Tech Pilgrimage to Apple, Google, and Facebook - Duration: 8:56.

Hollywood may have its star home tours but here in the Silicon Valley we have

the tech pilgrimage. Every day hundreds of tourists come through Apple, Google,

and Facebook to get their pictures taken in front of the corporate headquarters

sign and to shop at the corporate store. This began in the early 2000s when CEOs

like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg became celebrities and it's now

snowballed into a giant tech tourism. Today we're going to do our own tech tour.

Behind me here is the original Apple headquarters and arguably where I

believe tech tourism first began. I actually worked for Apple from 2000 to

2007 and I remember that shortly after the launch of iPod and iTunes Apple

became this icon of pop culture celebrity. Soon after that we started

seeing people show up in front of IL1 here which is the main reception area

and also where the executive offices are of first Steve and now Tim Cook and they were

just taking pictures and going to the corporate store to shop and it's

snowballed in the next couple of years to the point where we started seeing a ton

of buses just busing loads of tourists in to do exactly that.

Apple is famous for its secrecy so most of the buildings are on lockdown.

Tech tourists are restricted to taking pictures from the outside and shopping

in the corporate store. If you know an Apple employee have them meet you here

so you can get their 10% discount on anything in the store. This is a mini

version of the regular Apple retail locations but there are tons of unique

souvenir items in addition to the typical fare you'll find in your hometown.

This campus is on a street called Infinite Loop which is a nod to the

programming concept of the infinite loop or a sequence of instructions that loop

endlessly without a terminating condition. The street is a giant crescent

that loops back on itself. There are six buildings surrounding a central

courtyard with an employee cafeteria. On Fridays the courtyard is filled with

employees, food, and kegs for the weekly company beer bash. Occasionally an

outdoor stage is set for the latest concert the Apple music team has lined

up. In the last few months they've had Demi Lovato and Stevie Wonder play here.

In the mid-2000s Apple outgrew Infinite Loop and began gobbling up real estate

all over Cupertino. But this really dispersed employees and so Apple decided

to consolidate and build a much bigger facility down the street.

This is Apple's new campus which is down the street

from their old headquarters in Cupertino.

This actually used to be the old headquarters for HP in Cupertino which I also worked

at so for me it's just really interesting to see the whole

transformation of this campus here.

The building is a gigantic circular shape and dubbed the spaceship by locals.

The curved panes of glass make it a technically difficult structure to

execute. Personally I think this is the best expression of the original

infinite loop concept. This new location will have a separate visitor center

across the street and feature a corporate store and cafe so tourists can enjoy in

peace and not get in the way of busy employees.

Up north of Cupertino is the Googleplex in Mountain View.

It's a sprawling campus made up of a variety of

different existing office structures totaling about 3.1 million square feet

of office space. Google is probably the most friendly to tech tourism with

greeters and lots to see.

This is the main campus of the Googleplex. These

buildings used to be SGI or Silicon Graphics a now-defunct hardware company

that used to sell hardware to enterprises.

You'll best know this campus from the movie "The Internship" starring Vince

Vaughn and Owen Wilson with its nap pods, the open floor plans, the sand volleyball

court and of course the 19 fabulous gourmet free restaurants.

You're free to wander around the campus although the buildings are off-limits

unless you're accompanied by an employee. The main campus has plenty to see.

It's constantly bustling with visitors attending community activities like the

recent Technovation Competition, lots of quirky architectural and landscape

elements, and tons of sculptures and landmarks for great photo ops. If you

have the energy walk or drive the campus extension to appreciate just how large

and sprawling the company is. The larger Googleplex is in a continual state of

expansion and the new North Bayshore complex will include a visitor center.

In the meantime you can visit the temporary beta one that has a corporate store.

Let's go in and check it out!

Behind the store you can visit the giant Android statues that represent each of

the different Android operating software versions; cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo,

gingerbread, honeycomb, ice cream sandwich, jelly bean, lollipop, and marshmallow.

On the main campus is a t-rex statue named Stan that was purchased at a charity

auction in 2006.

