Conte vows to stay as Chelsea boss even if they fail to land the transfer window signings he wants

ANTONIO CONTE insists he is staying put at Chelsea, regardless of the club's transfer troubles.

Boss Conte fears his squad will crumble under the pressure as early as next month if he fails to land at least two new players before the window shuts on Thursday.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says he is as focused and committed as ever.

Summer signing Alvaro Morata netted again as Chelsea beat Everton 2-0. Alvaro Morata, one of Conte's four summer buys, did net in yesterday's win over Everton.

And determined Conte said: "I'm totally committed to the club. "Totally committed to improve my players and my team. I'm a coach, not a manager.

"For sure, when you want to strengthen your squad, you have to give your opinion. Then the club goes into the transfer market to try and sort the situation.

"Sometimes it is possible. Sometimes it's not possible. But I must be focused with things on the pitch and continue to work with my players. "The club is working very hard to try to improve our squad.

Antonio Conte was his usual animated figure as the Blues beat Everton 2-0.

Ex-Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is settling in quickly at Stamford Bridge. Conte has been given hitman Morata, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, defender Antonio Rudiger and keeper Willy Caballero this summer — at an initial cost of £129m.

But he warned: "Don't forget in September we have to play seven games. "I need to rotate my players because it's very difficult to play seven games in a month with some players.

"I think the club is working very hard to strengthen the squad. They know very well our situation.".

Leicesters Danny Drinkwater remains a midfield target for Antonio Conte. Conte is chasing Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater, Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley, who missed yesterday's  game for ­Everton with a hamstring injury.

First-half goals from Cesc Fabregas and  Morata got Chelsea's title defence up and running after a shaky start to the season, against a jaded Everton team playing their third game in seven days.

Evertons England international playmaker Ross Barkley is injured at the moment but still being monitored by Chelsea. Conte added: "We dominated the game, we ­created many chances to score.

"If I have to see a little negative aspect, in the second half we could have been more clinical and scored the third goal to close the game definitely.

"At 2-0, from set-plays and corners you might concede a goal and you might have finished the game with a bit of fear, which you don't need.

Conte was chuffed to see Spanish hitman Morata bag his first goal for the club since his move from Real Madrid, for an initial £58m.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another top English talent wanted by Antonio Conte. The Italian said: "He scored a really good goal and I'm pleased for him.

"When you arrive at a new club and you are a striker, to score is very important. "It's not easy for a striker — and the midfielders — to arrive and adapt very quickly to our philosophy.

"Above all the strikers, who I need to stay in ­position as a point of ­reference. To adapt to our style is not easy and you need time.

"But I'm pleased for him, Rudiger and Bakayoko —  new signings, young players. We are trying to build and improve this base.".

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says he is extremely confident about his sides prospects, hailing their performance in defeating Leicester City at Old Trafford.

Substitutes Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini struck late on as United claimed a 2-0 victory on Saturday that continued their 100 per cent start to the Premier League campaign.

United racked up 22 shots in a match that also saw Romelu Lukaku have a penalty saved by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who produced an inspired performance.

Mourinho is not getting carried away by United sitting on nine points from three games, but the manager believes his players solidity, confidence and quality is a marked improvement on what they offered last season.

We played very well, Mourinho, whose side are yet to concede a league goal, said to BT Sport.

The team is playing very well and Im very confident. We are comfortable on the ball and dangerous on the counterattack.

The result was open at 0-0 and it was obviously very difficult. The blue wall was very well organised and I always give credit to that, but we kept calm and kept control.

After missing the penalty team remained confident and we deserved it. If I had to choose a word to describe my team it would be solid..

He added: We can look into perspective, last season we won against Leicester at home so that doesnt make a difference, but we had too many draws at home last season.

Nine points after three matches is nothing different for us because we did that last season. The difference is the quality of our football, were playing better now and if we hadnt won this match I wouldnt have anyone to blame.

Rashford and Fellaini both scored after coming off the bench, while the other sub, Jesse Lingard, created the Belgium midfielders goal with a run and shot from the left.

If I dont have them on the bench I cant make successful changes, he said of the impact his substitutes have had so far this season.

