Step 1: Follow The Steps - s1e232 - Duration: 16:09.
Good morning. See ,it's better than saying alright… Welcome to this episode. I'm
Bill Snodgrass and what we're gonna look at today is the necessity of putting in the
the work to go through the steps properly to get to the outcome that
you're trying to get to. The context of this is we're doing lab today. We're
doing lab this week. We're doing… we've done so much what we would call scaffolding
of skills and knowledge and fundamentals. Now it's time to put some of that into
operation where they're going to weigh the… They're actually going to weigh how much
carbon dioxide was produced by subtraction… oh yeah… It's a good lab so
they produce carbon dioxide and the carbon dioxide escapes and what's left behind is
not carbon dioxide and the difference in the mass… It's a good lab. It's real
simple and and it's safe. But there's a lot of steps! And… and that's the context
that we're going to go through in this in this episode. You have got to put in
the steps. Now this is not a science at video. I'm not making a sci— I made the
science video actually. It's up here somewh… I'll put it up here. Boom! There! Go… go…
watch the virtual lab if you if you would like to know what I'm talking
about the carbon dioxide but if you're not in the science at all you want to be
successful in what you do in life then the route this video is of is for you
we're gonna be talking about you have to go through the steps to get from where
you are to where you want to be so so that's that's what this video is about
oh my goodness it was 22 degrees coming in just in case you're checking the
weather and that all this it's like almost flurries it's it's it's so cold
so here's why we take physics and science and chemistry so as the
temperature goes down the space between the molecules decreases in the room for
water vapor to exist between the air and gas molecules become smaller and smaller
until the vapor you know crystallizes into a snowflake and falls and that's
what was happening it was that it had gone from what was it 33 degrees to 22
degrees and just squeeze that last few drops of moisture out of the air and
literally it is squeezing because the molecules get closer together it was it
was snowing kind of not like you know you're gonna have to shovel that I
welcome you to the episode let's have a great day I'll see you in the next
segment Amazon just just so you might know I am NOT in the market for a tiny
little you know point shoot camera bag I don't know why you keep suggesting that
I buy one unless you know something that I don't know which is possible and
probable but as far as I know you can just stop showing me the little tiny you
know clutch purse sized camera bags for the point and shoot that I don't own
that's all
okay I have moved over to the science desk I want to set up the science lab
after you know coffee time is over so I wanna I want to just make a quick
reference back to the channel thank you for all the people who've been watching
the winter wonderland spoken-word cover that did really well
the first day you know relative to to what things on my channel usually do so
big thanks to all of you who have watched that what did I just do to my
face Wow now now look like somebody punched me I suppose one things I've
noticed and I've been saying this for a while is that my photography videos have
a lot of evergreen quality there's a lot of people go back and watch the
photography tutorials and there's always an end with me isn't there the one of
the most popular ones is a plugin called portrait Pro and they just released a
new version and I just down I just upgraded to the new version version 18
of portrait Pro so you can be watching for them to a quick start guide I'm
gonna try to do like this is a great program
I'm do a quick start guide so that people who may have also just bought it
for the first time the upgrade people will know how to use it but if you've
just now bought it more on that later what else five hundred I mentioned that
and I always figure like the next day I'm gonna come back and it's gonna be
like you know four hundred fifty but no thank you all all five hundred of you
who are still subscribed thank you spread the word it would be kind of cool
to continue to grow what else what other kind of nonsense let's get back to the
point of the episode the point of the episode so to be successful I'm arguing
that you you have to follow the steps carefully and completely whatever
the steps maybe here's here's the first challenge with this this argument the
first challenge is do you know what the steps are
has anyone identified these are the steps to being successful at this thing
that you're trying to be successful at there's a lot of things where I would
say darn oh there are no the steps there are lots of different the steps that got
different people to where they are you want to be a you want to be a famous pop
singer who wouldn't want that a lot of different ways Disney Channel if you can
be on the Disney Channel and be one of the kids who sings on the Disney Channel
that seems to be one of the ways that a lot of people I don't know if everybody
on Disney Channel becomes famous but a lot of people on
Disney Channel make it but then there's other people who like like if I
understand the story correctly Justin Bieber was like a YouTube dude and got
discovered via YouTube so those completely different completely
different methods so step one in in in being successful you can't follow the
steps if you don't know what the steps are so you're gonna have to do research
you're gonna have to do background research to figure out what is a success
strategy for whatever it is that you're trying to be successful at if you're
