hi guys welcome back to my channel my name is Moni from PTE magic
Today's quick video will be dedicated to all current IELTS test takers who are very
curious about the main differences between Pte and IELTS
to help you to make a wiser choice in terms of which one is easier or which
one is better I'm going to go through some comparison
of both tests but before I do that please don't forget to click subscribe button
at the bottom so that you can stay updated for more videos about PTE Tips &
Tricks on the one hand PTE is accepted by thousands of different universities
worldwide including putable one like Harvard Business School as well as
accepted for the visa purposes in Australia and New Zealand
IELTS is accepted for both study and migration by many english-speaking
countries including UK the US Canada Australia and New Zealand obviously in
this case IELTS is the winner because it opens the door to so many different opportunities
however if you you know pathway it's just about getting your visa in
Australia of study in Australia or New Zealand then PTE will be a good option too
PTE is a computerized tests so you'll be doing the test with a headset as well as
typing on the keyboard, IELTS on the other hand is a standard pen and paper
based exam
Recently IELTS also offers the computer option
in terms of fees are
both are quite similar in most countries like in Australia its $340 in some countries
like Vietnam PTE is cheaper which is only 165 US dollars
The total time for both tests is around 3 hours both of them contain 4 modules which are
listening reading speaking and writing in IELTS listening reading and writing
are conducted in one sitting for speaking it's normally on the same day
or otherwise it might be scheduled after 7 days prior or after the other test
meanwhile in PTE all the 4 modules are conducted in one sitting on the same
day
normally IELTS test dates are offered four times
in a month making a total of 48 fixed test dates in one year but in PTE as I
mentioned in my previous video you can actually do it pretty much every day in
some test centres, you have choice to book from Monday to Sunday and
also the different timings that you can do in the morning afternoon or evening
this is very helpful for those who are not early birds
IELTS you can preview result 13 days after the test and the result will remain online for 28 days
In PTE the result comes within 5 business days and in some cases it might
be available on the same day
in terms of scoring IELTS has a band range from 0
to 9, while PTE it is from 10 to 90
in IELTS there will be a trained and experienced
examiner who will be conducting a face-to-face interview speaking section
and also in writing there will be an examiner who will be actually reading
your essays and giving a score for that, on the other hand assessment for PTE is
automated and it's done by your computer which means that there will be no
examiner actually physically reading your answers or listening to your
speaking or checking analyzing your writing it will be done 100% by our
computer a lot of people actually prefer these options because all the PTE tests
are marked by one software which means that there will be less chance of bias
in IELTS all the modules are assessed separately so you're getting separated
scores for listening reading writing and speaking and they're not related to each
other but in petite they are into language means that by doing one section
you can also receive the score for the other one for example if you do speaking
part you can also receive score in listening and meeting
these are the different nature of both tests some people find IELTS easier and
some people prefer to do Pte
if you're stressed or nervous to talk to an actual
examiner or if you feel scared or when someone is marking your essay you can go
for PTE because there's no physical interaction and its just you and the
computer, and the computer will assess your performance during and after the
test another very interesting point is that many IELTS test takers find the
writing models the most challenging and the one that is the hardest to get 8
or 9 but if we look at PTE there is a higher number of students who are able
to get 90 out of 90 in writing
just remember that both of them are standard
English proficiency tests and were designed by the most experienced and
knowledgeable experts in the field
at the end of the day you're the one who is
making decision and the decision should be based on different factors including
your deadlines, your background, your target, so for instance if you have a
weak background you can go for IELTS first but if you need above an 8.0, PTE might be a
wise option for you
I hope this video was helpful and I will be uploading more
videos about PTE and IELTS so please don't forget to click
