15 Foods You Can Eat a Lot of and Still Not Gain Weight

Oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines

A large amount of fruit is not recommended if you want to lose weight, yet citrus fruits

are an exception here.

Theyre rich in substances like fiber, flavonoids, and vitamin C. These satiate you, help your

digestion, liver, and skin, and make you more healthy overall.

Melon and watermelon

With 60-70 kcal per slice, you can eat them day in and day out.

These fruits help excrete excess liquid from your body and satiate you well.

Algae

Algae, like laminaria, are the best source of iodine.

They help your thyroid function normally, keeping your hormones at normal levels and

preventing you from gaining weight.

Zucchini

A portion of zucchini is about 42 kcal.

It normalizes your salt-water ratio, improves your intestinal function, and can also be

used to lower the energy output of main courses.

Cucumber

An indispensable vegetable for all those losing weight: it helps fight swelling and gets you

slimmer without harm.

Beetroot

Beetroot is a source of nutrients, such as manganese.

They help burn fat, drive your muscles, and regulate your blood sugar.

An average portion is just 40 kcal

Eggs

You can eat them at any time of the day, even at night, without fear of gaining weight.

Of course, boiled eggs are better than fried ones.

Pineapple

This delicious fruit is the best friend of those whore losing weight.

The bromelain contained within pineapples actively splits fats and helps metabolize

proteins.

Apples and plums

One apple is only 50 kcal.

It makes you feel satiated and regulates your digestion.

Plums are rich in vitamin C and potassium, which maintain your heart and vessels.

Salad

Salad is a great source of folic acid, and you can eat it by the ton: one leaf of lettuce

is 3 kcal.

Berries: currant, cranberry, strawberry

Currants and cranberries are rich in vitamin C, and the former is also a diuretic, helping

get rid of excess water.

Strawberries are very nutritious and help your digestion as well as your cardiovascular

system.

Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower

These veggies are your allies in the fight against excess weight.

A portion of diced cabbage is just 7 kcal.

You shouldnt, of course, only eat cabbage and cauliflower, as their nutrients rival

with iodine, but you can easily include it a couple of times a week.

And some more good news

If you want to stay slim, its best to have dinner 3-4 hours before sleep.

So if you go to bed at 11 p.m., you can calmly eat at 7 p.m.

If your sleep time begins at midnight, then eating at 8 p.m. is perfectly okay.

These tangled carbon nanotubes can harvest energy directly from breathing and ocean waves - Duration: 2:00.

This yarn might not make the best sweater,

An international team of researchers

"Twistron harvesters."

These tiny twists consist of a carbon nanotube string,

tied into a tangled weave of carbon,

then submerged in a gel full of ions

When pulled,

carbon nanotubes squeeze together,

decreasing the electrochemical capacitance,

and thereby generating a small current.

Enough to momentarily light up an LED.

Previously, capacitance-change-based

mechanical energy harvesters needed

external voltage to generate electricity

But now, this research shows that carbon nanotubes

can produce electricity just as well,

without the extra juice.

The researchers tested the carbon nanotube yarn's

power-generating ability in several situations.

This shirt has a pair of these Twistron yarns sewn in.

When the wearer breathes in and out,

a small amount of electricity is generated,

which could be useful data for medical devices.

Researchers also looked into whether this tech

could harness power from ocean waves.

The harvesters worked

when placed in ocean-like saltwater,

and were able to generate electricity

when the wave motion tugged on the yarn.

More power can be generated if the harvesters

are hooked up together, with peak power generation

reaching 250 Watts per kilogram.

While these proof of concepts don't generate

enough power to light your home or

charge your electric car,

the researchers say that due to their scalable nature,

these carbon nanotube yarns may have applications

anywhere reliable kinetic energy is available.

Who can Arsenal face in the Europa League? Real Sociedad and Marseille among Gunners - Duration: 4:48.

Who can Arsenal face in the Europa League? Real Sociedad and Marseille among Gunners' toughest potential opponents

ARSENAL are returning to Europes second competition for the first time since 2000. That year they went all the way to the Uefa Cup final before suffering a heartbreaking loss on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Galatasaray.

Arsene Wenger has not managed in the Europa League since it was called the Uefa Cup. And they will be looking to go one better this year and repeat Manchester Uniteds feat in winning the competition.

Here is all you need to know about the Gunners potential group stage opponents. Who will Arsenal definitely not face?.

Arsenal are the highest ranked team in the Europa League and have been drawn in Pot 1. There are 11 other teams in the pot who the Gunners will definitely not be facing.

A tough trip to Russia to take on Zenit St Petersburg will be avoided, as well as matches against former European giants like AC Milan and Lazio.   Arsenal fan favourite Santi Cazorla steps up recovery from injury nightmare.

