Do THIS Exercise to Make Sure You Reach Your Goals This Off-Season | Dead Red Hitting - Duration: 2:02.

So just one quick note about practice plans, and making sure that you

accomplish your goals for the upcoming season that I wanted to just leave a

note with you guys here is, you know you you have to have your motivation, you

have to understand what your motivations are if you really want to be able to

reach your goals. So one quick exercise that you guys can actually do, and I used

to do this when I was playing around this time of year, you know after you're

playing the summer baseball you're gonna have a little bit of a break before you

start fall baseball. So when you're doing that one of the most important things to

do again is to write out your goals, and then also what's attached to your goals

is going to be the biggest things that actually motivate you to reach your

goals. And what I would do is I'll just take

out a piece of paper on both sides, and I would write down as many things as I

possibly could that would motivate me especially on those days during the

off season when you know, it's gonna be tough, you know you've worked out for the

last five days, and you've hit the cage for you know an hour in the last five

days, and Saturday you know it's Saturday afternoon and got a game, and you know

things like that so it's just it's always important to keep yourself

engaged and understand what truly drives you when you are in the off season, when

you're you know when you're in the cage and when you're trying to reach those

goals. So I can't can't stress that enough as you guys get going into the

off season. So highly recommend you take this time, I know most people are on a

little bit of a break which I recommend especially if you guys are getting

burnt out, but take this time to you know write down that list of those things

that do motivate you, and you can either hang it on your wall in your room, keep

it somewhere handy even if you want to keep in your phone and just remind

yourself everyday of why you're doing what you're doing, and why you're, you

know approaching and attacking your goals the way that you are. So you know

just want to take a quick second and put that out to you guys as a live message

here. So trying to get in the habit of using the Facebook live a little bit

more I think it's a pretty cool tool that Facebook's got out there for for me

to be able to reach you guys and help you out in a more consistent basis

Well hello everybody and welcome back to my channel.

Or if you are new, hello welcome to my channel.

My name is Sophie.

So recently I saw a video that Molly Burke uploaded.

If you don't know who Molly Burke is, she is a blind youtuber

and i absolutely love her videos and would love to meet her one day.

And she did a video on whether she wanted to be cured and get her sight back.

And it got me thinking about my health and what my answer would be because

people have asked me if i wish that i could you know, get my hearing back.

jumping into the question, now i know a lot people will have a lot of different answers.

and i know my mum had a very different view to what i have

because i actually asked her this question this morning

before filming this video.

for me personally, the answer would … be kind of dependant on the day but more on

the No side.

And i'll tell you why.

I have had my hearing for the majority of my life and it is only in like the last 6

months to a year that my hearing has really really decreased

and got worse.

Which is what decreased means.

obviously! haha So for me i've kind of only recently gone

through all the motions of adjusting and kind of almost mourning my hearing

if that makes sense.

And when i first lost my hearing or like first started becoming more and more deaf,

i kind of was like, Oh my g-d this is the worst thing in the world.

how am i gonna live?

how am i gonna you know do everything because for me hearing was my normal and is what i

knew.

so when i first lost it i was kind of like oh my g-d like…

i want my hearing back.

like give me my hearing back.

i hated it.

i absolutely hated it.

i felt so isolated.

i felt so alone.

and i felt like it was literally the end of the world.

however, as i have learnt to adjust and learnt to adapt things and kind of got more familiar,

i see that actually it's not all that bad and honestly, there are some very good points

to having a hearing loss.

like, when i wanna just shut off from the world, i can!

i can just take my hearing aids out and i'm like… hmmm silence!!

when i have a really bad head ache… i don't have to listen to anything.

but yeah… there are a lot of adaptations and there things that i've had to change

and there are things that maybe i can't do as easily as i used to.

But, for me personally, i think kind of going through it all i feel like when i'm constantly

looking for a way to get it back, or constantly looking for a way to improve

it, i'm so focused on that, and i'm not living

my life.

i'm too focused on the, i want something i don't have.

and i'm not, learning to adjust, i'm not learning to

adapt and i'm not accepting my reality now.

And whilst, yes if there was a way to be like, okay take this pill and you get your hearing

back, it would be maybe something i would consider

but honestly, i don't know if i would because,

there's nothing wrong with having hearing loss.

Like, just because you can't hear, you can't hear…

it doesn't stop you from doing anything else.

And you see things in a very different way.

You see more than you would maybe if you have hearing because you kind of pick up more around

you.

