LFC agree to P. Coutinho's Barcelona move and will now negotiate his stunning £148million exit - Duration: 2:59.

Liverpool agree to Philippe Coutinho's Barcelona move and will now negotiate his stunning £148million exit

LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to negotiate Philippe Coutinho's big-money move to Barcelona. Spanish newspaper Sport claims the Reds have performed an incredible U-turn after owners Fenway Sports Group and Coutinho's representatives held a meeting with a "very positive outcome" on Friday.

Liverpool have agreed to negotiate Philippe Coutinhos move to Barcelona.

The Brazilian could end up moving in a deal worth nearly £148m. It's said that the Brazilian's continual pressure on Liverpool to let him up sticks for Barcelona has finally paid off.

And the Reds will now cash in to the sum of anywhere between £138million to £148m, with a replacement already in the works. As reported by SunSport earlier today, Liverpool have launched an incredible £55m bid for Monaco playmaker Thomas Lemar.

The France international is also wanted by Arsenal but could now be heading to Anfield as Coutinho's replacement. The report adds that Jurgen Klopp tried convincing the Liverpool board he could manage the situation and convince Coutinho to stay.

But the powers that be have decided they are better taking a massive wad of cash from Barca and using it to boost the squad days before the transfer deadline.

Jurgen Klopp was hoping to keep Coutinho at Anfield this season.

Fenway Sports Group have decided to cash in after meeting with Coutinhos representatives. The money could also help Liverpool finally land the new central midfielder they've been craving, with Renato Sanches the latest to be linked to Merseyside.

Bayern Munich left the ace out of their matchday squad at the weekend. And Sanches could now be set to join Lemar at Liverpool in a sensational double swoop.

Liverpool have already made a move for Monacos Thomas Lemar.

Bayern Munich ace Renato Sanches is also wanted in a big-money deal.   Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he would welcome back Philippe Coutinho after Barcelona transfer saga.

How 'Fuck-Up Nights' Will Save Your Business With Yannick Kwik. - Duration: 19:41.

We have the fuck-up riots which is festival of failures which is happening

in September 2017 and a gathering of fuckuppers so we can all meet each

other personally. So a lot of failure stories to come from there, and a lot of

things are gonna go wrong for sure!

Welcome to the Masks Off Podcast, Leadership Strategies No Disguises. I'm

Razwanna Wahid, and together with my co-host Olivier Larvor, we talk to

the smartest people in the world of leadership, change and psychology to give

leaders real strategies to bring human back to the workplace.

episode on your social media, it will help us greatly!

In this episode we talk

to Yannick Kwik, CEO of FuckUp Nights, talking about all things failure, when to

call it, how to celebrate it and the best way to learn from it.

YANNICK: FuckUp Night started in 2012 where the five co-founders, and I'm not one of the five

co-founders (I joined the team later on) , they were having some mezcal which

is a sort of a tequila Mexican drink, and they got drunk. They start to get

personal and they share their failure stories, their business failure stories

and besides being very good friends, they didn't know that

each of them had a failure story which was surprising. So they had a great

evening sharing all those crappy experiences between them. They had laughs

and tears, and they thought it was fantastic. They decided it would

be incredible to host an event where people could openly shared their business

and professional failure stories. So they met the day after (without being drunk) to

see if it was a good idea. They all agreed that indeed it was and they

decided to host the first FuckUp Night ever

in September 2012. They invited their friends, they selected three speakers

Obviously they were speakers as well. There were not a lot of brave speakers to be convinced

for the first ever chapter. They bought a couple of beers and it was the

first FuckUp Night on a very underground format. People loved it!

People asked to continue them. So they hosted one since

then every single month until now. I think we have hosted over 50 events

already for these almost five years. When they opened up the social media

platforms, the thing just bursted and all the city just wanted to replicate this

format. We sort of developed a franchise model where people could pay a

membership, and get the resources, use our brand, get our support and help

organizing Fuck Up Nights. The thing has gone wild and we're present in 230

cities, in 80 countries around the world. FuckUp Nights are hosted in 26

different languages and growing. now FuckUp Nights is just only one initiative of a

group where we also do research through the Failure Institute.

It's our research department. This is research based on data where we

identify trends and we try to predict failure depending on the country, on the

industry, on the gender etc... Then we have FuckUp Media. We're working on a

documentary, on a TV show and another different kind of media products. We

have the FuckUp Riots which is a festival of failures which is happening in

September 2017, and a gathering of fuckuppers, so we can all meet each other

personally. So a lot of failure stories to come from there and a lot of things

are gonna go wrong for sure!

RAZWANNA: what do you think it is about people gathering and finding

failures so attractive?

YANNICK: I think it is a taboo thing that is

sexy. I think there is a need on society. We've realized in countries

where people tend to be more straight, more perfect and more professional,

there's an increasing need of a space where people can freely talk about their

failures. I mean in those countries, FuckUp Nights are being more successful, let's say Mexico

for instance, let's say Germany etc... So I think it is just to get your tie off,

get your shoes off and and be yourself. OLIVIER: I notice that there's always alcohol

involved. When you said tequila first, and then, in the FuckUp nights you

will always have beers. So do you need actually something for people to relax?

It's almost to be vulnerable in front of others. You have to share and to

say:"Yeah, look, I've fucked up on this one". How difficult is

it for people to actually share their stories.

YANNICK: After a couple of beers, it's

easier to convince them to get on stage. Actually it's funny because we have

an organizers' manual you know, we call it the fuckuppers' manual, because we call

organizers "fuckuppers". We give them that manual with indications to follow, like a

mandatory point to bring beers on their events. Are you guys following me? OLIVIER: we are

but you're frozen on my screen, but I can hear you. YANNICK:

because you guys are frozen too. OK. OLIVIER: This is actually good because it shows

exactly what happens in real life. You know we are fucking it up! Let's continue. YANNIC: Fantastic!

OLIVIER: See how it goes, if we can

bring from this experience something good out of it!

so let's go!

YANNICK: Yeah, I got into the alcohol point. It's funny because we organize

FuckUP Nights in some Muslim countries and they are not sure about

organizing FuckUp Nights because they see alcohol consumption. We always let them

have tea or soft drinks. But basically, we want

people to feel a relaxed atmosphere when it comes to hear about failure

stories. And being true and being honest when it comes to talk about business

which there's a lack of honesty from my point of view when people talk

about their own businesses. How difficult it is to convince people to jump on

stage? It really depends on the person. What we always try to do is to let them

know that their failure story is going to be not only inspiring, but it's going to

help people take better or more informed decisions in business.

let me just move

because there's a little bit of sound here, sorry guys. RAZWANNA: Yannick, we had our own issues today to get connected.

