North Korea has slammed the United States for deploying its B-1B strategic bombers to

South Korea five times last month,... saying Washington is pushing the peninsula to the

brink of war with its military drills.

The regime's state-run Korean Central News Agency said Saturday that the drills were

sorties in preparation for a surprise attack on the North.

The U.S. Forces Korea made public a joint exercise involving one B-1B on March 22nd,

but it wouldn't confirm if there had been more.

However,... a source within South Korea's defense ministry has confirmed the U.S. did

have B-1Bs make five flyovers during the past fortnight.

Experts believe the U.S. is deploying its strategic weaponry to send a strong message

to North Korea that it must halt its provocations.

U.S. sanctions N. Korean firm, 11 individuals with ties to nuke program - Duration: 1:39.

The U.S. government has announced a fresh set of sanctions on eleven North Korean individuals

and one entity in response to North Korea's "ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction."

Nearly all of the eleven North Korean agents are said to operate in other countries.

Kim Hyun-bin reports.

The Trump administration has slapped fresh sanctions on a North Korean business and eleven

other North Korean nationals with ties to the regime's nuclear program and the financial

networks that support it.

A statement released by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Friday said the sanctions

aim to disrupt networks and methods that fund Pyongyang's nuclear, ballistic missile and

proliferation programs.

The U.S. Treasury Department says North Korea-based trading corporation Paeksol exports iron ore

to China which benefits the regime and has possible ties to the North Korean military.

The department added that the eleven people who were sanctioned work as North Korean agents

in Russia, China, Vietnam and Cuba.

The sanctions prohibit U.S. companies from dealing with the entities and freeze any assets

held in American banks.

The Trump administration has vowed to take a tougher stance against the regime after

years of failed attempts to denuclearize North Korea.

U.S. officials believe North Korea will continue to conduct nuclear tests with an eye to mastering

the technology required to tip a long-range missile with a warhead.

Pyongyang is already heavily sanctioned by the U.S.,... but experts say Washington needs

China's help to deter North Korea.

President Trump is expected to discuss North Korea issues with his Chinese counterpart

Xi Jinping in Florida next week.

South Korea-U.S. FTA removes non-tariff barriers to key U.S. exports: USTR - Duration: 0:59.

The U.S. trade representative has issued a glowing assessment of the free trade deal

between South Korea and the United States.

It says the FTA has created substantial new opportunities for American exporters and has

helped dismantle barriers to autos and other key U.S. exports.

In its annual report on foreign trade barriers, released on Friday,... the USTR said the FTA

provides meaningful market access commitments across virtually all major services sectors.

It added that,... since entering into force in early 2012, a number of U.S. farm exports

to Korea have recorded double- and even triple-digit gains, although compared to pre-FTA levels,

overall U.S. agricultural goods exports to Korea are down by around eleven percent.

The mostly positive report comes at a good time for Seoul as President Trump has talked

about renegotiating or even scrapping what he's labeled "job-killing" trade deals.

The Lessons Athletics Teach Us - Duration: 2:33.

When people think about high school sports the "Gold Ball" often gets referred to

- the epitome of a high school athlete: being a State Champion or maybe it is getting to

that next level and becoming a college athlete.

And while both of these are something to strive for and a goal we have as an athletic

program at LuHi - we recognize there is so much more to athletics and high school sports

than a trophy, ring, or scholarship.

There have been times in my life where I've wanted to walk away from sports entirely,

times where I've felt like I watched sports seem to do more harm than good; but every

time I think about walking away I quickly realize that I wouldn't be who I am today

without sports.

Like anything in life, sin screws up sports at times too but the positives of athletics

- give back throughout life.

Even as a successful high school athlete I didn't ever hoist that final trophy.

But, even without the ultimate success, I firmly believe being a high school athlete

was extremely significant for the rest of my life.

Being a teacher, I believe lessons learned in the classroom are important, but the lessons

athletics taught me have had a greater influence on my character than anything else.

And, along with my faith in Jesus Christ, sports has given me the strength to get through

things I didn't think I could.

So here are just a few lessons I've learned from sports that have developed my character

and that we strive to develop in our student athletes at LuHi:

Hard work Perseverance

Time management Self-discipline

How to handle stress and pressure Teamwork

How to overcome adversity Setbacks happen

How to control our emotions Success requires hard work and sacrifice

And most importantly, sports and life are not fair God is good

LuHi athletics supports the mission of the school by committing to Christian Character

Development of our student athletes.

And these traits equip students to be successful athletes and people.

I know there are other venues where these life lessons and character development can

take place but for me, it was on the court or field and I can't think of many better

places to learn these tough lessons - especially at a place like LuHi where you are surrounded

by coaches and teammates who can continually point us back to the cross . . . where all

of this now takes on a different meaning because we already have victory, eternal victory in

Christ alone.

LARGEST PRO-ISRAEL GROUP

CELEBRATES A NEW

WASHINGTON AND JERUSALEM.

>> FOR THE FIRST TIME IN

ITS TIME CONDEMNING THE

JEWISH STATE.

