Terävä Skrama and Jääkäripuukko Knife and Chopper Review. With Classical Music and Slow Mo. - Duration: 14:31.

If a man or woman is going to be taken seriously as a Youtube knife star you're gonna need-

well, other than hair gel, and the words tactical survival or something about prepping or bushcraft

in the name somewhere- you're gonna need some choppers.

Choppers are overly large knifes that take the place of power tools for idiots, because

hedge trimmers, saws, axes don't give the neighbors things to talk about.

Yeah he was chopping bushes with this large murder blade.

I'd offer my electric hedge trimmer- but there's something not right about him.

And why does he always have a camera pointed at himself.

Is he filming pornos?

I'm late to the game like nearly everything I review here, but all the other outdoor-ish

Youtube experts seem to think the Terava Skrama is a good knife to point a camera at and talk

about for 15 minutes, so why the fuck can't I?

And while we're at it Instagrammer and cool as shit dude Aleforme70 sent me his I'm

gonna fuck this up Jaakaripuukoo to review to, along with a beer.

If you like knives and beer or half of those things please check out his Instagram linked

below this video.

And if you don't you're a complete dick.

So while you sign up for Instagram, so people like you more, let's look at the dimensions

of the Skrama and the Jerkypuke-o.

Did I say that right?

Like the overall lengths and weights.

With and without the sheaths.

I know there are a lot of things to look at here.

Blade sizes and cutting edges.

Look at it this way if you sign up for Intsagram, think about all the creative other unethical

things Mark Zukerberg can do with your data.

Handle Size and grip area.

I for one would like to see him testify again.

Because there's certainly not enough things to pay attention too already.

Spine and handle thicknesses.

Like these Youtube videos.

Instead of learning a new skill engage in some wonderfully passive entertainment.

Talnesses.

Why try and paint a picture of a knife, when this dude here can listen to this asshole

talk about Mark Zuckerberg in a knife video.

The Skrama and the whateverPuuko which I'll link in the description below, so you don't

have to spell it from the way I say it, are available shipped from Finland from a website

called VarusTeleka.com.

This finish knives or whatever are available in a few options, like stainless or carbon

steel, full sheath or basic scabbard, with or without a handle covering.

My Skrama is stainless, and Aleforme70s Puuko is carbon steel…

I think you can identify the steels by how dark the top section of the steel is… carbon

is darker and stainless is lighter.

Ok so a closer look at the Skrama blade- the stainless steel here is known as 4110 or X55CrMoV14-

which they claim is similar to Sandviks 12C27.

If you work in the slime and wetness often opt for the stainless.

If you don't care the carbon steel version is about $10 cheaper.

The edge has a chopping section for most of it and a slightly steeper angle grind for

something called detail work closer to the handle.

Chopping up front feather sticking by the handle.

The Pukko is just your standard small bigass pukko knife, it actually comes in a 5 1/2

and 4.3 inch version.

It feels nice and weighty in the hand- translation not as light as a Mora because if it's kinda

thick blade stock and not quite full but bigger than a mora tang.

The version seen here is $32 euros without a sheath, which is about $30 euros for a dangler

sheath.

So you're looking at about $75 before shipping for it fully outfitted.

And I want to say fully outfitted on my Skarma was a touch over $100 USD shipped.

The sheath and shipping is where they get ya.

Blade finish like the luster or polish is a little uneven, something that affects nitpicking

and not knife performance.

The Pukko is said to have a Scandinavian grind with a small microbevel or cutting edge as

non knife people would say.

And the carbon steel used is 80CrV2.

The product description of the steel makes it sound like a laminate steel… they say

the inner core has a different heat that than the softer outer.

A laminate steel is just steel sandwiched together, and since no other steel is listed

we'll assume it's a laminate of just 80CrV2.

The product description claims the carbon is better than the stainless because of it's

higher toughness and it's easier to sharpen.

You'd choose stainless if you want corrosion resistance and not have to Lube and clean

your blade.

Quite as frequently.

As always stainless is not rustless, just more rust and corrosion resistant.

It's never good practice to leave your blade gross and wet.

Handles.

The material on both feels like a TPE, so a hard rubber with not a ton of give.

That gives you plenty of grip in the wet, but it's not replaceable without cutting

off the material and building a completely new handle around the tang.

The rubber feel of the handles is similar to something like a Fallkniven or even that

Steel Will Roamer I review a month or two back.

The pukko has plenty of grip area for my hands, with a little extra room to spare.

