so now we're going to get into the Word of God because that is why we are here
and this morning we're going to be reading from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 12
verses 46 through 50 and as you all turn there I will ask all who are able to
please stand for the reading of God's Word
again the book of Matthew chapter 12 verses 46 through 50 and the Word of God
reads while He speaking of Jesus was still talking to the multitudes behold
His mother and brothers stood outside seeking to speak with Him then one said
to Him look your mother and your brothers are standing outside seeking to
speak with you verse 48 but He answered and said to the one who told Him who is
my mother and who are my brothers and He stretched out His hand toward His
disciples and said here are my mother and my brothers and verse 50 for whoever
does the will of my Father in heaven is my mother and sister excuse me my
brother and sister and mother so let's pray loving heavenly Father it is
impossible to speak your word of truth without the power of your Holy Spirit I
pray that you would descend your Holy Spirit upon this sanctuary as your words
are spoken and I pray that all emotion and feelings are set aside to allow your
truth to penetrate our ears hearts and our souls and break down all strongholds
that often keep us captive from hearing your truth and may your truth be spoken
boldly by the power of your mind I pray that you would go before me now
in the mighty name of Yeshua Jesus the Christ we pray amen
please be seated so the title for today's message is the will of my father
this is a statement to me that has caused so much debate and discussion
regarding the will of God but part of the problem as I see it is that we're
not specific enough when we begin to discuss God in His will and what I mean
is that God not only has His will but God also has the works of His will and
then we should also consider that God's will will be done which is another
aspect of God's will in itself and then we have us as man knowing God's will and
proving that will is captured in the book of Romans chapter 12 in verse 2 in
addition to this we have the concept of not my will but the Lord's will and also
we have that doing of God's will such as being servants of Christ doing the will
of God from the heart as captured in the book of Ephesians chapter 6 in verse 6
so if this broad aspect of God's will is not understood to some degree then what
happens in most cases regarding the question comes a list of demands or
commands that are unachievable because we fail to understand the sequence of
the will of the Father
and in order for us to truly understand this primary or should I say ultimate
will of the Father we need to look no further than the Words of the Son and
once we do this deliberately what happens is we obtain a complete picture
of what this means to each of us and then we are able to allow this perfect
will of the Father to be acted out in our lives and again this will cannot be
accomplished of our own strength it must be by the power of the Holy Spirit of
God that demonstrates that each one of us are of God and before anyone
speculates let's be clear this is not works on our part of the flesh there are
no works that we can do in any way that will align us to God's will
but when God's ultimate will is accomplished
His works come through each and every one of us and these verses that we have
read what we have as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ performing an aspect of the
will of the Father who sent Him for he had a purpose to send Him Jesus we have
to remind ourselves was and always will be in alignment with God's perfect will
from eternity to eternity our Lord has always been aligned in in tune with the
will of the true and living God because they have always been one but we not so
much we have not always been in the will of God we haven't been and because of
that there's no direct works that can come from us absent compliant to that
ultimate will of the Father because anything that we do of ourselves will
never bring God the glory and honor that He is due and this concept is going to
be explained and it is not as complex as it sounds it is child-like simple
so with the Lord's permission what we will prayerfully see in these verses
among other things is the demonstration of the importance of remaining steadfast
when it comes to the performing of the service of the Lord and then we're going
to examine how our needs and or should I say our will and perception were never
outweigh God's will nor his works in progress with that we're gonna define
and describe what the family of God looks like which will bring us to the
ultimate will of God that places us all in that perfect family of God allowing
every aspect of His will to be performed so now before we get into our text and
as always I like to do I want to put these verses in their proper context by
briefly explaining what was happening prior to Jesus saying these words so
with that said what we have earlier in Chapter 12 Jesus would be confronted by
the Pharisees because of Him and His disciples plucking and eating the corn
on the Sabbath day Jesus would provide them being the Pharisees with a brief
history lesson regarding King David and when he had eaten the showbread inside