>>> AND TAKE A TRIP ON THE

GOSPEL TRAIL AND SEE THE

PLACES WHERE JESUS WALKED.

>>> HELLO, AND WELCOME TO

THIS EDITION OF "JERUSALEM

DATELINE."

I'M CHRIS MITCHELL.

COMING TO YOU THIS WEEK

FROM JUST ACROSS THE

VALLEY OF OLD JERUSALEM'S

LAWS.

NEARLY 20,000 PRO-ISRAEL

SUPPORTERS GATHERED AT THE

ANNUAL AMERICAN-ISRAEL

PUBLIC FA AFFAIRS MEETING.

HERE IS CBN NEWS' AMBER C.

STRONG.

>> THEY CAME IN SUPPORT OF

THE JEWISH STATE, TO

CELEBRATE CULTURE, DISCUSS

THE LATEST IN ISRAELI

TECHNOLOGY, BUT MOSTLY

THEY CAME TO TALK POLICY.

EACH YEAR 18,000 PEOPLE

DESCEND UPON APAC POLICY

CONFERENCE.

AND AT THIS YEAR'S

CONFERENCE, ONE MESSAGE

SEEMED TO RESONATE:

REBUILDING THAT

RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL.

>> FOR THE FIRST TIME IN

MANY YEARS, PERHAPS EVEN

MANY DECADES, THERE IS NO

DAYLIGHT BETWEEN OUR TWO

GOVERNMENTS.

[APPLAUSE]

>> Reporter: LAST YEAR A

THEN CANDIDATE TRUMP

IMPRESSED THE CROWDS WITH

A SCATHING DESCRIPTION OF

PRESIDENT OBAMA'S

RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL.

>> President Trump: HE

MAY BE THE WORST THING

THAT EVER HAPPENED TO

ISRAEL.

>> Reporter: APAC

PRESIDENT LILLIAN PINCUS

WAS QUIT TO REMIND THE

MEDIA OF THE IMPORTANCE OF

A BIPARTISAN CONFERENCE.

ALL EYES WERE ON VICE

PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE.

>> IT IS GREAT TO BE BACK

TO APAC.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A

LONG TIME, AMERICA HAS A

PRESIDENT WHO WILL STAND

WITH OUR ALLIES AND STAND

UP TO OUR ENEMIES.

THE UNITED STATES WILL NO

LONGER ALLOW THE UNITED

NATIONS TO BE USED AS A

FORUM FOR A WAY AGAINST

ISRAEL OR THE WEST.

>> Reporter: BEYOND

STRENGTHENING THAT BOND

BETWEEN THE U.S. AND

ISRAEL, ANOTHER TOPIC

LUMED AT THE CONFERENCE:

IRAN.

>> BOTH OUR GOVERNMENTS

RECOGNIZE THAT FOREMOST

AMONG THOSE CHALLENGES

REMAINS IRAN.

WE BOTH RECOGNIZE THAT THE

NUCLEAR DEAL DOES NOT

BLOCK IRAN'S PATH TO A

BOMB.

>> Reporter: NATALI

BENNETT, ISRAEL'S MINISTER

OF EDUCATION, TOLD CBN

NEWS THE TIME TO ACT IS

NOW.

>> WE'VE GOT AN IRAN WHO

HAS A GOAL TO CREATE A

GLOBAL HEGAMONY OVER THE

ENTIRE REGION.

WE CANNOT ALLOW IRAN TO

THREATEN THE FREE WORLD

WITH NUCLEAR BOOMS.

BOMBS.

WE HAVE TO STOP THEM.

>> Reporter: HE SAYS IT

IS A CHALLENGE THAT THE

TWO ALLIES CAN MEET.

>> WE HAVE TO STOP THAT

PATH.

AND THERE ARE A FEW WAYS

WE CAN DO IT, AND WE'RE

WORKING ON IT TOGETHER

WITH THE UNITED STATES.

>> Reporter: TONY BLAIR

AGREES THAT IT IS TIME FOR

THE WEST TO PUSH BACK

AGAINST IRAN.

>> STAND UP.

BE FIRM.

AND MAKE SURE THAT --

[APPLAUSE]

>> -- IT'S A VERY SIMPLE

THING.

IF YOU HAD A BENIGN REGIME

IN IRAN, ALL OF THE

PROBLEMS OF THE MIDDLE

EAST WOULD BE EASIER TO

RESOLVE.

>> Chris: THE U.S.

SENATE CONFIRMED DAVID

FRIEDMAN AS THE U.S.

AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL.

BENJAMIN NETANYAHU SENT A

VIDEO CONGRATULATING

FRIEDMAN.

IT IS ONE MORE SIGN OF THE

GROWING COOPERATION

BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES

AND ISRAEL.

HERE IS WAS NETANYAHU HAD

TO SAY ABOUT THE PROSPECTS

FOR PEACE.

>> ISRAEL IS COMMITTED TO

WORKING WITH PRESIDENT

TRUMP TO ADVANCE PEACE

WITH THE PALESTINIANS AND

WITH ALL OUR NEIGHBORS.

