Youtube daily but Apr 4 2017

- So I'm here with Mr Bill.

We're at the Memphis Botanic Gardens and we're gonna prune some figs.

- What's left of some figs.

- What's left of some figs.

- We've already had an abnormally warm spring.

- [Chris] Yes we have.

- Before Spring got here, in fact.

And figs, which are a tender plant, had started to put out.

Normally they would not have produced any fresh leaves until at least May, and some

of them in June.

So we've had an unusual growth.

We also had four days of cold weather, extremely cold for this time of year, last week.

And so on our fig trees we have what only a few days ago were nice green new growth,

as far as the fig is concerned.

Now we have two things here, as far as taking care of the figs.

If you prune too early, which we're not going to prune too early for this year because of

the give and take of the weather, these have died back and this time we don't know to what

extent.

Because each one of these leaf nodes, which is just a little lump right on the side of

the tree, is a potential for a bud.

These budded out and then got hit with 34 degrees weather and being a very tender plant

it just curled up and died on us, and dried out in a few days.

Now, if some of the figs have not put out at all, do not be concerned if yours doesn't.

In fact, the one that hasn't put out yet may be in better shape than the one that did and

then got frozen back.

But there again, that's not for the home owner to worry about because even if we had to say

this tree is not going to bear for the year and why are we even fooling with it, you can

take a saw, four, five inches off the ground, take the whole thing out, and before the season's

over, if you treated it properly, it will be anywhere from six to eight feet tall.

- Alright Mr Bill, we're gonna let you have at it.

We're gonna let you start pruning this fig tree for us.

- Well, first thing we need to look at on this tree, we want a good sturdy branch to

support the bulk of the tree.

When you look at this, it had, at one time, a single trunk.

Now, from the old trunk dying out, the two, four, six, eight, 10, 12, about 14 small ones.

Now you don't want that.

So you select.

This is one of the sturdier ones.

That's a sturdy one down at the base.

But those others are laying on the ground.

That's what they're gonna do when they mature.

They get up here and run out like these little bunchy ones here.

As they grow the weight'll get to 'em, they're down at the ground anyway, and it'll pull

it to the ground and pop the stump out.

- [Chris] I gotcha.

- So you wanna pick out two, three, maybe four and take out all the immature ones around

it.

These leaf nodes right here are pointing all different directions.

If you cut it in here where the leaf nodes are thick you're gonna get a burst of little

limbs in there.

Very desirable for a small tree.

And you want limbs with leaf nodes for making fruit, not a long spindly plant like this

one has got.

Alright, if you wanna have figs to eat but you don't have a huge amount of space then

you might want to come in here about head height and do your cutting.

The problem is, if you do your cutting too soon as some of us have done, because I had

to, I was shaping my tree for visual effect as well as bearing fruit.

But by pruning it back early this is a fairly hollow stem right here.

If you get a little moisture in here and then the frost hits it, it will just explode the

limb, occasionally, if it's extreme.

So we've got six leaders here.

I would take two more out.

Most gardeners do not prune as much as needed to be pruned.

They're always afraid they're going to ruin the plant, whether it's a fig plant, any of

the fruits that cluster on there.

You're doing yourself a disfavor if you don't thin 'em out.

The ones who are here to Memphis Botanic Gardens, when we had an orchard here, we had a rule

of five inches apart on prune.

People get very upset when you tell them that, but you'll have more poundage of fruit if

you've properly pruned it than if you just let it stay there.

Also, when you make a cut this severe, pick out where you want the replacement limb to

come.

You've got a marker there already on the plant where the leaf node's gonna come out, so that

one, if cut off here, is gonna go this direction.

And if you can get several leaf nodes in here on a cut like that, then you come up with

a lot more fruiting because this is gonna throw a cluster of new growth.

- [Chris] Gotcha.

- If you wanna root you some plants from this, five new leaf nodes from your trimming.

At least two leaf nodes, I prefer three, below soil level, two above, so that you've got

a place for the first green limbs to come out.

So that's just the basic way.

That one doesn't need to be in here at all.

It's running parallel to the ground, not upright.

- There you go.

- Okay, so started coming around.

One more cut.

And now we have, we gotta take that one out.

Some one who needs a plant, you pick it up, there are not any roots on that one so we

can take the whole thing out.

And that is basically the shape, a basic shape.

- Basic shape.

Now Prince Harry plans his first skiing trip with girlfriend Meghan Markle - but she CANCELS charity - Duration: 3:35.

Now Prince Harry plans his first skiing trip with girlfriend Meghan Markle - but she CANCELS

charity trip to India over security fears Prince Harry is already planning his second

holiday with new girlfriend Meghan Markle as the pair enjoy their first romantic break.

The loved-up prince is set to take Meghan away skiing, which may soften the blow of

her delayed humanitarian trip to India.

She has been forced to delay the trip to India for charity work amid security concerns now

that she is dating a prince.

The actress was due to fly there later this month with children's charity World Vision,

for whom she is an ambassador.

She is currently with Prince Harry on a romantic break in Norway.

'This will be Harry and Meghans first ski holiday together, which to ski bunny Harry

is a big deal.

Its not just the skiing, the whole apres ski social aspect is right up his street.

'Obviously his uncle Andrews chalet in Verbier is preferred by his protection team

because they know every inch of the land, but Harrys love affair with Norway is only

deepening after his time with Meg there at New Year.'

Harry is said to be deciding the exact location for the trip, thought to be happening in February,

but is taking advice from close friend Inge Solheim, a polar explorer who has given him

advice on previous trips.

It could also be a chance for her to meet his friends as they are said to have been

invited to come along on the trip.

The holiday will likely come after Meghan's postponed trip to India.

A source told the People: 'The trip has had to be put back due to organisational concerns.

'Since Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry became public knowledge, her profile has risen

dramatically and that brings a lot of things with it.

'It has not been rescheduled for any definite date yet but it is not expected to happen

now until at least March.