I had to run around the building trying to find somewhere quiet here. So I think it is a running theme.

OLIVIER: this is what's happening you know, we are trying to build something and this is

day-to-day what actually businesses also experience. You want this to

be perfect, to run this and then this is what happens in reality. But at the same

time, in businesses, it's very hard to talk about

failures. So what is your point of view? Why do we have is this fear of sharing

our failures in companies?

YANNICK: well it's it's normal to have fear of failure

because failure sucks really. and people think we

love failing and it's not that we like failing, which we try as much as

possible to avoid failure because it's not good. It's a result of doing

something wrong, then you have to pay for it

but the bad thing is not analyzing those failures and not learning from them! Ao

if you don't build a space where people can talk about those failures without

being blamed for, we won't be able to learn from them, and that's has

repercussion for a company. Actually one of our most well fastest-growing revenue

streams is organising private events for corporations and big companies. So

we hosts and take the format of FuckUp Nights to an internal corporate event

and we get the CEOs or managers or employees to talk about their failures

on their day to a day, on their projects they're working on, on their previous

companies. It's very hard to get companies to accept this from management,

to accept their own failures. Especially if you have the CEO or a high executive

manager admitting they failed that X project in front of their companies. But

I've seen lately that there are a lot of companies figuring out that they have this need to accept failure in order to enable innovation,

and in order to enable a healthy culture in their company. So it's an increasing

thing, and it's great, because it's great for avoiding failures in the future.

It costs them less money because when you find out about a failure in the

early stage, it costs less than when people are quiet about that failure and

sometimes it's a bit too late to fix it. And also it's good for us because

there are more requests on those private events

RAZWANNA: Yannick, what are examples you can give us from those corporate events of

companies which had an evening talking about failures and then, the innovations

that they've gone on to create? YANNICK: it's quite difficult really to measure

the impact those events have on the companies, but through the Failure

Institute, our research arm, we've developed a tool where we send a specific survey

before the event and we send a specific survey after the event, and we can

measure changes on the culture of the company when it comes to accepting

failures. it has surprisingly worked a lot to

change that culture and to enable the mindset of innovation and freedom.

And also it helps minimizing the hierarchy of the company. For examples,

we've hosted plenty of private events for companies such as Google, IBM,

Microsoft, Coca-Cola...We hosted them for larger events like CEBIT in Germany,

we hosted them for nonprofit organizations etcetera. Sometimes,

depending on the objective of the company, we invite different kind of

speakers or we let them be the speakers if the message wants to be from top to

bottom of the company on management and on culture. We recommend them to have

at least two internal speakers if they want to have a message of

innovation, sometimes we invite speakers from the creative industries

that can join event, and sometimes they just want to have fun and we bring our

world best speakers and we make sure there are enough Beers. OLIVIER: Beers are important we get that. YANNICK: I have to say beers! I have to finish all my answers with beer.

OLIVIER : You are a CEO of your of this company, of this FuckUp Night company and I'm curious

, how do you apply this into your organization? How is

it different for you to manage these organizations? Do you talk openly about

failures? How it's different from a normal organization? YANNICK: it's completely

different from any other organization where I've worked before. Really, it's a

place where we talk face to face, where we talk from people to people, where we

there are no bosses in this organization. There are just people

that help make the most of the work of a team. It's a bit a cliche saying this but

it's true, it's crazy and we're finding that onboarding new employees is harder

on such a structure, because you no one is gonna be telling you off

for not doing something very specific or pushing you to get to that deadline.

Obviously we have control on all our processes, but everyone does their own

thing, on their own and a lot of people are not used to work on such an

environment. And another interesting thing is that we were all unified under the

headquarter team in Mexico, but now we have people in Mexico and in Spain we

have a person in Canada we have a person in Argentina. So it's quite

interesting how to build super engaging teams while having these

difficult geographically difficulties right. It's also different because

there's always a space to propose things to improve. It's a scheduled weekly

space where each person of the team has the lead on our weekly meetings, and they

propose how to be better at something operational and at something strategical.

So we try to get them to tell us how we could make their lives easier at work

and that covers operational issues and we fix them right away, and then we try

to get them to explain how they see the movement going, how they they dream

FuckUp Nights to be in the near future and how we could get closer to that

vision. So everyone is really shaping, everyone who is part of FuckUp Night is

really shaping the future of the movement, and not only in headquarters.

But also when it comes to our Fuckuppers, our local organizers, so that's

really a company that it's built together and not by a couple of

leaders...and beers! RAZWANNA: So I think a lot of businesses Yannick,

don't have the luxury of having that kind of structure, where they

started as they meant to go on, they started without a very open environment

they started with a very particular type of personality they wanted to recruit

and so they don't have the luxury I guess of having an open trusting environment.

But if a business, was a corporate business already established and the

leaders in that business who typically would be listening to this podcast, so if you

were to give them something practical to apply today on introducing this concept

of the FuckUp Night into their team, what would you advise that they do. YANNICK: What

I advise is always to give the example, so if you want to change the culture of your

company and it's never late to do that. You have to give the example and you

have to start by changing your habits and the way you communicate, and the way

you act. so starting by expecting failure publicly. It's great, I mean doesn't

necessarily need to be done at an organized Fuckup Night, it can be at a

weekly meeting, so you can just open ten minutes to share the weekly failures,

maybe the KPIs you didn't reach, the projects you have to kill this year in

order to keep the boat floating, starting from management to employees and get

employees comfortable where when it comes to talking about their screw ups. OLIVIER: I'm

curious about actually example that you may have had yourself. Or all of of your

companies have had. Maybe an example you can describe us and tell us

some lessons learned that you had or some things that make you act

differently after that. Would you have something which really meant

something to you? Like the one "fuck-up" which is important to you? YANNICK: a couple! a lot!