The players work hard and those who are not playing and are on the bench, or in the stands, are working hard too and waiting for the chance.

Two dead, thousands rescued as Texas hit with widespread flooding - Duration: 1:59.

Over in the United States.

Texas is hit hard by Harvey... a category 4 hurricane with winds well in excess of 200

kilometers per hour.

While it's downgraded to a tropical storm, rain is still coming down in record amounts.

Lee Ji-won give us the updates.

Hurricane Harvey, which has so far killed two people, has lost a lot of its wind speed

and was downgraded to a tropical storm late on Saturday.

But the heavy rain brought with it has resulted in what the National Weather Service is describing

as "unprecedented flooding."

With parts of Houston seeing over 60 centimeters of rain in 24 hours on Sunday morning, the

service tweeted on Sunday that the full impact is unknown and the flood is beyond anything

experienced.

But forecasting that isolated storms could drop a record-breaking 130 centimeters of

rain on parts of Texas over the next few days, it added that "rainfall of this magnitude

will cause catastrophic and life-threatening flooding."

Amid continuous downpour, rescue operations continued day and night.

Houston 911 got over 56-thousand calls, 7 times more phone calls than an average day.

3-thousand national and state guard service members, 500 vehicles and 14 aircraft have

also been deployed to the area.

The Red Cross is serving about 130-thousand meals a day, and large shelters have been

opened to accommodate the thousands of people displaced from their homes.

The White House announced that President Trump will be visiting Texas on Tuesday,... and

the president showed his concerns over the disaster, tweeting that he would travel to

Texas "as soon as that trip can be made without causing disruption".

But with the slow-moving storm expected to continue pouring 40 to 60 centimeters of rain

over the Texas coast through Thursday,... the natural disaster is likely to take a greater

toll on the region.

Haaz Sleiman of Nurse Jackie proudly came out as gay in a candid Facebook video Saturday.

The 41-year-old actor proclaimed I am a gay, Muslim, Arab-American man in the social media clip, while also offering a cheeky TMI tidbit about his life saying Not only am I gay, but I'm also a bottom.

The Lebanon-born talents announcement comes a full eight years after he told The Advocate that he identified as straight during a 2009 interview.

Haaz, who was the out and proud character Mo-Mo De La Cruz in the beloved Showtime series, said he was inspired to go public after learning that more LGBTQ Americans have already been killed this year than the whole of 2016.

He wasnt playing straight in the clip, where he said I am a gay, Muslim, Arab-American man.

The Wayne State University alum continued, offering a blushworthy description of his preferences: And I'm going to take it even further: Not only am I gay, but I'm also a bottom.

He dialed up the sass, adding Not only am I a bottom, but I'm also a total bottom which means I like it up you know where. Haaz wasnt afraid to offer his opinion to bigots and haters.

And I say this to all the homophobes living in the United States of America and across the globe… Why not? If you ever come to me, to kill me just because I'm gay… I will destroy you.

I might be gay and I might be a nice guy, but don't get it twisted because I will f*** you up, he finished.

The Covert Affairs actor also explained how he ended up calling himself straight while talking to The Advocate almost a decade ago. I told Showtime only on one condition, no personal questions. The Advocate agreed, he wrote on social media. .

But the LGBT mag didnt hold up their end of the bargain. At the end of the half hour interview over the phone the idiot interviewer, whom I think was gay, asked me if was gay or straight (no personal questions)… .

Blindsided by the question, Haaz blurted out his answer without thinking. I was so shocked. My body started shaking. And then I lied and said I was straight. Shame on gay people who are not kind to other gay people.

He did that on purpose.. In addition to his work on Jackie, Sleiman has enjoyed a host of other compelling projects.

In 2007 he earned an independent Spirit nomination for his role in The Visitor. Most recently, Raaz played Dr. Rabia in The State, a Channel 4 mini-series about British citizens who join ISIS in Syria.

Its the first outing proper for the loved up couple and their first family excursion since their son was born.

Cheryl looked at ease as she posed on a boat for one of the pictures, displaying her figure just five months after welcoming Baby Bear to the fold in March.

