Youtube daily have Apr 1 2017

alright this is information high this is

EXO along with a magical girl, Celia Rose

hey everybody and our resident mecha

expert, Chad hi there everyone. Alex do

you have any wish list things for macross

I do I mean my main wish would be for

them to just reanimate the SDF show oh

yeah! Oh like Yamato no I mean straight

just the animation, use the same voices,

same vocal tracks, same background music,

same sound effects, and because you can't

replace you know like some of the

classic stuff like Lynn Minmei and

because Hikaru Ichijo especially your Hikaru

Ichijo right you can't redo that guy

yeah no I don't really want to hear new

music from from the show but I think

they should just animate it I don't know

if you guys saw I think we talked about

this the patlabor reboot oh god yes yeah

the animation is it looks on amazing oh

my god it was it was a religious

experience almost it was so good yeah so

you see a lot of people saying like oh

if it was only like the pachinko

animation which I would be totally

against not that the pachinko animation

is bad for what it is but for a full-on

redo of the animation for the original

series it would have to be something

like the patlabor reboot that quality

yeah i agree yeah I like the pachinko

material for what it was but I just I

think people were just like really

really like fans are obviously very

excited to see like the original

characters and the original mecha

reanimated with modern animation

techniques and I admit I was as

much a fan of the pachinko production as

well it was fun time I loved I loved

that material it was it was so much fun

to see I don't think it's high quality

enough to to do a series no not at all

especially the mecha animation and i

also would want to see something like

what was done with patlabor where they

use that sort of level of accomplished

you know cg for you know the animation

quality and and and just the character

art of course it means a lot to me right

so i would i would definitely want to

see that level of quality for the

character and yeah would be would be

interesting a reanimation

certainly would it would help me sell

the show on people who have never

watched it before because as it stands

right now as much as I love, you know

super dimension fortress macross I

almost never introduced it to anybody

and I have it for a long long time let

me talking to probably 10-15 years

because it's just it's just too old

unless you're a fan of that era of

animation there's nothing wrong with

that though those are the only one

people who could really get into it at

that man it's just

it's too far behind you I remember for

the longest time whenever I was trying

to introduce any of my new friends into

anime i would use stuff like cowboy

bebop as their gateway drug so to speak

right and i find that even now today

that's actually getting a little old I

showed it to my roommate and he he liked

it he liked the movie better but yeah I

could I could tell the animation quality

just didn't have enough of a visual

punch compared to all of the other two

modern entertainment that we're used to

not just live action stuff I'm talking

about other animation as well right you

know and not just the pixar

are the DreamWorks films but other like

you know animated shows on television

why not yeah and next SDF is like one of

my favorite stories of all time not just

in anime is just I think just a one of

the greatest classic stories that's been

presented on TV or whatever yeah and I

think it deserves better animation and

you know we all know that they couldn't

do it at the time because of the budget

restrictions and everything but also

from a marketing standpoint I think they

don't have anything to lose I mean first

of all you know you're just reanimating

which is like the hardest thing of

course but they're reanimating the whole

thing and they don't have to spend so

much on I think they remastered

everything already as far as the vocal

tracks and all the you know sound

everything was yeah for the HD

releases and whatnot yeah it's already

been done yeah good done it's easy and

you know what's the best selling a

Valkyrie in the market it still to be VF-1

and for your em to ya reanimate that and

then have a new generation introduced to

the VF-1, the destroids, the sdf-1 yeah

yeah like them just remarketing the same

thing that they've been doing that you

know they could re release all the

arcadia Vakyries and maybe if you

know if it's a bigger hit now than then

they could lower the cost on those toys

and you know and then maybe have like

bigger line I mean right now everybody's

going crazy over the hi-metal R you

know over a show that was shown like 30

what six years ago 37 yeah you're you're

you're not wrong you're not wrong yeah

especially in this in the current

climate as well it's just like it's this

is a climate of

anime right now that caters to the fans in

a way that it's never you know it almost

never has before and I understand that

some people think that era is beginning

to pass and I'm sure it is nothing ever

stays the same now would mean if

new out now would be the time to do it

it'll be too late yeah I agree now would

be the time to do it and I think that

you're right in that production the

budget for a production like this would

be far reduced from like a full-blown

you know animation and what they

everything is done for you the editing

the storyboarding you know all the the

pre-production and everything like that

all the voice work in every it's all

done for you already like yeah you just

have to concentrate on the the animation

and you're getting that right and

everything was would be great if they

can do it with something like Yamato I

see no reason why macross couldn't

benefit for it or any of the other

classic shows you know like the the

Evangelion movies are pretty much a

modern attempt to retell the original

you know Neon Genesis Evangelion with

modern animation right I mean that

they're changing it up a bit and whatnot

but it's just so much of it like when I

went through those movies like so much

of it was very familiar they were

hitting a lot of the same beats you know

getting to the same points in the

stories and as the original television

series got the same sort of tone they're

editing it almost the same I think this

is definitely something that a lot of

fans have talked about you know,

reanimating the original series it's

come up again and again and I think yeah

that's also something that would be a

worthwhile macross production I'd be on

board for that and they could fix stuff

within like without changing like the

audio I mean there how far along are you

Celia I'm up to don't go

single digit on me you've been watching

this for oh hell no I'm trying to

remember the number but like it's after

Minmay wins miss Macross and like she

goes up in a plane with Hikaru and she

falls asleep and I just met her cousin

okay yeah I'm aware of what the

major plot points were after that

something with that um yeah that was

yeah yep because I interested you didn't

you're introduced to her cousin and he

looks like a douchebag I can already

tell he's not a great guy

he's just the biggest douchebag yeah he's

great though he's a great douchebag but

um these are fun is a fun character to

hate oh yeah it was great a good villain

yeah they could takes a lot of stuff

like that but they could totally

recoreograph the knife fight between Max

and Milia right yeah and a lot of

the the episodes that were done by star

pro and yeah those could really benefit

from a reanimation I don't know if

they could solve that problem with Focker's death

that spoiler Celia Focker dies oh I've

known about that this show is 35 years

old guys it's kind of hard I don't know

they could fix that but that'd be

something interesting if they even like

tried you know cuz everybody complained

about that like why did he go straight

to Claudia's house yeah but because he's

going to see the woman he loves

obviously yeah before he passes yeah the

things that I mean I get that and I love

that and I love the whole tragic part of

it but the thing where they screwed up

is they showed the those two guys the

ground crew guys kind of like reacting

to all the blood in the cockpit and I

think that's where everybody kind of

gets confused because if not if there

was that much blood in the cockpit then

you pretty much like how do you not

bleed all the way to Claudia's house

plus he also yeah how do you make it all

that way without being spotted yeah plus

he also managed to change clothes you

know yeah that there's stuff that they

could I've never really been bothered by

that it was just like it was it was more

to the character state of mind I mean he

didn't want to spend his he knew it was

over right at that point he didn't want

to spend the last moments of his life in

a hospital he wanted to spend them with

Claudia exactly I got that right now I do

like the SDF death more than the DYRL

everybody's always saying like oh that

one's better because it makes more sense

no I like it better on the SDF

absolutely yeah i like i like the SDF

version as well that's that's the far

superior version could you imagine how

cool Milia throwing her baby is going

to look in the updated animation thank

you like here

that would be legendary yeah just

everything like there's so many

sequences even that even the well

animated sequences that would be just

great to see in modern techniques like

millia's first appearance oh and she's

delivering the spies to the sdf-1

Macross and whatnot there's that whole

action sequence where she launches where

she gets involved in the fighting that's

taking place around the Macross and

everything like that to even her escape

and stuff you know I would love to see

it choreographed the same way but I

would adore to see it with new animation

techniques and effects I think that

would look just Oh gorgeous yeah the

combat scenes alone would be worth it yeah

yeah that's actually one thing that too

that I like I would want to stipulate as

well like when we're talking about a

reanimation I would want a lot of the

original action sequences or at least

the good one good ones you know which I

would want their choreography kept like

that that battle that fight like the one

where you know the episode where Focker