into sales if you're in sales I know from people who are successful
salespeople they have told me that learning their clients name and learning
about them personally rather than just having you know a phone number and an
account number knowing a little bit about it was the birthday what kind of
dog do they have those are elements of success so if you're going to be
successful in sales using those those steps you've got to put the work in to
do that and there are there are systems called CMS's
I am I think its client management system or contact management system CMS
is that you can use to keep up with a lot of information sending a birthday
card those sorts of things remembering own little details about the
person's life will go along right now this is not about neither is this about
air molecules science or sales it's about following steps in the science
activity there are set specific steps that you must follow if you're gonna try
to put a piece of that prefab furniture together you need to follow the steps I
built something once I miss the step it was like it was like one line it was
like you know here's a section here's a section and there's this little section
and here's a section and that section I missed was something like turn it over
and put the knobby thing somewhere because if you didn't do it then you
couldn't do it you couldn't go you had to unassembled you go back to whatever
it was I remember getting your like the step 11 and going what oh I gotta go
back to step 4 I missed it so following those steps
very detailed steps follow them all right I'm gonna step myself over here
and get set up for this lab I'll let you kind of watch that happen
we are set it's more the comment that the the time-lapse i am i used this
wide-angle lens from that newark it i did the did the little lens comparison
thing video sounds gonna use them some more and I did so this was with the
wide-angle it it seems to have pretty good optical quality and it just kind of
got enough selective I am all set for today
wait now I'm all set I'm ready ready -
alright we are we're gonna make some carbon dioxide today our contribution to
the greenhouse gases just a little bit
I so so lunchtime is it has arrived at got crackers and have some raisins today
and a granola bar just in case you wanted you know to know what I was
having for lunch also you know snow all that so the following directions there
may not be a single path that if you do this you will succeed but sometimes
there is and in in the the challenge I feel like for the 21st century when we
are so accustomed to instant access to everything you know instant this and
curing that and popcorn in the microwave and everything is is in our you know
everything we want to know is in their palm of our hands literally who wants to
do the ground work who wants to do the early-stage research she wants to to
build a community of potential buyers from potential clients who want no one
no one wants to do those preliminary steps and if you don't then your access
to success is going to be highly limited you've got to put in those preliminary
pieces of the process whatever that is there's there's a principle called the
10,000 hour principle and a lot of musicians will subscribe to this and
then that the idea is if you want to be good at your thing it's not
instantaneous it's not overnight you have to go through the process of 10,000
hours of practice and study and plane you know it's a small coffee shop before
you play the big coffee shop before you play and eventually you know you build
that you build that client size up you build that venue size up so if you're a
musician you start small and you work your way up you put in the time and the
effort encounter someone not long ago which wanted to do the YouTube thing and
society Coleman and his response was because well I made two videos and put
them up on YouTube and I only got like 10 to use told I said and then what did
you do and his answer was he stopped
you didn't want to do the work to promote the videos he didn't want to
tell his friends about and asked his friends to watch he didn't want to post
it on Facebook or post it on Twitter he didn't want to do the things he had to
do in order to see success he thought he could just throw a couple videos up
there and you know become successful of students obviously who don't want to put
the work in necessary to build the skills lead to the ability to do the
assignment to get to work done if you don't want to put the work in the
groundwork in you'll never be able to reap the rewards yeah you got a plow the
ground you've got to fertilize the soil you've
got to plant the seeds you've got a tin the crops and keep the weeds out and
make sure that you're growing the plants that you want to grow and you have to do
that all summer long before you can reap the harvest before you can harvest the
produce all of those things have to happen all right
do the work the first step is to follow the steps I don't know something like
that thank you for watching I hope this episode was interesting I hope you maybe
learn something please share this video with someone else click the like button
subscribe the channel sign up for notifications I do not know what that
gesture is I don't know I may I'm trying to land in the airplane or something see
you the next episode
all right I have that's kind of wobbly

TRYING TO FOLLOW ANGELA BRIGHT`S MAKEUP TUTORIAL AND ALMOST LOSING AN EYE - Duration: 6:58.
Oh my god, this is so weird! not afraid
It's impossible!
Always thought that the skill to put on makeup on yourself is some of women are born with
I kind of think it's not anymore
Look at this. I mean, do you really need 35 different brushes?
