Courtois: 'Arsenal will miss Alexis but they still have quality' - SPORTS NEWS - Duration: 3:48.

Courtois: 'Arsenal will miss Alexis but they still have quality'

Speaking ahead of Arsenal v Chelsea in the Community Shield on 6 August, Courtois admitted that while he'd prefer it if Alexis didn't play, since he's a great player, the Gunners would cope if he leaves for good this summer.

"Alexis is a guy with a lot of quality. If you see all the games from last season there is a lot of danger coming from him," the goalkeeper said, reports the Evening Standard.

"He has a very strong shot, he is quick. He has the technique. He is important for them but Arsenal have a lot of players with quality.

"So they will miss him but I think they have a lot of players with that quality to replace him. I think they have bought a good new striker (in Lacazette).

"I'd prefer if he (Sanchez) doesn't play because he is a good player! But we cannot only look to him.

"For example in the FA Cup Final (Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in May) they missed some defenders and everybody thought they would be bad. But Per Mertesacker played a great game that day.

"So you cannot look to the team as one player or another player. It will be a difficult game regardless but I hope for the same outcome as the friendly last week.".

Arsenal previously lost 3-0 to Chelsea during their pre-season match in Bejing, and if the Gunners play how they did against Sevilla during the Emirates Cup on Sunday, they may need more than just Alexis to help them get a result at Wembley.

Whether the Chilean will be available to play, let alone start, is unknown. The 28-year-old was supposed to return to training on Sunday but this was pushed back to Tuesday because, according to Arsene Wenger, he's suffering from the flu.

The boss claims that Alexis will fly back to London on Monday. On whether he'll be ready for the start of the season, Wenger said, "I don't know, you have to assess his physical state.

This will give Alexis just five days at the most of training before the Community Shield and that's only if he does indeed return on Tuesday as predicted.

According to Arsenal.com, the boss also reiterated that, yes, for the 100th time, Alexis will stay at Arsenal next season, saying, "Yes of course. How many times have I told you that?".

From the outside, the forward's future at Arsenal appears to be up in the air, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both being heavily linked with the star, who wants to play Champions League football.

Wenger, however, maintains that nothing has changed and that Alexis will stay at Arsenal next season for the final year of his contract, whether he signs a new one of not.

As Courtois says, Alexis is replaceable. However, his goals, which he scored 30 of last season, will be missed.

It's Your Money But You Can't Have It EU Proposes Freezing Bank Accounts to Bailout Megabanks - Duration: 5:58.

Its Your Money But You Cant Have It EU Proposes Freezing Bank Accounts to Bailout

Megabanks

By Claire Bernish

After nervous customers panicked and drained their accounts, ultimately causing the collapse

of Spanish bank, Banco Popular, equally jittery European Union officials are debating the

merits of freezing access preventing anyone from withdrawing any money at the first

sign of a bank run.

Proponents claim measures to halt a rush of withdrawals would prevent the downfall of

floundering financial institutions at their most vulnerable point in hopes of staving

off a catastrophe at least as harrowing as that of 2008 while detractors admonish

the move might have precisely the opposite effect, with investors rushing to yank funds

at the slightest indication of trouble.

The desire is to prevent a bank run, so that when a bank is in a critical situation

it is not pushed over the edge, a person familiar with German governments thinking

told Reuters.

Giving supervisors the power to temporarily block bank accounts at ailing lenders is a

feasible option, a paper prepared by the Estonian presidency of the EU said, acknowledging

that member states were divided on the issue, Reuters reports.

EU countries which already allow a moratorium on bank payouts in insolvency procedures at

national level, like Germany, support the measure, officials said.

A cursory autopsy of last months Banco Popular failure had economic officials scrambling

to figure out how best to prevent a similar financial debacle; but the idea of cutting

customers access to their own funds when conditions warrant, blasts apart a Pandoras

Box of potentialities all, favoring the State and banking industry over individual

customers.

While officials contend cutting off account access would theoretically prevent a bank

already in distress from going under, when scores of people withdraw money at once, the

proposal toes a fraught but sacrosanct line blocking government overreach from private,

individual finance.

According to the Estonian paper perused by Reuters, an additional measure proposed the

development of a mechanism whereby customers in such a situation could withdraw at least

a limited amount of funds.

We strongly believe that this would incentivize depositors to run from a bank at an early

stage, Charlie Bannister of the banking lobby group, Association for Financial Markets

in Europe (AFME), told Reuters, alluding to the possible whiplash effect described above.

Envoys of the European Union originally discussed these withdrawal restrictions on July 13,

with further talks set for September, but lawmakers would have to concur before any

variant of the plan could be put in place.