dies there they have a momentous battle

between Max and Millia and it is the

choreography in that even though the

animation isn't up to it the

choreography is incredible and the

editing of that action sequence it's one

of the best action sequences in all of

macross still to this day just because

of the way it's put together you know

the way that it would the way they

create the action and the tension and

the mentum and everything with it is

just incredible i watch that sequence

and I'm still blown away by it and they

have they have these interesting quick

cuts with some of the mecha as well

where they show just bits and pieces of

the mecha like at various stages while

they're maneuvering and everything and

it's just it's incredible an absolutely

accomplished piece of a animation and

I any sort of reanimating of that I

would want that kept I would want that

staging kept intact absolutely to

editing the staging everything I would

want those the choreography I would want

it all kept intact just using you know

just doing a modern update on it totally

cool so that's my pitch yeah SDF

re-animation

a worthy one if ever there was yeah

that's another thing that a lot of

people want you know they talked about

and I thought yes I thought it was just

me

but you know no that's been

something that's been oh that's that's

appeared over and over again in for like

a lot of years and then the macross that's

my specifics so you know the yeah the

anime fan community as well like I know

lots of people on like anime nation and

ann everything like that they've talked

about it over the years for sure it's

been a popular one absolutely yeah

because i think is for longtime fans we

all loved the original anime and we will

never get tired of watching it even if

it was reanimated i would still watch

the original anime that's how much of a

crazy fan i am but i think we also all

understand that yeah it's like it's it

was never one of the best animated show

as we ever watched you know even for the

time I mean I grew up on like the studio

the studio ghibli films one of my first

anime films I ever watched with Nausicaa

the valley of the wind right which is a

to this day it's a gorgeous yeah

animated movie right and that is very

very old and I love that movie it's just like

you know i would i would love for you

know for macross to have at least

you know some sort of the original

macross to have that kind of you know

quality to it at least or if not like

modern sort of quality and i would i

would definitely be on board for a

reanimation of the classic for sure oh

yeah i think i'd be down for it too

especially as we know that mikimoto art

looks really good in the modern

animation kabaneri of the iron

fortress yeah yes you know and he hasn't

done anything was macross the first

so when he's done with Kabaneri

season two he could work on this one

this reanimating you know would you

start over to a like you're in

the middle would you like say neither

was like we got to start all over again

no I would still finish it um yeah I

still finish mostly because like I think

there is some credit to seeing it in its

original format like because like the

Yamato reboot for example was yamato

2199 because i haven't seen the original

yamato or Star Blazers and but Craig has

them when we review

for reanimated you know he was able to

point out some of the differences and

how they applied some of those

differences was good in the remake but

it's not exactly the same as the

original and that you know sometimes

that happens when you have the reboots

and sometimes it's for it works out

really well like in Yamato 2199 you have

a female pilot that I can't I remember

her name now but she ends up being a

replacement for a pilot was originally

male in the original Yamato if i remember

correctly like it was her brother or

something but it worked out really well

for the for the reboot you know so some

things don't carry over a hundred

percent but with sometimes it works out

for the better of the show so I think it

all really just depends on how they

would handle it there are some things

like you know changing the choreography

for some things that really weren't is

weren't is great the first time around

or like maybe like one of the sequences

that sticks out in my mind is when they

reuse the same animation loop for the

Valkyries flying in and like I think

episode 4 or 5 they're like you could

tell that they reused the same like cell

like same cells for that sequence until

Roy's plane comes in and they had to

paint his you know skull squadron stuff

on last so because they couldn't reuse

it after that you know so so some of

those things I think the reboot was

really nice for for fixing and just

bringing like a an updated freshness to

really Mikimoto's art like that's one of

my favorite things about the original is

Mikimoto's character designs and

his artwork in the original series yeah

I agree I agree very much so they'd have

to keep that character art intact it's

it's as much macross as anything else

any other part of macross the original

well i'm glad you guys are along for

the ride hopefully that's something that

they consider and consider soon like we

mentioned you know it's now or never

well yeah it's definitely does not never

but yeah it would be it would be most

appropriate you know in this in the

current era for sure let's close it out

Beware of the Seminarizers - Duration: 2:33.

The world is full of colleges and

universities that produce graduates that

are useless and incompetent. The churches

have followed the world. They have Bible

schools and they recruit people for the

seminaries, people that come out of Bible

school with a useless certificate. A

degree in divinity does not qualify you

for the kingdom of God. It makes you

utterly useless, because those graduates

have been brainwashed. They are full of

useless knowledge. They have no knowledge

of God. Do not be enticed to go to Bible

School because you will come out of the

a hypocrite, useless for the kingdom of

God. Do not fall into the trap of going

to a Bible school and then think that

you have some credibility in the kingdom

of God, you have none. You only have

credibility with Jesus if you follow

Him as a disciple and if you are led by

the Holy Spirit.Jesus never commanded

His followers to go to seminary, or to

Bible school, or to Bible study. He said:

"Come here, follow Me." He gives His Holy

Spirit in them to guide them and to

teach them. The only teacher that you

need is the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ

Himself dwelling in you. Jesus will teach

you everything that you need to know and

He will guide you into fruitfulness, if

you submit yourself to Him, trust Him and

follow Him. Without Jesus Christ we can

do nothing. Bible school education and

qualifications are utterly useless for

the kingdom of God. Follow and obey Jesus

Christ and He will be pleased with you.

Cars-Mater-National Hi Octane Edit-GLITCH!!! (Turn up Volume and have captions ON!) - Duration: 4:51.

Hello everybody! It is I, the one, the only... Puffjak8!!!...

I will never do that again. Anyway...

Thank you all for joining me this Christmas Eve. Or is it Easter Eve? I always get the two confused.

In either case, I have another video! YAY!!!

This time I will be showcasing a glitch I found recently in my game. No one else has even found this yet.

I don't know how it happened or how it keeps happening, but it does, so I had to show this!

So the glitch takes place in Relay 1. You will see it eventually.

So I select my team like normal right? That IS normal right? Oh no, what if the GLITCH is normal?!??!?!?!?!?!?!xp?!?

So I should mention, this will be the first time you will see me not use powerslide, boost, or tilt, which I have been practicing for speedrunning 100 % in this game. I will upload more for you guys later.

Ugh, All-Star. I will change it.

Er, what? ANOTHER GLITCH?!?!?!?!?;)!?!?!?!?

Oh well, we can all live with All Sta-er, SomeBODY is what it was called right? I'm sorry, SomeBODY!

Here are the newer shortcuts for you guys to see. We updated the first shortcut so that you jump the break and drive past the end, and I've gotten better at the second shortcut, even with no powerslide.

So the race goes normal, until THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you can see, NO CARS!!!! What is the meaning of this???? How did I cause this to happen?!?!?<I>D!?!?!?!?

My opponents are closing in, so I have to go, because...

I win the race when I cross the finish line! What is happening????????????????????????????????????

Oh, shush Mater! I don't need no boost! I haven't been using it for a while!

I will check something in the files. Must be something up because I modified some things myself recently. I'll check the aty file.

Oh, it was only one lap...

APRIL FOOL'S EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! Did I get you? Let me know in the comments below. Also, I am hoping to reach 100 subscribers eventually, but I'm hoping to cross the 50 subscriber boundary soon. 'Til then, I will see you guy's next time!

Reporters Everywhere Are FREAKING Out About What Bill O' Reilly Said On TV Last Night…

THIS IS BAD!

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly is flaming mad at how the mainstream media treated the case

of the two immigrant teens.

One of them is in the U.S. illegally and was accused of raping a Maryland high school student.

"ABC, NBC, CBS did not cover it on their nightly news broadcasts," O'Reilly said

in his "Talking Points Memo."

"CNN did not cover the Maryland story in primetime last night.

Ditto MSNBC.

That is beyond anything I have ever seen in my 40 years-plus of journalism."

"We all know why," O'Reilly said.

"Illegal immigration is a political issue."O' Reilly then warned that "many Americans

now have had enough of illegal immigration."

He is right.

We the people are tired of these lies from our politicians.

"[There] comes a time when citizens of any country have to demand justice, have to demand

protection, demand the law be respected," O'Reilly said.

"We have not, have not, come to that time yet in America."

(h/t Fox News)URGENT Wikileaks Just Leaked List Of Phones Hacked By The CIA!

Is Yours On The List

You won't see this on the mainstream media – that's because most journalists are

a bunch of spineless cowards.