This is not even a professional palette - Kit
This is not even a professional KIT. I mean how hard can it be?
People do it every day!
Let's see what we got!
A bunch of brushes
I mean from what I've seen you only have two eyes
two eyebrows
Eyelashes. I don't know. Let's say eyelashes. I .. Why?
Okay, so a bunch of different brushes for whatever reason (this one's pretty)
This one's a double! something that looks like it's made to torture people
But it's not very effective, I wouldn't tell you anything
You can enlarge your breasts at home
But I don't know how.. and it seems like we are ready.
So today we're following a makeup tutorial on
Fenty Beauty
Get Moroccan spice eyeshadow palette. In this video I also tried out the fly liner as well
So if you want to see how I got this look and my opinion on the new palette and eyeliner Go ahead and keep on watching..
By the way. This is my first ever ever ever
Time to do any kind of makeup. I'm gonna take quicksand
quicksand
What am I gonna take?
- She`s naming the brush, but we don`t have it.. so pick another brush
It's already so hard I haven't even done anything. Oh my god
Which one
this one
okay, eye shadow
I forgot what it is - quicksand - quicksand!
You see I`m getting professional help because this is impossible.
I want to quit already and I don't like quitting things, but
I mean, come on!!!
Sahara Star
evil genie
Which one?
- You have to keep your eyes open!
Let's make it closer, this is already so hard.. Can you bring it closer here?
This is so weird, I'm gonna take a darker pink one the one right below
in the corner of my e ye
Don't understand how people do it. No, I'm not trying to make this funny
actually I'm trying to make it work, but this is so weird
- doesn't work if your eyes are closed!
Gonna connect the shades. I'm gonna build out the color even more
Do you have to open your mouth when you do it
Don't think it's very hard.. so I'm gonna go back to my fluffy brush and I'm gonna blend out what's ready on my eye
- Don`t you have respect for these people?
Have so much newfound respect for these people
I took a little bit of concealer and I'm gonna put in the middle of my eye to give it a halo effect
This is not easy
So I'm gonna take gold and I'm gonna put it over concealer it's a really pretty color
I'm gonna take quicksand again and I'm gonna use it on my lower lash line
whoo, I'm good at it
my eye looks scary, but I'm good
I'm gonna take a little come and get it and I'm gonna edit
I'm just gonna do what she says
Think we're doing great
So I'm taking purple and adding it to the corners but a tiny amount
Gorgeous
this is a liquid eyeliner Holy Sh%t it's sharp!
Do not try it at home. Leave it to professionals
Kinda not bad, huh?
So now I have to connect it down to my eye
wow, this is not as easy as it looks
Okay, so now we're just fill it in a little bit
okay, this might not be my greatest work, but
It's not as hard as I thought.. this is scary
I don't know how she did it.
It is time! This does not look like people should be using it next to their faces
Put your eyelashes in there
Yeah, almost almost almost not squeeze good
Good good
Your eyelashes are not even in there.. good.. again..no, no no no.. squeezed
It's scary, but I squeezed
Did anything change?
Not afraid anymore
Mascara!
Wow
Okay
Something is wrong, I blame the brushes, brushes are
definitely just
Not good, brushes are not good
We've been doing this for over half an hour
I was getting help on which brush to use and I was watching how to do it
exactly, and this is what we have and
This is what people do every goddamn day
Before they go to work. I'm getting help with the eyeliner because this is impossible!
Cannot even see what's being done to me right now
All right. Actually, I don't love what I did but it's obviously better than this
We're gonna go have lunch right now I'm gonna go like this and ask people which one is actually better
as predicted
obviously I won
Anyway, get out of your comfort zone today do something new
You never know what it's gonna lead to, at least and going to be fun
Maybe maybe not for you, but for others
I'm so good! next time I'm gonna do the whole face
As an actor I get made up all the time and I thought it always looks so easy
Guys, it's not I have a newfound respect for women
dang

Richard Wolff talks with Rita Enteen, editor of the book "Follow The Money" - Duration: 3:37.