of the house of God that was only meant for the priest Jesus would go on to
inform them and let them know that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath
now this statement like with many in the Bible that Jesus makes is a bold
statement indeed and I want us to take notice of what the Lord says regarding
the seventh now it's captured in verse 8 of chapter 12 and excuse the next slide
because I mislabeled it but it is verse 8 of chapter 12 this is what the Lord
says for the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath
Jesus does not say the Son of God but the Son of Man so what's being implied
here is that as a man in His humanity His decision to do what was needed
justified his actions regardless of the Sabbath and that's important to know
because adhering to the rules of keeping the Sabbath was not the immediate need
for His disciples they were hungry and as Christians we can learn from this
it's a valuable lesson and I did not want this to pass by because far too
often do we become dogmatic about something worship days of this that and
the third it's a mess we become dogmatic while forgetting the true needs of the
flock
because when the flock is cared for properly then that service that's
provided for the Lord reflects in the way that we praise the way do we worship
the way that we hear and more importantly heed the Word of God and I
love that lesson that the Lord has taught us and we should heed to it
moving on with what's going on prior to Him speaking those words He would
continue to talk about the Sabbath and then He would heal a man and their
synagogue leaving the Pharisees furious which is mind boggling within itself so
much so that they gathered together and took counsel to figure out a way to
destroy Jesus but of course our Lord knowing all things He removed Himself
and they say that crowds followed Him and this is where that term great
multitudes come in but it does not provide the justice that Jesus Christ
deserves regarding what that means and what He did next the Bible tells us that
Jesus healed all of them and that number was massive consider this in the book of
Mark regarding this same account it says that
the crowds were not only from Galilee but also from Judea Jerusalem
Idumea Tyre and Sidon indicating that people would travel hundreds of
miles also indicating how fast the Word spread without the internet think of it
and they were coming to hear Him and be healed by Him because of what they heard
now we can only imagine the type of sickness that was within this multitude
of people including those possessed by devils like the man in verse 22 blind
dumb and possessed and he was completely healed now after all of this the
Pharisees would call Jesus that devil himself saying that all those works He
was doing was from the devil and then Jesus of course would rebuke them and
also discuss the unpardonable sin blaspheming the Holy Spirit and then He
would tell us all that we will all have to answer for every idle word in the day
of judgment now remember Jesus had this multitude of people a bunch of them
teaching in Hillen casting out demons the timeline for this would have been
massive and all those works irrefutable undeniable but it did not seem to
satisfy all of them especially the leadership religious leaders of that day
because of amazingly after all of this the Pharisees and scribes would ask
Jesus for a sign now let's think of it all of these things were accomplished if
they did not literally see it they heard mass crowds the results from being
healed and they still wanted a sign to prove who He was as He said He was
let me ask you a question what other sign would have worked so what we have
here is not people who just did not believe or doubt you had some that would
never believe a heart of disbelief and not to get off track but is that not
what still happens today many people claim that they have read the Bible in
its entirety and afterwards they make statements like this if I only had the
complete story of and you write in the name if all the disciples would have
wrote something down I could prepare all their notes what about the perspective
from the women how come we don't have all those writings what about Mary
herself what about Jesus's brothers they were closest wouldn't they be not true
the truth is if the Bible as it is does not prove itself to you that nothing
else will
no sign no wonder no additional writings no original manuscripts no codex no
nothing the Bible Holy Spirit-inspired God breathed is more than sufficient but
God will not press His will and force His will upon anyone the Word is either
accepted or rejected and no additional science outside the one spoken of in the
Bible will ever be given bottom line and you know what there should be no
animosity or beef if you will with that statement none because if there's one
thing that we all can agree upon is time is a property you would agree you have
mass you have gravity right you have time as a property it's one of the
properties time so if time is a property that we all can agree on whether you're
atheist agnostic different faiths whatever if time is a property that we
all can agree on why would anyone waste their time on something that they don't
believe in see those talk shows they try to clown Christians in our faith wasting
