I remember growing up in a very small town.
There were not much opportunities and I certainly wasnt wealthy enough.
So I figured out a solution and I said You know what, I cant do all the things I want
to do right now but when things get better, thats when I will start doing everything.
So, for now, I will just wait for things to get better.
Thats literally how I spent my first 17 years of life until I got into an Engineering
College and I said Finally!
I am going to get some good quality education and things will get better for me.
I will have lots and lots of opportunities and I will do everything that I want to do.
I joined college only to discover that I have lesser time now and I am all caught up with
my assignments and tests.
My brain again came up with a great solution to this and I said-Hey, I am gonna wait, yea,
I am gonna wait as its just a matter of 4 years and once I am done with my graduation,
I can have a dream job and can live my life in the way I want.
I will do things which I always wanted to do
And guess what, I ended up getting a technical job in a Multi National Company.
I was happy the day I joined the company.
But within a few days, I realized that I am stuck in this 9-5 life and barely had time
even to manage my relationships, let alone doing stuffs which I always wanted to do.
I became a company slave, working day and night, 5 days a week, more than 10 hours a
day, waiting for weekends and getting sad every Sunday night as I have to report back
on Monday Morning.
My salary was less for the kind of effort I was putting in and my savings were negligible.
I was frustrated with my life.
I was getting depressed.
Nothing was getting right and I was sinking low.
And thats the time my brain came up with greatest ever idea I will change my
job!! I started preparing for different job interviews,
I started reading technical books hoping to get out of this corporate jail just to land
myself into another, a bigger and more spacious jail.
I got into habit of reading technical stuffs all the time and thats when something happened
which literally changed my life.
Just for the change of mood, I started reading some books which were based mostly on how
to improve oneself.
I found them interesting and started reading more.
I came across many books and thats when I realized that with all these great ideas
that my brain keeps giving me, I will end up dying before I did any of things which
I want to.
So the first not so great idea is to Stop hoping for completion of anything in life.
If you are not doing it right now, then make an instant realisation that probably you are
not going to do it ever.
Always remember, if you dont do it, someone else will and later you will only regret for
not having that little courage which was required to do what you wanted to.
Now the 2nd idea is to dont get lost in task and duties and for me, this is one of
the biggest take away.
Most of us are too much into our jobs.
We work overtime, we make sure our managers are happy, our teammates are happy and our
client is happy.
We completely ignore our personal life, our relationships and everything else which is
much more important.
So lets suppose one morning you wake up only to find that you are infected with some
disease.
Your family will instantly visit you and will take good care of you.
They will do all they can so that you recover soon.
But will you get a visit or even a call from your manager, or your client or your colleagues?
Mostly not!
So if you are dying, then, is that what you are going to say that you really were a very
good person as you made your client happy, your manager happy and your colleagues happy?
You didnt do anything which would make you happy or make those people happy who really
are close to you but all you did was making those people happy who wont even visit
on your funeral.
So is that what you are going to say or is it going to be something like I pursued my
purpose.
I was happy and I made my wife, my parents and my kids happy.
So, lemme repeat it again, make sure you are not lost in task and duties.
They have a weird way of seeming like you couldnt do without them but trust me, you
can.
Minimize your time and effort on those things and maximize your time and devotion on something
you really wanna pursue.
Now the third idea is to be willing to change everything in your life.
Change is something which is inevitable.
You might be having a high profile job right now but you cant guarantee that you will
be having it tomorrow.
So, do things in such a way that no matter what changes for you tomorrow, you will have
the knowledge and power to get back to where you left.
You must be immune to change.
Work on yourself and make yourself capable enough so that even if everything is taken,
you will have the right knowledge and power to recreate it all over again.
Fourth idea is to live as if you are all alone in this world.
Now when I say this, you might say that we have so many people to care about and stuffs.
I am not asking you to cut-off or stop caring about them, but all I am asking is to get
independent.
When you were a kid, people might have told you that you can be a doctor, you can be an
engineer but once you grow up, its you who can decide best for yourself.
Yes, our parents try to show us the right path according to what they feel is best for
us, so they might tell you to opt for engineering or medical but ask yourself if thats the
thing you wanna do?
Listen to everyone, respect their opinions but do what you want to do.
Theres no right or wrong time for taking up a task you love.
When it comes to making decisions for yourself, be brave enough to stand alone and take a
decision.
Now, some of us are not really sure about our purpose.
We are always confused.
I was always confused.
I didnt know what I wanted to do until I started working 9-5 and came to know that
this is one thing that I certainly dont wanna do.
So, this brings me to the 5th idea and that is be sure about your purpose.
If you dont know it, discover it now.
Its kind of like when you were a kid, you watched a warrior trying to conquer something,
or trying to save someone or trying to liberate.
Thats the purpose of life, thats what you are attracted to.
You didnt watch people working 9-5, coming back, watching TV, sleeping and repeating
the same.
So, in order to liberate, I started reading books and made a plan for what I wanna do
with my life and how I am gonna approach it.
I dont have enough capital to kick start a big business or to just leave my job and
survive but what I do have is a purpose and a burning desire to do things I want to.
Earlier I used to not get time to talk to my family.
I used to play the blame game, blaming my hectic job for everything bad that was happening.
Now, not only I manage my relationships well, but I also make YouTube videos to help out
people who are going through the same I went through.
I work 9-5, I make 2-3 animated videos every week, I am working on my online business and
I am able to manage my relationships well.
Now, I am not at all bragging by any means here.
I have not yet succeeded enough to project myself as an example but what I am trying
to say is if I can, why cant you?
Even you can identify your purpose, work for it irrespective of your hectic college or
work schedule.
Trust me, it will only make you happier.
You will feel happy seeing yourself growing every passing day.
If ever you feel that its quite difficult to find a purpose, just ask yourself this
question, what would you do if you had all the money and all the time in this world?
Are you doing it right now or are you just waiting for all the money and time to come?
Because if you are still waiting, you might keep waiting for it lifetime and it wont
ever come.
So, wake up from your slumber and start working for things you wanna achieve in your life.
You can do anything and its only you who can make you happy.
Choose wisely.