'Meghan is disappointed her India trip has been put back, but she understands why.

'Dating Harry has changed her life dramatically, but she couldnt be happier.'

Meghan had spoken about the planned trip in October, before her relationship became public,

and said she was looking forward to setting up a 'girls' programme' that she'd been working

on for six months.

The couple celebrated the new year together before flying out to Tromso, on the Norwegian

fjords, where they also whale watched and enjoyed romantic lake trips.

And the pice de rsistance of their first trip away together was looking up into the

night's sky at the Aurora Borealis.

They are thought to have bonded over their shared love of humanitarian work, which Meghan

has written about on her blog The Tig.

She wrote: 'Ive never wanted to be a lady who lunches Ive always wanted to be

a woman who works.

And this type of work is what feeds my soul, and fuels my purpose.'

When she was last on a trip with World Vision, to Rwanda, in February Meghan visited clean

water projects, helped build a well and met many Rwandans who have had a lasting impact

on her life.

The actress does admit that balancing a life of luxury to one where she witnesses people

denied of the most basic needs can be challenging.

She adds: 'Guiding my heart though the swinging pendulum from excess to lack of access is

sometimes challenging.'

Sewol-ho salvaging operation continues, but draining issues emerge - Duration: 1:29.

The teams working on the retrieved wreck of the Sewol-ho ferry are facing some challenges

draining excess water and oil out of the vessel, but crews say they are steadily overcoming

the obstacles.

As the ferry is slowly moved to dry land,... more belongings and bone fragments have also

been found.

Cho Sung-min has the latest.

Authorities said on Monday that drainage of the retrieved Sewol-ho ferry is finally resumed,

with mud clogging the bottom of the vessel cleared up.

The full drainage of the ill-fated ferry is yet to be completed, but salvage operators

said that they will implement alternative measures.

Operators said twenty four more module transporters could be brought into the site in Mokpo Port

to help carry the vessel onto dry land.

However, it will take two to three days for the additional equipment to arrive, according

to operators.

Following the mud-clearing process, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced three new

bone fragments were retrieved from the wreck as well, making the total number of remains

to twenty.

This in addition to 79 items including pens, wallets, a credit card, and mobile phones,

as well as a passport that was later found to belong to Lee Joon-seok, the ferry's captain

who left the ship before securing the safety of passengers and crew and is now serving

36 years in prison for criminal negligence and dereliction of duty.

Harry and Meghan are set to slope off for a romantic break... but poor old William - Duration: 2:14.

Harry and Meghan are set to slope off for a romantic break... but poor old William may

miss his Alpine adventure with Kate.

With a month to go until Valentine's Day, Prince Harry is planning a romantic getaway

with girlfriend Meghan Markle to Verbier, his favourite Swiss ski resort.

Whispers from the resort tell me that Royal aides have already carried out a recce to

check out any potential security issues.

Harry will be delighted to learn that the security team even checked out one of Verbier's

top nightclubs, Casbah, for him.

Now, anticipation in the resort is building.

My mole on the slopes said: 'Locals recognised staff who have previously skied behind Prince

Harry when they came looking around Casbah recently.

'Now the whole place is buzzing about having a visit from Harry.'

Harry knows Verbier well in 2013, he took his then-girlfriend Cressida Bonas to the

resort and was seen canoodling with her on the slopes.

He is said to be comfortable there as it is peppered with high-profile friends and family

who can protect him.

The 32-year-old Prince and his special guest could find privacy in Richard Branson's pile

The Lodge, although it costs 126,000 to rent the whole place over Valentine's week.

Alternatively, they could stay in the Duchess of York's Verbier chalet.

Actress Meghan, 35, who lives in Canada, is certainly used to the cold, but she is better

known for her love of beachside yoga than snow sports.

The slopes are a favourite venue for Royal romancing.

Prince William famously wooed the young Kate Middleton during ski trips to Klosters before

they married.

Last year he accompanied her on a family trip to Courchevel in the French Alps.

However, I can reveal that William's work commitments this year mean the Duchess of

Cambridge may have to take their children George and Charlotte to ski school without

him.

Zven's playstyle: "Win lane if you can, but don't cost your team the game. Don't try to be a star." - Duration: 5:30.

High elo.

Yeah, I really think so.

I didn't really know many people that got me into pro gaming.

I think I was very, very--like, how do you say it--famous but not famous at the same time.

Everyone knew who I was, but no one actually knew who I was, right?

I was just a high-ranked solo queue player with two accounts in top 10 of Challenger.

And then, I had a lot of attention from pro players, but I didn't actually have many friends

that were pro players.

I had, like, Mithy, Nukeduck, some of those guys.

Febiven, Odoamne, who was going pro that year.

So I knew some people, but I actually didn't have, like, contacts with anyone until a few

months before I signed my first contract.

So I would say high elo was more important to me.

But I think for many other players, it's most important to have good contacts or relationships

with players.

I mean, being a pro is kind of like a full-time job--that it's not just full-time, but it's

24 hours a day, you know, and you're always pro player.

You're not just something else.

You don't go to work everyday.

You are at work all the time.

And being a pro player means every day is... you're at work.

You're working all time, almost.

And when you have free time, you're not with your family or your girlfriend.

You're in a house with your coworkers, right?

So it's kind of like a really full-time job and, on top of all that, if you are really

good, it's even more.

On top of that, there's traveling, as you said, there's tournaments to play.

There's more preparation than usual, and there's less time off, which for some players is really

hard to deal with.

Some teams are very good and have more tournaments like MSI or Worlds or IEMs on top of everything else.

So it's a lot of work, basically.

I used to idolize Rekkles because he was very... always the same, consistent, and never behind--never

ahead, maybe, but he was always the same player in every game.

So I thought that was pretty good, to be always--never costing your team the game, but sometimes

winning the game for your team.

So I used to look up to him and try to copy what he did, until I realized that I could

do what he did differently or better.