Big hitters Dynamo Kiev, Lyon, Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao will also be avoided. The other teams Arsenal will not play against are Viktoria Plzen, Red Bull Salzburg, FC Copenhagen and Braga.

Everton are in Pot 2, but Arsenal cannot play against other English teams until the knockout stages. Who can Arsenal face?.

Pot 2 is where most of the danger will come from for the Gunners. Real Sociedad, Dimitri Payets Marseille and Mario Balotellis Nice could certainly be a match for Arsene Wengers men on their day.

The other teams in the pot are Hertha Berlin, Steaua Bucharest (FCSB), Ludogorets, BATE Borisov, Maccabi Tel Aviv, L0komotiv Moscow, Young Boys and Austria Vienna. Pot 3 could see a return to Arsenal for Nicklas Bendtner, who now plays for Rosenborg.

A reunion with Nicklas Bendtner (left) could be on the cards. The highest quality teams in the pot are Italian side Atalanta and German duo 1. FC Koln and Hoffenheim.

Elsewhere in Pot 3, as well as Pot 4, there are some intimidating looking away trips. The remaining teams in Pot 3 are Astana, Partizan Belgrade, Rijeka, Vitoria Guimaraes, Zulte Waregem, Zorya Luhansk, Sheriff Tiraspol and Hapoel Beer Sheva.

In Pot 4, the standout club are arguably Vitesse Arnhem - Chelseas finishing school. The Gunners could also face a hostile reunion with Emmanuel Adebayor, who now plies his trade for Istanbul Basaksehir.

Emmanuel Adebayor looks despondent after coming agonisingly close to knocking Sevilla out of the Champions League. The Turkish side were a goal away from knocking Spanish giants Sevilla out of the Champions League.

Pot 4s other sides are Red Star Belgrade, Apollon Limassol, Konyaspor, Slavia Prague, Skenderbeu Korce, Fastav Zlin, AEK Athens, Lugano, Vardar and Ostersund. What are Arsenals best and worst possible groups?.

Best possible group: ARSENAL, Austria Vienna, Zulte Waregem, Fastav Zlin. Worst possible group: ARSENAL, Real Sociedad, Atalanta, Istanbul Basaksehir.

French economy CAN'T compete: Poland mocks Macron over France's 4-day working week - Duration: 3:25.

French economy CAN'T compete: Poland mocks Macron over France's 4-day working week

Warsaw's foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski launched a blistering attack on the 's one-time golden boy, who is now slumping in the polls.

Amid a background of growing frustration with from both within and outside of, Mr Waszczykowski accused the French leader of presiding over a crumbling economy.

He said the focus was unbalanced towards the worker, rather than the country, to the detriment of the nation as a whole.

Mr Waszczykowski said: "The French economy is not at the moment able to compete with the vibrant economies of many European countries, including Poland. "This is because French workers have enormous social benefits.

The working week for many French workers is four, five working days. Mr Macron has infuriated other EU states by attempting to give his ailing economy a shot in the arm by overhauling the bloc's cheap labour rule.  Under current legislation, firms are able to send temporary workers from low-wage countries to richer nations without having to pay their local social charges.

However, the French president is demanding changes are made and is using fears about the possible collapse of the Brussels bloc to scare EU members into backing his proposals.

Mr Waszczykowski said: "Consequently, instead of compelling the French economy to compete with other countries economies, President Macron has devised a way to limit our ability to operate in the common European market.

"It is against the common market, contrary to the Treaty freedoms of the European Treaties. .

"Of course, we will oppose it, because the principle of functioning of the European Union is a competitive single market and the possibility of a liberal competition in this market.

" Mr Macron has sensationally called for these rules to be ripped up and replaced with policies which better suit the French economy.

He said last week: "Some political or business circles seek to use the EUs funds while at the same time developing a system of social and fiscal dumping.

"Public opinion in more developed countries with higher salaries will not accept the system in its current format. " He warned a lack of support for his reforms "will lead to the dismantling of the European Union".

As these cleaning tablets for the toilet you can keep it fresh and clean longer - Duration: 2:15.

Keeping the toilet clean can be a very demanding task, but cleaning this is

something we should not let go of because of the amount of germs it can hold.

But as for everything there is a solution, today in todo en salud we will show you how

to make some pills that just adding them to the toilet will keep you fresh and clean

longer.

The ingredients needed to prepare these tablets are:

- Fragrant oil, in this case I will use lavender

- Hydrogen peroxide - Vinegar

- 60 milliliters of lemon juice about 2 lemons

- 160 grams of baking soda, about 8 tablespoons

Preparing this is very simple, first add the lemon juice to a bowl,

add half a tablespoon of fragrant oil, a spoonful of hydrogen peroxide,

1 tablespoon of vinegar and to finish the baking soda, then start to stir

until Obtain a homogeneous consistency.

