Now I'm going to speak about offense and defense: what is stronger?

Today I was asked again: what is stronger, offense or defense?

There is no correct answer to this question, because there are no criteria and no idea: what means stronger.

Stronger where? On the Kharkiv Championship, World Championship, or between two amateurs in the garage?

In case of World Championship, stronger when? In which year?

Not everyone knows, but in table tennis, there were times, when defense held sway over offense.

Almost all the strongest players were defenders,

and in the top there was no offender.

To speak about what stronger defense or offense, we should set up criteria, first of all.

If to speak about World Championship 2016, there will be overwhelming majority of offenders,

and few defenders, who will not take first places.

If to speak about National Championships, in such a case, defenders may easily be in the top,

but want to add, that such question is often asked by amateurs,

and at such level, question "what is stronger defense of offense?" is senseless.

As at such level any style of play is effective.

And style should be chosen due to natural skills, and not due to watching how someone plays at World Championship.

And speaking about amateur level and unachievable to most amateurs professional level,

professional player may play both in defense and offense.

In classic defense, modern defense, different blocks, and so on and so forth.

That's why, again. addle about which style is stronger at amateur level is completely senseless.

At amateur level you should look for your own style, at which you will comfortably and effectively play against your level.

As for correlation between defense and offense styles,

I want to pay amateurs' and beginners' attention to the fact,

that at the beginner level, tennis players make mostly unforced errors.

Are Power Poses Super Life Hacks or Super Junk? - Duration: 4:47.

It's pretty well known that nonverbal behavior, like body language or facial expressions,

can pass on information to other people.

Like, a thumbs up for "good job" or crossed arms and a frown to say, "I'm unhappy."

But can striking a powerful pose like Wonder Woman actually make you more powerful?

Okay, well, everyone knows there's no magical stance to unlock super speed or flight or anything.

But it turns out researchers don't agree on what a power pose does do, and it's turned

into a bit of a controversy.

It started in 2010, when a study was published by researchers at Columbia University.

They suggested that holding a powerful pose for a few minutes could do some pretty amazing

things, changing people's thoughts, actions, and even their hormones.

This news was shared online and offline, everywhere from business to healthcare, with headlines

like, "This Simple 'Power Pose' Can Change Your Life And Career."

It turned into a pretty big thing.

But here's the deal: that study has come under fire by other scientists.

The study had 42 people briefly hold two poses that were either expansive, which opened up

the body and were considered powerful.

Or constrictive, which closed the body and were considered submissive.

This short little posing session was enough to raise testosterone and lower cortisol,

a stress-related hormone, which researchers measured in people's saliva.

It also increased risk-taking in a gambling task, and increased people's sense of power.

In other words, it made people think and act like they had more power, and even changed

hormones that go along with that.

According to the researchers and some people, this meant that striking a pose for a minute

might make you more confident and assertive, help you ace a job interview, or lower your stress.

Which sounds pretty darn powerful, right?

But other scientists were skeptical of the results, which is a good thing in science,

especially when a small study claims such big things.

Sometimes, just by chance, a study will find effects much bigger than they really are,

and this risk goes up when you have a small study.

This doesn't mean the researchers did something wrong, it just happens sometimes.

Researchers did have some specific concerns about this study too, like some statistical

analysis choices or the fact that winning the gambling task might've changed hormones,

even if the power pose didn't.

So scientists set out to replicate the study, to see if they could reproduce any of the

"life-changing" effects of striking a power pose.

And some studies did find a mixed bag of benefits.

However, when researchers from the University of Zurich recruited a big sample of 200 people,

and published a study in 2015, they didn't find any hormone changes, or any differences

in risk-taking behavior.

Though people did say they felt more powerful after the power poses.

Meanwhile, a study from the University of Pennsylvania published in 2017 also failed

to find any differences when 247 men tried the different poses.

No testosterone differences, no behavioral differences, and no difference in feeling powerful.

Many researchers from other institutions tried to reproduce the effects, too, adding their

papers to a special collection published in the journal Comprehensive Results in Social

Psychology in 2017.

They failed to find differences in cortisol, testosterone, and risk taking behaviors, too.

But they did sometimes find that people felt a little more powerful.

So it seems like posing like Wonder Woman doesn't actually do as much as that original

study thought, if anything at all.

Some studies do find effects, but a lot don't.

Two of the original authors have weighed in on this controversy, too.

One author, Dr. Carney, says she no longer believes that power poses do anything and

that the original study had various flaws.

But her coauthor Dr. Cuddy says there might be other things that could explain why some

studies find effects but others don't.

