welcome back to do today's video Holly Brown is already tracer let's look into
that for those you that don't know Holly Brown is a youtuber who is an artist
with over a quarter a million subscribers now she was recently
involved in a controversy where she was exposed for tracing and you know that
that is exile in the artist community if you don't like the fact that I use
references and I don't freehand everything then that's fine
but there was wait a second
she was called out for tracing and then she says and if you don't like that I
use references and I don't free and everything well I'm gonna go ahead and
throw this out here right now this is this is my opinion all art is
inspiration using a reference not a big deal at all it art and music are in
painting art in anything it all comes from inspiration first a
lot of people pointed out that I did not draw this alphonse in the background
that was actually just traced from a reference well not even from a reference
I just took I straight up just like traced it and this is not gonna be a
fine I think the last thing that your followers are gonna want to hear in a
controversy exposing you for tracing is that you traced I never like used
tracings as final artwork I just mostly do this to help with composition to
figure out everything because first of all this is not exactly a very dynamic
post plus this is not actually the size of alphonse because if it was Edward
would be really really tall so what I'm getting out of this is that the only
thing that she did draw in this picture was at in fact Edward everything else in
the picture was traced which seemed so because you can see the lines are
absolutely straight and it doesn't seem like an original piece but
is it wrong that she traced any aspect of this picture let me know what you
think in the comments below there's another youtuber named Angela Wallace
who brought up a really good point let's see what he had to say a lot of
people pointed out that I did not draw this alphonse in the background that was
actually just traced from a reverence well not even from a reference I just
took I straight up just like traced it well that's not using the reference that
that's just tracing and you didn't mention that it was traced when you
posted into your Twitter okay so he says the fact that she did not say that this
was a reference and that she did trace it when she posted it to Twitter that's
the issue and I think that's what a lot of people are having the issue on here
is I will Photoshop shoot in to figure out how it's actually done and then I
will you know adjust from there these are never going to be like the final
things because again it's a sketching phase that's like if you've ever liked
drawing pieces of art and then you were tracing
them and then when you got done you ran up to your family missus like look what
I did you wouldn't do for instance look what I did and you didn't say that you
traced it in fact it might be so good well beyond your skills that your family
might be like oh wow and then it's kind of like that kind of issue in a scenario
and I feel like a lot of her fan bases just hurt because she did she had not
and has built a community in following based upon people thinking that this art
was original art and I see this as a common trend in the artist community so
if you're a new and upcoming artist just put your references out there it's
entertaining that really the channel is entertainment and your followers fan
base not only love the art that you're doing but they kind of liked your
commentary with it I'm fully behind the fact that if you didn't have a good
personality as well as decent art your channel would not as grown as big as it
has is if anybody thought like that's just my process is just like stealing
screenshots from Full Metal Alchemist than drawing it that wasn't my intention
I honestly just kind of forgot that I I hadn't redrawn the final image because
again these were when I wrote on a second she just said that she had forgot
that she had traced them now that and that's really hard for anybody that's
watching this apology video to feel any type of way or to even feel sorry
because you've just said maybe you forgot you're a YouTube channel that's
over a quarter million subscribers at this point you either have it or you
don't you can't just forget and that leads me to another point I want to make
later on in the video so at the height of this controversy being exposed for
tracing without any explanation she decided to delete her Twitter saying
this I deleted my Twitter because I was spending I have one of those apps on my
phone that like shows you how much time you spend on Twitter and I was spending
like three hours a day on Twitter not to mention I don't think social media is
necessarily good for my mental health especially when there's drama but yeah
this isn't final artwork she didn't really give a reason as to why she
deleted her twitter people were saying she deleted her twitter because she was
being exposed for tracing and rather than come out with an official statement
she just deleted it all together this was more or less an excuse you didn't
really give any type of reasoning behind it and then on top of that I'm told that
she actually didn't even delete it so she lied about that oh so you didn't
delete your Twitter because of this person called you out for tracing it was
only because you spend too much time on it and definitely not because you can't
delete tweet replies so the call-out was kind of just on your Twitter forever hmm
but wait as this person pointed out Holly didn't even delete her Twitter she