I BELIEVE THAT THE COMMON

DANGERS FACED BY ISRAEL

AND MANY OF OUR ARAB

NEIGHBORS NOW OFFER A RARE

OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD

BRIDGES TOWARDS A BETTER

FUTURE, A FUTURE MORE

PROSPEROUS, MORE SECURE,

MORE PEACEFUL.

>> Chris: THE

ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN

CONFLICT IS LIKELY TO

CONSUME A LOT OF TIME OF

NETANYAHU AND THE NEW U.S.

AMBASSADOR.

BUT ONE STICKING POINT IS

THE CONTINUED PALESTINIAN

TERRORISM INSIDE ISRAEL,

BUT WHAT IS TO BLAME?

SOME PALESTINIANS BLAME IT

ON THEIR ANGER OVER THE

CONTENTION THEY'RE LIVING

UNDER ISRAELI OCCUPATION.

BUT IN THIS EXCLUSIVE

REPORT, SOME PALESTINIANS

BLAME IT ON HOPELESSNESS

AND DISPAIR.

CORRUPTION IN THE

PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

COULD BE DRIVING YOUNG

PALESTINIANS TO CARRY OUT

TERROR ATTACKS.

>> IN GENERAL, PEOPLE ARE

NOT FEELING SAFE.

IF ANYBODY COMPLAINS ABOUT

SOMEONE WHO BELONGS TO

FATAH OR THE PALESTINIAN

AUTHORITY, OR AGAINST

SOMEBODY WHO IS RELATED TO

SOMEONE IN THE PALESTINIAN

AUTHORITY, THE POLICE

REJECT THE COMPLAINT.

>> Chris: AHMED IS ONE

OF SOME TWO MILLION ARABS

LIVING UNDER P.A. CONTROL

IN THE WEST BANK.

WE HAVE HIDDEN HIS

IDENTITY FOR HIS

PROTECTION.

>> EVEN IF SOMEBODY HAS

BEEN ASSAULTED BY SOMEONE

WHO BELONGS TO THE

PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY AND

COMPLAINS, THEY FORCE HIM

TO BACK DOWN, OR HE IS

THREATENED WITH DEATH OR

JAIL.

>> Chris: THE

PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

GOVERNMENT IS IN RAMALLAH.

SINCE ITS ESTABLISHMENT IN

THE MID-'90s, THE U.S.

HAS COMMITTED ABOUT

$5 BILLION INSISTENCE.

THAT WOULD MAKE

PALESTINIANS AMONG THE

WORLD'S LARGEST RECIPIENTS

OF FOREIGN AID.

>> SOMETIMES I BELIEVE

THAT THE REFERLUTIONNARY

COUNCIL ITHE REVOLUTIONARYCOUNCIL IS THE C OUNCIL OF

CORRUPTION.

>> Chris: THE

PALESTINIAN PRIME MINISTER

RAMIHAMDALI SAYS THERE IS

NO CORRUPTION IN THE P.A.

>> THESE PEOPLE WILL BE

BROUGHT TO JUSTICE, IF

THERE IS ANY CORRUPTION.

IF ANYONE COMMITS ANY OF

THESE ISSUES, ACTUALLY, HE

OR SHE WILL BE BROUGHT TO

JUSTICE.

>> Chris: ACCORDING TO A

SURVEY LAST YEAR, MORE

THAN 95% OF PALESTINIANS

SEE THEIR GOVERNMENT AS

CORRUPT.

>> PEOPLE CAN SEE

EVERYTHING.

>> EVERYBODY KNOWS ONCE

YOU COMPLAIN, YOU ARE

PUTTING YOUR LIFE IN

DANGER.

AND THE POLICY OF THE

PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY IS

IF A PERSON HAS A PROBLEM

WITH AN OFFICIAL, IF THIS

OFFICIAL ASKS HIM FOR A

BRIBE, THAT PERSON HAS TO

PAY, EVEN IF HE HAS

NOTHING.

THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

AND THE SECURITY SERVICES

COME AGAINST HIM, AND

NOBODY WILL PROTECT HIM.

>> Chris: PRESIDENT

TRUMP SAYS HE WANTS A

PEACE DEAL BETWEEN ISRAEL

AND THE PALESTINIANS, BUT

AKMED SAYS LACK OF PEACE

ISN'T THE PROBLEM.

>> I WANT THE WEST AND THE

UNITED NATIONS TO

ESTABLISH AN INQUIRY

DELEGATION, AN HONEST ONE,

TO INQUIRE INTO ALL OF

THOSE CRIMES THAT ARE PERO

PERPETRATED BY

PALESTINIANS.

I'M SURE HUNDREDS OF THOSE

GUILTY PEOPLE WILL BE PUT

IN PRISON.

>> Chris: AHMED WANTS

THE WEST AND THE UNITED

NATIONS TO PRESSURE THE

P.A. TO BECOME AN HONEST

GOVERNMENT.

UNTIL THEN, HE SAYS, THERE

WILL BE NO STATE AND

TERRORISM WILL CONTINUE.

>> Chris: COMING UP,

FIND OUT ABOUT THE U.N.

