Make F3K great again...why I am addicted to F3K flying!

Hi folks, it´s me sitting in my kitchen talking to you.

Some of you may have seen my other video about F3K

And now I would like to make video, why I am doing this and what my plans are for the future

Thoughts about F3K...and what a man can do!?

Well, during the last few weeks I had some thoughts about F3k, due to the fact, that there are no contests because of bad weather!

If I have a look out of the window, wheather is quite unsteady!

Some of our contests had been cancelled

And during that time I thought about making DLG flying more popular in germany

And now I´d like to share my thoughts with you!

First I asked myself, what is special for me about F3K flying

I could imagine, that my intentions are like others too

Of course it is one one hand the sportive aspect of that kind of flying, those contest atmosphere

but on the other hand i have to admit, as I first entered this scenery two yearas ago

I realized from the beginning what kind of crazy people (in a positive way) there are

what kind of crazy people you are

and I asked my self, what could be the reason, because I had never experienced that kind of community before

When talking to other pilots, I picked out, that some of the guys are flying since they were kids.

Personally it was a bit different. When I had been flying the last time, before an 30 year break, the Graupner Dandy was top of the notch :-)

After 30 years of break I began to do airmodelling again, that must be about 3 or 4 years ago from now

So many things changed, 2,4ghz appeared ..that might sound funny to you but for me it was a completely new world

and I still have my personal left-right-weakness, but it was important for me to get back in flying again.

Praising social media I came relatively fast to the rc network forum in germany, not immidiately came to Hand launch, I informed about model flying in common first.

I bought an styro waffle, not in a contamptuos manner, I was thankful, that they are available....

I liked them, because even after the biggest crash you could fix them easily

Old rule: when flying vice versa, it´s better to push the elevator :-)

Some time ago, I found those guys from Flite Test on YouTube, those american guys, who are doing crazy stuff in modeling and there was this swedish guy (David Windestal), who presented DLG flying

And I was instantly flashed!

I don´t know why, because as a young gun, models have to be fast, loud and there has to be this smell of fuel at the fingers, to be the real thing!

But this DLG thing was of course completely different (stuttering dumbass alarm :-) )

Well, I informed myself in forums about that topic then and searched in german forums and found this hand launch thread in rc network,

and relatively fast found Jan-Henning (Grotz), the founder of the Whirli DLG

And from him I had my first DLG, the outstanding Whirli 5, the "pink danger"

And as Jan-Henning presented my that DLG live in the air, I was standing there slack-jawed, can´t believ, what I saw...this somehow majestic plane in the air

I don´t want to do epic phrases, but that was by far the collest thing, I had ever seen so far!

Bought it, took it home..unfortunately I destroyed it way too fast....(shame on me)

Ahem, but after that I showed up at my first contest In september 2015 in Hamburg (at Barney)

Since then I was addicted to that kind of flying!

The whole package: the community, but of course this style of flying, the combination of athleticism, technique, thermaling

In my opinion this is so extraordinary great sport, such an extraordinary hobby (DLGflying) that I decided myself to promote that somehow

Now I come back to the main topic of the video, what I contrived myself to do!

Personally, I am not member of a specific modelclub. I have got a single membership in the DMFV (big model association in germany).

So my first intention was, to ask the DMFV if the have got a specific department for F3K.

They have got sport departments for many other modelsport classes, like F5J or others...but not for F3K!

So I wrote an Email, to ask if a department for F3K is planned and asked for the department topic in general, but the answer was not very satisfying. But in that direction it would cool, if there would be something like an counterpart for F3K. Of course, we have an F3K spokesman, Peer Schmidt, who is from the DAEC, that is great....and of course Peer is also great (*kiss*)

But I think it is inportant, to promote this to the youth in the modelling clubs

Allo over, people where stunned about that flying, when they see me, never saw this before....and I don´t mean a man of middle age, who is quite delicate who is tripping over the meadow, trying to start his model *grin*

Second intention was to got to the local clubs and ask, if this kind of flying is known there.

