How do you love the poor?
Do you sometimes feel utterly frustrated?
Disappointed?
Irritated, when you try to help the poor?
But they don't want to be helped.
My experience, you know.
As a teenager, I was already living in the slum area, doing ministry work.
Knocking on doors.
Sitting down on their floor.
And talking with them.
Laughing with him.
Eating with them.
You know, laughing at their jokes.
Trying to.
And just loving them the way I believe Jesus would love them.
And then, in my 20s, we built Anawim.
And I lived in Anawim for three long years, you know, just taking care of the abandoned;
abandoned elderly.
And I loved that period of my life and to this day, we have got all these ministries
helping the poor.
But I must tell you, I would confess this to you that there are so many times, it is
so frustrating.
You know, sending kids for example from the bundok (mountains), you know.
Who would have been there condemned to poverty.
But we were able to send them to school.
You know, grade school, high school, college.
But then, they would fall into vices.
And then, I just say, "Oh no, you're gonna help your family."
But no, they're there.
I remember giving capital; seed capital to poor families, you know.
That they would have their own goats.
Or pick a small piggery, you know.
Tilling their soils, so that there are vegetables.
Some other fancier businesses, like you know he this guy wanted to have an air conditioner
cleaning service.
And so, he needed his compressor.
So, we bought him one.
And we said, "Okay" And then, later on...
As the months went by, I would find out the business is gone.
They spent the capital, and they're back to square one.
And it was just so frustrating.
And it's the temptation is to stop, right?
Like, "Okay, I've had it, you know."
But no.
The answer is 'no', do not stop.
Because we're made to love.
We're made to care.
We're made to think not of ourselves, but of other people.
Hi, my name is Bo Sanchez.
Welcome to Fulltank, your place of inspiration.
I pray that you will be blessed, as we share the gospel for the day.
And our gospel is Matthew 5.
Where Jesus says, "Blessed are the poor for theirs is the kingdom of God."
God loves the poor.
And that's enough reason for us to love the poor.
Those who are broken.
Some of them may not be materially poor.
But some of them.
But all those who are in the periphery of society.
Those who are broken.
Those who are wounded.
Those who are rejected by society.
These are the favorites of God, and we're supposed to love them, and we're supposed
to care for them.
We're supposed to be Jesus to them.
And it's not easy.
And so, let me give you just two strategies.
So, they're very important.
One is compassion.
You need compassion to be able to love them.
To stand in their shoes, and to feel what they're feeling.
Because it's so easy to look down at them.
And say, "You know, why are you like that?"
No.
Some of them, they've got their self-worth is so broken.
That it's so difficult for them to move, and they're always stuck.
And that's why they sabotage their own growth.
Because of a homing instinct like they go back to their poverty, because that's all
they knew.
That's all they know.
So number one is compassion.
Here's number two.
Wisdom.
You need a lot of wisdom.
Sometimes, you need to know the right timing to be able to help them.
You cannot help anyone that does not want to be helped.
So, you need to move them first to that position.
But there's a third message I want to share with you.
And it's something very simple.
Why should you love the poor?
Yes, because God loves them.
But here's the thing.
Because when you love them, the greatest reward is that you change.
Your heart expands.
And you become a different person.
Father I pray for this person watching this video.
That you help this person grow in love.
Grow in compassion.
Grow in wisdom.
In Jesus' name.
I pray that as this person serves others, you will take care of their needs.
This person's needs.
In Jesus' name.
Amen and amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
God bless you.
Hope to see you in my banner seminar, November 10 on "How to make millions in the stock market?"
I teach people finances, basic finances.
How to invest.
Why?
Because if you grow your finances, you'll be able to help other people, and bless, and
do the will of God.
God bless you everybody.
I'll see you tomorrow.
