- Hi, I'm Zaina Juliette.
(hip-hop music)
- [Announcer] It's Zaina Juliette and friends.
Stay tuned for great conversation and music each week..
(hip hop music)
And now, here's Zaina.
(solemn piano music)
- I have to tell you this,
that I am an entertainer
that happens to have a talk show.
I am not a talk-show host that happens to be an entertainer,
and I'm saying that,
my passion, my world and everything I do
is based around my music and my theatrics
and everything that I work on.
- [Announcer] Something.
Epic. (dramatic sound effects)
Is coming.
- Something epic is coming.
This show is going to be going into syndication soon,
and with sponsors, we're going into an hour show,
and the hour show is going to be a whole different concept,
but still the same, really fun.
It's gonna be fun and filmed in front of
a live studio audience.
I come from a world of passion.
I'm an entertainer.
I've been performing and entertaining
and in the industry since I was a baby.
At four or five years old,
I started performing professionally,
and it was in my passion,
it was in my blood, it was from birth
and by the time I was in 6th grade,
I had my own television show where I was producing
and directing and starring in it.
Also, my school was the set.
I worked with talent every since after 12 years old
and 11 years old, putting on productions
and plays all over the world.
I won over 250,
I lost count after that,
awards in theater, performing arts,
music, student director, producer, all those things.
(dramatic music)
- [Announcer] One girl
that could alter the course of history
(dramatic music) forever.
- But my world was a little different
because I grew up, of case, many of you
probably know by now, I come from a family of entertainers
and there's some powerful entertainers in my family
that are established and in my circle,
and also you should know that everything
that I've done and worked at,
I worked hard, between me and my sister,
and Dale, people on my management team.
I put everything together myself.
I never asked for help from anyone
because I just had my own goals and my own vision,
tunnel vision, and I've always been that person
to create and do it all within myself,
and I'm saying to you to find your passion
and find your creativity.
I'm saying to you because this is what I've gone through
and for me as an artist,
many people wanted me to sell my soul,
many producers wanted me to sell my soul,
and I refused to sell my soul to get to my goals,
and I'm saying this to you because I want you to know
as my song says, I am a warrior.
As my other song says, I'm hitin 'em hard
and no one and nothing's going to stop me or my band.
(soft symphony music)
So I'm sitting here with my wonderful,
amazing, amazing drummer, partner,
friend, buddy, who was with me from the beginning,
putting up this new unit together.
His name is Daniel and Daniel is amazing.
- Thank you, thank you.
- Tell the audience about the project
and how you feel about it and our journey.
- Well, I mean, the past few months,
I spent time getting the right members,
the right players, especially looking for the ones
on the same page, looking at the bigger picture.
We got all the members,
that was the hardest part, I think.
- Very hard. - And all the different
backgrounds, it just meshed well with all of
the rock, pop, soul and funk we're putting together,
a little twist on it and everybody's just so
easy to work with.
It's making the project come along so great
and I couldn't be happier.
- I just think it's so wonderful like what you said,
everyone's easy to work with
and we have a unit that we are so on the same page,
and what I do love about the guys in rehearsal,
this is what I'm not used to 'cause it's always
some kind of friction or whatever,
we don't have that in this project.
They're so easy to work with and when everyone's
in rehearsal, everyone's mind is working like
in unity like one mind, and we all listen to each other.
If someone has an input or something,
everyone's listening and we can talk to each other,
and we get things done.
We get things done so fast.
- Yeah, there's no egos.
Everybody's like I said earlier, everybody's selfless.
It's not about us, it's like how can we make
this sound better.
- Yeah, we're all looking at the project as the big picture.
- Definitely. - As a whole.
For these guys, we have to think outside the box
and we had to go for these missions,
we have to think outside of Las Vegas.
We are an international band and we needed guys
with international appeal, that was new,
fresh, and thought the way we thought,
and so we ended up with some beautiful musicians,
spiritually, everything about them beautiful
right from Alabama.
- The guys rock. - They rock.
It's a whole different vibe,
and they're not all over the place
and everyone is so focused.
That's what's gonna make the whole project excel, I believe.
- Definitely.
(funk music)
- The concept of the show, of course, it's themed.
- Right, well I'm gonna start with,
I feel so grateful that we have all styles
of music in there.
So I can bring the whole big kit.
I always want the big kit.
- Yes, we gotta have the big kit.
- The band before this, I was playing the three-piece kit.
- Oh no.