According to Wikileaks, iPhones past 2008 could be bugged at the factory.

The latest Wikileaks leak is called "Dark Matter" and claims that the CIA has been

bugging "factory fresh" iPhones since 2008, according to Zero Hedge.

** This means that iPhones from the factory have been hacked by the CIA since 2008.

Here is the full press release via Wikileaks:

"Today, March 23rd 2017, WikiLeaks releases Vault 7 "Dark Matter", which contains

documentation for several CIA projects that infect Apple Mac Computer firmware (meaning

the infection persists even if the operating system is re-installed) developed by the CIA's

Embedded Development Branch (EDB).

These documents explain the techniques used by CIA to gain 'persistence' on Apple

Mac devices, including Macs and iPhones and demonstrate their use of EFI/UEFI and firmware

malware."

"Among others, these documents reveal the "Sonic Screwdriver" project which, as

explained by the CIA, is a "mechanism for executing code on peripheral devices while

a Mac laptop or desktop is booting" allowing an attacker to boot its attack software for

example from a USB stick "even when a firmware password is enabled".

The CIA's "Sonic Screwdriver" infector is stored on the modified firmware of an Apple

Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter."

"DarkSeaSkies" is "an implant that persists in the EFI firmware of an Apple MacBook Air

computer" and consists of "DarkMatter", "SeaPea" and "NightSkies", respectively

EFI, kernel-space and user-space implants."

"Documents on the "Triton" MacOSX malware, its infector "Dark Mallet" and its EFI-persistent

version "DerStake" are also included in this release.

While the DerStake1.4 manual released today dates to 2013, other Vault 7 documents show

that as of 2016 the CIA continues to rely on and update these systems and is working

on the production of DerStarke2.0."

"Also included in this release is the manual for the CIA's "NightSkies 1.2" a "beacon/loader/implant

tool" for the Apple iPhone.

Noteworthy is that NightSkies had reached 1.2 by 2008, and is expressly designed to

be physically installed onto factory fresh iPhones.

i.e the CIA has been infecting the iPhone supply chain of its targets since at least

2008."

"While CIA assets are sometimes used to physically infect systems in the custody of

a target it is likely that many CIA physical access attacks have infected the targeted

organization's supply chain including by interdicting mail orders and other shipments

(opening, infecting, and resending) leaving the United States or otherwise."

Obviously, this is not good.

Our citizens do not deserve to get spied on.

The worst part is that our tax dollars go to fund this crap.

*** SHARE this 1 million times and let every iPhone user see the truth about the CIA!

We need to get this out there.

We the people want our privacy.

That's why we have a bill of rights.

(h/t Zero Hedge)TABLES TURNED!

What Congress is Investigating About John Podesta and Russia will DESTROY the Democrats!

Democrats have been trying their best to find ANYTHING to connect the Trump campaign to

Russia, but so far they have only come up empty handed.

But it looks like Democrats are the ones who should have been under investigation this

entire time!

"Evidence has emerged of connections between Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John

Podesta, and Russia."

Republican Congressman, Louie Gohmert, is now calling for a Federal investigation!

Podesta sat on the executive board of an energy company, Joule Unlimited, which received millions

from a Putin-connected Russian government fund.

According to the GAI report,

"Two months after Podesta joined the board, Vladimir Putin's Rusnano announced that

it would invest up to one billion rubles into Joule Unlimited, which amounts to $35 million.

That represents one-fifth of the entire amount of investment dollars Joule collected from

Furthermore, Joule board members also included senior Russian officials.

Podesta had failed to fully disclose his position on Joule Unlimited's board of directors

and include it in his federal financial disclosures, as required by law, before he became President

Obama's senior adviser in January 2014.

H/T Breitbart When Eric and Lara Trump Came Across A Suffering

Dog Near Death, They Did Something INCREDIBLE!

A wealthy couple like Eric and his wife Lara Trump could of had any kind of top dog in

the world, but because of their big hearts they wanted to help an animal in need.

The couple went to the shelter in NYC's Humane Society and spotted a malnourished

Beagle that immediately caught their eye.

The pup was clinging to death!

His pitiful condition was exposed from head to toe, inside and out.

He was in such deteriorating shape that he had to stay at the vet hospital for an entire

month to keep him alive.

His big brown eyes expressed much painful torment from mange that resulted from obvious

neglect and abuse.

The Trumps were so heartbroken by the beagle's condition, they chose to adopt him.

After they returned home from the shelter, they named their new family member Ben.

With a lot of love and patience, the incredible healing process came about in phases.

Ben was not only healed physically, but also emotionally.

Ben now lives in the lap of luxury with the Trump family and he is THRIVING!

What an example the Trump's have set.

They have all the money in the world and could have adopted a breed worth thousands, but

instead they helped a dog who need it most.

Ben is loving life!

What Trump Just Did with American Truckers Today SHOCKED Every Reporter in the Crowd!

American truckers are among the hardest working people in this country.

Having to leave your loved ones to drive for days at a time is no easy task.

President Trump understands that truckers are an essential part of America, and he respects

the job they do.

President Trump spoke with truckers and CEOs today to thank them for the work they do.

"No one knows America like truckers know America" Trump said.

Trump then surprised the crowd by jumping into the drivers seat of an 18 wheeler!

You could see the excitement in his eyes as he did what every single American would do

if given the chance to ride in a big rig…

The president didn't care what he looked like, he was just having fun!

It's so refreshing to have a president who respects the working man and takes the time

to thank him for their sacrifices.

Thank you President Trump for truly being a president of the people! After What Paul

Ryan Just Did To Stab Trump In The Back, He Should Be FIRED Immediately…

Republicans have not postponed a vote in the House of Representatives to repeal and replace

Obamacare.

This decision was taken mid-Thursday after the conservative Freedom Caucus members said

that they couldn't get behind the package.

*** This is a slap in the face to Donald Trump!

The spokesperson for the bill boasted that he was changing minds just before they called

for a postponement.

At the same time that they called for the postponement, Trump was meeting with Truckers.

Here is what Trump was doing during the announcement:

Ryan the the Republicans are traitors to Trump and they don't want to fix our healthcare:

'With no policy changes I'm a no,' said North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows.

'We believe that some of the text and some of the things we're being asked to consider

at this point are not in enough of a form to make a good informed decision,' he added.

'Does it actually lower premiums for the people that we serve?'

The vote was due to start at 4 pm but was pushed back because the Republicans couldn't

get anyone to vote on it.

That's because Ryan Care is a disaster.

The Senate Majority leader says that the vote is postponed till Monday and leaves the opportunity

open for more deal-making.

Let me ask you this, though…

What the hell of have the Republicans in the Senate and the House been doing all this time.

They knew that Obamacare was a failure.

They wined about it.

They moaned about it and said that they had a plan to get rid of it, but when the time

came to fix it, they had no plan.

That's because the swamp needs to be drained.

Oh man!

There is absolutely NOBODY better at handling the lying media than President Donald Trump.

That's why when TIME Magazine called him to write a smash piece, Trump hit them HARD!

They tried to tick him off with his "bad ratings" to which he said,

"Hey look, in the mean time, I guess, I can't be doing so badly, because I'm president,

and you're not."

Hahaha!

Genius!

He is right, though.

The mainstream media guys are despised by the public, not because of Trump, but because

they LIED to us continuously to protect corrupt politicians.

You know Donald Trump would not have let them off that easy.

That's why he set them straight with this list of all the things he has been RIGHT about:

"Sweden.

I made the statement, everyone goes crazy.

The next day they have a massive riot, and death, and problems."

He was right about Anthony Weiner being a pedophile and a weasel who had "all of Hillary's

email on his thing."

They fixed that, and I said that the allies must pay.

Nobody knew that they weren't paying.

I did.

"I said, no Brexit is going to happen, and everybody laughed, and Brexit happened.

Many many things.

He was right about the Brussels terror attack He was right that Hillary Clinton and the

DNC rigged the Democrat primaries so Bernie Sanders couldn't win

He was also right that the media LIED about the polls when they said Hillary would win

by a landslide

The list goes on-and-on.

The sneaky reporter then TRIED to claim Trump was wrong about Obama using surveillance on

The funny thing is, at that exact moment Devin Nunes was holding a press conference saying

Trump was right about that too!

