Youtube daily what Aug 4 2017

It was the type of story that I don't go searing for it, it was the type that just kind of fell

in front of me when I was interviewing people for other stories.

We always ended up talking about Trump.

The chaos in Washington is really clouding these huge regulatory changes that are happening

in the energy and environment area.

Huge policy changes are happening and nobody is really paying attention outside

of the little world that I operate in.

Trump is undoing everything that Obama did.

And then some.

Last week I was talking with the former EPA administrator Bill Ruckelshaus and talking

about all of these regulations that are being repealed.

He was saying, "Well I'm not sure if people are really noticing."

because there are so many other things going on.

When we have articles left and right telling us that North Korea just launched another missile

and crazy things that Anthony Scaramucci was saying,

I mean it just makes a policy issue seem less pressing.

The EPA is being incredibly productive in repealing regulations.

Bill Ruckelshaus, what he said is, only a major environmental catastrophe,

something like the BP oil spill would galvanize attention but we don't want to be asking

for a tragedy like that to motivate people to pay attention.

So going forward, I don't see - I don't see necessarily anything changing.

PokéOrigins► What is Tornadus? Fujin Shinto Wind Kami! w/@Aegislash3r - Duration: 2:54.

Hmmm...I need a new Pokemon to investigate!

Like in the last video, we found that Whimsicott floats on the wind just like the Saci.

I kinda want to stay on that wind theme so is there a Pokemon like that.

That's a mighty strong gust of wind.

Oh...Tornadus!

Hehehe...Yeah let's do it.

I always liked Tornadus mostly because hes the only pure Flying Pokemon.

I mean just look at how swole he is.

Those are some real biceps.

Pumping that iron.

Huh?

What's wrong?!

I'm getting off track!

Well do you have anything to share Rotom Dex?!

I'm expected to read this?

Fine!

"Tornadus expels massive energy from its tail, causing severe storms.

Its power is great enough to blow houses away.

The lower half of its body is wrapped in a cloud of energy.

It zooms through the sky at 200 mph."

Let me get this straight he's basically an angry man flying around on a cloud whipping

up storms and blowing people houses away.

He sounds a bit vindictive, but is there any myth as a base of Tornadus origins?

Whelp there appears to be one; Fujin, the Japanese god of the wind and one of the eldest

Shinto gods.

Fujin is usually portrayed as a terrifying wizard-like demon, resembling a red headed

green-skinned humanoid being wearing a leopard skin, carrying a large bag of winds on his

shoulders.

He usually has 4 fingers on each hand — one for each direction.

East, Wst, North, South you get it!

I would be a liar if I didn't see the resemblance.

That's kinda cool.

Is there anything else about Fujin?

Fujin was present at the creation of the world and when he first let the winds out of his

bag, they cleared the morning mists and filled the space between heaven and earth so the

sun shone.

So Tornadus is a wind God huh?!

I go from a Brazilian prankster to a freaking Japanese wind God.

Man Pokemon is crazy.

Anyway I'll be leaving the video here.

If you enjoyed it maybe leave a like and until next time peace.

What Do Police Think About Killing Animals? - Duration: 5:04.

Police: It's quite a difficult position still isn't it, for something that isn't illegal.

Police: and um, so you have to support it,

Police: no matter what a person thinks.

James: Well, that's the whole point.

James: I mean, even what like slavery was legal but I am sure it took certain individuals

James: to come to a point where they realized, ok this law is unjust

James: and I am sure, you know

Police: People like yourself where the people that can create change

James: Oh well you know, we all try um and you know like I was saying

James: with the actual holocaust a lot of people did that job because they thought it was legal

James: because it was legal, everything Hitler did was legal.

James: but obviously it wasn't right

James: and so, I mean

James: We do what we are told to a point

James: Like I understand it, that your job is

Police: What we do as police?

James: Yeah

Police: We make that choice I guess dont we

James: Sure but if someone told you to do something that you believe was immoral

James: You know what I mean, you can still do it

James: and I guess that's when it comes to the point where you do start to become a balancing act

James: and that's

Police: It is an interesting balancing act

James: It is, it is man

James: Like I don't envy the position to be in it

James: Like some points wouldn't be easy

James: As you just said

James: you can empathize with it

James: Do you find that there is some sort of level of hypocrisy when

James: you both are men of the law, you uphold justice,

James: you protect

James: and

James: say for example, someone was a victim of violence in the morning

James: I am sure you two would be the first to go in there and stop that violence happening

James: to that innocent being

James: that innocent person

James: and then later in the day

James: perhaps

James: you would go

James: perhaps, you would do what most of us have done

James: in the past

James: me, up to only a few years ago

James: and you would purchase an animal product

James: so you might buy a chicken burger

James: and although it seems quite a mundane action

James: what you are doing there is paying for the mutilation and the torture and the murder

James: of an innocent being

James: so it's like, if you do empathise

James: if you do empathise with that being cruel and violent and unnecessary

James: as I think we can all prove that it is

James: none of us need to eat animal products to survive and thrive

James: in fact, we are far healthier and likelier to live longer and

James: reduce our chances of many diseases.

James: So, if it becomes this unnecessary violence

James: do you feel like, on some level there's a hypocrisy with

James: fighting against violence and then paying for it later in the day?

Police: Yeah, totally agree

James: Yeah, great man

Police: I'd be stupid if I didn't say that was hypocritical.

Police: If I didn't like animals being slaughtered but then I went and had a burger

Police: chicken, whatever it might be

James: Yeah

Police: and that's something that

Police: is difficult because it's been ingrained in us hasn't it

James: Absolutly

Police: and we could carry on that path and it is very very difficult to

Police: change your state of mind in relation to eating meat

James: I know man

James: I've been dealing with people trying to get them...

Police: Have you been a meat eater previously?

James: Oh yeah, THE meat eater

Officer: *Laughing*

James: I would stack my plate up with a pyramid of meat if that was what was on offer

James: and I could

James: but I think it got to the point where first of all

James: I realsed that we could live and thrive without eating meat

Police: Yeah, if the world started all over again today, would we do it?

James: Why would we do it?

James: There is no need.