time on something they don't even believe it and they say because it's
entertaining but the truth is deep down inside deep down in the reservoirs of
your heart you know that there's something in there that's true and you
just want to eradicate it all by making fun of it but in your heart it's like
there's truth in there the truth is there that's why you want to clown it it
makes you feel good because if not you would not if you did not believe it you
wouldn't waste your time on it anyway that was my rant for the day
moving on Jesus would also tell them that the only sign that would be given
would be regarding Jonah and that's talking about the timeline associated
with Jesus's death burial and resurrection in addition to this Jesus
would claim to be greater than Jonah and also greater than and wiser than Solomon
and then He would further rebuke this wicked generation and speak a parable
that captured the true condition of the entire nation of Israel and now with
that our minds hopefully in the forefront that brings us into our text
verse 46 of chapter 12 in the book of Matthew as the Word of God reads while
He was still talking to the multitudes behold His mother and brothers stood
outside seeking to speak with Him now this is why I believe it is very
important to know the back story when expounding on verses because it puts a
better perspective of us and having us completely understand what the text
means because now understanding what we read or were told we can ask the
question about what took place and then what's taking place from the standpoint
in the scriptures that we're at we can say oh my goodness He was doing what He
was still talking to the multitudes this is what he was doing the Bible says why
He was still talking after all of that stuff this speaks to Jesus continuing
His work that He was called to do and He would do it tirelessly we spoke in some
detail about all those events the healings the leaving the synagogue all
the crowds behind Him and in his text now Jesus continues to perform the will
of his Father He also talks about what He came and why He came one account
being captured in the book of John chapter 6 verse 38 for the Word of God
reads for I have come down from heaven not to do my will but the will of Him
who sent me and in Matthew chapter 18 verse 11 Jesus provides additional
clarity as to what that is for the Word of God says for the Son of man has come
to save that which was lost now this statement has a pointed dual
meaning if I could say it like that first He indeed came for the lost sheep
of the house of Israel as stated in chapter 15 in verse 24 and elsewhere
through the Scriptures but in the context of this verse He came for all of
those who were born into sin we are all descendants of Adam all of us we are all
born into sin and in need of a savior so again our Lord performing that work that
perfect work and will of the Father without pause and more importantly
without complaint this is our Jesus the perfect man performing that perfect work
that we can never achieve of our own
what's also amazing is that He did this in His humanity yes He had the power to
heal but He remained bound in His humanity to heal and perform all those
miracles just like He gave the power to the disciples to do growing tired and
weary all the attributes that we have as humans He continued the point is is that
Jesus put in a lot of work His disciples as well in order to complete that will
of the Father to save that which was lost meaning all of us all of humanity
Jesus fulfilling it and ultimate will fulfill it His father's will but there's
more in verse 46 of our text as well the Word of God continues by saying behold
His mother and brothers stood outside or stood without seeking to speak with Him
now once again we have to put ourselves back into the perspective of everything
that happened not only in verse 12 if you're familiar with Matthew the entire
book prior to this point think of it all that Jesus has done and his disciples
regarding the healing the teaching and the testimony but even with all of that
His family still took issue with it apparently as we'll see and they wish to
speak with Jesus we're also reminded in the Gospel of Mark that prior to His
family coming to speak with Him His friends also wanted to speak with Him
because they believed Jesus was crazy this is captured in Mark chapter 3 verse
21 as the Word of God reads and when His friends heard of it this event we're
talking about they went out to lay hold on Him for they said He is beside
Himself or being translated out of His mind
this is what His friends thought about the situation and soon after we're told
that His mother and brother in would come and desire to speak with him why
because the friends could not get through so they went back to get mommy
it's the way I see it and also there's a couple of other reasons why His family
stood without in the multitudes we know that one come reason comes from the mass
amounts of people that's that's talked about in the Gospel of Luke chapter 8
in verse 19 but again wouldn't it also seen that
they stood outside because of how they felt about what Jesus was doing a little
embarrassed going against the Pharisees and the scribes and the Sadducees a