BOMBSHELL SCANDAL! Republicans Have the SMOKING GUN that Will Put Obama in JAIL! - Duration: 10:19.

BOMBSHELL SCANDAL!

Republicans Have the SMOKING GUN that Will Put Obama in JAIL!

We all knew it was something BIG when House Intelligence leader Devin Nunes held that

press conference about Obama surveilling Trump.

However, nothing could have prepared us for this…

Republicans on the Intelligence Committee said Nunes has a "smoking gun" that will

"leave no doubt" about Obama spying on Donald Trump for political reasons!

According to the sources who spoke with FOX News Obama used something called "unmasking"

to reveal names of Americans connected to Trump.

He then spread their names and info amongst his top advisors.

Not only that, but the full information is expected to be delivered to the Committee

by the NSA today!

Finally, we will finally have what we need to put that criminal Obama behind bars.

Hopefully, it will be enough to shut down Hillary Clinton once-and-for-all.

Democrats are literally going insane.

They have no clue what to do so now they are working to get Nunes kicked out of the Intelligence

Committee!

FAT CHANCE!!

Donald Trump knew the whole time the evidence was there and now it's finally happening.

So thank you, Devin Nunes, for helping to uncover the Truth for all Americans to see.Obama

is SCREWED!

The NSA Just Released the SMOKING GUN Trump Was Waiting For!

President Trump was right when he claimed that the Obama administration had him under

surveillance.

We now know that there is solid proof of the spying and the NSA is about to release the

smoking gun.

According to Fox News sources,

"Congressional investigators expect that a potential "smoking gun" from the NSA

establishing that the Obama administration spied on the Trump transition team, and possibly

the president-elect himself, will be produced to the House Intelligence Committee as early

as tomorrow."

The House Intelligence Committee has found that the spying was picked up and disseminated

within the government during the 2016 campaign.

The intelligence is said to leave no doubt the Obama administration, in its closing days,

was using the cover of legitimate surveillance on foreign targets to spy on President-elect

Trump.

Committee Chairman, Devin Nunes, R-Calif. said intelligence came from multiple sources

during a span of several weeks.

He has not shared the actual materials with his committee colleagues and will be the only

member of the panel in a position to know whether the NSA has turned over some or all

of the intelligence he is citing.

Unfortunately, the FBI isn't cooperating with House Intelligence Committee's request

for documents to provide the proof.

Therefore, the chances are looking good for Comey to be subpoenaed to answer questions

related to the incident.

President Trump has tapped into the Truth and Americans will soon see how right he was

about Obama spying!

Trump Just Did Something To The Secret Service That No President Has EVER Done Before…

The Secret Service is going to get led by someone from the U.S. military for the first

time ever.

Sources are saying that the announcement will come next week.

The timing coincides with a huge amount of White House security breaches that have happened

since Trump became President.

It has asked for $60 million in money for the 2018 fiscal budget and was show down.

The Secret Service will now have a military man at the helm for the first time in modern

history.

According to the Washington Examiner, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary

John Kelly is now prepping to name a senior armed forces officer to the agency's top

job.

Thank God.

This movie is going to inspire a more rigorous discipline and get the Secret Service to recover

from the terrible reputation that they have now.

That's not all.

According to Daily Mail, 6 secret service members are in big trouble:

"At least six Secret Service employees are facing discipline over a security breach with

saw a man jump the White House fence, linger on the ground for 17 minutes and peer into

windows as alarms were blaring on March 10."

We will know for sure at the end of next week, according to the Examiner.

THIS IS BAD!

President Donald Trump was not one bit happy when he learned that Republicans decided to

KEEP Obamacare instead of repealing it today.

However, he knows something the rest of us don't know.

He knows the REAL, hidden reason his Health Care bill failed…

DEMOCRATS REFUSE TO NEGOTIATE EVEN TO HELP THE COUNTRY!

You see, the Democrats stonewalled the vote by refusing to even listen.

Now we are STUCK with Obamacare, which is about to freaking EXPLODE!

Trump told reporters,

"The losers are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, because now they own Obamacare.

They own it.

One hundred percent own it.

They have Obamacare for a little while longer until it ceases to exist, which it will at

some point in the near future."

"And just remember this is not our bill.

This is their bill.

Now when they all become civilized and get together and try to work out a great health

care bill for the people of this country, we're open to it."

Ouch!

The Democrats really are trying to screw over America.

Now the Gauntlet has been thrown by President Trump, but will ANY Democrat have the courage

to accept?

The best thing we can do is, in 2018, VOTE OUT all the Democrats we can AND get rid of

the dead weight in the Republican Party like Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, John McCain,

and Paul Ryan.

It's time we vote in some Republicans who actually represent US!

SHARE this with everyone to help get the word out! After Failing On Obamacare, Paul Ryan

Came Out & SHOWED America Who He Really Is…

Today, President Trump pulled the health care bill.

It was going to come up short on votes.

If you missed it, Paul Ryan did the news conference right after.

He said the following 8 words that KILL his awful career:

Paul Ryan: "I don't know what else to say other than Obamacare is the law of the

land.

It's going to remain the law of the land until it's replaced.

We did not have quite the votes to replace this law uh and so yeah we're gonna be living

with Obamacare for the foreseeable future."

"I don't know how long it's gonna take us to replace this law.

we are all thinking about Paul Ryan: *** SHARE THIS if you think that Obamacare

SpaceX Hits a Milestone; No Need for Dark Energy?; SFN Goes to Washington - Duration: 12:43.

Hello Space Fans and welcome to another edition of Space Fan News.

This week, SpaceX completes an important milestone its quest to make rocket launches into Earth

orbit cheaper; astronomers have found a way to have an accelerating universe without dark

energy; and Space Fan News goes to Washington to march for science on April 22nd.

Yesterday, from the historic launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center the SpaceX Corporation

achieved a huge milestone in making access to space cheaper.

For the first time, SpaceX reused one of its rockets to launch a communication satellite

known as SES-10, which will bring high capacity satellite service to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador

and Peru.

With yesterday's launch, SpaceX has proven that it can recover, restore and relaunch

a critical component of the Dragon 9 launch vehicle and doing this means that it can get

stuff into orbit cheaper.

The hope is that the more they can do this, the cheaper it will be to put stuff into space.

The entire Dragon 9 rocket isn't reused, only the massive first stage, but if companies

choose to launch their payloads using a refurbished first stage, then SpaceX reports they can

save up to 30 percent of the cost of the launch.

And since the cost to launch a Falcon 9 starts at around $60 million, launching on a used

rocket could start at around $40 million.

Yesterday's launch used the second rocket ever recovered by SpaceX; it was the same

vehicle used for CRS-8, the company's eighth cargo resupply mission to the International

Space Station launched almost a full year ago on April 8th, 2016.

Then they recovered it on the drone ship named Of Course I Still Love You, and started getting

it ready to use again.

It took SpaceX about 4 months to get it ready again for another launch.

As you can imagine, this process isn't easy, each component has to be inspected and refurbished

to be used again, but that's way cheaper than building them from scratch each time and

then throwing them away.

Which is the path the SLS or Space Launch System is taking.

You may be wondering why in this day and age why we would take such a wasteful approach

to getting into orbit?

That's a good question and the answer has to do with different design objectives.

Setting aside a minute the fact that Congress told NASA to build the SLS this way, there

are other reasons why recovering the SLS is impractical.

First off, the SLS is a much bigger rocket and designed to get much bigger payloads into

orbit.

It's designed to carry 5-10 times more payload.

Further, the Solid Rocket Boosters used by SLS are relatively cheap to rebuild each time

making it somewhat unnecessary.

There's not a lot left of the SRB's once they are spent to actually recover which is

why NASA never bothered with the ones on the Space Shutlle.

Then there's the SLS second stage.

It is a huge, orange tank full of cryofuels and four advanced engines.

And while it would be worth it to get these engines back, it's not really possible.

The tank itself is quite soft, mostly made of foam with a thin aluminum lining.

What's more, it carries a lot of fuel, meaning a lot of delta-V and that means it reaches

a very high speed and very high altitude.

To get it back means it needs to lose that speed and altitude.