okay, I'll tell you two- okay one signing in f@@#$ contracts, if you don't sign a

contract, you very likely not going to get paid and that has happened to us! And

it happens to a lot of people and we listened so many failure stories about

people telling that they had to close their company because they didn't sign

up and we still didn't learn the lesson and

we didn't sign contracts and we didn't get paid! For number two,

images in Internet aren't free, and I used some image for a poster in November

2014 which was super cool, but the image owner was Getty Images and they found

out we used this poster globally, and they found out we used it in Vienna, in

Austria ,so they fined us! It costed us I think 1000 euros or 800

euros I think. They found again about us using this image in Australia so they

fined us again for 800 euros, and I just hope they're not starting with letter A

and there they keep going to the rest of the cities because, then we're really

screwed! but those fines seem to keep coming and it's like paying a monthly

salary to Getty Images...but the poster was pretty cool! it was like an empty

toilet paper roll! OLIVIER:I would have another question about your feeling about how

businesses are evolving I feel from my hand, that there's lots of

transformations, and not only about digital transformations. There's also a

different mindset coming inside organizations, You just mentioned that

some organisations are ready to have fuckUp Nights or meeting inside their own

companies, which for me is kind of WOW! That's big, that's huge! so how do

you see this trend going? Is it something that we'll see more and more

or is it just like something which is a small piece ? You know what what are your

thoughts about this future of organisations and companies? YANNICK: I think it's

a natural evolution, if they want to keep us innovative as in other companies, if

they want to have the best talent, if they want to craft the best ideas, then

they need to do something about it and sometimes it comes from not only

accepting failures, but being right, first thing. People don't believe bullshit

anymore or so they need to be true, right, honest and straight.

And I think it's just a matter of surviving.

There are definitely huge changes in companies that are tending to change

organization structure way more horizontal rather than vertical, that is

giving a lot of conflicts because you can't put rules in horizontal, on a

completely horizontal companies. But you have to give tips on ways to work and

and there are not many books that tell you how to manage these companies. And

it's a completely different way of doing business. So I think there's a lot to

improve on that side on how to manage teams without being a boss but helping

people make the most of their professional capabilities. So let's see

how it goes and I love the fact that this is happening already.

Tony Robbins: A Story that Will Change Your LIFE (motivational video) - Duration: 14:37.

[Applause]

my life is shaped by a lot of events of

what the most powerful was somebody

doing these kind acts for my family I

was 11 years old we had a really really

tough Thanksgiving where there was no

money in no food and we would have

starved they always found a way to get

something but we weren't gonna have a

Thanksgiving dinner that's for sure

certainly not a feast of any sort and

now my mom and dad at the time were

fighting like cats and dogs and saying

things that once you say them you could

never take him back you know kind of

stuff I'm talking about and my momís we

met father about how he could even take

care of his own family and it was

horrible I have a younger brother and

younger sister I'm the oldest so I was

trying to keep them from hearing this

conversation and then a miracle happened

bang on the door I'm the oldest there

screaming and so I go answer the door

and I answer the door and standing there

is this giant man I was his little boy

and he's holding this huge box of food

and beside him on the ground was a black

pop with an uncooked turkey in it and he

said is your father home I said just one

open okay I was like unbelievably afford

I thought this is a gift from God this

is gonna change it all this can make my

mom and dad happy it's gonna be a

believable cycle all my father is

screaming at my mother through a closed

door to the bedroom door and I said dad

dad there's God's Authority it's cold

you answer the door I said I did he's

got to see us I kind of teased to trust

daddy kind of come so he said fine he

made one last yell at her and he walks

at the door and I'm waiting there just

can't wait to see his face

and my dad opens the door on his ass

standing head with his big box of food

that my father did not get happy he

looked in the span and he raised his

voice to what he said who look we don't

take charity and then he took the door

to slam at the man's face but the man

was a good-sized man he put his foot

there and smacked his foot down stucco

he said sir sir

this is not charity everybody else tough

times somebody knows you're having a

tough time and they want you to have a

magical Thanksgiving I'm just the

delivery guy he said please take this oh

my father said we don't take Jerry what

- slamming again and that's not the guy

put his shoulder against it so he

couldn't do it and him I thought of

cerium it's like he's two males starting

to get this intense mode and one just

trying to give a gift

I'm freaking and then the guy said

something that I'll never forget the

moments I wished he having said but he

found a way to force my father he's

holding this thing he looked at me and

then he looked at my dad he said don't

make your family suffer because of your

ego now my dad's level of energy

increased

but he was also trapped you get it so he

took the food slammed it on our table

and slammed the door on the man's face

in every Bank

[Music]