For example, some studies make people do social things, like work on a task with partners,

while others don't.

Since power is a social expression, she thinks this difference could matter, and recommends

that people study it.

But not all scientists are convinced, including Dr. Carney.

Dr. Cuddy also points out that while we don't know whether hormones or behaviors are directly

affected by power poses, there is evidence that people sometimes feel more powerful...

which is not nothing.

Feeling powerful could have effects like boosting confidence or making you more assertive.

But we do need more research to fully understand what's going on here, psychologically.

So where does this leave us?

Power poses are a great example of science in action, and a good warning not to read

too deeply into a flashy new discovery until it's been well tested.

Body language can definitely communicate lots of things to other people.

But as for how standing like a superhero affects the poser… if you feel more powerful, that's

great for you and might be helpful!

But maybe don't count on power poses to revolutionize your life.

Shami Kabab Recipe—Bakra Eid Special | Easy pan-fried, ground mutton or beef kebabs - Duration: 5:28.

Shami Kabab, a fried kabab

boneless mutton or beef 1kg (use meat with low fat, high muscle content; trim away excess fat, if any)

chhola'r dal 200g (soaked overnight)

bay leaves 4 pcs; dried red chillies 8 pcs; garlic 20g; ginger 30g; onions 100g

salt 20g

mint leaves 10g; green chillies 16g

raisins 30g; lime juice 10g

ghee 5g; shahi garam masala 4g

1 egg

roughly chop ginger and garlic

meat

chhola'r dal

onions, ginger & garlic

dried red chillies, bay leaves

salt

water

when trying this the first time, we highly recommend boiling in an open pot where you can keep an eye on the water level

the meat needs to be tender but dry

use a pressure cooker only if you are sure of water quantity and cooking time, which will depend on the meat and your location

in a pressure cooker on low heat, our meat cooked in 45 minutes; we added 400g water

once the meat is tender, cook off any excess water on high flame

discard bay leaves

transfer to a grinder jar

grind on lowest setting until mixture is uniform

you may have to scrape down your jar once or twice

a good shami kabab has texture; the mixture shouldn't be smooth or pasty; the meat fibres should be visible

beaten egg

chopped green chillies, chopped mint leaves

raisins

shahi garam masala (link in description)

lime juice

ghee

mix thoroughly

divide into 60g portions

apply ghee on your hands

compact the mixture in your fist

shape into a 6cm disc

patch up cracks, if any

chill kababs until you're ready to serve, or freeze them for later

heat vegetable oil, 1cm deep, to 180°C; it should reach half the height of the kabab

fry on medium heat for 2 minutes on each side

drain from the oil

coriander and coconut chutney

garnish with boiled eggs

I've just ordered myself a $40 telescopic rod from Amazon and we're

testing out if it's actually worth $40 what the capability of this rod is and

have a little bit of fun with it

So collapsed it's very portable, look at that, real small keep it in your backpack...

keep in your car but when you extend it gets to 9 feet long and I love these

kind of rods because I can just have this with me, I can have it on me, I can fish

at any time it's called the "so-gai- ylong" I don't know how to pronounce it it's

called, I'll include a link below. We're gonna be doing two kinds of

fishing with it to see if it is a good overall rod. First

kind of fishing we're doing is we're gonna be throwing plugs and then we're

going to be trying throwing some bait with it. Has anybody used this kind of

telescopic rod before? I've ordered mine off of Amazon for

thirty-forty dollars I'm wondering what your guys experience is to comment that

They came in in a second and they left in a second and I was not equipped or

splashing over there I didn't tie up correctly or anything

and I ended up losing one of my favorite top water plugs because I didn't tie it

right. This worked well but this was the only thing that actually works well. This

is probably a quarter ounce/half ounce. The deadly dick worked well. This would

not work. The rod is not stiff enough. It's not a great overall lure rod

Definitely not a good top water rod. Now the sun's going down we're going to

settle, we're gonna settle in and do some bait fishing now. Just chill.

The comprehensive nature of the two triumphs has led many observers to peg them as early title favourites, particularly with all their main rivals having dropped points already.

The Frenchman was criticised in some quarters for his contribution in 2016/17 but he is now adding goals – four in his last five outings in all competitions - and assists to his already considerable repertoire.

Similarly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, in and out of the team during Mourinho's debut campaign, has begun to showcase the sublime technical qualities that brought him 23 goals and 32 assists in his final campaign with Borussia Dortmund.

The 28-year-old notched four assists in the wins over West Ham and Swansea and it is surely only a matter of time before he starts scoring at the kind of rate he managed in Germany.