GROUP WHERE THE JEWISH

STATE DOESN'T SEEM TO GET

>> Chris: WELCOME BACK

TO "JERUSALEM DATELINE."

BEHIND ME YOU CAN SEE THE

RED ROADS OF YEMEN HASHI,

BUILT OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF

THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM.

THE UNITED NATIONS HAS A

REPUTATION FOR BASHING THE

JEWISH STATE, BUT THE NEW

U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE

U.N., NIKKI HALEY, TOLD

APAC THAT THE DAYS OF

ISRAEL BASHING ARE OVER.

>> THERE ARE A LOT OF

THREATS TO PEACE AND

SECURITY, BUT YOU'RE NOT

GOING TO TAKE OUR NUMBER

ONE DE DEMOCRATIC FRIEND IN

THE MIDDLE EAST AND BEAT

UP ON THEM.

I THINK WHAT YOU'RE SEEING

IS THEY'RE ALL BACKING UP

A LITTLE BIT.

THE ISRAEL BASHING IS NOT

AS LOUD.

THEY DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY

WHAT I MEANT, OUTSIDE OF

GIVING THE SPEECH, SO WE

SHOWED THEM.

SO WHEN THEY DECIDED TO

TRY TO PUT A PALESTINIAN

IN ONE OF THE HIGHEST

POSITIONS THAT HAD EVER

BEEN GIVEN AT THE U.N., WE

SAID NO, AND WE HAD HIM

BOOTED OUT.

SO FOR ANYONE THAT SAYS

YOU CAN'T GET ANYTHING

DONE AT THE U.N., THEY

NEED TO KNOW THERE IS A

NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN.

[APPLAUSE]

>> Chris: THE U.N.-WATCH

HAS BEEN FIGHTING THE U.N.

BIAS AGAINST THE JEWISH

STATE FOR YEARS IN THE

GENEVA-BASED HUMAN RIGHTS

COUNCILMENT HERE ICOUNCIL.

HERE IS A VIDEO DELIVERING

THE STUNNING REBUKE HE

DELIVERED ON ISRAEL'S

BEHALF.

>> THEY HAVE USED THE

WORST KIND OF ABUSE, AND

IMPOSING A REGIME OF

APARTHEID.

>> THEY CONTINUE TO

EXERCISE APARTHEID IN

PALESTINIAN, WHICH

CONSTITUTES VIOLENCE AND

TERROR AGAINST THE

PALESTINIAN PEOPLE.

>> THESE VIOLATIONS

INCLUDE THE BUILDING OF

APARTHEID ROAD TO

LEGITIMIZE THE LAND AND IN TO

INCLUDE ISRAEL.

>> ISRAEL PRACTICES

DISCRIMINATION, AS WELL AS

EXTREMISM.

>> THE UNITED NATIONS

WATCH HAS THE FLOOR.

>> MR. PRESIDENT, LET ME

BEGIN BY PUTTING THE

FOLLOWING ON THE RECORD.

EVERYTHING WE JUST HEARD

FROM THE WORLD'S WORST

ABUSERS OF WOMEN'S RIGHTS,

OF FREEDOM OF RELIGION, OF

THE PRESS, OF ASSEMBLY, OF

SPEECH, IS ABSOLUTELY

FALSE AND INDEED ORWELION.

THE AGENDA ITEM AGAINST

ISRAEL COMPLETELY IGNORES

THEY'RE HUMAN RIGHTS.

OVER THE WEEKEND,

PRESIDENT ABBAS ANNOUNCED

HE WAS GIVING HIS HIGHEST

MEDAL TO A MAN IN A

BEIRUT-BASED AGENCY OF 18

ARAB STATES, AFTER GENERAL

GUTERREZ RIGHTLY

INSTRUCTED HER TO REMOVE

THE REPORT THAT A ACCUSED

APARTHEID.

WHY IS HE CELEBRATING A

REPORT AFTER HIS ONLY

COMMISSION TRIED TO REMOVE

MR. FAULK?

THE ACCUSATION AGAINST

ISRAEL IS ABSURD.

ISRAEL'S 1.5 MILLION

ARABS --

>> MORE THAN ONE STATEMENT

USED INACCEPTABLE TERMS,

AND SO WE WOULD LIKE THIS

TO BE STOPPED.

AND WE CALL FOR RESPECT OF

OUR POSITIONS WITHIN THE

UNITED COUNCIL.

>> NOW, THE PREVIOUS

SPEAKER CAN CONTINUE.

>> THANK YOU,

MR. PRESIDENT.

ISRAEL'S 1.5 MILLION

ARABS -- WHATEVER

CHALLENGES THEY FACE,

ENJOY FULL RIGHTS TO

VOTES, THEY WORK AS

DOCTORS AND LAWYERS, AND

THEY SERVE ON THE SUPREME

COURT.

I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT

COMMISSION, EGYPT, IRAQ,

AND THE OTHERS, HOW MANY

JEWS LIVE IN YOUR

COUNTRIES?

HOW MANY JEWS LIVED IN

EGYPT, ALGERIA, WHERE ARE

YOUR JEWS?

EGYPT USED TO HAVE 75,000

JEWS -- WHERE ARE YOUR

JEWS.