James: And then I took it a step further because I realised, you know, I did it for health initially

James: then I learned what happens to the animals and I decided

James: that I'm not ok with that

James: You know, I'm a peaceful person, respectful

James: and every time I buy an animal product...

James: It's like in the court of law here I believe

James: If I pay you to kill somebody, we both go down equally for that murder

James: Right?

James: and if I pay someone for an animal product

James: I'm paying not just for this package

James: but for everything that happened to that animal along the way

James: All the brutality, all the killing

James: and you know, it can seem hard to change

James: I was a massive meat eater for a long time

James: when I realized that there is as much cruelty in dairy and eggs and all animal products

James: they all come from cruelty

James: I decided, that actually doesn't make sense to not eat meat

James: but still eat dairy

James: It's either you are against animal cruelty and injustice, or you're not

James: and if you are, then the least you do is be vegan

James: I know a lot of people think "Oh vegan, man that is extreme."

James: but vegans... There's nothing extreme about it bro

James: you eat delicious, amazing food

James: It's healthier, but most importantly

James: you've stopped being extreme, because what's extreme is

James: saying you love animals and you're against animal cruelty

James: and then you pay people to torture and kill them

James: So that's all it is man

James: and if it is something that is starting to perhaps resonate for whatever reason

James: all you've gotta do is just look up "how do I go vegan?" online

James: and you just start, man. You just start having more vegan meals

James: When your toothpaste runs out, you get a toothpaste that wasn't tested on animals

James: It is legitimately so easy and so delicious

James: and so, I guess it just takes each and every one of us though to be the change

James: and to say, "Ok, that's wrong! I am contributing to it."

James: This is, as well, the most harm that anyone of us are causing man.

James: You know, we're good people in almost every other aspect of our life

James: but then this one thing we do, three times a day

James: is causing a literal...

James: You've heard them (the animals) scream today

James: It's an actual horror show, man.

James: And they're like children, they are so innocent

James: They are like children. Yhey don't know what's going on.

James: And they suffer this whole time

James: So, yeah man, it's about realising the injustice and then taking your involvement out of it.

James: And that's all that being vegan is

James: Yeah

Police: You make a lot of sense

James: It is a very logical stance.

James: Any way man I've gotta head off

James: Nice to meet you brother thanks a lot

Police: Ok

James: Thanks man, thank you very much

James: See you guys

Onlooker: You are amazing, you are a huge inspiration and activist to all of us

James: Thanks

Onlooker 2: I want to know how you stay so calm?

James: Because I was there, because we where all there a few years ago

James: Yeah that is right, it's about helping each other do better

James: not blaming and shaming anybody, but it is about helping

James: each other, realise we can do better and inspiring people to do that.

James: Try and inspire people to do that

James: because it is like where not, because we are victims as well of this thought process

James: This society that has told us that this is ok

James: so if you realize that everyone else is has been conditioned this way

James: It is not that they are our enemies that are doing this whole thing deliberately, once they can't help it

Police: Sorry guys

James: Yeah man, really nice to talk to you bro, thanks

James: I didn't know why I

Onlooker: He has got good people skills

Look What's Been Hacked Now! This Is More Dangerous Than The DNC Email Server, You'll Be Speechless - Duration: 13:42.

Government Took $ 1.6

Million Of

Your Tax Dollars To Spend On This!

You'll Be Angry…

With regards to fraud, waste, and abuse, most offenders and huge government spenders will

stay nearby one of three major territories: Social Security, Medicare, and welfare.

This isn't one of those spots.

This sort of waste is new.

You've most likely heard about six stories about the legislature paying individuals to

reveal to us what we definitely know.

'Being obese is unhealthy;' well, much obliged, virtuoso.

'Smoking is terrible for you;' you don't state.

What's more, today, we have another one: 'drinking soda isn't good for you.'

And this specific pearl of a perception accompanies – sit tight for it – a $1.6 million price

tag.

The truth is stranger than fiction – a million and a half, to have the capacity to tell individuals

that soda isn't good for you.

Via The Daily Caller:

The National Institute of Health (NIH) awarded Augusta University physiologist Ruth Harris

$ 1.6 million to study the health effects of soft drinks on people.

The four-year grant will be used to determine why sugar sucrose is more potent, or cause

weight gain faster, when pour in the form of a soda than when it is eaten as solid food.

So, it's fair, we're not so much discovering that soda is bad for you – we're just

trying to determine how bad.

Interesting question, I guess.

But I can not see the answer worth $ 1.6 million.

Or, on the other hand, any place near $1.6 million.

Also, it's difficult to see exactly where every one of these costs is originating from.

[Physiologist Ruth] Harris will use lab rats for the study, feeding them sugar water and

measuring their body's response.

Harris' research focuses on the hormone leptin, which helps control body composition.

Possibly… perhaps the rats are truly costly?

Maybe we're having them transported in.

From Mars.

The most amazing piece of this entire study is found in the Caller's last section:

The $ 1.6 million grant will cover four years of research, at the end of which Harris will

have to finish her research on the project or reapply for more funding.

Things being what they are, you're stating… this could cost more than $1.6 million?

Dear God.

See, we should make this simple – soda is terrible for you.

Try not to drink excessively of it.

Problem solved, right?

What do you think about this?

Do not hesitate and write your thoughts in the comment section below.

Thank you for reading.

What's More Effective: Tummy Tucks vs. Liposuction (Body Contouring) - Duration: 5:27.

