College Didn't Make Me Happy; Jesus Did. - Duration: 6:02.

Hey! So I'm just gonna be like a weirdo and sit in my car for a minute, but I

wanted to talk about tonight. Mostly this is for me

just like needing to talk about it while it's still fresh on my mind and while it

just happened. So I went to my high school because they did a play, which

was so good and I'm really happy I got to go see it. I got to see people who

knew pre-Jesus me, different than the people here who also kind of knew pre-

Jesus me, but the people in high school, they spent all day every day with

me and they're like "College seems like a really great place for you. You seem to

really love college," and I was like "Yeah I love college. I'm glad I went here

instead of anywhere else." and they're like "That's so great that

college did that." and I was like"Oh no no no no." It's not college that made me

happy; it's Jesus. It's Jesus! Jesus made me really happy! And I appreciate

moments like tonight where someone who knew me before and knew a

completely different me can look at me now and say "You're really really happy."

And they can see that difference. And sometimes I forget

for a brief time, like I briefly forget how unhappy I was. Who I was before

just seems so far away now. And yes, I'm still dealing with things that I

dealt with before, but the person and the how I viewed life just

seems so distant and so far away and it's hard to believe that it was a year

ago. I got to share that and I got to say "yeah college is great, but Jesus is what

made me really happy. I just think it's really cool that even among

the stress of like finances and the holidays coming up and how I'm going to

split my time with like family and all of that,

um the like stress and worries that have been on my mind for the past few weeks,

even with all of that, they can still look at me and say "You're happy and

you're a happier person." And it makes me just really really appreciate

everything that's happened to get me here. It's just really great and I am

really happy and I love that I can share that. I love that it's not something that

I feel like I have to hide or that I want to hide.

And it's not something that really can be hidden. It's so obvious and

I'm so thankful for that. Yeah it sucks that I had a time

before I knew Jesus, and before I had Him in my heart. Yeah that sucks, but

because of that I can now share how happy Jesus has made me. I hope I'm

making sense. I'm kind of just like rambling on. Yeah I thought that was

really cool and I thought about it the whole way back to campus about how

how cool Jesus is and

how different I feel, how different I see things, and how different I talk to

people, how I hold myself and all this stuff. It's just really great. And things

aren't perfect, and they're not going to be perfect. You know, there's no promise that

things are going to be perfect, but I now have hope that I didn't have before. And

people see that and that makes me extremely happy and it's happened a lot

over the past year where someone will say "You're a happier person," I'm like

"Yeah I'm a happier person." It made me even more excited to continue growing

because there's so much growth that is yet to be done and it just makes me

really want to share my feelings and my story and such.

I'm thankful for little moments like this that I can say "No, it was Jesus."

That's it! That's all I wanted to say. Thanks for listening. God is good.

He's really good. Good night!

Liverpool news: 'Real Madrid wanted me but the manager got upset and they pulled the plug' - Duration: 2:40.

Pennant signed for the Reds from Birmingham for around £7million in the summer of 2006

He eventually left to go on loan to Portsmouth in January 2009 after an underwhelming spell at Anfield

But he claims the Spanish giants wanted to sign him in the same winter window before then-boss Juande Ramos pulled the plug on the deal

"Real Madrid wanted to sign me when Juande Ramos, was in charge there," he told FourFourTwo magazine

"The board wanted to do the deal as they wanted a right-winger. "On transfer deadline day I got a call from my agent, saying, 'You could be going to Madrid – keep your phone on'

"But the board had gone over the manager's head, so he started to get upset, and to placate him they pulled the plug on the deal

"The club wanted me, the manager didn't." Pennant, 35, is currently playing for Billericay Town after a nomadic career that included spells at Arsenal, Stoke, Wolves and Pune City in India

But he did once line up against the club that nearly signed him during a loan spell with La Liga outfit Real Zaragoza between 2009 and 2010

Real - who were managed by current West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini - ran riot as they beat Penannt's Zaragoza 6-0

And he admits a move to Los Blancos may not have been the best thing because of the way he behaved at Zaragoza

"On days off, I would go to Madrid or Barcelona for a good time," he added. "Once, I went to Barcelona for a night out and then got the train back on the morning of training, but I felt so bad that I couldn't go in, so I told them I wasn't well

"The club doctor came to my house to check on me, but I didn't answer the door. I think they knew!"

MISO- Take ME - Duration: 3:33.