And with a supporting cast featuring the likes of Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and, when fit, Ibrahimovic – who signed a new one-year contract this week - United are clearly unlikely to suffer from such profligacy again this term.

However, for all the positivity currently surrounding the Reds, Saturday's meeting with Leicester could arguably be defined as the first real test of their title credentials.

The 2016 champions' renaissance under Craig Shakespeare continues apace and they have shown already this season that they will not be cowed by facing supposedly superior opponents.

Leicester produced an excellent display at Arsenal on the opening day of the season and were unfortunate to return home empty-handed as two late goals cost them in a breathless 4-3 defeat.

Normal service resumed last weekend at the King Power Stadium with victory over Brighton and the Foxes will clearly pose a far greater goal threat to United than Swansea and West Ham mustered.

Shakespeare can call upon the likes of £25 million new boy Kelechi Iheanacho, Shinji Okazaki, Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa as potential partners for Jamie Vardy if he decides to persist with his two-striker approach at Old Trafford.

Slimani (2) and Musa provided a timely illustration of this strength in depth on Wednesday as both cashed in on rare starts by helping themselves to goals in a 4-1 Carabao Cup triumph at Sheffield United.

Even Leonardo Ulloa, previously angling to leave since handing in a transfer request in January, is now a viable back-up option after completing a remarkable U-turn this week by signing a new deal.

There are further positives at the other end of the field, with Harry Maguire slotting in seamlessly alongside Wes Morgan following his £17 million move from Hull City.

The 24-year-old brings some much-needed composure on the ball to the heart of the Leicester rearguard and also provides a genuine threat at set-pieces, as illustrated by the towering back-post header that sealed the eventual 2-0 win over Brighton.

worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House.

But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope

it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions

of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and

without reserve.

This is no time for ceremony.

The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country.

For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery;

and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate.

And what have we to oppose to them?

Shall we try argument?

Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years.

Have we anything new to offer upon the subject?

Nothing.

We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all

in vain.

Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication?

What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted?

Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves.

Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming

on.

We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves

before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry

and Parliament.

Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult;

At first, I was annoyed with all the news she was garnering — for her weight loss, for her crying on television, for her leap from actor to singer to actor — but now I just feel kinda sorry for her.

Shes one of those stars who probably has just as many anti-fans (if not more) as she does fans.

She originally leapt into the public eye as a TV comedienne, but suddenly became the center of attention when she lost a bunch of weight.

Dropping 13 kilograms (nearly 30 pounds), her transformation from a loud big girl to tall and svelte meant that the nation was immediately analyzing her diet and exercise routine, marveling at her success and attempting to re-create it.

And then, of course, the backlash. She was making the transition from comedienne and actress to pop singer, while talking about weight loss and filming a reality special centered around her transformation.

She was criticized for faking emotion when she broke down in tears onscreen earlier this year; people accused her of putting on an act to cause a stir and promote interest in her TV program.

Then, in the midst of her pop-singer activities, she also made time to act in a guest role in the TV historical drama The King and I. People criticized her some more, this time for acting when she should be singing.

Kim Mi Ryeo, before and after. I agree that her scattershot approach does make her look like she may be overreaching, but thats her problem, not mine.

And shes an easy target because shes female and she used to be fat (or what the Korean public deems fat for its female stars) and therefore less likely to be taken seriously.

(Remember Jo Jung Rin? Shes cute and chubby and people say, Aw, shes so talented! Too bad shes chubby or shell forever be relegated to sidekick roles. Then she loses weight and people say, Oh my god, how dare they make her lose weight? or Now shes ready to be a REAL actress! Seriously.

People talked about her newly slimmed-down physique as being an indicator that she was ready for the next step — as though her few extra pounds precluded her from success.).

People are so busy scrutinizing every sign of weight loss or gain with Kim Mi Ryeo — this time shes making widespread headlines (CNB News, Maeil News) for gaining some weight back in the dreaded yo-yo effect — that theyve overlooked the fact that hey, shes actually not a bad singer.

Or, if her singing ability is acknowledged, the credit is given extremely grudgingly.

When discussing her role in King and I, nobody actually bothers to review her acting performance — they just harp that its unfair she was given a role so easily, that she must not take her singing career seriously if shes jumping back into television, et ceteraaaa.

Because heaven forbid a woman actually possess more than ONE limited talent and try to express them all. But no, theyd rather talk about how shes back to eating salads and sweet potatoes to get back to her lower weight.

Sometimes I really hate the entertainment industry.