You can almost fit too hands on the Skrama knife so yours and a friends!

I like the feel and function of the handles but not the idea you need someone to make

new handle scales instead of just bolting on new ones like an esee.

You got a hole on the back for easy lanyard-ization.

Might be a good idea on the Skarma whilst a chopping.

Sheaths.

When they say leather, they mean leather wrapped around a plastic core.

Well made, and both have drain holes in the bottom for moisture.

Looks like they'd retain less moisture than a fill leather one, but give you the look

and the danglyiess of a good leather sheath. The sheaths are kind of a necessary add on…

the puukko ships without a sheath, and the Skrama comes with basically the plastic core

scabbard it's leather sheath is constructed around.

The Puukko sheath is a little more akkwaard to close, spelled like this… because of

the snap on the top… so leave it unsnapped for easy unsheathing and snap it when running

through the jungle.

The Skrama has a snap loop, a little easier to snap one handed, same when running snap

it when stationary leave it unsnapped.

When unsnapped the retention is just so so because it's such a heavy knife.

Wellcome to hour 3 or comparispons.

First both side by side.

One is made for chopping and the other smaller chopping.

For what it's worth chopping is both described as an appropriate activity on the product

descriptions… unlike other manufacturers that build stupidly large knives and tell

you they're just for cutting.

Wink wink!

Our knife warranty doesn't cover the stuff big ass knives are sort of good for.

You should probably use an axe.

Now the puuko.

Compared to a Mora Kansbol.

Both grippy handles, the Puukko is a more comfortable handle and has a full length tang…

if you baton baton with the Jaakaripukko, and give the Mora to a friend.

Vangedal Rover.

This who knife is $40 and change shipped.

I'd say the Jaakari is better for durability and grip.

The rover is still a very capable outdoor knife.

Now the Fallkniven S1.

Both similar sized knives the Puukko is a rougher finished but probably easier to sharpen

blade.

Save some money by going with Puukko, go with the Fallkniven to impress knife snobs who

don't use their knives on your Instagram account.

Now the skrama.

Here it is, you all know what it looks like by now.

You're a student of the bushcraft.

How about next to my Zombie Tools Vakra, still my favorite chopper and halloween accessory.

This is heavier, and has more weight behind the blade for chopping.

Also I just really like the feel of the Leather wrapped handle.

And the sheath that has the leg stabilizer mount thingy.

Now the Junglas II, big blade- a lot of fun- it's an esse, so you can replace the handles

and it has an unconditional life time warranty, you're a dumbass and break your knife- they'll

fix it.

You're still a dumbass though.

How about My Aranyik Cane Machete.

I have had this review mostly shot for a while though- just waiting for them to open their

store back up.

It's super cheap at $50 sans a sheath though, but an $8 Cold Steel sheath works.

The only thing that sucks is the handle doesn't have a lot of grip- no rear quill ions or

finger grooves just smooth wood.

Now let's wrap it up verbally- I know you love the sound of my voice- so do I but you're

paying those big Patreon bucks to see a sort of lame mayhem.

Like I'm not fighting bears or hanging from cliffs, but I do drink beers, and play with

sharp things, and say the F word and I think thats almost the same.

These are both good knives for the money I think.

I mean if you look at Cold Steels line of affordable Chinese made Choppers maybe the

Skrama is a little expensive.

You can probably also get a decent Condor for under $100 too.

You can save some money if you go with the carbon steel varieties, and lose the sheath.

As far as JaakariPuukko goes, if you look at a Mora full tang offering like the Garberg

well that's probably more expensive at $80-100.

Both knives can handle whoopins, pretty well- and if you want something finnish, but want

those full tangs because you treat your knives like the people on Youtube do- then these

are good options.

Or just go with a few Cold Steels and a case of Natural light and make a weekend out of

it.

If you like these sorts of videos please subscribe.

Follow me and AleforMe70 on Instagram… links are in the description.

Thanks to him for the use of his Puukko and the free beer.

Like comment, patreon, or don't.

Thanks for watching. (Classical Music plays while the idiot chops with sharp things)

VLOG SHG Airshow 2018 // Turkey // My fiurst music flight - Duration: 24:39.