It is important that it does not get very liquid, in case it is liquid adds more

sodium bicarbonate until it is allowed to mold.

Then we can start making the pills, in this case use a spoon if you want you

can use another type of mold, the important thing is to be in small pieces, when we have used the whole mixture,

let them dry for 12 hours and then we get our

pills Cleaners.

These can be stored in a glass jar, and added to the toilet water tank

when your bathroom needs some cleaning.

So if you are one of the people who care about keeping the bathroom clean,

do not hesitate to try this recipe and tell us what you think.

We hope this video has been useful, remember that your opinion is very important

SHOCKING Interview Blunder - Unknown Mistakes And How You Can Avoid Them - Duration: 6:24.

Kendall, Thanks for joining us...that dress is inappropriate! get out! Get Out! GETOUT!!!!

Alright, so that's probably not going to happen when you make one of these four

mistakes that we go through today but I'll tell you one thing it will kill

your chances of actually getting hired in this video we're going to go through

those four common mistakes that we see made tell you how to prevent them from

happening so you can give yourself the very best chance of getting hired the

next time that you're in an interview so let's kick off with number one the first

thing I want you to be aware of and I want you to be very realistic about is

what you're doing with your social media it is so easy to find people social

media profiles of a facebook Instagram snapchat so much easier than you think

people think oh there's no way they're going to find it these companies even

major corporations have HR teams and they are looking at these things on the

front lines of their investigation of who you are and whether they're going to

give you an interview or not you need to be careful that I remember when I was

interviewing back with a hedge fund that can Santa Barbara for an assistant it's

incredible you google their name I wasn't even doing any high tech research

I Google their name and go to images and it pulls all these different images from

their different profiles and Instagram and it's incredible it's just not

professional so you want to put your best foot forward so understand that all

the pictures and things that you put up on the social media that can be fun but

it's also going to be seen by a lot of people who are assessing you for a

professional position so please use a little discretion when you do this

otherwise what do you think I'm going to do is the higher manager if you imagine

you're hiring for a position and the first picture that comes up is someone

with a beer hat on in a bottle of Jack drinking half of it in 15 seconds it's

not a great look people may party on the weekends but you want to put your best

foot forward so be sure to do a little internal filtering on your social media

profile these next two shouldn't even have to be addressed I know hard to

believe believe it or not it happen all the time

number two bringing your kids to a job interview

you should never under any circumstance bring your child to an interview

it showed one they are unprepared to your unorganized and three what if your

child's out there throwing papers around the Secretary's desk exactly 19 exactly

yeah it shows it's not that important to you because you're going to this job I

don't know how many jobs you can bring your kid so if you can't get a

babysitter lined up for your interview for a job that you can't take your kid

it's giving off the wrong signal to the bat so I completely agree but like she

said it's surprising how often people try to do this don't bring your kid

number three arriving late you should never arrive late to an interview

because it shows that this isn't important to you about seven minutes is

a really good complete spot because it shows that you're on time you're there

you're ready for action but if you do any earlier than that it can be annoying

your exact word there was one time where we had a couple interviews come in

interns come in for an interview and one showed up almost an hour and a half

early I want to have we were in an interview with the other person yeah

well they showed us yeah that's so early you may have like a line of people

waiting in the waiting room right like talking to each other about so that's

not what you want you're kind of thinking would you not just sit in your

car I get you know to be traffic but things are currently yeah yeah that's

not good and then it becomes a hindrance on the employer to try to you know we

have the readings should I get this person early and insisted I agree and

the seven minutes is kind of a sweet spot if you show up maybe you're 15 it's

really go to the bathroom I don't you ever read about power poses but they

show when you form really strong confident poses before you go to

interview you're actually received a lot better kill a little time in the stall

in the bathroom doing a power pose it's not that hard

grab a cup of coffee walk around but don't trip earlier in seven minutes but

even more important never show up late what does that say to potential employer

no way it's the most important meeting you probably have over the months of

this interview can't even get that right that's not only indicative of promptness

bit of your work quality in the wedding organizers life so very important not to

show up late and don't show up too early either now this last one

a bit of a challenge if you're younger you're just getting out in the workforce

and that's who should you provide as your recommendation I see so many young

kids and they provide like their parents or their sister or their friend as the

recommendation that doesn't say the right thing

find the most value the highest level person that you know even if it's a

teacher or a principal at your school they'll be happy to write a letter of

recommendation to you it shows not only that you're not so out of social savvy

that you're willing to put your parents at the recommendation but then you can

get a letter of recommendation someone if you can't get in one person who's

outside of your friends or family to write some kind words about you well

then you need to build a little bit of that up before you're applying for a

position that requires recommendations so be sure that you put your very best

recommendations out there once you get a strong recommendation that can stay with