This is quite opposite to Falcon 9's recoverable first stage, which barely reaches barely 1.5km/s

(out of about 8 km/s or so to reach orbit) and it only very shortly peeks out above the

atmosphere.

The Falcon 9 can brake and descend at reasonable, survivable speed, without burning up and without

spending excessive amounts of fuel on braking, to avoid burning up.

It is the second, non-recoverable stage that carries most of the responsibility for reaching

orbital speed.

So it's not really fair to compare the two launch designs.

While SLS will be more expensive and wasteful, it's primary purpose isn't to make space

cheap like the Falcon 9 is, it is an explorer rocket that will help NASA regain a human

launch capability and will serve as a backbone for any future human Moon and Mars missions.

Yesterday's launch was a huge step forward in commercializing space and I was very happy

to see everything go off without a hitch, the launch was spectacular, a few minutes

later the first stage landed on Of Course I Still Love You, and the SES-10 satellite

was successfully deployed.

The satellite SES company said that they did indeed get a discount on the launch but non-disclosure

agreements prevent them from giving exact numbers.

But I think more than the discount, the company really wanted to be the first one to use a

refurbished SpaceX rocket.

Next astronomers have worked out a way to have an accelerating, expanding universe without

dark energy.

According to a Hungarian-American team, they believe that standard models of the universe

fail to take into account of its changing structure, and claim that once you do that the need for

dark energy disappears.

We've known for about 20 years now that the universe was accelerating as it expands

and this cosmic surprise has had cosmologists scrambling ever since to try and explain why

it's doing that.

To explain the energy associated with the force that is causing this expansion, astronomers

reasoned that almost 70 percent of the universe must consist of whatever that is - and they

called it dark energy.

We've also known for quite a while that there's this stuff out there, called dark

matter that we seem to talk about every episode, which is out there permeating about 25 percent

or so of the cosmos.

But there are some researchers out there, led by a PhD Student at a university in Hungary,

which I'm not gonna pronounce because I'll just mess it up, who are questioning that

dark energy is really required to accelerate the universe.

These guys are arguing that the data points we have for measuring the acceleration of

the universe - which consist of observations of Type-1a supernovae throughout the sky - only

provide enough information to give us an average acceleration.

This average is throughout the whole universe and it could be, in fact it is probable, that

the universe is expanding at different rates in different areas.

The current theories, the team argues, ignore the intricate structure of the large scale

universe.

The mathematics that describe the expansion of the universe is embedded in equations from

Einstein's Theory of General Relativity and are amazingly complex.

Dr László Dobos, a co-author of the paper, explains that, "We know from very precise

supernova observations that the universe is accelerating, but at the same time we rely

on coarse approximations to Einstein's equations which may introduce serious side-effects,

such as the need for dark energy, in the models designed to fit the observational data."

When we look at the large scale structure of the universe, we see a cosmic web of galaxies

that follow huge tendrils throughout space time and normal and dark matter appear to

fill the universe with a foam-like structure, where galaxies are located on the thin walls

between bubbles, and are grouped into superclusters.

The insides of the bubbles by comparison are almost empty of both kinds of matter.

Using a computer simulation to model the effect of gravity on the distribution of millions

of particles of dark matter, the scientists reconstructed the evolution of the universe,

including the early clumping of matter, and the formation of large scale structure.

I always love saying things like 'reconstructing the evolution of the universe'.

Golden age folks!

Unlike most simulations that approximate a smoothly expanding universe, taking the structure

into account led to a model where different regions of the cosmos expand at different

rates.

The average expansion rate though is consistent with present observations, which suggest an

overall acceleration.

Which is what we see, so that's good!

Dr. Dobos concludes by saying, "The theory of general relativity is fundamental in understanding

the way the universe evolves.

We do not question its validity; we question the validity of the approximate solutions.

Our findings rely on a mathematical conjecture which permits the differential expansion of

space, consistent with general relativity, and they show how the formation of complex

structures of matter affects the expansion.

These issues were previously swept under the rug but taking them into account can explain

the acceleration without the need for dark energy."

If this finding is upheld, it could have a significant impact on models of the universe

and the direction of research in physics.

For the past 20 years, astronomers and theoretical physicists have speculated on the nature of

dark energy, but it still remains an unsolved mystery.

Nobody has any idea what this stuff is.

With this new model, these guys expect at the very least to start a lively debate.

I love science.

Finally, like this shirt?

I'm going to wear it later this month when I go to the March for Science in Washington

D.C. on April 22nd.

I also made this Deep Astronomy Hoodie in case it gets cold.

I try to keep politics out of my online life, but as many of you who have been following

me for a while know that I am passionate about improving science education in, not just the

United States, but the entire world.

I concentrate on the U.S. though because it needs it the most, we are among the worst

in the world when it comes to science literacy and I simply can't live with that.

I fervently believe that a person who has a modest education in science has an advantage

in life and is better able to make better decisions, both politically and in daily life.

It seems to me that science in my country continually takes a back seat to almost everything

else, we prioritize the wrong things, like jobs in coal country over the health of our

planet.

It makes no sense to me to burn more coal at the expense of having a home planet to

live on.

And the jobs thing doesn't cut it with me.

Don't tell me, 'well those coal miners are out of jobs and that's not fair'.

No, it's not fair, but reviving a dangerous career path fraught with environmental disasters

everywhere isn't the solution.

The solution, as I see it, is to educate people, like those miners, to do other jobs, ones

that probably pay more.

When I hear about the lack of jobs in I shake my head.

We have companies scrambling to fill jobs all over the place.

An education in science gives everyone a leg up and allows people access to more than just

one kind of job.

The days of pulling a lever all day on a factory floor are long gone, robots do that now.

What's needed are people to build and repair the robots, program CNC milling machines,

operate complicated manufacturing machinery, work with sophisticated computer controlled,

well everything, repair computerized appliances, all kinds of jobs

are not being filled because there aren't any qualified

candidates to do them.

And if you care about energy jobs, there are solar and wind power installations and renewable energy.

There are lots and lots of jobs here, the thing is, you have to know things.

You need an education, one that is heavy in the sciences.

While I do the best I can with my modest YouTube channel, there is a lot more I can do and

that's why I'm going to the March.

I've never done anything overtly political before but I feel pretty strongly about this.

I remember that Carl Sagan was politically active, I actually saw him once in the 1980's

in Colorado at a protest at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapon plant.

I'm no Carl Sagan, but, well, every little bit helps.

I'll hopefully have some remote live streaming equipment with me when I go so I'll try

to live stream it that day but I'll keep you posted on the progress of that.

Hey YouTube!

What's up?

I'm Michael Brown.

And I'm Lucie Fink.

I'm Michael Brown.

I'm Lucie Fink.

We look like siblings, don't we?

Put your arm around me.

Wait, what?

And we have a special day for you because it's…

Storytime!

So I asked my Instagram to send me a whole bunch of questions and stories.

Things like, "What's your most embarrassing life moment?"

Then we put a bunch of them in this little vase.

Oh no.

Craziest vacation stories.

Okay.

Oh damn.

Rock, paper, scissors, shoot.

Ohh!

It's two out of three, right?

Rock, paper, scissors, shoot.

So I won?

So I have to go first.

Okay.

This all starts in a land far away called Mexico.

It was hurricane season.

We were told, "Don't go in the ocean."

But we went in the ocean.

Have you ever been in a laundromat?

I got laundried in a wave.

Spinning, spinning.

Cannot tell which ways up and which ways down.

I start swimming down, thinking I'm swimming up.

I'm swimming to like 10 feet in the bottom of the ocean.

Are your eyes open?

Closed.

Okay.

It was salt water!

Open them in life or death!

You open your eyes in the salt?

Just a tip for next time, if you're gonna die, open your eyes.

Hands hit the bottom.

I'm like, "Oops, went the wrong way."

U-turned, came back up, crawl onto shore like a spider.

And I'm like, "Oh my god, I'm alive."

Look down, there is a giant blue jellyfish on my stomach.

What??

Electric blue like lightning in a bottle.

I go, "Yahh!"

Flies off.

Next thing you know, bzzzz, it's on my arm.

Same one?

Yeah! Same one.

I smacked it, it flew, must have like suctioned cupped back.

Landed on my arm.

