Castle Builder RTS Engine - Building Custom Vehicles, Fortresses - Duration: 3:25.

In this demonstration of Castle Builder Engine

I start by demoing the new vehicle builder mechanic

Vehicles are built in the same way that buildings are constructed, by placing parts

Each placed part has a progress bar over it

Signifying how much work needs to be done until its construction is completed

After all the vehicle parts are placed, the player must send workers to build the vehicle to completion

Move workers close to an incompleted construction project to have them start working on it

Once the vehicle is completely built, the player can highlight the vehicle's components

And then click the "Create Vehicle" button to tell the game that it is a vehicle instead of a static building

The game will then create a vehicle out of the parts

The player can now tell their units to board the vehicle

and command their vehicle to move around like any other unit under their control

I'll put some soldiers on my new vehicle and have them go capture a command point

To drop off units from a vehicle, first select the vehicle

And then click the "Deploy Units" button

My soldiers can now capture this command point

In the mean time, I will have my workers build some fortifications around this base to protect it

Walls are easily placed by clicking and dragging in a line the direction you want the wall to span

Workers nearby will automatically start building

While my workers are building my defenses, I will send my soldiers out to conquer more command points

Hyundai launches a new, longer range fuel-cell vehicle

Hyundai has taken the covers off a new hydrogen-powered SUV it claims can run up to 800km on a single tank of fuel.

The yet to be named model will replace the previous ix35 fuel-cell vehicle that is currently being trialled on Australian roads.

Hyundai engineers were in Australia last month to carry out cold-weather testing of two prototypes of the new car in the Snowy Mountains, while the ACT Government has committed to take 20 of the vehicles — and build a hydrogen refuelling station — for its Hornsdale Windfarm Project.

The cars are expected to be delivered late next year and will be supplied with green electricity from the wind farm. The ACT Government is also spending $55 million on a hydrogen electrolyser, which uses electricity to produce hydrogen.

The car industry is divided about the future of fuel-cell vehicles, with some makers saying the lack of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure means that plug-in battery powered EVs are a better way of replacing cars with internal combustion engines.

Tesla boss Elon Musk has called the technology "incredibly dumb" but others, including Toyota and Honda, are investing heavily in it. Toyota's Mirai and Honda's Clarity are already sold to private customers in California.

In Europe, BMW is rumoured to be planning to unveil a fuel-cell vehicle at next month's Frankfurt motor show.

Fuel-cell vehicles have a key advantage over the current crop of electric vehicles as they can be refuelled in minutes, as with a conventional car, while most EVs require several hours to recharge from a household power point.

Fast-charging stations reduce the time but still take more than an hour for a full charge. Hydrogen-fuelled cars also have greater range than plug-in EVs.

But the stumbling block remains refuelling stations. Australia has just one permanent station, built by Hyundai in Sydney to fuel development prototypes.

Cabin of Hyundai fuel-cell vehicle. Source:Supplied. Hyundai claims its fourth-generation fuel cell improves on efficiency, range, performance and durability. The company says it has also improved the hydrogen storage in the vehicle.

Efficiency is claimed to be improved by roughly 10 per cent, while range increases by a third from the current claim of 594km.

Hyundai says the new model has 20 per cent better performance and improved cold-start ability. Cold starts have been problematic for fuel-cell vehicles but Hyundai claims the new model can start at minus 30.

The company says the new model will also be cheaper to produce, making it more attractive to buyers.

Hyundai will also continue to work on development of plug-in electric vehicles and hybrids as it introduces 31 "eco-friendly" models to global markets by 2020.

The company already sells a plug-in hybrid car, the Ioniq, and plans to launch an EV version of its Kona compact SUV, with a claimed range of 390km, in the first half of next year.

It plans to have a long-range EV that can travel 500km on a single charge by 2021.

Hyundai to make version of 'crossover truck' concept vehicle for U.S.

If you ever wanted to know what it might look like to pair a pickup truck with a crossover vehicle, you might finally get the chance.

Hyundai confirmed Tuesday that it would make a production version of a crossover truck concept it first revealed at the Detroit auto show in January 2015 in a bid to lure Millennial buyers.

The Santa Cruz will hit the U.S. market at an unspecified time, aiming to capitalize on Americans obsession with both pickup trucks and crossover vehicles amid low gasoline prices and shifting design preferences toward roomier rides.

The Korean automaker did not reveal any details about the design, so its unclear whether the real-life version of the Santa Cruz will resemble the blended design or move into a more conventional direction.

But the company said in January 2015 that the vehicle was aimed at urban adventurers who need a flexible vehicle for work and recreation.

This innovative offering will be inspired by the well-received concept vehicle and bring a fresh utility vehicle interpretation to fit the lifestyles of a new generation of buyers, the company said Tuesday in a statement.

The four-door, five-seat concept model had a 2-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 190 horsepower with fuel economy in the high 30 mpg range.

Hyundai does not sell a pickup truck in the U.S. market. And the Santa Cruz probably wont target traditional pickup buyers.

Instead, the company said in 2015 that the concept was aimed at consumers who would usually buy a crossover or sedan but would like greater utility without the compromises that traditional trucks often require..

The Korean automaker needs an injection of energy. It has been struggling due to its heavy commitment to passenger cars, which Americans are swiftly ditching. The Santa Cruz is not to be mistaken for the Hyundai Santa Fe, a compact SUV.