me for the rest of your life you don't put the age you're at or the age of the

person that or how long ago the recommendation was made so spend a

little time and energy getting a really strong recommendation that may be an

asset to you in your job search for the rest of your life

now all the stuff that we're talking about makes you a bit nervous just

social interaction in general maybe it's something you're trying to improve and

I've put together a free social invincibility checklist you can actually

just touch or click up here you can go to charisma matrix /si checklist and

download yours for free it's going to go over five things that most people don't

even know is going on around them some people go to happy hours they go out

with their friends at a restaurant and there's all these things going on

socially they don't understand why people are acting this way and why would

I do this to people do this it's going to give you a really nice understanding

of what I call the social matrix that most people can't see and get you up

speed with that social interaction so you can do things like show up to job

interviews or go out for a happy hour and feel confident you can put your best

foot forward and perform I will hook that both elbows the next week's video

if it's available right now you can click here to watch it we're going to go

through some more mistakes that people make and if you haven't downloaded the

social invincibility checklist just click here you can download it for free

and get your rockin social talk to you next week

Can the Flash Take a Hands-Free Selfie? (Because Science w/ Kyle Hill) - Duration: 7:23.

- If you could run as fast as the Flash,

in my estimation, you'd be the most powerful superhero.

You could think at light speed, you could time travel,

and you could make your punches infinitely more massive.

But would you be fast enough

to take a truly hands-free selfie?

Important questions.

(upbeat music)

Now I don't mean a hands-free photo with a selfie stick

or remote, no, I mean is the Flash fast enough

to hold up a camera, press the button,

and then before the shutter closes,

run to get himself in front of the camera

such that his picture will be taken?

This has already been established in the CW's version

of the Flash so let's put it to the test.

First we have to select a camera shutter speed,

I'm going to choose 1/8000 of a second,

or 125 microseconds because this is what your iPhone

or handheld device usually defaults to

and we wanna minimize blur, so can the Flash,

in this amount of time, run, stop, and provide enough time

afterwards for any photons that hit his body

to impact and then impact the camera sensor?

For that, we need to know the distance traveled.

From how far away is the typical selfie, no filters,

there's actually a lot of filters in this,

well a rough estimate would be that from the tip

of your finger to the center of your chest

is around half your height, so I will say just in general,

one meter, and we don't have to worry about the camera

falling in the travel time either because

in just 125 microseconds, the camera would experience

less free fall than the diameter of a small molecule.

Using one of the equations of motion,

we know that the Flash has to achieve a final speed

such that he can cross one meter of distance

in less than 125 microseconds of time,

we can say 124 because it only takes light 3.3 nanoseconds

to cross this distance, since it's kinda negligible

so it's the same thing, let's try it.

Three, two, one.

To take a truly hands-free selfie,

the Flash would have to be able to achieve a speed

of 16 kilometers per second.

That's a crazy fast speed but canonically,

I think the Flash could do it.

See? Possible.

Sure, the Flash would have to pull 13 million Gs

to pull this off, but that's what the speed force is for.

What if we chose a faster camera?

Using lasers, mirrors, and computer algorithms,

researchers at MIT were able to create a camera

with an effective shutter speed of one trillionth

of a second.

At this frame right, you can see light move.

This camera would make the Flash look slow.

(garbled speaking)

Let's try a selfie with this camera.

Three, two, one.

At this exposure time, light only moves

less than a millimeter so unless the Flash can run

many thousands of times the speed of light,

which we've always used as a limit on this show,

there would be no photo.

In fact, no matter how fast the Flash is,

at one meter away, any photos bouncing off of the Flash

that need to make it back to the camera would not have

enough time to do so before the shutter closes.

The only way that MIT video is possible

is because they are sampling many different exposures,

giving photons time to travel to the camera.

That doesn't really work

but we can calculate something else.

Using a normal camera, what is the maximum distance

the Flash could take a selfie at?

Alright, back to our original situation.

Assume that we have a camera with a megazoom lens on it

with an exposure time of 125 microseconds.

In this amount of time, light can travel over 37 kilometers.

Light is fast.

Okay, I know you're gonna disagree with me here

but I'm also gonna limit the Flash's speed to light speed.

We do this even though the comics say otherwise

because beyond light speed is an unknown quantity

and we wouldn't have anything to work with.

So if we limit him to light speed,

he has to run at light speed, but then leave enough time

for any photons bouncing off of his body

to make it back to the camera, and if you do that,

that limits how far he can go to exactly

half of this distance, 18.6 kilometers.