little worried even though He performed all those miracles maybe they were a
little scared for Him His life knowing that the scribes and Pharisees
took counsel to come and get Him they wanted to help Jesus out but since the
age of twelve we know from the Scriptures that Jesus was about His
Father's business but also we know in that account that His mother Mary didn't
understand and it's safe to say that His family did not either we also know from
the book of John chapter 7 in verses 1 through 5 that even after this account
that were speaking of right now His own brothers did not believe so whatever
case you want to make for it one of the biggest things that are being shown to
me is that those who you would think would be closest to Him during this time
whether furthest from Him as He performed the will of the true and
living God and this is not being over-critical this is what the
Scriptures speak to and I believe for good reason
when we come to a takeaway from verse 46 and put it in the context of the entire
chapter but we see is that all those works that the Lord would perform
tirelessly He would do this without complaint with His disciples a tireless
effort Jesus being that standard that we need to follow and what it shows us is
that when that will of God comes upon us whatever that will might be that will
will require us to rely on Him for that will for which we are called in the
first place and once we're called and start our service that works begins and
guess what many times it's going to be extremely overwhelming but God just as
He sustained Jesus and His disciples will also sustain each of us forever
that will and purpose that we have been called to perform but that purpose for
each of us there is no way that we will know that will or that purpose of God in
our lives without hearing the Word of God for our lives it's impossible there
are no spiritual works that would ever be conducted without that spiritual
calling and we know many people that may seem they're doing works for the Lord
but if it is not of God the flesh will soon show itself because works by God
are Spirit led and that requires hearing His call that comes from hearing His
word notice how Jesus's family stood outside desiring to speak with Him when
it would have been in their best interest to be on the inside designed to
hear from Him the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of
God so absent hearing God's Word there is no
faith in His Word this is why we all first need to desire to hear God's Word
which should bring about that faith in His Word which should bring about that
call on our lives which should bring about those works that are of God and
unmistakable which often brings about us being tired extremely worn out from our
labors which should bring about us calling out to the Lord which will bring
about Him renewing our strength and that cycle continues throughout our Christian
walk that's what I believe in addition to that this verse also speaks to how
sometimes those closest to us in DNA can also be the ones who deter us
from doing that will of God that's placed on our lives they may not even know it
they may think that they're helping us out but it's not the case one
commentator would say that they are operating in a mode of being self-willed
and sorely deficient in the spirit of full surrender to Christ and this is
what happens and we all should be mindful of it we can all find ourselves
no question on the outside attempting to will God in our thoughts to do what we
perceive is right
any point of our Christian walk we can find ourselves on the outside desiring
to speak to the Lord I want to talk to You but not willing to listen to Him
think of it oh we have a better idea we have a better plan
in fact Lord I know something that You don't know I need to tell You about it
how can we ever know God's will if we are not willing to listen first but
again that pointed will that God has for each of us that produces those good
works will never happen prior with our own free will fulfilling God's ultimate
will that He has for all we're gonna see that moving on to verse 47 of our text
the Word of God says then one said to Him look your mother and your brothers
are standing outside seeking to speak with you Oh Oh mommy's here mommy's here
now this verse ties into the last verse now what we have is the revealing the
word being transmitted to Jesus and we have to understand the power that
mothers have think of it from birth we are attached to our moms they raise us
they teachers they train us they love us and give us that affection that can come
from no other place on the planet oh my goodness the empower of mom the Bible
speaks about it clearly you have mothers in the Bible that have moved kingdoms
because of what they told their child to do do this and princes do it so you
think about the situation mommy's here mom desires to speak with you the
friends didn't work the power of a mom to influence kingdoms so with that in
our perspective think about how this individual transmitted those words
knowing the power of a mom now not saying that he did it out of malice but
I'm just saying how I've seen it done in our time you're doing something I mean
no matter what you're doing someone says mommy's around you stop and