Wander down to the GARField or Google Athletic and

Recreation Field where employees have use of soccer, tennis, and basketball

facilities. These are generously open to the public in the evenings and on the

weekends. And of course keep an eye out for the

colorful Google bikes that employees ride around between buildings.

Incidentally these get taken off campus all the time. I've seen them randomly at

the supermarket and parked in front of people's apartment complexes.

For the luxury experience there are also guided tech tours.

So I work for Incredible Adventures and we just started a

new tour this year doing Silicon Valley we

go to the Googleplex and we go to Facebook headquarters and a couple other

places and it's a new tour this year because tech tourism is becoming such a

big thing that we are having a lot of people calling in to our office asking

if we offer these kinds of tours. So we went ahead and tried to meet that

demand by adding this tour so it's a lot of fun and people seem to love to see

these places that they use on their phones every single day. Um, and now

they get to see where all of the magic happens so it's win-win for all of us.

Heading north we're gonna make our last stop at Facebook's HQ. It's located in

Menlo Park next to the Ravenswood Open preserve on what used to be the Sun

Microsystems campus. This is the least tourist friendly so expect to spend 15

minutes tops here. Let's take a loop around One Hacker Way.

From the outside it kind of looks like a random collection of mismatched buildings.

This is purposeful and the objective was to make it look like Disney Main Street.

Tourists can't access the phenomenal inner courtyard which is modeled after

downtown Palo Alto. The inside facing sections are all stores that employees

can use for free. There's a health center, a bank, a barber, a music studio, a video

arcade, graphic services, a woodworking shop, bike shop, and a dry cleaners.

There are also 9 free restaurants, a Philz coffee, and a gourmet sweet shop.

The pavement of the main plaza reads "Hack" from the sky.

Facebook also has its own set of employee bikes but they're Facebook blue and much newer.

Across Willow is their new building called MPK20 which stands for Menlo Park

Campus Building 20 that was designed by architect Frank Gehry. True to its

California inside/outside architecture the structure is light and airy and

combines elements of the nature around it including a rooftop park.

If you want to extend your Tech pilgrimage there's Oracle up in Redwood Shores with

its beautiful lagoons and tourist friendly cafe.

In the last few years Tesla has also made the list and its got a great showroom that you can browse

and if you are in the market for a car they'll even let you test drive one.

Always the best way to do these pilgrimages is if you know an employee

who can walk you around and take you to lunch in the cafeteria.

If you've done the tech pilgrimage before please

do share your favorite places and tips and

tricks in the comments below.

'Til next tim,e peace out Geeksters.

Samsung's Next Big Product Will Compete With Amazon, Apple, and Google - Duration: 1:20.

Samsung's Next Big Product Will Compete With Amazon, Apple, and Google

Samsung is jumping into the crowded smart speaker market and will soon launch a product that will put it in direct competition with tech giants including Amazon and Google.

DJ Koh, the president of Samsungs mobile division, told CNBC on Wednesdaythat the company is working on a smart speaker. He told the news network that I am already working on it and the company will soon announce it.

CNBC was interviewing Koh ahead of the Note 8 smartphone launch.       Watch Samsung Present the New Galaxy Note 8 It now comes with a dual camera.

The WSJ reported in July that Samsung was developing a voice-activated speaker powered by its digital assistant Bixby.

The report, which cited unnamed sources, said timing for a product launch was far from determined and noted that an English language version of Bixby had been delayed.

However, Bixby, which was unveiled earlier this year by Samsung, is now available in more than 200 countries and recognizes U.S. Its available on the Galaxy S8 smartphone. Get Data Sheet, Fortune's technology newsletter.

While the hardware—the actual speaker—is important, its the AI-based tech and its potential ability to connect and communicate with other smart devices in the home, that has Amazon, Apple, and Google so dedicated to the space.

The foundation of Samsungs speaker—like its rivals—will be the software, namely the Bixby, the digital assistant that users communicate with. Google Home has Google Assistant, Amazon Echo has Alexa, and Apple Homepod has Siri.

How to Google - Duration: 3:24.

This video will show you how to utilize search tips to get the most out of searching Google.

We all use Google. It's the number one search engine and it's extremely valuable for quick information.

