Youtube daily google Oct 2 2018

Hi everyone!

I'm Tricia Clements with www.MuttButs.com.

Today I want to talk to you about your Google My Business account.

What it has to do with your business's online identity and how it impacts your local SEO.

Google My Business – what you need to do is go to business.google.com and login there

to your account.

The main thing you need to first make sure is that you've claimed your business's

Google My Business account and it you haven't claimed it go ahead and claim it.

If you go in to claim it and it says that someone else already has access to it and

won't let you claim it – you need to go ahead and make sure that you gain access to

that account for your business.

It's really important and that's something that if you don't have access to it, you

need to get in touch with google to get access to it.

If you need help with that let me know because I have helped numerous clients gain access

to their Google My Business account.

Again, your Google My Business account is crucial for your online identity.

When people are out searching for places on their cell phones, where do they go?

Google.

You want to make sure that you come up in that search and you also want to post weekly.

So that if you have any specials going on, if you have any upcoming events that you're

going to be going to that your clients – potential clients can see that and know that you've

got this special going on, maybe they will stop-by or give you a call to make sure that

they take advantage of that.

Whereas, you may not have had that business otherwise.

So make sure that you are posting weekly on your Google My Business account because those

post on Google My Business they go dark after a week.

So make sure you're posting weekly.

And again, there's a place to put events on.

So, if you have events that you're going to make sure that you post those on there

because again they come up on Google Maps and Google Search.

So if you have someone managing your account, posting for you, you also need to make sure

that are an owner of that Google My Business account.

So, when you login to your Google My Business account there's a place that says USERS.

You're going to go in there and make sure you're an owner because if you're simple

a manager of the account that means that you can't add and remove users.

You need to own the account.

So, if you've got someone who's managing it, putting post on – that's fine but

make sure that they add you as an owner on the account.

That is really important for your business.

So when you get in to your Google My Business account make sure you add everything in there,

your descriptions, your NAP, your name, address, phone number.

Make sure all the information that google has is correct because when someone find you

on a search you don't want them to have wrong information because they're going

to be probably a little bit upset about it, maybe if they – you said that you're open

and they go to your store and your closed because the hours are wrong.

You need to make sure all the information if correct.

And again I said post weekly – Post specials and for you Google My Business post it'll

allows up to Fifteen hundred characters, however, most searches are done on a cell phone and

the first one hundred words… uhmm I'm sorry.

First one hundred characters are the most important.

Make sure the main crux of what you want them to know is on that first one hundred characters

on your Google My Business post – that's really important.

You also want to make sure that you put a Link in – you can have a clickable link.

There's an option for that when you do the post, you can set a call now, schedule an

appointment, make a reservation.

Make sure that you add that url in there for them to click directly so they don't have

to do any copying and pasting.

People want it – they want fast.

Make sure you have that clickable link in there.

Now this is a Google's free advertising – make you're taking advantage of it.

You can go in and see.

After you've done your post you can start looking at them, see how you're coming up,

how many times you come up on the searches, the map views and also going to the insights

– see which post seem to be doing better so that you can do more of those post and

make sure you put pictures on your Google My Business account you want to make sure

you have good, clear pictures on your account that's going to help when you're doing

your Google My Business post.

Alright, so there's a couple things you want to know about your Google My Business

– It's great for local SEO, people will find you.

You need to make sure you've claimed your account.

You need to post on it and post weekly – and then post weekly.

That's the big thing and make sure your information is correct.

If anything changes – update it.

If you have a different hours during different holidays make sure you put those on your Google

My Business account.

It's really important to make sure all that information is correct.

If you have any questions about your Google My Business account to protect your Business's

online identity – let me know in the comments below, I'd be happy to help.

I'm Tricia Clements with MuttButs.com and I will see you again soon!

Bye!

Google Home Features Update 6: October 2018 - Duration: 10:27.

What's happening YouTube, Josh Teder here for six months later and as always

october is looking to be a very busy month in the world of google home and

google assistant now last year and during the October event that Google

held in the earlier part of the month we saw the launch of the Google home acts

and Google home many and this October there's a Google event on October 9th

and we're expecting new Google home hardware to come out of this event as

well but before we get to the rumors on the new hardware we've got some new

great Google Assistant features to go over so let's get started this is six

months later

now before we get into the features updates a word of warning not all of the

updates I'm about to talk about may have rolled out to your Google assistant

depending on where in the world you live I'm currently living here in the United

States and I use the US English version of the Google assistant but if you're in

another part of the world that's not the United States some of these features may

not have rolled out to your assistant if you're using assistant in a different

language or if you just live in a different country so with that let's go

ahead and dive into the first features update which is actually update to a

feature I talked about on our last features update video which is scheduled

routines now with scheduled routines you can have

a routine run during a certain time of day and you don't always have to use

your voice to schedule the routine this feature is great for your bedtime

routine you can now schedule that routine to take place during a certain

time at night or you can create an entirely new scheduled routine say for

Halloween you can have all of your Halloween decorations turn on and a

specific time during the evening to schedule a routine go ahead and open

your Google home app go to more settings

routines now unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can edit pre-existing