So if the flash had a mega zooming camera,

he could hold it up, hit the button, run off,

stop about 18 kilometers away, pause for a photo, nice,

and then travel with any photons that hit his body

all the way back to the camera and grab the camera

before it hits the ground.

It should have his photo on it.

It would be the most epic selfie ever.

Ew I don't look good, delete it.

So could the Flash take a truly hands-free photo of himself?

Yes, he's faster than most decent cameras' shutter speeds,

making super selfies possible and he's so fast

that he can take the extreme distance selfie to a max,

taking photos of himself from many many kilometers away.

If you're the Flash,

selfie sticks are even more pointless-er.

Because science.

(upbeat music)

Thank you so much for watching, Kristen.

Not you, the other Kristen.

If you want more weird science stuff,

you can check out the S.P.A.A.C.E. Program

on ProjectAlpha.com where I travel to distant worlds

and try to explain them, and if you want even more

silliness, check out my show with my colleague Dan Casey

called Muskwatch, where we get very silly

about a very serious man.

Thanks.

I thought I had something else, but I don't.

Bye.

I'm gonna take a selfie right now

and I'm gonna post it to my Gram-Gram.

And you will know that I did it for you

if you're still watching, oh that's not good,

gonna delete it.

Ooh.

Ooh.

Okay, we can't keep, oh.

Stop rolling.

Gotta take a good one now.

Oh god, I hate it, stop rolling!

It makes me feel bad.

I'm gonna get out of frame, how bout that?

Ha-ha.

No, don't change the frame!

Go away.

Okay bye, I'm done.

Capitalism v. Cronyism: Why Can't You Buy a Tesla in Utah? - Duration: 3:59.

today in Utah if you're interested in buying a Tesla you can go see one in

person go down to their storefront in Salt Lake City and there will be a Tesla

on display and you will even be able take a test ride but you can't ask about

the price and you certainly can't buy one if you want to make that step and

purchase a Tesla you've got across state lines

the regulatory framework for how cars are sold varies from state to state

unfortunately in few states is that regulatory framework ever simple and

Utah there is a licensing Act and a franchisor these two different

regulations work together to limit who can sell new cars in Utah

unfortunately Tesla ran afoul of both of them

Utah's licensing and franchise acts work together to protect existing car

dealerships from competition and in particular competition posed by

manufacturers hoping to sell direct to consumers Tesla wanted to sell direct to

consumer and it attempted to jump through a series of regulatory hoops in

order to do so but repeatedly it was denied the opportunity in order to sell

new Tesla vehicles in Utah Tesla created a wholly owned subsidiary Tesla UT and

applied for a license to sell new cars Utah state denied Tesla UT that license

because it said it had not entered into a franchise agreement with a car

manufacturer Tesla UT then entered into a dealership agreement with Tesla the

manufacturer and reapplied for a license to sell new cars at that point

Tesla UT was told it can't sell new cars and it can't get a new car sales license

because Tesla the company had an ownership stake in Tesla UT and when the

case finally was presented before the Utah Supreme Court the Utah Supreme

Court did what so many courts do across the country the Utah Supreme Court when

it issued its opinion in April upholding the regulation preventing Tesla from

selling direct to consumer through its wholly owned subsidiary actually said

that it's not our job to question unwise regulations

it's not even our job to question if there's only a loose connection between

the regulation and the purported good that Utah's shrined further by

prohibiting Tesla from selling direct to consumers

the Utah Supreme Court said its job is merely to conceive of a possible basis

upon which the regulation can be upheld and that's exactly what the Court did

states defend their franchise and dealership laws on two grounds first

they say that requiring consumers to purchase their vehicles to a franchise

or dealership protects the consumer from the manufacturer the states also say

that dealerships are an important part of the local economy and provide

valuable jobs but the best way to protect the consumer is by empowering

consumer with more choice not less but this country was founded on the premise

that individuals in a free market should be free to compete and through that

competition provide better services and better products and through that

competition spur innovation that not only improves the consumers experience

but improves the economy at large

Can polyamorous people cheat? | Riley J. Dennis - Duration: 13:20.

Hey everybody!

So today I'm gonna go over a few frequently asked questions about polyamory/non-monogamy.

If you're new here, hi, I'm Riley, I'm not monogamous.

But obviously I don't speak for all polyam folks -- everything in this video is just

my thoughts and opinions, and other non-monogamous people might disagree.

So yeah, I wanna start by talking about the difference between polyamory and non-monogamy.

I've seen a lot of people say that polyamory is loving multiple people while non-monogamy

is just having sex with multiple people.

I don't really like that definition, and I don't really see the need for separating

the romantic and sexual aspects since neither of them are really monogamous.

So I tend to say that polyamory and non-monogamy are synonyms for anything that's not monogamous.

