. What are the historical conditions today in order for a revolutionary process to emerge in the West today?*

This is a very difficult question that goes beyond our field of research. It's very difficult.

For instance, let's take the situation in Italy which is blocked, as well as in France. However, in my opinion, it is more blocked here in Italy than France, although this is more of a hypothesis.

Lenin has provided the general conditions. It is always true that those who are at the top cannot govern anymore, and those who are at the bottom cannot continue to be governed like this anymore. [This] is a condition. But this condition does not exist yet.

People who are at the top cannot anymore govern, this is true; but people who are at the bottom — workers, peasants, intellectuals, etc — are still able to support the existing regime; they still support it. It is enough to say that when a regime is rejected by those at the bottom, then the revolution will break out.

*So, you say that the eruption of the socialist revolution will happen only thanks to the crises of the capitalist modes of reproduction?*

Capitalist modes of reproduction are always in crisis. It is Marx's definition of capitalism, that is, capitalism is always in crisis; in other words crisis is normal for capitalism.

*You say that ideological state apparatuses are very important structures for domination of one class...*

Yes, I do. But I emphasize "...of the state," and this is a problem, because everyone is used to the term "ideological apparatuses." I did not know that Gramsci had used the term "hegemonic apparatus"; it is the same thing, only that "the state" disappears.

I am very careful on keeping "the state," because it is the most important thing: these are ideological apparatuses of the state. Of course, it depends a lot on the definition that you give to the state.

You have to give another definition to the state, instead of the classic definition given by Marx, because Marx did not understand anything about the state.

Yes, he understood that [the state] was an instrument of the dominant class, this was right, but didn't understand anything with regard to the functioning of the state, or let's say the space of the state.

*For example, Gramsci too spoke about newspapers, noting that regardless whether they are public or private, [newspapers] are nevertheless hegemonic apparatuses.*

Yes, I do agree completely.

*Now, the apparatuses of reproduction are not limited to the means of mass communication, such as parties, trade unions, and families. For instance, factories too produce certain apparatuses of reproduction (e.g. hierarchy, career, etc.)*

Oh, yes, yes, of course. I didn't speak about this, but it is correct.

*You are known, above all, for the creation of a new notion — "overdetermination." Can you explain this concept?*

I developed this concept through Freud. And I used it in a theoretical field that doesn't have any connection with Freud.

Currently, you cannot establish any relationship between the thought of Freud and Marx, except in the relationship to philosophy, that of philosophical analogy — materialism, and so on.

I used it to talk about various things in reality of society, historical events. [The concept] is not always encountered as "determination," but also as "overdetermination" or "underdetermination."

This is not simple, but in plural; in this plural, there is a plural in more or in less of "determination" that you think, or that you believe that you think, that you believe you obtained of your research.

*Can you give an example?* For example, the case of Stalin.

A very "overdetermined" case. The explanation that Khrushchev gave, in short, was that Stalin was crazy. He became crazy. This is a "determined" explanation.

But, it is more than clear that it is insufficient; that this explanation is not enough to understand the personality and the world of Stalin.

Other "determinations" are needed — "overdetermination" and "underdetermination" — because when you believe that you have understood the pillars of "determination," you don't know where exactly you are in reality, in front of reality, it can be that you are over-reality or under-reality.

You should go up, beyond, or under.

*"Over-reality" means that you are forward in respect to reality?*

It means that, in general, you are late in reality. It may happen that in certain situations — for example, poets, musicians, and utopian philosophers, are ahead of reality.

For instance, here [on the rooftop], we are certainly late in reality. Absolutely. Because we do not recognize [reality], we only try to recognize it.

*We are underdetermined?* Yes, underdetermined.

*Ernest Bloch said that the destiny of man is to be always anachronistic, to live always before their history, or to live their own history by thinking as they were thinking 20 years ago, or one century ago.*

Yes, they are always late. It's true, but he did not help. He was speaking for others, not for himself.

POLITICS

*Your method of work is to study, no...*

I tend to do that; I consider it the most important thing for everything. I think that the word "order" is the number one word.

Then, the change of thinking, change in the way of thinking; and then, afterwards, change in the way you act.

This means change the way to organize, to mobilize, to make others understand things, to encourage people to act, to organize actions in trade unions, in politics, and so forth.

*This means to change also the way of doing politics. What is politics?*

What is politics? [Laughing].

To act for freedom and equality.

*What does it mean to know how to do politics, for example?*

It means to be conscious of the real relationships between men who have ideas about politics and other things.