routines you already may have and add a schedule to them this only seems to work

for creating new routines you can give your commands and then add in a time or

day for the routine to run the rest of setting up the routine is just how it

worked in our last features update video so if you haven't checked that out

definitely go ahead and check out the features update 5 video for more

information on how to set up a routine now for an update on home control the

google home devices now understand the context of interacting with your smart

devices even more if you tell Google to turn off the lights it will

now understand that you want the lights of the room that you are in to turn off

and not just all the lights in your entire residence in my experience when

you ask the Google assistant to turn off the lights previously it would often

turn off the lights in your entire residence now this isn't an issue if you

live alone but if you live with other people it can be kind of annoying when

the lights in your room suddenly turn off because your roommate over in his

room decided to turn off the lights using Google thankfully this update now

fixes that annoyance now if you still want to turn off all of your lights just

tell Google to turn off all lights next up another update from our last features

update video the bilingual functionality for the Google assistant has now

launched so bilingual families across the globe can now rejoice you can now

ask your Google assistant through your Google home devices a query in one

language and then ask it another query in a different language as long as both

of those languages are supported by the Google assistant Google will be able to

understand your query now you can effortlessly switch between

languages in between your query as long as you still use the same trigger word

Google next up the Google assistant can now read out a more detailed news report

thanks to its ability to leverage the newly revamped Google News Service if

you haven't checked out Google News yet I highly recommend it it lets you focus

on the news topics that you're interested in from all of your favorite

sources and subscriptions in a beautifully simple design for the

expansion of the news feature with the Google assistant you can now ask Google

to learn more about a specific news topic for example you can ask it what's

the news on President Trump a lively topic no doubt here's the latest from

Fox News Trump's tax returns will be target of Democrats probe if they win

house in midterms the mystery of President Trump's tax returns could

finally come to an end if Democrats win control of at least one chamber of

Congress following the midterm elections in November

Democratic lawmakers in the House are planning to use an obscure

almost 100 year-old tax statute that permits the chairman of Congress's tax

committees to look at anyone's returns to get to the bottom of Trump's finances

and possibly make public the information that the president has kept guarded

since the 2016 election there were two other articles which I've sent to your

phone do you want me to read the first one

yes sure CNN has this update or you can ask it's something completely different

like what's the latest news on black holes this is the latest from forbes

active supermassive black holes may have cost life see merchants bruce normani

contributor i opinions expressed by forbes contributors are their own active

galactic nuclei a GN s powered by supermassive black holes at the Centers

of most young galaxies may have put the quash on life's evolution says one new

study that's all I have for now you can find a link to the full text on

your phone notice that Google will not only give you an update about a specific

topic but it will give you the latest news stories it will offer to send you

the stories to your phone as well as ask if you want to read the stories out loud

which is a pretty impressive feature if you've been bogged down by the day's

news as is often the case here in the United States well Google has a feature

for that as well just ask Google to tell me something good and it'll give you a

positive news story to make you feel better about the world at least for a

minute from Philly com Philadelphia Media Network what started as a small

exchange program between Temple University in a local corrections

facility has become an international model the inside out exchange program

engages University students and gives inmates educational opportunities 30,000

students have participated in the program half of them prisoners is it

okay if I send it to your phone yes okay go ahead and check and I'll talk to you

there the stories are selected it's summarized by the nonpartisan nonprofit

solutions journalism Network according to TechCrunch who describes

the group as an organization that helps train journalists to better cover how

people are responding to problems and how those actions can have positive

results the system will even go a step further

for you if you have a Google assistant smart display it will play relevant

YouTube videos to the news topic you asked about on the smart display now

speaking of smart displays you may be wondering why I haven't personally

bought one or done a review of one on the channel and that's simply because I

decided to hold off on buying a smart display like the Lenovo version because

I had a feeling that Google was going to do their own made by Google smart

display and it looks like that Google will be announcing a smart display made

and designed by Google at their October 9th event coming up and it's rumored to

be called the Google Home Hub the Google hub is rumored to be Google's own rival

to the Amazon Echo's show and will be one more device that aligns to Google's

smart display strategy for its Google assistant accept this smart display is

designed and made by Google now it's rumored to have a 7 inch display but

it's unclear whether or not there will be a larger variant of the new Google

smart display like we have with Lenovo smart display which also comes in a

10-inch variant well after wait-and-see as well on price

and some of the other specs when Google's rumored to announce this device

at their October 9th event now be sure to stay tuned to the channel right after

that event I'll be doing a reaction video a couple of days with my thoughts

on everything that Google announced as well as you can be sure if they do

announce any new Google home hardware I'll have that on the channel as soon as

I can get my hands on it for a first look video and of course later on down

the road a six months later review well that's it for our google home features

update video thank you so much for watching if you like this video please

be sure to give us a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel to see more

Google and Google home videos like this one

also you can read a version of this video as well as thought pieces reviews

on our new website 6 - months - later calm so make sure to check that out and

lastly let me know what you thought of the video if you're excited for what

Google is rumored to unveil at their October 9th event and let me know also

if you think I've missed any features that they have recently put out for the

Google home devices well until next time thanks again so much for watching I'm

Top 10 Scary Things You Should NEVER Google - Part 2 - Duration: 11:47.