- So now, we got the whole big 'ole 20-piece kit
we got the hybrid, the electronics, triggers,
you name it.
It's gonna be a rocking show.
- Yeah, we like it big, yeah.
- The whole theatrics,
you just gotta stick around and watch it.
It's gonna be huge, it's gonna be big.
- We're making it into a big production
for a big audience.
I am not an artist that just gets up there and performs.
I and my band,
we've decided to mix music with theatrics.
You know how you can go see a musical
and the musical is all about theatrics with music,
but we're flipping it.
This is a concert with theatrics,
the other way around, and I think it's very powerful,
and you're gonna find in the end soon,
we're gonna let the world know where we're gonna
be performing at some of our concerts,
but the show is amazing and it's themed,
and also we have holograms and beautiful
visuals to go along with it.
(theatrical sound effects with music)
- The new movement, this is girl power.
(suspenseful harp music)
- But I really admire Danny and I'm really grateful
and honored to have you along with everyone else
to be a part of this project. - Thank you for having me,
thank you.
- I'm so, I mean we stuck with it for a while,
because at first, it was.
- It was tough at one point, yeah.
We couldn't find any players, at least on the same page.
- On the same page, that's the key.
There's a lot of them, but to find this group,
it was quite magical.
It wasn't by accident. - No, no.
(suspenseful music)
- Ra'El, I have to tell you how much love this guy.
Ra'El is the M.D.,
the amazing bass player
and a whole lot more.
I call us family.
So Ra'El, is just phenomenal to me.
I've, (sighs), I'm so fortunate to have you
and honored to have you a part of the project..
- Thank you, thank you.
- And if you like, you can tell the audience
what it's like working on the project
and some of the things that we're working on
and your visions.
- Okay, I'll start out by saying,
it's a headache. (laughs)
Naw, I was just teasing, but it's very fun.
I got a good group of guys I'm working with.
Zaina fun to work with.
Sometimes she have her girl power way,
but I can deal with it.
I was a momma's boy, so I'm used to it,
but I definitely enjoy working with Zaina,
the music, the theatrics of the show.
Ah, man, you gonna definitely enjoy this show.
- Yes, we're trying to take it international.
We're trying to take it worldwide.
So we're definitely thinking outside the box,
wouldn't you say?
- Right, we're thinking outside the box,
as far as the show.
So I tell you my favorite part of what she tells
'cause we in this, what you call ether all the time.
Out the box is holograms.
I never heard of that and I've been playing bass
for a long time, and I've been a part of a lot of
different shows.
So, holograms, stuff blowing up.
So you'll be excited, definitely something
to look forward to.
- Dragons and castles. - Dragons.
You might see me come out the ceiling.
I might go crowdsurfing, I don't know.
I might pull some stuff out for you,
but you definitely is gonna love this show.
We've been working, working hard the guys,
I've been grilling the guys about getting
certain stuff together, together.
She been grilling us,
definitely gonna be our time.
- I constantly say, "We have to think outside the box."
I say that characters are forever.
Me and Moneystone both say that.
It is so important to have characters.
It is so important because nowadays,
you can't just get up and you just perform
as a band and just do music.
It has to be more, especially for the type of shows
that we wanna do.
If you wanna reach that mass audience,
that worldwide audience,
you have to think outside the box.
(solemn symphony music)
And we're back with James Ross,
smooth, cool, unique, spiritual, amazing,
amazing, amazing songwriter, beautiful vocalist.
I mean, this is like, I feel like I'm on a cloud.
If I'm dreaming, I don't wanna wake up
because I love these guys so much,
I call them my kings, and this is truly my king.
This is James.
James is an amazing musician, songwriter.
He plays keys in the band and also sings
and everything else that he wants to put his magic too.
(laughs) Right James?
- You know, I do a few things here and there.
- Yeah, and he's humble, as you can see. (laughs)
And ladies, okay, anyway.
So let's talk about this James,
let's tell the audience about the project
and your role and your
dreams and plans for us
as a unit, as a family.
- Okay, well, my initial role with the project
was auxiliary keys and somehow that role
has evolved into doing some vocals,
background vocals and possibly a song here or there.
- Yes. - Which was unexpected.
(laughs)
- Well, he's amazing.
Well you know, I've seen you sing
and I've seen you play and it was so moving
till I was like oh my God, that has to be in the show,
and I'm not like that.
If I see the guys do something magical,
I'm adding it to the show.
- I mean I didn't think it was magical.
- I thought it was magical.
- It was an Instagram post.