Remember that Google only shows us what is freely available on the web.

Google is great if you're searching for

current news and information,

background information,

statistics,

educational websites, and organizational or company websites.

But searches yield millions of results.

How do you find what you need with millions of results?

The good news is that there are lots of tips and tricks to use with Google to find better results.

The first tip is to be aware of ads.

Google matches ads to a person's search based on how closely the ad matches the keywords.

They will often appear at the edges of the page, such as at the top and bottom of your search results.

Don't worry too much about spelling. Google spell checker automatically uses the most common spelling

of a given word, whether or not you spell it correctly.

You also don't have to worry about case sensitivity. That is, uppercase letters don't matter.

A search for all lowercase New York Times is the same as a search where you capitalize the name.

Use quotation marks to search for a phrase instead of separate words.

Look at the difference between searching for global warming with and without quotation marks.

This can narrow down your search results quite a bit.

If you want to know the meaning of a word, type define before the word to see a range of dictionary definitions.

With any kind of searching, it is important to be flexible with your search terms.

Typing the word OR in uppercase letters can help to expand your search.

This is one time when the use of uppercase matters.

Put a dash in front of a word that you want to exclude from your search.

For example, if you're writing about jaguar speed

referring to the animal, but not the car.

If you really want to get more specific results, try Google advanced search.

You can get to the advanced search page by going to google.com/advancedsearch

Or if you're already in a search results page, click on settings

and select advanced search.

Some of the benefits of advanced search include

the ability to limit to domain such as .com, .edu and .gov

you can limit to file type,

usage rights, and language.

There are many different options to use with Google advanced search.

Next to each option is a tip from Google telling you exactly what to put in that box.

Google advanced search gives you great flexibility.

Knowing all of your different search options with Google will save you time

in finding exactly what you need.

If you have questions about how to search for something specifically,

a librarian would be happy to help. We wish you good luck with your searching!

Apple's autonomous car tech is 'where Google was three years ago' says someone who has seen it - Duration: 3:29.

Apple's autonomous car tech is 'where Google was three years ago' says someone who has seen it

The development of Apples autonomous driving technology is at about the stage where Googles self-driving car project was three years ago, according to a person who has seen Apples tech and is familiar with the technology of several other autonomous car front runners.

Apple is just trying to play catch up, this person told Business Insider.

Googles project, now spun out into its own company called Waymo, is by many accounts the furthest along in self-driving technology. Companies such as Uber, Tesla and traditional automakers such as GM, are all developing autonomous driving technology. .

Apple is a relatively recent entrant to the field. But despite some of the strides the company has made in self-driving technology, it remains far behind some of its rivals.

Apples car project is part of the companys Special Project Team and it famously scaled back its ambitions for a self-driving car late last year. Apple had originally planned to build its own automobile.

The company enlisted a sprawling team of engineers to rethink every detail of todays car, such as replacing traditional car wheels with spherical wheels, ditching the gas pedal, and adding virtual reality into internal displays, reports the New York Times Daisuke Wakabayashi.

In July 2016, the Special Projects team was reorganized under a new leader, Bob Mansfield. Layoffs ensued and, under Mansfield, Apple shifted course away from the idea of building its own car.

The unit is now focused on developing autonomous systems Tim Cook told Bloombergs Emily Chang in June.

Internally, the Apple car project is still feeling the results of the reorg and is still suffering from some confusion of purpose, but it is hiring again, this person told us.

It is specifically seeking out people with autonomous vehicle software experience. With over 250 companies and startups working on self-driving cars these days, competition for talent is fierce, but theres also plenty of poaching ground.

To test its autonomous technology, Apple is operating a commuter car service for employees codenamed PAIL — short for Palo Alto to Infinite Loop — that ferries staff between Apples campus and the nearby town of Palo Alto, California, according to the New York Times.

PAIL is likely based on a Lexus RX450h SUV per photos Bloomberg posted of an Apple test car in the spring.  Earlier this year, Apple registered three Lexus SUVs as self-driving cars in the state of California.

This is similar to how Googles self-driving cars began, by shuttling employees around the Googleplex campus in Mountain View, California.