10 - Harlequin Ichthyosis

In general I would recommend never googling any kind of skin condition if you value a

peaceful state of mind… it is stressful, off putting and scary at the very same time

and can often be pretty sad for those involved.

I have eczema so in some ways I can sympathize, but this is sadly a whole new level.

Harlequin Ichthyosis is a severe skin disorder that presents itself at birth.

Sadly the condition is so severe that it deforms the child, with their skin forming in large

diamond like plates, hence the name given to the disorder.

It really isn't very nice to look at, so I really wouldn't google it.

If the deformity wasn't awful enough, it comes with a very high mortality rate.

It seems one in ever 300,000 babies is born with this horrifying skin disease.

Moving on now to number 9 we have Mouth Maggots.

This one is as bad as it sounds.

Scientifically speaking, this is known as oral myiasis - its a condition where insect

eggs become implanted in a persons mouth.

The eggs then hatch ahd the parasitic larvae feast on the surrounding skin until they are

mature enough to fly away.

What youre seeing here comes from a dentists clinic.

The patient was unconscious at the time as a tube delivers anaesthetic gas through her

nose.

Her lips need to be stretched out from her teeth to get a view of the flesh eating creatures.

As gross as it is, its important to remove the Maggots as soon as they are discovered

as there is a chane of a fatal infestation making its way through the nose or ears to

the brain.

Next up at number 8 we have The Huntsman Spider.

This one is for all your arachnophobes out there.

Once you see this, youll think Tarantulas are just cuddly and nice - you might even

get a pet one.

These giants grow up to a foot in size.

They are common in Australia but can be found all over the world.

Heres some pictures from 2017 when an Australian woman found one at her house in Queensland.

Adult huntsman spiders don't build webs like many other spiders, instead foraging for food

and using venom to stun their prey.

They arent scared of humans either and have been known to give a vicious bite to people

who come to close, resulting in swelling and pain, nausea, headaches, vomiting, irregular

pulse rate and heart palpitations.

The Australian woman said that the spider prevented them from going outside to use their

barbecue.

They nicknamed it Aragog after giant spider in Harry Potter - when it ran into the woods

they said it was in the Forbidden forest - nice little joke for any Potter fans.

I'll see your huntsman spider and raise you a blooming Spider Cluster at number 7

Don't like a spider?

Don't blame you mate.

You wont like a cluster of them either.

Oh, you didn't know spiders form large ball like clusters?

Sorry bout it…they do.

Why?

WELL – young spiders have a deceptively cute name - spiderlings - spiderlings often

form tight clusters after hatching…because safety in numbers …andddd also they feed

on their own hatched egg yolks…nature.

Spiderlings stay this way until they get mature enough…so…big enough… to break free.

And I don't want to be there when they do.

You don't need to be an arachnophobia to find a cluster of freaking spiders horrifying….

There are some images on google you don't want to see, but worse still you don't want

google to lead you to a video of one…and there are several.

This is giving me chills.

Next up at number 6 we have The Original Night Stalker.

This is the story of Joseph James DeAngelo.

In 2018, he was charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder.

Police say he is the Gold State Killer - a serial killer, rapist and burglar who committed

at least 13 murders and more than 50 rapes during burglaries in California from 1974

to 1986.

He would terrorize the victims in their homes, breaking in as they slip.

If his victim was part of a couple, he would sometimes tie up the man and pile dishes on

his back as part of a sadistic game in which he would rape the woman and threaten to kill

them both of the dishes tumbled to the floor.

The list of his crimes are too heinous to even go into here ... He was only charged

with the crimes after Police say a 2016 breakthrough led to a needle in the haystack lead …

5 - Trypophobia Tropophobia is the fear of small holes in

tight knit patters.

You might be chill with tiny holes, and honestly that is great for you… but for me, I am

not happy about it.

I didn't even know I had this fear until I started working at Most Amazing Top 10,

but it seems it has always been lurking there at the back of my mind…

So naturally occurring tiny holes are one thing… and kind of gross for some psychological

reason, but when they're photoshopped by some nasty fear mongering people out there,

they are even grosser.

There are some pictures you don't want to see - including some…eye…holes…holes

in eyes.

No.

Hard no.

Moving on to number 4 we have Krokodil.

This is a drug thats been described as -The Designer Drug That Will Eat Your Flesh- … what

a lovely introduction.