that's what you do so I can only imagine what he said and how he said it it would
seem that he would say it trying to get a reaction like what you're gonna do now
Jesus but mommy's here and it wasn't a whisper I don't believe it was but I
think Charles Spurgeon has the best comment in response that takes away
everything from this verse he says this an officious person reported the errand
of the family once said unto Him behold thy mother and thy brother's stand
without it is hard when interruptions come from our own flesh and blood
because strangers are sure to back them up that's the point I'm trying to make
you know how it went down mom's here I'm backing up the family she asked me to do
this I'm doing it for her we were going to say ignorantly or willfully the
reporting person lent himself to the design of the relatives by representing
that they were designed to speak with Him though indeed they desired to take
Him He speaking of Jesus who would not permit a disciple to neglect his duty on
the plea of that disciple of burying his own father
remember that account jesus said let the dead bury their dead come follow me
how will He act now that His mother comes to hinder Him He would do the
right thing and we may always find the rule of our conduct by asking the
question what would Jesus do He would not let his own disciple stop to bury
his dad how would He act now that His mom's there I'm gonna continue to do the
will of my Father when it comes to the will of God His will overrides all or it
should there should not be one request that comes from any facet of our lives
that will allow that request to interfere with the will of the true and
living God and I believe that this really starts to take shape in the next
two verses of our text as the Word of God reads but He answered and said to
the one who told Him who is my mother and who are my brothers in verse 49 and
He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said here are my mother
and my brothers you know I love it when Jesus answers a statement with a
rhetorical question that only He can answer and I only imagined the look on
the face of the one who presented that news in the first place when Jesus said
who was my mother and who are my brothers that had to be a shock like I
thought Mary you can imagine he was confused now this statement was not
meant to disrespect His family but it was meant to make a statement about the
family of the true and living God now I know family is very important in most
cultures especially in the Middle East even here in Hawaii the family family
ties here are deep and the love reflects family means
everything well we often hear this phrase that blood is thicker than water
guys heard that right but when we come into the will of God
priorities of all sorts change and shift including what we deem as family one
commentator says this Jesus here places spiritual above carnal ties His
relatives are set aside and as far as for the moment they had turned from the
obedience of discipleship but they are included and as far as much by grace
they are unable to stand fast in their temptation thus the Lord guards His
position the sanctity of His calling and the holy effect of this grand moment
which would have been destroyed by worldly prudence at the same time He
also watches over the faith of His mother and His disciples and gives a
living example of how everything else is to be subordinate to the divine calling
I think He says it perfectly the only blood that we should be submitted to in
all things is the blood of the New Covenant and again this is not to have a
disregard on our families what it is is aligning ourselves to the will of the
Father I mean if you think of it you think these words are tough to
swallow okay well consider what the Bible says in the book of Matthew
chapter 10 in verse 35 and 36 as the Word of God reads for I have come to set
man against his father a daughter against her mother a daughter-in-law
against her mother in-law in verse 36 and a man's enemies will
be those of his own household
now perhaps many of you are overly blessed they have not experienced none
of this divide in your homes regarding placing Christ in the center of it and
having God's Word lead your life but I'm not in that category I have a son who has
a different belief and won't talk to me I have family members that won't speak
to me because I love the Lord and
because I trust in the Almighty God
what you think happens oh my goodness the enemy comes in you want a good day
we didn't always walk with the Lord why now look at all the pain it's causing you
look what it's doing to your family
I think the emotional impact impacts us all who deal with this but I continue to
pray for them that another vessel would be sent that can show them the truth
because perhaps I'm not that vessel and at the end of the day it is what it is
we have to understand that we may go to heaven and much of our flesh and blood
blood may not but you know God provides us with an eternal family that many of
us refuse to take advantage of instead we compromise many aspects of the will
of God not adhering to the Word of God to make everything feel right well I'm a
man and have feelings yes I have emotions I cry like the best of them but
I love the Lord more and that's the bottom line