so people come in and they want something done with their belly right

they don't know exactly what it is sometimes they know they know it's a

tummy tuck their friend had a tummy tuck they they've had three kids their weight

is stable they're done with their children here they want a tummy tuck

because the skin is lose the muscles are loose you gotta repair the whole thing

they know it right and sometimes people come in and they're at the other end of

spectrum there are 25 years old they haven't had any kids they might have

kids they're not sure they want to leave their options open and their skins still

pretty tight and muscles are tight and they know they don't they don't need a

tummy tuck they take their liposuction they may not be liposuction they may be

a candidate for sculpsure which is a non-invasive way of getting rid of fat

it's not as strong as liposuction and it's not as effective

it only gets maybe 20% of the fat but it's still a really nice alternative cuz

it's not surgery for certain people right but there's that whole grey group

in the middle that is a little bit loose it's a little bit full of fat it's the

muscles are a little bit loose how do you know how do you know what to do whoo

that's a tough one and that takes experience it takes really intense

listening on the part of the surgeon to know what's going to fit into this

person's life right because a tummy tuck is a really powerful surgery but it's

got a recovery it's got a scar it's got an unparalleled ability to sculpt the

the abdomen it's really really great now their options on tummy tuck right but

let's just take a minute and talk about the combination of liposuction and a

tummy tuck okay can you do both safely because that's actually a kind of like

something that we talk about in plastic surgery is somewhat being controversial

in my mind it's not controversial the answer is yes you can and how do I know

that because I've done it for you know 20 years there's a couple of things that

you got to know if you're going to do liposuction predominantly of the abdomen

at the same time as a tummy tuck and this is all described by a guy named Ted

Lockwood back say in the mid 80s where he talked about discontinuously

undermining the flap and by that he meant instead of opening up all of the

abdominal wall so you can tighten the muscles you leave a lot of it intact and

you leave the perforating blood vessels intact supply the skin it makes it a

really robust flap and you can do a tummy tuck that way and liposuction at

the same time and that combination is really wonderful it allows you if you

don't do that you can't sculpt the beautiful abdomen you just can't do it and

then you're settling for something less than and you know trick is too fun

figure out a way to get more than and do it safely and that's what we've

been doing here for 20 years maybe two three hundred tummy tucks a year here

that's I think 6x the national average the cosmetic surgeons an extraordinary

number and you know we have really really fabulous results check out our

website you'll see them they're not our best ten percent they're just

representative of what we can do it's very important that you be examined one

way or another to differentiate what kind of candidate you are you might want

liposuction but when I examine you you might really be a tummy tuck and and

vice versa so optimally you're live in the area you come on in and you take a

look at you here's choose the criteria for telling time you've got to have be

done you really ought to be done with your children all right you've done

childbearing is done your muscles are loose your skin is loose you're at a

stable weight and you don't mind a scar you have finally you have probably a

couple of weeks to take off out of your life you know something like that so you

can first week take it easy the second week you're you know usually driving and

moving around but it's still you know it's it's a it's a real surgery it

involves a recovery and easier you take it the better you're going to do and I

think in that second week one day whether it's day eight or day 13 you

kind of get it all back again and you might be tired so that's why I tell

people just really trying to take a little bit of time off usually two weeks

if you're going to go to work if you don't meet those criteria right you're

not sure that you don't aren't done with your children your skin isn't loose your

muscles are not stretched out you don't have there were time to recover and you

don't want to scar right if you meet those criteria then really are in the

liposuction candidates category and then you come in and we

have a conversation and i have to exam you and make sure the skin is you know

tighten up to contract after we liposuction because not it can come out

irregular and that's something that you're trading one problem for another

and a little voice in your head that says I don't like my belly I don't want

to go to the beach it just it's just traded for another voice that says I

don't like my belly I don't want to go to the beach because it was

loose in the first place but now it's your regular and we don't like that

either if you don't care right you just want to

look good in clothes and you don't really care what your abdomen looks like

well that opens up a lot of possibilities that if you do care we

really can't you really can't entertain go ahead and

What's Underneath a Client's Anger? - Duration: 4:44.

What lives at the core of anger?

What's beneath the devastating

power of hostility and the

explosive reactivity of rage?

And how do we help people safely

navigate this anger? I've been

talking lately with just about

all the top experts in our

field, asking them crucial

questions like these. Take a

look. I think you'll find

their insights useful.

Working with angry,

hostile clients. I think

that's one of the hardest

things, because especially if

they're angry or

hostile toward you.

Rule one that I learned in

treating angry people is that if

you tell an angry person that

their problem is anger, they'll

get angry at you – you don't

want to make that mistake. So I

did that, I said it to them and

that's exactly what happened;

everybody got angry at me, and I

didn't like it. So then I told

them next time, I said, "Your

problem is irritability." And

they were immediately, "Yes,

that's it! That's exactly it!"

If people grow up in a family

where they weren't allowed to be

angry, that anger can often come

out sideways, and it's not

really owned and recognized. If

people never owned their anger,

we have to help them reclaim

that part of themselves so they

can be assertive and can be

angry in more of

a conscious way.

When healthy aggression is

thwarted, then we have anger.

When anger is thwarted – not

permitted – then we get

hostility. We're moving from

hostility to anger to

power and strength.

Hostility implies

intent to harm. I need to

understand the harm the client

feels they've experienced and

empathize with their need to

hurt back. Very often, clients

will want to hurt back or take

revenge to feel empowered rather

than collapsing into shame or

vulnerability. Nothing very much

is going to happen in therapy

unless I can get the client

unstuck from the

shame-blame-revenge loop.

People who act angry

are not so good at

feeling anger. When anger arises

in us, if we immediately

discharge it and immediately

start yelling or criticizing or

even just writing nasty letters,

we don't actually get to feel

the texture of the anger – we

don't get to sit with it,

because it just discharges into

behavior. To actually feel anger

and to know anger, one has to be

able to feel it and not

immediately discharge it.

For people that have a hairpin

reaction to anger and rage,

anger was probably their primary

protector when they were young –

or it was a part of them that

got locked up when they were

young, but has now sworn it

would never let itself not be

around anymore. Either way, it

dominates all the time.

Anger is a very

important emotion – it

makes people change – if people

are passive and compliant, now

that worries me. Anger is a

major asset to help you to

protect yourself and to

stand up for yourself.

Every individual is different,

and we can't just

make a broad statement: Anger

and hostility is..." this or

that. But, for me as a

clinician, knowing all of those

varieties of developmental

pathways that would bring you

here, the approach I would take

initially is the same, which is,

beneath the anger and hostility

is a longing to

belong – for everybody.

So the challenge for

me is - and I think for all

therapists - is to find that

place of tenderness for this

client and to see the expression

of hostility as the topography -

you know, that's just what is

being shown to us. It is not all

who the person is. And indeed

it's difficult. Indeed it's

very, very difficult.

Working with a client

who's angry, or

even hostile, can be

challenging. That's why it's so

important to get to what's

underneath that anger. Now I'd

like to hear from you. What are

some strategies you've used when

working with a client's anger?