SYRIA, YOU HAD TENS OF

THOUSANDS OF JEWS, WHERE

ARE YOUR JEWS?

MR. PRESIDENT, WHERE IS

THE REAL APARTHEID.

WHY IS THERE A U.N.

COMMISSION THAT DOES NOT

INCLUDE ISRAEL.

WHERE IS THE APARTHEID,

MR. PRESIDENT.

MR. PRESIDENT, WHY ARE WE

MEETING ON AN AGENDA ITEM,

SINGLING OUT ONLY ONE

STATE, THE JEWISH STATE,

FOR APARTHEID?

WHERE IS THE APARTHEID,

MR. PRESIDENT?

>> Chris: EARLIER, WE

TALKED WITH HIM IN OUR

JERUSALEM STUDIO ABOUT THE

BATTLE HE FACES AT THE

U.N.

>> EVERY TIME I LOCK INTO

THE U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS

COUNCIL -- ELEANOR

ROOSEVELT WAS THE FOUNDING

CHAIR ON THE U.N.

COMMISSION OF HUMANITARIAN

RIGHTS, AND TO SEE TODAY

HAVING MEMBERS LIKE CHINA,

RUSSIA, CUBA, PAKISTAN,

AND VENEZUELA, IT IS

OUTRAGEOUS.

EVERY TIME I WALK IN

THERE, I REMIND MYSELF

THAT I'M WALKING INTO AN

ORWELION NEWS.

AND THAT'S WHY I'M THE

MOST HATED MAN IN GENEVA.

>> Chris: CAN YOU

DESCRIBE WHAT TYPE OF

TREATMENT THAT ISRAEL GETS

IN THE UNITED NATIONS?

>> ISRAEL GETS A TREATMENT

THAT NO OTHER COUNTRY

GETS.

AT EVERY SESSION OF THE

HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL,

THERE IS A DAY ON ISRAEL,

JUST LIKE A DAY ON HUMAN

RIGHTS AROUND THE WORLD,

AND ONE DAY JUST FOR

ISRAEL.

A SPECIAL AGENDA ONLY TO

CRITICIZE SO-CALLED

ISRAELI VIOLATIONS.

THERE IS NO AGENDA ITEM

FOR DARFUR OR SUDAN OR IN

SYRIA, NOR ON NORTH KOREA,

ONE OF THE MOST HORRIFIC

PLACES ON THE PLANET FOR

HUMAN RIGHTS.

ONLY ISRAEL GETS ITS ONLY

AGENDA ITEM.

AND ISRAEL IS CONDEMNED IN

HALF OF THE RESOLUTIONS AT

THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL.

THE EXPERTS ON ISRAEL

LOOKS ONLY AT ISRAELI

VIOLATIONS, AND WON'T LOOK

AT ANY PALESTINIAN

ACTIONS.

SO IF THERE IS, GOD

FORBID, A SUICIDE BOMBING

IN ISRAEL, THE EXPERT WILL

CRITICIZE ISRAEL'S

RESPONSE BUT THEY WON'T

CRITICIZE A SUICIDE

BOMBING, WHICH IS A

PALESTINIAN ACT, BECAUSE

IT IS NOT HIS MANDATE.

IT IS DESIGNED TO CREATE A

NARRATIVE AS ISRAEL AS

SOME SORT OF WICKED HUMAN

RIGHTS ABUSER.

>> Chris: BOO IS I WHAT IS IT

LOOK FOLIKE FOR YOU?

>> IT IS NOT GOOD.

YOU KNOW MANY PEOPLE

DESPISE YOU.

IT IS NOT PLEASANT, BUT WE

GET SUPPORT AROUND THE

WORLD, AND WE KNOW WE'RE

DOING THE RIGHT THING, AND

WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE

SPEAKING OUT.

>> Chris: UP NEXT, IS

CHRISTIAN PER CONSTITUTION

IPERSECUTION INTHE ARAB WORLD NEW?

>> Chris: WELCOME BACK

TO "JERUSALEM DATELINE."

BEHIND ME YOU CAN SEE THE

CHURCH OF THE DORMISSION

ON MT. ZION, WHERE MANY

CHRISTIANS WORSHIP HERE IN

THE CITY OF JERUSALEM.

AND DURING THE PAST FEW

YEARS, MUSLIM PERSECUTION

OF CHRISTIANS IN THE

MIDDLE EAST HAS EXPLODED.

BUT IS IT ANYTHING NEW?

JULIE STAAL ASKED AUTHOR

AND PALESTINIAN AFFAIRS

EXPERT, PINCUS SINBARI

ABOUT HIS NEW BOOK AND THE

STORY IT TELLS OF

CHRISTIANS IN THE MIDDLE

EAST NEARLY 100 YEARS AGO.

>> IT IS CALLED A WRITING

STONE.

STONE IS THE NAME OF THE

HORSE AND IT REPRESENTS A

SPIRIT OF FREEDOM.

IT IS ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN

COMMUNITY DURING THE

BRITISH MANDATE, THE

GOVERNMENT.