So I changed my own style.

And I think my style is, win lane if you can, but don't ever cost your team the game.

Like, don't try to always be a star player.

Don't try to be, like, spotlight all the time.

Just try to be as aggressive as you can without dying.

I'd call it calculated aggression, where you always play aggressive but don't get to the

point where you die or you cost your team something.

That's how I'd play.

And I also play for the team more than anything.

I don't play for my own individual spotlight or fame.

I try to play for the team to win the game, and if the win condition is me carrying, then

that's what it is.

We had talked about it, and we had options to go to several teams.

Both of us had many different offers or, like, opportunities to go to different regions, even--

NA, that is.

We had talked about it together, and we said that we play better together, and we wouldn't

want to play with someone else--both of us didn't want to play with someone else.

And so we decided to stay together, and G2 was the only team that had bot-lane open,

basically, so yeah.

We had talked about it and we wanted to stay together after the OG thing, and we went to

G2 because it was the only team we could go to.

And also G2 was the best team, right?

So yeah.

I think good.

I think G2 is a great organization with good people behind it.

I think they are kind of what I'm looking for in an organization, in a way.

They try hard to improve the business part of the org, and they're also very good to

me and to us, I would say.

They try hard to not only be a good team in League, but a good team against international

competition, and they are also trying to be a good team in other games like CS:GO, Hearthstone,

Vainglory--you name it, right?

So I think it's very important for an organization to be the best you can be, and always try

to look for new opportunities.

And it's something that I like to see in my org, that the org is trying to expand and

be better and better.

And I think G2 management is, like, kind of the unsung heroes of our team that will try

hard to to help us whenever there's problems.

So I think life at G2 is good.

It must be something in the water.

Well honestly, I think--like, serious answer--I think that Denmark has a very high GNP, right?

So I think the life quality of Denmark is pretty good--like, Scandinvia in general,

like Denmark, Norway, Sweden--has, like, high life quality.

I wouldn't call it like that, but it's true.

You have more time, I think, to do what you want in Denmark or in the north, maybe.

So some people want to play games, some people want to play football, and you have time to

do whatever you want.

So... also, I think esports is pretty far up in Denmark for a few years already.

There's tournaments, there's LAN events, there's esport bars, there's esports schools nowadays

where you can actually choose esports as a life kind of thing--a job line.

So yeah, I think a combination of high life quality together with esports being very forward

or--how do you say it--progressed, developed.

North Carolina Claims It Repealed HB 2, But LGBTQ Activists Say New Law May Be Just As Dangerous - Duration: 13:15.

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: It's probably safe to say that many North Carolinians are thinking about

the NCAA today.

But that's not just because the University of North Carolina Tar Heels are facing off

against Gonzaga in tonight's NCAA men's basketball championship.

It marks the second straight year that UNC has made the tournament finals.

But the road to the Final Four was a bit harder this year for the Tar Heels.

Unlike many past years, UNC had to make it without playing any tournament games in its

home state.

That's because the NCAA pulled all regional games from the state to protest the North

Carolina HB 2, which denied transgender people use of the bathroom, changing room or locker

room that matches their gender identity.

AMY GOODMAN: Well, last week, North Carolina lawmakers repealed the law.

But the new law is also facing criticism, and the NCAA is now weighing whether tournament

games should be allowed in the state again.

Under the new law, transgender people will be able to use the bathroom matching their

gender identity, it's believed, but municipal governments will be prohibited from enacting

anti-discrimination ordinances through 2020.

In addition, the law denies employment and housing protections to the LGBTQ community.

Democratic Governor Roy Cooper signed the legislation Thursday, while acknowledging

its shortcomings.

GOV.

ROY COOPER: This is not a perfect deal, and it is not my preferred solution.

It stops short of many things we need to do as a state.

In a perfect world, with a good General Assembly, we would have repealed House Bill 2 fully

today and added full statewide protections for LGBT North Carolinians.

Unfortunately, our super-majority Republican Legislature will not pass these protections.

But this is an important goal that I will keep fighting for.

... Now, House Bill 2 created a misguided, unworkable and unnecessary requirement that

individuals use the bathroom that match the gender on their birth certificate.

Today's law immediately removes that restriction.

It's gone.

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: Governor Roy Cooper's signature came on Thursday's deadline set by the NCAA

for the repeal of HB 2.

The association said its governing board was reviewing the new law and would soon decide

whether to extend a boycott of tournament games worth billions of dollars to North Carolina's

economy.

AMY GOODMAN: Well, for more, we're joined by two guests.

James Esseks is director of the ACLU LGBT & HIV Project.

In North Carolina, Chapel Hill, we are joined by Joaquin Carcaño, who is a plaintiff in

the ACLU lawsuit against North Carolina, a transgender man who works as a project coordinator

at the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina.

We want to welcome you both to Democracy Now!

James Esseks, let's begin with you.

It is very hard to understand what actually was passed and repealed on Friday.

Please explain.

JAMES ESSEKS: Sure.

AMY GOODMAN: Is HB 2 still, in any way, on the books?

JAMES ESSEKS: Well, what happened was, HB 2 was repealed, and it was replaced with something

that does just about the same kind of terrible things to the LGBT community that HB 2 did.

So let's take HB 2 in two parts.

It did two major things.

The first thing is that it barred cities and counties from having LGBT nondiscrimination

ordinances.

That was a permanent ban.

Now it's a ban through 2020.

So, there's a change, but not a big change, certainly nothing on the ground now, anytime

soon.

The piece of HB 2 that got much more attention nationwide, appropriately, was the anti-trans

portion of HB 2, which said that trans people were barred from using the restrooms that

match their gender identity; instead, they had to use restrooms that match the gender

marker on their birth certificate, regardless of whether they had managed to change that

gender marker or not.

That explicit bar on the use of restrooms by trans people has gone, but it's been

replaced by nothing.