Hello my friends

and again welcome back at the airport

my nerves are at their limits

(best intro sentence ever)

today i wanted to fly via munich to ankara (as always)

i booked one flight earlier from cologne to munich

so i thought i dont have to stress during transfer in munich

aaaand... flight got cancelled

been booked onto the other flight (with less transit time)

now i am at the aiport... my flight has 1 hour delay

but i have only 1 hour transit in munich

means i cannot get my flight to ankara

so end of the story

they booked me onto turkish airlines

i have to do transfer in istanbul (my absolute "favorite")

which always works "perfectly"

as much as i love the city of istanbul, the airport is a desaster

so i will have to do transfer there

so i finally made it here

although i had to get my luggage back from lufthansa, switch the terminal

do luggage check in at turkish airlines

do all the security again (and all this in 30min)

i finally made it running here to my gate

so i am very curious if my luggage (heli) will make it

but somehow it seems i will be able to get to ankara

i...am...very..curious

and i just want to sleep

so the flight already...

i mean i didnt even start yet

i am still in cologne and already at my limit

well but i wont let this corrupt my good feelings about the event

i am looking forward to it

and will take you with me... have fun

its saturday, i just arrived at the flying site

shortly there will be the briefing. as you see

there are already many people here

you cant see how many people are out there (its too bright)

so my heli looks like this:

welcome again to day one officially

here at SHG airshow in sivrihisar

its already crowded here

its still morning and there are sooo many visitirs here

its getting fuller and fuller

from my experience from last year i know it will be much more soon

its half past 11

so in 30min i will have my first demo, my first one for today

my heli is mounted (as youve seen)

lipo is charged (i hope everything stays together)

wind is medium strength but still there

but its always scary when you have to

fly after you quickly mounted your heli

because you always have the gut feeling like "did i think about everything"?

but never mind... we will do this!

just like last year there will be this "rockstart-thing"

where i will have to get into a cabrio car after my flight

i will show you, one moment

so over there i will be flying and then i will hop into the car and drive aaaaall over here

until here

where

the autograph table will be located

i am very curious. its so unreal everytime ;)

but i will (if possible)

at least film one of my flights

and also

a bit of my car drive and my autograph session

i wish you lots of fun

i am enjoying this already

see you in a minute

i am here at the Catalina

and the lovely guys

the mecanics and pilots

have invited me into the airplane to show me around

and you will come with me

i hope you are as impressed as i am

this airplane is really impressive

these blister windows are really cool

for scenic flights there is nothing better than those

but did you see how small the cockpit is?

i get claustrophobic vibes there :/

but nevertheless

its an original, aiuthentic airplane. i wish i could fly a round with them

but unfortunately its not allowed during the show

i hope you liked this small view into the catalina?

welcome to day 2 and today

i did something special

i edited a bit of music

well i did that soem weeks ago but never practiced to fly to it

but now i thought "i just try it"

gave the music guys my usb, unfortunately it didnt went so well in the first try

because the commentators talked all over my music and i couldnt hear anything

but now at my second try (just some minutes ago)

everything went surprisingly fine

as i said i never practiced a choreography onto it

but i am happy with the result

i filmed the flight with my gopro headcam

the new one from alex (thanks again alex)

i hope you can see something on it

i wasnt able to adjust the cam via preview

because i had to give the music guy my phone

but i hope you can see something on it

hope you have fun and let me know

what you think about my music and my flight

Why do we like solos? | What is Music - Duration: 11:03.

(PLAYS GENTLE MELODY)

Linda, what do you think of solos?

Um, honestly, I like them sometimes,

and sometimes I can find them very indulgent and a bit wanky.

Well, I really like them, and so in this episode,

we're going to be talking all about solos and virtuosos.

Virtuosos have popped up frequently in history.

In the 9th century,

the composer and oud soloist Ziryab

was said to have memorised over 10,000 songs.

He was such an impressive instrumentalist

that he added an extra string to his oud,

used an eagle's beak instead of a pick,

and if he couldn't get any more legendary,

allegedly brought asparagus and cool hairstyles to Cordova in Spain.

Think that takes the cake?

One piano virtuoso and composer in the 19th century,

Clara Wieck,

was so famous,

she had a torte named after her,

and then she married the composer Robert Schumann,

who may have totally cramped her style.

Unlike style-cramping spouses,

changes in music technology often expands virtuosic style.

Improvements in piano technology,

like cast-iron frames in the 18th century,

meant that the piano could take even more string tension

and meant virtuosos

like Liszt and Chopin

could rock out even harder and louder

and play for bigger crowds.

(CHEERING, APPLAUSE)

In Harlem in the '20s,

virtuoso stride pianists like Willy 'The Lion' Smith,

James P. Johnson and Fats Waller,

would try to outplay each other,

developing even flashier styles of piano flourishes

and throwing down their best and fastest playing.