and I I'm know what to do part of me

wanted to cry part of me was crushed and

I watched my father storm off and went

on back to scream at my mother and I

remember that day just thinking you know

I don't understand them and years years

later I began to understand a little bit

what I do understand is that you look at

a person's life and it's like so much

life you can be joyous about like I

wanted to smile you know I mean even now

I could remember it I want to smile

about this great gift but now I couldn't

even smile cuz you were making me angry

and then I thought you know years I

figured out it our whole life is shaped

my decisions that's what we've talked

about today right but there's three

decisions you're making every moment

you're alive and the way you make these

three decisions shapes your destiny

first decision we're all making every

moment is what even a focus on what are

you gonna focus on

I realized that my father's life of my

lives ended a very different because we

made that day three decisions very

differently he decided to focus on the

fact that he has not fed his family and

the second question you gotta decide

every moment you're alive including this

moment what are uniform the song second

question as as you're focusing on what

does this mean what does it mean and the

bottom line on meaning is if you think

about it you get to make up the meaning

and most people pick the worse for

dumping that day my father cited that

focusing back he hadn't at his family

and I know what meaning he gave because

he sent it out loud over and over again

that he was worthless because he had not

taken care of his family and then the

final most important decision you make

every moment you're alive what am I

gonna do what am I gonna do and I'll

tell you decided to do he decided to

leave our family charlie thereafter

which at the time was it was the worst

experience of my life it was the most

crushing experience I felt has been so

many years now I don't have the same

feel

part of it is three years ago he passed

away but at the time I knew no greater

pain my family did no greater pain I

couldn't understand why I would leave I

loved him so much and my wife turned out

very different than him I was the only

one to go to his funeral no one else in

the family would go nobody want to be

part of it

he died alone of a disease called

connective tissue disorder and I can

tell you right before his death he got

palestin cuz he looked at me he said son

he said I was a bastard I didn't connect

with anybody and look when I'm dying

enough it's unbelievable so that same

day I made three decisions I decided to

focus on the fact there was food what a

concept I like that but what changed my

life was the meaning I gave it I decided

that day that what this means is that

strangers care and if strangers care

about me and my family I decided I was

gonna do as I was gonna care about

strangers and that completely changed my

life I promised myself something they I

do well enough to do this for other

families I was done for me and I didn't

wait till I was you know wealthy to do

it I did my first one when I seventeen I

remembered our seventeen I have my own

car I have some money and I decided go

on the greatest shopping spree of my

life at that point as I was gonna go

shop for two families for Thanksgiving

and I was gonna go do four families was

done for me so many years before it was

the most euphoric experience I took two

baskets I went to the manager of the

place I told him I was gonna do and I

said I want you to give me a discount

you be my partner give me 10% cheap

bastard

that but it was so cool I got two of

everything right because I want to give

enough food for a family for two or

three days and have an unbelievable

feast then I called this church in the

barrio area and I said listen I want to

go take care of some families that are

too proud to come to the church and get

food so they might suffer can you

recommend some families and they gave me

two families so then I wrote a note

because I thought you know what I'm

gonna put on old jeans and a t-shirt and

I'm gonna deliver this I'm not going to

get the acknowledgement but I do want to

see the faces right so all go is the

delivery boy which is easy I look like

one and but I wrote this note and I

wrote I kind of wanted to get upset like

my father did Sarah this note and I said

this is a gift from a friend please know

that you're loved I want you to have an

extraordinary Thanksgiving you deserve

it please accept this gift and then I

put under it I said if you can someday

do well enough to do this for one other

family and pass on the gift and put love

a friend and then I realized I was going

to an area that was more Latino and I

don't speak Spanish I thought I got a

friend to write on the back and Spanish

so I could flip it around of those

challenge so I got one of my buddy's old

vans

so I need a little room put all the

groceries in and I drove to this house

and it was not what I expected it was

more I got this house and I got two bags

of groceries and I banged on the door

door opened and it's one about this tall

stares up at me like this right and I

said hi and his very office students

beginning English and she let out a

scream when she saw the food and by the

way this woman had five children and a

husband what I didn't know is the

husband who left her three days before

with no money no food and five kids so I

got these that says she screamed she

grabbed me sir Holloman acting like

kissing right and I said no her uncle I

said the delivery boy delivery boy and I

was seen understand a word I'm saying so

I reached in the pocket they gave her

the note flipped it over she got it in

Spanish and then she started to bawl so

then she came and start kissing again no

no I'm the delivery boy a little you

know try to show her and she goes no no

gift from God gift from God come on

trying up the ball so I'm like you know

what do I put this and I'm doing

everything hold it together I smiling

but I want to cry and she disappointed

wasn't a big house it's like a room so I

went over and I put the stuff on there

just as I'm trying to put stuff on there

I hear these screams also Bam Bam two

boys hit me one leg and the other his

two little guys just tack on me right

when they saw it when they saw the food

they went crazy when I saw the pumpkin

pie it was over

decides to come out with me come out

with me and so they came out we kept

bringing these groceries in and I'm

telling you it was like I don't know

describe it was the most before fun

passionate loving was like my little

brothers in hell that's we brought all

stuff in there laughs and then they were

lit up and then you know I done it all

it was time to go and I didn't want to

go on they didn't want me those one

little boy just wouldn't let go of my

leg he's kept looking up to me a hug

give me a fight you know but I had to go

make the other delivery so uh I just won

I said you know I've got to go you know

and she said ok whatever her language

was I don't know what it was but I knew

it man okay right so I went to the leave

and then she grabbed my arm and she

started tears in her eyes and I and I

said I wanted to say you know Happy

Thanksgiving but I don't know Spanish

silent Feliz Navidad

feared it was closed and she started

last she went from crying the laughing

right and it's a grab gave me this big

hug and the kids giving his hugs and

other I got out and I walked off they're

all staying on the porch I got this

little band and I drove it out and turn

it around and I would turn around I

looked in the rearview mirror I was

feeling all this emotion building at my

body and I looked in the mirror and I

saw mama standing in the porch with her

kids all the kids my mama sitting there

crying hysterically and smiling from ear

to ear and I couldn't keep it together I

just I was right there stopped in the

street I started bawling and then

probably and I'm gonna just think you

know this is a beautiful thing you know

why is this making me cry and you know

wise it's great but why am I so

emotional about this and then I got it I

realized that moment not the worst day

of my life my father leaving could

actually be the best Airmotive

because of I am have that experience I

wouldn't be here today and now because

of that I'm get to live this life I have

the desire and the drive above I want to

get it the sweat and so I've really

realized that the worst day was the best

ended that was God's gift the gift would

have been their newest and as an old

country song that says thank God for

unanswered prayers it's a story about

this man wants his Prairie mines la

Orana wasn't fulfilled

[Music]

so so I tell you I tell you the story

couple reasons one is you want to change

your life figure out how your worst day

was your best then you'll change

anything because it is if you look for

it if you find the deeper meaning it is

you know there's something in you that

wouldn't be there without it and the

second reason is because I want to

recruit your soul not for your money or

business

I want to recruit you in this action of

going making a difference I want to

recruit you for you because I know if

you go do a few these things you'll get

hooked and you'll make it a ritual all

change your life you know whatever

things you do in your life this is what

it's really about and you know it won't

be long before it'll be Thanksgiving in

we still do this you know I start off at

first year I've had two families my next

year I've had four I'm gonna double it

next year I did eight which was a lot of

work and I didn't tell anybody I was

doing this I wasn't doing it for

acknowledgement as duties right but

after a while I thought I can use some

help so I got my friends together and

say you know what's that they're just

going to have in Turkey let's give

thanks let's go build baskets with food

great stuff let's deliver it to people

who will come and have a big dinner and

we'll talk about we're grateful for and

have our dinner and so we did it and it

became a rich one it grew and then I

dumped some companies how my employees

got involved and then about 14 15 years

ago I started my foundation the last

year we fed over a million people now in

nine countries around the world you know

our Christmas advanced image

students thank you thank you thank you

so I thank you for your applause I

wasn't telling you for that reason I

want to recruit you and you can give

your money but I'd much prefer if you

would just go deliver the food because

I'll tell you what's great

you'll be changed by that it's easy to

give money but we enter an environment

you give you don't give as the giver you

go so do every person but you're the

really the one that made it it'll

absolutely change your life

IS MY MIND CONTROLLING MY MIND?! | Will You Press The Button #10 - Duration: 11:59.

Hello, everybody

My name is Markiplier

And welcome back to Will You Press the Button. Now this dilemma is interesting you gain the ability of mind control,

but the people you control will be aware that you took control of them and will react to what you did to them

while under the effect. So you can control everybody, but your manipulations are laid bare for the people that are

being manipulated. I mean,

the best comment is "That would be fucking hilarious"?

I don't know what you plan to do with people in their mind control, but I don't think it's going to be so hilarious. So

basically you become a super villain, in a way, you control people for your own ends – No! You become like – oh that guy?

What was that guy? The purple guy! The purple man! Purple man!?