Do you have something to say

Cause the feelings in my mind cannot escape

Would you ever take me, cause my heart is all I carry

Feelings in my mind I cannot explain

Far away there's places to see And all the worries and the lies cannot see me

Could you ever take me 'Cause my heart is all I carry

The feelings in my mind I cannot explain

Maybe, we need some time to mend this broken trust

I don't want this to end and fade to dust

Baby, we need some time to mend this broken trust

I really want us to start up this trust

20 days and I don't know what pace this is If I could read your mind would you notice it

Discolor all the worries, find the right exit I promise not to hide, I give you full permit

I'm understanding that you wanna be good friends A very special timing we can alternate

I'll be right there Do more than care

I know what I want is to speed it up with you I know I'm a girl, but not the average kind

You're saying all these aimless things I'm not surprised But I'm infatuated by the way you smile

I don't need a man to complete me Strong like a diamond, you can't break me

But you could be my pearl king I could be your diamond queen

Maybe, we need some time to mend this broken trust

I don't want this to end and fade to dust

Baby, we need some time to mend this broken trust

I really want us to start up this trust

Start up this trust

Focus it on us

Start up this trust

Don't Should on Me: It's not easy being NOT green - Duration: 4:32.

Welcome to Five Moore Minutes. Helpful videos in five minutes or less that

support the teaching and learning of ALL students. I am your host Shelley Moore

and this episode is Don't SHOULD on me!

Today we're going back to the dots. (because I love the dots!) I told you I'm

obsessed with the dots! But our question for today about the dots is, "have you

ever wondered where this idea of green came from. I mean what does it even mean

to be green?! The idea of greenness is a very early concept in education that is

connected to standardization. And to understand standardization in education,

we have to go back to the Industrial Revolution. Way back when, there was a

flood of people moving to cities to work in factories. And to be successful in a

, consistency was the key. The more similar and consistent your workers were,

the more reliable and safe your product was. In a factory setting, the greener the

better! Public education was then created and designed with exactly this idea in

mind, and it recreated conditions in schools, to mimic the conditions in

factories. So when kids became adults, they would have the skills to be

successful factory workers. It makes perfect sense!

It was the demand at the time, and it's quite a smart strategy if you ask me. And

so, schools were created, and students were taught how to be green. They were

taught to do the same thing. To work alone. To sit in rows. To respond to bells...

this is sounding a little familiar. Now I don't know about you, but I was not a very

green child. And I often struggled in school because I wasn't good at any of

those things. I mean, I'm creative, I hate rules, I don't

like working alone, I'm pretty much always late. This is pretty much an

educational recipe for disaster. (I prefer

windows of arrival time) I had difficulty articulating this tension for a really

long time, and I just really thought I was broken. It took me almost until I was

27 to finally realize that it was actually not me that was broken, but I

was trying to exist in a very broken educational system. This happens to so

many of us students and teachers who are still being expected to fit into this

19th century model of society, when we are very much being propelled into the

21st century at warp speed. (I mean kids are born knowing how to double tap)

Education is close to 200 years off the mark, and more and more, kids are

struggling to fit into this archaic system (I'm exhausted just thinking about

it). So if you, like me, grew up as a multicolored three-dimensional unicorn

of twirling love, you also probably struggled in school. You may have also

noticed that you got a few phone calls, received by your mother, that may have

involved this word. SHOULD. This is where Shelley should be. This is what Shelley

should be doing. This is the reading benchmark that Shelley should be reading

at. I was should-ed on to death! Now I saw a t-shirt once that said don't should on me,

and let me tell you, this could be the new slogan of education systems

worldwide! So here's my challenge for you: How would your classroom or school

change if that's all we did? Let's take out the SHOULD. Let's change our question

from: Where should you be? What's wrong with you? To: Where are you now,

and what's your next step? Can you imagine how successful kids would be and

how school would change if that was the language that we used? But in order for

this to happen, we have to do one very important job,

but it's a hard one, because we did not grow up this way. We have to let go of

average. We have to let go of the comparison and the competition, and this

expectation that kids need to be something other than exactly who they

are. And even more, we have to give ourselves permission to do the exactly

the same thing. Because just like there isn't a standard kid there's also no

standardized teacher. Don't SHOULD on yourself either! Well

there you have it! That is today's Five Moore Minutes. How is this useful for you?!

Don't forget to subscribe, so that you don't miss an episode. And remember to

take a look at www.fivemooreminutes.com to check out supplemental readings,

resources, and supporting research for this episode. See you later!