The last page is the poem by Marge Piercy, 1973, "To be of use". Since I was
raised a socialist, and I certainly see the problems in this world, my life is
really to be of use. We need to be of use. In terms of how the book evolved I have
been an avid listener of Pacifica since I grew up in New York with WBAI, KPFA in
California. "Flashpoints" is an excellent daily investigative show. Dennis
Bernstein is an excellent inter viewer. He was asking for people to transcribe his
interviews and I volunteered. He then asked me to edit a book of his interviews
which became a five-year project Was there a particular part of his interview
style or what he did that captured your
interest and desire to do this? Well certainly the politics. He is left and
there's less and less of real deep analysis from the left. He also, I think,
is the best of the interviews genre. It's candid, it's fresh, it's colloquial and he
brings the best out in people. I am a true lover now of the interview genre.
There's something fresh and honest about it. It's not pre-recorded you're just
doing it at the moment. So it was an honor that he asked me to edit a book of
his interviews because they are very very thought-provoking. Good and it gives
you a sense of this experience that we're having right now which is another one.
Okay, give us your sense of some of the highlights. What were some of the
programs that Dennis did that you have also put in this book that you think are
the best in some sense of what was done. A little bit more about the
interviews genre, again, he brings out the best in people so I got many, many
interviews to work with and it broke down into nine subject areas which
include surveillance, class, race, gender, imperialism, immigration, Palestine, and
ends with the planet, because frankly if we don't have a planet there's really
nothing left. Because it was such a long project
it came out under Trump. There are 66 interviews. The book came out under Trump
but all 66 interviews happened under Obama, our first black president who
offered hope and change and really didn't deliver. So I call the book both a
reality check on Obama, who is becoming sanitized, and
the writing on the wall for how we got here. So I could give you a few little
excerpts from some of my favorite interviews. Be my guest. A little excerpts and again
let's remember these were all under Obama. Okay,
Mara Verheyden-Hilliard who is an attorney with partnership for civil
justice: "The Tea Party was having rallies across the U.S. where they were openly
carrying weapons. Some rallies were outside where the President of the US
was speaking but what does the FBI do? They are going after the non-violent,
peaceful Occupy movement" Okay, Shahid Buttar, First Amendment Coalition:"The
Obama administration is already our nation's far and away most aggressive
anti-press administration. More national security whistleblowers face prosecution
in the last five years than in the entire preceding 225 year
history of the Republic.

The Duchess of Sussex' mother, Doria Ragland, has been invited by the monarch to spend three days at Sandringham House, the Queen's residence in Norfolk. This invite represents a display of affection to Meghan, who joined the Royal Family marrying Prince Harry on May 19, royal insiders suggested. However, the festive period won't be a simple holiday, as it is jam-packed with royal rules to abide by and a busy schedule to follow.
Starting upon her arrival at the palace on Christmas Eve, Ms Ragland's British break will be filled with funny presents, afternoon teas and voluptuous meals.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine told Grazia magazine what Ms Ragland can expect.
She said: "After her luggage is unloaded, there will be a present-giving ceremony after tea.

"There are mainly useful things, such as homemade jams, china or curios bought from county fairs."
Meghan Markle's mum will spend her Christmas at Sandringham House
Despite the moment will be cheerful, with anything but pricey gifts to be exchanged, the presents are to be opened according to the royal ranks.
To start her first Sandringham celebration with a bang, last year Meghan gave the Queen a singing hamster.
And her husband Prince Harry is said to have once given his grandmother a shower cap reading "Ain't life a bi".
Ms Seward continued: "Then it will be lethal martinis and a black-tie dinner.
The Queen's speech is broadcasted on Christmas Day
"There's a really careful old-fashioned placement. It's always boy-girl, boy-girl."
The royal expert added the seating chart is planned by the Queen herself.
On Christmas Day, royals will head to church for the 11am service and later return to the castle for a traditional lunch featuring turkey and Christmas crackers.
The signature paper hats included in the crackers are expected to be worn by everyone but the Queen.
The day will proceed with a "brisk walk" taking place after the Queen's televised speech, aimed at "making room for more food".

Meghan Markle's mum Doria Ragland could be on her way to move to the UK
Royal guests will then be invited to take part to a Christmas tea followed by a short nap or resting period.
The day will end in another luxurious meal.
Leaving guests with full stomachs is as important for the Queen as for any other good hostess, and to make sure this happens she follows a decades-old royal custom, according to Ms Seward.
The expert said the guests are traditionally weighed on antique scales as they arrive to the royal palace and shortly before they leave, to check if they gain some kilos during their stay.
This habit was started under King Edward VII's kingdom, as the monarch was known for his appetite and wanted to make sure his guests were "well fed".