By 2014 — the point in the development of Googles technology that Apple has now reached — the companys self-driving car technology still suffered from many constraints.

Speaking in 2014, Googles then-head of autonomous cars said that Googles vehicles could not detect open manholes on the streets or see a stoplight that was in front of a bright sun.

The cars could easily be fooled by road construction zones and could not tell the difference between a crumbled piece of paper or a more dangerous obstacle littering the road. .

Lexus SUV equipped with Google self-driving sensorsElijah Nouvelage/Reuters.

According to the source that Business Insider spoke with, Apple is creating its autonomous systems with an eye to the ride-sharing and ride-hailing market but that Apple has no plans at this point to go it alone and try to become the next Uber.

Even if they have this [autonomous vehicle] specialty, and they get to a mature point on it, they don't have the operations expertise. Its the same thing that Waymo is facing, this person said.

So, Apple will be leaning on partnerships with ride-hailing services to help it turn this technology into a new business. Apple has apparently already geared up for that. Last year Apple invested $1 billion into Ubers Chinese competitor Didi Chuxing and has a seat on its board.

Similarly, Waymo has partnered with Lyft. Should Uber get through its current leadership crises by hiring a new CEO who rebuilds the firms damaged reputation, this person believes that Apple could be open to a partnership with Uber as well.

Uber is also creating its own self-driving car technology. And it is currently locked in bitter litigation with Waymo over self-driving car technology.  Even so, Ubers self-driving technology unit is still hiring, and Ubers board continues to support the project, this person told us.

Apple declined to comment. Visit Markets Insider for constantly updated market quotes for individual stocks, ETFs, indices, commodities and currencies traded around the world.

Lead Generation through Facebook and Google Ads for IVF Clinics - Duration: 4:24.

hello everybody so today's conversation is going to be if you have an IVF clinic

what are the various digital marketing strategies that one needs to apply in

order to market it and in order to generate leads at a lower cost

conversion so I am going to cover a couple of strategies here today some of

them are very well known Google Adwords and Facebook Ads I like to share with

you the right ways you can generate leads through Google AdWords at a

relevant or at an appropriate cost of conversion now when we talk about Google

AdWords we understand how effective and efficient but it as a platform is but

the only drawback of today's about Google AdWords is its cost per click and

cost per conversion though these metrics can easily be taken care of if you have

the right landing page if the landing page is responsive and fast enough with

the right content and call-to-action you would definitely get do you'll

definitely get gospel lead at the appropriate cost now additionally few

faiths very important things needs to analyze as well from business

perspective which age group to target what keywords type to ad by the broad or

whether broad match modifier or longtail these keywords after the strategy good

enough to generate leads at the right cost per lead additionally making use of

negative keywords is of prime most importance Google will not allow you to

do remarketing hence it is really important that you ensure once a visitor

lands on your website or on landing page it stays there the more your visitor

will stay there on your website and landing page there are better chances

that he would end up filling up an enquiry form and then it again when that

a query form is filled up it's it to be possibly without real-time basis that we

end up replying to the prospector custom let me talk about why Facebook is

an integral part for IVF clinics to generate leads Facebook when implemented

lead generation or lead Act change the way the market used to

generate leads now as Facebook already knows a lot about us including what we

are searching it will also showcase our ads to relevant customers only we can

very well target the age groups we can very well target the demographic another

geographic data as well as an idea of clinic the important ROI metric for

these should be what is the success rate of these leads what I mean by that is

out of hundred lead generated how many leads end up reaching or how many leads

actually visited the clinic so based on these metrics I would advise that the

prime mostly in generation platform so stay as Google Adwords and Facebook ads

while in addition to these primary platforms once you have established your

Mon appear once you have started getting decent number of leads or when the

optimization has taken place to full extent then you should come on to Bing

ads Yahoo Gemini and other platforms we

should not forget that delete generation is not just a one-time activity your

competitor might try to replicate the keywords you have they might try to

actually you know build a better landing page the only way to overcome this kind

of situations is to actually stay one step ahead how to stay one step ahead is

to build a very strong negative keywords dish build your ad copies to show

relevant terms inside the tight copies make use of all the extensions that are

available including cycling call-out structured and other relevant extensions

if these kind of best practices are followed there is a definite guarantee

that you will be able to generate leads from Google Adwords and Facebook ads

along with other platforms add a reasonable cost stay tuned for more

information coming up on our channel thank you so much this is Rahul Takkar

Walmart diving into voice-activated shopping with Google - Duration: 3:22.