Although its been around since its creation in 1932 as an alternative to morphine, its

only become more widely known in recent years.

The drug is its 10 to 15 times more potent than morphine and 3 times more toxic.

Its said to be the worst drug in the world, worse than cocaine, heroin, meth and acid.

Doctors estimate that from the point an addict first takes it, their life expectancy is a

little over 2 years now.

So, why is it so bad?

Well, to put it simply - it rots a human from the inside out.

In serious users its not uncommon to see large expanses of exposed muscle and bone.

The high doesnt last long and the withdrawal is severe and intense - this leaves users

stuck in a full time, 24 hour a day cycle of cooking Krokodil up and then injecting

it, only to repeat it again right away.

3 Beslan School Siege Aftermath This has deeply, deeply troubled me.

This is where scary google gets real, and I just want no part of it.

The Beslan school siege took place for three days from September 1st 2004 and is the worst

incident of terrorism in a school ever recorded.

Chechnyan rebels and islamist militants stormed a school in Russia, taking 1,100 people hostage

– including 777 children.

What took place over the course of four days are some of the darkest things to happen in

modern history.

Hostages needed to drink their own urine to stay alive.

After a battle between the terrorists and the hostages, the siege ended with 334 people

dead, the majority of which were children.

Knowing about the Siege is historically important and I always encourage research into events

and their political background, but the pictures are something you never want to see.

The aftermath of the siege was a warzone, and very, very dark.

Next up at number 2 we have Botfly Removal.

If you found the mouth larvae I talked about earlier pretty gross, youre not gonna like

this.

A Botfly is a parasite.

It deposits eggs on a host such as a human.

The larvae from these eggs are stimulated by the warmth of the body and burrow underneath

the skin.

At this point, most people usually realise something is up - they can feel it itching

underneath their skin.

It then develops into extreme pain because of its spines which slice through the flesh.

Thats where doctors have to step in to remove the Botfly from the persons flesh.

Sometimes though, people cant wait for a doctor and try to remove it themself.

This usually involves pouring iodine in the hole - the botfly will react instantly by

poking out of the hole - thats when you grab it with some tweezers and try to forget this

traumatic event.

1 - Alcacuz Prison Cannibals You may have heard of the Alcacuz prison riots

in Brazil.

In January 2017 a massive riot broke out between rival gangs in Alcacuz prison.

It took authorities two weeks to regain control over the high security prison, after which

at least 30 inmates died.

That is basically all you need to know about it… but the finer gory details are so much

worse.

Basically, one gang obliterated the other and made a bonfire of human heads.

It wasn't enough to kill their rivals, they had to destroy them.

It seems the inmates turned to cannibalism and barbequed their rivals, eating them as

they laughed.

The murdering inmates made videos of their massacres, which really need to never be seen.

It took forensics weeks to identify the remains of the victims.

Google Pixel 3 leaks have now detailed almost everything about the new devices - Daily News - Duration: 2:53.

Google will announce a pair of new phones next week, but more leaks have described them in every last detail ahead of their launch

With such interest in new devices from Apple , Google and Samsung leaks are pretty common in the run-up to their announcement

But a series of new videos have blown the lid on Google's latest devices.  The most recent leaks include what appears to be a marketing video for the Pixel 3 XL showing off new camera features

There will be some new augmented reality features and a neat trick that will allow you to grab email addresses from business cards and send mail to them

Not perhaps brand new as an idea, but still nifty.  In addition to that, a Russian YouTuber called Rozetked has done a comprehensive first look at the device

It's the same physical size as the Pixel 2 XL, but the screen is larger thanks to an iPhone-XS-style edge-to-edge panel

There's new vibration features too, which aim to offer the same sort of haptic feedback you get on the iPhone and Apple Watch

Rozetked says he thinks it may even be more advanced than Apple's version.  Some rumours have suggested that there will be a third phone launched too, a Pixel Ultra

There's not a lot (if any) evidence to back this up though. And while some online enthusiasts have made renders they seem to be more fantasy than reality

Mostly they are pushing for a notch-free, edge-to-edge screen that addresses the concerns that the Pixel 3 XL is a bit of an ugly duckling, thanks to that massive screen notch

Pricing is, perhaps, the only thing we don't know. However Rozetked suggests that they could be expensive - perhaps as much as $1000

We have a full round-up of the leaks so far that we'll keep update (just in case there's anything still left to leak out)

You Might Be a Liberal If... You Believe Google Has No Political Bias - Duration: 1:17.

You know face it most people here are pretty upset and pretty sad for

because of the election conflicts with many of our values

Our values are strong

We will fight to protect them and we will use the great strengths and resources and reach we have to continue to advance

really important values

There's actually a lot of historical precedent for boredom being a huge factor in vote

Choice and actually in building extremism. In fact, we've had a lot of work on jigsaw on extremism

That's that shows high correlation to simple boredom

Google Slides for Trimming YouTube - Duration: 2:13.