But obviously, people are allowed to use whatever labels they want for themselves or their relationships.

A lot of the time I just say that I'm in an open relationship because people know what

that means and it saves me the trouble of having to explain everything about polyamory.

I also use "polyam" as the shortened version of polyamorous, and it's way easier and

quicker to say "polyam people" instead of "non-monogamous people".

Anyway, I asked on Twitter for questions ya'll had about polyamory/non-monogamy -- so let's go through those.

"Is polyamory more natural/progressive than monogamy?

Should it be a goal to become polyamorous?"

No, and no.

A lot of people seem to have run into polyam folks who act like they're superior because of it?

I don't think either polyamory or monogamy are superior to the other.

I think it comes down to what works for the individual.

So for some people, polyamory is the best, but for other people, monogamy is.

I'm not really interested in what is more "natural" because I don't think that

something being natural necessarily makes it better.

I do think a lot of people have stereotypes about polyamory that aren't true, and that

if they tore down those stereotypes they might see that they actually like polyamory -- but

I don't think that means you have to be polyamorous to be progressive.

Maybe you completely understand polyamory but just recognize that it's not for you,

and that's totally okay too.

So I don't think it should be a goal to become polyamorous, but I do think it should

be a goal to at least understand it and confront the stereotypes that you have about it.

"Do all polyam folks like orgies?"

No, I don't think so.

I mean obviously it's up to the individual, and I'm sure a lot of polyam folks love

orgies, but I don't think it's a requirement.

Some polyam folks might have sex with multiple partners at once, or some might just have

sex with one at a time.

"What are your thoughts on the more recent TV shows and movies depicting polyamory?"

From what I've seen, a lot of the media representation of polyamory is still filtered

through a very normative lens.

So like a lot of the polyam stories that get told are like one straight cis man in a relationship

with two bisexual cis women.

And they're probably all white.

And there's nothing inherently wrong with that kind of relationship, but it's the

most easily palatable for a mainstream audience -- because it's a depiction that appeals

to straight cis men.

Like it plays on the fantasy that a straight cis man could have two girlfriends, and it

usually depicts the relationship between the two women as being for the pleasure of the

man instead of just being its own thing.

I think I just wanna see depictions that push the boundaries of what a mainstream cis male

audience would be okay with.

Like, I think it'd be much better to show three men in a relationship, or three women,

or two men and a woman, or a bunch of non-binary people -- like polyam relationships have such

diversity and the fact that media depictions usually take the least controversial of those,

I don't think is an accident.

"Can polyam people successfully/happily be in a monogamous relationship?"

I think it depends on the person.

I know some people would feel trapped and like they were missing out on something, but

I'm sure for other people, it's less of a big deal, and if they found someone they

really loved who was monogamous, maybe they could be in a happy monogamous relationship.

Everyone is just so different in their experiences that I think it's hard to answer that for all polyam people.

"Do you get jealous?

And if so, how do you deal with jealousy?"

One of the common misconceptions about polyamory, I think, is that polyamorous people don't

feel any jealousy at all.

Like for me personally, I don't feel a lot of jealousy.

Like I probably get jealous about certain things every once in awhile, but for the most

part, I don't feel jealous if my partner is with another person.

In fact, I'm usually really happy for them.

I actually found out recently that there's a word for this.

It's called Compersion, and it's basically the feeling of happiness that you feel knowing

that someone you love is happy.

So if I know my partner is having a good time with someone else, that makes me happy too.

But there are also plenty of polyam folks who definitely get jealous.

Jealousy doesn't just go away in polyam relationships.

I think, just like in monogamous relationships, it's important to talk and communicate with

each other and be honest about your feelings and your jealousy and all of that.

I think most people feel jealousy to some degree, regardless of what kind of relationship they're in.

In polyam relationships, I think that an important part of coping with it is feeling secure in

yourself and knowing that you're still good enough for your partner, even if they're with other people.

I think a lot of the time you need to focus on resolving your own insecurities and be

confident in the fact that your partner loves you and that isn't going to change.

Obviously, confronting insecurities isn't easy, so I don't think this is like an immediate

process, but it is something to work on in the longterm.

"How do you respond to people who say they could never be polyamorous because they're too jealous?"

I mean, you do you.

Like, if you think a polyam relationship wouldn't work for you because you're too jealous,

that's okay, you don't have to be in a polyam relationship.

But I do think that too much jealousy can be really bad even in monogamous relationships.

So if that is a way that you're feeling, you might want to look at why you're so

jealous, and again, I think it may come back to insecurities or trust issues that you need

to work through with yourself or your partner.

"What boundaries/rules do you set?"

So for this, I think there are like too many possibilities to list in a video.

Every polyam relationship is going to have different rules and boundaries, just like

a monogamous relationship.