Please tell us about it in the

comment section below. And

thanks for watching.

What are Net Pots and Hydroponic System explained | Benefits of Net pots in Gardening - Duration: 7:39.

Hello Friends!

Todays Topic is in brief on What is a Net pot and What is a Hydroponic System..

Stay tuned..

What are Net Pots?

Net pots or Hydroponic netpots are mini plastic pots with a net framework, commonly used in

hydroponic gardening, and are used to anchor the plants in the hydroponic system.

They can be used with or without a growing medium like cocopeat, soil, neoprene collars,

etc.

Hydroponic net pots are often reusable and made from rigid plastic mesh to promote drainage

and air circulation.

Net pots have also been known to optimize root growth and plant development.

Because of the holes that are present at all the sides of the pots, plants can easily acquire

moisture and nutrients.

Many different plants can be grown using net pots in hydroponic systems.

What does Hydroponic System mean?

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without using soil (i.e., soil less).

This technique instead uses a mineral nutrient solution in a water solvent, allowing the

nutrient uptake process to be more efficient than when using soil.

There are several types or variations of hydroponics.

Hydroponics is suitable for commercial food producers and hobbyist gardeners alike.

Hydroponics possesses several advantages over a soil medium.

Unlike plants grown in soil, plants grown in a hydroponics system do not need to develop

extensive root structures to search for nutrients.

It is easier to test and adjust pH levels.

In the hydroponics method, plants are raised in an inert and perfectly pH balanced growing

medium where the plants only need to expend minimal energy to acquire nutrients from the

roots.

The energy saved by the roots is better spent on fruit and flower production.

Its broadly of 2 types Active and Passive.

An Active hydroponic system moves the nutrient solution actively using a pump.

A passive system moves it using a wick this is not the preferred method and unreliable.

Hydroponic system includes the following methods or growing techniques most of which are built

with plastic: Static Solution Culture

Nutrient film technique (NFT) or Continuous flow solution method.

a very shallow stream of water containing all the dissolved nutrients required for plant

growth is recirculated past the bare roots of plants in a watertight thick root mat,

which develops in the bottom of the channel and has an upper surface that, although moist,

is in the air.

Subsequent to this, an abundant supply of oxygen is provided to the roots of the plants.

Wicks system thats passive system Ebb and flow (flood and drain) - In its

simplest form, there is a tray above a reservoir of nutrient solution.

Either the tray is filled with growing medium (clay granules being the most common) and

then plant directly or place the pot or net pots over medium, stand in the tray.

At regular intervals, a simple timer causes a pump to fill the upper tray with nutrient

solution, after which the solution drains back down into the reservoir.

This keeps the medium regularly flushed with nutrients and air.

The commonly used Drip irrigation system is also a part of hydroponic system.

Aeroponic system: Aeroponics is a system wherein roots are continuously or discontinuously

kept in an environment saturated with fine drops (a mist or aerosol) of nutrient solution.

The method requires no substrate and entails growing plants with their roots suspended

in a deep air or growth chamber with the roots periodically wetted with a fine mist of atomized

nutrients.

Excellent aeration is the main advantage of aeroponics.

Well going into details of each one of them is beyond my scope right now.

So Coming Back to Net Pots ? Because Net pots are cheap and easily available,

they are commonly used by small-scale agricultural planters and gardeners.

These are available in different sizes ranging from 2 inches to 6 inches diameter.

The net-pots are especially beneficial for smaller plants and the pots can additionally

be used with several types of growing media.

Roots can grow directly through the open meshwork as the plants develops and infact this can

actually encourage healthier and stronger root system in plants.

In hydroponics system with netpots, different types of potting media are added to help the

plants grow and thrive.

Like, Gravel or growstones, coco husk, perlite, vermiculite, rockwool, hydroton, etc and any

other growth medium that is large enough not to come out through the holes of the net pot.

In some cases, net pots are used on bubbler buckets as well.

Net pots make it convenient to transfer the hydroponic plants without causing any damage

to the roots or stems.

The oversized lip around the top of the Net Pot makes it easier to grab, lift, and transport.

Whether you're using netpots for either hydroponic or soil-based, the Net Pots work with all

types of growing media.

Thats all in this video friends.

See you again with some other new informational video.

Take care and bye!

【Chitchat / ちっチャット】 What do you like about Sudan?/ スーダンについて何が好き?/ ماذا تحب في السودان؟ - Duration: 4:21.

What i really like about Sudan

The most thing that i like about Sudanese is their Kindness

Everyone is so gentle

first, they are so friendly

and i think that is a very good thing

I love Sudanese so much!

Ma Sha'allah!

About Sudan

I love people's kindness

Once, there was that time in summer where

i was searching for "fool" (common traditional meal in Sudan)

and i was searching everywhere in shops

but i wasn't able to find it

Even the first time you meet someone,

even if you meet someone you don't know at all,

if you talk to them,

they instantly answer back in ease

and when i start the conversation

the conversation just keeps on going smoothly

At that moment,

in front of a shop

i met an old man

who asked me: what's wrong?

i said: I'm searching for "fool" but i can't find it anywhere nearby

even when i speak with my broken Arabic

they become so happy that i speak Arabic

he gave me some, and i asked him: How much is it?

he answered: it's free because we are brothers

even compared to Japanese

people interactions are

are more friendly

It's something so beautiful about Sudan

People love greetings and answer them back instantly

Even if you don't start greeting,

they will ask: how are you

friendly with a smile

i'm so happy

when i need information about Bus lines

and shopping at local markets

and a lot more, i'm so grateful

for the kind people to teach me

one more thing, I love "Sit Al-Shai" ( the local Tea Lady)

so much!

i think it's a nice culture

you talk to a lot of people even if you don't know them

Everyone

calls you "Nihao" and "China"

thinking i'm from China

When i say "I'm from Japan"

They Say: Japan (Tamam)!

"Japan is Good" !

which makes me happy

usually while i'm walking to University

on my way,

people say "Nihao"!

or "Hello" or "China" !