Hi. This is John. I'm going to take a look at how you can use Google Slides as a way

to edit videos in YouTube a little bit. One of the options in Google Slides is

to insert a video. So I'm going to into Insert ->Video and I'm going to select

a video that I want to add to that slide. So, I've got. You can just paste it here.

You can do a search if you want to. I've already pasted in the address for some

highlights from the Brewer's game over the weekend. I'm going to select that video. It's

going to drop it into the Google Slides. I can adjust the size on it any way I

want to. But the cool part about adding a video into Slides is that I can actually

go into Format -> Format Options for that video and what it's going to allow me to do is

adjust when I start the video and when I end it. If you only want to show a

small clip of it and you don't want to show the whole thing, that's often

difficult to do in YouTube and sometimes you don't want the whole thing and

you don't want to have to pre-load everything, especially if you have

multiple classes. So this is kind of a good way to just get the clip you want

and basically save the start and end point to it. When I'm done, I just click

out of it. And then when I go to Present it, the

video is going to show because I adjusted it to that size, it's gone

basically full-screen for me. And when I click to play, it's going to start at

2:25, which is the at-bat for his second home run, and it would play until 3:29 which

would be the end of the call. So I click on Play. (Announcer: Led 5-3 at one point and there's Yelich deep to right and this one is GONE!!! (Fans cheering) Christian Yelich has done it again. Background noise from video)

(Announcer: and there's Yelich deep to right and this one is GONE!!! (Fans cheering) Christian Yelich has done it again. Background noise from video)

If you notice on the bottom, you can see that (Fireworks from highlights) there, ah, it wasn't going to play the entire

video, so it would jump it ahead a little bit, and go right to the

end point which I set to be at 3:29. (Fans still cheering) I'll stop the video here and exit it but

using Google Slides is a way to trim a video is kind of a neat little

trick so. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

Google Goodness: Organizing and Searching your Google Drive - Duration: 27:03.

SPEAKER: All right.

The session is now being recorded.

So today we are going to be talking

about how to get the most out of your Google Drive as far

as organization and searching.

Yeah.

And specifically I wanted to start out

with thinking through how to organize your Google

Drive in such a way that you don't have to constantly go

back to an email you got from Google one time.

So I'm going to talk about some different ways

to get into Google and then some of the benefits

and pitfalls of various ways and then

how to organize once you're actually in Google.

And then I'm going to go on and talk a little bit

about your share with me and some of the search features

that are available with Google Drive.

The search features, if you've used them in the past,

especially a while ago, they have been updated since then.

So there are new opportunities to actually

be able to find your stuff.

So I'm going to start by talking about how

to get to Google, so I think a lot of people

go into their email.

For one reason or another, they're

not sure how to get there.

They don't know exactly where to go,

or they get a direct email saying someone shared something

with you and so it's easier to go back in your email

to get to that document.

There's definitely an easier way to do that.

So I'm going to start screen sharing.

And here is my welcome screen, but I have not yet

enabled multiple screen sharing, so I

have to remember to do that because that

is an option within Zoom.

So if you opt to go into your Google Drive via an email,

it will take you directly to the document

if you have permissions on it.

A much easier way and what I see a lot of

and I would recommend people going to google.com, signing in

if they're not already signed in.

In this case, you'll either see a letter or a picture.

I have a picture, so I see my picture.

And that will alert you to whether or not

you're signed in.

A quick note for people that have multiple accounts, it's

not a bad idea to do two different pictures,

so you know if you're signed in your personal account

or if you're signed into your work

account just because I hear that a lot or people try

to go into something, and it says they don't have access

to that document, it's probably because you're

signed into the wrong account.

So just a thought.

The best way to get into Google--

or one of the ways, I shouldn't say the best way--

is to click on these dots after you've signed in,

and you'll have access to all the various elements

that Google has.

You'll also have access to more.

You've all kinds of stuff.

A lot of times there's a vocabulary disagreement

when it comes to Google.

And so someone will say, hey, just go into Google Docs.

9 times out of 10 what they actually mean

is go into Google Drive, and I want

to talk about this because if you say,

hey, there's Google Docs and you go into Google Docs,

you will have access to things--

you can see my screen correct?

There it is.

OK.

You will have access to things, but they

will be in a fairly disorganized kind of view.

You can definitely search.

You can look at templates.

You can do some stuff from the screen.

But the screen is not actually optimal for how

our organization is using Google Documents, Google Sheets, all

the wonderful things that Google has to offer.

And so whenever someone says, oh,

just go into your Google Drive or just go into Docs

or just get into your Google Storage, what they mean most

of the time is Google Drive.

And so it's the same location, and you'll notice even

on the screen, it's still there, I go into Google Apps

and go into Google Drive.

Yes.

So Tony mentioned in the chat also

if you'll notice, when you're in Google Docs, it only shows doc.

So you're not going to be able to see

any spreadsheets, any presentations, any Google Forms

you might have put together.