choose this day whom you should serve and if you think this is tough a tough
saying we should also consider the words captured in the Book of Luke chapter 14
in verse 26 as the Word of God reads if anyone comes to me and does not hate his
father and mother wife and children brothers and sisters yes and his own
life also he cannot be my disciple this is a hard saying but when it's matched
with the context of our verse and verses and also the entire counsel of God it
makes perfect sense Jesus would go on to say that in order to be His disciple we
are to forsake all and please know that this is not a hatred for our parents our
children other relatives and ourselves but what this is is a complete forsaking
of any and all including ourselves for the service of the Lord as disciples of the
Lord which again cannot happen until we first fulfill God's ultimate will and as
often as we talk about being disciples I think that it's an understatement and
that we don't understand what a disciple really means especially as time goes on
and that word gets mashed up in the garbage can everybody's a disciple huh I
don't know I mean the definition is very simple but it doesn't seem like we
embrace it as we should the word simply being someone who follows and perhaps a
more pointed term would be someone who follows another person or another way of
life and who submits himself to the disciplines or the
teachings of that leader and or way it's a willful submission based on the
teachings of that leader that is being followed and in this case that is none
other than Jesus Christ this is important for us to know about disciples
because the Word of God says in verse 49 of our text and He stretched out His
hand toward His disciples and said here are my mother and my brothers notice He
didn't stretch out His hand over the multitude
it was towards His disciples not the crowds His disciples not the one who
told Him that His disciples this is who he claims to be a part of his family and
I believe this holds a lot of truth for us that we can apply in our Christian
walk perhaps best done in the form of a question and that question is are we
practicing our Christian walk or merely a part of the crowd that professes it
once and again and again again Jesus didn't address the crowd He addressed
His disciples as His family for a specific reason I got the hell fly
flying around here but for many of us we've been around Jesus long enough not
to just proclaim our faith but to practice it out and be among those
called followers or disciples the question is do we do it or have we even
done that first perfect will that the Father wants us to do we long for us to
accomplish in order to be a disciple in the first place
in verse 50 of our text it would appear that the disciples did the will
of the Father as Jesus says for whoever does the will of my father in heaven is
my brother and sister and mother and now this statement for me brings it all home
and it will for all of us prayerfully for whoever does the will of my Father
in heaven is my mother my brother and sister and mother the disciples did this
because Jesus said he those are definitely
His people so the question is what is that will what will is Jesus talking
about now of the many directions that it could go there's only one way that it
has to go must go and that's from Ground Zero this will of the father has to be
universal because Jesus says whoever does the will and because of that I find
that in the book of John chapter 6 in verse 40 is that anchored will of the
Father as the Word of God reads and this is the will of him who sent me that
everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life and I
will raise them up at the last day
this is that will this is the starting point of the will of the Father
nothing else comes before this to believe on the Son because from this
belief all the other components of God's will can now be accomplished in our
lives by the power of the Holy Spirit but we first must believe and do we know
what that word believe means well according to the Bible the word believe
means to be faithful to someone or something to trust in and this word is a
verb meaning in action it is the most used verb in the entire New Testament
believe we must first believe believe in the one and only God that sent the Son
of God to do His will which in turn fulfills the primary will that God has
for us all this will this is the will of my Father Jesus would say for us
to believe on the Son for everlasting life because from our belief all the
will of the Father comes alive like the book of James chapter one in verse
eighteen it reads of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth
that we might be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures oh but you had to
believe first and order for this to be accomplished and from this belief comes
exactly what our pastor talked about last week and 1 Thessalonians
chapter five in verse eighteen which says and everything give thanks why for
this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you you can't do that without
believing this is what believing enables us to do and that believing is the core
will of our Father which brings everything else interview and provides
us with the ability to do God's will now we need to remember also that we're not