>> Reporter: THAT WOULD

BE THE CHRISTIAN-ARAB

COMMUNITY?

>> CHRISTIAN-ARAB

COMMUNITY, YES.

BUT HERE THERE IS AN

AMERICAN LADY.

>> Reporter: SHE IS NOT

JUST ANY ARAB LADY, RIGHT?

SHE HAS A HISTORY IN HIS

LAND?

>> YES, BECAUSE SHE WAS

BORN IN AMERICA, AN

AMERICAN GIRL.

AND SHE WAS RIDING HORSES

IN AMERICA.

BUT HER FATHER DID THE NOT

FIND HIS PLACE IN AMERICA.

AND HE CAME WITH ALL OF

THE FAMILY BACK TO

PALESTINE.

AND HERE SHE FINDS HERSELF

AN AMERICAN-ARAB LADY IN

AN ARAB VILLAGE, AND SHE

DID NOT FIND HER PLACE

THERE.

>> Reporter: WE'RE

TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING

THAT TOOK PLACE 70 YEARS

AGO, 80 YEARS AGO.

>> IT IS DURING THE

BRITISH RULE OF THE

PALESTINE, IN THE FIRST

YEAR OF THE STATE OF

ISRAEL.

WHAT IS THE LESSON FOR OUR

TIME?

THEY CONFINED IN THE STORY

THE ROOTS OF WHAT HAD BEEN

THE CHRISTIANS IN THE

MIDDLE EAST.

EXCEPT FOR ISRAEL.

THEY ARE PROTECTED.

SHE BEHAVED AS A FREE

WOMAN, AND SHE WAS RIDING

A HORSE AND THE MUSLIMS

AND THE ARABS FOUND IT

PROVOKING TO THEIR

SENTIMENTS, AND SHE WAS

EXPOSED FROM THE MOSQUE.

THIS IS REPRESENTING WHAT

WILL HAPPEN TO THE

CHRISTIANS IN THE COMING

YEARS.

>> Reporter: HOW DO YOU

SEE THE PLACE OF THE

CHRISTIANS IN THE MUSLIM

WORLD?

>> WELL, IT IS A CLASS OF

CIVILIZATIONS.

BECAUSE THE CHRISTIANS ARE

ARABS, LIKE THE MUSLIMS,

BUT STILL THERE ARE

DIFFERENT ARABS.

THE PLACE OF THE WOMAN IS

DIFFERENT THAN THE PLACE

OF THE WOMAN IN THE MUSLIM

SOCIETY.

AND THE MUSLIMS ARE LESS

TOLERANT TO EVERYBODY, THE

JEWS AND THE CHRISTIANS,

THE SAME.

SO THEY FOUND -- THEY

COULD NOT LIE TO SERVE THE

JEWS.

AND SO THEY ARE LOST.

ONLY IN ISRAEL THEY ARE

PROTECTED.

>> Reporter: IS THERE

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD

LIKE TO ADD?

>> THE HERO OF THE

STORY -- AFTER SHE WAS

DISAPPOINTED AND WHAT

HAPPENED TO HER BECAUSE OF

ARABISM, SHE WANTED TO

TAKE HER DAUGHTER OUT OF

ARABISM.

AND THEN HER DAUGHTER,

VIOLET, FOUND A NICE

JEWISH BOY.

SO THE MOTHER ENCOURAGED

THEIR LOVE.

AND THE MOTHER WANTED THEM

TO MARRY.

BUT HERE, AGAIN, ARAB

NATIONALISM AND

INTOLERANCE INDECES INTERFERED,

AND THE DAUGHTER WAS

SMUGGLED OUTSIDE OF ISRAEL

SO SHE WOULD NOT BE

SLAUGHTERED.

>> Reporter: WOW, THAT

IS NOT UNCOMMON IN THE

MIDDLE EAST, IS IT?

>> IT HAPPENS.

>> Chris: UP NEXT, COME

SEE WHERE JESUS WALKED.

>> Chris: WELCOME BACK

TO "JERUSALEM DATELINE."

PILGRIMS AND TOURISTS

VISITING ISRAEL CAN NOW

LITERALLY TAKE THE SAME

PATH THAT JESUS WALKED.

HERE IS JULIE STAAL AGAIN

TAKING US ON THE GOSPEL

TRAIL.

>> Reporter: THE TREK

BEGINS ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF

NAZARETH, HERE ON

MT. PRECIPICE.

>> THE TRAIL OFFERS THE

NATURE AND PHOTOGRAPHY OF

THE TIME OF JESUS.

THE EMPHASIS ON THE TRAIL

CONFIDENTIAL: Putin Visits the Top Secret Military Base in Artic - Duration: 3:11.

We begin with new details of Vladimir Putin's trip to the archipelago of Franz Josef Land.

The President visited the northernmost Russian territory

together with the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

The head of state visited the base of the Armed Forces located on one of the islands.

Our reporter Pavel Zarubin reports about this unique military facility far beyond the Arctic Circle.

The military base on Franz Josef Land is undoubtedly the pride of the Russian Armed Forces.