Here's purple man. You know, purple man from Zooey Deschanel's

Power Girl? What was it?

I can't remember what the name of it was. The guy, he could control people's minds with a virus, and they would do

anything that he instructed them to do, no matter what it was, and they could not resist.

But they were aware of it, and that was horrible, so I don't think imma do that

I think I'm gonna pass on that one. Whoa-ho-ho

It's 66% of people that think they could use that power responsibly? I don't think that's true.

You have an endless supply of food, but you have to workout four hours of every day for the rest of your life.

I mean, an endless supply of food would solve world hunger – is that not true?

It would it would be better for everybody in the entire world, and heck, I would just get superduper in shape...

Like I would get crazy in shape all for the benefit of the world? I don't see a loss there!

I'm gonna take that! Hell yeah, I would! Hell yeah! Also,

it doesn't say what kind of workout you have to do. It could be working out in my mind.

Ha ha ha ha. You have the

permanently active power to control your luck and the luck of those around you, but in order to control whether it is bad luck or

good luck and the intensity you must be given permission to by a man in a suit who will withhold it to manipulate

you as he sees fit (*trails off into disgust*).

So... I get to make everybody around me either bad or good lucky by the whims of a man in a suit??

Ah! It doesn't say–, it doesn't say a specific man in a suit! It says *a*

man in a suit.

This could be any man in a suit. I could wear a suit. I'm a man.

I've got a suit. I can change– I could– I could do it. I could do it. I could do that.

See, ha ha, I found you. I'll press that button.

I'll just get one of my friends to tie themselves in a suit and give me lots of good luck, right?

Ooh, split down the middle, there.

Alright, become god, but everyone is an atheist and hates you and you cannot change their opinion or make yourself happy. Meh...

I mean...

What does that really matter?

Basically you become Dr. Manhattan, right? In the Watchmen comics like Dr.

Manhattan basically had the powers of a god,

like he could make matter out of an energy and like he could manipulate he was a quantum being and

basically existed outside the realms of our universe except that he was in it, so

you become a god you become a God with whatever powers that are godly

and you can make whatever you want your destiny is outside of it. You can't change their opinions.

They will always hate you, and you can't make them happy

But, you know hey, he's got the powers of a god.

That's not too shabby. I don't know I'll prob– I'll take that. Oh, no people didn't do that. "Kill them"–

"I kill them all". Alright well. Oh no. Okay,

this is funny because I've actually been reading a lot of warhammer 40k books.

And you will become a god-like emperor that rules over all mankind in the year 40k,

but you'll have to stay on a golden throne that requires souls to keep you alive. So for those of you who

don't know, the god emperor of mankind sits atop a golden throne (*goes all regal and crazy*) because he was

betrayed by his son, Horus, during the Horus Heresy and the arcane mechanisms of the golden throne must keep him alive with the daily

sacrifice of a thousand sychars a day blending their energy to the

astronomicon to power it for the betterment of humanity and keep the imperial web way closed

for all eternity! Oh, you know, sorry. I'll do that.

I'll take up that charge, because who knows what the lord is gonna spill for me later. I don't know, I'll take it.

I'll do it. I'll do it. Give me our–

Put me on that throne make me a god. Actually, that'd probably be terrible. God, I can't imagine... Just sitting in the same chair for

40,000 years. Might as well do let's plays while I'm up there, I suppose. A fridge that contains any food/drink

you want, fully prepared and ready to eat whenever you open the door, but the fridge takes up half of the space

where you live, you still have to pay for the food, and you still gain weight? Well, that's–

Well that's fine by me, if I could have Cracker-Barrel chicken and dumplings anytime I want! And they are too expensive!

I'll b- I'll buy that!

That sounds awesome! And a "half of the space where I live" well, I mean, that's fine.

I don't need that much space. If I have food anytime

I want I could have people over and I can impress them with any delicacy that they could desire. That sounds great.

I want that. Give me that fri– What!? Oh, you crazy people! I guess that means– you could just cook it.

There's– there's this Temmie Armor: "so a normal fridge. You just don't have to cook."

Damn it, you're right. God. Damn it. God damn it. You're right.

You become the Doctor's new companion and travel through space and time, but you will die during an adventure.

So I'd become his new companion and that, and then I generally just be what his companion is and then I would die

for the Doctor Who. I'm gonna go with no,

because that never seems to turn out well no matter which way you slice it. No matter

what happens, like, you'll create an alternate version of yourself that will have to suffer or

you'll be the alternate version of yourself, and then you'll die in a time loop and basically going with the Doctor is

just a horrible, horrible, horrible thing. I will not do that, sir. I will not do that.

You have the abilities of changing into any creature you want– Animorphs!–

but you have to stay that animal for a month every time you change appearance.

I mean, okay, can we go mythical animals? What kind of creatures are we talking about here?

Can I be an alien? Can I be anything? Can I be different versions of people?

I mean, technically humans are an animal. I can just change my face every month. I can stay incognito for the rest of my life.

Doesn't sound so bad. I'll do that. I'll do that.

Hell yeah. Alright, everything will be free just for you, but except for electronic goods which will be more expensive.

I think this guy's got the right idea about it. Sebastian exchanged diamonds and golds and other raw materials for cash.

I mean, technically yeah, that's kind of working around the system. There's something saying that exchanges don't exist

I can get something for free and then sell it later and get anything. I want yeah, that sounds good. There's no downside to that. Easy-peasy.

Oh, no: Live in the world of GTA5 but it is in 8-bit.

Why would I want to do that!? Because luck be have it for me

I wouldn't be one of the main protagonists or antagonists in that game.

You know the type that gets to go to the hospital every time?

No, I'd be one of the regular street people that has people in rocket ships just exploding over the horizon every single morning.

And then they just respawn when the police careen and through my house, and then I die

instantly, and even worse my life is in 8-bit. How is that any better? I don't want that at all. No thank you.

I don't want any part of that.

Let's see. You can end all suffering in the world all oppression and essentially create world peace and save billions of lives

but you must choose– you must "chose" one of the people you're closest to in the world to act as a sacrifice. Well I mean,

one life for the end of all suffering. Like... I don't even need to debate this one.

I don't– You know, I know I'm sacrificing one of my friends, here

but hey, I think that one of my friends would be like "oh yeah, that's– that– that's a good deal. sacrifice me"

I can guarantee you that I would have a friend– and if friend of mine needed me to sacrifice for that outcome?

Oh, hell, yeah, oh hell yeah. Oh

sacrifice me up. Burn me on a pyre. I don't care. Oh, you– Oh, you cowards!