going to be perfect in doing God's will we think of for His grace mercy and love
and for His Word because it ensures us that even in those troubles in the times
that we do complain He will strengthen us and honor us for it think about the
story of the parable of the two sons in a vineyard right two sons he says do
this the one son says yeah I'll do it and go hides himself paraphrasing it
tells the other son go do this I don't want to do it he complains about it but
grudgingly he goes in and and completes the task and he asked the disciples
which one honored the father or did the will of the father he said the one that
complained but did the work they were right thank God for that
that's me point is is that that belief and the son will allow these aspects of
God's will to be accomplished and with that we can be sure that nothing will
remove us from the loving hands of the Lord
regarding this as we close I love this statement by Albert Barnes which reads
everyone which sees the Sun and believed on him it was not sufficient to see him
and hear him but it was necessary also to believe on him many of the Jews had
seen him but very few believed on him Jesus had said in the previous verse
that all that the father had given him should be saved but he never left a
doctrine so that men must miss understand it lest it should be supposed
that if a man was given to him this was all that was needful and lest anyone
should say if I'm to be saved I shall be saved and my efforts would be useless he
states here that is necessary that a man should believe on Him that has a
different meaning why this would be the evidence that he was given to God and
this would be the evidence conclusive that he would be saved if this
explanation of the Savior had always been attended to the doctrine of
election will not have been abused as it has been sinners would not sit down
unconcerned saying that if we are given to Christ
all will be well they would have risen like the prodigal and would have gone to
God having believed on the Son the Savior they would have then had evidence
that they would give it to him evidence resulting from a humble
contract believing heart and then they might rejoice and that assurance that
Jesus would lose none that were given to him but were raised it up in the last
day listen to this final part all the doctrines of Jesus as He preached them
are safe and pure and consistent but as men preach them they are unhappily often
inconsistent and open to objection and they're either fitted
to produce despair on one hand or a presumptuous self-confidence on the
other Jesus teaches men to strive to enter Heaven as if they can do it of the
works themselves and yet to depend on the help of God and give Him the glory
as He has done it all which He did indeed for the salvation of us all and
everyone can be certain of their salvation by doing the will of the
Father which is to believe on the Son as your personal Savior by the gospel of
Jesus Christ and that gospel is that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day
according to the Scriptures He's our salvation the only true way to
eternal life you cannot get there by your own works you can get there today
because it's ABC simple first by acknowledging that you are a sinner in
need of a savior who is Jesus Christ Romans 3:10 says as it is written there
is none righteous no not one and in verse 23 it says for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God again this means that no one could
get in of their own no one would be accepted in the kingdom of God
absent a sinless state and is shown by chapter 6 in verse 23 the Bible says
for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord that's the A and the B stands for that word we just talked
about believe it's a verb an action must be done while the C stands for confess
they're both captured in the book of Romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10 the Word of
God reads that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved
for with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth
confession is made to salvation this is exactly how someone
gets saved it's important to understand what believe means this is the will of
my father and your heavenly Father the Word of God specifically says in the
book of 2nd Peter chapter 3 in verse 9 the Lord is not slack concerning His
promise as some count slackness but is long-suffering toward us not willing
that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and I pray
that this is your day if you have not called upon the name of the Lord to do
the will of our Heavenly Father and allow all those other Godly works
produced by God's will to be done in your lives why don't we stand so we can
pray
loving Heavenly Father as a servant I've done what you've called me to do the
best of my human ability and I pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit you
would take these words and take this teaching and bless the hearts and minds
of those who would hear it so much so that we receive that report so we can
increase our faith Lord we thank you for all that you've done and continue to
do and may we all be in your perfect will from now and forever lasting to
everlasting we love you and we thank you in the mighty name of Jesus we pray