I have two jellyfish stings and then I finally get it off and this is the part of the story

that I think you'll want to hear.

My twin sister peed on me and it really helped.

That's really good.

Do you like it?

Can you react a little more aggressively that this story is good?

I thought that was a good story!

I guess I'm still processing that your sister peed on you.

She was like this and my mom was like, "Here, pee into my hand."

She's like scooping it into me and it was like, "Psss."

Allie was like....

And I just said, "You're such a good sister."

Time for your story.

Okay.

I guess mine isn't as disgusting.

It was a Christmas vacation but we decided, let's rent a house and go to Florida.

Me, my cousins, my sisters, my mom, my grandma.

We all went down.

I somehow lucked out in getting my own room.

Seems normal enough so far.

Is this a ghost story?

Okay.

Shit. Continue.

So I'm laying in bed, hanging out on my phone, whatever, and I hear this blood curdling

scream.

AHHH!!!!

It was kind of like that.

In my mind, it was more like

"AHHHHHH!"

Is that closer to it?

You know what, the note, yes, I feel like it really…

Immediately, I'm under the covers.

I'm like, "No."

Because like covers…

NO!

I text my mom, "Are you up?"

And I didn't hear back.

It should be fine, I'm gonna try to go to sleep.

Five minutes later I hear another extremely terrifying scream.

It's coming from upstairs.

It was my cousin.

He's just screaming is head off.

And I'm like, "Wait, what do I do?"

This story is more exposing me as a bad person

because what I did is I did nothing.

Stayed in bed.

I was like, "Do I want to live?

Or do I want to die?"

Listen, I can't even tell you what I would choose in that situation.

It's easy to be like, "Oh you gotta go save your cousin," but when it's a matter of

life and death…

What are you gonna do?

I waited until morning.

Until morning??

You…

I know.

Asshole!

The next morning we're all having breakfast and I turn to Derek.

I go, "Derek, I heard you screaming at the top of your lungs."

He goes, "No I didn't."

I was like, "Mickey, did you hear him?"

Mickey's my other cousin.

He goes, "Nope."

Nobody else in the house heard him screaming but I did.

I swear it was him.

But maybe you were the only one who was up and he was sleep screaming.

But he was sharing a room with my other cousin.

That is what scared me.

So either I'm crazy, or it was just a ghost.

Final takeaways.

Michael is crazy and doesn't help people in need.

I would say Lucie's family is a little too close.

I really liked your story.

You didn't act like it, to be honest.

I really did like it.

INDIA TO HAVE ITS OWN HYPERSONIC MISSILE BY 2020 - Duration: 3:22.

Welcome to WARN, Todays News is.

INDIA TO HAVE ITS OWN HYPERSONIC MISSILE BY 2020

While Russia is expecting to begin serial production of its Zircon hypersonic missile

soon, BrahMos-II a hyper-sonic cruise missile is currently under joint development by Russia

and India.

It is speculated that it will travel at a speed of Mach 7 and have an operational range

of 600 km.

It has the ability to be fired from ships, submarines, aircraft, and land, and is a versatile

missile that will strike fast.

It will hit with a mighty force to destroy hardened and buried targets such as bunkers

and storage facilities.

Work is already underway for developing the new version for cruising at Mach 7 speed (seven

times the speed of sound), as compared to the current Mach 2.8 of Brahmos.

The success of BrahMos-I, world's first and only operational supersonic cruise missile

developed in an Indo-Russian joint venture, has paved the way for developing the hypersonic

cruise missile version, BrahMos-II.

India has reaped the first benefit of being in the MTCR club, as scientists successfully

tested a BrahMos cruise missile with an extended range of 450 km on March 11, 2017.

During the launch at 1130 hrs, the land-attack version of the supersonic cruise missile system

met its mission parameters in a copybook manner.

It was a text book launch achieving 100% results, executed with high precision from the Mobile

Autonomous Launcher (MAL) deployed in full configuration.

With the successful test firing of BRAHMOS Extended Range missile, BRAHMOS-ER, the Indian

Armed Forces will be empowered to knock down enemy targets far beyond the 400 kms.

BRAHMOS has thus proved its prowess once again as the best supersonic cruise missile system

in the world, Dr. Sudhir Mishra, CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, said from the launch

site.

Because of the restrictive missile technology control regime (MTCR), the cruise missile

that was developed with Russian collaboration had a maximum range of 290 km, as export of

missiles having a range of more than 300 km was prohibited under MTCR rules.

Russian Lead

Russia may have taken the lead in developing a hypersonic missile, but India is not far

behind.

India is developing the second generation BrahMos-II missile is collaboration with Russia.

The missile will use the same scramjet technology that Russian new hypersonic Zircon cruise

missile has.

The BrahMos-II is expected to have a range of 600 km.

The missile is expected to be ready for testing by 2020.

Mary Chiarella Reading Workshop - Duration: 27:24.

So, thanks for coming everyone and what I have to say is, as a parent and a teacher,

one of the things that I have, I would have to start by saying struggled with, when my

kids first started getting into the grades where they were reading more complicated books

was "how can it be that I 'm a teacher" and not just a teacher someone who has really

specialized and spent a lot of time studying reading and writing for elementary school

kids "and that i don't get myself involved at all in what they do". and I said to myself

what is it that I want to do because I know that as a teacher you're constantly making

choices about what you do. When I was a staff developer I used to go to many different schools

across all the boroughs and usually, very often, there was a fight, and the fight was

'why can't we do 45 minutes of spelling instruction; why can't we do 45 minutes

of phonics instruction' and my answer was always there's nothing wrong with it, it's

not going to hurt your child but if you look at the number of minutes in a day there's

not enough time for you to do that and have really meaningful reading/writing workshops

going, and so as a parent I said to myself well how do I want to make the work that I

do with my children meaningful? And what I came to is that there is something that we

can offer children that, I'm sorry to say this to myself, but that school can not offer

children. There's something that parents can do for kids as readers that schools can't

do for kids as readers. We try very hard to do it but we are not able to do it in the

same way that parents can do it.

When I first started thinking about it I was like you know sort of researching the playground

at my kids' school and a lot of the things I heard that people were doing and again are

not terrible things they were offering me websites where I could download passages followed

by questions where I could find the answers to help my kids kind of …I don't know

do something with reading. They were directing me to workbooks in Barnes and Noble with common

core standards that would help me think about things I could do with my kids. and I said

to myself how could it be that I would ever walk into Barnes and Noble and go to the workbook

section to teach my kids something about reading. When I was a … the first two years my kids

were in pre-school I was a full time instructor at Teachers College and I taught a preservice

full length year of literacy for preservice teachers and I also taught two semesters of

children's literature and one of the things I said to these student teachers is that I

do believe the most important thing you can do for children is to really know literature

well and to try to get inside of books with kids and that to me is I think the place,

that's what I want to…that's what I'm going to offer to you this morning and that's

what I'm going to talk to you about this morning..is how do we get inside of books

with kids, because that really, I believe, is the place that real engagement is going

to happen and that real reading comprehension is going to happen. The other thing is that

I have a limited amount of time to engage with my children on anything that I want to

engage with like that I feel is important so.. ya know …one of my daughters is obsessed

with Pokemon Go and the other is obsessed with learning Italian on her phone, which

is a good thing but, um, and so I think to myself of the time I want to spend with my

child with my children on literacy do I want that time to be a struggle, I mean I think

about that in the classroom all the time. Like, where are the places I'm struggling

as a teacher and sometimes I let myself off the hook, and I say well you're struggling

as a teacher …oh well, they just have to struggle through it, so they don't like

that they have to write six more essays ..too bad, but there is a place where as a teacher

I have to say to myself when kids are struggling that much when kids are pushing back that

much there's a reason why. And so in my relationship with my children and their literacy

learning I don't want that to be the case. So I am going to give you very specific things

that I think that you can do.