- It's magical. (laughs)
it's beautiful and I just love your voice.
I love the tone, I love the softness
and the beauty of it and the audience is gonna love it too.
- Thank you, I appreciate that.
- Yeah. (laughs)
So let's talk about what it's like working with the guys.
- It is a pleasure, honestly.
Everybody that we've got on the crew, they're professionals.
Everybody's good at what they do
and everybody actually cares about what we're doing.
- That's (mumbles).
You know, that's something, that's very true.
That's what it is, everyone cares.
- Everybody's hearts' in this project
in the bigger picture for what we represent.
- Right, right.
I think the guys are phenomenal.
I think you're phenomenal. (laughs)
- I appreciate that.
- Who is James Ross, who is James Ross? (laughs)
- James Ross, let me see, let me see if I can sum it up.
- Sum it up, I don't know. (laughs)
- He's a son of light, learning to live, love,
one song at a time.
- Ugh, that's so beautiful. (laughs)
Did you write that, is that a song?
- That's just off the top of the dome.
- That should be a song, (laughs)
and this is who he is all the time.
He's, I just say a walking
spiritual being
of peace and of course of light.
This is James Ross.
You're gonna see a lot more of James.
Would you like to say anything else?
- Peace and love. (laughs) - Peace and love.
We're gonna come right back with Johnny,
guitarist, amazing.
- [Man] That's you all day, James.
You speak life into people (mumbles).
So use this moment and just.
You can talk about.
- It don't have to be rehearsed.
- The Tribe and our mission,
love, unity, that's what we're all about.
- [Man] This will be your moment.
We'll let you meditate (mumbles)
and we'll create this moment.
Zaina gonna set you up perfectly.
- That's what we're all about.
- You can get your best (mumbles).
- We're back and I'm sitting with my guitarist,
one of the guitarists and his name is Johnny Hyatt,
and you know what, so you know I'm not just
saying this 'cause we're on television,
and this is not fake, I'm keeping it 100,
I love Johnny.
He is one of the most amazing rock guitarists,
not just rock, he plays all styles of music,
writer, composer.
He's amazing and see, another amazing person
makes the Tribe magical.
Johnny, I mean wait, let me even just say this,
you have to hear him play, and you will hear him play
while you're following us on our journey.
Who do they say that you are close to
as far as any other artist or guitarist out there?
I think you're just in your own lane.
- I really don't, I really don't know.
I just play.
- Phenomenal, let's just say, phenomenal,
and I'm so honored to have him
as the guitarist,
and you know what, and a phenomenal person.
Johnny, let's let them know in your words
what it's like being a part of the project
and our journey.
- It's been an amazing journey so far
and everybody that we play with,
everybody that's in the band, that's in the Tribe,
it's just absolutely fantastic.
The musicianship is amazing.
It's a privilege, it really is a privilege
to be onboard and I'm having a blast doing it.
- Yeah, touring internationally?
- I can't wait to get over to Europe and play.
- Yeah, I mean. - It's gonna be an
amazing opportunity. - It's gonna be incredible.
- Yeah. - Yeah, and one of the things
that we're planning is like when we tour,
like we have a tour that we're lining up now
and we are planning on taking you with us.
We are planning on filming the show from location
and letting you follow us on the journeys
and then we're gonna meet people from all over
the world and it's gonna be so amazing.
Johnny's gonna be a very, very big part of that.
- I'm really looking forward to it.
- Yeah, yeah, okay I've always wanted to ask you this.
Where does it come from?
Where does it come from, the magic that you
put onto that guitar?
Is that coming from your soul, your spirit?
- It's definitely coming from my soul and spirit.
I have to go to a certain place
and I draw from that certain place.
I mean anybody can go through the motions
but when it comes down to playing,
those specific lead parts that you really like,
it comes from my very fiber in my being.
- I really believe that because when he plays,
you can actually feel something there.
I don't know, you just go through these emotions
and it's really amazing.
Hello Blackjack.
- Hello buddy, he's my buddy.
This is our mascot right here.
- Blackjack is our mascot.
He's always, always on the, he wants to get on Johnny's lap.
He loves Johnny, so he's always there,
and I noticed when you're playing guitar,
Blackjack is just like at a freeze.
He's actually watching you, he's actually amazed
like everyone else is.
- He's a good dog.
- Johnny, I'm so honored to have you on the project.
Is there anything you wanna say?
- Just thank you for having me.
It's a pleasure. - You're amazing.
- As well as you and everybody else that's in the project.
Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
- I love it.