How should i put this

even if i don't go to Sit Al-Shai (local Tea Lady)

the people who are sitting on the roadside

from their smiles, you feel the atmosphere of happiness coming form them

I REALLY love Sit Al-Shai the most in Sudan

i love Sit Al-shai!

in Portsudan

There is that Island Called "Sanganeb"

and Kasala (a City in East Sudan)

and Sinnar ( a City in middle Sudan)

places that people don't really visit

Sudanese are so tender, kind and gentle

They treat us like family member

i'm really thankful

i turned to be the most thing i love

Just like my story before

Always

Always you will be saved by someone

to put it in one word?

it's "warm"

a "warm family" country

yes, i love Sudan

"hashtag" really? who made this idea

Ryan said *what* about Juwan Morgan? - Duration: 1:38.

... which will be interesting to see, you know, if that happens, because that would open up scholarships

Juwan Morgan could go after this year if he's healthy. I think.

Could go where?

Go pro.

Juwan Morgan?

Oh yeah

We'll talk later. I'll tell you why.

Oh. Oh boy.

I mean is there any other reason why someone would go to the NBA besides they're a really good player? I just don't think he's good enough to --

Oh no, I think I think that's what's gonna happen

They're gonna like, they're starting to go after these swiss army knife guys, and he's gonna be one.

I mean I like the confidence

No

I'm not saying like he may not even be like First-team all-big ten but I think he could go

because of the swiss Army knife factor.

I'm very confident that that could happen. I'm not saying it will, viewers,

I'm not predicting that. I'm saying he could --

Hashtag #twoyearplan, hashtag #twoyearplan

There it was.

Shut the --

Bingo!

It's a shame that that's not gonna make it on to the radio or into the podcast.

This is this is just for our loyal live listeners.

That could be your favorite memory from the show Jerod.

All right, let's go. I gotta get back to work now.

No, I want to talk about Noah Vonleh. Let's go back to that.

Let me compose myself. Alright, let's do this.

Jack Ma: What Does It Take To Be Successful (jack ma speech) - Duration: 38:20.

I are been expecting this day to come to

Africa for a long long time and this is

my first day and this day inspired me a

lot and I I had excite expectations'