But the first place that I wanted to start with is thinking about how people come to

understand anything. And I've spent a lot of time reading a very big book called "The

Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World." and

it's a newer research on how the brain works; don't worry I'm not going to get too much

into it, but their, his ..the newer kinds of ways that people think about how people

come to understanding is that the brain really works in unison with itself and that there

is the part of our brain that works to have a narrow focus and then there's the part

of our brain that works to have a larger focus a bigger context. And so the little example

that Ian Mcgilchrist, the author gives of this is that there's a bird and he;s sitting

on the ground and he's looking for food and he's digging between the gravel kind

of picking at the food, but he must also have a larger awareness, and the larger awareness

has to be that a bigger bird could swoop down and eat him, the love of his life could land

on the fence and without the larger context the little thing that he's doing to survive

is really not going to help him survive in the end, but the thing that's going to help

him survive, but the thing that's going to help him survive…you can't not have

the narrow focus, but the larger context is important, too. And that's where we come

in as parents we come in in the larger context, because there are things…because we're…our

kids are out there in the world with us..um we can provide many many things that will

help them with this larger focus. Of course the biggest thing is giving them any kind

of knowledge any kind of background knowledge at all building up their their base of information

also building up their base of experience cuz we're with them through all of that

and um if you think about what really is reading; reading is an exchange it's a discourse

it's um.. it is an act of creation it's not the same act of creation as writing is

because a reader is beholden to a text um, but it is an act of creation insofar as if

we're only reading print on a page and not realizing that there's a larger context

comprehension can't happen. And I can tell you that so certainly from working not in

just in this school but with kids all over the place that when you're trying to get

kids to see something bigger um and they are staying very close to the skills and the strategies

they've been taught and not realizing that those skills and strategies have to be utilized

and evaluated and put into something larger it's…it's …I'm going to say impossible

um for them to have any bigger understanding so um so…

um ah one thing just to kind of think a little bit about it is that when we have books in

common with people um you can, you can imagine like it's the meaning of very small things

and that when we have books in common there's away that we can um have intimacy with people.

It's one of the reasons why I love reading aloud to kids in this class and I was actually

reading um while I was waiting for people to come we've been collecting quotes from

books that we read and putting them on the wall and ya know when you know the book that

the quote comes from and you understand all the meaning that comes around one little line

um that's really where comprehension is we can do that with our children by just reading

just having just even just one book in common with them.

When my kids were little this was one of our favorite books, or maybe it was one of my

favorite books. I don't know if you know this book but um in it there's a rabbit

and there's a mouse and they're best friends and the mouse is like always kind of getting

himself in a predicament and the rabbit is always trying to help him and the rabbit always

makes it worse and there's a line in it that says "not to worry mouse I've got

an idea" and he really doesn't have an idea. When rabbit says that it means that

worse stuff is coming and um so when I would drive like I the one time in particular we

were coming back from a Big Time Rush concert at Jones Beach and all of a sudden at 11:30

at night I somehow got myself into Kennedy Airport and I was going around and around

in Kennedy Airport and my daughter is sitting behind me saying "are we ok, Mommy are we

ok?" and I said "Not to worry mouse I've got an idea" and she's like "oh my God,

we're not ok" so ..(laughter) I know and I didn't realize ya know ya say stuff sometimes

ya don't know what you're thinkin' about but anyway, so um so that's like it's

a very small thing but when we have when we have books in common with each other we can

take the words out of the book and we can put them out not just the words the ideas

out into the world and we can help kids understand how to make more meaning with it. That being

said um I'm gonna start by offering suggestions that I think about a lot when I think about

how to I want to interact even as a teacher with kids in reading.

We came up with this idea that the way really to interact with kids in reading was to be

a proficient partner. So basically, and I try to do this with the kids, especially in

clubs is you pull up to the club and instead of quizzing them or ya know making them feel

that you you're you're looking for an answer that's right or wrong you would lift

the level of what they're doing by being their partner, but being a more proficient

partner. So, for example when we're engaging with our kids about books that we read, instead

of making them feel that we know something that they don't know, partnering with them

in it. So um you know "well, well I didn't I didn't get that at all show me that show

me that <gasp> oh my God I didn't realize that yeah you're so right about that, but

ya know what I thought, I thought this. Oh you didn't think that, what did you think?"

SO it' s more that we're engaging with them and we're not saying, I mean ya know

sometimes we can't help it but say that I, I don't, I'm sorry ya gotta show me

that, that's not what that says at all, but most of the time we don't want that

to be the way it goes. We want then to feel that they are our partner and that we can

act as a, as a teacher in that partner if that is the role we want to take by just being

the more proficient reader and not like letting on to that like "Hey man, I'm the more

proficient reader." they kinda know you are, they kinda know we are cuz we're older.

The other way is to let your child be the teacher. And this is such an easy thing to

do, and when we can release ourselves, when we can release, ya know, our grip on things

which is as a teacher sometimes very hard to do it's so amazing because they say the

most incredible things because their minds are not cluttered with with um standards and

what they're supposed to be saying and all that other stuff at least not yet and we can

keep them from getting to that point. um but um you we if we listen to them and we let

them sort of be the person that leads it "so tell me about it. Wow, I, I never saw that."

And I have to tell you I just read the book "Journey" aloud to my class for this is

probably like since I've been teaching I've read Journey it's like my favorite book,

and um the things that these children said are so completely different than things that

other people said in in the past other kids have said so when we listen to kids, when

we let them be the ones to sort of take the lead in conversation um that's another another

way that I think is really important for us to consider what is our relationship with

um with our children um as eh eh eh as if we are going to partner with them if we're

gonna if we want to be involved in their growth as readers um that one other way to do it

that that I think the biggest ways to do it is to to stand ourselves back and let it be

like the most natural kind of partnership that it could ever be.

Um so then on that note, how can we like get books together with with someone with our

kids um and a friend of mine was like well can't they just retell a book to you and

then you can say you like it and you can talk about it, I'm like 'no dude, you are missing

the point. You must read a book." Last fall um after I got my kids' test scores, I have

to be very honest with you, from third grade, and I looked at them and I said 'they did

fine' but I was like <whisper> <they could do better>. And here I am a teacher and someone

who feels that I'm such an expert in this field and I'm not doing anything to help

them, so last fall we we read a bunch of books together um but you don't have to read a

bunch of books, you can read one. um and it can go like this it can go that it's a book

that you've already read um like for example I tried to start with "Are You There God

it's me Margaret," cause it is my favorite book and it's the book that changed my life

around as a reader, neither of my kids would bite on it. I think it's so like stuck in

the 70's that my kids were like "Yeah, mom, sorry I don't know what you thought

was so racy and cool about this book, it's not racy and cool at all <laughter> anyway,

they weren't interested so ah it could be that I know that um a boy in my class when

he was reading "The Bridge to Terabithia" he came in and he said "my mom said this

is was one of her favorite books" so it could be that it is a book that you've already

read, and now they're reading it, and now you have it in common. And and I I think you

have to have the words of that book in common with your child the story line in common so

it could go, it could go like that. It could go that together you just choose a book and

you read the book, um that's kind of what we did, um last year ah the reason our little

book club stopped was because school got in the way, darn school, got in the way and um

I we couldn't find ways for the three of us to read the same books anymore because

they hadda read different things in school and it wasn't really working um but it could

just be and then it could be that um at night if we have time we read it together you read

some to me, I read some to you, I read most of it to you, you read a little bit to me

and then we read on our own, um or it could be that I read it on the train on the way

to sch…ah work and you read it during school wherever it is, but that that we have completed

a book that we know the story line we know, we know quotes from it we we have some kind

of very deep understanding of it and then the work, the next work is figuring out how

do we make this book like live in the world with us. So, um ah one thing going back to

this idea of of quotes um in a book is that, that I kind of, we've been talking about

in the classroom is that um there are parts of books there are scenes from books there

are lines from books that they they come up at different places in our lives and that

when we let kids see that books that literature does that it's huge and I'm gonna just

give you an example of it. In Journey, and I just noticed that one of the wrote this

quote on the board and I'm so happy about this, but um in Journey there's a scene

it's the story of a little boy whose mother has left him and um the whole book he's

struggling with this and he's mad as as heck at his grandfather because he doesn't

know why he has to be mad at somebody and there's scene where his grandmother brings

him soup and she brings him the soup and then he's talkin to her and he's like gramma

ya know 'why did she leave' and he's looking at pictures and he's trying to find

a picture of himself with his mother and wants his mother to smile at him through these pictures

and she won't do it and at the end of the scene, it's only a few paragraphs, but at

the end of the scene it says "I drank my soup, now cold as if my mother never left"

and um what I have said to them is that that line resonates like comes back to me over

and over and over again that after the election I woke up the morning after I found out the

results of the election and in my mind I said " I eat my soup, now cold as if the election

never happened." but I'm not even kidding like really and truly that is how how literature

how those words come to me and that if we can show them that these words um live in

the world not just in this book and then we can actually take it and use that larger context

and apply it to things that are in our lives then reading becomes an exchange it becomes

a creation um in a way that we can do because we kind of walk through the world with them

we can do it a lot in school but you can do it um a lot more um outside of school.