Continues Reuters:

The plan, if agreed, would contrast with legislative proposals made by the European

Commission in November that aimed to strengthen supervisors powers to suspend withdrawals,

but excluded from the moratorium insured depositors, which under EU rules are those below 100,000

euros ($117,000).

Under the plan discussed by EU states, pay-outs could be suspended for five working

days and the block could be extended to a maximum of 20 days in exceptional circumstances,

the Estonian document said.

Existing EU rules allow a two-day suspension of some payouts by failing banks, but the

moratorium does not include deposits.

In fact, only just now have insured deposits debuted as a target for the withdrawal moratorium,

as authorities previously felt such a move may have a negative impact on market confidence.

Nevertheless, economic and banking troubles have hit several European nations in recent

years, such as the Cyprus fiasco, as described by Bitcoinist,

Back in 2013, Cyprus banking crisis was a hairs breadth away from a total economic

collapse.

Cypriot banks were desperate for a bailout from the EU and IMF and many account holders

feared that their deposits would vanish.

This fear caused a classic bank run and people were rushing to banks and ATMs in order to

withdraw as much money as they could.

Inevitably, cash became scarce and the ATMs stopped working.

Many saw Bitcoin as the last option to secure their funds.

With severely curtailed faith in Western and central banking institutions, that European

Union insiders would look first to penalize customers for a banks poor planning and

management in the midst of a theoretical future crisis typifies the impetus for throngs of

people riding the tumultuous cryptocurrency wave as far away from Big Banks as possible.

Considering officials now hope to revoke access to bank accounts at perhaps the time customers

would most need it, the marriage of State and finance obviates how insignificant the

needs of the so-called little guy when the government sees only green.

So how many of you are at work like,

Oh my God, I'm so tired I can't even function.

But then, when it's time to go to bed, you

just lay there and are like,

Why can't I sleep?

Who invented microwaves?

How does the internet even work?

Have you ever thought the light around you

might have something to do with that?

Lightbulb maker Ketra does and they've invented

an ambient lightbulb that syncs with nature.

During the day, light is crisp and bright.

In the evening it's warm and cozy

signaling to your brain that it is time to wind down.

Of course, you can control the ambience with your smart phone or

So that way, your dinner guest won't wish

they had worn their PJs or anything.

CNN 10 - August 3, 2017 | A look at Korean reunions for which some people have waited a lifetime - Duration: 10:01.

Welcome to Friday. And thank you for spending ten minutes of it with CNN STUDENT NEWS. It`s

a little bit of a different look for us today. We mentioned yesterday that opposing groups

in Ukraine looked like they were headed toward a truce. Hopes for that crumbled yesterday.

And violence got worse, between protesters and police. The protesters say police had

snipers firing at them, and that 100 people had been killed. The government isn`t saying

how many were killed, but it says demonstrators were kidnapping police officers. This all

goes back to the Ukrainian president`s decision last year to sign a trade deal with Russia.

It would help Ukraine`s economy, but some Ukrainians wanted a deal with the European

Union instead, and the divisions deepened.

Because you have to look at where Ukraine is located, because this really is the historic

divider between Russia and the rest of Europe. Right, Max?

Yeah, historians think the country`s name actually means borderlands. So the sense of

being in between is really baked in to Ukraine`s identity.

And it`s only about 900 miles, if you were to drive down to Sochi, where the Olympics

are going on right now. Let`s talk about the makeup of this country, Max.

Yeah, it`s about the size of Texas, and its 45 million people. So, it`s big.

OK. Now, why did all of this launch? It really goes back to something that happened in November

with the European Union.

Yeah. Ukraine was considering a deal for great economic integration with the European Union.

And a lot of Ukrainians like this because they thought it was a good deal, and they

liked the idea of being a part of Europe, but they didn`t get that.

They got a very different deal, indeed. What happened?

So, what happened is Ukraine`s surprised everybody by taking a deal with Russia instead for about

$15 billion in bailout in cheaper natural gas?

And so those who opposed it, who wanted the European Union deal, then turned their attention,

even more so, on the president.

Yeah. President Viktor Yanukovych who`s seen by a lot of Ukrainians as corrupt, he`d been

ousted in protests in 2004 previously. He`s seen as very cozy with Russia. It`s actually

- Russian is his native language. So when he took this deal, people thought well, he`s

sold out our country to Moscow.

So, in many ways, what this comes down to, is a historic division. And this has always

been like two countries in one space and now it`s coming to a hit.

Yeah, that`s right. So, if you look at this map, this purple western half, this actually

mostly speaks Ukrainian. That`s where Kiev is, that`s where most of the protests are.

The eastern half - people mostly speak Russian. That`s where Yanukovych is from. People have

a little more fondness for the old ties to Russia. So, what you are seeing play out is

this identity crisis Ukraine has had since its independence between are we a European

country or are we facing more towards Russia.