Here, in the conditions when it is sometimes difficult

to be outside even for 10 minutes because of the frost,

an ultra-modern complex was built convenient for living and reliable for service.

It is called the Arctic Shamrock.

In a rough climate, where there are no settlements within hundreds of kilometers,

stands the world's most northerly building owned by Russia.

It can be seen even from outer space.

The flag of the Russian Federation.

The larger part of it is top-secret,

this is why we can only show a few minutes of video

showing the President, the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister visiting the Shamrock.

Double glazing.

Towel dryer, washbasin.

You can see that there are no taps.

They were removed to save water.

Everything is automatic here.

Shamrock stands on high piles.

That's why the building is never covered with snow, even during the most violent storms.

The snow sweeps right through.

150 military can live here autonomously and work for at least 1,5 years.

They get the water from snow, they have round-the-clock uninterrupted power supply,

the Russian television, their own gym.

Should someone get sick, there is a medical unit.

All rooms have private bathrooms.

The construction took several years.

People worked both in the polar day and the polar night.

It's -40C°, polar bears are frequent visitors.

This is not the only Russian military base in such tough conditions of the Arctic.

However, 15 years ago, it seemed that Russia left the Arctic forever.

The deployment of the Bastion coastal missile systems

together with modern ships and submarines, armed with the Kalibr and Onyx complexes,

will create a security zone with restricted access in all the Arctic seas of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Defense, the Federal Security Service and its Border Service

should implement their plans to ensure national interests

in terms of securing the country's defense capability,

but also protecting our interests in the Arctic.

Today, at the staff meeting of the Defense Ministry

Sergei Shoigu stressed that the military facilities in the Arctic will be finalized as planned.

I hope that no one doubts that we will complete all this work by 2020.

In any case, both our financial capabilities and the objectives of our country

ensure the creation of infrastructure in the north.

Particular attention to the Arctic today

predetermines the stable economic development of the whole of Russia in the future.

There is the overwhelming majority of all-Russian and global reserves of minerals here.

Why is Puerto Rico not part of the United States of America? - Duration: 6:09.

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico located in the northeast Caribbean Sea is an

unincorporated territory of the United States of America.

Puerto Ricans are natural-born citizens of the United States,

use the US dollar as their currency

but cannot vote for the United States President or elect voting members for Congress,

which governs the territory with full jurisdiction under the Puerto Rico Federal Relations Act

of 1950.

Puerto Rico is "appurtenant to" and belonging to the United States,

but not incorporated into it.

So how did this Caribbean archipelago become owned by but not part of America?

Our story begins on the ninth of February, 1898

The New York Journal publishes a letter under the headline:

"Worst Insult to The United States in its History"

This letter had been written by Enrique Dupuy de Lome, the Spanish ambassador to the United

States to the Foreign Minister of Spain was passed onto the New York Journal by those

who intercepted it; Cuban Rebels who have been fighting the Spanish for almost three

years in their third attempt at winning independence.

In the letter de Lome expresses his view that President McKinley was a weak leader.

Spanish American relations were already fragile.

The American populous was morally outraged at the Spanish treatment of civilians,

who were being imprisoned in concentration camps in order to keep them separated from the rebellion,

and many were dying in the horrendous conditions.

While the Spanish for their part were frustrated by the American's inability, or perhaps

their unwillingness, to curb the flow of weapons from America to the rebels.

Calling for a response to the diplomatic insult

the Press began a campaign opposed to the Ambassador,

despite the fact he had sent in his resignation a day before.

This further enhanced anti-Spanish feelings in America.

The resignation, having done little to curb American anger,

was followed by a formal apology on the fourteenth of February.

But whatever respite that achieved would be short-lived.

The following day disaster would strike.

The American Battleship the USS Maine had being anchored in Havana for the last three weeks

Officially on a friendly diplomatic visit, but also present to protect US nationals

in the ongoing war of independence and remind the Spanish of the American military capabilities.

That night a massive explosion would destroy the forward third of the ship,

a later inquiry would find the cause to be a design flaw causing 5.1 tons of powder charges to detonate.

But for now the first investigation would find there was only one villain who would

be seen responsible for the act, the Spanish.

This was political manoeuvring; America had aspirations of becoming a world power,

and to do so she would need coal refuelling stations,

on islands such as Puerto Rico.

American politicians believed war was now inevitable allocating fifty million dollars

of additional funding to the military, and with the backing of the United States Congress

the President issued an ultimatum to the Spanish Government;

leave Cuba

The Spanish did not accept; expelling US diplomats from Madrid and severing ties.

The two nations were at war.

American forces quickly occupied Spain's New World holdings,

the Philippines and Guam in the Pacific,

and Cuba and Puerto Rico in the Caribbean.

In just under three months Spain sued for peace.

The war would end with the Treaty of Paris.

Cuba became independent but as a protectorate of the United States and Spain ceded the Philippines,

Guam and crucially for our story Puerto Rico to the control of the United States

as spoils of war.

But the white political establishment didn't want Puerto Rico a place of color to become a state.

In 1900, the Foraker Act gave Puerto Rico some limited popular government,

but the governor and executive were to be appointed by the President

and Puerto Rican's were given Puerto Rican citizenship over US citizenship.