And that nothing sounds like nothing, but it's actually enormously important.

This new law, HB 142, says that it's only the state Legislature that can regulate who

gets access to what restrooms.

Cities can't do that.

School districts can't do that.

Nobody else can do that.

But then, of course, the Legislature has said, "We're not going to tell you what restrooms

trans people can use."

So the bar from HB 2 is gone, but it's replaced by a rule that school districts, state agencies,

the University of North Carolina, state buildings can have no rule about where trans people

or cisgender people use the restroom.

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And what does that—what's the impact on that on pre-existing situations.

For example, didn't the city of Charlotte have a nondiscrimination provision previously

that it then withdrew as part of a compromise for this legislation?

JAMES ESSEKS: Exactly.

So, Charlotte had a nondiscrimination ordinance that covered LGBT people and specifically

addressed the restroom issue, question.

In December, as part of an attempt to repeal HB 2, the Charlotte City Council repealed

that ordinance.

So Charlotte no longer has that ordinance, and there are no protections at the city level

for trans people or LGBT people in Charlotte.

And what this does is—

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: But now it's also prevented from reinstituting that, right?

JAMES ESSEKS: Absolutely.

So they can't fix it now, and permanently.

This ban on any regulation by anybody in the state other than the state Legislature about

restrooms is permanent.

And so, it leaves people like Joaquin in a difficult situation.

You can go to your supervisor at work and say, "OK, what's the deal?

Can I use the men's room or not?"

I read that state legislation to mean that the supervisor cannot provide an answer, because

that would be a policy.

That's ridiculous.

AMY GOODMAN: Let's go to Joaquin Carcaño, a transgender activist in North Carolina.

If—you have a suit against North Carolina for HB 2, which has now been repealed.

HB 142 has replaced it.

Your thoughts?

JOAQUIN CARCAÑO: You know, HB 142 is just a repackaged HB 2 under a different name.

As James said, it's been replaced, but we still don't have any safety, we still don't

have any protections, and we're still actively restricted from navigating our daily lives.

AMY GOODMAN: So how will it affect you?

And talk about your activism and the activism that brought North Carolina to the point it's

at right now, losing hundreds of millions of dollars because of HB 2 in place, and now

everything that's happening with the NCAA, pulling the games from North Carolina and

now considering whether or not to consider the new bill, 142, as an adequate substitute.

JOAQUIN CARCAÑO: The fight continues.

You know, I think this was a tactic to sort of undermine our momentum in our fight that

we've invested a lot in the past year to combat the damage of HB 2.

But it still continues, because the—you know, the violent discrimination of this legislation

is still existent in the state.

And so, we continue.

We continue fighting.

We continue to ask for a boycott to the state, for the NCAA to not return to North Carolina,

and for the state and the nation to continue to see that North Carolina is actively discriminating

against our community.

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And what's your response to those legislators who you considered to

be allies in this fight, who were supportive of the LGBT community and then ended up voting

for this particular bill?

JOAQUIN CARCAÑO: They sold us out, I mean, completely.

There were empty promises that were made to us leading up into elections.

We gave a lot of support, and not just, you know, the LGBT community, but our own allies

and our friends, our family, our communities.

We all really threw our support behind these legislators that said that they would protect

us going forward, that they would fight for a complete repeal of HB 2.

And that's been compromised.

Our lives, our rights have been compromised.

And we've been sold out.

AMY GOODMAN: Last year Democracy Now!

spoke to Payton McGarry, a student at University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a plaintiff

in the federal lawsuit filed to challenge the new North Carolina law, HB 2, at the time.

He told us his story, why he got involved in the case.

PAYTON McGARRY: I am a 20-year-old student at UNCG in accounting and business.

Give you a little bit of backstory, I grew up in a small town in North Carolina.

At about the age of 15 or 16, I started feeling different.

You know, something just felt a little bit off.

I started coming out to my family, my friends, and seeing a therapist based on like gender

and all that good stuff at 17 years old, and started hormone replacement therapy at 20—18

years old, sorry.

And here we are.

So, it means a lot to me that this lawsuit is taking place just because of my own experiences

with opposition to my gender.

And I've experienced a lot of just distressing discrimination in North Carolina.

And I can't believe that we're passing laws now that actually not only enable it,

but in some cases require it.

AMY GOODMAN: So, Joaquin Carcaño, the lawsuit is actually named for you, Carcaño v. McCrory.

Now, of course, the new governor, it will change to v. Cooper.

Can you tell us your story, how you came to be the named person in this lawsuit challenging

the state of North Carolina?

JOAQUIN CARCAÑO: Yeah, definitely.

You know, the ACLU and Lambda Legal had reached out to individuals at UNC once HB 2 was passed,

and I had received some communication they were interested in talking to affected students

and staff members at UNC.

And I responded and just said, "This is who I am.

Let me know if I can be of any help."

And the conversation went from there.

But, you know, in regards to getting involved in this fight, I am a transgender male, a

transgender Latino male.

I'm from Texas, where similar violent discrimination and legislation is trying to be passed.

But also, in my role at UNC, I serve the trans Latina community, and that is really, really

important to me, to be able to fight for my community on very many levels, but also offer

some protection to the trans Latina community that I serve, that face lots of discrimination

and violence, day in and day out.

So this is not just about me personally, but about my broader community and who I serve,

in my personal life, my professional life, and being able to offer whatever kind of protection

I can.

And this was an opportunity to take on this fight.

JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And, James Esseks, what about the implication across the country for the continuing

battle in North Carolina?

JAMES ESSEKS: Well, I think, at this point, all eyes are on the NCAA and to try and figure

out what it is they do.

Do they decide that the changes, the small changes, in the law in North Carolina are

enough to, you know, excuse the discrimination, and they're going to sign off on that and

allow the state to once again host championships, or are they going to stand firm and stand

up for the principle that they stood up for at the middle of last year, when they said,

"You know what?