The couple also posted a series of selfies to Instagram Stories, showing that the former Girls Aloud star was fresh and happy since returning to social media.

Some of the pictures showed the lovebirds clearly having fun on their holiday with filters and emojis. One of the Instagram posts shows Liam putting his arms around Cheryl and stroking her hair in an image that resembles a Calvin Klein advert.

It's a sweet insight into their personal lives, and not because the 34-year-old has an album to promote or anything. Hang on a minute – its been rumoured the popstar is planning on her comeback with her fifth solo album, what timing.

She reportedly has designs on recording it during their trips to LA – she was recently seen picking up her American visa to put the plan into action. So this album may well not be too far off.

A source told The Sun: 'Cheryl's got a longer US visa so she can go back and forth more frequently to the States. 'She hasn't started working on the new album yet as she is still enjoying her time off with Bear.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a top Liverpool target. The Anfield club famously rejected a bid of £40m plus £1 from Arsenal for Luis Suarez in 2013.

But the North London side are now in the driving seat and look ready to assert themselves over their Premier League rivals.

Despite Arsene Wenger saying Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, was not for sale this summer, Arsenal have had to review their position as a number of contract offers have been met with silence.

Ox told Wenger he was happy to stay and sign a new long-term deal last season. But much like with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the player has not put pen to paper.

There is an understanding that Oxlade-Chamberlain's representatives have been difficult to work with, and the advice given may be the catalyst behind his change of heart.

Jurgen Klopps Liverpool will need to pay a bizarre price to land Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal risk losing their top stars, with eight players out of contract next summer and a further nine the following year.

Ox has bags of potential and has shown flashes of brilliance, but has never nailed down his position in the side due to form and injury. England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to leave Arsena.

There is a feeling, however, that under new management and with an injury-free run of games, he may reach his potential.

Regardless of that, Arsenal will have to put their business hat on when dealing with Ox between now and the end of the window. Arsenal are desperate to hold onto Oxlade-Chamberlain and will try and convince him to sign a new deal.

In first signs of thaw between India and China at Doklam, both countries agreed to disengage

from the Sikkim border, which had turned into a flashpoint for the nuclear-armed nations.

"In recent weeks, India and China maintained diplomatic communication in respect of incident

at Doklam.

We were able to express our views and convey our concerns and interests," the MEA said

in a statement.

" On this basis, expeditious disengagement of border personnel at the face-off site at

Doklam has been agreed to and is on-going," it added.

The move is a big plus for Prime Minister Narendra Modi before he travels next week

to Xiamen for the BRICS summit.

The Doklam ease could help set the agenda for talks between Modi and Chinese President

Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the five-nation meeting.

There are indications that President Vladimir Putin could play a key role at the high table

in Xiamen in helping solve the Sino-Indian issues.

A bilateral meeting between Modi and Putin is also in the works on the sidelines of BRICS

Summit.

International affairs experts who have followed the evolution of BRICS refer to the fact that

such multilateral platforms help member-states strengthen their bilateral ties and iron out

wrinkles.

India and China have been at the loggerheads on Doklam, where soldiers from the two countries

have been in a stand-off for more than two months.

It was the most powerful hurricane to hit Texas in more than 50 years,… and it's lethal.

Semin, as you mentioned,... two people have been killed so far,... but local authorities

say the death toll is expected to rise.

Up to 14-people have been injured in Aransas County, coastal Southern Texas, but more than

a thousand people had to be rescued overnight from flooded areas,... and some 300-thousand

households suffering from power outages.

With sustained winds of nearly 210 kilometers an hour, Harvey was declared category 4 storm,

the second highest on America's hurricane warning system.

Though the most powerful storm to hit the U.S. since Hurricane Charley in 2004 has lost

a lot of its wind speed and was downgraded to a tropical storm later on Saturday,...

it continues to dump heavy rain in Houston.

With more than 60 centimeters of rain falling in 24 hours, rescue operations are ongoing,...

but the situation may become even more dire as a record-breaking 130 centimeter of rain

is forecast to fall on parts of Texas in the coming days.