You cowards. You can control a mind, but it's only your mind.

So what? Are you saying like I have the amount of control that I would have over like a sim?

I'll assign myself to a task, and I won't be able to change it because my mind wants my mind to do that?

How does that work for my mind controlling my mind?

You don't know what my mind does! My mind is my mind and my mind alone!

But– but if my mind is controlling my mind does that mean is my mind or my mind telling my mind what to do?

I don't mind if my mind tells me what to do because it's my mind.

I'll press– oh, no. Ow, my brain hurts. Ow.

Alright, you can see through clothes and see anyone naked – I don't know if I want that – but everyone around you,

everyone around can see you naked when you use the power.

Hey...

No downside! Everyone gets the Glory of me naked!

God, why would I want that? Why would I want to be TSA all times?

Why would I want that? I don't think I want that. I don't want,

I don't want. I don't want to see everyone naked. I'd rather not, you know. I will not do that.

Oh really? 51 percent of people are so desperate to see everyone else in the world naked? God,

you don't know what you're asking for there. Ah.

I dunno. I mean, I know it's optional

I know, it's optional you don't have to do it all the time, and there's use for it here and there

but I mean, it's like. I don't need that. I don't need that. I'm good. My life is okay without that.

I'm good.

Ooh.

This is interesting. You can create a universe exactly as you detail it, but in order to create this alternate universe

You must die.

So basically you're creating a universe that you would never ever be a part of. You–

It's not like you die to go into this universe you can create a world that you want with your rules

exactly the way that you want it,

but you'll never enjoy it. So in the end, is there really a point to it? Is the creation of this world

that is basically fiction to you, but is real to the people in it and will really tangibly exist...

Is about worth

dying for? And how would you even have all of the

wherewithal to be able to detail every small nuance about that universe? We don't even know this universe

and we got like a billion people working on that idea.

So how would you be able to detail every absolute detail? It would be a lifetime endeavor

just being able to create this universe, but would it be worth it if

it was made in the first place and would it be worth it it could cost your life?

Think of any fictional universe that you've ever wanted to be a part of. You could make that a reality, and

maybe hope that you'll be born into it after you die, but there's no guarantee for that.

So let me know down in the comments, what you would do. Would you create that universe if it costs you your life?

Let me know down there. So thank you everybody so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed this one

Let me know if you did down the comments below. And as always, I will see you in the next video.

Buh bye.

Who Will Die In GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8? Theory & Predictions - Duration: 11:51.

After a fast-paced season 7, the Long Night of waiting for Game of Thrones Season eight

is upon us, and according to actor Kit Harrington, the final season is going to be an absolute

bloodbath!

A lot has happened over the course of the last seven seasons, including the deaths of

over 200 named characters… which has me wondering whose neck will end up on the proverbial

chopping block next season.

Yippee-ki-yay, movie lovers, it's Jan here and today I'm predicting the characters likely

to die in the epic final season of Game of Thrones.

I'm also starting a new Funko Pop giveaway.

All you have to do is be a subscriber to my channel and leave a comment on this video

for a chance to win.

Quick spoiler warning, I'll be reviewing major character arcs from all seven seasons so far,

so take care if you're not caught up.

Let's kick off with one of the characters many of us love to hate on Game of Thrones:

Cersei Lannister.

Back in season 5, Maggy the Frog made a number of predictions for Cersei which have come

true, including the death of her three children so far.

However, George RR Martin's books include another prophecy by Maggy that Cersei will

be choked to death by the valonqar, which is High Valyrian for 'little brother', or

possibly 'little sister' or 'little sibling.'

So, could this mean that we'll see Tyrion strangle Cersei, just like he did his former

lover Shae?

I don't know if it'll be that simple.

After all, Jaime Lannister may be Cersei's twin, but he's actually slightly younger than

her.

Season 7 has already teased Jaime as a possible valonqar, for example, there's the scene which

showed Cersei and Jaime standing on a huge map of Westeros, with Cersei at the area called

the neck and Jaime by the area known as the fingers.

And the two are now estranged after she accused him of treason when he chose to ride north

after she reneged on her agreement to unite with Dany and Jon against the White Walkers.

And remember Euron Greyjoy's reply to Cersei's accusation that he killed his own brother:

'You should try it,' Euron said, 'it feels wonderful.'

So, to prevent the prophecy or because she feels they've betrayed her, will Cersei attempt

to follow through on her threats to kill her brothers, yet end up hoist by her own petard?

Also, with each passing day, Cersei seems to act more and more like a mix of her father

Tywin and the Mad King Aerys Targaryen.

The thing is: Tywin was killed by Tyrion and Jaime reluctantly killed the Mad King to prevent

him from carrying out his crazy plan of setting the whole of King's Landing on fire, so it

wouldn't be beyond belief if either of them found themselves in a similar position with

Cersei.

Yet, Jaime and Tyrion aren't the only characters who could fulfil the valonqar prophecy.

Among other potential Cersei assassins is Arya, who hasn't had a chance to cross the

Mad Queen off her kill-list yet for her part in Ned Stark's death.

Ok, totally crazy theory time now: What if Arya got hold of the decapitated dwarf head

that looked like Tyrion and which Qyburn took to use for his work in Season 5?

She could then take its face and choke Cersei as a Tyrion look-a-like, in a similar stunt

to the one she pulled on Walder Frey's men at the start of season 7.

Or what if Arya put Jaime to death for trying to kill her brother Bran back in season 1,

and then she used Jaime's face to fulfil the prophecy?

Or Arya could make use of the newly deceased Littlefinger's face to slip back into Cersei's

court under the pretence of providing her with intel on her northern enemies.

Another character that many of us are probably itching to see get his just desserts before

the series is over is Gregor Clegane, aka Ser Robert Strong, the Undead Mountain.

It's been a long time coming, but after the Hound's fighting words to his brother in the

Dragonpit, it certainly looks like they're teasing Cleganebowl for season 8.

For anyone who doesn't know, Cleganebowl is the fan theory that the story arcs for the

two brothers Sandor and Gregor Clegane will culminate in an epic face-off.

Now, on the surface, Gregor would appear to have the upper hand against Sandor, being

larger, stronger and, most importantly now, undead.

But I feel the show has spent time thrusting The Hound into situations where he's confronted

by flames, which he's scared of given his childhood experience with fire.

I think this may be foreshadowing a crucial moment where he overcomes his fear which he'll

need to do to finally defeat the Mountain.