So it's really not an optimal way to view your stuff.

By comparison, if you go into Google Drive,

as I am right now, you'll be able to see

all of those things.

So I can see all of the things that I have personally

organized in my Google Drive, and I very purposefully

didn't organize it and make it all pretty for today.

So this is about how it works.

It's like any other file storage.

There's some files laying around that I go in and organize

on a semi-regular basis.

So how do you organize this, and where do you

find your stuff to organize?

So if you have created documents,

they're probably just going to show up

right here in your My Drive.

If you would like to organize them,

the very first thing we want to talk about is creating folders.

So when you think about creating folder structure,

it's just like creating folder structure on your shared county

drives, which you probably have or wherever you happen to work.

You get to create folders.

You can put folders within folders within folders.

You can get as complex and convoluted as a file storage

system as you would like.

In my position, it made sense for me

because I've had multiple positions to organize them

in the manner that I've organized them in.

If I'd like to create a new folder, it's very simple.

I hit New, I hit Folder--

Greg says, hm-- and then I would click Create.

So this would create the test folder.

Just a thought for anyone who either likes things

to look pretty or really has a color-coordinated file system,

if you right click on the folder,

you can then change the color, and there are multiple options.

So yeah, you can do that if you would like to.

It's obviously not required, otherwise,

they will just be gray.

Also quick note, if you share them with other people,

the other person will see a gray folder not, the same color.

So now that I have my folder, let's

say I want to place a document in it.

There's lots of different ways to do that.

I'm going to actually pop all these Food Wise

documents into my test folder.

You can very easily drag and drop.

No problem.

You could also, if you prefer this method,

you can hit these arrows that will drop down

all of your various folders, and then you

can drag and drop accordingly.

Test folder.

It's not my preferred method because you'll

see I have lots and lots of recordings of files.

You can also right click and Move to.

So there's lots of different ways

that you can actually move your files around.

My preferred method is honestly dragging and dropping,

but that's just me.

You do whatever suits you.

And you'll notice they drag and drop pretty easily,

and then when we go into test folder

and wait for the internet, there are my documents.

So then I can modify these documents.

I can do things.

I'm not going to get a whole lot into sharing permissions today.

There's a whole lot you can do as far

as sharing at different levels with different folders.

So I will say if you put a document in a folder that

is shared, by and large, the contents are then shared,

depending on how you've set it up.

Again, that will be a whole another topic

for a whole other day because there's

a whole lot that goes into file sharing in Google Drive.

So I'm actually going to go back out to my drive.

Here we are again.

So that's how you create a folder

and how you move document into a folder.

In the same manner, you can move a document out.

So if I wanted these out, I could do something as simple

as drag and drop it back to my drive.

Same deal, I can right click, I can drag it over here.

The same types of things apply.

But you can move files in and out fairly easily.

So once you have some file folders set up

and you've set some structure to your madness,

then you might want to go and find something

that has been shared with you.

And you'll find that right here, Shared With Me.

A fun fact.

It was called Shared With Me, then for a while

it was called Incoming, and then based on feedback that they

received at Google, they actually changed it back

to Shared With Me because people preferred that verbiage.

So here you will see an archive of absolutely everything that

has ever been shared with me.

It will go on for several pages, all the way back to 2013

when we got these accounts.

I don't mess with my Shared With Me.

I'm getting a note to go--

oh, thanks, Peggy.

Actually, I'm going to answer this before we go on.

So Peggy says, how can I change my view?

I don't have folders in those rows along the top.

Mine just appear like a long list.

That's a really good question.

So up here, we have List View, and we have Grid View.

So I was in Grid View.

This is List View.

It is up to you what view you would prefer.

Some people really like this better.

I'm trying to think this is a bad thing to say.

I'm more of a good girl.

I like my folders out in the open where I can see them

a little bit better.

Again, Google customizable, whatever works well for you

is the way to do it.

So thank you for that question.

And thank you for using the Q&A. That was well done.

So I'm going to go back to my Shared With Me.

So as I said, this is everything has ever

been shared with me since the beginning of my Google account.

You don't organize in your Shared With Me.

This will only lead to hardship and pain.

And I tell people even not necessarily

to delete it because you might go back and read it,

and we don't really have to worry about conserving

data or anything.

You might have noticed I have 7.4 gigs in my drive,

so we have, at least to my knowledge,

and Tony, please correct me if I'm wrong,

but we have unlimited storage for our work Google accounts,

for our educational Google accounts.

So everything is in here.

How do I get it?

How do I get it to a place where I can go in and quickly

snag it as opposed to saying, I think

so-and-so shared that with me back in September of 2016.

There's a couple of ways you can make

these documents accessible.

We're going to search in a little bit,

but you can always use the search

if you need to find a specific document that was shared

with you forever as well.

So I'm going to be at the Food Wise coordinator

meeting a little bit tomorrow.

And if I want easy access to this folder, I can--

the same thing, very easily add it to my Google Drive.