Walmart diving into voice-activated shopping with Google

Walmart diving into voice-activated shopping with Google. Signage at a Laval, Que., Walmart store is seen on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. (Ryan Remiorz / THE CANADIAN PRESS).

NEW YORK -- Walmart is diving into voice-activated shopping. But unlike online leader Amazon, its not doing it alone.

The worlds largest retailer said Wednesday its working with Google to offer hundreds of thousands of items from laundry detergent to Legos for voice shopping through Google Assistant. The capability will be available in late September.

Its Googles biggest retail partnership -- and the most personalized shopping experience it offers -- as it tries to broaden the reach of its voice-activated assistant Home speaker.

And it underscores Walmarts drive to compete in an area dominated by Amazons Alexa-powered Echo device. Voice shopping is becoming a more important part of everyday shopping behaviour, said Marc Lore, CEO of Walmarts U.S.

The voice-activated devices are becoming more mainstream as they become more accessible. Even Apple has one coming out this year. Walmart has said Googles investment in natural language processing and artificial intelligence will help make voice-activated shopping even more popular.

And Lore said the personalization of the partnership means people can shout out generic items like milk, bread and cheese, and Google Assistant will know exactly the brands and the size that the user wants.

Google introduced shopping to Home in February, letting people use voice to order essentials from more than 40 retailers like Target and Costco under its Google Express program. But that was far behind the Echo, available since late 2014.

Walmart, which has more stores than any other retailer and the largest share of the U.S. grocery market, is also working hard to close the gulf online between itself and Amazon.

It has overhauled its shipping strategy and is expanding store-curb pickup for groceries ordered online. But its also had to look beyond itself and form partnerships.

Walmart announced Monday that its expanding its grocery delivery service with ride-hailing service Uber, and its been testing same-day delivery service with Deliv at Sams Club in Miami.

Amazon generally has been building its network of services on its own, using its $99-a-year Prime membership with same-day and even one-hour shipping options to develop loyalty. Its also been drawing in customers with its Alexa devices.

Amazon doesnt give sales figures for Echo, but Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimated that its sold more than 10 million Echo devices in the U.S.

That includes the core $179 Echo as well as the less expensive and smaller Echo Dot and the portable Amazon Tap.

To be more competitive with Amazon, Google Express is scrapping the $95-a-year membership starting Wednesday, allowing shoppers to get free delivery within one to three days on orders as long as the purchase is above each stores minimum.

Walmart is integrating its Easy Reorder feature -- which has data on both store and online purchases -- into Google Express. Shoppers who want to reorder their favourites have to link their Walmart account to Google Express.

With other Google Express retailers, personalization takes time as the assistant learns shoppers preferences, says Brian Elliott, general manager of Google Express. So the quick personalization with Walmart should make voice-activated shopping more attractive, he says.

While one of Walmarts biggest advantages over Amazon is its massive number of stores, Amazons nearly $14 billion offer for Whole Foods could shake up the landscape. Whole Foods shareholders voted Wednesday to approve the Amazon bid.

Walmart says it will be tapping its 4,700 U.S. stores and its fulfilment network next year to offer more kinds of customer experiences using voice shopping.

For example, shoppers can tell Google Assistant they want to pick up an order in a store. Lore said the company wants to make voice shopping as easy as possible.

Thats why it makes sense for us to team up with Google. We know this means being compared side-by-side with other retailers, and we think thats the way it should be, Lore wrote in a corporate blog post.

Independent internet analyst Sucharita Mulpuru-Kodal, who was unaware of the Google deal at the time of the interview, says Walmart is going in the right direction, though it has a long way to go.

She noted that partnerships with companies like Uber enable the discounter to get the business up and running and it will be able to learn a lot.