This is not acceptable"?

And the reason all our eyes are on the NCAA is that there's a range of other states

that have similar HB 2-like bills that they're considering.

Texas is prime among them.

And I think if there's a sense that, oh, the business community doesn't care, that

the sports community doesn't care about these laws, we're going to see more of these,

and there's going to be more harm to LGBT people all over the country.

AMY GOODMAN: We want to thank you both for being with us, James Esseks, director of the

ACLU LGBT & HIV Project, and Joaquin Carcaño, speaking to us from Chapel Hill, transgender

activist, student at University of North Carolina, plaintiff in the ACLU lawsuit.

This is Democracy Now!, democracynow.org, The War and Peace Report.

When we come back, we'll be joined by Reverend Barber to talk about other issues that were

involved with HB 2 and also this 50th anniversary of the speech Dr. King gave here at Riverside

Church in Manhattan, speaking out against the war in Vietnam.

Reverend Barber gave the sermon yesterday at Riverside Church.

Stay with us.

Trump Voters: He May Betray Me But I'll Never Betray Him - Duration: 8:51.

NICHOLAS KRISTOF WITH THE NEW YORK TIMES RECENTLY WENT TO

TRUMP COUNTRY, IN TULSA OKLAHOMA, TO TRY TO GET A SENSE

OF WHETHER OR NOT SOME OF HIS SUPPORTERS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT

THE FACT THAT TRUMP'S BUDGET PROPOSAL WOULD CUT A LOT OF THE

PROGRAMS THAT THEY RELY ON AND DEPEND ON, AND IF THEY WERE

UPSET ABOUT THESE CUTS, WITH A BOAT DIFFERENTLY IN

UPCOMING ELECTIONS?

THIS IS AN INSANELY INTERESTING CASE STUDY, AND OF COURSE

IT IS MOSTLY BASED ON ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE, BUT I THINK IT IS

IMPORTANT TO KIND OF LOOK AT DIFFERENT PATTERNS, AND SEE

HOW VOTERS FEEL ABOUT THINGS THAT ARE WORKING AGAINST

THEIR BEST INTERESTS.

HERE IS AN IMPORTANT THING TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE WE CONTINUE

WITH THIS STORY: "WHILE CONSERVATIVES OFTEN DECRY

GOVERNMENT SPENDING IN GENERAL, RED STATES GENERALLY RECEIVE

MORE IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BENEFITS THAN BLUE STATES DO ñ

AND THUS ARE OFTEN AT GREATER RISK FROM SOMEONE LIKE TRUMP."

THIS STORY PERFECTLY OUTLINED EXAMPLES OF WHY THAT IS THE

CASE.

IN ONE CASE THERE IS A WOMAN WHO IS AN AVID SUPPORTER, HER

NAME IS RHONDA MCCRACKEN, AND SHE HAD A VERY ABUSIVE

HUSBAND AND WAS LIKELY ABLE TO LEAVE HIM THANKS TO A

PROGRAM THAT SHE SAYS SAVED HER LIFE.

IT IS TULSA'S MESSICK VIOLENCE INTERVENTION SERVICES, AND

BECAUSE OF TRUMP'S PROPOSALS, IF THEY PASS, ALL GOVERNMENT

FUNDING FOR THE PROGRAM WOULD BE CUT AND PROGRAM WOULD NO

LONGER EXIST.

SO, RHONDA WAS ASKED, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS?

HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL?

AND SHE'S LIKE, WELL, THEY SAVE MY LIFE AND MY SON'S.

MY PRAYER IS THAT CONGRESS WILL STEP INTO SAVE DOMESTIC

VIOLENCE PROGRAMS.

SHE IS MAD THAT DONALD TRUMP IS CUTTING FUNDS FOR IT, BUT SHE IS

SAYING THAT SHE WOULD STILL VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN ANYWAY, WHICH IS

INSANE, RIGHT?!

SO, THAT'S ONE EXAMPLE.

THEY ALWAYS THINK, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IT IN THEIR HEARTS,

IT'S THE OTHER GUYS, USUALLY BROWN, THAT ARE TAKING

ADVANTAGE OF THESE PROGRAMS.

ME?

I DESERVE THE PROGRAM.

THIS IS A GOOD PROGRAM FOR ME AT A BAD PROGRAM FOR THEM.

WHICHEVER PROGRAM THAT THEY HAPPEN TO BE.

SO, WHEN YOU THINK THAT IRRATIONALLY IN THE FIRST PLACE,

IT IS HARD TO SHAKE YOU OUT OF YOUR IRRATIONALITY.

IT IS HARD, AND THIS INABILITY TO EMPATHIZE WITH OTHER

PEOPLE I THINK IS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WITH EVERYTHING, I

THINK, IN THIS COUNTRY RIGHT NOW.

BUT LOOK, EVERYTHING A PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES, EXCEPT

FOR THE TOP 1%, GOES THROUGH MOMENTS IN LIFE THAT ARE

SUPER DIFFICULT, AND YOU NEED HELP, RIGHT?

I AM NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT THAT.

I DEFINITELY NEEDED THAT HELP WHEN I WAS A COLLEGE

STUDENT, MY PARENTS WEREN'T MAKING THAT MUCH MONEY AND

I NEEDED TO PAY FOR COLLEGE.

GOVERNMENT STEPS IN AND HELP TO PAY, WITH GRANTS AND STUFF

LIKE THAT.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

OUR TAXPAYER MONEY SHOULD GO TO PROGRAMS THAT ACTUALLY HELP

OUR PEOPLE, AS OPPOSED TO WEAPONS MANUFACTURERS AND

THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO, ONE PERSON SAYS, "WHY IS BUILDING A WALL MORE IMPORTANT

THAN AT GETTING PEOPLE?"

THAT IS WHAT BILLY HINKLE, A TOP VOTER WHO IS INVOLVED IN A

PROGRAM, CALLED TULSA WORKADAVANCE, ASKED, THAT

TRAINS MOSTLY UNAPPLIED WORKERS.