just protected it that's right she put her Twitter on private and then told all
of her subscribers that she deleted it that is a blatant lie if you profited
your Twitter the that would be what you tell your
subscribers you don't tell them that it's deleted it makes her story very
fishy very on compelling what choice do we have to believe other than there's
wrong doing going on no I understand that people make mistakes but I don't
think by just saying that people make mistakes all people make mistakes that
should be a reason enough behind the fact that you did something wrong my
opinion is is that yeah it's okay to reference because most of everything in
the world is a reference of a reference of a reference our is inspiration and
that's the beauty behind it recognizing ourselves in a piece whether it be a
poem whether it be a painting whether it be music that's one of the greatest
things of life I don't think there's anything to be ashamed behind that now
lying and doing something like using things for reference tracing things and
then not telling your audience and alluding to the fact that you are all
behind that that's dishonest you are responsible for Aubrey
percussions behind that irresponsibility seeing as you are over a quarter million
subscribers now I think this is a case of and I've seen this many times before
somebody that blows up too fast she's only got about a hundred and something
videos so some of those videos might have got popular really quick her
personality was great people loved and connected with her personality that's
why her channel blew up a lot of people would like to say it's the art but it's
not really come on guys if the art was bad but the personality was awesome just
like in relationships between people it's not all about looks it's the
personality you have to have a good personality to make it on the internet
that's just how it goes I don't think that her channel should be deleted I
don't think she should be over I think she should fess up to everything that's
been going on and I think that she should carry on with the personality and
I think if anything this is a good opportunity for her to explore new
talents in her art maybe take some art classes maybe really dominate herself
aside from every other person on YouTube and do it different
that's what I think but I'm always interested in what you guys think so
just let me know below that being said let's see what else we got here oh there
is a bigger issue that I do want to bring up
it was the live stream that she had the other day is not good it's never
understand that he forced me to suck his it's like bit by down like you know how
easy that be I mean come on you got teeth right like I don't know so yeah I
said that in a live stream and I didn't realize at the time that it sounded like
I was talking about rape that's not what I was talking about and I'm sorry I know
that sounds gross I know it like from the perspective of rape it sounds pretty
fucking bad like so she said that in a live stream it seemed very insensitive
it caused an outrage in the community and this attributed to her now dying
Channel as you can see on social blade she is trending down 210 percent for
views 325 point 2 percent for subscribers in the last 30 days I have
never in my entire life seeing a channel decline so fast in the last 30 days
losing almost three and a half thousand subscribers now on 2018 11:15 it looks
like she did delete a video I'm not sure what this video was but seems like after
controversy after controversy has attributed to her dying channels my
full-on opinion about this afterwards about the tracing as I said before I
don't think it's so much as the art as the personality
I do think art is an important piece but personality is by far the most important
thing to ever have in content creation if you do have a channel or any other
thing then the next controversy about the insensitivity zuv rape and things
that she said you can't take those things back and it's really hard to shy
away from the fact that you did say those things on live stream I would urge
everybody to look at this from an angle compassion I don't think that she's an
evil person and obviously she's done a lot of good for a lot of people now this
could be seen as like okay the people that this did polarize and the people
did did take offense to this they're gonna leave and so far 33.5 but almost
3.5 thousand people have already done that now there's gonna be a lot of
stands for her Holly Brown and they're gonna stay maybe this is the balance
that she needs for her channel to go forward either way I think she should
look at things in Ridley check her inner dialogue because it looks like since
this has been happening she's come out with video after video of pleading and
saying oh I've messed up I'm gonna be better I don't think this is the angle
you do people don't respond to things that you say as much as the actions that
you do action is always more powerful than words but as interesting as this is
there's always some system or interest to me that's right you guys say I
wouldn't or too thick so what's going leave your creative interest which
bosses the comment box is always brothers the sisters I will see you in
the next video I mean she messed up I don't think that she should be deleted
or over I think that the things that she did do she should apologize but I think
she should commit through to greater action and consecrated effort to improve
her situation that's what I think but I know that you're ripping and if you're
not ripping your Gregan how do you become a member the rest are all you