*You once used a metaphor that said "to know how to do politics, you need to know how to play the piano."*

Yes, it was Mao's words. *What does it mean?*

I explained it in an article which will be published… it is not necessary to repeat it today.

*Another story that you have told is that of the oak tree and donkey...*

Well, that is a very simple story. I have been told that Lenin told this story when he was in Switzerland.

The story goes like this...

[NO TRANSLATION]

He tried to explain to people that they needed to change their way of thinking.

The story goes like this. It takes place in Russia, in a rural, semi-deserted area. Around 3 o'clock in the morning, a man named Ivan is awakened by strong knocks on the door, while sleeping at his home.

He wakes up, goes to the door to see what is happening. At the door he finds a young man called Gregori who is screaming: "There is a horrible thing, horrible... please come with me."

The young Gregori takes Ivan to a field, in the center of which there is a magnificent tree, an oak tree. It is night and one cannot see very well.

Young Gregori says: "Do you know what they did to me? They gave back my oak tree to the donkey."

But the fact remains that a donkey was tied up around the oak tree. and Ivan responds: "You are totally crazy, Gregori. It's enough to change your thinking. Don't say that they tied up the oak tree to the donkey, but that they tied up the donkey around your oak tree instead."

*I don't have any questions to do unless you have to say something.*

Can we go to the beach? It is a beautiful day.

[The last minute of the interview, which has not been translated here, is a brief dialogue between the journalist and Althusser. Althusser is curious about the cupola of the church he was seeing from the terrace, which is, in fact, the cupola of San Pietro church of the Vatican. When the journalist explains to him that the cupola is the place where the Pope lives, Althusser says that he is ready to go and visit the Pope at any time – during the day, night, winter, and summer — encouraging the journalist to join him.]

Desculpa: An Open Letter to minha Mãe and All Those I Consider Família - Duration: 3:22.

...and it's kinda short, um, but a couple y'all were at

um

Jon's

uhh

educational block on respectability politics

and you may have seen me like crying in the back a lil bit,

uh, leave the room, come back, still crying.

Um... [laughs] [audience laughs]

Uh...so I've been like, processing that for a couple days,

and it's not like, that deep,

but like, I don't know. It made me cry,

so I'm gonna talk about it.

[sighs] So,

uh, I'm calling it "Desculpa,"

which means "I'm sorry" in Portuguese.

Um, so "Desculpa: An Open Letter to My Mom

and All Those I Consider My Família."

uh

phew...

It's not even THAT deep, that's the problem [audience starts clapping quietly]

like, why am I getting teared up? [laughs]

Audience Members: "You can do this!"

"You got this!"

[audience cheers and claps loudly]

"C'mon my home skillet!"

Ugh...

Desculpa

For every night of my childhood that I complained about you making arroz e feijão com farofa for dinner

Desculpa, for never wanting to invited my white friends over for dinner

because I was embarrassed that we ate at 9:00

instead of 4:30 p.m.

[audience laughs and claps]

Once at Disney World, we "cut" the line in front of a white family -

side note: we did NOT cut the line in front of that white family -

Um...

And I overheard the father

Turn to his family and complain about these

"Damn Mexicans" that "stole the spot" in front of them

that was for them, right?

So, desculpa mamãe,

- means mom -

for not turning around decking his homogenizing ass

[audience laughs]

And telling him that, "Si, yo hablo español,

pero mi família y yo estamos hablando português ahora y aquí,"

[audience laughs]

[snaps] "C'mon now!"

[whistles] [snapping increases]

"Yeesss!"

And desculpa, to my brave and beautiful Mexican and Chicano siblings

for not turning around and decking his racist ass

[audience laughs]

and reminding him that I should be so honored

as to be compared to any of you,

[deep sigh]

an honor this white man would never receive.

On my first day of pre-k, I walked in the room

and was bombarded with little kids

trying to get to know me and

all I remember was their gibberish and my tears

already drying on my face as I watched my mamãe -

the person that I considered my language life raft -

walk out the door while I drowned in a sea of English

The anchor I referred to as "my teacher" forcing my head to stay below the water

[deep breath]

Desculpa, because for the next 12 years I never fought back for air

Desculpa

[chokes up] because for the next 12 years I refused to speak to you in our language

Fuck, I'm sorry...

[audience snaps]

Desculpa, because for the next 12 years I denied that it was even my language

[sniffles]

And desculpa, for the time you came to my Valentine's day party

in elementary school

and the boy next to me turned to me and laughed at the sound of your "broken" English

[chokes up] and I laughed with him

at you.