Puerto Rico's status would be challenged a year later in the US Supreme court.

Samuel Downes, a merchant importing oranges from Puerto Rico

was forced to pay import duties, in accordance the Foraker Act

which levied customs specifically on imports from Puerto Rico.

Downes argued that this fell short of Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution

which states "all duties, imposts, and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States".

The court had to decide on the status of Puerto Rico, and the legality of the tariffs.

In doing so the Justices drew upon an older law as precedence – the Guano Islands Act.

In the 1840s sea bird excrement was prized for its use as a fertiliser,

but the British controlled a monopoly and prices were skyrocketing.

The United States responded with the Guano Islands Act.

This Act allowed companies to claim islands covered in Guano for the US, and if necessary

allowed the president to deploy the military to protect these interests.

But these islands were not to be part of the United States,

but to "be considered as appertaining to the United States"

belonging to America but not a part of it.

Drawing upon this idea The Supreme Court decided

that "Porto Rico is a territory appurtenant and belonging to the United States, but not a part of the

United States within the revenue clauses of the Constitution"

the taxes were decided to be constitutional.

With their ruling the Justices said Porto Rico was "foreign to the United States in a domestic sense"

neither a state of the union or an independent nation,

and placing Porto Rico in an in between limbo, that she still finds herself in today.

There are many who argue that Porto Rico should become a state, and other who argue for independence.

And the quill of history continues to write, and later in June 2017 Porto Rico will hold

a referendum with "Statehood" and "Independence/Free Association" as the options;

however the United States Congress will still need to implement changes to the status of Puerto Rico.

But, what do you think? In the comments, tell me;

should Porto Rico become a state, or an independent nation or remain a territory of the United States?

We Don't Do Stupid Things! - Putin Explains Subtle Difference Between US and Russia - Duration: 2:07.

Geoff Cutmore: One of my viewers actually sent a question in for this discussion. An American.

And he said, if you take further consequences against the Americans over sanctions, would you stop giving them rockets so that they can get to the space station?

We never use the "get a ticket and off you go" principle. And why should we?

We never take any steps that can harm us. Americans have long been buying our rocket engines.

It is advantageous to them as it saves money, including taxpayers' money that should have gone to build their own facilities, but it is also advantageous for us because it keeps our factories working.

We never make steps that damage business, damage our international relations. And we are not going to do anything of the kind here.

What the previous US administration did, I think, hurts the US economy, the American people.

And as the Obama administration urged the Europeans to take the same measures, it hurts the European economy,

bringing down the competitiveness of the European economy, leading to hundreds of thousands of lost jobs, and it has already led to the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs.

It violates the principles of the World Trade Organisation and international rules in this area, and these are crude violations both in the economy and in human rights protection.

USS Independence (LCS-2) - U.S. Navy [Review] - Duration: 3:39.

USS Independence (LCS-2) is the lead ship of the Independence-class littoral combat

ship.

She is the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of independence.

The design was produced by the General Dynamics consortium for the Navy's LCS program, and

competes with the Lockheed Martin designed Freedom variant.

Independence, delivered to the Navy at the end of 2009, is a high speed, small crew corvette

intended for operation in the littoral zone.

She can swap out various systems to take on various missions, including finding and destroying

mines, hunting submarines in and near shallow water, and fighting small boats.

The ship is a trimaran design with a wide beam above the waterline that supports a larger

flight deck than those of the Navy's much larger destroyers and cruisers, as well as

a large hangar and a similarly large mission bay below.

The trimaran hull also exhibits low hydrodynamic drag, allowing efficient operation on two

diesel powered water jets at speeds up to 18 knots (21 mph), and high speed operation

on two gas turbine powered water jets at a sustainable 44 knots (51 mph) and even faster

for short periods.

The design for Independence is based on a high speed trimaran hull built by Austal.

The 418 feet surface combatant design requires a crew of 43 sailors.

With 11,000 cubic metres of payload volume, she was designed to carry two mission modules,

allowing the ship to do multiple missions without having to be refitted.

The flight deck, 1,030 m2, can support two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters, multiple UAVs,

or one CH-53 Sea Stallion-class helicopter.

The trimaran hull will allow flight operations up to sea state 5.

Independence carries a default armament for self-defense, and command and control.

Unlike traditional combatants with fixed armament such as guns and missiles, tailored mission

modules can be configured for one mission package at a time.

Modules may consist of manned aircraft, unmanned vehicles, off board sensors, or mission manning

detachments.

The interior volume and payload is greater than some destroyers, allowing the ship to

serve as a high speed transport and maneuver platform.

The 15,200 square feet mission bay takes up most of the deck below the hangar and flight

deck.

Bunks and living spaces are below the bridge.

The helm is controlled by joystick instead of a traditional steering wheel.

U.S. sanctions N. Korean firm, 11 individuals with ties to nuke program - Duration: 1:38.

The U.S. government has announced a fresh set of sanctions on eleven North Korean individuals

and one entity in response to North Korea's "ongoing development of weapons of mass destruction."