WHAT MISTER HINKLE SAYS THAT HE WAS STILL VOTE FOR TRUMP.

THEN SHUT UP ALREADY.

THEN DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM BEING CUT.

IF YOU WANT JOBS PROGRAMS, DEMOCRATS ARE IN FAVOR OF

JOBS PROGRAMS.

THEY'VE GOT A LOT OF OTHER PROBLEMS, BUT THAT IS NOT

ONE OF THEM.

THEY CONSISTENTLY GO TO HELP PEOPLE GET RETRAINED.

SO, WE DIDN'T VOTE FOR THE WALL, YOU VOTED FOR THE WALL.

NOW HE'S PLANNING ABOUT THE WALL.

YOU VOTED FOR TRUMP AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WALL?

TO BE FAIR TO BILLY HINKLE AND THE OTHER GUYS, TRUMP DID LIE

ABOUT JOBS.

HE DID SAY HE WAS GOING TO BRING BACK JOBS, SO WHEN HE CUT THE

JOB PROGRAM, I DO THINK IT IS LEGITIMATE FOR HINKLE TO

THINK THAT IS A PRETTY BIG BETRAYAL.

BUT HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO BUILD A WALL, HE SAID HE DIDN'T

LIKE MUSLIMS AND HE WAS TO DO A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN ON MUSLIMS,

AND IN MANY WAYS HE IS DOING THE MUSLIM BAN.

BUT IN THIS CASE, HE SAID HE WAS QUITE JOBS AND HE ISN'T GOING TO

DO JOBS.

BUT DESPITE ALL THAT, BILLY HINKLE IS STILL LIKE, NOPE,

I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

ANOTHER ONE, JUDY BANKS, A 70-YEAR-OLD

STRUGGLING TO GET BY, SAYS SHE VOTED FOR TRUMP BECAUSE HE

WAS TALKING ABOUT GETTING RID OF THOSE ILLEGALS.

BUT SHE NOW FINDS HERSELF SHOCKED THAT HE ALSO HAS

SET HIS SIGHTS ON FUNDS FOR THE LABOR DEPARTMENT'S SENIOR

COMMUNITY SERVICE IMPLEMENT PROGRAM, WHICH IS HER LIFELINE.

THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT HELPS THE ELDERLY FIND JOBS, AND AT LEAST

MAKE MINIMUM WAGE SO THAT THEY CAN GET BY.

SHE SAYS, "IF I LOSE THIS JOB, I'LL SIT AT HOME AND DIE."

AND YET, KNOWING THAT THIS WOULD KILL HER, SHE WOULD STILL

SUPPORT TRUMP, WHICH IS INSANE.

NICHOLAS KRISTOF WRITES, "I TALKED TO MANY TRUMP VOTERS

ABOUT THE IMPACT IF TRUMP'S BUDGET CUTS GO THROUGH, AND

NONE REGARDED THEIR VOTES IN NOVEMBER.

THEY ALL SAID THAT THEY MIGHT VOTE FOR TRUMP FOR REELECTION."

AND IF YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THE BROADER PICTURE, "ONE RECENT

SURVEY FOUND THAT ONLY 3% OF TRUMP VOTERS WOULD VOTE

DIFFERENTLY IF THE ELECTION WERE TODAY."

AND THEY CITED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT REASONS.

REASON NUMBER ONE IS JUST DEFIANCE BECAUSE THEY ARE

ANGRY AT LIBERALS LIKE ME, WHO CALL THEM STUPID BIGOTS,

RIGHT, SO THEY ARE LIKE, WE ARE NOT STUPID BIGOTS SO WE

WANT TO KEEP VOTING AGAINST OUR OWN INTERESTS.

OKAY, DO YOU BOO.

ANOTHER REASON IS, WELL IT'S A LITTLE TOO EARLY TO TELL IF

TRUMP IS A TERRIBLE PERSON WHO IS BASICALLY GOING TO

DESTROY OUR LIVES.

I REMEMBER WHEN THAT POLE CAME OUT, AND SOME LIBERALS WERE

CROWING ABOUT HOW 3% OF HIS BASE HAS TURNED ON HIM.

THAT IS A REALLY LOW NUMBER, THAT'S NOT ANYTHING TO BRAG

ABOUT.

SO, YOU HAVE TO BE REALISTIC ABOUT IT, SO NO THEY HAVE NOT

LEFT HIM IN BIG NUMBERS, BUT THAT POLL WAS ACTUALLY DONE

BEFORE HEALTHCARE, AND HEALTHCARE ACTUALLY DID HIT HIS

NUMBERS PRETTY HARD, BECAUSE THAT WAS A GREAT NUMBER OF

PEOPLE WHO WERE LIKE, WAIT, I'M GOING TO LOSE MY HEALTHCARE?

THE GUY TOLD ME I WAS GOOD TO GET BETTER HEALTHCARE AT A

BETTER PRICE.

SO, I THINK THAT THE THINGS THAT HE IS DOING AT THE MEDIA IS

FLIPPING OUT ABOUT, THE WALL, THE MUSLIM BAN--

VIDEO BUFFERING ñ

IT GOES ON, AND SO, I THINK THAT HIS NUMBERS WILL ERODE, THEY ARE

BEGINNING TO ERODE.

ONCE THE STUFF SETTLES IN.

BUT NOT ERODE TO THE DEGREE THAT THEY SHOULD, WHICH IS THE POINT

OF THIS ARTICLE, AND GIVING YOU THESE ANECDOTES, WHICH THEN

FINALLY LEADS ME BACK TO JUDY BANKS, THE 70-YEAR-OLD

WHO WAS WHAT TO STAY AT HOME AND DIE.

