business owners making all the time.

some of the mistakes that I have made
in this online business venture
and some of the mistakes I'm seeing other people make
so that you don't have to make them
and you can get to your profitable,
beautiful online business faster
but before we get started, you guys.
127 five-star reviews over on my Facebook page.
Thank you so much for leaving those.
I hope you know how much that means to me
because when I first got started in this venture
I was honestly scared to go online.
Ecommerce, I could hide behind my computer
in my pajamas and it was a safe place for me.
I think that's why ecommerce really appealed to me,
selling products online,
is cause I didn't have to put my face out there.
But almost two years ago I got this
little kick in the tush that said
I needed to start teaching, and I was scared.
I was scared of reviews.
I was scared of putting my face out there,
but now that I see these reviews
and what you're writing,
this tells me I made the right decision,
so thank you for supporting my dream
and thank you for letting me teach you
all the mistakes I made so that you don't have to.
And I do have to tell you that
my mistakes are what made me a success.
So if you've made mistakes, congratulations,
but I'm about to tell you some things
to help you skip past that part
so that you can get to putting that money
in your pocket a lot faster.
This review that I wanna read came from Misty,
and Misty, you're awesome.
Thank you so much for leaving this.
It says, "I thought I knew what I was doing with
my business before but I have truly learned so much.
Alison is transparent, honest, and truly
wants to see my business succeed.
Thank you, Alison, for your patience
as you school even the slightly seasoned."
Misty, thank you for taking the time to write that.
That means so much to me.
Okay, so let's hop in to the three things
that I see new business entrepreneurs make.
And the reason why they stick out to me so much
is because I made them in the beginning to.
The number one thing is I needed to hire faster.
I'm seeing a lot of entrepreneurs
try and do every single thing out there,
and when I hired, ah.
It was amazing what it did for me personally
and what it did for my business.
Yeah, I knew it was hard to write a check
out to someone because I needed to earn.
Like, I was earning that money;
I wanted to keep it in my pocket.
I was spreading myself way too thin.
So one of the first hires that I made was a photographer,
and that literally saved me
thousands of hours and probably a...
I don't know, way too many hours in prep work.
And that was my first, and I will always recommend that
is to hire out the work that
you're not truly passionate about
or that you don't necessarily want to do.
My next hire was shippers.
How do I help, or get this shipping off my plate?
I didn't want to ship,
and so I was constantly trying to figure out
how I could get the shipping off my plate.
So look at what you're doing right now
and how can you get some of those
everyday tasks off your plate
so you can focus on your business,
cause that's where you should be.
The second thing is self care.
Are you sleeping enough at night?
Are you sleeping on the warehouse floor?
Are you staying up until 3 AM?
Are you not eating because you're too busy?
Yeah, you probably are.
And I see it happen so much.
I remember when I first started,
I literally slept on my warehouse floor,
and every hour I had to wake up,
reset a machine for it to get started again.
And if I could go back to my...
I don't know, how old was I?
31-year-old self, I would have said,
"Alison, go to bed.
Alison, hire faster.
Let someone else do this work and take care of yourself."
So don't forget about your self care
when you're building your business.
We're busy; we've got kids,
we've got so much going on,
but you need to make yourself a priority
cause if you're broken,
nothing's gonna work.
The third thing is you need
to put more money in your pocket.
I know it's hard when you're starting a business,
and you're like, "Oh, I just need to reinvest
all my money," or you hear people saying,
"Oh, it's gonna take you like three to five
years before you break even,"
that's junk right there.
Kick that out of your head.
You should be paying yourself.
There's a really great book that I read
the other day called "Profit First,"
and it talks about how you need to be
putting money into your pocket all the time.
It just, just do it.
Trust me.
With my first ecommerce business,
I decided to wait for a very long time before I get paid.
We started in April and I didn't
take out a penny until August,
and we basically ate a lot of beans and rice
because everything we did,
we just put back into the business.
And I know that you sacrifice
when you're starting to build a business,
but when you do start getting the income
coming in, start putting more into your pocket.
You don't wanna ruin your business by taking too much,
but there's a healthy amount
that you can put in your pocket because you've earned it
and it will help keep you motivated as you keep growing.
So those are my three tips.
I also have a fourth, it's a bonus.
This is one thing that I wish
of all the mistakes that I've done,
and I still after all these years,
there are times when I still make this mistake,
and it's listening to your gut.
Your gut, your heart, the spirit,
whatever you believe in that's telling you
what your business really is,
who you really are, the power within you
that can make this happen, listen to that.
Not the stupid thoughts that come into your brain
of the self-doubt and the overwhelm
and that you're not good enough.
Kick those out, listen to your gut.
You know what's best for your business.
I've had to learn that lesson many times.
When I didn't believe or listen to my gut...
Maybe I'll go into that another time
because it's kind of, it gets very very personal about
just believing in yourself.
And there were two times in my business career
where I didn't believe in myself and I got...
Things did not go very well.
I'll just put it that way.
And one time, I'll dive down deeper into that
but the wounds are still a little bit raw.
I'll just say that for now.
But anyways, listen to your gut.
Always listen to your gut.
It knows what, it knows what you're supposed to do.
And when I listen to mine, I succeed so much more.
Okay, don't forget to like, share, subscribe,
all that social stuff.
Don't make those mistakes.
Go build your business,
and put more money in your pocket.
I'll talk to you later.
Bye.