When we made a contest on a flying field from a local club, the resonance was absolutely great, so they invited us to host the contest again next year...because the DLG topic has been new to all of them!

Besides that, I tried to write some artciles for well known modell magazines here in germany. For this I contacted the wm-mediengesellschaft, who are editor of the Modell Aviator and the Modellflieger, the magazine from the DMFV with over 80.000 members, who get this magazine home for free.

That would be nice, if they could publish an article about the F3K topic in common, to present our sport, I think, I am able to do that, even when I am not the best pilot, but I think I could spot out, what this sport means to us with all his advantages around, chiefly to encourage new pilots, to take part in a contest for example

I talked to a friend of mine, Walther (Bednarz), he had got the great idea, to visit a great model airshow with thousands of spectators and maybe there a handful of pilots could demonstrate the DLG flying and show what it is about to go thermaling out of the hand. And afterwards may be reply to the spectators questions about our sport!

I can imagine, I had the same feelings years ago, that pilots, who are new to that sport, have got fears of contact, to take part at a contest.

Personally it took lots of time, till I went ot a contest, because I did not wnat to blame myself.....so in the end i did..nearly....not :-)

But in the end it was overwhelming, you are instantly part of the community and everyone is helping, even with the dumbest questions! You get those tricks and hints, that you can´t get, when flying for years on your own meadow alone, of course you will know your model better after the years, but you will never learn about tactic e.g.

I remember those funny faces, when I was asking about "what direction shall I stick, when in thermals?"

Left? Right? Yes, it´s getting better right now, I always drwaing left and right on my hands, and my mate Gerald, when coaching me, always tipped my shoulder where to fly (just kidding)

Another great thing would be...there so many great pilots out there, like Elmar Bachmann, by the way, congratulations to you. Elmar got team world champion withe Germany at the Ukraine this year together with Martin Herrig and Max Finke. Absolutely great job in that nasty conditions.

Also we have got our Junior Philipp Berger, who missed the Fly-offs so close, but did a great job out there, Paul Stark also great flying (forgot Joris to name, sorry for that, he also did great)

You guys are flying so many different models. It would be great, if you could do a review of your models with all those flight chracteristics. that would be a great effort for Beginners to point out, what model they should choose.

Important is to point it out as neutral as possible, of course I could ask Vincent Merlijn, the world champpion (congrats Vincent) about the CX-5...he would say :"Super plane!"

Lots of models are designed especially to the needs of some top pilots, we all know that

But I would lie, if I am not curious to get this CX-5 in my hands, he he!

Of course, I like to touch him...ahem... the CX-5 I mean....

But this would be great for sure, where beginner in DLG´ing would be thankful, because they could easilypoint out then, which model fits their needs. Of course, when you are new, you have a limited budget, lots of models may be too expensive

But maybe there is an super allrounder plane or something, taht would help!

If I could affort all of these birds....I would buy tem all and had 30 planes or so....but I can´t, so I have only 20....ok..to be honest 10....5.....at least 3...

Just kidding, I would like that, if we could have a summery of all those plane soutside!

Another thing is, I will try to make some videos about news in the F3K community, because I also read the rc groups forum, and this is often the first place, whre new models are presented or other topics come first, so that I maybe collect all those things and make a short video...

I will try to make this, because it´s fun doing that, of course, otherwise I would not do it (donation adress is displayed later on :-)

joke apart, it is really fun to do that and i started doing a video review about The Fireblade...whay the Fireblade? Because it is such a great model...and it is the only one I got (just kidding)

Of course not, I also got the NXT, but I am still fighting with it, maybe I have chosen wrong settings, right now it feels lik a wasp on ecstasy, but I will figure that out for sure soon!

I will do a review of the NXT for sure, should have amusement value but also be serious of course. I will do that from my perspective, and if I can handle the model, than anyone else can do aswell, because I am not the best pilot, to be honest ;-)

Of course there will be flight footage and launches. I launch relatively high, not the best technique, so the model has to be tough :-)

I will also take the camera to the contest, to do some filming, because it´s nice, to see some scenes afterwards and maybe some situation, where others also glad, that they are captured on video.