I suspect that an ordinary weapon won't be able to kill Ser Robert Strong, so Sandor

might do it with a dragonglass blade, or how about this for a wild theory: Beric Dondarrion

could light The Hound's blade on fire and the Hound could then use the flaming sword

to slice into his undead brother's face in a moment of sweet symbolic revenge.

Beric Dondarrion's status at the end of season 7 was uncertain as he was on top of the wall

as the ice dragon blasted a huge chunk of the wall down.

The last time we saw him and Tormund, though, it looked like they were on the part of the

wall that was left standing.

But I don't think the Lightning Lord will make it through the whole of next season alive

as his death has been pretty heavily foreshadowed in season seven.

Now that his good friend and chief resurrecter Thoros of Myr is dead, Beric is on his last

life.

And Beric himself pointed out that the reason he's been brought back from the dead is to

help kill the Walkers.

What I think could happen is that Beric goes in to battle expecting to kill the Night King

with a dragonglass or flaming Valyrian steel blade, but it doesn't work on the icy sovereign.

Beric will die heroically, but not completely in vain as Jon Snow could witness the death

and realise that it will take something more to kill the Night King.

I really hope this doesn't happen, but I'm fearful for our Onion Knight Davos Seaworth

next season.

He's one of the few good-natured characters on the show, having been loyal to the men

he's served; he was a friend to Shireen Baratheon; and he was instrumental in saving Gendry from

Melisandre and in bringing him back into the story in season seven.

But, when he said recently that "all [he'd] ever done was live to a ripe old age", I immediately

thought "oh, oh", are the writers planning to brutally kill him off?

I really hope that's not what lies ahead for Davos, but it does feel like his character

arc could be coming to its natural end.

There's one loose thread, though, which needs resolution before we see Davos leave us, and

that's his threat to Melisandre back in Winterfell that he would execute her if he ever saw her

again.

This brings us to the Red Woman herself, who departed Westeros this season in her usual

cryptic manner, but gave a few clues to her future when she spoke to Varys on Dragonstone.

During the conversation, Melisandre said she was leaving for Volantis but that she had

to return to Westeros one last time where, she added mysteriously, that she would die.

The thing with Melisandre, though, is that she's extremely hard to kill – she's over

400 years old and has survived assassination attempts like when Maester Cressen served

her poisoned wine in Season 2.

For a hint at how she might peg it, let's look back at her encounter with Arya in Season

3 where this happened.

"I see a darkness in you."

"And in that darkness eyes staring back at me..."

"We will meet again."

And let's not forget either that Melisandre is still on Arya's kill-list.

Arya now has a Valyrian steel dagger, which could be enough to kill the Red Priestess

in season eight, but I think she'll also have to remove Melisandre's magical choker first

as well.

And remember that during Melisandre's conversation with Varys, she also revealed that he too

had to die in Westeros.

And that wasn't the first encounter we've seen between Varys and a red priestess.

Back in Meereen in season 6, Varys met with Kinvara, who revealed she knew about the time

a sorcerer castrated him and cast his manhood into the fire.

Kinvara also knew about the voice that Varys heard from the flames, which was presumably

the fate that lies ahead for him, and which it looks like Melisandre also knows about.

And there was some possible foreshadowing of the fact that Varys will die, even if it's

not in this way, when Daenerys told him he must stand up to her if he ever thought she

was failing as a ruler and that she would burn him alive if she discovered he was betraying

her.

Moving on to the ironborn, I think Theon could be a Greyjoy casualty in season 8.

After abandoning his sister Yara during Euron's attack in season seven, Theon wants to redeem

himself by launching a raid to rescue her.

I can see the show having Theon successfully free Yara, but there's a chance he might not

survive that final act of redemption.

Alternately, Theon could survive and either he or Yara could kill Euron during the rescue.

That would be an interesting way to go as it would put Yara back in charge of the Iron

Islands.

Now, one character whose death could shock a lot of fans and who I think has a chance

of dying is Sansa Stark.

Sansa's death could be a heart-breaking moment for fans of the lemon-cake-loving Lady of

Winterfell, so what suggests the elder Stark sister could kick the bucket before the series

ends?

Well, in a letter that George R.R. Martin penned back in 1993, he revealed the five

characters he planned to survive the whole of his book series.

Those lucky five were Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark, Jon Snow, Bran Stark, and Tyrion

Lannister.

If this original vision is something showrunners Benioff and Weiss plan to stick to, it seems

that Sansa will not make it to the end.

And something which could foreshadow Sansa's eventual demise is the death of her direwolf

Lady back in season one.

The Starks have all had strong connections to their direwolves with only Jon and Arya's

direwolves still alive.

Although Bran survived his direwolf's death, you could argue that Summer died around the

time Bran lost his personal identity and became the Three-Eyed Raven.

Sansa has been on quite a journey on the show, progressing from a naïve young girl with

dreams of knights and princes to becoming a more politically savvy operator in the North.

To get to this point though she's been played, betrayed and abused by various people from

Joffrey and Cersei to Littlefinger and Ramsay, so you might wonder how on earth could the

TV show kill her off after all that?

Well, her death might not be as a helpless victim, rather it could be heroic or noble

in some way, for example, defending the North or Winterfell against a horde of invading

White Walkers.

Then again, Sansa appeared to be displeased about her brother Jon bending the knee to

Daenerys, so how will she react when he arrives at Winterfell with Dany, and on top of that

what about when she discovers that he's also a secret Targaryen?

Will she still treat Jon as one of the Stark wolf pack?

I know that losing any of the characters I've been talking about would be a big blow depending

on who your favourites are, but there's still one really shocking death the showrunners

might decide to do late in the season.

When talking about the ending he's planned for his Song of Ice and Fire series, George

R.R. Martin has said that it will be "bittersweet" and that "you can't just fulfil a quest and

then pretend life is perfect".

Which means that the hero or heroes we've favoured are unlikely to get a perfectly happy

ending.

So, although we will get some kind of satisfying resolution, it will also be tinged with sadness.

Which could mean that one of the two main characters many fans have rooted for over

the seasons, Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen, may have to sacrifice themselves to defeat

the Night King and his army.

The season 7 finale has just paired up our heroes, but the reveal of Jon's Targaryen

heritage could drive a wedge between the couple if Dany thinks he's a threat to her claim.

Alternately, Jon and Dany could continue to work together to defeat the undead threat,

and either Dany or Jon could be revealed to be Azor Ahai or the Prince or Princess That

Was Promised.

In the legend of Azor Ahai, the sword that could defeat the Darkness could only be forged

when the hero drove it into the chest of his beloved Nissa Nissa.

