man there is just so much to get done and I don't think I'll ever finish it
within this limited time frame have you ever said this to yourself do you
struggle with getting things done and you feel that oh my god I will never be
able to complete this today I am going to show you how to stop feeling
overwhelmed when there are a lot of tasks to complete show you how to think
about these particular tasks systematically prioritize them and get
them done one by one to a point where you feel accomplished and satisfied that
yes I have overcome my problem feeling overwhelmed about the amount of tasks
that you need to get done hey self helper today I am going to
break this down for you and help you out with feeling overwhelmed when there are
a lot of things to get done and show you systematically how to go about getting
things into the right frame of mind systematically prioritizing your tasks
and actually going about accomplishing them one by one to a point where you
feel satisfied that yes I have completed my work so how do you go about doing
this there are a number of ways but first of all you have to shift your
mindset because what is feeling overwhelmed feeling overwhelmed is
nothing but a sense of fear that things are out of control there are so many
things to do things seem out of control that's where this is stemming from so
you need to go about systematically shifting that to a point where hey I am
in control now I can go about accomplishing each one of these tasks
remember there are always going to be two mindsets that involve how you go
about thinking about this there are the candles and there are the candles now
the kind do's include all of the things that are out of your control basically
all the things that involve luck decision-making of other people that
involve the gas prices the prices of food all of
the things that are out of your control you have no say in this matter and even
if you did that is little that you can possibly do to go about changing these
things because they involve a lot of people and things that are external to
you your candles on the other hand are what are in your hand you can do
whatever you want with this you are your own master this is what you want to
focus on if you are leading a team you want to use this as a strength and as a
power to go about guiding them on how they can help getting your tasks done
the candles are what give you that confidence the strength of completion so
first of all change your mindset regarding this what are the things that
you can't control what are the things that you can control focus on the things
that you can control because those have real importance once you have these
things in your hand the candles now you can go about prioritizing which one
deserves more importance than the other now remember when we look at the candles
these are a number of tasks we always feel over well
I need to get this done that needs to get completed this assignment needs to
get finished I need to head to the gym and finish my
workout I need to do so many things this is the common problem because all of
these things are floating out there hundreds and thousands of things that
you need to get done a million things you've probably heard this from a lot of
people I have a million things to do and I really don't think that I can get it
done really is it a million things do you need to do let's bring it down a
notch okay maybe it's not a million but I have hundreds of thousands of things
to do really hundreds of thousands of things to do well maybe you're right
okay maybe I have like thousands of things to do thousands of things
hundreds of things we only have two hands and we systematically try to make
a problem seem so much bigger than it actually is and that's we're feeling
overwhelmed comes from we make a problem seem much larger and bigger than it is
and that's when it tends to take over our thought process and what does it
make us do the pain of actually going about completing a task which will
probably make us feel better is so much greater than actually having to move you
don't want to move you don't want to actually take any steps you're so
overwhelmed that you take no action no work gets done you feel even more
anxious and you just keep pushing it to a later date experience this at any
point of time comment down below the reality of the situation is this if
you want to go about transforming this remember that all you need to do when
you feel overwhelmed focusing on the candles you need to write things down
not on your phone not actually say to yourself hey I need to get XYZ done take
a pen take a piece of paper write it down write down exactly what you need to
complete and then have a list in front of you have that list put it up
somewhere where you see it on a regular basis typically this would be divided
into maybe an hour-by-hour basis a day by day basis week by week basis month by
month year by year really depends on what the length or the timeframe that
you say for each one of these tasks demands so
once you have that in place then focus on what exactly needs to be done first
how do you go about prioritizing you have all the tasks in front of you now
it's up to you to prioritize what is more important than the other let me
give you a small example you have four tasks to finish in any given particular
day what are these tasks number one you need to head to the grocery store and
pick up groceries number two you need to study for an important exam number three
you need to pick up the kids number four you need to complete a workout now you
have four tasks in front of you these are the tasks that you need to finish
which one according to you deserves the most importance which one deserves more
priority than the other now these are very generic tasks that you and I may
face on a day-to-day basis however which one deserves the most importance which
one would you go about solving first that is my question to you what I would
like you to do with regard to this in order to function better is to complete
the task not which seems the hardest not the one
that seems the easiest but choose the one that has the most psychological
benefit you heard me right the one that provides you with the most strong
psychological benefit to a point where you can say hey I am most fulfilled by
completing this task and that is going to allow me to feel a lot better about
myself a lot more confident that yes I have completed this task
now completing the other tasks doesn't seem so hard so you're feeling
overwhelmed focused on the can do prioritized what exactly needs to be
done using this method you have everything in front of you now all you
need to do is take action the most important step that people forget when
it comes to actually feeling overwhelmed and going about accomplishing something
that they want for themselves they feel to take action are you failing to take
action are you missing out on this critical
step that demands you to feel accomplished and stop feeling
overwhelmed by any task in your life by any incident it's typically this
particular step you need to take action you have to prioritize which one has the
most psychological benefit for you which is the one that is of most importance
with regard to feeling fulfilled feeling satisfied that yes I have completed
these tasks again going back from step of step number one down to polar step
number four number one have everything minimized maximize the problem less
reduce the intensity bring it down to the bare necessity what is it that you
need to do are there hundreds of thousands of things know a few things
that require listening take a pen and write each one of these down then
prioritize everything listed out for yourself then
go about taking action against the one that gives you the most psychological
benefit and then complete the rest that's how you go about stopping this
nasty habit of feeling overwhelmed you'll realize that this can become a
habit over time feeling overwhelmed has become a habit because you take less and
less action in your life and that makes you feel poor well because you feel that
hey there are so many things that are out of my control and when you fail to
act you allow these things to grow out of proportion your perception of a
problem tends to blow out of proportion because of this because you do not have
that sense of control and that sense of control comes from taking action against
the candles so what are the areas in your life that demand this you know it
may be going to the gym it may be working out it may be with
procrastination maybe you were feeling angry trying to give priority to a
relationship whatever it may be you need to perform better you need to remember
that feeling overwhelmed is not the solution it's a natural feeling that can
be overcome by taking action so remember that become
more confident by taking more action understand what are the areas of your
life that demand this change and systematically go about shifting and