before I came to Africa but even that

the resulting for a whole day today is

better than I expected and especially

when I am a very lucky person in the

past 18 years in my apartment I talk to

18 young people like me that we want to

build up a company using Internet to

help doing business easier to using

Internet to support every small business

support every young people every women

that if they have a dream if they have

some ideas will we enable them to make

that dream true and sell things sell

their products all of the world that was

the ninth that was year 2 1999 in my

apartment

well very few people believe that but we

made it happen in only 18 years I'm a

very very lucky person and people say

have you ever learned business before

have you done business before have you

learned they like MBAs no I have never

learned any knowledge about how to do

business I never got even one day of

training of computer I stood out stood

even to today

I don't know how computer works

a lot of people challenge me how can you

run is such a big ecommerce company with

other knowing with other knowingly

anything but a knowledge without

anything about the financing and

marketing and I say this is because I

know people I know what people want I

know what people don't want and this is

crooked where I learned that I learned

my experience of working with people

when I was a student in the university I

was not a good student that's why I

really don't like a lot of a good

students I'm always like a man that can

or 15 never we got the number one number

two in my class from primary school to

university I filled three times for the

universities and finally I got into the

university ask you tell myself I should

spend them all time not try to be the

number one but try to be the number one

person that can help and work with

people I was elected as the chairman of

the Students Union of my University and

later become the students unit chairman

of the students unit of how our city our

city has over a hundred thousand

students and I was the chairman of that

universe of that Union my job is to work

with the people listen to the students

do what I can do this I learned how to

work with people because at that time we

don't have any money

all right the only thing you want to win

the respect is by supporting other

people and when I graduate I learned a

lot from my job my first a job I was

trained to be a high school teacher and

because I was supposed to be one of the

best of students in the school so I was

assigned to teaching University for six

years and I know one of the secret of

being a good teacher is always a

finished class five minutes earlier

no matter how want will you teach if you

have five more minutes teaching students

don't like to you if you finish here

efficient and teach the teacher the

students and share with the students how

to learn instead of putting all the

knowledge in their mind writing all of

all the things of blackboard you will

never be popular I was selected at one

of the best astute teachers in the

university but one thing I learned from

teachers later become a CEO is that a

good teacher always expect his students

to better than him stood the teacher

want his students be good I want this

student we are Bankard that they are

mare that be a scientist you don't want

your students this one bankrupted that

one in jail

you always expect your students be

better this is what I learned when I

become a entrepreneur I always want hide

the good people who are smart than I am

and always making sure that they are

better than I am

they always hope that they better than

expect it and if you want them better

training them discipline them supporting

them so I learn a lot the thing I

learned most is being a teacher so I

call myself CEOs chief Education Officer

of the company so in my life I'm telling

to my age I'm 53 in my past years and

always a good student keep on learning

you don't have to be the best but you

have to know who is a better than you

are and work with him and always be a

good teacher a good teacher share the

knowledge and expect the other people

better than Google so these are the two

qualities that I learned and to be a CEO

so go back to this campus is always what

I want

I remember 1994 the day when I decided

to leave this College go to do a

business my president said why

why you want to go do something that

called internet or no internet in China

at that time and why on it because I

said president I being elected that the

best of teachers for university for

three times three years everything I

told my students are the things I learn

from books so if I go and build up

something and then go back I can be a

better teacher this is my original

thinking I never thought I would be rich

I asked my wife when I started my

business I said do you want your husband

to be a rich person ought to be a person

that be respected she said you will

never be rich hi she's right because

nobody thought my father my parents

never thought I would be rich because I

don't have a gene of being rich so even

to today because it's true my my

schoolmates my classmates my teachers my

parents nobody thought I would be

reached this guy be filled with so many

times how can you be rich I never

thought I would be rich even to today

people say Jack you're one of the

richest of people in China in the world

I think this is not my money

I stick to me just to think I'm living

the dream way over 1 million that's your

money we have a 20 million that's the

problem you have to think about the

valuation where should I put the money

in that the real st to buy stocks or

investor VC most of them they were gone

we have worked more than 1 billion

dollars that's the money belong to the

society and people in the society

trusted you can spend the money better

than government so they give you the

money and do better

so I thought I've the responsibilities

to spend the money better more efficient

this is this is what I did so my wife

said be a person that can be respected

not be a person that be rich and this is

always I want to do and like I mean

surely a lot of ideas of young people

how can you be successful and how not to

fill and the third how can be respect it

I'm not a bad person respect a lot of

people in China don't like me because

they say I destroyed their business I

never destroy anybody business they

normally people destroy themselves if

you want to be successful you should

have a high EQ you know IQ EQ and

there's another called L Q the Q of love

if you want to be successful you

shouldn't must have a high EQ because

that a person with a high EQ knows how

to work with the people how to

understand the people how to support

people and if you do not want to fail

now look normally a lot of people get

rich quickly and losing money quickly

because they don't have IQ IQ is

intellectual knowledge you learn when

you have a good knowledge you know where

the knowledge I will always pursue

knowledge to protect your business

protect your people and when you have

high IQ but the world is very fair most

people have each high EQ normally have a

low IQ that they want to learn because

it's smart the street smart they don't

want to be academic right but a lot of

people very academic high IQ but they

have a terrible EQ we have seen a lot of

in the university any move universe in

the world right the top one top one

students normally have high IQ but

terrible EQ but they never feel they got

disappointed but even if you have a high

EQ and ITU you made a lot of money you

made a fortune or you be successful it

become a government medicine person or

whatever but you may not be respected

because you don't have a high ELQ

you the Arab pew is careful others love

the others respect the future respect

the young people so these are three

choose that I think you we need have so

when your student spend them all time

taking care of the other people join the

activities that helping people and spend

time on learning I think this is this is

very very critical and I would say that

people like me I'm from nobody

my father was pretty poor my mother my

father and mother did the pay when I was

young they paid put together is six

dollars a month six no more than select

better times $1 they have to seat four

people

my grandfather no job me my brother and

my sister it was tough and even if I

filled so many times but one thing I

want to tell guys share with you is that

failure does never stopped me and I've

trained to meet a lot of people failure

and then they complain oh my god nobody

helped me I don't have this why though

people don't happen why I don't cannot

keep follow money from the banks why I'm

not the boy you know Bill Gates family

people have a lot of stupid complaints I

have this stupid complete all the

complaints today young people have I

have them I had them I'd complain Bill

Gates I complain Microsoft Oracle all

these companies taking all of our jobs

because we don't have chance and later

fat complaint does not a work I learn

from mr. white people should help you

who are you

what people should help you nobody help

you that is very common people help you

that is uncommon

those people give you the help think

about this is the trust this is how you

did well in your EQ you because you care

for people because you have something

good then people start to help you I was

rejected for so many times as I said

this morning over over 30 jobs apply for

rejected I applied for a KFC 24 people

classmates went up together to d3

accepted I was rejected 5 people went

fully out for a job employees for people

accepted I was filled and my cousin I

waited for 2 hours long queue to be the

waiter of the 4-star hotel in my city in

a very very hot day my brought my

cousin's score was much lower they are

they're mine he was accepted and I feel

rejected so is it a fun no not a fine so

it's very painful when I get used to it

everybody remember you have to get used

to fail it if you cannot get used to

feel it just like a boxing if you cannot

be get used to be hit how can you win so

I get used to that and today I'm surely

experience with a lot of entrepreneurs

I've got a coupon University training

entrepreneurs the thing we teach the

entrepreneurs are different from Harvard

MBA the envied teaching everybody

successful stories when you read it too