Different people are comfortable with different things.

Like some monogamous people think cheating is worse if their partner has sex with someone

else with no romantic connection, while other monogamous people think cheating is worse

if their partner develops romantic feelings for another person even if they didn't have

sex with them.

So one person might have more physical or sexual boundaries, while another person might

have more like emotional and romantic boundaries.

But most of those boundaries are just like assumed from what we all know about monogamous

relationships that we've seen in the media and with the people in our lives.

So for polyam relationships, we really don't have as much to go on in terms of positive

examples, so it's a lot of trial and error.

Figure out what works for you and your partner or partners, and talk about it.

Communication is always the key in any relationship.

Like, some people might want to be in a relationship between three people.

Some might want to be in a couple that occasionally brings in a third.

Some might want to be with other people sexually, while some might want to be with other people romantically.

It's different for every relationship.

"What are the do's and don'ts?"

Okay, do: Communicate.

I've said this like five times already but imma keep saying it.

Communication is so important to any relationship.

Do: Trust your partner.

If you're in a relationship with someone who you don't trust, it's probably not

a great relationship.

Do: Set clear boundaries for the relationship.

Unclear or unspoken boundaries are how people get hurt.

Don't assume anything.

If you're confused about anything in the relationship, talk about it.

Don't: Pressure people in polyamory against their will.

Obviously you have to take into account power dynamics here.

Like, sometimes one person in a relationship has more power in the relationship than the

other, and you have to recognize that and be very careful not to pressure your partner.

Suggesting polyamory isn't bad, talking about the pros and cons of polyamory isn't

bad, but if after all of that, your partner is still saying no, don't pressure them

or force them to be polyamorous.

That's really shitty and toxic and not cool.

Don't: Act superior to monogamous people.

We've already kinda talked about this, but monogamy and polyamory are just different.

One isn't better than the other.

"How do you pick teams on board game night?"

I liked this question because I didn't realize people still have board game nights?

Like that sounds hella fun but I just don't know anyone who does that.

I think the real problem, if you had more than two people in your relationship, would

be playing co-op games together.

You might just have to switch off, or hope that one person in the relationship doesn't

like video games.

"How do you approach the topic with a partner who doesn't know anything about it?"

Uh, very cautiously?

I think a lot of people have this knee-jerk reaction that if you're considering polyamory

you must be unhappy with your current monogamous relationship.

And I guess, to a degree, that's true, like you do want to be in a different kind of relationship,

but I don't think it actually negatively reflects on your partner.

Like it's entirely possible to love your partner and think the world of them, but also

want to be polyamorous.

So, I don't know if this is possible, but you really want to make that as clear as you

can when you bring it up to them.

Like tell them that you love them and it isn't about them personally, it's just something

that you would like to try.

I can't guarantee it will go over well, but I think it's probably better to try

and talk about it with your partner, rather than just bottling it up and never talking

about it until it really eats away at you.

And also, like I was just talking about, be aware of the power dynamics in your relationship

and be extremely careful not to pressure your partner.

Because if they feel like you're going to break up with them if they don't try polyamory,

they might feel pressured to go along with it even though they don't really want to.

So it's important to keep that in mind, and make sure that if your partner does agree

to try non-monogamy, that they're doing so enthusiastically and not because they feel

pressured by you.

"Do you want more than one partner because you feel like one partner alone isn't good

enough for you or can't please you?"

I actually get this question a lot, and often times I hear it from people when I tell them

I'm not monogamous.

Like they'll say something like, "If my partner said they wanted to be polyamorous,

I would feel like I did something wrong or wasn't good enough."

And I think all of that is based on a really inaccurate idea of what polyamory is.

Like, the typical monogamous idea is that one person should fulfill all of your romantic

and sexual needs, and the only reason you would ever want to be with someone else, is

if they're not fulfilling all of those needs.

But, I think that way of looking at relationships doesn't work for everybody.

Like, if a polyam person is in a relationship with two people, it's not that one person

is fulfilling half of their needs and the other person is fulfilling the other half.

It's that both meet the person's needs, just in different ways.

I don't think people have this finite amount of romantic and sexual needs that they're trying to fill.

Like, two people could be deeply in love when a third person comes along and makes both of them happy.

I don't think they need to shut that person out and be like, "Sorry, we already make

each other happy."

That may be true, but it's also possible they could be happy with this third person.

Framing it as one partner not being "enough" sets up this idea that everyone in a non-monogamous

relationship is somehow not doing enough or is not good enough, and I think that's bullshit.

I think plenty of people have happy, healthy relationships with multiple people.

You can be having your romantic and sexual needs met, and still take pleasure in experiencing

different romantic or sexual things with another person.