And to fulfil that prophecy, Dany or Jon could have to forge a new Lightbringer sword by

plunging it into the heart of their new love.

Still, George RR Martin said in the early 90s that Jon and Dany were two of five characters

who would make it to the end of his books, and he also told the crew working on season

1 of the show that bringing Dany and Jon together was the end game.

So, if the showrunners do take the Azor Ahai route, perhaps bringing Dany or Jon back from

the dead could be one of Melisandre's final acts before her own demise.

Now, I'd love to hear who you think will get the chop and who will survive to the end of

Game of Thrones.

Trump: Texas flood relief funding will be approved quickly - Duration: 1:36.

I'm I'm wondering what you can tell the people of Texas to expect in terms of

long-term recovery efforts and in particular you have been feuding with

some key congressional leaders you've also threatened a government shutdown

potentially next month over border wall funding or these going to hamper

long-term the the funding that will be needed long-term for recovery no Todd I

think that you're gonna see very rapid action from Congress certainly from the

president and you're going to get your funding it's a terrible tragedy your

governor has been absolutely outstanding and the job he's done and his entire

staff and I will say that I just spoke with Greg and he is working like 24/7 we

expect to have requests on our desk fairly soon and we think that Congress

will feel very much the way I feel they're in a very bipartisan way that

will be nice but we think you're going to have what you need and it's going to

go fast Texas is a unique place it's a great great state great people and I

think you'll be up and running very very quickly really very quickly so yeah I

think you're gonna be in fantastic shape I've already spoken to Congress and

everybody feels for you and feels for what you're going through but at the

same time they have great respect even additional respect for the state because

you've handled it so well so brilliantly but it's a long road still pouring still

a lot of rain nobody has ever seen anything like it they've heard the words

epic I've heard historic that's what it is

Liverpool will not sell Coutinho until they sign Renato Sanches - Duration: 2:14.

Liverpool will not sell Coutinho until they sign Renato Sanches

Barcelona continue to press ahead with their pursuit of Coutinho despite Liverpool rejecting three transfer bids so far. And Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim a deal could be dependent on the Reds' efforts to sign Sanches.

The teenager, who just a year ago was billed as the world's most promising young midfielder, looks likely to leave Bayern Munich on loan.

The German giants want him to gain experience away from the Allianz Arena and , as well as Swansea and Chelsea, are keen to snap him up. It is said Liverpool have earmarked Sanches as the player they want to replace Coutinho.

But, until they land their man, the Brazil international will not be granted his dream move to Catalonia. Liverpool would rather take their time to ensure they sign Sanches as they feel announcing Coutinho's exit would put pressure on Jurgen Klopp.

add Liverpool want a deal for Coutinho that would ultimately rise to an eyewatering £148m. The Reds reportedly want a guarantee of at least £128m up front to part with their prized asset.

The other £20m would then be received if Coutinho meets certain clauses, such as winning the Ballon d'Or. supposedly feel they will sign the Brazil international eventually.

But Liverpool could make them sweat by choosing to focus on luring Sanches to Merseyside instead. Barcelona continue to press ahead with their pursuit of Coutinho despite Liverpool rejecting three transfer bids so far.

Top 10 Books That Will Make You Smarter - Duration: 5:20.

Top 10 Books That Will Make You Smarter

While reading is always stimulating, sometimes we want to go for a pure intellectual power-up.

Here are some selections we've found that are guaranteed to expand your mind and worldview.

10 - The Courage to Write Ralph Keyes

While Ralph Keyes' conversational guide is an invaluable tool for those of us who

aspire to a profession in writing, it is equally eye-opening for those who simply enjoy reading

the fruits of their labor.

Keyes' insight comes from over three decades of teaching writing, and is engaging for writers

of all levels.

Comments from successful authors are sprinkled throughout, illustrating how they overcame

roadblocks in their creative processes.

Originally published in 1995, The Courage To Write has become a standard volume for

aspiring writers and is a fascinating read for anyone.

09 - A Short History of Nearly Everything Bill Bryson

Author Bill Bryson made his name with colorful first-person accounts of stays in some pretty

challenging environments, like the Appalachian Trail and the Australian Outback.

With A Short History of Everything, Bryson challenges himself- and the reader- to comprehend

the works of some of science's greatest minds, in an effort to understand… well,

everything.

From the Big Bang to the advent of civilization to our modern day, Bryson's work is entertaining,

informative and meditative in equal measure- a trek through the history of the world through

the eyes a someone very much like us.

08 - At Home: A Short History of Private Life Bill Bryson

This 2011 work has, on the surface, a narrower focus but becomes just as involved and in-depth

as the previous entry.

Bryson is the only repeat author on our list for good reason; his work will engage you,

and show you new frames of reference for the commonplace.

This book is hands-down the single best book I have read in years.

If you only buy one book on this list, this is the one.

Since I first read it, I have bought extra copies every year to give away as gifts.

07 - Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies

Jared M. Diamond

The book won the 1998 Pulitzer for General Nonfiction, among other awards, and has received

excellent academic reviews as well.

It's a worldview-challenging work that deserves a read.

06 - Cosmos Carl Sagan

15 billion years of cosmic evolution are covered in a light, inclusive tone that makes Cosmos

as easy to read as it is intellectually stimulating.

It became the best selling nonfiction science book of all time upon publication, and is

responsible for the higher visibility of science-based publication and programming that continues

to this day.

05 - Predictably Irrational Dan Ariely

The basic concept- that we make completely irrational choices a great deal of the time,

yet do so in ways that are easy to predict- is elaborated on in ways that will make you

question the very motives behind the choices you make, from the trivial to the life-altering.

A provocative and stimulating read.

04 - The Holographic Universe Michael Talbot

An impressive amount of science supports Talbot's theory, which touches on everything from deja

vu and "meaningful coincidences" to the holographic nature of dreams.

It's a cohesive theory, convincingly and thoroughly explained, that will give you a

different view of the world around you- perhaps a radically different one.

03 - Contrary Notions Michael Parenti

Political analyst Michael Parenti has a long history of calling into question the established

histories and conventions that drive our society.

This collection of short works is perhaps the purest distillation of his revolutionary

worldview, and the most varied of all his works.

02 - A People's History of the United States Howard Zinn

Zinn's remarkably cohesive, conversational and controversial work is as vital as when

it was published, and offers a historical perspective on America that many of us have

never considered.

01 - Tao of Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee

The most reflective and abstract entry on this list, Tao of Jeet Kune Do is a fascinating

and stimulating read for literally anyone, the thoughts and meditations of one of the

great humanist minds of our time.