And again with all my other health, i have made some really amazing friends that,

i may never have made if it wasn't for having hearing loss.

And i know that in Molly Burke's video, straight out no.

And she has had blindness now for 10 years and it is her reality.

And i think that she is able to accept that so amazingly, is ah-mazing!

like, one day i hope that i can be exactly like that but for me now it is still fairly

new.

it is still you know in the first year kind of thing.

so, whilst i wouldn't say out right yes i want my hearing back,

there's also not an exact no to it because it's still fairly new and

i'm still learning to adapt to situations and there's still situations

that come up that i get thrown off by because i've not experienced it yet.

So, it's still kinda new and there are moments in my life, in day to day or weekly or monthly

or whatever, that i'm kind of like, i kinda wish i could

hear right now.

But for the most part, the answer's actually no!

So… that is why i say maybe yes… maybe no because

there's certain situations that i'm still learning to adapt.

But the ones that i have learnt to adapt, and the ways i've accepted, i have accepted.

and for me, accepting it to be able to move on is just,

this is what i have, this is what i've been served,

this is what i'm gonna, you know this is my reality and this is how i'm gonna

live now.

And by wanting to get something back, you're living in the past,

you're not accepting, you're not moving and you don't feel like you know…

you're… you're living to be honest.

Like every time i have to go to hospital appointments, or try something new,

or try this medication, i just feel like i'm not living like i'm

letting all this stuff take over.

So for me, much like i'm sure many other people,

dealing with it and accepting it and moving on and just forgetting about the past and

what i had, is a way to deal with life.

I feel like if i wasn't lucky enough to have a family who thinks and accommodates

for me or my work colleagues, if they weren't you

know willing to make more of an effort so that i can understand,

or my cheer friends or my coaches or just my friends.

if they weren't so good and so easy about adapting and learning new ways and understanding

what i need, then i feel like, i probably would want my

hearing back because i would feel like it's the end of the world

no matter how much i tried to adapt.

But at the same time, because they are and because i can see things in such a different

way, i see life in a different way and i have kind

of been more exposed to a different culture and different of living

and a different language in sign language and stuff,

you just see life in a very different way and different isn't always bad.

I am horrible with change at first, but sometimes i then kind of learn to love

that change more if that makes sense.

And the reason why i haven't, yes it's change, and yes it's different

and it's not the normal, but it's not the end of the world and you

can live just as good a life as someone who is fully hearing.

Or fully deaf.

Or mild hearing loss.

It doesn't matter.

there are some amazing deaf actors out there, and you know, entrepreneurs and amazing people

living this life just in a different way.

I feel like people need to get over the whole 'hearing loss is bad',

you can't do this, you can't do that.

Because lets face reality, the only difference between a hearing person and non hearing person

is that.. non hearing person can't hear.

And does things in a slightly different way.

It doesn't mean they can't it.

hearing is still what was my normal, this is now my reality and i'm ok with that.

And i am accepting it.

I obviously haven't fully accepted it because i mean it's not even been like a full year

since my hearing's gotten that bad.

But i'm accepting it and i feel like this is my way to accept it.

Hello! Welcome to "Fantasma Brasil".

It's a commonplace to say

that Phantom fans

are only men and people of a certain age.

Well, in this episode

we will try to show that the thing is not quite there.

With you a guest,

a very special fan.

It's with you, Lorena!

Hi. My name is Lorena Varella, I'm 18 years old

and I'm very much a Phantom fan. I met the Phantom through my uncle,

Glaucio Cardoso,

because every time he came im my house he would comment

the stories he read.

I've never been fond of stories of superheroes,

but he spoke with such intensity, with so much passion,

that one day curiosity spoke louder

and I asked him to tell me or lend me some history.

It was when he passed several stories to the file of my computer

and I remember until today that the first story that I read was

"The Ghost Killer". That's when I started

to love the character, his strength,

his legacy, especially the question of loyalty,

that honor, something

that always caught my eye.

And to this day I'm at it.

I really like a good plot and the story that fascinated me

and to this day I say that it was my favorite was

"The Hanta witch" which is the story that tells

the origin of the Heloise's name.

When I read that story, I was so touched by

the witch's story, by the way Kit Walker himself

told the story to his children,

and it's a story that unfortunately I do not have the physical volume,

but every time I open the computer,

It's something I'll never forget.

This is my collection, which as you can see is not very big,

but for which I have a great affection.