So if it's something you want to keep and have readily available

and/or have it organized in a fashion that you can get to it,

you want to essentially keep this document

or keep this document relatively handy, you take it

and you move it into your Google Drive.

So for example, I'm going to just take this and drag it over

to my Google Drive, and then it will be there.

There's other ways.

Again, you can right click and say Add to my drive,

or you can highlight it, and this little button up here

will appear, and that's your Add to My Drive.

All three options, again, totally fine.

So I'm going to click Add to My Drive.

So you'll notice-- and this can be very confusing.

So it's still there.

So it says Added it to My Drive, but it's still

in my Shared With Me.

That's because my Shared With Me is

going to be in archive of all of those things.

It's in two places.

Don't worry about it, and don't think about it too much.

Just focus on utilizing and organizing your My Drive, not

your Share With Me.

So you'll see right here 2018 Coordinator Meeting.

So I took it, essentially copied it over, put it in my drive,

and it will actually stay in both places,

but it's in My Drive, which is where I

want it to be for easy access.

Eric is giving me a look like I said something

that didn't make sense.

OK.

We're good.

So now I have access to this folder.

Well, I don't.

I'm not going to open it because I'm not

sure exactly what's in it.

But I have access to that folder.

I can easily grab agendas or whatever else might

be in it without any worries.

Also I can upload the pieces I'm doing tomorrow,

which I have to do yet.

So that's how you add something to your My Drive.

So again, if you want to keep it, you want to keep it handy,

add it to your My Drive.

Don't try to organize your Shared With Me.

You're Shared With Me is just a giant archive of everything.

And I just wanted to note now that it's had time to update,

I still go back to Shared With Me,

and that folder is still there.

Don't panic.

It's in your My Drive.

Keep it there.

Work from your My Drive.

And then I want to talk a little bit about Google's search

feature because it's gotten pretty awesome.

So very simply up here, it's an opportunity

to search only your drive.

So you're not searching the entirety of Google.

You're not doing any of that.

You're only searching in everything

your Google Drive contains.

So it will-- and we'll talk about this--

but depending on how you set your parameters,

it will search everything and anything,

or you can stipulate where you want it to search.

So very basically, if you search for something,

you can search for just about anything.

I will actually do--

let's see here.

So I typed in coordinator.

I'm going to get a ton of stuff.

So you'll note this symbol.

These are Google documents, this is a Word document,

this is PDF, and then these are any folders

that would have had something with the word coordinator

in them.

And right there, I can see the agenda,

but I can also see all of the participant materials

which is that folder that I just moved around.

So if you know a word, you can do a very quick search.

If however, your quick search isn't working out for you,

you can add some cool search tools to your arsenal.

So let's say I know for sure it's a PDF,

I could search specifically for a PDF

with a certain word or thing in the title.

More often than not, what I actually end up doing

is not searching this way, but going to more search tools.

And by going to more search tools,

you're opening up a slightly more advanced search

opportunity so you can specify by type.

So what type of object are you looking for?

Are you looking for an audio file or a folder,

or are you pretty sure it's a text document?

You can look by owner.

So if you know so-and-so is the owner of a document

or they started it, you can do that.

Also, if you're looking for a document

that you know that you created, you can say owned by me

or you can go specific person.

That's really helpful when you know there's document,

you know a couple words in the title,

but it's so broad or general that it's going to turn up

like hundreds of documents.

If you can narrow it down by owner, it can be helpful.

You can also look in location, which is more often

than not how I end up looking as well.

So location.

So it could be anywhere.

It could be anywhere in drive, including your trash.

If you click the button, in a folder,

you stashed it in somewhere, in your Shared With Me,

in a Team Drive.

It can you just about anywhere.

It can actually be anywhere.

So you can have it look in your My Drive, in your Team Drives,

in your Shared With Me, or you can narrow it by visible

to anyone in our co-op.

Let's say you want to go and drive

and you know that it was in a specific folder

within your drive.

You can click here, and you can specify all the way

down to the specific folder if for some reason

you had a giant folder.

So you can really narrow down your search options.

You can also search in trash, and you

can search files or things that you have

opted to [? star ?] previously.

Say I'm going down.

So date modified, when was the last time someone looked at it.

Did you know you can't find it anywhere,

and you know you looked at it in the last month,

it really helps to narrow it by 30 days.

Item name, if you actually know the title, that's fantastic.

Or has the words, which is a really powerful search

that I'm going to demonstrate in just a second.

So this has any certain or specific words

in the document itself.

So it's not just searching the title,

it's searching the entirety of the documents.

So that can be very powerful if you remember a specific phrase

or you're looking at recipes, which is what

I'm going to show in a second.

So Shared With, so this is who else

had access to this document, And then Follow Up.

If you had done some things as far

as when you had established when you were going to follow up

or action items, you can search by those as well.

I would say it's probably not quite as common.