Not all romantic and sexual feelings are the same.

I think you can experience really positive romantic and sexual feelings in different

ways for different people at the same time.

"If you're in a relationship with more than one person do you give all equal attention?"

I don't have personal experience with this, because even though my girlfriend and I are

non-monogamous, there's just two of us in the relationship.

But I know that people have all sorts of different configurations.

Like some couples have a third person who knows that their role is being kind of secondary

to the couple, while others have three people in a relationship who are all in love with

each other and presumably try to pay equal attention to each other.

Sometimes the two or three people in a relationship might all have different secondaries who don't

know each other, or other times two couples might be in a relationship together with the four them.

Again, communication is huge here.

You'd need to figure out what works with your life and your relationship.

"If you have multiple partners, how do you deal with events where you're supposed to bring a +1?"

Damn, I don't know.

I guess see if you can get another +1?

Or hopefully one of your partners doesn't wanna go.

I don't know.

I guess that's just monogamous privilege.

"How do other people treat you when they find out you're not monogamous?"

I think it's mostly surprise and then sometimes like just confused disbelief.

Like they don't really believe that non-monogamous people exist and they're like trying to

run through in their head all the questions that they have about it.

I think it's just so rarely talked about that when it is brought up, people are shocked

that it's a real thing.

"Can polyamorous people cheat?"

Yes, absolutely, they can.

I think it might be less common, since you could probably just tell your partner or partners

who you wanna have sex with, but cheating can happen in any relationship.

Cheating is about lying or crossing a boundary.

In a typical monogamous relationship, there's an unspoken contract that you won't have

sex with anyone else except for your partner.

So if you do that, you're crossing a boundary that you had set up.

And unless you tell your partner immediately afterwards, you're probably lying about

it, or at least trying to hide it from them.

So in a polyamorous relationship, if you set up some sort of boundary, and your partner

crosses that boundary and lies about it, it's definitely cheating.

If your rule is simply, "We tell each other everyone who we're having sex with," and

then your partner has sex with someone without telling you, that's cheating.

This is why it's so important to set up clear boundaries in polyamorous relationships,

otherwise you might end up doing something that you don't think is cheating, but your partner does.

So yeah, polyamorous people can cheat.

But also doesn't mean that all polyamorous people are cheaters.

I mean, a lot of monogamous people cheat too.

"Do you have to be bisexual to be polyamorous?"

Nooo definitely not.

I'm polyam but not bisexual.

You can definitely have a polyam relationship where you're only with people of a certain gender.

Like three girls being in a relationship, or two guys being in a relationship who both

have different guys as secondaries.

Something like that.

"Are all bisexual people polyamorous?"

Nooo, again, definitely not.

Some bisexual people are monogamous, and some are polyamorous.

It really depends on the person.

I do think that with bisexual people there is an added level of stigma though because

of the shitty stereotype that bisexual people are more promiscuous or whatever.

So I think often times bi people feel a pressure to be super monogamous to kinda disprove that

stereotype of them, and bi polyam people get shit from kinda all sides because people think

they're just living up to the stereotype.

So it's all a mess, but basically, bisexual people can monogamous or polyamorous, and

both options are totally okay.

Your sexual orientation is separate from your feelings about monogamy.

"How do you respond to people who say that they could never be polyamorous because they

love their partner too much?"

I think this goes back to a lot of the stuff I was talking about with having a finite amount

of romantic and sexual needs.

Like, even well-meaning people often say stuff like, "I love my partner too much to be

polyamorous," and I know they don't mean that in a bad way, but the implication is

that I don't love my partner enough because I'm polyam.

But I don't think people have like one unit of love that they can give away, and once

it's given, they have no more love to give.

I think you can share your love with multiple people and that doesn't diminish the love

that you have for any one of those people.

I think people who say they "love their partner too much to be polyamorous" could

probably find a better way of phrasing that, like saying that they would feel too jealous,

or they wouldn't have the emotional energy, or they just have no desire to be with anyone else.

Polyam folks are just as capable of love as monogamous folks are.

"Don't people in polyamorous relationships just end up getting hurt?"

I mean, most people in monogamous relationships just end up getting hurt.

Like, most people are serially monogamous.

They're in a string of different monogamous relationships throughout their life.

So most of those end in breakups and in people getting hurt.

I think most monogamous people can remember a time they were in a relationship and got hurt.

Yeah, polyamorous people break up, and they get hurt, and they make mistakes -- but that

happens in every other kind of relationship too.

Some polyamorous people end up in a really happy longterm situations, so it definitely

works for some people.

And that is all of the questions.

Feel free to leave more questions in the comments below, if you have any -- and if you're

polyamorous, tell me about your experiences in the comments!

Thanks so much for watching!

I'll see you next time.