(PLAYS FRANTIC MELODY)

But virtuosity isn't just about crowd-pleasing.

(PLAYS JAZZ MELODY)

Soloing in the impenetrable, speedy and complex musical language

of bebop in the '40s,

musicians like Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk

create jagged, defined and jarring music,

creating an emblem of protest in an era of racial discrimination.

(PLAYS JAZZY MELODY)

Virtuosity often flows from musicians

believing in something bigger than themselves

or spiritual traditions.

It seems we'll always have people

pushing the boundaries of their craft.

The microphone helped virtuosos like Minnie Riperton do vocal gymnastics

that would've otherwise been drowned out by the other instruments.

# Do-do-do-do-do-do...

(SINGS HIGH NOTES)

And the invention of amplified instruments,

like electric guitars,

brought new kinds of performances too.

(PLAYS GUITAR SOLO)

While it's tempting to see it as the pinnacle of musicianship,

at the end of the day,

music is a form of communication

and it's not just about what you're saying, but how and why.

So, Linda, do you still hate solos?

Are you still a solo hater? I don't hate them.

I just like them sometimes,

and we did speak to a bunch of soloists

to find out about their process.

(PLAYS FRANTIC MELODY)

WOMAN: It's so powerful what one person can do,

and I think without constant practising,

this life is not possible.

I try to do six to eight hours every day.

It's been that way for many years.

The music playing process can always be a little bit better,

a little bit sharper,

a little bit more exciting or a little bit more moving.

You seem to just split hairs

and it seems to get just refined a little bit more,

so it's a very addictive process for me

because the ability to really go from the heart to the fingertips

or the head to the fingertips,

it is truly exciting.

(PLAYS ROCK MELODY)

If you can make an instrument sing and actually connect with people,

that gives the guitarist and the song a different personality.

How can you create a voice with an instrument?

Like, that's magical.

That's something really, really interesting,

you know, when you hear, like, some of those Eddie Van Halen solos.

(PLAYS ROCK MELODY)

It's like, this guy's unleashing

and you can hear his stank and his attitude.

If you can pull that off correctly, I think that's why people love it.

MAN: A good soloist, I think, has to be a natural leader of sorts

because you're standing in front of the orchestra.

(PLAYS DRAMATIC CLASSICAL MUSIC)

Communication is probably the key to being just a great musician

regardless of whether you're a soloist or a chamber musician.

It kind of works like two people in a relationship

expressing their ideas within the music.

Look, I'm not going to be a violin or piano virtuoso overnight,

so I actually want to explore a different type of solo,

and that is freestyle rapping.

Yes. Yeah.

He knows it.

# It's a freestyle off top of the dome

# Big boy, city, you know, my home... #

In hip-hop, the most important and powerful instrument

isn't the turntable or drum machine -

it's language.

And the heart of freestyle rap

is wielding this power with unbelievable ability.

# I write backwards, the lies scatter

# I decode them as I practise... #

# Body-bag her now, she won't make it through the week

# And if you're scared, go to church

# But you should've been a deacon... #

Improvised, fast and cutting,

this lyrical athleticism makes for vocalised solos just as mesmerising

as anything Jimi Hendrix ever lay down.

And direct from Sydney, Kwame is going to show me how it's done.

1...2...

1, 2, 3...

OK, look.

# Came in the ABC, lights, camera, action like one, two, three... #

(GIGGLES) # And I'm with Linda...

# Hmm

# Swipe right Tinder, hmm... # Oh!

# Came through clean with the drip that I spit

# Lyrical whiz, nobody do it like... #

This. Yeah!

(LAUGHS)

I feel like people get excited about rap because of

the diversity that comes with it,

I think the wordplay.

Definitely, like, the beats as well,

because it's, like, it's all about rhythm

and, like, what gets you moving.

# Wake up in the morning, who do I see in the mirror?

# Got the message, so depressing, it just really made my heart cry

# How we keep depending on the people we forgiving?

# Bow my head, connect with heaven, in my dreams I'm seeing God's eye

# Momma in the kitchen whipping Sunday church chicken

# You can check this out, we'll show you how we living... #

I feel like rap doesn't have any boundaries,

so anything can come within to it.

I think that's what people really gravitate towards too,

and find interesting.

Yeah, I feel like you can't throw away how nerdy rappers are...

Yeah. ..in terms of language...

Yeah, you can't.