many successful stories people got a

crazy they think I can be successful

when you share a lot of failure stories

you learn so I when I start Alibaba

I give failure stories cases to every of

our cult my colleagues let them read it

let them that we discussed no matter how

smart you are in your business in your

way you will make the same mistake again

again the way we teach here the failure

stories not one to you two

vojta mistakes is teach you how to face

the mistakes when you're in trouble

so as young people in our life there's

always opportunity there is always

chance there is always a failure the

thing is how you survive from failures

when you're rejected how you survive

from that this is I learned even to

today people say Jack you are probably

one of the most influential people

anything you want to do we can do it no

a lot of support cannot do a lot of

things I feel and I worry much more than

I was 1995 or were much more when I 1999

when I build up my company because at

that time I only worry take care for 18

people today we have in our company

56,000 people and today in our company

when we start to do business I tell you

this is it the interesting story people

say how can I do ecommerce because

nobody 1999 year 2000 while full nobody

believed that they can buy and sell

things online

nobody crafted you don't have a money

you'd have a credit rating system you'd

have a payment you have a logistic the

internet the Internet of Speidel is so

slow but look at the Kenya when I

arrived yesterday the speed oh my god I

have never seen such a lecture speed but

better than America but I bet a lot of

people still complain the speed

right because those people love to

complete they complete all their lives

the Spiros that nothing the government

is not ready and uncle sometimes not

sometimes most of the times if the

government did not know what's going on

it's the opportunity if your people

around you does not agree with you

that's the opportunity if everybody

loved it if everyone want to do it

there's no opportunity for you because

the other people smarter you are so I

would have say nobody using trust

internet and I told eighteen founders I

say I believe Internet will be the

future I believe China will have

e-commerce because they say then there

is no payment we say let's build a

payment and they say there's no logistic

that's a beauty logisitics and there's

no government is support let's say it's

good they will support us someday when

we launch the chemo Taobao year 2003

very interesting I have a seven people I

say guys tomorrow we're going to launch

the table out but we don't have anything

to sell can you go back home and search

for something to look at listed on the

on the our site with the people to come

to buy it

everybody came back seven people we

gathered 21 products will list on the

website we've waited it for 72 hours

nobody come to buy it so we buy em

ourselves

testing the product and then I'll I got

several weeks later somebody comes to

sell because nobody want to buy it

people come to sell listed something we

buy all the things for the first two

weeks we bought on a two months we

bought all the garbage full of our

because we want to making sure something

that we can buy yourself from very -

last year we sold 550 billion US dollars

that is ranking 21 countries gdt wife in

the world we are little bit bigger than

argentina we created more than 33

million jobs for china by the way

minister we have delivered over 65

minute packages per day 65 million

packages per day all of China and world

this thing nobody believed it we do not

believe I thought internet would be big

but I never thought it would be that big

but say guys it was big compared to

yesterday but compared to tomorrow

future it is tiny

I believe 80% to 90% of the business in

the future will be online today we will

call people entrepreneurs few many years

later we call Netra premiers because

everybody has to be online called the

net entrepreneurs today you can only

sell in a ruby your good successful

person here but in the future if you

cannot sell your products all of Africa

if you cannot sell things crawl across

the countries you're not such business

people the world is changing very fast

and I not telling you guys I worry about

the new technology

this is the third technologies

revolution that a human being face the

first a technology revolution takes

about 50 years second 50 years this is

50 years we're going to have another 30

years which is very important the first

a technology revolution caused World War

one second technologies revolution

caused World War two and this is the

third technology revolution the sisters

the technology revolution reduce the

human energy so we know human and not as

strong as machine the second technology

revolution released the distance speed

of human beings so we know we can never

run faster they're playing and trains

this technology revolution release the

human brains so don't don't be scared

machine will be smarter than we are

and imagine past 20 years will make

people like a machine in the future will

make machine like a people and data

internet artificial intelligence machine

intelligence all the things coming up

the world is facing big challenges a lot

of jobs that you are we are we think

five years later will be great jobs oh

it's going to disappear and this is the

challenge to the world but this is also

the opportunity of the world I think

change is the best opportunity come

people complaining is the best

opportunity a company if you want to be

successful it's not how much you are we

got how much money you have because we

see so many companies have so much money

they are not necessary can survive it's

what problem you can solve for the world

one of the things I want to share with

you that my special energy my speciality

of Maca SOC of the company I always

think about the future I

but what the what the world will look

like what China will look like what my

neighbors would look like what's the

problem they were have in five or ten

years if this is a problem is going to

happen to China if this is a problem is

going to happen to my customers if this

is a problem to my neighbors if I can

fix that if I can start to prepare now

five years later out there successful

person think about the future do not

think about I if I do this they're going

to be very successful no if I do this I

can solve a lot of problems at that time

that is the value that will bring the

world is challenging a lot of people

complained where the opportunity

opportunity always exists in the place

where people complain when people claim

complain think about how can I solve it

if I can solve it I have the chance and

where's the opportunity when change

comes that's the opportunity if there is

no change big business

rich people powerful people always there

think about how internet can solve Kenya

poverty how internet can solve the

African problems without internet I

don't think any small business any young

people in Africa you have a few

opportunity to sell your things across

the other country only big companies

have so I think this is the greatest

opportunity we have and I think as I

said people hate globalization people

don't like global trade

I like globalization im a skrub

deliverer globalization but

unfortunately last 20 years

globalization was controlled by sixty

thousand big companies most of the young

people small business woman the

developing countries don't have this

chance but internet accounts this will

change this is what I believe are using

Internet to power empower everybody

so I would say that we are lucky people

we are lucky because we're entering into

a very very interest period and I would

say that Africa has the boat I'm not

coming here trying to inspire you

I'm coming here to tell the truth that

this morning I found Africa as much more

opportunity because you have a young

people you have that the whole world

today is worried I don't know why

everybody's worried the whole world

today is a puzzle but Africa I see

people have a passion and people have

ideas people say this is the future

because I think we are we have nothing

to lose

Europe has a lot to lose America has a

lot of world rules the old countries

worry about losing they have a lot of

puzzle but Africa I don't think you have

anything to lose and I heard a la a lot

of Africa there are so many

opportunities so many problems that is

the opportunity if you want to be big

company solve big problems if you want

to be a small companies solve smoking

problems complete all the people are

lucky enough I traveling around the

world I see so many successful people

politician businesspeople scientists

artists I find one quality that all the

successful for sure they never complete

they are always optimistic and a second

they always partner with good people so

this is something we are entering into a

very interesting time and Africa this is

you are the youngest continent in the

world the average age higher is only 19

years old how amazing that the future I

am calling on every country pay special

attention to next to 30 years every

technology the first 20 years is that

technology company in the past 20 years

Internet companies Google Facebook

Alibaba

right Amazon these companies control

these companies very successful next 30

years may not as necessary these

companies for sure it's not Internet

company will wing next to 30 years if

those companies those young people using

the Internet of wealth will win car was

not invented in America but American

people using car best electricity was

not invented in America but American

using electricity bet so Africa we have

a terrible people so we have a terrible

internet infrastructure but I think this

is the chance why ecommerce grow in

China grow buried America because we

don't have sophistic to cake it

ecommerce infrastructure Latin America

in America there are supermarkets and

walls and everything so good China no we

don't have such a great payment system

we don't have credit rating system

because we don't have that so we start

of high job China when I started the

e-commerce you would say even China

don't have a telephone why you believe

these are never happened yeah we don't

have a telephone there we have a mobile

phones nobody expect mobile from growth

so fast

Africa today I think more than 60% of