WELL, YOU ARE OFFENDED BY PEOPLE LIKE US WHO SAID THAT SOME

OF YOU, NOT ALL OF YOU, I WOULD SAY AND I HAVE SAID

THROUGHOUT, ABOUT HALF OF YOU, ARE STUPID BIGOTS.

THE OTHER HALF GOT LIED TO, AND YOU ARE GOING TO GET PISSED, AND

YOU ARE GOING TO FLIP OVER, NOT BECAUSE YOU LIKE LIBERALS OR

DEMOCRATS, BUT BECAUSE YOU FIND THAT TRUMP IS A CHARLATAN.

I FEEL BAD FOR JUDY BANKS, BECAUSE I DON'T WANT HER TO

SIT AT HOME AND DIE.

ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU SAYING, IT'S OKAY IF I SIT AT HOME AND I

AS LONG AS HE GOES AFTER THE ILLEGALS, AND REMIND ME HOW THAT

DOESN'T MAKE YOU A STUPID BIGOT.

JUST ON THE IDEA THAT HE WILL GO AFTER BROWN PEOPLE, EVEN IF

IT MEANS IT KILLS THEM, THEY ARE STILL GOING TO SUPPORT HIM.

SO THAT 50% OF TRUMP SUPPORTERS ARE NOT MOVABLE, BECAUSE THEY DO

NOT LIVE IN THE RATIONAL WORLD, AND THEIR HATRED HAS CONSUMED

THEM, SO THAT IF YOU HURT THE OTHER GUYS MORE THAN YOU HURT

ME, EVEN IF YOU HURT ME, I'M STILL GOING TO VOTE FOR YOU.

THAT IS INSANE, I MEAN THAT IS DEEP HATRED.

Competitive Kate tries to outrun her husband but gets royally beaten by Prince Harry - Duration: 6:26.

Competitive Kate tries to outrun her husband but gets royally beaten by Prince Harry as

they take part in a relay race at London's Olympic park

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went head to head in a relay race this afternoon alongside

Prince Harry as they turned out to support a training day

for runners who are taking part in this years London Marathon, although they wont be

donning their trainers for the 25 mile course themselves .

Competitive Kate tied her hair back as she pelted full throttle along side her husband

during the 100m sprint which took part at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP) in

London on Sunday.

Despite her efforts the Duchess, 35, lost out to her brother in-law who came in first

followed by Prince William who came second thanks to the encouragement of well-wishers

from the sidelines.

It seems that the mother-of-two might have missed the memo this afternoon as she arriving

in a pair of jeans which might have been to blame for her loss.

The Duchess may have ditched her usual high glamour in favour of a bright orange puffa

jacket but it seems she wasn't prepared to stoop to a pair of joggers for the training

day.

Kate paired her 280 quilted ski jacket by Perfect Moment with a pair of black skinny

jeans which will surely prove a challenge to run in.

Kate joined her husband the Duke of Cambridge and brother-in-law Prince Harry for a training

day with the runners who are taking part in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon for

Heads Together, the official Charity of the Year.

The training day is for Team Heads Together which is the campaign to change the conversation

on mental health which is spearheaded by the royal trio.

Prince Harry appeared to have looked to his sister-in-law for style advice also pictured

in a puffa jacket in navy blue and appeared, too, to have shunned joggers in favour of

jeans.

Equally Prince William appeared to have forgotten his kit showing up in a pair of khaki chino

style trousers and a navy woolen jumper.

While she may have come in last there appeared to be no hard feelings between the Duke and

Duchess this afternoon.

The royal couple appeared to be in a particularly flirtatious mood today and could be seen embracing

one another following the race.

Approximately 150 runners are taking part in the training day, which will include a

run around QEOP and a training session on the London Marathon Community Track, beside

the former Olympic Stadium.

The day will also include informative presentations and question and answer sessions in the Copper

Box Arena, on training and preparing for a marathon from specialists in areas such as

nutrition, running and stretching.

Team Heads Together runners will also receive advice and encouragement on how they can lead

from the front in achieving the campaign mission of starting millions of conversations on mental

health in 2017.

The runners are fundraising for the eight Heads Together Charity Partners or the campaign

itself and there will be a session to support their efforts in raising funds for the services

and support giving vital help with mental health, day in, day out.

During a cool down at the Copper Box Arena the Duke gave a few words of encouragement

to Team Heads Together runners.

The Duke of Cambridge said: 'We want to normalise mental health, we want to get people talking

about it, to make it more normal and to reduce the stigma.

What you are doing and having so many of you here today, youve already seen the benefit

of joining in, by being part of this marathon, we want to make it a mental health marathon.

'You are crucial to making this happen and we cant do it without you.

We really hope your training goes very well.

Good luck with the training and we look forward to seeing you on the big day.'

Those who raced with the royals today included Pippa, Henrietta and Will Creasey who are

running to raise money for CALM, after Henri and Wills father and Pippas husband

Dr Terry Creasy committed suicide following an acute struggle with depression.

Pippa said: 'Suicide was not a word we thought would be associated with us.

Nevertheless, four years after tragically losing the head of our very special family,

we find ourselves hoping to use the experience to raise awareness of what is the biggest

cause of death of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

'As incomprehensible as this statistic sounds - husbands, fathers, brothers and sons are

being lost to a silent killer that as a society we find difficult to talk about.

It is time to start the conversation.

Which is why we're pleased to have the opportunity to run the Virgin London Marathon in support

for CALM and Heads Together.'

'The strenuous training programme and the twenty-six mile sightseeing extravaganza will

undoubtedly be an immense physical and emotional challenge.

We hope the test will be made significantly easier knowing we are running for two fantastic

charities that are raising much needed awareness of mens mental health.'

Their Royal Highnesses will also set out how all 38,000+ runners in this years Virgin

Money London Marathon will be able to help Heads Together make it the mental health

marathon, alongside supporting whichever great charity or personal cause they may be

running for.