Right now in germany only Norbert Wigbels has been doing some constant filming of contests, that was always fun to watch afterwards.

Well, that happens, when not switching off the cell phone while filming, ha ha

Well, I´d like to come to the end....in case you have got ideas to promote F3K, I would be thankful to here from you.

On thing..I could imagine, that public youth work in clubs is only doing by single pilots. Of cxourse, the first generations of sons (and daughters) is coming to flying, that is great

But other countries are way more advanced, for example in eastern europe, there is a huge dlg community, F3K is way more popular there. By the way big thanks to Nick Wu for broadcasting during the World Chamionships...that was a thriller to follow your reports :-) and I am happy to live in northern germany, we have got a healthy dlg community here, in middle, east or south germany, it is way different.

But to be honest..there are always the same old beloved faces at the contest

And I would like to conduce of the popularity of DLG flying anyhow, you can call me sentimental,but I want to do something. And it would be absolutely great, if someone is thinking the same and supports this with an article or someting else, or tell me, what you wish to have as a topic for an article, which is stringently required to be told.

Or maybe some other kind of promotion, which is not been told yet.

Maybe you don´t want that at all, but I would be keen about any response, because in my opinion our great hobby sport is worth it

And right now I am looking forward to the next contest, to see all you familiar guys again, and hopefully some new faces in the dlg community

after unsuccessful search for pliers I grabbed my closest knife and tingled

now let's take this little trigger bar let's remove it but as you can see is in

a housing once you take that trigger bar you can just go ahead and

take off that trigger

what I did was I installed the trigger bar side of their spring into this

trigger bar yeah so and then what I found was probably the most logical way

to do this was to attach the spring to the other side and then dangle the

Audience interaction in community type of stuff so we decided to go ahead and do a community event called Septic art

Where everybody got together and drew stuff which was so cool?

I went through some of them over the week and I'd seen them throughout their through my social medias

And I was trying I was holding off and something because I wanted to go through them in this video

But they're really good a lot of you are so freaking talented and thanks to everyone who actually got involved with it, too

a lot of people are very very excited about it and just took it on board and went with it and thought it was a

Cool event. So thank you for that cuz I know it can sound kind of self-indulgent for it's like hey

Let's do a community of it. Hey draw art

Because I wasn't trying to make it seem like I was telling you what to do or anything?

There's not be a fun idea to get people all involved in something for a week

And you did in drugs, and I was insane there was way more in the actual

So apologies if some of the ones that I showed or actually your pieces of artwork

But they were submitted by somebody else

I really do it's it's hard to figure out who's actually drawing these types of things without any sort of prior knowledge to it

So apologies on that front. I'm so freaking happy you guys are the best you really do

Like get involved in all as this sort of stuff

And I love it and I love how active you are and some of you are so freaking talented

And I hope you keep that creative spark going

because that was another kind of reason to do this was that there's so many creative people out there as I see a lot of

Creatively blocked or people saying that they can't draw

Or different things like that getting very negative about themselves

I think this type of stuff is such a great creative outlet for people, and I'm so happy to see

I also think that we can use this type of format this type of

Like community event type of stuff to do other cool stuff. I think we could work in

Video type of stuff or written stuff even we could do some charity stuff with this type of format

Not the design thing special or anything like that

But the way the community comes together for a week because I was always a firm believer that

The Community was great and fantastic, and you could do great things if you really came together

So this was kind of just a test to to show that and I'm really glad people got on board with it

So I-I want to do more with it

I want to try and give back a whole lot more because

That's all this youtube stuff has ever been about is to just try and make people laugh make people happy give back to the world

if I can give back in any sort of capacity at all I know it seems a bit weird to

Spend an hour looking at pictures of yourself, and then talk about giving back. I know, bigger picture

But you know what I mean

It's nice to try and like bring people together

And it's try and spread that joy and spread some sort of motivation or creativity with people

So I think that we as a community can do really great things if we really put our minds to it