Most of it was given to me as a gift.

This is the great treasure of my collection,

it's called "The Last Phantom"

and it's my favorite issue simply

because it was the first one I bought,

so it sort of marked me.

I bought it at the Biennial Book Fair of 2013,

and to this day I still read, reread

and I am waiting to buy the second volume.

I do not believe the Phantom is for old people

simply because he is immortal! He has been there for more than 400 years,

so nothing fairer than the new generations

continue to follow.

And I do not think any hero is necessarily for old people,

because if we still have classic books, books of the last century,

why can't we like old-fashioned comics?

Quick Question 001: Do You REALLY Need To Replace Thermal Paste? - Duration: 4:58.

We've all heard it before: thermal paste needs to be replaced every 12 months, 24,

36, whatever.

But do you actually need to replace TIM?

Howdy howdy guys ponchato here, and welcome to a new series called "Quick Questions".

It's called quick questions because it's about questions that are quick.

Let's get started.

The test system for this is a practically ancient i5-750 build that I put together around

7 years ago.

The thermal paste has not been changed once in that time, so this really is a test of

the extreme case.

The processor is cooled by an old Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, though I did replace the stock

fan a few years ago.

Since we're only testing the thermal paste though, the cooler itself doesn't really matter.

All we're looking for is a change in temperatures at idle, gaming, and stress testing.

Oh, and all of these tests were performed in a room at near-constant 24C.

First I had to remove the heat sink and the old thermal paste.

As you can probably tell, this wasn't the stock fan that came with the cooler.

The old fan died on me a while ago, so I replaced it with a Thermaltake 140mm fan.

Partly out of curiosity, partly because that's just what I had lying around.

Anyway the fan came off easily with simple plastic clips that hold it to the heat sink.

Fortunately by this time in the PC cooling timeline, installation was already pretty

simple.

Four screws held down the retention clip and after unscrewing them, the heat sink came

off.

Before switching out the thermal paste I ran some tests to get the temperatures.

At idle, the i5-750 sat around 32C.

While playing CSGO, CPU temperature varied but generally hovered around 54C.

Finally during stress testing with Prime95, the i5 peaked at 63C.

Next I cleaned up and replaced the TIM.

As you can see, I went pretty light on the thermal paste when I built this system.

While wiping off the old Arctic Silver 5 paste, I noticed that it was extremely viscous; closer

to peanut butter than actual thermal paste.

Maybe thermal paste really does dry out?

I wiped off the CPU, and then cleaned it with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol.

In an everyday build you probably don't even need to do that, but because we're

specifically testing temperatures and there might only be slight variations, I wanted

to be sure.

Next I wiped off the bottom of the Hyper 212 Plus and cleaned it with the rubbing alcohol.

One thing that has changed in the heat sinks of today is that the space between direct

contact heat pipes is much, much smaller.

There were probably 1 or 2 millimeters of space between the pipes and base of the heat

sink, mostly filled with old thermal paste.

I didn't clean them out perfectly because I didn't want to get in there with something

that could scratch the base, and those areas probably wouldn't conduct much heat anyway

since there'd be such a large thermal paste gap.

Once it was all cleaned up, I added a drop of Deepcool Z5 thermal paste to the processor.

The best way to apply thermal paste is one drop in the center, maybe half the size of

a pea.

This makes it so that when you put the heat sink back on it pushes any air pockets away

from the center, whereas if you spread the paste beforehand there's a good chance air

will get trapped.

I positioned the retention arm on top of the base, placed the heat sink on the processor

and moved it around a bit to spread the paste, then tightened all the retention clips.

I removed the two closest DIMMs so I could reinstall the fan, clipped it on, and then

plugged it in.

Come to think of it, this was actually one of the easiest to install heat sinks I've

ever used.

After getting it all setup again, I ran the temperature tests one more time.

This time at idle, the processor sat at 31C.

While playing CSGO, it reached 54C.

Finally, while stress testing the processor peaked at 61C.

So that's a 2 degree drop at idle, no change while gaming (though CPU temperature varies

quite a bit during games), and 2 degree drop under max load.

Based on all this, I can say that thermal paste actually does show signs of aging.

It's very subtle, but there is a difference.

As for how often you'd need to replace it, that's harder to say.

If you want the absolute lowest temperatures or you're running a hot overclock, I'd

recommend that you replace thermal paste every 2 years.

If you're changing it that often, you can be pretty much certain that you're always

running with the best possible temperature.