And of course, there is a big poll from both sides from Europeans and from the United States

and others saying you should be free to do what you want and from the Russian side, because

bear in mind: this was the region that went it was part of the Soviet Empire produced

one quarter of all the agricultural products. It is a huge trading partner to Russia.

Parents, children, brothers, sisters divided for more than 60 years. It`s like they`ve

lived one state away from each other, but the line that separates them is between North

and South Korea, countries whose governments have been in odd since the Korean War.

And people aren`t able to travel freely between them. Reunions between dozens of North and

South Koreans are going ahead, even though North Korea had threatened to cancel them

earlier this month.

Kim Sung Yung (ph) is 96 years old. The oldest person at this reunion. Her father urged her

to walk hundreds of miles from North to South Korea at the start of the Korean War. Her

sister was too young to join her. They are final reunited more than 60 years later.

This reunions are so rare, and those picked so elderly, even illness couldn`t keep them

away. 90-year old Kim Sung Kian (ph) was transported in an ambulance and attended the reunion hooked

up to an I.V. drip. Determined a bout of the flue wouldn`t ruin his only chance to see

his son and daughter.

CNN affiliate YTN quotes him as saying, even if I die now, if I have seen my family, I

will die in peace.

Every single story is heartbreaking. And a stark reminder of the pain of the people divided.

The Korean War ended in a stalemate in 1953. Without any regular forms of communications

between the two Koreas, families have gone decades without contact. Even this contact

was monitored. North Korean officials stood by every table, listening to every conversation.

For some, the overwhelming emotion was simply too much. Tens of thousands of Koreans applied

to be part of this reunion. Those that were picked already had one disappointment last

September when the meeting was canceled at the last minute. These reunions are bitter

sweet. The joy of being reunited is tainted by the fact they only spend a total of 11

hours together, before going back to their separate lives knowing that their good bye

is permanent. Paula Hancocks, CNN, Seoul. A lot of people have temporary loneliness,

the kind that comes when you move to a new city or school. But for those who live with

it, day in and day out, it`s a serious condition. One that doctors say can significantly affect

your health. It can keep you from getting good sleep. It can shorten your life. CNN`s

Dr. Sanjay Gupta recently contributed to a PSA called "Just Say Hello." It encourages

people to do that, say hello to strangers or folks they hadn`t heard from in a while.

Here`s why. What sort of struck me as - from a physical standpoint, if someone`s having

a heart problem, for example, you may know to go over there and pump on their chest.

If someone is suffering from loneliness or something, we tend to avoid those people.

They are loners. They are people who are sort of, and we know these people in our buildings,

in our workplace. And this was part of this campaign, it was trying to address that particular

issue. Recognizing that loneliness by itself is a risk factor for so many different things.

For those who are lonely, ways of addressing it include becoming active. Getting involved

in activities, clubs or places of faith like church. Actual pictures of Glenn in the capsule

was the 52 anniversary of when astronaut John Glenn made those trips around the Earth. He

was the first American in orbit, and in 1998, he went back up on the Space Shuttle Discovery

becoming the oldest person ever to travel in space. That time, he was 77. Glenn is more

than an astronaut. Throughout his life, he`s served as a Marine fighter pilot, a test pilot,

a U.S. senator. He worked as an adjunct professor at Ohio State University. And in 2012, he

was awarded the presidential Medal of Freedom. Isaac Lufkin is accomplished in his own right.

He`s only 14, but as a freshman, he helped classical high school in Providence, Rhode

Island to win the freshman football state title. Lufkin was born without arms. But he

takes a no excuses approach to everything he does. His continuing success story, on

and off the field, has gotten him national recognition. Lufkin who is featured on our

show earlier this month, was a VIP at this year Super Bowl. He met former president Bill

Clinton while he was there. And he just received a letter of praise from President Obama. It

says, Lufkin`s achievements remind people of what can be accomplished when they work

hard and stay focused on reaching their goals. On yesterday`s CNN STUDENT NEWS "Roll Call"

Arsenal Lacazette vs Chelsea's Morata – A Comparison Do Decide Who Will Have A Bigger Impact - Duration: 5:45.

Arsenal's Lacazette vs Chelsea's Morata – A Comparison Do Decide Who Will Have A Bigger Impact?

Alexandre Lacazette vs Alvaro Morata – Who Will Come Out On Top This Season?.

New Premier League season is about to begin and Chelsea, the reigning champions, had a sluggish inception of their summer transfer window when Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku was snapped up by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho under the nose of the Blues gaffer Antonio Conte.