Another thing that I think is a great way for us to come together around literature

with kids is the things that they're going through and thinking about, how characters

in books go through the same kinds of things last year my daughter was in a class with

two of her best friends and um she was always the third party she never sat with them on

the bus to any field trip and um would..didn't really want to talk to me about it and I didn't

know how to talk to her about it because I tried to and I don't know if she was embarrassed

about it or what but she didn't really wanna talk to me about it and it was very very hard

and very very sad and that's when I decided to read "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli with

them and we read it together and they liked it and one of the parts of Stargirl is this,

she is this character who, even though the whole school decides they're not gonna talk

to her anymore she doesn't care and she keeps herself together and she tries to be

somebody else and then she's like 'ya know what, this doesn't work I'm gonna

be myself' and through this story we were able to kind of, I was able to say to her

ya know things like this happened to me, too. I remember so clearly when these things happened

to me, and how do you feel? Are whatever, does it feel like this at all? Oh no, not

really? Oh ok. But you could talk to them about the kinds of things you know are hurting

them um that are, they're struggling with that are obstacles for them through literature

in a way that's very safe for them. One of my daughters will tell me every single

thing that hurts her, every single part of her heart, she opens up and she lays it on

the table and she asks me to put it back together for her. My other daughter does not do that

at all and we can have, we can talk about things through literature. The other thing

is um these kinds of conversations that go um, where you're reading a book and it's

like um "huh, that character, in that book not like just reminds me of, but that character

after um Grace Vanderwaal won um AGT Grace Vanderwaal won America's Got Talent she's

a little 12-year-old singer/songwriter she plays the ukulele and she rocks and she um

won um America's Got Talent and I said to my kids "Oh my God, that's Stargirl, she

plays a ukulele that's Stargirl." And, we had the best conversation about why they

did not think she was Stargirl, and we kept going back to the story and I'm like, "but

right here it says…" and in Grace Vanderwaal's life we saw the video that said that she actually

really didn't have any friends in school and that her only friend really was her sister

and Stargirl doesn't have any friends either and she doesn't care and actually Grace

doesn't seem like she cares and we were going back and forth and having these debates

on the way to school um every time we watched America's Got Talent, every time we hear

a song now they're playing on of her songs for the talent show at um on their guitar

at uh 199 ..yeah, yeah, yeah, um anyway um but it was a way for us to for us to bring

out of this book information and um a real true character personal qualities and have

them see that this thing this book this story is not just this book this story, it's something

bigger and that when we interact with it and we make it bring it out um we can see so much

more with it.The other thing um another uh Jerry Spinelli thing is that we read this

book um "Loser" which actually a bunch in the kids in the class have read and yesterday

I discovered Julian is writing in the style of Jerry Spinellei, uh by the way…he is

um Jerry Spinelli and Shane um and by the way he is but anyway so that's another way

that kids can be inspired by literature, of course but um one of the big questions that

my kids had when we read that book is is he like real like this character Zinkoff like

are there real kids in the world like this and I'm like "uh, yeah," and they're

like "well we don't know anybody like this and it was like we were like talking

to things like "yes, you don't know anybody like that, but it doesn't mean there aren't

a lot of people like that" and I mean I think that's one of the biggest places that

literature, and I really like realistic fiction, I know kids love fantasy, I'm a huge Harry

Potter fan and the reason I like realistic fiction and I like to read realistic fiction

with kids is because their lives are so close to these stories and that we can um pull them

and expand them like little by little to ..using fiction and using literature to understand

bigger things about people and about the world um another big place for them um to think

about stuff is um to think about uh issues that characters in books have people really

have then um when we first read "Maniac McGee," my kids like, were like totally

missed the fact that he's a homeless kid, yes Jerry Spinelli writes it with a lot of

humor but he's a homeless kid who is um ya know trying to find a place who's kind

of dodging the system and he's dodged it enough and at the end someone takes pity on

him and brings him home now of course we know that that wouldn't be the way the book would

end if it was a real life story, but the fact that my children who life in New York City

were not realizing that these kinds of issues affect people who are right next to them made

me wanna read more stuff like that with them. Let me just say one thing about standardized

testing, um I don't really wanna talk about standardized testing but I have to say a parent

uh of two district three children who are going to public school next year um and even

if they weren't um my sister's child is in a private school and going to a private

school and uh the uh uh unfair un but true part of children's lives in school these

days is testing and um why would you do something like this, read books with your child have

conversations with your child why would you do that, and why would you not spend the time

having them answer passages and questions online because that really looks closer to

what the test looks like um and um my feeling on that is that I became a driver later in

life, so I can always relate everything to driving and um I uh failed my driving test

the first time I took it because I really didn't think I had to practice cause I had

watched people drive all my life um but um but I did and I was doing so many things um

wrong it was really hard to finally pass it and that's a whole story that I'll tell

you later <laughter> um but I knew the guy who knew the guy, who knew the guy anyway

um but uh but but one of the things of course for a test is you have to have really really

solid content no matter what it is whether it's driving, whether it's a reading test

whether it's anything at all your content has to be solid. You can give kids strategies

for like eeny meeny miny moing it um and some of those strategies will help them will give

them some points here and there but the biggest thing that they need to do is to be really

really highly highly engaged readers and I know that I've said this before but I lost

my um my teaching license I was away from teaching working at the college, being a staff

developer and I lost my license and then everything changed. So when I went to get my license

back I had to fight and uh and take a lot of tests and it was really a great thing actually

for me to take this test because as I was sitting there I was watching the timer ticking

away and I was thinking to myself I'm gonna fail this ..I'm gonna fail this test and

and then I'm gonna be a fraud and then I can lie to people and I can tell the that

I only took it one time and I'm gonna have to take it six times and I can't bear it.

And I said to myself ok let it go. what is can you that you can do right now get yourself

together pull yourself together <laughter> I raised my hand I asked if I could go to

the bathroom and the woman said "sure" and I said "ok, can you turn that clock

off?" and she said "no" and I said well then I'll <unintelligible> go to the bathroom,

so I said to well what is it that I can do and and really and truly and I and this is

the truth I said to myself you must be engaged with what you're reading; as you're reading

you have to find some way to let yourself in the nooks and crannies that your heart

into the little pieces of what you're reading so that you can understand it, because if

you're just answering a test in a very surface way and you're doing that thing, I think

there's s standardized book out there for teachers about how ya know teach the kids

it's like a pinball game. It's not like a pinball game, it is not like a pinball game,

you must interact with reading to understand reading and so even if we choose one book

and we read one book with our child really really well and we use it as that touchstone

that thing that we go to that place where we remind them of of words and lines and characters

and that we keep it as part of our conversation then they get a sense of what it means to

read with really really deep profound comprehension and that's what they, I believe you need

to do well on a standardized test. the lucky thing for them is these tests aren't timed

anymore so they can, they can't hang out, because when ya hang out and the yoga video

is playing and you're hanging out ya never wanna get back in it, You're comfortable

now and you've removed yourself. You have to be in a groove, but um if you know what

really, wonderful inspirational engaged reading feels like then when you go to read everything

you recognize not the content of what you're reading but the feeling that "ah, yes. This

is how you get it." And ah so that's my, that's my thing to you, and what I would

like to say is if if you are interested and you feel that any of this information is incomplete

or you would like to talk more about it or you would like to create something for us

to as a community come together and put things out there to show other people um what you're

doing cause I have to say what I always knew but I realize more every single day what I

do is ok but what they do and how they lift each other up that's where it all happens,

It all happens when Shane brings in a piece of writing and Julian says um says "wow,"

and then somebody writes a quote on the board and somebody else that's where it matters;

it matters…me, just a little bit, Them a lot.