the people in Africa have a mobile phone

the mobile phone today is much more

powerful than than the PC unlucky I do

not study PC with the mobile where you

connect to the world right so this is

what I feel that Africa that the poor

infrastructure may giving you the

opportunity that you never you never

even imagined so the thing that also I

say I heard so much about a Kenyan

Africa is that you know the forest to

the elmo's what you are guys a living in

the paradise think about the China China

is the kitchen

the world very dirty now the air

pollutions so Africa developed you don't

have to follow the other countries model

Africa should be Africa using the new

technology prevent protect the

environment protecting the animals it's

easy to build buildings but it is

difficult to call the animal backs it's

impossible right tell me where in this

world you can see so many elephants and

lions and still walking around Africa

tell me wearing this war you can still

smell the real essence of the new air

that's one now I understand when I

arriving why so many people come to

Africa every year and go on or not

there's no business here but you have a

business to leverage that and think

about if you want viewed up a

manufacturer base think in a different

way it's impossible to copy China and

even if you copy China you have no

future because the world manufacturer is

shifting from B to C to C to B normal

way is business think about something

and sell to the consumers in the future

because of data technology every

manufacturer should be seed to be

consumer to business the manager has to

make their products smart tailor-made

not large skill China grow in the period

of large container massive assembly line

future assembly line is not how many

t-shirts you can make for what

assembling with one hour in the future

is how many different t-shirts you can

make how many plain tomato t-shirts you

can make so this is something the world

is changing Africans have to think about

the way that Africa is good at and I

would say I would do anything to change

if I can be young tell you one thing

year 2000 year in 1999 I'm lucky enough

to find one of the early founders of

Yahoo he was number 40 employees of

Yahoo he joined us become the CEO of the

company and I asked him what do you want

is again oh you guys are young I would

have spent 1 million dollars to buy one

year I say I sell all my age to you

today I realized that young age is

something that is the best opportunity

don't be scared of failure my asset is

so many failure stories there are a lot

of stories about us but a me but none of

the books I read about me someday I may

write a book the books name is Ali Baba

1001 mistakes this is the best assets

that when you have learn from the

mistakes learn from other mistakes not

because you want to avoid the mistakes

because when you face these mistakes you

know how to face it how to challenge it

and this is critical so I want to share

with all the young people here students

never give up there's always opportunity

there it's easy to give up

keep the hope the world is challenging

but this is opportunity for young people

the e-commerce Internet is the

opportunity for country like us

Kenya China Africa the best of people

say well ecommerce China's not the best

place in the world for e-commerce where

tell me I think Europe you have

everything but why Europe has no

internet have good internet companies or

e-commerce company they worry too much

they worry about privacy security laws

government predators government already

that when you worry too much

you're scared to move forward don't

worry if you make mistake chat again and

find the good people innovating is not

from the government it's Novation is

from your customer from the market and

finally I give if you want to be

intrapreneur give your device

always remember custom number one

employee number to share her number

three this is different from America

share for the number one I believe

custom number one if you make your

customer happy they will pay the money

if you make your employees happy they

will be creative innovative if your

customer in probably happy the

shareholder will be happy do not have

spend a lot of time on you're talking to

your shareholders spend them all time to

talking your customers spend them all

time talking to your employees and

making sure it's the employee share the

vision making sure they're great and

also making sure when you hire your

employees find the good people find the

people who's smart then you are find the

people who can be a boss you think this

guy would be my bought in five years hi

him

this is the secret and also that lots of

secret is making sure high enough women

on the internet type this is this is the

one of the secret source of success for

Alibaba we have 47 percent of the women

47 to 48 percent of the colleagues in

our company of women

well 33 percent of the senior management

of our company of women not because we

want to keep women we find women can do

much better job on the Internet time on

the e-commerce when I set a business I

say ecommerce is not a bad computer to

talk to talk to computer ecommerce about

a people talk to people but computer is

just a proxy is the front page women

take care of the others better than men

women understand women have much high EQ

their men

we have IQ have to care about the other

see where your online the engineers as a

lot of engineers they have a high IQ

they make good program but they never

care where the program is user-friendly

or not but women make them very

user-friendly and women really care

about the customers behind this make our

cut because people like I may have no

background of technology the only thing

I want to do is make my customer happy

how can I make custom happy we got a lot

of people and we have a women engineers

women CFO women CEO women president so

keep on that remember

this is so evil this is why we have seen

so many women presidents women Prime

Minister women CEOs in the future I

think we're going to have a women

Secretary General of your donations

we need that I know a woman Chester so

that is something I want to share with

you I'm not a politician on the business

people as a business people we're

resulted driven where efficiency driven

we're fed driven we're result given

because you have to get result otherwise

you only talk no result you die and for

a device I give it to Kenya Africa is

speed up you know what I'm saying for

one day I get some feeling we have a

vision but you have to get things down

and with speed and the second is a

efficiency driven and the third third

business people can never force people

to do business with me it's but a fair

trade so I would say let's move up

Africa will be the next driving source

or driving energy of the world after

today's Asia and this is what I truly

believe and I come here I don't want to

sell anything to you guys I want to help

you to sell your great step to the world

using it's an app thank you

you

What Happened When the Meatball Shop Expanded Too Fast - Duration: 3:54.

Basically I'm saying I screwed a bunch of shit up

and now I need everybody to believe that I figured out the right way

and the right way is to reinvest the money in

fixing problems instead of growing the business.

So we opened the first restaurant in 2010

and it was immediately successful, I mean we had

a line out the door,

investors were coming in and

enticing us to open more shops,

and giving us money, and we opened a second restaurant

one year later and actually a third restaurant that same year.

There was something that wasn't quite perfect

about the second and the third store, but

they were happening in before they even open we had a fourth and fifth lease

that we had signed and we're getting ready to open those up.

Around the time that we open our fourth store

we really recognize that the second and the third store

and then even the first store were starting to, you know,

they were failing to kind of like maintain their success,

but we were pushing through and saying

what we'll figure it out or it will solve itself.

It never solves itself.

Having multiple locations of the same restaurant

is a completely different game, has a completely different strategy,

and so we opened the first three restaurants,

four restaurants, five restaurants,

as if it were one restaurant, we were running from restaurant to restaurant

hiring everybody, doing everything ourselves, but

at five restaurants you can't get to every single restaurant

in time to catch the mistake, and fix the problem, and train the person.

You know it was just slowly, but surely moving faster than we can keep up with,

and so the entire business started to unravel.

What that meant was we needed to stop expanding and concentrate on

building a system to run hopefully five

through however many restaurants we would eventually want to open.

And stopping was hard because we built

everybody up to believe in this idea that we're going to expand, and we're

going to get rich, and our employees are going to grow.

And you're really admitting that you're not ready to grow

which is admitting a fault which from an ego perspective is really tough to kind

of like confront, especially when you have pressure, huge financial pressure to

grow because your investors have giving you money, they've invested in growth and

the idea that the business will be worth more,

but there's a responsibility that we have to the people that work in our

business to not throw it all away, right?

I mean, yeah the investors would get

richer if we open faster but I'd rather

not lose all their money and our

employees would have more opportunity if

we grew faster, but I rather that they at least have a job and food on their table.

It's been 2 full years from the

time that we identified we need to slow down,

and build a new system to run the restaurants,

and we're finally in a place where we have really built

the infrastructure to systems and the processes

and we're watching the success of that turnaround happen in front of us,

and the numbers, and customer satisfaction,

and the employees happiness,

and, you know, I'm actually sleeping through the night

and feeling some more positive.

With that having been accomplished we're ready to grow and we

can feel the confidence to open another restaurant and build something special.