So I wanted to pop over really quick to my personal Google

Drive because I just used a search feature on Sunday,

and I thought it was a fun way I used it.

So I have this giant recipe book.

It was given to me by a very dear friend

who is 71 and has cultivated this recipe

book her entire life.

A recipe doesn't make it in until it

has been tried 10 times, and she has lifetime updates.

Literally, she sends this out to people in paper form,

and it's color coordinated based on type of recipe.

It's super intense, and it means you

have arrived in the world when she shares this with you.

Actually, it's usually part of a present when you get married.

I think she's given up on me.

But anyway, so she gave it to me and--

no, she hasn't.

But she gave it to me in a digital format

because that, to me, is much more useful.

So by accident, I have three dozen eggs in my fridge,

and so I opted to do--

so location.

So I want to only search in the actual recipe book.

Oh, thank you, Eric.

Eric says my screen share is not showing.

So I'm going to switch over.

Thank you, Eric.

So going back, personal drive looks

a lot like the other drive.

So I'm going to go up to search and location,

and I only want to search my specific recipe book folder.

So I'm going to hit Select, and then I'm

going to put has the word egg.

The awesome part is it's going to bring up every single recipe

that has the word egg in it.

And in this case, for my purposes,

it's going to bring up every recipe that has egg in it.

And I can opt to do whatever I would like.

And these are actually then organized in several other ways

as far as content and type of dish.

So I could search for a main dish

that has the word egg in it.

So it's kind of fun.

And for those of you that are part

of the area I was in yesterday, the spinach black bean lasagna

turned out great.

Thanks for asking.

There are a lot of eggs in it.

That's how I found it.

That's what I had for dinner last night.

So obviously, there's lots of different ways

you can use this.

I just wanted to show a fun way, but also a particularly useful

way that was useful for me just last night

and is applicable for real life as well as at work.

Not that real life is not at work.

All right.

So those are the things I wanted to get through.

We have about five minutes for your questions or five minutes

if Tony or Eric would like to add anything

that they think is worth mentioning that I missed.

See, I don't know if I'm ready to share this recipe

book because part of the wonder of this book

is that you're friends with Barb,

and it comes with lifetime updates

because she keeps adding to it as she ages.

I don't know.

If my Tech Tuesday numbers drop too low,

and I have three people attending,

that might be the incentive.

Come get Barb's recipe book, and then I'll share it with you.

Oh, Eric says that's premium content.

You have to pay for that.

You get the screen shot of the lasagna for free,

but you have to pay for everything else.

Any other questions, thoughts, ideas, or things

you would like to share that you have found helpful

when thinking through how to organize or search

for items in your Google Drive?

There's one more thing I did want to mention.

Within My Drive, your file system should be your own,

and it should be something you really take a couple of minutes

to think through.

How will you use these files, and how would you like

them to be easily accessible.

For example, I have, 4-H one.

Several of my previous positions within extension

were 4-H based.

So for me, I created a 4-H folder,

and then I had when I worked in the North Central region,

and then I had judges books.

And then everything else is broken out by county and State.

So for me, that was the logical way

to order my thoughts because then when I was in Wood County,

I would go into my Wood County 4-H folder.

When I was in Waushara County, I would

go into my Waushara County.

And it made my logic easier.

It made sense to me.

It doesn't have to make sense to you.

That's OK.

Nicole asked if there will be another webinar about sharing

permissions.

Yeah.

Nicole, they're absolutely-- we'll talk Nicole.

I might share her recipe book with you

because it's for a Google reason.

There can be a webinar about sharing permissions.

This webinar was not my idea.

This webinar was your idea.

So several months ago, I sent out a survey,

and I asked you guys what you wanted

to see as far as Tech Tuesdays.

And this is one I would not necessarily have thought of,

but there were several requests for this particular Tech

Tuesday.

So thank you if you responded to that survey,

and I really do listen to surveys,

and I appreciate that you took the time to take it.

So this is a direct result, and a sharing permissions webinar

could also be a result. And I'd probably

go into Team Drive sharing permissions then as well.

So thank you for the suggestion.

Oh, and Tina.

Awesome.

That worked out.

Yes.

So I would say we could do one about team drives,

or we could do something that is more permissions based.

And I'll talk about that with our tech team

here in Madison while I'm visiting

and determine what some of those upcoming Tech Tuesdays

can be concerning Google and permissions and team drives.

Thank you for your suggestion, and thanks.

Thanks for typing it in the Q&A. Tony,

did you have something to say?

Excellent.

Thanks, Michele.

She said she'd like to see something on team drives too.

And keep the Google topics coming.

I don't know if you guys can tell by the smile on my face,

but Google is one of my favorite things to talk about.

So I would love to keep some Google topics coming.

I don't see any more--

oh, I lied.

I see a question.

You're welcome, and thank you for attending.

So with that, I'm going to cut it off a minute early,

and thank you so much for coming and continuing

to support Tech Tuesdays.

We will see you in March.