The London heavyweights, however, did not waste too much time to land an alternative and brought in Spanish forward Alvaro Morata from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Arsenal, their city rivals, are not far behind and despite missing out on a top four finish for the first time in two decades, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is determined to take them back in prestigious Champions League competition and has brought in French marksman Alexandre Lacazette from Ligue1 outfit Olympic Lyon following his persistent high-scoring campaigns for his boyhood side.

Lukaku, the ex-Evertonian striker, is arguably an invulnerable option due to his Premier League proficiency and both Morata and Lacazette might take the time to settle down in a new environment.

Both of them have great scoring records for their previous outfits but Lacazette has a greater success ratio in front of goal, in club career.

However, his overall impact has not been convincing enough and despite his high scoring campaigns, the Frenchman struggled against the heavyweights like Paris St-Germain, Monaco and also for his country (netted only once in 11 outings).

French League, with all due respect, is no more considered as one of Europe's toughest leagues, thus, Premier League will be a completely new challenge for the new Arsenal recruit.

Morata, on the other hand, holds much bigger experience and is also a regular for the Spain national team.

The 24-year old Castilla graduate struggled to break into a star-studded Real Madrid lineup and failed to replace their front trio of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and iconic Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, he proved his quality in the limited opportunities he received and enjoyed two impressive campaigns before that, with Serie A champions Juventus.

Although Morata is immensely talented and has the potential of becoming one of world's finest forwards, he needs to play regularly at this point of time and a move to Chelsea makes sense, particularly following marksman Diego Costa's rift with the Italian gaffer that resulted in an inevitable egress despite his highly successful stint with the Blues.

Morata might not be able to replicate Costa's feat at the very beginning, but he will have an opportunity to be groomed by one of the world's finest managers and can prove to be another shrewd piece of business on the long run.

It is tough to predict who will have a better debut campaign in world's most competitive football league.

Both might struggle initially, nevertheless, they are competent enough to take up such an exciting challenge and are tipped to flourish in due course. Morata will be explored up front alongside Eden Hazard and Pedro (or Willian).

Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso – the wing backs will provide attacking flair and this might create plenty of opportunities for the young Spaniard.

Lacazette, meanwhile, is known for his goal-poaching traits but lacks participation in the build-ups. Wenger, thus, needs to deploy him in a free role in order to make him get accustomed to the Gunners' style of football.

Lacazette will have plenty of opportunities to score if Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez is retained despite his Champions League aspirations. Else, he will have added responsibilities of creating chances as well as scoring goals.

Lacazette to come out on top, purely because of the quality behind him being better than that of Morata's. Sanchez is obviously better than Hazard and Ozil is easily the best creator in world football.

With Arsenal shifting to a 'back-3' formation, the attacking flair provided by Alonso and Moses at Chelsea would be bettered by Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sead Kolasinac – once again, both of them are better than Chelsea's stars.

It's Lacazette's time to break Arsenal's 'No.

Love Island's Gabby admit they 'watched Amber and Kem have s...x in the pool'

LOVE Islands Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies famously had sex all over the villa – and it seems they werent too bothered about who was watching.

Fellow islanders Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville admit they saw the winning couple have sex in the villas swimming pool.

Marcel Somerville and Gabby Allen said they saw Kem and Amber have sex in the swimming pool.

Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies had sex in every room in the house according to Gabby.

While the pair famously waited until leaving the villa to have sex, Gabby told Now magazine they got used to their fellow couples doing the deed in front of them.

She said: We had to – Kem and Amber had sex in every room in the house!. Marcel added: We even saw them have sex in the pool.

Their comments come after Kember revealed they were challenged by the show bosses to have sex in as many places as possible.

The show champions – who walked away with the £50,000 prize money – werent afraid to get down and dirty in front of the cameras during their seven weeks in the villa.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Amber said: They jokingly set us a challenge to try and have sex in as many places as possible, but we didnt want to do that. They were incredible, though.

The Love Island winners recently revealed they had sex under a pool inflatable.

Gabby and Marcel famously waited until after the show to have sex.

"The next morning, if they knew wed had sex, they would always bring us into the Beach Hut and say: Are you okay?

Did you want it to happen? Was it protected? .

And the pair tried to get as adventurous as possible by having sex under an inflatable.

The Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies Love Island love story.

Amber explained theyd got intimate under the inflatable turtle in the swimming pool on Camillas birthday.

The 20-year-old beauty was initially unsure whether she wanted to have sex on screen because she was concerned that it would affect her career in the showbiz industry.

She said: Its a natural thing. Before, I thought Id rather not because it could backfire on me in the future, but everyone was doing it..

Kem added: It was always going to happen. We wouldnt have been able to last seven weeks.

Kem and Amber beat Gaby and Marcel into fourth place on the show.