By using alliteration or using cadence.

Yeah.

Tell me a little bit about that and those parts that make it up.

For example, if I was to be rapping in, like, a tripler flow...

Da-da-da, da-da-da, DA, da-da-da, da-da-da, DA.

So, like, that kind of stuff. OK, yeah.

Ghostface Killah, I think,

he was talking about the stop-start kind of flow

that Skepta used in Praise The Lord, where he's like...

All the hook is like, # I came, da-DA, da-DA, da-DA... #

# I came, I saw, I praised the Lord

# And break the law

# I take what's mine... #

It really helps get across to people because they're remembering that.

So you can start, like, almost mumbling it.

From you mumbling it, it then translates into the words

and you remember that because of the rhythm and how it caught you.

What's on your mind right now? I was thinking about you being tall.

Tall. OK, cool, cool, cool. OK.

Have we got...we got the beat?

# He's tall, but not too tall... # Uh-huh.

# I might swipe and then I'll fall

# In love with a man on an app

# And then I'll need to have a nap

# 'Cause he bores me on my date

# On a Tuesday night Tuesday...

# I can't rate him high enough.

Friday. # It's Friday... #

OK. Well, let's talk about freestyling a bit.

How does it work?

I think in general, freestyling is more so about writing,

like, free form.

So, without a subject matter,

mostly freestyling was rapping about how good you were

off the top, which is, like... Yeah, OK.

..slaying for, like, just, like, whatever you...

Top of my head. Yeah, top of my head.

Like, whatever you see, you just rap about.

Whenever I'm writing, like, a track,

I'm in the studio and then, like, I've got the beat then,

I'm just, like, trying to figure out the flow, I'll just be, like...

(HUMS)

Like, I'll just be, like, looking at someone being like...

Yeah, yeah! (LAUGHS)

And they'll be like, yeah, yeah!

And then, like, I might say just one word where, like,

# Uh, like, I'm at ABC... #

(HUMS)

OK, yeah, then, like, I'll write that down

and I'm, like, OK, how can I expand from that?

# But even if we fall out, we gon' turn it all round

# Feed the people our sound, grab somebody,

# Tell 'em that you love 'em, put your heads together

# Miscommunication be the reason you ain't listening

# Coulda asked me how I'm feeling right now

# Round and round, my trisk is spun Like it's a merry-go

# I'm heavy dough, getting money like Homer Simpson,

# D'oh

# And I could never trust a groupie, no. #

How can I get better? Give me some tips.

Like, what words should I be thinking about?

What can help me, like, spark things?

I dunno. Maybe, like, look at something here.

So, like, I see a wheel.

OK, cool.

You look at that, but then what...

What else does a wheel kind of give you?

Like, OK, you're driving,

you're moving somewhere, you're going places.

OK. You know what I mean?

Like, something like that.

# Wheel gives me action Oh, OK!

# A reaction Yep.

# I got serious satisfaction Uh-huh.

# I'm working, working too hard

Ooh.

# Got a bit of a sweaty thing going on... #

Yep. (LAUGHS)

(LAUGHS)

But, like, that was cool, though.

How do you get through a block if you don't have any ideas?

Don't try to force it because

you're gonna be doubting yourself each time.

"This isn't good, this isn't good."

Like, you start questioning everything that you do.

So, I think definitely just, like, taking a break, go for a walk,

listen to other music, take five, whatever it is you need,

and then come back in with a different mindset,

like, just fresh thoughts and, cool, back into it.

# My headphones snapped at a DJ gig,

# I was looking at a guy, not at his rig...

No. # He was dancing

# I was feeling the flow

# And then I had to run out... and go. #

Whoo-hoo! Whoo!

Oh.

(LAUGHS) Yeah!

On a scale of not getting goose bumps

to me dramatically failing at dancing,

where would you place that?

Ah, OK, not as uncomfortable as you failing at dancing,

but definitely towards that spectrum,

probably like a 7 out of 10.

It's such a multitask in your brain, because Kwame's so good as well,

but you're thinking about the beat,

you're thinking about what words you're going to use

and the ideas that you're forming.

You want to sound cool,

so you want to have cool ideas and sentences.

You're thinking about your vocab as well.

And I think, honestly,

it just comes down to having a bit of talent, but practising.

Yeah, I think a lot of people think the virtuosos are just born,

but there's so much effort and time that goes into it.

Yeah.

It pays off because we love watching these talented freaks of nature

do their thang!

Mmm!