Their Royal Highnesses will be joined by Paula Radcliffe, the current Marathon World Record

Holder and three-time London Marathon winner, who will also give advice and encouragement

to the assembled Heads Together runners.

British 400m Record Holder and London Marathon regular, Iwan Thomas, will also join the training

day as part of the Team Heads Together team running this years Marathon and take part

in a Q&A session.

Tesla why stock should be 150 but going to 1000 a share - Duration: 9:51.

Bonjour bigots of what I was this me

holla ma welcome to five reasons why

Tesla's stock should be 150 but it's

going to a thousand so I was really

fascinated by the fact that there are

numerous analysts and hedge funds that

are predicting that Tesla's stock price

should be about one hundred and fifty

dollars a share and perhaps declining

and I wanted to review some of the

concepts behind from a business

standpoint why this makes sense and it's

not working as planned the first item to

consider is if you watch General Motors

BMW Mercedes etc an interesting problem

has popped up which is in Germany right

now the one of the environmental heads

of a fairly large if you will state in

Germany currently drives Tesla Model S

because she's the environment minister

and there's no domestic manufacturer

that provides a car with enough range

for her to be able to move between all

aspects of where she currently lives I

thought this was fascinating because

even at home the major manufacturers are

at a disadvantage and they're busy

deconstructing in particular the Model X

right now in order to further understand

the creative threat so the first point I

wanted to make is that Tesla is supposed

to be squashed by mercedes-benz or one

of the other big names even for example

on the folks in Korea who have a longer

knowledge of battery technology the

reality is obviously does not occurred

the minimum standard that most people

use for the distance that you want to

purchase a car with very low range

anxiety is 200 miles in distance and

currently

whole exam through the revolt really

offers a vehicle that is competitive in

that fashion the second reason why so

basically you know the problem right now

is that Tessa should be destroyed by a

big firm because all they have to do is

use their ability to underprice anything

Tesla can do to put Tesla out of

business the problem is it's hard to

underprice someone when you actually

don't have a product you can sell to

compete with them that would be the

offset of what customers might buy so

this gives Tesla sort of cover at least

for the next couple of years until large

manufacturers can come up with

legitimate responses the second angle on

this is a concept that's called fungible

capilla Tesla concept because they're a

small firm and they're a bunch of risks

should theoretically have the problem of

having a hard time going to the capital

markets to get cash or even getting

loans from big banks because they are a

risky composition as you're watching the

stock price arise and you're watching

all these happy customers using their

products the threat of them going out of

business is actually lower dramatically

by the number of users that currently

have their vehicles you use and are

buying them etc etc so the declining

stock price based on you know them

potentially being destroyed by a new

competitor or an old competitor is kind

of limited by the fact that there's this

issue of batteries GM is using batteries

GM etc i should say they're all using

korean batteries primarily I guess

Panasonic is in the mix as well but

their foreign battery manufacturers and

it takes time to build new factories

and not only does it take time you also

have the problem of you need sales to

validate acquiring those batteries so

there's a potential that if you build

your own battery facilities do you have

enough throughput of sales to justify

anybody doing business with you the

third reason why Tesla should go out of

business is it on musk is crazy in

theory and therefore you have a

mercurial leader who doesn't have a clue

you can't really argue that one because

the biggest clue he has is that you have

people giving up bigger name vehicles

like porsche and mercedes very smart

people with a lot of money coming to

recognize the performance capabilities

that tesla offers without compromise so

what do I mean by without compromise

I've been testing cars for over 30 years

and one of the rules of thumb is that if

you have a car that's extremely fast etc

it's very hard to get into it's very

painful to drive on a day-to-day basis

so when you have a view of elected Model

S and ends you're able to outperform as

well if not better than cars that are

worth two three four times the money but

you don't have the compromises if no

back seat no trunk low to the ground

hard to get it etc etc so educated

consumers are recognizing that this is

one of the best values and vehicles you

could even consider getting the often

mentioned final ? is Tessa should go out

of business because as soon as Porsche

or BMW or others deliver their answer to

Tesla you know the advantages Tesla has

will disappear and therefore the

customer will all flock to these large

manufacturers for this solution I

believe that there's some validity to

that because the dealer networks that

are enjoyed by the big makes are clearly

an advantage they also have capital

advantages because they can love her

access to capital from all the

operations they currently have all of

that is true one of the rules in Silicon

Valley is that if you have a company

that's in operations what can you

deliver to the customers that's new and

sufficiently beneficial to pull you away

from the solution you already have so

the answer to this is that I think the

biggest solution is that many folks have

long standard relationships with big

names it's just that in three years from

now when those large companies are

willing to come after Tesla with

legitimately competitive products to

what extent will test I have an

advantageous position in relationship

with customers in a bunch of different

ways one of the biggest sort of just

about to happens is there's talk of a

15-minute fully charged option coming in

via Tesla so from a technology

standpoint if you can almost equivocate

charging your Tesla to truck to actually

putting gas at a car in five that'll be

a game changer because other

manufacturers may may have may develop a

capability because they could install

the technology for that but if you don't

have supercharger stations just to fill

that you

have the challenge of how do you compete

with it and then that's the final item

here is that Tesla legitimately been

accused of using up a lot of cash but I

believe that for example right now with

the Chevy Volt Chevy both has a problem

and the problem is that any charging

solution they might use takes extensive

amounts of time so the charging station

I think could be a competitive advantage

of Tesla's wielding currently and into

the future that's one of the ways that

they could retain their customers even

when competing entities do arrive so a

lot of data points here but in theory

testa should have been put out of

business and be a hundred fifty dollars

doctor by now it's not that because many

of the advantages that they embody over

competing firms are actually fairly wide

advantages that they can maintain even

when competitors arrive and the final

note is that the market for TVs is

actually increasing for a whole bunch of

reasons so even when those competitors

due to arrive for quality solution

there's a large pent-up demand of

customers waiting for those products

which means Tesla can mean and so can

other firms and Paul make money thank

you for interest