[chokes up] I'm so sorry.

[audience snaps and applauds]

[applause intensifies]

Things About Sesame Street You Only Notice As An Adult - Duration: 5:12.

Most parents of young children probably have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Sesame

Street.

On the bright side, it's an educational show that you can let the kiddos tune into guilt-free

while taking care of other things around the house.

But on the other hand, its characters have so much staying power that you might soon

find your whole life consumed by the strange fascination little ones seem to have with

Elmo.

The series has been a childhood hallmark for generations, since the first episode aired

in 1969, and it's been going strong ever since.

But the experience of watching the show does tend to change quite a bit when you go from

a kid learning numbers from the Count to an adult sitting in for yet another episode on

your precious day off.

Here are some things you might notice about Sesame Street that probably fly right over

your kids' heads.

Risque references

Although Sesame Street has long retained its kid-friendly rating, there have been a few

very adult pop culture references slipped into the skits.

The sexy novel series Fifty Shades of Grey, for example, was one Not Safe for Kids nod

that got a mention in the series.

"I'm just reading this book Fifty Shades of Oatmeal. yea.

One beige, two tan.

WOW!

This is steamy stuff!"

You may also pick up on some Game of Thrones thrown in there, which is so violent even

adults might get squeamish over some scenes, which was parodied on Sesame Street as well.

"That is the Game of Chairs, HOZOR"

Clearly, producers know how to dial down any eyebrow-raising materials to make them suitable

for young minds, but it's clear that the show does try to give a nod to the entertainment

interests of the adults in the room as well.

Speaking of which …

Choice celeb cameos

For most of the kids watching Sesame Street, Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Cookie Monster are

celebrities enough to satisfy their own viewing interests.

But the show still tends to bring in some of the most relevant pop culture personalities

of any given moment to join in on a skit or a little lesson, using only their first names.

"Sorry Mr. Jon, Elmo can't talk right now."

Even musical acts that toddlers have definitely never heard of often come into play to put

together some solid sing-song instructionals.

"This letter's U, you know it's true."

Just like those surprising bits of source material mentioned before, it's clear these

cameo selections are meant to entertain caregivers in addition to children.

The low-key couple

The rumor that Bert and Ernie are more than just platonic roommates may have been officially

debunked, but they really do give off some pretty serious couple vibes.

"Alright I get the hint.

I will get you a glass of water."

"Would you do that for me Bert?

Oh... What a nice guy Bert is."

People have speculated for years that there's more to the citrus-colored roommates than

meets the eye, and it seems that adults read a lot more into Bert and Ernie than kids do.

Perhaps it has something to do with all the accidental innuendos.

"Every time the bed starts tapping, something special's gonna happen."

Sesame Street Workshop's Gary Knell said of the suspicions, "They are not gay, they are

not straight, they are puppets.

They don't exist below the waist."

While Bert and Ernie might not get a happily ever after, Sesame Street has still made its

support of the LGBTQ community clear.

The show has stated that it celebrates all families and even tweeted an homage to the

rainbow flag during Pride Month.

"That's great Bert …"

"It is?"

"Yea, because now my orange and your banana can be friends."

Touchy subjects

Like any long-lasting variety show, Sesame Street has had to adapt to a changing social

and political atmosphere over the years.

But what may surprise adult audiences is how well they tend to tackle certain sensitive

matters, like divorce and, most recently, the introduction of an autistic character

to the puppet pals bunch.

One of the standout moments was this early commentary on racism …

"Tully, There are just some really stupid people in the world who can't stand it to

see when people of different races are friends."

Sesame Workshop has also put together episode specials that help kids understand complex

emotional experiences like grief, military deployments of parents, and even the incarceration

of a loved one.

One particularly challenging topic the show did not shy away from was the aftermath of

the terror attacks on September 11th and how kids can cope with witnessing trauma.

With the help of the city's Fire Department, the show aimed to reinstill a sense of safety

in those little ones affected by the events.

"Would Mr. Bill like to know a secret?"

"What?"

"Elmo was scared before but Elmo isn't scared anymore."

So, in addition to helping kids learn their ABCs, parents might notice that the show also

offers a unique toolbox for them to approach some of the weightier issues children might

face growing up as well.

"You're getting stronger, smarter, kinder on Sesame Street"

Perhaps the lyrics of the closing credits number aren't meant for just kids either.
